I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT MY COOLER HOSE RUPTURED AND I HAD TO TAKE IT IMMEDIATELY TO A AUTO REPAIR SHOP. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE CAR STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND FELT WEIRD TO DRIVE. I GOT TO WORK AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK THE DIP STICK. WAS TOLD IT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD NO OIL. I WAS THINKING, THAT WOULDN'T BE RIGHT I JUST GOT AN OIL CHANGE ABOUT A WEEK EARLIER. IT WAS BARE. COMPLETELY EMPTY. I THEN PROCEEDED TO GET IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AS IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. THE AUTO PLACE TOLD ME THAT IT NEEDED A KIT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO BUY TO REPLACE THE COOLER HOSE AND WOULD TAKE AWHILE TO FIX THIS. IT WOULD BE THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS. AND THEY CANT GUARANTEE ME THE ENGINE DIDNT GET EFFECTED BY THIS SITUATION. I DID MY RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE. I AM NOW OUT $500 AND HALF A DAY AT WORK. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT 7:15AM ON HIGHWAY 44 GOING ABOUT 45-55 MILES AN HOUR. IT WAS TERRIFYING AND ONCE I GOT TO MY WORK AND REALIZED THAT MY VAN COULD HAVE STOPPED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WHENEVER IT WANTED TO THIS MORNING OR THE ENGINE COULD HAVE BLOWN UP AND CAUSE A REAL ACCIDENT. THIS IS A SERIOUS DANGER TO ME AND PEOPLE AROUND ME. I HAD NO CLUE I WAS IN DANGER, I HAD NO IDEA THAT MY VAN WAS MESSED UP. THERE WERE NO SIGNS, NO PROBLEMS, NO ANYTHING. IT JUST OUT OF NOWHERE DRAINED THE OIL. I DRIVE 35-45 MILES TO WORK. I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT A "RECALL" ON THIS. I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD IT CHECKED WAY BEFORE.
THE SLIP INDICATOR SENDS A FALSE POSITIVE WHICH CAUSES THE BRAKES TO APPLY AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I GO OVER 10 MPH. THE ROAD IS DRY, WEATHER CLEAR AND THERE IS NO POOR CONDITIONS FOR DRIVINGTHE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE BECAUSE WHILE I AM DRIVING IT CAN COME TO AN ABRUPT HALT AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME COULD CRASH INTO ME.THE VEHICLE OVERRIDES MY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE AND I AM SUBJECT TO THE 'COMPUTER'S DECISION TO BRAKE UNNECESSARILY. I HAD A DEALER LOOK INTO THIS AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKES. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOYAL TOYOTA CUSTOMER, BUT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SOME OF WHICH ARE ON YOUTUBE AND TOYOTA SEEMS TO BE UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP I NEED MY VEHICLE AND I NEED TO BE SAFE WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S SPARE TIRE DETACHED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V273000 (TIRES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING THE ENGINE MAKES A TRACKING NOISE LIKE BAD VAVLE SPRINGS OR CAMPS. ONLY HEAR THE NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. STARTED HAPPENING AFTER 60K MILES. COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE TOYOTA USES WITH THE SIENNA.
I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 130K MILES. MY CAR IS GOOD CONDITION AND HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. RECENTLY BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SLIDING DOORS STOPPED WORKING AND THE WIRE THAT IS PART OF THE DOOR MECHANISM POPPED AND IS NOW HANGING FROM THE BACK WINDOWS. I AM AT THIS TIME UNABLE TO OPEN EITHER DOOR AND THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DOORS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND THEY ARE HAVING TO CLIMB FROM THE FRONT TO THE READ. THERE WAS NO INDICATOR THAT THIS WAS BECOMING AN ISSUE. IT AS IF TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT ADDRESSING IT WITHOUT CHARGING OUTRAGEOUS PRICES. THE DEALER CLAIMED WEAR AND TERM, HOWEVER MY DOOR MAY BE OPENED AND CLOSED 1 TO 2 TIMES PER DAY, IF THAT. THE RESPONSE WAS VERY NONCHALANT AS IF WAS NOT A BIG DEAL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE ISSUE AND MORE DISAPPOINTED IN THE RESPONSE FROM MY DEALER, WHOM I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH SINCE 1997. TOYOTA REALLY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
SIDE IMPACT COLLISION BY CHEVY PICKUP ON A CITY STREET. VEHICLE WAS MOVING STRAIGHT AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. DRIVER SIDE COMPLETELY DAMAGED, BUT NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED, NOT EVEN A SINGLE ONE.
THE 2007 SIENNA VAN IN QUESTION IS ONE OF MANY PLAGUED BY AN ARRAY OF DOOR LATCH PROBLEMS OF MANY DIFFERENT VARIETIES THAT WERE NOT COVERED UNDER A VERY POORLY EXECUTED SO CALLED 'RECALL' ON THIS VAN. THE WHOLE DESIGN WAS POOR FROM THE START, AND THE CONSUMER IS GETTING TAKEN TO THE BANK BY THE DEALERS AND THE COMPANY. WHEN THEY WANT A $1000 TO FIX ONE DOOR THAT THEY KNOW IF FAULTY THAT'S SIMPLY GREED FOR ONE, AND THERE ARE USUALLY TWO DOORS AT FAULT. THEN IF YOU DO GET THEM REPAIRED, MANY TIMES THE FIX DOESN'T LAST VERY LONG BEFORE YOUR BACK AGAIN. THEY JUST HAD ANOTHER RECALL FOR THEIR 2011 AND NEWER VAN DOORS, THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THEM YET. THEY MIGHT NOT OPEN, THEN THEY MIGHT OPEN WITHOUT WARNING, THEN THEY MIGHT NOT OPEN AT ALL. BOTH OF MY DOORS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, AND I'VE READ ABOUT MANY MORE PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY FIX THIS BUT NOT THIS, IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING & EXPENSIVE, I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE HOW POORLY TOYOTA AND THEIR DEALER NETWORK HAVE HANDLED THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN TO TOYOTA WITH MY VEHICLE, IT WAS A JOKE AND IT COST ME $100 FOR MUCH OF NOTHING.

9/2/2016 VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR WITHOUT ANY ROAD INCIDENT, PARKED IN A SHADY LOCATION FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF DURING WHICH TIME A SPONTANEOUS CRACK, MORE THAN A FOOT LONG THAT NOT CAUSED BY AN IMPACT OR ANY DAMAGE, APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. TOYOTA WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REFUSED TO REMEDY THE SITUATION BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE SPONTANEOUS CRACKING OF A WINDSHIELD SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD JUST AS MUCH AS EXPLODING AIRBAGS, FAULTY SHIFT LEVERS, AND SPARE TIRE HOLDERS THAT FALL OFF AND CONSTITUTES A PATTERN OF DISREGARD FOR SAFETY ON THE PART OF TOYOTA. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST FAULTY WINDSHIELD I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WITH A TOYOTA VEHICLE; PREVIOUSLY I HAD A COROLLA THAT DEVELOPED BLISTERS BETWEEN THE LAYERS OF GLASS, ALSO NOT THE RESULT OF A ROAD INCIDENT. HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED THAT WINDSHIELD WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MORE THAN TEN YEARS OLD BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 70 MPH, MY SIDE REAR WINDOW BLEW OUT .
I WAS DRIVING MY HUSBAND TO WORK, WHEN WE PULLED INTO HIS WORK, ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAD SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER MY HOOD. WE SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, I HAD OIL EVERYWHERE. WE COULDN'T TELL WHERE THE LEAK WAS. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME AND THEN TO ELK GROVE TOYOTA. WELL IT TURNS OUT THAT THE OIL COOLER LINE BROKE. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN 2007 TO 2010 TOYOTA SIENNA'S. THERE ARE TECHNICIAL SERVICE BULLETINS BUT NO RECALLS. I HAD TO RENT A VEHICLE BEFORE I COULD EVEN GET IT TO A DEALERSHIP. THAT BILL WAS $365. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME EVER BUYING A TOYOTA. I RESEARCHED FOR 4 MONTHS BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF GARAGE TAPPED (LITERALLY TAPPED) THE EDGE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE VIEW MIRROR ON THE GARAGE FRAME. THERE WAS A POPPING SOUND AND THE MIRROR GLASS SHATTERED, A 1 INCH TRIANGULAR PIECE OF THE HOUSING POPPED OUT AT THE SITE OF IMPACT AND A GREENISH YELLOW FLUID SPRAYED ONTO THE DRIVERS WINDOW AND DOOR. I HAVE INQUIRED OF TOYOTA AND THE MIRROR MAKER (GENTEX) AS TO THE NATURE OF THIS FLUID WHICH IRREPARABLY STAINS CAR PAINT. NO RESPONSE AS YET. I AM A PHYSICIAN AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO TELL A PATIENT WHO MIGHT HAVE THE WINDOW DOWN AND GETS THIS FLUID ON SKIN OR IN EYES. I UNDERSTAND THIS AUTO-DIMMING TECHNOLOGY IS IN MULTIPLE MAKES OF CARS. WHAT SAFETY STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE ON THIS "FLUID"? I SEE FROM THE INTERNET THAT THESE SIDE VIEW MIRROR "EXPLOSIONS" HAVE BEEN HAPPENING RANDOMLY SINCE AT LEAST 2004 IN MANY MAKES OF CARS.
THE TAILGATE BECAME VERY HARD TO OPEN AND THEN THE HANDLE MELTED. NOW I CAN HARDLY OPEN THE TAILGATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ABRUPTLY DEPRESSED BUT, DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SKID AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000. UPDATED 08/02/16*LJ UPDATED 11/30/2017*JS
THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (VSC) IS MALFUNCTIONING. AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE SYSTEM GOES OFF AND BEGINS APPLYING THE BREAKS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BE UNCONTROLLABLE. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED TO SLICK OR WET ROAD CONDITIONS. IT HAPPENS IN COLD AND DRY HOT WEATHER. IT IS ALSO NOT RELATED TO SPEED AS THE PROBLEM CONTINUES WHEN I DRIVE WELL BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE DEALER, AND BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY.
WE WERE DRIVING WHEN BACK CORNER WINDOW DETACHED FROM VEHICLE. NO ONE INJURED OR KILLED, BUT THAT EASILY COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF PEOPLE WERE IN VICINITY. SAME SITUATION HAPPENED WITH OTHER BACK SIDE WINDOW A FEW YEARS EARLIER ON FREEWAY, NEARLY STRIKING VEHICLE BEHIND US. TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED BUT REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE FAULTY DESIGN AS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. I CHECKED INTERNET TO LEARN OTHER SIENNA VAN OWNERS EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE DOCUMENT AS IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO NEGLECT BY TOYOTA.
AS I WAS ACCELERATING ON A CITY STREET, GOING UPHILL, THE ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK IN THE PEDAL-DOWN POSITION AND THE CAR STARTED REVVING ON ITS OWN. AT THE TIME, I WAS GOING ABOUT 10-15 MPH AND THE CAR ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 25MPH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT. I QUICKLY REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKES WHICH SLOWED DOWN THE ACCELERATION, BUT DID NOT STOP THE REVVING OR THE ACCELERATION. I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR WITH MY FOOT WHICH SEEMED TO LOOSEN THE ACCELERATOR (IT BECAME UNSTUCK) AND STOPPED THE REVVING OF THE ENGINE. I PULLED OVER TO CALM MYSELF BEFORE DRIVING ON. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS; THE OTHER TWO TIMES HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS RESOLVED THE SAME WAY; BY STEPPING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR TO MAKE IT UNSTUCK. THE ACTION IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE EMERGENCY-BRAKE ENGAGE/DISENGAGE FUNCTION ON THE TOYOTA SIENNA.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE (70 MPH), THE SPARE TIRE THAT IS STORED UNDER THE VEHICLE, FELL OFF IN THE ROADWAY. I LIVE IN SOUTH DAKOTA AND DRIVE A LOT IN IOWA AND NEBRASKA BUT NONE OF THESE STATES ARE PART OF THE STANDARD RECALL EVEN THOUGH THESE STATES USE CONSIDERABLE AMOUNTS OF SALT ON THEIR ROADS DURING WINTER MONTHS. SINCE MY SIENNA IS NOT REGISTERED IN ONE OF THE STANDARD RECALL STATES, I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE.
CAR STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS APPROX 55,000 MILES, LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TWICE. FIRST TIME CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED TO STALL. PULLED OFF FREEWAY, CHECKED MANUAL AND IT REFERENCED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE ROAD. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, CHECKED CODE IGNITION COILS, HAD TO REPLACE #6. ANOTHER INSTANCE, CAR STARTED TO STALL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED AT ME, PULLED OFF THE ROAD. WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT TO DEALER IN WHICH THEY STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. NOW WITHIN DAYS MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY WENT OUT, CURRENT MILLAGE 65, 987. TOYOTA WILL NO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ASSIST BECAUSE ITS "OUT OF WARRANTY". ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.
I LEARNED OF A RECALL FOR MY CAR'S DASHBOARD. IT IS CRACKED. IT IS A 2007 THAT I BOUGHT FROM DICK DYER TOYOTA IN COLUMBIA, SC IN 2011. THEY NOW TELL ME THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED. BUT THIS MEANS THEY SOLD ME A CAR WITHOUT FIXING A KNOWN RECALL ISSUE. IT WAS NOT CRACKED IN 2011 BUT HAS BEEN CRACKED SINCE AROUND 2015 OR 2016. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO FIX THREE OTHER RECALL ISSUES. ALSO, A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS BROKEN WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT THE DEALERSHIP DENIED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD IT FIXED ON MY OWN. NOW ANOTHER HAS MALFUNCTIONED SO THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME. I DON'T KNOW TO WHICH AIRBAG IT PERTAINS.

2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY TOOK OFF AT HIGH SPEED. AS THE CONSUMER TRIED TO STEER THE VEHICLE, HE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE FLOOR MAT WAS SECURELY POSITIONED AND THERE WAS NO WAY, IT COULD HAVE INTERFERED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *JB
POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLES KEEP BRAKING. THIRD TIME BRINGING CAR BACK FOR REPAIR OF THIS PROBLEM.

TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN HESITATING AT TIMES, BUT MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. AT 60,400 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION DIED COMPLETELY AND WE WERE STRANDED FAR FROM HOME. THIS OCCURRED ON A WELL-MAINTAINED VEHICLE. BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE 60 MONTHS/60,000 MILES WARRANTY, TOYOTA OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. BETWEEN TOWING AND REPLACING TRANSMISSION, IT COST US $5900. EVEN THE MECHANIC WAS SURPRISED BY THE FAILURE AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE, AS TOYOTA SIENNA IS WHAT HE NORMALLY RECOMMENDED TO HIS CUSTOMERS LOOKING FOR A RELIABLE FAMILY VEHICLE. WE WERE LUCKY NO ONE IN OUR FAMILY WAS INJURED, BUT WE ARE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH TOYOTA NOT STANDING BY ITS PRODUCT. IN HINDSIGHT, I WISH WE HAD PURCHASED THE HONDA ODYSSEY.
ON 11/12/15, THE RADIATOR BODY AROUND THE LOWER TRANSMISSION OIL LINE FITTING ON THE RADIATOR CRACKED, ALLOWING THE FITTING TO BREAK AWAY FROM THE RADIATOR. THIS CAUSED ALMOST ALL OF THE TRANSMISSION OIL TO BE PUMPED INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN HEAVY RAIN ON RAIN SOAKED ROADS AT 55MPH ON SECONDARY ROADS WHEN SMOKE WAS OBSERVED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED HEAVY SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND BOTTOM OF VEHICLE, BUT NO FIRE STARTED. NO OIL LEAK WAS OBSERVED BEFORE THE INCIDENT (NO OIL ON GARAGE FLOOR). LEAK HAPPENED SUDDENLY AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES OF DRIVING. THE VEHICLE ODOMETER READING WAS 95,510.
DRIVING CAR IN TOWN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. STOPPED AT FRIENDS HOUSE AND NOTICED WHEN I BACKED OUT A LARGE OIL PUDDLE. GOT OUT AND LOOKED UNDER CAR TO SEE UNDERCARRIAGE COVERED IN OIL FROM FRONT OF CAR TO MIDWAY DOWN CAR. COULD NOT TELL WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM SO I CALLED TOW TRUCK TO TAKE TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND SMALL HOLE IN OIL COOLER LINE WAS SPRAYING OIL OUT. IT WAS HALF EMPTY OF ALL ITS OIL IN THAT SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO COST ME $360.00 TO REPLACE OIL COOLER LINES. I WAS VERY LUCKY I HAD NOT DRIVEN VERY FAR OR PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. AFTER QUICK CHECK ON INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH OIL SUPPLY LINES IN THIS AND OTHER MODEL YEARS. ALSO LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A NEW ALL METAL OIL SUPPLY LINE AND A WARRANTY EXTENSION (ZE2), NEITHER OF WHICH I WAS MADE AWARE OF BY MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO FIND.
REAR LIFT GATE FAILS AFTER OPENING AND CLOSES ON YOUR HEAD. NO SAFETY SENSOR AND CONTINUES TO CRUSH YOU IF YOU GET STUCK UNDER IT.
2007 TOYOTA SIENNA- BOTH SLIDING DOOR NOT FUNCTIONING . THEY GET STUCK. SINCE 2014 WE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS ONLY LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR. WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR IT OPEN. HOWEVER IF TRY TO CLOSE IT DOESN'T CLOSE AND IT IS STUCK . AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT CLOSE. FEW MONTHS AGO I TOOK TO A DEALER BUT THEY DIDN'T CHECK THAT AND CHECK SOME THING ELSE. WHEN YOU GO TO THE DEALER THEY TOOK WHOLE DAY TO CHECK YOUR CAR. ANY WAY RECENTLY MY RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR ALSO STOP WORKING. IN ADDITION, I THINK MY BACK DOOR ALSO NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I AM PLANNING TO TAKE THIS TO A DEALER. I HOPE THEY WILL FIX IT WITHOUT ANY CHARGE. IT IS NOT OUR FAULT. I AM SURE IT IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM IN THE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY KIDS SCHOOL. IT IS EASIER TO PICK UP AND DROP THEM IN SCHOOL WITH AUTO SLIDING DOOR. NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AND IT REALLY SUCKS AND VERY ANNOYING I HAVE TO GET OUT OF MY CAR EVERY TIME WHEN I WANT TO PICK UP OR DROP OFF MY KIDS. THEY CAN'T CLOSE THE DOOR.NEXT TIME I WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE I BUY AGAIN THIS CAR .
POWER SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER SIDE FAILED WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. DEALER CHARGED $1100 TO REPAIR. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A WARRANT EXTENSION TO COVER THIS REPAIR; HOWEVER, THE EXTENSION HAS AN ARBITRARILY IMPOSED MILEAGE LIMITATION. THIS IS A DESIGN OR MATERIAL DEFECT THAT CAN EFFECT THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE ON A SIDEWALK. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOWING LOT. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLOORMAT WAS LOOSE SINCE THE DAY THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
THE DRIVERS SIDE ELECTRIC SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR HAS FAILED TO CLOSE AND LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHILE IN A PARKED SITUATION.
OIL COOLER PIPER RUPTURED AFTER STARTING AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE CAUSING RAPID OIL LOSS WHILE BEING DRIVEN TO WORK. IF I DID NOT NOTICE THE PUDDLE OF OIL LEFT BY MY WIFES CAR SHE WOULD HAVE DRIVEN IT HOME AND SURELY BLOWN THE ENGINE. THE PART WAS REPLACED IN 2010 DURING LIMITED SERVICE RECALL BUT STILL BURST 5 YEARS LATER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED FOR AN UNRELATED FAILURE, THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC OBSERVED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE POWER STEERING RACK. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK AND THE AXLE BOOTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, NECK, RIGHT SHOULDER AND BACK THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
RIGHT SIDE SEAL OF STEERING RACK LEAKS AND IS A OCCURRING PROBLEM ON MANY SIENNA VANS. SEAL MAY POSSIBLY BE DEFECTIVE FROM MANUFACTURER. IF THE LEAK IS NOT DETECTED EARLY, THEN THE POWER STEERING MAY FAIL AND THUS THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME VERY HARD TO CONTROL.
I OPENED THE REAR DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT SHUT. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THAT SENT ME TO A BODY SHOP WHO REFERRED ME TO THE DEALER. THE CENTER ASSEMBLY HINGE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DOOR CLOSED BUT HAD A CRACK AND TODAY WHEN MADE A LEFT TURN THE DOOR OPENED BY ITSELF. IMAGINE IF A CHILD WAS IN THE BACK SEAT!!!
ABS MODULE FAILURE. DEALER REPLACEMENT PART $2800.00 PLUS LABOR
OUR SIENNA IS A WELL MAINTAINED, LOW MILEAGE (JUST OVER 66,000 MILES) VEHICLE. AS OF AUGUST 30 OF THIS YEAR, THE TRANSMISSION PLANETARY GEARS HAVE TOTALLY FAILED, LEAVING THE VEHICLE AND US STRANDED OVER 100 MILES FROM HOME. THE ESTIMATE FOR A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REBUILD FROM A REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION SPECIALTY SHOP IS $4500, WHICH IS MUCH LOWER THAN THE ESTIMATE OF $6500 THAT OUR TOYOTA DEALER GAVE US TO INSTALL A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ABOUT ON THE INTERNET, THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HAVE HAD SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS WITH EARLY FAILURES AROUND THE 65,000 MILE MARK. THIS REPAIR IS ON TOP OF A $1000 REPAIR JUST A MONTH AGO TO REPLACE BOTH OF THE REAR COIL SPRINGS. BOTH SPRINGS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME, WITH THE BOTTOM COIL RUSTING THROUGH AND FAILING AT THE BOTTOM SPRING SUPPORT. AS A MATERIALS ENGINEER MYSELF, I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN OR PRODUCTION ISSUE WITH THESE SPRINGS, FOR BOTH TO FAIL IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT ON THE SAME COIL AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. (AND IT IS WORTH POINTING OUT THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS SPENT ITS LIFE IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA, A PLACE THAT DOES NOT HAVE MUCH SNOW, OR EXTENSIVE USE OF ROAD SALT.) ALSO, JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO, WE HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING RACK REPLACED AT THE DEALER'S RECOMMENDATION, WHICH WAS ANOTHER $1000 REPAIR. SO IN A PERIOD OF JUST OVER A MONTH, THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO HAVE ALMOST $6000 OF REPAIRS TO IT (NOT INCLUDING THE STEERING RACK REPAIR.) THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY FOR A TOYOTA, WHICH ARE NORMALLY HIGHLY RELIABLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY A REPUTABLE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, SO ALL OF THE RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU.
2007 TOYOTA SIENNA SLIDING REAR DOOR DOES NOT OPEN AND CLOSE PROPERLY IT STICKS AND NO LONGER WORKS AUTOMATICALLY
DRIVING DOWN ROAD, HEARD LOUD POP, THEN SOUNDED LIKE WIND RUSTLING. STOPPED AT GAS STATION AND NOTICED THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. LUCKILY, THE INSULATION PANEL WAS CLOSED AND KEPT GLASS FROM FALLING ON DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY HAD HAPPENED LEADING UP TO THIS EVENT. IT WAS A CLEAR, WARM DAY.
IN 2010, THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE OIL COOLER HOSE REPLACED UNDER A RECALL. IT APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED AGAIN AND ALL OF THE OIL CAME OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND SPRAYED ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND UNDERCARRIAGE. THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN WELL-DOCUMENTED BY OTHER OWNERS, HAPPENING AT THE SAME APPROXIMATE MILEAGE THAT MINE DID. TOYOTA'S REPAIRS TO THE PROBLEM ARE INADEQUATE. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE ENGINE COULD SEIZE, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE POWER AND POSSIBLY CONTROL. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ON LOCAL ROADS WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO ME. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT, IF ANY, ENGINE DAMAGE OCCURRED.
THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR OF MY TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN CAME OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I STOPPED AND TRIED TO SHUT THE DOOR BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH. IT WILL NOT STAY SHUT, EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS LOCKED, CHILD LOCK IS ON, AND THE AUTOMATIC DOOR POWER IS TURNED OFF. I HAD 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AT THE TIME AND THIS COULD OF BEEN A MAJOR INCIDENT! APPARENTLY TOYOTA KNOWS THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS AS THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THEM. THE LATCH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS REPLACED IN APRIL AT 119,000, BUT NOW TOYOTA IS SAYING THEY WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE BEING 122,257.. I WAS NORTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 15 IN UTAH AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH MY CAR. I PULLED INTO A FIRESTONE SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE TO BE A FAULTY OIL COOLER HOSE ASSEMBLY ON MY 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA MINI-VAN. I CONTACTED TOYOTA DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE PART HAD BEEN UPGRADED FROM A RUBBER HOSE TO A METAL HOSE THAT WOULD NOT BURST LIKE MINE HAD. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE OPTION TO UPGRADE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT AND IN FACT HAD HAD MY CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE THE WEEK BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. FIRESTONE SAID I WAS DOWN TO TWO QUARTS OF OIL REMAINING IN THE OIL PAN. I FEEL LUCKY THAT I DID NOT BURN UP MY ENGINE BY STOPPING BEFORE THE OIL PAN RAN DRY. ALSO, I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY WIFE WITH A CAR FULL OF KIDS AS THERE SEEMED TO BE A RISK OF A CAR FIRE BASED ON THE SMOKE. I AM WONDERING NOW JUST HOW SAFE AND RELIABLE MY CAR IS AND WHAT OTHER PROBLEMS TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THAT THEY HAVE NOT YET TOLD ME ABOUT ON MY YEAR MAKE AND MODEL. BY THE WAY IT KIND OF RUINED THE FAMILY VACATION WE WERE JUST STARTING.
