Something under the hood caught on fire while I was driving with my son, and I pulled over. I was stopped at a red light when I first noticed smoke when I was looking in the rearview mirror. The gauges and lights never indicated anything was wrong, which I was looking at while the car was smoking and I was trying to find a place to pull over. There was smoke billowing up from the hood and all around and in the back of the van. By the time the fire department got the fire out, most of the front was melted. When pulling over the brakes were hardly responsive. The vehicle is at the wrecker and has not been inspected.
In areas where there is snow and salt, the rear steel brake lines start to rust from snow and debris that accumulates and eventually the brake lines fail leaving you without brakes.
When the VSC light or the traction light comes on the alarm sounds and the the van brakes for me! It can be up hill or down hills, between 30mph-70mph, left or right curves. Thas happend on dry pavement, It is dangerous because the Van braking suddenly for me and dont let me accelerate.
As a result of the transmission cooler being a part of the radiator system, the transmission cooler ruptured while driving causing immediate loss of power and the engine to overheat. This malfunction also caused coolant and transmission oil to contaminate the engine compartment as well as the transmission. This is a major iengineering flaw and safety issue as I was on the interstate when it happened and was stranded on the side of the highway until help could be obtained.
Slid warning light, VSC comes on randomly. Has been happening beginning at 110K miles. Taken to dealership and reported durning normal service. I worked at a Toyota dealer. Front end suspension has been rebuilt. CV shafts replaced. Rock solid. Dangerous as the VSC system engages and the slid light comes on, tire speed control engages, happens in a normal 70mph easy turn on the expressway. No codes stored. Only warning lights and VSC actions engaging for no reason.
ABS Brake Antiblock System
I purchase these tires 07/21/2021 (215/ R16) in the amount of $387.14 from Discount tire at 875 S. Randall RD Elgin IL , after I purchase the tires TPMS- indicator dash light kept coming on i was going back to Discount tire almost 3x a week as of today date I'm losing 25% air pressure in all 4 tires Discount tire keep just putting air in and giving me the runaround about these tire's trying to get myself to buy $$$$ more of other things telling me it will help the tire's but before i purchase these tires i had NO problem with my TPMS system I let Discount tires salesperson talk me into buying new tire sensor but it did NO GOOD , it didn't HELP at all !
The rubber part of the VVT-I oil line appears to worn and leaking. There is a Toyota Campaign to replace this faulty designed oil line with a full metal line, but for some reason my 2007 Toyota Sienna VIN is not showing up with this campaign. The oil will leak from the engine and cause failure. Please re-check which vehicles are impacted by this Toyota design problem in this VVT-I oil line.
While driving my 2007, Toyota Sienna on a sunny afternoon, the spare tire dropped from under the vehicle. Specifically, while I was driving in the parking lot of the local international airport, I drove over a speed bump (about 5 mph) and heard a loud THUMP. When I looked in the rear view mirror, I noticed my spare tire on the road. Upon retrieval of the tire I noticed some rusty metal parts, adjacent the tire, that appeared to have been broken loose from under the car. Thankfully I was not on the highway when this happened and that no one was behind me. Someone could have been killed or seriously injured. While completing this document I learned that my vehicle was recalled for the aforementioned.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the liftgate fell on him as he was loading items into the trunk of the vehicle. The contact moved out of the way as the liftgate proceeded to close independently without warning. The contact was unable to stop the liftgate from independently closing. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
LAST WEDNESDAY MORNING ANOTHER CAR REAR ENDED MY SIENNA AT HIGH SPEED AT STOP SIGN WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR MY TURN TO PROCEED. I WAS TRAVELLING WITH MY FAMILY. SIENNA GOT TOTALED DUE TO THIS. SIDE DOORS, BACK DOOR, BACK BUMPER, CARGO AND THIRD ROW SEAT AREA ALL GOT IMPACTED DUE TO THIS AND EVERYTHING CAVED INWARD BY FEW INCHES. MY ENTIRE FAMILY HAS BEEN SHAKEN TO THE CORE AND ME AND MY WIFE ARE SUFFERINGS FROM SEVERE PAIN IN BACK AND NECK SINCE THE ACCIDENT. THE CABIN WAS FILLED WILL WHITE SMOKE (POWDERY STUFF), BUT NO AIR BAGS GOT DEPLOYED (OPENED) DUE TO THE IMPACT. WE ARE LUCKY THAT WE ALL ARE STILL ALIVE SINCE WE HAD BEEN HIT FROM THE BACK AT HIGH SPEED. THE CAR HITTING US FROM THE BACK MUST BE TRAVELLING ABOVE 40 MILES AN HOUR SINCE MY FULLY LOADED SIENNA WITH 3 ADULTS AND A CHILD SKID FORWARD BY ALMOST 8-10 FEET. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN THAT EVEN AFTER SUCH A HIGH IMPACT COLLISION, NONE OF THE AIR BAG OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ON A HIGHWAY AT A STOP SIGN (RIDGE RD AND ROUTE 52 JUNCTION IN KENDALL COUNTY, IL). I HAVE ATTACHED THE POLICE REPORT AND ALSO THE REAR OF MY CAR. IT RENDERED MY CAR UNDRIVABLE AND I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH FLASHES ON AND OFF AT START OF ENGINE AND CONTINUES WHILE CAR IS RUNNING. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I QUICKLY FOUND OUT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT IF AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING THAT AIRBAGS ARE NOT GOING TO DEPLOY IN EVENT OF FRONTAL IMPACT. I FEEL THIS IS SAFTY ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES.
AS I DRIVE ON DRY ROADS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35 - 65MPH, MY CAR INDICATOR LIGHTS AND ALARM SOUND OFF ABOUT VSC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL) AND SLIPPERY ROAD LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD. MY VEHICLE'S STEERING AND BRAKING ARE AFFECTED BY IT. IT STARTS TO RATTLE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKING PUMPS - CAUSING A REDUCTION IN SPEED AND CONTROL FOR THE DRIVER. IT CAUSED ME TO FEAR A POSSIBLE VEHICULAR ACCIDENT SO MUCH THAT I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. THE PROBLEM THEN DISAPPEARS AND DOESN'T REAPPEAR UNTIL I ENCOUNTER A SIMILAR DRIVING CONDITION. I FEAR THAT IF THIS OCCURS ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY, IT WILL CAUSE ME TO GET INTO A VEHICULAR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE ABRUPT LOSS OF CONTROL. MY MINIVAN WAS PURCHASED TO KEEP MY FAMILY 'SAFER' AND THIS EXPERIENCE IS CAUSING ME TO FEAR USING THIS VEHICLE.AFTER CONDUCTING AN INTERNET SEARCH IT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING TO TOYOTA SIENNA VEHICLES BETWEEN MODEL YEARS 2004 - 2008. MECHANICS DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO FIX OTHER THAN RESETTING THE SENSORS; WHICH DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BUT JUST DELAYS ITS REAPPEARANCE. IN ALL CASES, I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ONLY WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35MPH AND HIGHER. IT'S OCCURRED ON DRY AND WET ROADS, USUALLY WHILE ON A CURVED ROAD.
DRIVING 55MPH ON FRWY, VAN STARTED SMOKING IN THE REAR AND OIL ON BACK OF VAN. SLOWLY DROVE SHORT DISTANCE HOME AND LIGHTS ON DASH CAME ON UPON ARRIVING HOME. OIL LEAKED ON STREET WHERE WE PARKED. HAD MOBILE MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. OIL COOLER HOSE HAD BURST. HE REPLACED IT, WE DROVE THE VAN 50 MILES ON SHORT TRIPS.WHEN ON FRWY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3 WKS LATER. HAD TOWED HOME. SAME HOSE BUSTED AGAIN. LOOKED ON INTERNET SITES & FOUND SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TO MANY PEOPLE WITH SAME VAN YEAR. LONGTERM ONGOING PROBLEM. CALLED TEJAS TOYOTA IN HUMBLE, TX AND SVC MGR SAID TOYOTA OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM), BUT IT ENDED AT 100,000 MILES/10YRS (WE HAVE 120, 900) AND IS 2007 VAN. WE'VE ALREADY HAD IT TOWED AND FIXED TWICE. WE'RE RECOVERING FROM NEAR DEATH/COVID AFRAID TO DRIVE IT SINCE WE CAN'T TRUST IT. BASED ON INTERNET STORIES BY OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM, & SVC MGR AT TOYOTA OPINION, FEAR IS WARRANTED. OUR VAN WAS REPAIRED 2X W/ SAME TYPE OF INFERIOR HOSE PUT ON VAN WHEN BUILT BY A MECHANIC NOT AT TOYOTA. NONE OF US REALIZED INFERIOR PART WAS THE PROBLEM.NOW WE NEED TO REPAIR IT AGAIN WITH A "KIT" THAT TOYOTA SPECIFICALLY MADE BECAUSE THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM AFTER WE SPENT MANY 100S OF $S REPAIRING IT USING SAME TYPE PART WHEN BUILT. WOULDN'T FIX IT WHEN I CALLED IN 2015. IT HAD TO BREAK 1ST PER TOYOTA WHEN I CHECKED ON IT IN 2015 WHEN GOT NOTICE.TOYOTA SHOULD REPAIR IT AT NO COST & REIMBURSE ME FOR THE EXPENSES I'VE ALREADY HAD. MY HUSBAND HAD COVID AND ALMOST DIED AND IT HAPPENED THE DAY AFTER HE WAS RELEASED FROM A MONTH LONG COVID HOSPITAL STAY AND AGAIN WHEN I WAS TAKING HIM TO THERAPY FOR COVID 3 WKS LATER. WE COULD HAVE HAD A ACCIDENT, BEEN INJURED, WHEN THE VAN STOPS WITH NO NOTICE OR WARNING LIGHTS.TOYOTA CORP. TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY.IT'S OUR PROBLEM,NOT THEIRS. CAN'T DRIVE VAN. WILL HAPPEN AGAIN W/OUT WARNING. HELP PLEASE!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND COASTED INTO A DRIVEWAY. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT REFILLED THE OIL HOWEVER, THE OIL IMMEDIATELY LEAKED OUT THE VEHICLE. A MECHANIC ARRIVED ON SCENE AND REPLACED AN OIL HOSE. AFTER THE HOSE WAS REPLACED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO SUBURBAN TOYOTA OF FARMINGTON HILLS (25000 HAGGERTY RD, FARMINGTON HILLS, MI 48335) WHO CONFIRMED THERE WAS AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONTACT THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED IN AND OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, WHILE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE COASTED AND JERKED UPON SLIGHT DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,300.*DT*JB
DASH BOARD CRACKING.
MY 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN BLINKING OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR, BECAUSE IT WOULD DO IT ON AN INCONSISTENT BASIS, I DIDN'T GET IT CHECKED BECAUSE IT WOULD GO OFF AND THEN COME ONE AGAIN. TODAY AT 81,000 MILES I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED FOR AN OIL CHANGE, SO I HAD THEM DIAGNOSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW AIR BAG SYSTEM THAT WOULD COST ME OVER $1300.00 AND I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS NOT SOMETHING A CONSUMER HAVE ACCESS TO, TO CAUSE WEAR AND TEAR. I'VE BEEN DRIVING MY CHILDREN AROUND NOT REALIZING THE WHOLE SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. SHOULD THIS BE A RECALL BECAUSE I AM SEEING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS IN THIS MODEL. AND I AM UNSURE HOW A RECALL IS ESTABLISHED BUT I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL.
THE AUTOMATIC CLOSURE ON THE REAR SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE AND LOCK THE DOOR IN PLACE. THE SENSOR BEEPS BUT ALLOWS YOU TO DRIVE EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS NOT SHUT ALL THE WAY AND LATCHED.
AT RANDOM SPEEDS, ON CURVES AND STRAIGHTAWAYS, THE TRACTION LIGHTS ALARMS AND ENGAGES THE BRAKES. THIS SEEMS REALLY DANGEROUS. OUR MECHANIC DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IS THE CAUSE OR HOW TO FIX IT.
WHEN DRIVING IN PERFECTLY DRY CONDITIONS AND GOING ANYWHERE FROM 30-70 MPH ON A WINDING ROAD OR HIGHWAY, THE VSC LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE ALARM WILL SOUND AND YOU CAN'T ACCELERATE. IT'S VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE GO FOR A DRIVE ON A WINDING ROAD OR HIGHWAY. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER SIENNA OWNERS. IT'S CLEARLY A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. TOYOTA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AS ALL THE REPAIR SHOPS WE HAVE GONE TO CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH going up a curvy road, the ABS service warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power for several seconds before independently regaining motive power. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
REAR POWER HATCH BEGINS TO OPEN, THEN IMMEDIATELY CLOSES. UNABLE TO OPEN THE HATCH ALL THE WAY MANUALLY WITHOUT THE POWER FUNCTION TAKING OVER, AND CLOSING THE HATCH BACK DOWN. VEHICLE WAS ON FLAT SURFACE ON THE STREET. OCCURRED DURING DAYTIME, AND TEMPERATURE AT AROUND 85 DEGREES.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 5 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THROUGH OREGON, THE DRIVERS SIDE CORNER WINDOW SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DANGLING BY THE TWO WIRES THAT ATTACH THE MOLDED IN GLASS ANTENNAE. OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND SWERVED AS I'M SURE THEY THOUGH THE 2 FOOT WIDE, 3 FOOT LONG PIECE OF GLASS SWING AROUND THE OUT SIDE OF THE VAN WAS GOING TO DETACH ANY SECOND AND SAIL INTO ONE OF THEIR CARS.
OIL LINE RUPTURED DUE TO RUBBER FAILURE. THIS OIL LINE WAS REPLACED IN 2012 WITH SAME LINE AS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED. FAILURE CAN BE CATASTROPHIC FOR ENGINE AS OIL IS DISCHARGED QUICKLY AND WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATION. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHEN ODOR AND NOISE MADE ME STOP AND CHECK. HAD TO BE TOWED AND REPAIRED. COST OVER 500.00.
OIL COOLING HOSE BROKE AND ALL ENGINE OIL LEAKED FROM ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BUT MADE TO PARKING SPOT. NO WARNING OF EVENT AND NO DASH/ENGINE LIGHT SIGNALING PROBLEM. ONLY OIL ON GROUND UNDER VAN SIGNALED PROBLEM. VAN WAS SUBJECTED TO RECALL IN 2011 WHICH REPLACED HOSE. DEALER REPLACED PARTS AS REPAIR WITH A COMPLETE REDESIGNED PART REMOVING RUBBER HOSED ALL TOGETHER. THIS WAS NOT A RECALL BUT OWNERS EXPENSE. MANUFACTURER NEVER NOTIFIED OWNER OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART OR EVENT POSSIBILITY.
I HAD THE FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED A FEW WEEKS AGO. THIS PAST WEEKEND ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACED. WHEN DRIVING OFF THE DEALER AFTER THE TIRE REPLACEMENT, I NOTICED THE ABS AND VSC LIGHTS WERE ON. TURNED BACK AND TOOK THE MINIVAN BACK TO THE DEALER. NEXT DAY SERVICE MGR SAID ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A $2500 PART, PLUS LABOR.
I PURCHASED THIS TOYOTA BRAND NEW IN LATE 2007 AND IT WAS DELIVERED IN EARLY 2008. IT WAS MODIFIED BY BRAUNABILITY TO BE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. THIS MEANS THE ORIGINAL FLOOR WAS CUT OUT AND A NEW SUB-FLOOR WAS WELDED IN ITS PLACE TO ACCOMMODATE THE WHEELCHAIR. I NOTICED A LOT OF PREMATURE RUST ON THE EXTERIOR MODIFIED SUB-FLOOR IN 2016 I CONTACTED BRAUNABILITY WITH MY CONCERNS ONLY TO BE DISMISSED BY THEM BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THE VAN WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS PROACTIVE AND TOOK THE VAN TO A LOCAL BRAUNABILITY DEALER WHERE THE VAN WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED TO SANDBLAST THE EXTERIOR UNDERSIDE AND REPAIR EXTENSIVE RUST DAMAGE AND UNDERCOATED THE REPAIRS. THIS WAS DONE AT MY EXPENSE AND I PAID APPROXIMATELY $7K DOLLARS. WELL RECENTLY I HAD TO MAKE A REPAIR ON THE INTERIOR OF THE VAN ONLY TO DISCOVER THE FLOOR IN THE INSIDE WAS ALSO ROTTING AWAY DUE TO RUST. THIS RUST IS ONLY OCCURRING ON THE METAL THAT BRAUNABILITY USED IN THEIR MODIFICATIONS. I CONTACTED BRAUNABILITY AGAIN TO RAISE MY CONCERNS ONLY TO BE DISMISSED AGAIN. THEY STUCK TO THEIR OUT OF WARRANTY ARGUMENT. THIS VAN HAS BEEN MAINTAIN IN A NEAR NEW CONDITION AND ALL THE ORIGINAL TOYOTA PARTS ARE IN NEAR NEW APPEARANCE BUT THE RUST IS ONLY ON BRAUNABILITY METAL. I ALSO KNOW OF 2 OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO DEALT WITH SIMILAR RUST ISSUE AND HAD TO TOTAL THEIR VANS DUE TO DAMAGE BEYOND REPAIR AND THEIR VANS WERE STILL OPERATIONAL ASIDE FROM RUST DAMAGE. THIS RUST WAS CAUGHT BY ME BECAUSE I AM VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT MAINTENANCE OF MY VAN AND KNOW RUST IS CANCER TO CARS. I NEVER EXPECTED THE RUST TO BE IN THE INTERIOR AS WELL ON A 10 YEAR OLD VAN WITH ONLY 105K MILES. THIS WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE IF BRAUNABILITY HAD TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INADEQUATE METAL WORK. I PAID 40 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THESE MODIFICATION TO MY 07 TOYOTA SIENNA. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ROTTING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF LEFT UNCHECKED.
I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM THIS WEEKEND ON A HIGHWAY AND I NOTICED A THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN I NOTICED AN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND INSTINCTIVELY I KNEW THAT WAS A BAD SIGN FOR ALL SIX OF US MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. SO I IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE NEAREST EXIT RAMP AND THAT'S WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND I COULDN'T MOVE ANY LONGER. WE CALLED OUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR TOWING AND THE COPS TO STEER CLEAR OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC SINCE WE'RE ON THE SECOND LANE ON THE EXIT RAMP. I THANK GOD THAT NOTHING HAPPENED TO US BUT IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO MY VEHICLE WITH ONLY 93,000 MILES WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR, THE DOOR DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME GOOEY AND VERY SHINY, REFLECTING THE SUN AND CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION WHERE VISIBILITY IS IMPAIRED.
THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I HAVE FILED WITH TOYOTA REGARDING THE REAR VIEW VENTING WINDOW: I AM WRITING A SECOND EMAIL REGRINDING MY SERIOUS CONCERN AND DISSATISFACTION REGARDING THE RESOLUTION OF THE LEFT REAR VENTING WINDOW ON MY 2007 SIENNA COMPLETELY DISLODGING FROM THE SEAL AND FALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING WITH PASSENGERS IN THE REAR OF THE CAR WHILE MOVING. I HAVE KNOW SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP (LITTLETON TOYOTA) WHO DECLINED AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT AND REPEATEDLY INFORMED ME IT WAS TOYOTA INC. WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD MY TWO DIFFERENT SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL WHO SAID THE REPAIR WOULD BE "UNDER $30.00". I WAS THEN TOLD BY A 3 INDIVIDUAL, CASSANDRA, AFTER I DROPPED THE CAR OFF TO GET FIXED , THAT NOW IT WOULD COST OVER $850.00 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE WINDOW NEEDED TO BE FIXED. I CALLED TOYOTA INC. AND SPOKE WITH CORTNEY WHO PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS OUT OF LUCK AND WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER AND WAS CALLED BY MARIA, WHO AGAIN TOLD ME THAT I AS THE CUSTOMER WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE COST GIVEN THE WARRANTY OF THREE YEARS HAD PASSED. NEVER MIND THE SERIOUS POTENTIAL RISK FOR INJURY, WHICH NEITHER REPRESENTATIVE WOULD TRUTHFULLY ANSWER. I HAVE NOW WRITTEN THE NHTSB AND MASSACHUSETTS ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE TO FILE COMPLAINTS. I WILL BE FILING A SMALL CLAIMS CASE TO SEEK REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST OF THIS WINDOW AND RESOLUTION REGARDING THE RIGHT REAR VENTING WINDOW AS WELL. THIS IS SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TOYOTA INC. AND THEY SHOULD BE ACTIVELY TRYING TO REASSURE ME IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN AND APPRECIATIVE THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED. I JUST BOUGHT A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA IN MARCH OF 2018 IT IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE IT ONLY HAD 70,000 MILES ON IT IS WHY I BOUGHT IT. BUT THE DASH LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND THE MAN SAID I NEEDED A NEW AIR BAG SYSTEM. I'V ONLY PUT ABOUT 7,000 MILES ON SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. WHY IS HAPPENING ? DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE OR HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALSER TOYOTA (4401 AMERICAN BLVD W, BLOOMINGTON, MN 55437 (612) 294-0291) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC AND A REPAIR FEE WOULD BE CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
IN WINTER WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FALL TO 30 AND WHEN STEERING GET A LOAD SQUEAKING NOISE AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER (FIRST WINTER) WINTER AND THEY INFORMED THAT IT IS NOT RE-CREATABLE. MANY TIMES THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN BECAUSE IT IS NOT RE-CREATABLE. AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED I WAS ASKED TO CHANGE THE STEERING FLUID TO FIX IT. I DID NOT SINCE IT WAS NOT DUE TO USAGE/HANDLING THE VEHICLE AND IT IS DUE TO FAULT IN MANUFACTURE. NEXT YEAR WE WERE INFORMED THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I NEED TO CHANGE THE STEERING FLUID. I MENTIONED TO THE DEALER SHOULD INFORM THE TOYOTA HEAD OFFICE ON THIS BUT NOTHING WAS DOCUMENT NOR IT WAS FOLLOWED UP BY THE LOCAL DEALER. I AM LEANING TOWARDS THE WARRANTY COVERAGE RATHER THE CONSUMER TO PAY BECAUSE STEERING FLUIDS SHOULD PERFORM AS IT SUPPOSED TO AND DO THE JOB IT SUPPOSED TO. ANY FAILURE DUE TO STEERING FLUID AND ANY DAMAGE CAUSED WILL BE TOYOTA RESPONSIBILITY. IT IS 11 YEARS PASSED AND WILL CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND HOPING THIS WILL BE FIXED AT ANY POINT OF TIME BEFORE THE CRASH OCCURS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE. OIL COOLER PRESSURE HOSE EXPLODE WHILE DRIVING WITH MY KIDS BACK FROM THE CHURCH OIL WERE LEAKING ALL OVER THE STREET THE CAR WAS SMOKING IN FRONT DRIVERS WERE HONKING AND SCREAM YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE AND A NASTY SMOKE WHERE COMING OUT OF IT. IF I WAS NOT ALERTED BY A GOOD SAMARITAN MY KIDS AND I WILL PAY OUR LIVES. I CALLED MAIN OFFICE TOYOTA AND MADE A COMPLAIN BUT THEY REFUSED TO HELP ALTHOUGH THIS PART 'HOSE IS NOT USED BY TOYOTA COMPANY FOR LACK OF SAFETY. THE SUPERVISOR WAS NOT LISTENING AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS CONSUMERS LIVES INSTEAD HE SAID OH LUCKILY SOME BODY TOLD THE CAR IS SMOKING AND WE WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IF IT CAUGHT ON FIRE OR THERE IS LIFE LOST. THIS RESPOND IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE HE ALSO REFUSE TO EMAIL ME A LETTER SAYING THIS PART OF THE CAR WAS NOT RECALLED ALTHOUGH IT DID.
AIR BAG INDICATOR COMES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY AND APPEARS TO BE CORRECTED BY MOVING LOOSE WIRES UNDER FRONT SEATS. WIRES LOOK TO HAVE BAD CONNECTION. VERY UNPREDICTABLE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURING SINCE 59,000 MILES FOR THE PAST YEAR. CAN HAPPEN WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR AT REST. TOYOTA WILL NOT ADMIT PROBLEM.
THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL SHOWING ON OUR VEHICLE (RECALL #14V273) BUT WE HAD THIS RECALL TAKEN CARE OF AT A TOYOTA DEALER IN GERMANY (RECEIPTS ATTACHED). THE GERMAN TOYOTA DEALER COULD NOT CLEAR THE RECALL IN THE SYSTEM AND OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER IN ELLICOTT CITY, MD COULD NOT CLEAR THE RECALL EVEN WITH OUR RECEIPTS. HOW CAN I HAVE THIS RECALL CLEARED IN THE SYSTEM? IT WAS AN ISSUE WHEN WE SHIPPED OUR VEHICLE BACK FROM GERMANY (SINCE YOU CAN'T HAVE OPEN RECALLS WHEN SHIPPING).

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (BURNSVILLE TOYOTA, 14790 BUCK HILL RD, BURNSVILLE, MN 55306) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL COOLANT LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE MAY BE ENGINE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL OR WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,766.
INTERMITTENT VSC ACTIVATION AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING STRAIGHT FROM A STOP POSITION. THIS CONDITION IS ALWAYS ACCOMPANIED BY THE INSTRUMENT PANEL VSC LIGHT AND AUDIBLE WARNING BUZZER TURNING ON AT THE SAME TIME. BRAKES ACTIVATED AT SAME TIME CAUSING SKID
AT MY 120,000 SERVICE, THE TOYOTA DEALER TECHNICIAN REPORTED A LEAKING FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. HE SAID IT WOULD TAKE 16 HOURS TO REPAIR. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO MENTIONED THAT HE HAD 3 TOYOTA CARS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME THING. THIS SEEMS BEYOND COINCIDENTAL. CLEARLY, TOYOTA HAS A PROBLEM WITH LEAKING SEALS. THE DIFFICULTY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM TRANSLATED INTO A BILL OF $1,404.60 PLUS $31.79 FOR A RENTAL CAR. THE BILL MAY HAVE BEEN MORE: THE CAR'S RACK AND PINION WAS ALSO LEAKING, SO SOME OF THE LABOR WAS SHARED WITH THAT JOB. THIS AMOUNT SEEMS EXTREME AND EITHER TOYOTA HAS FAULTY SEALS OR, IF THIS IS A "NORMAL" WEAR AND TEAR ITEM AT 120,000 MILES, TOYOTA HAS MADE IT WAY TOO DIFFICULT TO FIX. EITHER WAY, THIS AMOUNT OF EXPENSE IS INORDINATE.
2004-2010 TOYOTA SIENNA POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE WARRANTY EXTENSION ZTS CABLE ON MY 2007 MODEL BROKE AND RENDERS THE PASSENGER REAR SLIDING DOOR INOPERABLE AND IS NOT FULLY CLOSED. THE CONDITION HAPPENED WHILE LOADING MY 6 CHILDREN INTO THE VEHICLE, LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR, WHICH ISN'T FULLY SECURE IN THE CLOSED POSITION . THE ONLY OPERATIONAL PASSENGER DOOR IS ON DRIVER SIDE (STREET SIDE), MY CHILDREN HAVE TO ENTER/EXIT VEHICLE ON BUSY NYC STREET. I CALLED TOYOTA UNDER THE CABLE EXTENSION WARRANTY HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS 9 MONTHS PAST THE CUTOFF. I CAN NOT AFFORD THE REPAIR BILL THAT COULD EXCEED 2K.. I WORRY FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN SINCE THESE CABLES CAN SNAP AT ANYTIME RENDING THE DOOR IN THE OPEN POSITION. IF IN AN ACCIDENT MY PASSENGERS WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE QUICKLY. I FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD COVER THE REPAIR OF THEIR FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT VIA A RECALL.

PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR NO LONGER WORKS UNDER POWER, MUST BE OPERATED MANUALLY, YET WHEN CLOSING THE POWER SYSTEM ENGAGES AND HELPS WITH LAST FEW INCHES
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON SLIGHT INCLINE IN DRIVEWAY (NOT RUNNING). KEY WAS IN IGNITION, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING AND IT WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD SHIFTED VEHICLE OUT OF PARK INTO NEUTRAL CAUSING IT TO ROLL DOWN A HILL AND IMPACT SEVERAL TREES (NO INJURIES). AFTER THE INCIDENT, WE HAVE FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE CAN OCCASIONALLY BE EASILY SHIFTED OUT OF PARK WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND WITHOUT APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. MOST OF THE TIME IT FUNCTIONS AS IT SUPPOSED TO (AND WON'T LET YOU TAKE IT OUT OF PARK).

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO A NEARBY FUEL STATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE OIL COOLING HOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVE BELTS IN THE TENSIONING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY EXTENDED A WARRANTY, BUT WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,600.
OIL COOLING HOSE RUPTURED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT APPROX. 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. BLACK SMOKE BEGAN TO POUR OUT THE BACK OF THE CAR. OIL SPRAYED OVER THE ENGINE AND UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR AND RENDERED THE CAR UNDRIVABLE. DAMAGE ALSO SUSTAINED TO THE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER SYSTEM.
