THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON. IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON, SOMETIMES THE LIGHT TURNS OFF. OTHER TIMES, MOVING THE CONNECTORS UNDER THE FRONT SEATS CAUSES IT TO TURN OFF. *TR
DRIVER AIR BAG LIGHT IS FLASHING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN STANDING. I CHECK ONLINE, THERE WERE 13 SAME REPORTED CASES. SOME SAID THERE WAS RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, BUT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL FROM TOYOTA. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR SLIDING DOORS FAILED TO OPEN CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ELECTRONIC SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE WHEN THE BUTTONS ON REMOTE OR DASHBOARD IS PRESSED. THIS COULD LEAD TO A SCENARIO WHERE SOMEONE IS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND CANNOT GET OUT. ESPECIALLY, LIKE A SMALL CHILD. *TR
I NOTICED CRACKS ON DASHBOARD AT DRIVER SIDE. IT CROSSED ABOUT 1/3 OF THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD. IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAS SLICED THEM UP WITH A KNIFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP, THE CONTACT NOTICED STEAM RISING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS COVERED IN OIL AND THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF OIL ON THE GROUND. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OIL FEED LINE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,464.
THE REAR LIFTGATE FAILS TO STAY OPEN AND WILL CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY VERY QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY IF PERSONS USING THE REAR LUGGAGE AREA CANNOT MOVE OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE IT CLOSES. *JS
FAILURE OF POWER SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER SIDE. UNABLE TO OPEN OR CLOSE DOOR. MANUAL USE ONLY AND HARD TO OPEN/CLOSE. HAD TO REPLACE DOOR RELEASE MOTOR AND POWER SLIDER DOOR ACTUATOR AT COST OF $655. *TR
BACK ON AUGUST 7, MY VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO BALISE TOYOTA BECAUSE OF A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEY REPLACED ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS AND IGINITION COILS 1 & 6. ON OCTOBER 24, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND I BROUGHT IT BACK TO BALISE TOYOTA. THEY SAW MISFIRE CODES. THE CLEARED THE CODES AND COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT, SO NOTHING WAS FIXED. ON DECEMBER 7, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME, DISSATISFIED WITH BALISE, I BROUGHT IT TO COLONIAL AUTO. AGAIN, DAN MURRAY, THE OWNER OF COLONIAL AUTO FOUND MISFIRE CODES AND FAULTY IGNITION COILS FOR NUMBERS 2 - 5. THIS RESULTED IN A TOTAL CHARGE OF $961. I CONTACTED TOYOTA, BECAUSE I AM UNSATISFIED WITH THE RELABILITY OF THE SIENNA AND THE LACK OF CARE ON BALISE TOYOTA'S FOLLOW THROUGH. THEY SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS BACK IN AUGUST, BUT NOW MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND TOYOTA WON'T HELP. *TR
TRAVELING ON EAST BOND HWY 66 AROUND 07:00 AM WITH A SPEED AROUND 20 MPH THE FIRE STARTED TO COME FROM ENGINE DRIVER SIDE. STOPPED THE CAR & TOOK CHILDREN OUT AND WATCH THE WHOLE CAR BURNED UNTIL FIRE ENGINE SHOWED UP. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BAFFLE ON THE VALVE COVER WAS FRACTURED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER AS A TRADE-IN. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON FREEWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN ENGINE NOISE STARTED. I SOON NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON AND STOPPED THE VAN. ADDED MORE OIL AND RESTARTED THE VAN. I THEN INVESTIGATED AND FOUND OIL LEAKING OUT OF A RUPTURED RUBBER OIL COOLER HOSE. I LOST NEARLY 6 QUARTS OF OIL THAT HAD BEEN PUMPED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. (POSSIBLY CAUSING A TRAFFIC HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS) TOWED VAN TO DEALER AND HAD TO PAY OVER $250.00 FOR REPAIRS TO THE OIL COOLER LINES. NEW LINES ARE NOW ALL METAL LINES. DEALER REFUSES TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE. *TR
DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL, WHICH IS 3 MILES AWAY, AND I SUDDENLY SMELL SMOKE. WHEN I WAS COMING BACK, I SUDDENLY HERE A NOISE. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE VEHICLE STOPS. I HAD TO HIRE A WRECKER TO BRING IT TO MY HOUSE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS AT MY HOUSE, I TRIED TO FIND WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE WAS AND WHEN LOOKING UNDER THE VEHICLE, I NOTICE THE OIL HAD COME OUT FROM SOMEWHERE. I OPENED THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE TO CHECK FOR THE OIL AND IT WAS EMPTY. ABOUT A MONTH AGO, THE DEALER MADE THE OIL SERVICE. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V273000 (TIRES). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REMOVED THE SPARE TIRE HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED FAILURE.
I EXTENDED THE REAR HATCH ALL THE WAY OPEN TO UNLOAD THE TRUNK, BUT SURPRISINGLY IT DID NOT REMAIN OPEN AS IT NORMALLY WOULD. THE REAR POWER DOOR LIFT STRUTS FAILED, AND THE TRUNK CAME GENTLY DOWN ON ME. THE DOOR WAS VERY HEAVY TO KEEP OPEN WITH ONE ARM WHILE I FINISHED UNLOADING THE TRUNK WITH THE OTHER. OVER THE COURSE OF THE FOLLOWING DAYS, THE STRUTS WORSENED AND THE DOOR BECAME VERY HEAVY AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN. I THEN BROUGHT IT TO THE TOYOTA OF BEDFORD DEALER FOR SERVICE, AT A TOTAL REPAIR COST OF AROUND $400. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WON'T RETRACT BACK TO ORIGINAL POSITION AND IS CURRENTLY LOOSE. THE DEALER IS CHARGING $48 TO $90 TO FIX. THE BELT IS FOLDING WHEN BEING PULLED AND STUCK IN THAT POSITION CURRENTLY. *JB
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON MY 2007 SIENNA STARTED FLASHING. THE TOYOTA DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAILURE IN THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE DEALER INSTALLED UPDATED AIR BAG CONNECTORS AND PIG-TAIL HARNESS AS PER TSB. DEALER'S CHARGE: $337.39. A REVIEW OF THE NHTSA DATABASE OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR SHOWS 12 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OUT OF A TOTAL OF 173, AS OF 9/12/2013. GIVEN THE CRITICAL NATURE OF THIS EQUIPMENT, THE NEED FOR IT TO OPERATE IN AN EMERGENCY AND THE FREQUENCY OF THIS FAILURE IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD EITHER RECALL AFFECTED VEHICLES OR MAKE THIS REPAIR AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE OIL CHANGED, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VVTI OIL PRESSURE LINE WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE OIL PRESSURE LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
HANDLE MELTED AND BECAME STICKY ON REAR LIFTGATE DOOR OF TOYOTA SIENNA CE.
THE REAR HATCH OPENER IS MADE OF SOME RUBBER COMPOSITION THAT HAS MELTED AWAY AND WILL AT TIMES NOT EVEN OPEN REAR HATCH. NUMEROUS ONLINE INCIDENTS REFLECT SIMILAR DESCRIPTION OF MELTED RUBBER THAT LEAVES FINGERS COATED IN HAZARDOUS MATERIAL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN REAR HATCH. *TR
THE OIL COOLING LINE SUDDENLY RUPUTURED WITH NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS OR LEAKS. *TR
REAR DOOR LATCH HANDLE BECAME HOT AND MELTED. USED DUCT TAPE TO COVER HANDLE. THE HANDLE STOPPED WORKING IN DECEMBER. THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. *TR
THE REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCHES FAIL. THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED DUE TO LATCH/LOCKING MECHANISM FAILURE. I HAD A DOG IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN DOOR LATCH FAILED...LUCKILY THE DOG DID NOT FALL OUT. IF A PERSON HAD AN UNSECURED CHILD IN A REAR SEAT THEY COULD VERY EASILY FALL OUT! THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME THE LOCK WAS NOT LUBRICATED WHICH WAS AN OUTRIGHT LIE BECAUSE TOYOTA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT SINCE OCTOBER 2010. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR MINE AT THEIR EXPENSE BECAUSE MY MILEAGE IS OVER 120,000 NOW...THEIR DEALER LIED TO ME REGARDING THE PROBLEM AT 56,000 WHICH WAS WHEN I FIRST REPORTED IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE OIL SENSOR TUBE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE DASHBOARD SEEMS TO BE BREAKING DOWN, MELTING AND/OR STICKY TO A DEGREE IT IS NOW SHINY AND REFLECTS LIGHTS BACK INTO THE DRIVER/PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ON SUNNY DAYS. THIS CREATES A GLARE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT WHEN OPERATING THIS VAN. AT TIMES, IT BECOMES HARD TO SEE CARS, STOP LIGHTS AND PEDESTRIANS. A LOCAL CHANNEL HERE IN HOUSTON RAN A STORY ON THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM CONCERNING DASH BOARDS THAT ARE BREAKING DOWN AND CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES. THANKS, *TR
UPON STARTING UP THE VEHICLE THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR BEGAN BLINKING INSTESD OF GOING OUT. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT WOULD BE $60-$115 JUST TO LOOK AT IT AND HE COULDN'T IMAGINE WHAT IT WAS. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE AND SEEING THE HIGH COST OF REPAIR AND THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I WILL BE TAKING TO AN INDEPENDANT MECHANIC TO GET HIS THOUGHTS. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT SO I DO NOT FEEL AS IF THIS IS A COMPONENT THAT SHOULD GO BAD. AND IF IT DOES THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIR AS THIS IS A SAFETY COMPONENT. *TR
LEFT SLIDING FAILED TO CLOSE PROPERLY. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE TO WORK WHILE ON A PARKWAY (WITH NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ON) SUDDENLY THERE WAS A DRAGGING FEELING AS IF THE PARKING BRAKE WAS APPLIED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF AT THE NEAREST EXIT AND PULLED OVER, MY BRAKE PEDAL FELT EXTREMELY HARD LIKE IT WAS STUCK DOWN. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PULLED THE BRAKE PEDAL UP WITH MY FOOT, THEN PUSHED DOWN ON IT SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN, AT THIS TIME IT SEEMED FINE BUT I DECIDED NOT TO GO TO WORK BUT DRIVE DIRECTLY TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHICH WAS NOT FAR FROM WHERE I WAS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I AGAIN PULLED OVER AND REPEATED THE "PULLING UP OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AT WHICH TIME I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, I THEN CONTINUED ABOUT A BLOCK AND A HALF TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. UPON ARRIVAL THAT IS WHEN MY DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS. AFTER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM OF A BENT BRACKET ON MY BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY I DID SOME RESEARCH OF MY OWN AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A FACTORY RECALL OF THE 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA'S FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (THE PART NUMBER 47110-08080). NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP, TOYOTA MOTOR COMPANY OR TOYOTA EXTRA CARE (THE VERY EXPENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED) WANTED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED IF I DID NOT EXCESSIVELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE, WHEN I ASKED THEM WHAT THEY CONSIDERED EXCESSIVE THEY COULD NOT ANSWER. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ON THE PARKWAY THAT I WAS TRAVELING ON, BUT I DID EXIT AT THE FIRST POSSIBLE ONE AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE TO THE DEALERSHIP/SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I AM EXTREMELY UNHAPPY AND QUITE HONESTLY NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE VEHICLE AND THE TOYOTA MOTOR COMPANY ITSELF. I HOPE THAT TOYOTA WILL ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAULTY PART AND TAKE THE PROPER MEASURES TO CORRECT THIS VERY UNSAFE ISSUE! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DOOR MOTOR OR THE CABLE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *TR
STARTED VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAG SRS LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING.THE LIGHT FLASHED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS THEN WENT OUT. ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER IT BEGAN FLASHING AGAIN.THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS IT HAS BEEN ON AND OFF .IT WILL BE OFF 2DAYS OR SO THEN FLASH FOR A DAY OR TWO. IT WAS OFF YESTERDAY BUT ON TODAY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON LINE AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT BEEN TO A DEALER BECAUSE OF THE HIGH COST MANY PEOPLE ARE BEING QUOTED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. SOME PEOPLE HAD THEIR CARS REPAIRED ONLY TO FIND THE PROBLEM RETURN.I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. WHEN IT FLASHES, IS IT OPERATIONAL? WE MAY BE DRIVING OUR CARS WITHOUT AIR BAG PROTECTION. *TR
FAILURE OF A DEFECTIVE RUBBER OIL COOLER HOSE OCCURRED AT APP. 5:30 PM ON 2/11/2013 WHILE THE SIENNA WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET. THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY LOST MOST OF ITS OIL, AND INCURRED SIGNIFICANT AND VERY COSTLY ENGINE DAMAGE (RESULTING IN THE NEED FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE SHORT-BLOCK, PLUS OTHER COLLATERAL ENGINE REPAIRS THAT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA ENGINEERING EVENTUALLY DETERMINED NECESSARY). SEE TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN T-SB-0201, DATED 12/21/2011. THE OIL "SEEPAGE" TERM USED BY TOYOTA IN THIS TSB IS A COMPLETE MISNOMER, AS THE OIL LOSS WAS RAPID AND RESULTED IN OIL SPRAYING PROFUSELY UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY COMMUNICATED ANY INFORMATION TO ITS UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMER REGARDING THIS SPECIFIC DEFECTIVE PART. ON 3/3/2011, THE CUSTOMER DISCOVERED THROUGH HIS OWN PERSONAL RESEARCH THE SCOPE AND MAGNITUDE OF TOYOTA'S PERVASIVE FAILURE HISTORY WITH A VERY SIMILAR DEFECTIVE RUBBER OIL SUPPLY HOSE. THE DEFECTIVE RUBBER OIL SUPPLY HOSE IS THE SUBJECT OF A CURRENT MULTI-PART LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN (LSC) PRIOR LAUNCHED BY TOYOTA, HOWEVER TOYOTA IS INCREDIBLY CLAIMING TO THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS LSC CAMPAIGN (WHICH IS SET TO EXPIRE ON 3/31/2013) DOES NOT COVER THE DEFECTIVE OIL COOLER HOSE. IN THE CUSTOMER'S OPINION, TOYOTA HAS DEMONSTRATED GROSS NEGLIGENCE IN NOT INCLUDING COVERAGE OF BOTH DEFECTIVE RUBBER OIL HOSE PARTS UNDER THE CURRENT LSC (OR, NOT LAUNCHING A SEPARATE LSC ADDRESSING THE DEFECTIVE OIL COOLER HOSE). THIS DEFECTIVE RUBBER OIL COOLER HOSE COULD BE DESCRIBED AS A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR OWNERS OF AFFECTED TOYOTA HIGHLANDERS (2008 - 2011), HIGHLANDER HVS (2011), SIENNAS (2007 - 2011), AND VENZAS (2009 - 2011). 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO LOSS OF REAR VIEW MONITOR/ CAMERA WHEN VEHICLE BATTERY DIES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE COULD NOT FIND A SENTENCE OR A PARAGRAPH IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL, EXPLAINING HOW TO RECOVER THE LOSS OF THE REAR VIEW MONITOR/CAMERA AFTER THE BATTERY DIED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE SENT TO CALIFORNIA. THE CONSUMER ORDERED A MAP DVD THROUGH AN INDEPENDENT VEHICLE REPAIR GARAGE AND HAD IT LOADED AND THAT REACTIVATED THE REAR VIEW CAMERA, CD PLAYER AND RADIO. *JB
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS NO LONGER WORK PROPERLY. *TR
REAR DOOR LATCH RUBBER ASSEMBLY HAS MELTED AND BECOMES HOT TO THE TOUCH. THE CIRCUIT UNDER THE MELTED RUBBER HAS DIRECT CONTACT TO MY FINGERS WHILE ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE BACK DOOR. AND APPEARS TO BE A FIRE ISSUE. SINCE THE BACK DOOR IS NO LONGER OPERATIONAL, IT MAY CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES FOR PASSENGERS SITTING IN THE BACK ROW OF THE VAN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD HAD CRACKS CAUSING A GLARE FROM THE SUN THAT IMPAIRED THE CONTACT'S VISION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WITH CAR COMPLETELY OFF, THE SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WAS FULLY OPENED. I WAS LEANING INTO THE CAR PUTTING GROCERIES IN WHEN THE DOOR AUTOMATICALLY STARTING CLOSING ON MY BODY. IT DID NOT STOP AND STARTED CRUSHING ME. I COULD NOT GET OUT AND AS A RESULT HAVE LEFT HIP AND RIGHT KNEE PAIN. THE DOOR FINALLY OPENED ON IT'S OWN. THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE SENSED RESISTANCE OR SOMETHING THERE BUT IT DID NOT. IF I WERE I SMALL CHILD I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR UNRELATED REPAIRS WHEN THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT BRACKET WAS FRACTURED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
AFTER A SHORT TRIP, 5 MILES, I WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED SOME FLUIDS ON THE CEMENT. I CHECKED THE LIQUID AND WAS NOT SURE IF IT WAS COOLANT OR TRANSMISSION FLUIDS SO I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND HE RECOMMENDED THAT I SHOULD HAVE IT TOWED IN .IT TURNS OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT A CONNECTOR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR CRACKED AND WAS MIXING THE COOLANT WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ,IT APPEARS THAT A DEFECTIVE FITTING WAS THE PROBLEM. IT COST ME $977.3 TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION. MY MECHANIC SAID IF I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED DRIVING WITH THESE 2 FLUIDS MIXING I WOULD HAVE DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION BEYOND REPAIR FOR A BILL OF $3,000. MORE IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE CARS PEOPLE SHOULD AT LEAST BE NOTIFIED WHAT TO WATCH FOR OR BETTER YET REPAIRED BY THE COMPANY. *TR
I OPENED THE AUTOMATIC LIFTGATE TO MY 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA AND UPON IT REACHING THE FULLY OPEN POSITION AT THE TOP, IT IMMEDIATELY DROPPED AND STARTED TO CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED ME AN INJURY IF I HADN'T QUICKLY MOVED OUT OF THE WAY. EVERY TIME I OPEN THE LIFTGATE, WHETHER I DO IT USING MY KEY FOB, FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, OR BY LIFTING THE HANDLE, THE SAME THING HAPPENS CAUSING RISK OF INJURY TO ME AND MY CHILDREN. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT DESPITE SIMILAR ISSUES BEING REPORTED WITH 2004 TO 2006 TOYOTA SIENNAS, WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN THE ISSUANCE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN 08V244000. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT IS FLASHING. *TR
ON MON 10/22/2012 AT 11:15 AM I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION DRIVING MY VAN. I WAS TRAVELING ON I-696E IN DETROIT AT A CONSTANT 70MPH, THEN SLOWED TO 45MPH DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. AS TRAFFIC CLEARED THE CONSTRUCTION, I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PASS A SEMI-TRUCK. I FELT THE ACCELERATOR CONTINUE TO DEPRESS, I COMPLETELY PULLED MY FOOT OFF BUT THE PEDAL DID NOT COME BACK NOR DID THE VEHICLE SLOW DOWN. RATHER, IT DID JUST THE OPPOSITE AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE HARD WITH NO RESPONSE--THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THEN I PUT THE VAN IN NEUTRAL TO SLOW DOWN THE ENGINE WITH NO RESULTS, THE VAN CONTINUED INCREASING 60+MPH WITH NO FOOT ON ACCELERATOR. THIS IS WHEN I BECAME EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY INTERFERENCE FROM THE FLOOR MAT AND NONE WAS SEEN. I TAPPED GAS PEDAL - NO RESPONSE. NEXT I PUT VAN BACK IN DRIVE AND BRAKED --NO RESPONSE AGAIN. THEN I DOWNSHIFTED TO 4TH, THE ENGINE DID NOT SLOW, AND FURTHER DOWNSHIFTED TO 3RD GEAR. FINALLY, THE ENGINE RESPONDED AND SLOWED. I USED THE GAS PEDAL CAUTIOUSLY AS I THEN SHIFTED TO 4TH SO THAT I COULD EXIT THE FREEWAY. I PARKED AT MY OFFICE & IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY HUSBAND FIRST AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND I THEN IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE OUR TOYOTA SUBURBAN DEALER. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN FOR INSPECTION. I WAS STILL SHAKING WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND EXTREMELY UPSET. AFTER TWO INSPECTIONS, THEY STATED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS CAUSED BY THE FLOOR MAT. ALTHOUGH THIS SEEMS REASONABLE, IT DOES NOT EXPLAIN WHY BRAKES FAILED TO OVERCOME THE ENGINE, AND SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL FAILED TO DISENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE SCARES ME TO DEATH. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT. I CONSIDER MYSELF A SERIOUS WITNESS AS A REGISTERED NURSE (RN/BSN) WITH 20 YR MANUAL DRIVING. REF TOYOTA CASE #[XXX] AND #[XXX]. MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GETS BELOW 60 DEGREES, THE REAR HATCH DOOR DOES NOT STAY OPEN, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE AND HAS TRAPPED MYSELF AS WELL AS MY HUSBAND AND BANGED MY SON IN THE HEAD. WE ARE LUCKY NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR EITHER WOULD NOT OPEN OR WOULD OPEN HALFWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
RACK AND PINION BELLOWS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TORN DUE TO COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE ADJACENT FUEL/VAPOR LINE; (OBSERVED WHILE CHANGING THE TIRE.). BELLOWS RUBS AGAINST THE FUEL/VAPOR LINE WHEN VEHICLE TURNS LEFT. VEHICLE SERVICED REGULARLY BY THE DELIVERING DEALER; DEFECT NOT REPORTED TO ME. *TR
TAKATA RECALL - DASHBOARD IS LITERALLY MELTING AND A STICKY SUBSTANCE. WORST OF ALL IT IS SO SHINY, LIKE OIL, AND IS BLINDING WHEN THE SUN HITS IT. I'VE REACHED OUT TO MY TOYOTA DEALER TO HONOR THE RECALL BUT THEY ARE STILL SAYING THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING YET. I'M CONCERNED OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH THE BLINDING GLARE.
