THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD; TOOK THE VAN TO LOCAL DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED CODE P0116 2 PART REPAIR REPLACEMENT OF LF SIDE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY AND WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT WHICH COST OVER $1100; *TR
THE CONCERN IS THE DEFECTIVE RUBBER PAD ON THE SWITCH IN THE SIENNA?S REAR LIFTGATE. THE RUBBER PAD UNDER THE SWITCH THAT IS USED TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE ON THE BACK OF THE SIENNA HAS GONE SOFT AND TAR LIKE. IF I GRAB A PIECE IT PULLS RIGHT OFF LIKE CHEWING GUM. THE BLACK TAR LIKE SUBSTANCE GETS ON YOUR HANDS TOO AND IS HARD TO WASH OFF. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS COLD WEATHER, ONCE IT GOES BELOW 35 DEGREE F THE DOOR HANDLE SWITCH WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN. I THE EVENT OF A CRASH YOU COULDN'T OPEN THE REAR HATCH TO EXIT. THIS PART IS UNMISTAKABLY DEFECTIVE. IF THE RUBBER JUST CRACKED I COULD SEE IT AS A WEAR ITEM (LIKE TIRES OR WIPER BLADES). APPARENTLY IN US STATES WITH A WARMER CLIMATE THIS MELTING LATCH DEFECT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM - JUST SEARCH THE INTERNET. DEFECTIVE REAR HANDLE SWITCH (PART# 84840-08010). *TR
IN APPROXIMATELY THE SUMMER OF 2012 (I DO NOT RECALL THE EXACT DATE),TOYOTA RECALLED THE SPARE TIRE SUSPENSION CABLE, BUT DID NOT HAVE A REPAIR AT THE TIME. I WAS INCONVENIENCED FOR MONTHS WITH THE SPARE TIRE IN THE BACK OF MY VAN. THE REPAIR WAS EVENTUALLY COMPLETED, HOWEVER, A RECALL FOR THE REPAIR WAS ISSUED IN THE SUMMER OF 2014. THE SPARE TIRE WAS REMOVED AND AGAIN PLACED IN THE BACK OF MY VAN. TOYOTA IS NOW STATING THAT THERE WILL BE NO REPAIR AVAILABLE UNTIL THE SUMMER OF 2015. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT UNDERSTANDABLE. IT IS SIMPLY AN ATTACHMENT FOR THE SPARE TIRE. AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED WITH TOYOTA, AS WELL. I NEED THE SPACE WHERE THE SPARE TIRE CURRENTLY HAS TO BE, HOWEVER, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITHOUT IT IN MY VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD HAD BECOME SEVERELY CRACKED AT THE STEERING WHEEL AREA AND EXPANDED TO THE AIR BAG AREA. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOY ERRONEOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000. UPDATED 12/11/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A 16 INCH SPLIT GOING ACROSS THE DASHBOARD. UPDATED 12/12/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH SHE ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. SRS LIGHT FLASHES. THE YELLOW CONNECTOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT IS THE CULPRIT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF INCIDENTS ON THIS ON THE AUTO FORUMS. MANY HAVE COMMENTED THAT TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND TOYOTA SHOULD DO A FULL SAFETY RECALL TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU *JS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT WAS SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE, CAUSING A CHAIN REACTION OF VEHICLES CRASHING INTO ONE ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SURGE SEVERAL MORE TIMES BEFORE THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED COMPLETELY OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE POLICE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000. STRUTS ON THE REAR POWER LIFT GATE HAVE FAILED AND REAR GATE WILL OPEN AND IMMEDIATELY START CLOSING WITH NO WAY TO STOP IT. THIS OCCURS WHEN USING INTERIOR BUTTON OR REMOTE KEY FOB. IF OPENED MANUALLY, THE GATE SLAMS CLOSED WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT INJURY DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE DROPPING GATE. RESEARCH INDICATES THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2004-2006 MODELS AND STRUTS WERE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. APPARENTLY THE SAME STRUTS WERE USED ON 2007 MODELS, HOWEVER THE DEALER WOULD NOT WARRANTY REPLACEMENT. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES FOR THEM TO INSTALL TWO NEW STRUTS FOR $362.00. THE 2004-2006 RECALL IS LISTED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 08V244000. THIS IS THE EXACT ISSUE I EXPERIENCED. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY @ 85MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PROMPTLY, I PULLED THE TOYOTA MANUAL WHICH SAID COULD BE FAULTY GAS CAP AND MAY GO OFF WITH CONSECUTIVE DRIVES ONCE FIXED OR IF IT STAYS ON AFTER TO GO TO DEALER. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE SO I HEADED TO MY EXIT TO PULL OVER. SHORTLY, THEREAFTER A HORRIBLE DIESEL ENGINE GRINDING NOISE. I HAD JUST HAD MY TIRES ROTATED (REPLACED JUST ONE MONTH PRIOR) THAT WEEKEND AND THE OIL CHANGED THE WEEKEND BEFORE. AS I WAS ABOUT TO PULL OVER THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT FLASHED. WHEN I PULLED OVER I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED THE OIL STICK DRY WE HAD BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND ABOUT THE PART BY MOSSY NISSAN THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER AND WAS PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO TOYOTA OF POWAY AND FOR $500+ TO INSPECT AND REPLACE THIS HOSE(NOT PART OF RECALL) WANTED ANOTHER $3000 TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE AND THE ADDL CHARGES TO FIX I HAVE RELIGIOUSLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD MY TOYOTA CERTIFIED MECHANIC WORK ON MY CAR. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CONSUMER SERVICE FOR ASSISTANCE IN FIXING THE PROBLEMS THEY INDICATED THEY WOULD NOT HELP SINCE THE HOSES WERE NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE HOSES ARE 2 RUBBER HOSES THAT HAVE CLAMPS LEADING TO A TRIANGULAR METAL PIECE. THE HOLE WAS NOT IN A LOCATION THAT SOMETHING COULD HAVE PIERCED ACCORDING TO MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TRIED TO GET THE PART FROM THE FIRST DEALER....WHICH LEADS TO THE FACT THAT THESE ARE FAULTY HOSES THAT DETERIORATED. TOYOTA HAS OFFERED A GOODWILL PAYMENT OF $750 TOWARDS A NEW OR USED CERTIFIED TOYOTA CAR. BUT THAT IS AT A 20% INTEREST RATE. IT IS MY HOPE THAT OTHERS WILL SEE THIS AND GET THIS FIXED BEFORE THEY END UP LIKE ME SINGLE MOM OF 4 WITHOUT A CAR WORKING 5 DAYS A WEEK 150 MILES FROM MY BABIES AND CAN'T EVEN GO HOME TO SEE THEM TILL THE WEEKEND. 4 YR CHILD WAS ABLE TO SHIFT VAN INTO DRIVE WITHOUT IGNITITON KEY IN STARTER. WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE EVENT 30 MIN LATER AT HOME ONCE. WILL TAKE VAN IN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. *TR

THE CONTACT EXAMINED THE DOOR AND NOTICED THAT THE DOOR'S BRACKET WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,150.
JUNE 12, 2012, ODOMETER 45,000 MILES, 2 HOURS FROM HOME, DRIVERS SIDE MANUAL DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AND LATCH SHUT. CALLED NASHUA, NH TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, TOLD LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH DOORS, NEED TO MAKE APPOINTMENT, AVERAGE REPAIR OVER $1,000. TOOK TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC AND PROBLEM TEMPORARILY FIXED FOR $244.80(LATCH ASSY SEIZED UP. REMOVE, LUBE, REINSTALL. IF REPAIR DOESN'T LAST, NEW PART NEEDED. COST FOR PART ONLY, $570.23, PLUS LABOR). JULY 2013, ODOMETER 65,000 MILES, SAME DOOR NOT LATCHING AGAIN, DOOR SLIDES OPEN DURING ACCELERATION. CALLED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN NASHUA, NH, TOLD DOOR NOT COVERED UNDER "LATCH ASSEMBLY EXTENDED WARRANTY" BECAUSE DOOR IS MANUAL. HAVE MADE APPOINTMENT WITH MY REGULAR MECHANIC AGAIN TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE HAS 2 SLIDING DOORS, DRIVERS SIDE IS MANUAL, PASSENGER SIDE IS AUTOMATIC. HOWEVER, THE MANUAL DOOR HAS A MOTOR AND LATCH ASSEMBLY TO PULL THE DOOR IN AND LATCH IT AFTER IT'S BEEN SLID CLOSED. THIS FUNCTION IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I RECEIVED FROM TOYOTA IN JULY 2012 STATES " THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION IS FOR YOUR REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES FOR A PERIOD OF 9 YEARS FROM THE VEHICLES DATE OF FIRST USE OR 120,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST". THERE IS NO MENTION THE DOOR MUST BE AN AUTOMATIC DOOR. I BELIEVE TOYOTA IS TRYING TO LIMIT HOW MANY WARRANTY FIXES THEY DO BY GIVING CUSTOMERS INCORRECT INFORMATION. I'M ALSO BEGINNING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR NOT CLOSING. HOWEVER I CAN ONLY AFFORD THE TIME AND MONEY FOR ONE FIX AT A TIME. THERE ARE HUGE SAFETY ISSUES HERE AND TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. *TR
FRONT SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR TURNS ON, THEN, IT SOMETIME OFF, SOMETIME ON. IT CONTINUES LIKE THIS WAY AGAIN AND AGIN TO TODAY. HAVE IT CHECKED AT TOYOTA DEALER. THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON. SUGGETS REPLACE THE AIRBAG.

THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A REOPT BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
MY INCIDENT IS A RECURRING NIGHTMARE. DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR IS NOT LATCHING PROPERLY. WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 50MPH THE DOOR, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, FLEW OPEN AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY ARM BEHIND ME HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED UNTIL I GOT HOME. IT TOOK MY HUSBAND 2 HOURS TO FINALLY GET THE DOOR CLOSED. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THAT WAS FIXED TO A TUNE OF $3000.00. WHEN I SPOKE TO TOYOTA THEY APOLOGIZED, AND ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THE MATTER. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BY THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2007 LIMITED IT FAIL ITS HATCH DOOR CLOSES ITS OWN AND IT HIT MY HEAD I'M AFRAID THAT BY ACCIDENT MY KIDS MIGHT DO THE SAME, WHEN THEY OPEN THE HATCH DOOR. I READ ABOUT 2004-2006 RECALL AND HAD TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN MARCH 14,2007 MODEL 04-07 THIS REGARDS THE LIFT GATE NOT PROPERLY WORKING. ON THE 04-06 RECALL WHY NOT THE 07 RECALL NOT INCLUDED. WHILE I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME PARTS THAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON WHEN ALL TIRE PRESSURES ACTUALLY ARE NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T RESOLVE ISSUE. THEN I WENT TO THE WEBSITE AND FOUND OUT NHTSA HAS OPENED A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION REGARDING 2004 AND 2005 SIENNA TIRE PRESSURE AND REGLULATING SYSTEM. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT IS ON EVEN IF THE PRESSURE IS OK. IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE IT FUNCTION CORRECTLY FOR A VEHICLE WITH A RFT TIRE. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY. OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE. *JS
FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT IN 2007 SIENNA WITH ~90K MILES. DEALER STATES FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR FAILURE - $700 TO REPLACE. NOT UNDER WARRANTY; ERROR CODE B0111. MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOUND ON THE INTERNET FOR 06/07 SIENNAS. OPTED NOT TO REPLACE SENSOR DUE TO CONCERNS ABOUT IT FAILING AGAIN. CANNOT BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ITS AIRBAGS MORE THAN THE BASIC WARRANTY. HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS VEHICLES (94 ACURA FOR 7 YRS; 96 MAZDA FOR 7 YRS; 01 BMW FOR 8 YRS; 03 ACURA FOR 9 YRS) WITH NO AIRBAG PROBLEMS EVER. NO ONE IN MY OR MY WIFE'S FAMILY HAS EVER HAD AN AIRBAG PROBLEM SIMILAR TO THIS. *TR
FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT IN 2007 SIENNA WITH ~49K MILES. DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACE FLOOR WIRE AND AIR BAG ASSEMBLY - $3500 TOTAL. NOT UNDER WARRANTY; ERROR CODE B0116. MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOUND ON THE INTERNET FOR 06/07 SIENNAS. CANNOT BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ITS AIRBAGS MORE THAN THE BASIC WARRANTY WHEN SAFELY EQUIPMENT FAILED LESS THAN 50K MILES. THE REPAIR COST IS TOO HIGH WHICH IS A RESULT OF BAD DESIGN. SAFETY EQUIPMENT FAILURE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BY MANUFACTURE, ESPECIALLY THE MILEAGE IS LESS THAN 50K. HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS VEHICLES WITH NO AIRBAG PROBLEMS EVER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT AIR BAG AND WIRING HARNESS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
MY VEHICLE'S SAFETY RESTRAINT ( AIRBAG) LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS. THEY TOLD ME THE ENTIRE RESTRAINT SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REWIRED AT A COST OF $4000.00. WITHOUT IT, I HAVE NO AIRBAGS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM, NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CAR OWNER. *TR
FAULTY REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS. IN 50 DEGREE WEATHER, STRUTS FAIL AND DOOR DROPS AND AUTOMATICALLY CONTINUES TO CLOSE. PROBLEM IS ONGOING. NO INJURY. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILED, WOULD NOT CLOSE (DOOR CONTINUALLY RE-OPENED ITSELF INSTEAD OF LATCHING CLOSED). AFTER SETTING THE DOORS TO "MANUAL," THE SAME DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL. WITH TWO INFANTS, IT BECAME NECESSARY TO CRAWL OVER THE INFANT SEAT INSTALLED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR CAPTAIN'S CHAIR IN ORDER TO REACH THE INFANT SEAT INSTALLED BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR IS CLOSE TO FAILURE (THE SHEATHING ON THE CABLE IS FRAYED), WHICH WILL MEAN NEITHER OF THE REAR DOORS WILL BE FUNCTIONAL. VERY UNSAFE CONDITION IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR FIRE. TOYOTA WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, AND QUOTES A PRICE OF $3400 TO REPAIR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR DISABLED THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE REAR HATCH WAS OPENED WHEN IT ABRUPTLY BEGAN TO CLOSE INDEPENDENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

I HAVE HAD THIS VAN SINCE NEW. AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING AFTER 4 YEARS WITH LESS THAN 60000 MILES. FIRST TRANSMISSION PROBLEM STARTED AT 68000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FIRST REARED ITS UGLY HEAD WHEN I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT ONE EARLY MORNING IN NOVEMBER 2011. IT SOUNDED AS THOUGH I HAD RUN OVER SOMETHING. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VAN AND LOOKING AROUND IT APPEARED AS THOUGH EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD. I GOT BACK IN THE VAN AND STARTED TO DRIVE AND COULD HEAR A RUBBING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VAN AND NOTICED IT WOULD SLOW DOWN QUICKER WHEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR, SO MUCH SO THAT YOUR BODY WOULD LEAN FORWARD. ALSO, I NOTICED THE VAN WOULD NOW SLOW DOWN INSTEAD OF PICKING UP SPEED WHEN COASTING DOWN A HILL WHICH IS SOMETHING IT HAD NEVER DONE BEFORE. I BROUGHT THE VAN INTO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT WEEK TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY SAID THAT WAS THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO RUN. I TOLD THEM 68 000 MILES OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE SINCE IT WAS NEW HAS TOLD ME OTHERWISE. THEY PERSISTED WITH THEIR "EVERYTHING WAS AS IT SHOULD BE" STORY AND THAT IT COULD BE THE BRAKES STICKING OCCASIONALLY. I EVEN TOLD THEM THAT THE RUBBING SOUND GOES AWAY WHEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHICH WOULD ELIMINATE THE BRAKES AS THE CAUSE. THE VANS TRANSMISSION FINALLY FAILED IN FEBRUARY OF 2013 AT 82 000 MILES AFTER I HAD BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP 4 TIMES WITH MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHILE GETTING OTHER SERVICE COMPLETED, AND YES THEY DID CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BEFORE ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. THE TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSIS AND SUBSEQUENT REPAIR/REBUILD QUOTED BY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WAS $4000. MR. TRANSMISSION CHARGED ME $3100. SUBMITTED RECEIPTS FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE SIENNA DOOR LATCH AND CABLE ASSY WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT 11/27/12. 12/26/12 RECEIVED LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATING THAT THE REPAIR DOES NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR REIMBURSEMENT. 1/4/2013 CALLED 1-800-331-4331 TO ASK WHY IT IS NOT COVERED. AFTER BEING ON HOLD FOR 30 MINUTES, GENTLEMAN SAYS THE CABLE AND MOTOR ARE NOT COVERED FOR OUR VIN#. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IF THE DOOR LATCH HAD BROKEN. I ASKED IF HE COULD SEND ME ANYTHING IN WRITING AS TO REASON FOR NOT BEING COVERED AND HE SAID NO. I DO NOT THINK TOYOTA IS TREATING ITS CUSTOMERS FAIRLY. I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA MINI-VAN. THE LIFTGATE IS OPENED BY DEPRESSING A RUBBER COVERED BUTTON. THE RUBBER HAS MELTED TO A POINT THAT IT IS MOLTEN. EACH TIME YOU TOUCH THE LATCH YOUR FINGERS ARE TURNED BLACK AND IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. I LIVE IN TEXAS AND WE ARE EXPERIENCING VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES. MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND WENT TO HIT THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. SHE SAID THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO HIT THE BRAKES AGAIN AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND. A PASSED INSPECTION IS ALL THEY NEEDED TO WASH THEIR HANDS OF THE SITUATION. I SOLD THE CAR TO A LOCAL DEALER. I WISH THERE WAS A SAFER ALTERNATIVE. STATED THAT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE CLEANED; CHARGE WAS ROUGHLY $100 AS THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE 60,000/5 YR WARRANTY. ON 05/29/2012 CAR WAS SERVICED AGAIN FOR BLINKING AIR BAG LIGHT; HOWEVER, SERVICE DEPT. STATED THAT THE LIGHT WAS NOT BLINKING AT THE TIME THE CAR WAS SERVICED, SO THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE ASSESSED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME AND WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE WIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,100. FUNNY HOW THE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NEVER BE ASSESSED, AND NOW IT COSTS $1,100 TO FIX. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE ARE NOT HAVING IT FIXED AND WE PRAY FOR NO ACCIDENTS--PRETTY SCARY. POWER REAR HATCH WILL OPEN NORMALLY, BUT WILL RELEASE WHEN IT REACHES THE TOP OF IT'S TRAVEL, ALLOWING THE UNIT TO COME CRASHING DOWN ONTO THE UNSUSPECTING OWNER WHILE THEY ARE TRYING TO RETRIEVE ITEMS FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THE RUBBER PAD UNDER THE SWITCH THAT IS USED TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE ON THE BACK OF THE SIENNA HAS GONE SOFT AND TAR LIKE. IF I GRAB A PIECE IT PULLS RIGHT OFF LIKE CHEWING GUM. THE BLACK STAR LIKE SUBSTANCE GETS ON THE HANDS/FINGERS TOO AND IS HARD TO WASH OFF. THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT (NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR). TOYOTA WON'T RECALL AND MAKE IT A WARRANTY FIX. MY COMPLAINT INVOLVES THE TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN (MINE IS A 2007). I BELIEVE TOYOTA IS AWARE OF A DEFECT IN THE REAR AC LINES WHICH CAUSES THEM TO PREMATURELY CORRODE NEAR THE REAR AXLE. THIS CAUSES A RELEASE OF THE REFRIGERANT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE AND MANDATES THE LINES BE REPLACED BY THE OWNER AT A COST OF APP. $1200. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2007 AND HAS 45K MILES- NO ACCIDENTS, ALWAYS PROPERLY MAINTAINED. THIS VAN WAS RECENTLY RECALLED FOR EXCESS CORROSION IN THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER WHICH CAUSES THE SPARE TIRE TO FALL OUT.
