MY STEREO CHANGES STATIONS ON ITS OWN I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S IN THE BUTTONS IN THE STEERING WHEEL OR THE ACTUAL STEREO ITSELF.
2ND TIME A GAS PEDAL STUCK ON MY 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK LEADING TO A 2ND COLLISION WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK & THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT WITH PLENTY OF ROOM TO STOP ON A FLAT RD. THERE WHERE SKID MARKS FROM MY TRUCK AND I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE INCREASED INSPEED. THE DEALER STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM EVEN AFTER MY FIRST ACCIDENT IN JUNE OF LAST YEAR AND AGAIN IN JULY OF THIS YEAR. TOYOTA SAID THEY WOULD TURN IT OVER TO THERE LEGAL DEPT. AND THE TRUCK WAS TO BE INSPECTED BY A ENGINEERING FIRM FROM THE WEST. THE INSPECTION FIRM WAS IN A HURRY TO INSPECT THE TRUCK AND CALLED IN JULY NOW THEY WON'T RETURN MY CALLS. THIS FIRM WAS HIRED BY TOYOTA. ALSO DURING THE REPAIR IT WAS FOUND THAT THE AIR BAG HAD SHORTED OUT AND DID NOT DEPLOY. IF YOU HAVE ONE OF TOYOTA'S TRUCKS ON THE RECALL LIST BE VERY CAREFUL AND DON'T EXPECT ANY HELP FROM THE DEALER OR TOYOTA FIXING THE PROBLEM. AS I SAID IT IS THE 2ND TIME FOR BOTH ITEMS TO FAIL. *TR
2005 TOYOTA TACOMA LUNGES OR SURGES WHILE HOLDING THE BRAKE AT LIGHT. IF I DON'T HOLD THE BRAKE FIRM IT COULD REAR END VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. DEALER SAYS ITS NORMAL. AND CHARGED ME TO INSPECT. AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A PART IN THE AIRBAG AND WANTED 612.00 TO REPLACE STATING THAT IT MAY GO OFF WHILE DRIVING.CAUSING A CRASH .SHOULDN'T A PART THIS CRITICAL BE COVERED FOR LIFE OF TRUCK? *TR
I NOTICED A RUBBING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF MY VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION OF MY LOCAL MECHANIC HE DETERMINED THE CAUSE. THE LEFT (DRIVER SIDE) MOTOR MOUNT CRACK AT THE FRAME. ESSENTIALLY THE FRAME CRACKED WHERE THE MOTOR MOUNT IS WELDED AND STARTED TO COLLAPSE INTO THE FRAME. THE DEALERSHIP IS IN THE PROCESS OF INSPECTING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THIS REPORT. *TR
SHORT IN THE BUTTON TO TURN THE CRUSE CONTROL ON SOMETIMES IT WORKS BUT I HAVE TO PUSH IT AT LEAST 200 TIMES. THE SECOND THING IS A SHORT IN THE OVER HEAD COMPAS/TEMPERATURE GAUGE IT JUST DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE.
10/27/05, 12/05 & 5/25/10 LITTLE OR NO ACCELERATION. 10/23/09 STEPPED ON BRAKE BUT IT ACCELERATED INSTEAD OF STOPPING & ALMOST GOT KILLED. 11/18/09, 12/16/09 & 1/16/09 THROTTLE STICKS & ENGINE RACES KEPT FOOT ON BRAKE & IMMEDIATELY THREW IT INTO NEUTRAL SO IT WOULDN'T TAKE OFF AGAIN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 94,000.
2005 PRERUNNER SR5 HAD GRINDING SOUND FROM RIGHT FRONT AT ABOUT 40MPH WHEN TURNING LEFT. NO SOUND WHEN TURNING RIGHT. DEALER CHECKED AND DETERMINED LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS BAD. REPLACED LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING ($516.32). WHEN LEAVING DEALER LOT AFTER PICKING UP THE TRUCK I NOTICED THE SOUND STILL CAME FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL . BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER WHO CHECKED AGAIN AND DETERMINED RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS BAD. ALSO SAID LEFT REAR MAY BE GOING BAD. COST TO REPLACE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING $337.01 (DEALER DIDN'T CHARGE LABOR THIS TIME). ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER BEARINGS REPLACED THE GRINDING SOUND HAS RETURNED. VEHICLE NOW HAS ABOUT 107K MILES. RELUCTANT TO RETURN TO DEALER AND PAY ANOTHER $800-$1000 TO REPAIR WHEEL BEARINGS THAT APPEAR TO BE EITHER POOR QUALITY OR INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. DEALER CLAIMS REPLACING WHEEL BEARINGS AT 80K MILES IS NOT ABNORMAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS COLLAPSED INTO THE FRAME WHILE HE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE ENGINE WAS DROPPED INTO THE RADIATOR SHROUD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE HE WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE FRAMED WAS WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
AS THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN THE PARKING SPOT IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE AS POSSIBLE BUT IT CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. I PROCEEDED 8 TO 10 FEET BETWEEN A PINE TREE AND SATELLITE DISH AND ADDITIONAL 25 FEET BEFORE THE ACCELERATION STOPPED. I BELIEVE IN THE COURSE OF THE SITUATION I SLIGHTLY MOVED MY FOOT TO EXERT MORE PRESSURE WHICH IN TURN DISENGAGED THE MALFUNCTION. DEEP RUTS WERE VISIBLE AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. *TR
MOTOR SUPPORT ON FRAME TORE OFF WHILE RUNNING AT 30MPH. TOYOTA DEALER IN P R EXAMINED THE AREA AND DETERMINED THAT THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED DUE TO HEAVY CORROSION. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRUCK SHALL NOT BE DRIVEN FOR SAFETY REASONS. TOYOTA DENIED TO REPAIR THE TRUCK . THAT IS NOT FAIR. I COULD HAVE INJURED MYSELF OR SOMEBODY ELSE'S. WHAT YOU GUYS ARE WAITING FOR TO TAKE CARE OF SO MANY COMPLAINTS, FATALITIES GOOD DECISION. HOPE IS NOT SOME OF YOUR LOVE ONES. *TR
TL *THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN . HE HAD TO MANUALLY PULL THE STEERING WHEEL BACK IN POSITION WHEN MAKING TURNS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST BUT NOW IT WAS MORE FREQUENT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
2005 TOYOTA TACOMA TAILGATE IS DANGEROUSLY WEAK, AND IS UNABLE TO SUPPORT WHAT MOST CONSIDER NORMAL WEIGHT FOR A TRUCK TAILGATE. ALTHOUGH SUBSTANDARD DESIGN MAY BE CONSIDERED "BUYER BEWARE", TRUCK BUYERS EXPECT A TAILGATE TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF NORMAL TRUCK USE ACTIVITIES. TOYOTA PROVIDES NO WARNING OR CAUTION ANYWHERE THAT THE TAILGATE IS OF INSUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO PERFORM NORMAL 1/2-TON TRUCK DUTIES, AND TYPICALLY (PER INTERNET FORUM THREADS) TELLS THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT IT IS THEIR PROBLEM AND THAT THEY SHOULD NOT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY USE THE TAILGATE FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN HIDING THE INSIDE OF THE BED. SINCE TOYOTA HAS PRODUCED A SUBSTANDARD DESIGNED PART, THEY SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED A VISUAL WARNING ON THE PART TO ALERT CUSTOMERS TO THE DANGER THEIR PRODUCT IMPOSES IF USED IN A TRADITIONAL MANNER. SINCE THEY DID NOT DO SO, THEY SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE TO PROVIDE A REDESIGNED PART TO THEIR CUSTOMERS OR FULL RESTITUTION FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE VEHICLES. MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A "CERTIFIED USED" 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA LAST YEAR. AUTO 4X4 EXT CAB TRD WITH 42K... GREAT TRUCK BUT WE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT I'VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT. AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, SEVERAL SECONDS LATER IT WANTS TO LUNGE FORWARD. NOT EVERY TIME BUT PROBABLY 1 OUT OF 5 STOPS. AS ONE OWNER PUT IT, IT FEELS AS THOUGH AS SOMEONE IS TRYING TO PUSH YOU WITH THEIR CAR. NO, ITS NOT THE FLOOR MATS OR ONE FOOT ON BOTH PEDALS. SO FAR IT HASN'T JUMPED FORWARD AND HIT ANYONE BUT I HAVE READ THAT IT'S HAPPENED.. PLAN ON TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALER SO THEY CAN GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND... *TR
THE THIRD OF THREE INCIDENCES OCCURRED ON 3-10-10 WHILE TRAVERSING A PARKING LOT WHICH, AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, I THOUGHT SLOPED DOWN INTO A LOWER PARKING LOT. AT THE EDGE OF THE UPPER PARKING LOT IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THERE WAS A TWO TO THREE FOOT VERTICAL DROP INTO THE LOWER LOT. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND CONTINUED OVER THE EDGE. UPON IMPACT WITH THE LOWER LOT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND, AFTER SWERVING TO AVOID A PARKED VEHICLE, BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. THIS RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE MAKING IMPACT WITH A BUILDING ON THE EDGE OF THE PARKING LOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE PLACING THE VEHICLE IN THE PARK POSITION, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A WALL CAUSING MODERATE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AWAY FROM THE SCENE AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT BE CONTACTED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY REFUSED ASSISTANCE SINCE A CLAIM WAS NOT FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS SKEPTICAL ABOUT THIS BRAKE OVERRIDE UNTIL THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME ON 3/5/2010. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING 50 MPH IN MODERATE TRAFFIC WHEN A CONSTRUCTION TRUCK DECIDED TO TURN INTO MY LANE. I GAVE IT A QUICK PUNCH TO AVOID A COLLISION WHEN I FELT MY RPM'S KEPT CLIMBING AS I WAS NO LONGER ON THE PEDAL. I PANICKED AND TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO NO RESPONSE, SO I TAPPED THE SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL. AT THIS POINT MY CAR IS STILL ACCELERATING IN REDLINE. FINALLY, THE CAR SNAPS OUT OF IT AND I HAVE CONTROL AGAIN. I SLOW DOWN, SHIFT BACK INTO D AND CONTINUE MY COMMUTE TO SCHOOL. IN THE PAST, I HAVE NOTICED A FEW TIMES THERE HAVE BEEN A SLIGHT LUNGE IN ACCELERATION JUST AFTER THE TRANSMISSION SWITCHES GEARS. I LOVE MY TACOMA. I HAVE BEEN IN DENIAL AND HAVE BEEN HOPING, WISHING THAT THERE ISN'T A PROBLEM. BUT FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS, I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE THIS PROBLEM IS NOTED BEFORE ANYONE ONE GETS HURT. I WOULD HATE FOR ANYTHING SERIOUS TO HAPPEN AND LEAVE PEOPLE WONDERING. I FEEL THE NEED TO REPORT THIS COMPLAINT. COULD THIS BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A STUCK THROTTLE BODY? I HOPE THE RESOLUTION TO THIS WILL BE SIMPLE AND REWARDING, I WOULD HATE TO GIVE UP THIS TRUCK. BRAKING IS TOO SLOW. WHEN STOPPING UNDER DRY CONDITIONS THIS VEHICLE TAKES TOO LONG TO STOP. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. DEALER STATED THAT WAS 'NORMAL' FOR ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEMS. DEALER WOULD NOT TAKE ANY ACTION. TO IMPROVE BRAKING ABS BRAKES WERE DISABLED BY REMOVING FUSE. EVEN WITH THIS BRAKING TO A STOP TAKES LONGER THAN WITH OTHER VEHICLES UNDER SAME CONDITIONS. THIS PROBLEM IS ON-GOING AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL REAR-END COLLISIONS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR MY 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA ON THE FREEWAY IN LIGHT RAIN. THE STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND MY TRUCK BEGAN FISHTAILING. I TAPPED ON THE BRAKES LIGHTLY BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUED ACCELERATING FASTER. I ENDED UP HITTING THE CONCRETE BARRIER AND WAS PLACED IN THE AMBULANCE. I NOW SUFFER FROM LOWER BACK AND POSSIBLE TORN LIGAMENTS IN THE NECK. BEFORE THE ACCIDENT THERE HAS BEEN A COUPLE OF INCIDENT WHERE THE STEERING VEERS OF FOR NO REASON AND SOMETIMES THE STEERING SHAKES WHEN I DRIVE. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA WHEN SUDDENLY HE HEARD AND FELT A SUDDEN LOUD NOISE LIKE A GUN SHOT. HE LOST ALL POWER IN HIS TRUCK. HE WAS ABLE TO GET HIS TRUCK OFF THE INTERSTATE. HE DISCOVERED HIS DRIVE SHAFT HAD FALLEN OUT! IT IS A MIRACLE HE WAS NOT KILLED! IT IS ONLY BY GOD'S GRACE THAT WHEN THE FRONT U-BOLT BROKE, THE DRIVE SHAFT BROKE INTO TWO PIECES. THE REAR PIECE CAUGHT ON THE REAR AXLE. WE ARE PLEASED HE WAS NOT HURT, BUT IS THIS SAME PROBLEM TOYOTA HAS WITH ITS 2010 TOYOTA TACOMA? ON FEBRUARY 22 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 A.M. PST, I NOTICED MY AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON AND STAY ON. I CALLED THE DEALER IN SANTEE CA., AND ASKED WHAT THIS WAS BEING THE MANUAL IN MY TRUCK SAID TO "CONTACT DEALER IMMEDIATELY". I WAS INFORMED THAT IT MEANT THAT THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF I WAS TO BE IN A WRECK. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN ON THE 23RDBEFORE WORK ABOUT 5:15 A.M. PST. LATER ABOUT 8:00 A.M., I GOT A CALL SAYING THE WIRE HARNESS HAD A SHORT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE I CAN GET IT BACK DUE TO IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP WITH MY SPOUSE, WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS BY NO FAULT BY US , BUT THEY HAVE CHANGED HUNDREDS DUE TO A SHORT IN THE HARNESS ITSELF WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE STEERING COLUMN. THE PART WAS REPLACED BY SAID DEALER, BUT THE OLD PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO ME. *TR
I OWN A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN WHEN I ATTEMPT TO PROCEED FROM A STOP. THIS OCCURS WHILE I AM IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE MAY OR MAY NOT START FOR SOME TIME AFTER THAT. IF IT DOES START, IT WILL IDLE OK BUT WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL IT SHUTS DOWN. AFTER CONTINUALLY STARTING FOR A FEW TIMES IT MAY RUN OK FOR A WHILE. I HAD IT SERVICED AT A DEALER THE FIRST TIME AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS BUT THEN BEGAN DOING IT AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 6 OR 7 TIMES NOW. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR FAN SPEED SELECTOR SWITCH ILLUMINATION HAS QUIT WORKING AND ALSO THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DISPLAY ON THE FRONT PASSENGER ROOF HAS QUIT WORKING. *TR
I WAS IN A PARKING LOT W/ MY 05 TACOMA AND NEEDED TO PERFORM A K TURN. I STOPPED, PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE, AND IT FELT LIKE IT WENT FULL THROTTLE FOR ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKE IMMEDIATELY AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE HITTING ANY OF THE PARKED CARS. THE SAME EVENT OCCURRED MOMENTS LATER WHEN I HAD TO BACK OUT OF SOME HEAVY SNOW IN THE SAME PARKING LOT. I HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT FLOOR MATS LAST YEAR AND HAVEN'T HAD THEM IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE SINCE LAST OCTOBER. IT ALSO DID NOT SEEM TO BE A PEDAL ISSUE. THE THROTTLE SEEMED TO OPEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE. *TR
DRIVING A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA NO VISIBLE ADVERSE WEATHER, COLD/ TRUCK SLID SIDEWAYS, ACCELERATED EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE ROLLED THREE TIMES. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO IDLE UP EVEN AFTER IT WAS ON ITS SIDE . CONTACTED TOYOTA, GIVEN AN INCIDENT REFERENCE NUMBER, NO RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA. *TR
MY INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA ON JANUARY 26TH 2010. I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WHERE I HAD A RED STOP LIGHT AND SLOWED THE TRUCK TO AN ALMOST STOP. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WAS NEARLY TO THE FLOOR BUT NOT ALL THE WAY YET. THEN VERY SUDDENLY THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD AT WHICH POINT I JAMMED MY FOOT DOWN HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THEN THE TRUCK SORT OF JUMPED THREE TIMES DURING WHICH I HAD MY FOOT COMPLETELY PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUMPING BY ITSELF. THANKFULLY THE TRUCK STOPPED ABOUT ONE FOOT FROM THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET AROUND ME. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. HE STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR MAT WAS SECURED BY TWO 1.5 INCH HOOKS. THE HOOKS WERE ABLE TO SPIN AROUND COMPLETELY OVER A 3-INCH RADIUS, CATCHING ONLY IN ONE DIRECTION TO PREVENT THE FLOOR MAT FROM MOVING. WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT'S FOOT WOULD GRIP THE FLOOR MAT AND DUE TO THE MOVEMENT IN THE HOOKS, THE FLOOR MATS WOULD MOVE FORWARD BECOMING STUCK UNDER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. HE HAD THIS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION INCIDENTS DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE FLOOR MATS. THE DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE ALTHOUGH THEY DID STATE THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FREQUENCY OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLOOR MAT DUAL HOOKS WERE POORLY DESIGNED AND WAS CONCERNED WITH POSSIBLE PEDAL ENTRAPMENT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000.

ON THE DAY OF DECEMBER 10, 2009 I WAS ARRIVING HOME FROM WORK AS I ALWAYS DO. I WAS PREPARING TO PARK MY 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE AS I ALWAYS DO. AS I BEGAN TO BACK UP THE ENGINE ROARED CAUSING THE TRUCK TO PLUNGE BACKWARD INTO THE GARAGE DOOR AND HOUSE. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE EVEN WHILE HAVING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME WAS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. AS I STOPPED AT THE LIGHT, WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENGINE ROARED AND THE TIRES SCREECHED CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ACCELERATE . FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL ALLOWING ME TO AVOID SLAMMING INTO THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME I WAS TAKING MY WIFE TO HER ONCOLOGIST APPOINTMENT FOR A CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT. AS I APPROACHED THE TURNPIKE BOOTH TO GET MY TICKET THE ENGINE AGAIN ROARED AND PLUNGED FORWARD AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY TICKET. THANK GOD THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF US. ENGINE MOTOR MOUNT TO FRAME SUPPORT BRACKET WAS WELDED USING TOO HIGH OF A CURRENT SETTING ON ROBOT WELDER AND WELD IS UNDERCUT INTO BASE METAL ON FRAME. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CRACK OR RUST THROUGH OVER TIME AND CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO BREAK LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. ON 2005 AND 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA'S . I HAVE A TOYOTA TACOMA 2005. ON DECEMBER 6, 2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 3PM I WAS HEADING SOUTH ON I-190 IN NIAGARA FALLS NY. CRUISE WAS ON,BUT HAD TO TAP BREAKS BECAUSE OF SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE. ON 12/9/2010, I CALLED THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGE POPPING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE ON 6/28/2005 AND ACKNOWLEDGE REAR SUSPENSION SQUEAKING NOISES ON 8/13/2009, BUT THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE TRUCK HAS TO BE UNDER 3 YEARS OLD OR 36,000 MILES TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS MANUFACTURE DEFECTS, TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM, THEY DID NOT NOTIFIED THE OWNER WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD. *TR

FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD, TOYOTA HAD A RECALL OF FRAMES DUE TO RUSTING BUT THAT WAS UP TO THE 2004 MODELS. THEIR REMEDY FOR 2004 AND PRIOR MODELS WAS A CHANGE IN FRAME DESIGN STARTING IN 2005. NOR WAS THAT FACT DIVULGED DURING THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. I LOVE DRIVING THE TRUCK BUT HAVE BECOME VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE BRAND. WE PURCHASED A 2005 TACOMA PICK-UP IN 2005. MY HUSBAND HAS HAD TWO EXPERIENCES WITH THE PICK-UP ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN, AT FULL THROTTLE, WITHOUT HIS FOOT ON THE THROTTLE AT ALL. IN JUNE OF 2009, THE TRUCK ACCELERATED TO FULL THROTTLE, WHILE IN REVERSE, GOING MAYBE 5MPH . HE HAD HIS FEET ON THE BRAKE AND THE TIRES WERE SMOKING. LUCKILY, HE WAS ABLE TO STOP IT. WE NOW HAVE A 2008 TACOMA PICKUP AND A 2009 COROLLA CAR IN OUR POSSESSION. WE'RE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON. WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOU LOOKING AT THE TACOMA PICK-UP FOR MORE THAN THE FLOOR MAT RECALL. WE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO OUR FAMILY AND WE WANT THE PROBLEM SOLVED.
