TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED SEVERELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED PER A RECALL IN WHICH THE FRAME WAS SPRAYCOATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WERE UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA. PER A TOYOTA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERE CORROSION. 01/22/15 TOYOTA DEALER APPLIED CORROSION-RESISTANT COMPOUND (CRC), TO FRAME OF 2006 TACOMA (MILEAGE 113835), A RECALL SERVICE. MARCH 2016, I DISCOVERED CRC PEELING/FLAKING OFF MANY PLACES ON THE FRAME. IT APPEARED CRC HAD BEEN APPLIED OVER RUST. 4/12/16 WE ASKED DEALER TO INSPECT CRC DURING UPCOMING RECALL SERVICE FOR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLIES. THESE WERE REPLACED 06/23/16 (MILEAGE 138878). INVOICE READS, 'PLEASE NOTE: CRC ON FRAME IS PEELING OFF'. DEALER ADVISED CALLING TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER. 06/24/16 TOYOTA CREATED CASE COMPLAINT #1606240431. THEY NOTIFIED US 6/27/16 THAT THE CRC CAMPAIGN HAD ENDED AND THERE WAS NO REMEDY. 08/01/16, PROPRIETOR OF A LOCAL GARAGE, IN BUSINESS SINCE 1955, EVALUATED. HE WAS AWARE OF THE RECALL, HAD WORKED ON OTHER RECALLED TRUCKS AND SAID THIS WAS THE WORST HE HAD SEEN. HE THOUGHT CRC HAD BEEN APPLIED TO COVER UP RUST. HE RECOMMENDED SAND BLASTING AND RE-APPLYING RUST PROTECTANT SOON BEFORE RUST CAUSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. 08/11/16, OWNER OF A BODY SHOP EVALUATED AND SAID IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE RUST. HE WAS SURPRISED THE DEALER HAD NOT REPLACED THE FRAME, SINCE HE WAS AWARE OF MANY FRAMES BEING REPLACED BY ANOTHER DEALER 40 MILES AWAY. BOTH PROFESSIONALS NOTED BUBBLING &/OR BUCKLING FRAME METAL DUE TO RUST AND SAID THIS WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. 8/31/16, I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER TO SHARE PROFESSIONAL OPINIONS. THE SUPERVISOR SAID TOYOTA WOULD DO NOTHING AND WOULD ASSUME NO LIABILITY FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE, INJURY OR DEATH IF THE RUSTED FRAME BREAKS AND CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. I SAID THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND REPEATEDLY ASKED TO SPEAK WITH HER MANAGER. SHE SAID SHE DID NOT HAVE A MANAGER AND SHE TERMINATED MY CALL. TOYOTA'S FAILED REMEDY LEAVES US WITH THE INITIAL RECALL PROBLEM AND SAFETY CONCERN.
MY TACOMA TRUCK WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER IN 2014, PER RECALL INSTRUCTIONS, FOR FRAME CORROSION ISSUE, THE DEALER ELECTED TO SPRAY THE FRAME. IN EARLY PART OF 2016 I BROUGHT TRUCK IN FOR LEAF SPRING RECALL. THE DEALER FOUND A HOLE IN THE FRAME, SENT PICTURES TO TOYOTA REQUESTING AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR FRAME BEFORE REPLACING LEAF SPRINGS, TOYOTA DENIED FRAME REPAIR REQUEST. BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE WITH FRAME THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE LEAF SPRINGS. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS TOYOTA'S POLICY THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS ON AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. WHEN I STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE BECAUSE THE FRAME ISSUE WAS NOT CORRECTED IN 2014 I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRAME RECALL WAS OVER AND THERE WAS NO RECOURSE. SO NOW I HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FRAME RECALL WAS NOT PROPERLY ADDRESSED IN 2014 AND TOYOTA WOULD NOT APPROVE REPLACEMENT OF LEAF SPRINGS IN2016.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A LIMITED MANUFACTURER'S EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAD EXPIRED. FRAME CORROSION. THE FRAME ON MY 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK IS VERY RUSTY. THE METAL IS JUST FLAKING OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE CAR WASH AND WHILE WASHING UNDERNEATH PARTS OF THE METAL JUST FLAKED OFF IN LARGE PIECES. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T HELP ME AND GAVE ME A CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER FOR TOYOTA CORPORATION. I CALLED THAT NUMBER AND WAS TOLD A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR CORROSION PROBLEMS ON MY TRUCK ENDED ON MARCH 31, 2016. THEY COULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH MY PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WASN'T A SAFETY RECALL. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. THE FRAMES ON THESE TRUCKS ARE DEFECTIVE. THEY ARE FRACTURING AND RENDERING THESE TRUCKS USELESS. MANY OF US CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE FRAMES AND IF WE SELL THIS PROBLEM IS SO WELL KNOWN WE CAN'T GET A FAIR PRICE FOR VEHICLES. MY TRUCK HAS 100600 MILES ON IT. I'VE TAKEN CARE OF THE TRUCK BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER. THE FRAME RUSTED ANYWAY. PLEASE HELP THOSE OF US THAT HAVE THESE VEHICLES. TOYOTA SHOULD RECOGNIZE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE JUST LIKE IT WAS BEFORE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT TOYOTA LEARNED HOW TO AVOID RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE DEFECTIVE FRAMES.

LETTER FROM SENATOR WICKER ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE REAR SPRING. HOWEVER, SHE HAS BEEN WITH DIFFICULTY IN GETTING THEM REPLACED. *JB
I RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME OF OF THIS TRUCK, ONLY 10 YEARS OLD, HAD SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. TOYOTA HAS INFORMED ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN A LIMITED SERVICE PERIOD FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT IT HAD EXPIRED. I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS AND DO NOT BELIEVE I WAS NOTIFIED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE WHICH MANY LIKE ME MAY NOT BE AWARE OF. IF THE FRAME WERE TO FAIL WHILE TRAVELLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT IS QUITE POSSIBLE PEOPLE COULD BE SEVERELY INJURED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION), THE VEHICLE SHOOK EXCESSIVELY WHEN DRIVING OVER 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
REAR LEAF SPRING RECALLS. BEEN TWO MONTHS WAITING FOR PARTS TO ARRIVE AT LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. ORDER WAS PLACED ON 7/13/16. WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA REP, THAT REP FROM LOCAL DEALER SAID IT WOULD TAKE A FEW MORE MONTHS FOR PARTS TO COME IN. FEELS UNSAFE DRIVING VEHICLE.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEALERSHIPS REFUSAL TO REPAIR VEHICLE FRAME CORROSION/HOLES SAFETY RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NO RECALL, BUT A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE LEAF SPRING BROKE AND WAS HELD WITH INTO PLACE WITH A WIRE. UPDATED 03/01/17.*JB
2006 TACOMA HAS MAJOR FRAME RUST. TOYOTA APPROVED RUSTPROOFING WAS APPLIED IN MAY 2015 BY THE ORIGINAL TOYOTA DEALER. ONE YEAR LATER, THE RUSTPROOFING IS FALLING OFF IN SHEETS, SHOWING THE SEPARATING LAYERS OF FRAME STEEL. I CONTACTED TOYOTA (CASE 1060290111) AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING TOYOTA WOULD DO. I HAD WANTED THE FRAME AND RUSTPROOFING TO BE INSPECTED BY TOYOTA. THEY WOULD DO NEITHER. THEY CALLED THE DEALER THAT APPLIED THE COATING AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THEM, FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY ARE 300 MILE AWAY. I ASKED IF A LOCAL DEALER COULD PERFORM THE TASK, BUT WAS TOLD TOYOTA WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE THAT. THE TRUCK HAS 165000 MILES AND IS OTHERWISE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. MY FEAR IS THAT THE FRAME WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD.
MY TRUCK GOT TWO RECALLS 1) DUE TO RUSTY FRAME 2) REAR LEAF SPRING AND TOYOTA REPLACED BOTH LAST MARCH 2015. THIS WAS DONE AT METRO TOYOTA IN BROOKPARK ROAD CLEVELAND OHIO. HOWEVER, THE STRAP THAT HOLD THE GASOLINE TANK WERE ALSO RUSTY BUT WAS NOT REPLACED. JUST THIS JUNE 29, 2016, I NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS HANGING UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK'S BED. ONE OF THE STRAP WAS BROKEN AND THE GASOLINE TANK WAS LOOSE AND ALREADY BOUNCING AND ABOUT TO FALL AS THE OTHER STRAP WAS ABOUT TO GIVE WAY TOO. I WAS JUST LUCKY THAT DAY AS I NOTICED IT BEFORE ANY SEVERE ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE ON THE ROAD. I JUST DON'T KNOW SINCE WHEN THE STRAP WAS BROKEN BUT NOTICED THE TRUCK REAR BECAME TOO BOUNCY WHILE ON MOTION. I THINK THE STRAP SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACE TOO WHEN TOYOTA REPLACE THE FRAME AND THE REAR LEAF SPRING. NOT REPLACING THE STRAP PUT MY LIFE WAS PLACED MORE IN DANGER AS ANYTIME IF THE TANK FALL OFF, IT WILL CAUSE FIRE AND MIGHT EVEN INVOLVE INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT ARE DRIVING NEXT TO ME. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE A PHOT OF THE BROKEN STRAP BUT I WENT STRAIGHT TO METRO TOYOTA FOR A WALK IN SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN AND CAN DRIVE MY CAR. I DON'T HAVE ANY CHOICE BUT TO GET IT FIXED BUT I WAS CHARGED WITH ALL THE COST. I GRATEFUL THAT NOTHING HAPPENED WITH THAT CONDITION BUT NOT HAPPY WITH THE RECALL PROCESS. I WAS TOLD THE STRAP WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. BUT TO ME THAT IS THE MOST CRITICAL PART THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PRIORITY FOR REPLACEMENT THAN THE REAR LEAF SPRING. LEAF SPRING ARE TOO THICK THAT WON'T GIVE WAY COMPARED TO THE STRAP THE HOLD THE TANK FULL OF GASOLINE. THIS WILL OBVIOUSLY CAUSE FIRE ONCE IT FALL OFF THE ROAD WHILE IN MOTION. I HAVE THE COPY OF THE RECEIPT THAT WILL SERVE AS THE PROOF OF MY COMPLAIN.
I OWN A 2006 TACOMA, WITH 67,800 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED IT FROM A DEALERSHIP IN 2013; IT HAD 34,000 MILES ON IT THEN. I RECEIVED CORRESPONDENCE FROM TOYOTA IN 2014 THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE FRAME INSPECTED FOR EXCESSIVE RUST. THE SAME DEALERSHIP DID THE INSPECTION AND FOUND IT ELIGIBLE ONLY FOR THE UNDERCOAT SPRAY. LAST WEEK, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SPRING LEAF (PURSUANT TO A SEPARATE RECALL) AND ADVISED ME THAT THE FRAME HAS EXCESSIVE RUST, CRACKS AND PERFORATION. IT'S CLEAR THAT THE UNDERCOAT "SOLUTION" WAS NO SOLUTION AT ALL AND THAT IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNSYMPATHETIC AND DEFENSIVE ABOUT THEIR WORKMANSHIP SPRAYING THE UNDERCOAT. I SEE THAT THERE IS A STATE CLASS ACTION SOMEWHERE DOWN SOUTH -- ARKANSAS? ALABAMA? -- BUT THAT DOESN'T HELP ME (I'M IN THE NORTHEAST) AND I DEPEND EXCLUSIVELY ON THIS TRUCK. CAN NHTSA HELP?
I HAVE A LARGE RUSTED OUT HOLE IN MY FRAME. YOU PROBABLY HAVE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGISTERED. TOYOTA HAS TAKEN THE POSITION THEY NO LONGER BEAR ANY RESPONSIBILITY. I AM ATTACHING THE LETTER SENT TO TOYOTA WITH PICTURES EXPLAINING MY POSITION.
STEERING ISSUE. WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL I EXPERIENCE STIFFNESS ON/OFF ON THE TURN. I NOTICED THE U JOINT WAS RUSTED OUT. I SPRAYED IT WITH SILICONE, WORKED FINE FOR A WHILE, NOW THE STIFFNESS IS BACK. I BELIEVE TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL THIS U JOINT REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE SEVERE CORROSION; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY PERIOD HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I TOOK MY 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA TO BOCH TOYOTA AS PART OF TOYOTA SERVICE CAMPAIGN REGARDING FRAME RECALL BACK IN DEC OF 2015. I WAITED 5 MONTHS TO GET MY TRUCK BACK TO GET IT BACK IN DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS. TRUCK WAS NOT REPAIRED SATISFACTORILY AND I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH IT. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS TO TOYOTA AND BOTH TOYOTA TO NO AVAIL. TRUCK BARELY RUNNING. *TR
RUSTING FRAME. MY MECHANIC NOTED IT DURING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO TOYOTA AS HE HAD ONE OTHER CUSTOMER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT TOYOTA HAD REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE FRAME. MY EXPERIENCE WAS DIFFERENT. I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA DID CONDUCT A "CAMPAIGN" TO INSPECT AFFECTED VEHICLES IN THE 2005 TO 2008 RANGE. THEY CLAIMED THEY SENT OUT RECALL NOTICES BUT I RECEIVED NO SUCH NOTICE. TOYOTA NOW REFUSES TO INSPECT OR REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THERE IS NO WAY OF TELLING HOW MANY OTHER TOYOTA TRUCKS FROM THIS ERA ARE STILL ON THE ROAD AND WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A FRAME FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING ON A ROADWAY. TOYOTA'S DECISION TO ARBITRARILY SET AN EXPIRATION DATE IS NO WAY TO TREAT A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE FACT THAT TOYOTA HAD A CAMPAIGN IS ITSELF AN ADMISSION THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS. NOW IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
TOYOTA SETTLEMENT ON FRAMES: FRAME RUSTED OUT UNDERNEATH, THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT THAT JUST GOT SETTLED WITH TOYOTA, SEE BELOW. PROBLEM WHEN I GO TO A TOYOTA DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED THEY SAY ITS TO LATE BUT THE SETTLEMENT CLEARLY LISTS MY YEAR AND MAKE TRUCK. I WAS UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUE WITH RUST PROBLEMS IN THE FRAME WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED IN MARCH 2014, NOR DID I EVER RECEIVE ANY LETTERS FROM TOYOTA REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH RUSTING FRAMES. DURING A REGULAR MAINTENANCE TUNE-UP AT A TOYOTA DEALER 05/13/2016 (160,000 MILES), THEY REPORTED TO ME 2 HOLES IN THE FRAME RESULTING FROM RUST AND THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. THEY ALSO REPORTED THAT THE MANUFACTURE HAD EXTENDED SOME KIND OF 'RECALL' TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM HAD EXPIRED MARCH 31, 2016 AND THERE WAS NOTHING THE DEALERSHIP COULD DO. THE DEALER GAVE ME A REFERRAL TO A SPECIALIST THAT SPECIALIZE IN REPAIRING RUSTED FRAMES. WENT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC TO SEE IF IT WAS WORTH THE EXPENSE TO INVEST IN THE TRUCK, THEY THEN BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, WHICH REPORTED THAT THE TRUCK HAD THE TOYOTA'S ATTEMPT FIX UNDERCOATING DONE AND THAT NOTHING ELSE WOULD BE DONE BY THE MANUFACTURE. CALLED THE TOYOTA CORPORATION CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY CALLED BACK TO SAY NOTHING WOULD BE DONE.

ON DEC 12, 2014 , GUALT TOYOTA IN ENDICOTT NY INSPECTED TRUCK FRAME AS A RESULT OF THE TOYOTA TRUCK FRAME RECALL. AS A RESULT, THEY APPLIED UNDERCOATING TO THE FRAME. ON MAY 6, 2016, MY MECHANIC REPORTED THAT I NEED TO GET MY TRUCK TO TOYOTA FOR THE FRAME RECALL ASAP. I TOLD HIM THAT GAULT HAD APPLIED UNDERCOATING AND HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT THE UNDERCOATING IS GONE AND HE COULD NOT TELL THAT IT WAS UNDERCOATED. MY TACOMA WAS RECALLED FOR RUST ON THE FRAME. A NEW FRAME WAS ORDERED BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY RUSTED PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHEN THE FRAME WAS INSTALLED. I DIDN'T THINK YOU PAID FOR SAFETY RECALL WORK. I CALLED TOYOTA AND ASKED FOR A GUIDELINE AS TO WHAT COSTS WOULD BE MINE AND I HOPED A LITTLE SUPPORT IN DEALING WITH THE DEALER. I DON'T THINK TOYOTA TRUSTS THE DEALER. THEY WERE NO HELP. THIS SAFETY REPAIR WOULD COST ME THOUSANDS WITH THERE BEING NO LIMITS AS TO WHAT THE TOTAL WOULD BE. IF YOU REPLACE A FRAME ON A 10 YEAR OLD TRUCK YOU CAN EXPECT SOME RUSTED BOLTS AND FITTINGS. I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR A SAFETY RECALL, BUT THE COST WOULD BE OPEN ENDED. THERE ARE NO LIMITS OR CRITERIA AS TO WHAT WOULD COVERED AND WHAT IS NOT. TOYOTA DOES NOT SEEM TO REALLY WANT TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT. THE LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATED THAT THE DEALER WILL PROVIDE AN APPROPRIATE REMEDY AT NO CHARGE TO ME. WHAT DO I DO? THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY HELP COMING.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A LETTER THROUGH MAIL SAYING THAT I WAS GOING TO RECEIVE THE VEHICLES REAR LEAF SPRING AND IT HAS BEEN MONTHS ALREADY THAT I HAVEN'T. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE ALREADY AND THEY SAY IT HASN'T REACHED THEM YET. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT ELSE CAN I DO AND WILL I GET IT.
I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MALLOY TOYOTA FOR FRAME INSPECTION REGARDING THE LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN EOD- FRAME RUST RECALL. DEALER INFORMED ME THERE WAS RUST, BUT NO PERFORATIONS. THEY RECOMMENDED COATING THE FRAME WITH COMPOUNDS. I FEEL THAT MY TRUCK MAY NOT HAVE PERFORATIONS, BUT IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE FRAME BECOMES PERFORATED, RESULTING IN A DANGEROUS / UNSAFE VEHICLE. PUTTING THE COMPUNDS ON THE FRAME IS A QUICK BAND-AID AND DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS FRAME WILL BECOME UNSAFE, IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. THIS WILL NOT ONLY POTENTIALLY JEOPARDIZE THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY / OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE, BUT ALSO THE OTHERS THAT SHARE THE ROAD WITH MY TRUCK.
ON MAY 29, 2014 THE TRUCK WENT TO BOCH TOYOTA IN NORWOOD, MA FOR THE LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN THAT TOYOTA SENT A LETTER DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE FRAME. BOCH TOYOTA SAID THE FRAME WAS OKAY AND THEY COULD COAT IT WITH A CRC. IN JANUARY 2016 THE TRUCK WAS AT MCGEE TOYOTA AND THEIR TECHNICIANS SAID THAT THE CRC HAD FAILED AND THE FRAME HAD EXCESSIVE CORROSION. THEY PUT IN FOR A NEW FRAME BECAUSE THE LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN GOES THROUGH MARCH 31, 2016, HOWEVER TOYOTA DENIED SAYING THEY HAD ALREADY COATED THE FRAME AND THAT WAS ALL THEY WOULD DO. AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO TOYOTA CORPORATE THEY ASKED ME TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK ON MARCH 9, 2016 FOR THEIR TECHNICIANS TO REVIEW. I AM TOLD THEIR TECHNICIANS SAW THE CORROSION BUT HAVE NOT BEEN PROVIDED A REPORT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS FRAME CORROSION ON THIS WEBSITE AS WELL AS IN THE NEWS AND TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THE FRAMES ON THE OLDER MODEL TACOMAS WHICH WERE COATED WITH THE CRC AND FAILED. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THIS FRAME AS IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I AM ATTACHING PICTURES OF THE FRAME WHICH I TOOK MYSELF AND ALSO A SAMPLE COPY OF THE LETTER I RECEIVED BACK IN 2014 DESCRIBING THE CAMPAIGN.

TOYOTA TACOMA LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN. I DROPPED MY TRUCK OFF IN NOVEMBER 2015 FOR A FRAME INSPECTION, I WAS THEN TOLD I COULD NOT DRIVE MY TRUCK OFF OF THE LOT AND HAD TO HAVE A LOANER VEHICLE. I WAS IN A LOANER VEHICLE WITHOUT MY TRUCK FOR 4 MONTHS UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF MARCH 2016. THE DAY I GOT MY TRUCK BACK, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CODES WERE P0420 AND P0430 WHICH INDICATE A CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN, OR EVER IN THE 2 YEARS I OWNED IT, BUT THE DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING BUT SAY IT NEEDS NEW CONVERTS THAT COST OVER $3000. MY TRUCK NOW HAS A VIBRATION FROM 50-55MPH WHICH WAS NOT PRESENT BEFORE AS WELL. I BELIEVE THESE ISSUES ARE A DIRECT RESULT OF THE FRAME BEING REPLACE, OR THE FACT THE MY TRUCK SAT STATIONARY FOR 4 MONTHS WHILE WAITING FOR A FRAME, NEITHER OF WHICH WERE MY FAULT.
