THIS VEHICLE WAS PART OF AN EARLIER RECALL FOR CORROSION OF THE FRAME AND COMPONENT PARTS. TOYOTA REPLACED THE FRAME ALONG WITH A CORRODED LEAKING GAS TANK. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AGO WE NOTICED AN OIL LEAK FROM OUR REAR DIFFERENTIAL. UPON INSPECTION BY OUR LOCAL MECHANIC HE DETERMINED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING IS CORRODED THIS CAUSING A LEAK. THIS VEHICLE IS KNOWN FOR ITS SEVERE CORROSION OF FRAME AND COMPONENT PARTS. WE DISCUSSED OUT CONCERNES OVER THE WIDE SPREAD CORROSION WITH CORPORATE TOYOTA WHEN THE FRAME WAS REPLACED. I CONTACTED CORPORATE TOYOTA YESTERDAY TO DISCUSS THE CURRENT ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD ONLY CONSIDER OUR CLAIM AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A TOYOTA DEALER AT OUR COST. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IT WAS VERY UNLIKELY THAT TOYOTA WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE AGE. THIS VEHICLE IS MECHANICALLY SOUND AND WE INTEND TO KEEP IT, HOWEVER THE CORROSION ISSUE IS PREMATURELY ENDING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE AND ADDRESS IT WITH SPRAY ON EPOXY TO STOP THE OIL LEAK. THEY COULD NOT CONFIRM THAT WOULD WORK ON OUR VEHICLE UNTIL THEY INSPECT IT. WE BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD INSPECT THE DAMAGE FREE OF CHARGE DUE TO THE KNOWN ISSUE THEY HAVE WITH CORROSION. THE BRAKE COMPONENT ATTACHED TO THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ARE ALSO SHOWING EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND WE ARE CONCERNED THESE COMPONENTS WILL FAIL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, RUST WAS NOTICED ON THE FRAME, CROSS MEMBER, AND THE FUEL STRAPS, WHICH WERE EXTENDING TO THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE COMPONENTS COULD FRACTURE. THE DEALER (CUMBERLAND TOYOTA, 1540 INTERSTATE DR, COOKEVILLE, TN 38501, (931) 520-4149) INDICATED THAT THE STATUTE EXPIRED TO RECEIVE THE RECALL REMEDY AND REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V444000 (STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, he noticed that the front wheels would frequently turn to the opposite direction of what was intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the upper ball joints had failed and needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic replaced the upper ball joints with the same model; however, the failure reoccurred after the vehicle had been driven for less than 20,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the upper ball joints with the same model part; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would only replace the ball joints with the original OEM ball joints. The vehicle was taken to an auto builder who assisted the contact in replacing the control arms, upper and lower ball joints, and retro shocks with a different model. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22E002000 (Suspension) because the VIN was not included. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
BALL JOINT ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BROKE. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME IT HAS BROKE. REPLACED IT EVERY TIME. ONCE TURNING IN A BUSINESS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, DAMAGING VEHICLE, ONCE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND ONCE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT.
DRIVING AT 50 MPH, ENGINE LOSSES POWER LIKE FUEL IS CUT OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THROTTLE PEDAL HAS NO RESPONSE UNTIL 3/4 DOWN . VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK. I WAS TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. CLEARED CODE & HAPPENED AGAIN 2 DAYS LATER, THIS TIME AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE STALLED & WOULD NOT RESTART - SAME CODE - P1121
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, THE LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE LOWER BALL JOINT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-331-4331 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. CASE NUMBER: 1709200106 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 247,000.
MY 2000 TUNDRA FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH TO THE POINT THAT IT DOES NOT PASS THE VA STATE INSPECTION. THERE IS A FRAME RECALL FOR TUNDRAS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL, HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR SOME REASON. TOYOTA SAYS THAT NHTSA DETERMINES WHAT VINS ARE INCLUDED. I HAVE SIGNIFICANT RUST INCLUDING HOLES IN THE FRAME AS WELL AS A SWAY BAR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE THAT HAS TOTALLY BROKEN AWAY DUE TO RUST. HOW CAN I GET MY TRUCK INCLUDED IN THE FRAME RECALL ACTION AS THE CURRENT RECALLS FOR MY VIN ONLY APPLY TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK (NOT MY FAILURES) AND ONLY ADDRESSES PUTTING A COATING ON THE FRAME WHICH WILL NOT ADDRESS MY ISSUE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN MAINTAINED IN VA THROUGHOUT ITS LIFE. I HAVE RECENTLY (~1 YEAR AGO) ALSO TOTALLY REPLACED ALL OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AT MY OWN EXPENSE DUE TO RUST (NEARLY $4,000 WORTH OF WORK). NO FRAME SHOULD HAVE THIS MUCH RUST ISSUES UNLESS THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. MY FRAME NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO ALLOW THE TRUCK TO PASS THE VA STATE INSPECTION.
THE FRAME HAS DEVELOPED RUST HOLES LARGER THAN QUARTER SIZED IN MULTIPLE PLACES.
I HAVE TRIED TO GET TOYOTA TO REPLACE MY FRAME FOR ABOUT MAYBE SIX YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN AND HAD THE TREATMENT AROUND THE SPARE TIRE ON THE FRAME TREATED, AND OVER A COUPLE OF YEAR ALL OF THE BLACK COLORED TREATMENT JUST FEEL OFF ON MY DRIVEWAY IN CHARLESTON WV WHERE I LIVED AT THE TIME. I WENT BACK TO LOVE LEXUS AND TOYOTA TO HAVE MY FRAME CHECKED TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPLACE IT ACCORDING TO THE SETTLEMENT OF THE 2000-2003 TUNDRA TRUCKS.LOVES SAID MY FRAME LOOKED OK TO THEM AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING AT THAT TIME. THIS WAS ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. NOW MY LEFT FRONT SIDE OF MY FRAME HAS A HOLE IN THE UNDER NEATH SIDE OF THE FRAME AND THE STRUT BAR IS RIPPING AWAY FROM THE FRAME...I CALLED AND TALKED TO ALEXUS, AND AL , AND A HIGHER UP MAN IN THE COMPANY NAMED ROB, THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME BETTER I.D. THAN THAT, I TOLD HIM THIS STORY AS I'M SURE HIS UNDERLING AL DID, THAT IS WHY ROB CALLED ME ON AUG 22ND AND TOLD ME THERE WERE NO AVENUES THAT HE (ROB) COULD SEE TO HELP ME.THEN I SAID WOULD HE HELP ME TRADE FOR A NEWER TRUCK AND HE (ROB) SAID THAT WOULD BE UP TO ME TO DO. MY TUNDRA IS UNDRIVEABLE AND I THINK TOYOTA SHOULD FIX IT IN THE DEAL THAT WAS MADE FOR THE 2000 TO 2003 TOYOYA TUNDRA TRUCKS. WHAT DO I DO TO GET SOME HELP. WALK TO WHRE I WANT TO GO? I AM ON DISABILITY AND I HAVE VERY BAD CONDITIONS, AND I DON'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO GO BUY A VEHICLE. I THINK IF MY VEHICLE MEETS THEIR SPECS FOR REPAIR MY TRUCK SHOULD BE FIXED!!!! THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (CARTER TOYOTA, 160 W 3RD AVE, COLVILLE, WA 99114) AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE DURING THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
FRAME RECALL - THE FRAME ORIGINALLY RECEIVED THE CRC COATING FROM KERRY TOYOTA DURING THE FRAME RECALL (UNKNOWN RECALL NUMBER AND TIME OF APPLICATION). THE COATING HAS FAILED AND AS A RESULT THE STEERING RACK MOUNTS HAVE SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME DUE TO RUST. THE BOLT AND MOUNTING POINT ARE STILL TOGETHER, BUT BROKEN FROM THE CROSSMEMBER. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN CHANGE IN HOW THE STEERING WAS OPERATING. IT WAS CAUSING ME TO WONDER AROUND IN MY LINE. I FELT I HAD VERY LITTLE CONTROL ON THE STEERING. ONCE I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK, IT WAS APPARENT AS TO WHAT HAPPENED. THERE IS ALSO SIGNIFICANT RUST DAMAGE TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY WHERE THE MAIN CROSS MEMBER IS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. THIS IS ALSO WHERE MAIN SUSPENSION COMPONENTS MOUNT TO THE FRAME. I BELIEVE THE CRC COATING HAS DONE NOTHING TO PREVENT THE RUST FROM DESTROYING THE FRAME AS IT WAS DESTROYED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THERE ARE OTHER SUB CROSS MEMBERS SUFFERING THE SAME RUST DAMAGE ALONG THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. THERE ARE TWO MOUNTS WHERE THERE IS COMPLETE SEPARATION BETWEEN THE FRAME AND CROSSMEMBER.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE LESS THEN 2 YEARS AGO UNAWARE OF THE RECALL FROM A SMALL DEALER. WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE THE SHOCKS WAS TOLD ABOUT THE RECALL. THERE IS NO WAY TO REPLACE THEM AND NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE TRUCK. IT'S IN GREAT SHAPE OTHER THEN THIS. CAN YOU HELP?

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THEY BOTH SHOULD BE REPLACED OR THE VEHICLE MAY FAIL AN INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A MANUFACTURER RECALL, BUT THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE STATUTE EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE THE RECALL REMEDY FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V444000 (STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 01E041000 (TRAILER HITCHES/TRAILER WIRE HARNESS CONVERTER). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE NOT RUSTED TO THAT EXTENT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WARPING CAUSING LEAK WHICH IN TURN CAUSING VEHICLE TO RUN IMPROPERLY AND EFFECTING PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY ISSUE. ENGAGING ACCELERATOR WITH THE LEAK CAUSES VEHICLE TO SPUTTER AND LOSES POWER MAKING VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
I HAVE RUST HOLES IN THE FRONT SECTION OF MY TRUCK FRAME. TOYOTA REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ONLY APPEAR TO COVER THE REAR PART OF THE FRAME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND COULD CAUSE A LIFE SAFETY CONDITION WHEN THE FRAME FAILS.
VEHICLE WAS RECALLED DUE TO HOLES IN THE FRAME. AT 139080 MILES TOYOTA JUNCTIONS INSPECTED IT AND PLUGGED HOLE AND ALSO SPRAYED THE FRAME AS A COVER UP, INSTEAD OF REPLACING IT. AFTER 1000S OF DOLLARS OF WORK DONE TO ALOT OF RUST. WE ARE NOW AT 152000 MILES AND IT IS A TOTAL RUST AND HOLES THRU OUT.
SEVERE FRAME RUST, PURCHASE TRUCK FROM TOYOTA DEALER IN 2015. TOYOTA RECALL IN NOV. 2009 THAT ENDED 2012. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER TRUCK WAS INSPECTED IN 2012 AND PASS. I HAVE PLENTY OF PICTURE'S BUT CAN'T UPLOAD HERE.
MY MECHANIC TOLD ME MY FRAME IS RUSTING HORRIBLY. THERE IS A HOLE 6INCH BY 6 INCH NEAR THE REAR TIRE. HE THOUGHT HE HEARD OF A RECALL ABOUT THIS. I ONLY HAVE 44,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. PURCHASED NEW, ONLY HAD 1 MILE ON ODOMETER. 12NO MAJOR HIGHWAY MILES. I LIVE 6 MILES FROM WORK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,315.
I WAS RECENTLY DOING SOME ROUTINE REPAIRS ON MY 2000 TUNDRA AND NOTICED THE LEFT REAR FRAME RAIL & SPARE TIRE CROSSOVER HAS VERY SEVERE RUST DAMAGE. ON 9/21/2011 THIS 2000 TUNDRA WAS INSPECTED FOR FRAME RUST BY A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I ASKED THE TECH WHAT WAS THE METHOD FOR INSPECTION, HE REPLIED THEY WOULD HIT THE FRAME WITH A HAMMER IN THREE TO FOUR AREAS, IF THEY WERE UNABLE TO PUNCH A HOLE IN THE FRAME IT PASSED INSPECTION. THE SPARE TIRE WAS NOT REMOVED TO INSPECT THE SPARE TIRE CROSSOVER. THE LEFT REAR FRAME AREA (WHERE THE WORST DAMAGE IS ON MY FRAME) IS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO HIT WITH A HAMMER WITH THE SPARE TIRE IN PLACE. TOYOTA & THE DEALERSHIP IS DENYING ANY RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS MATTER. I BELIEVE THAT IF THIS FRAME WAS IN GOOD SHAPE IN 2011 IT SHOULD STILL BE ROAD WORTHY TODAY (IT IS NOT) I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY TUNDRA OWNER THAT IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS, THEY KNEW THAT THESE FRAMES WERE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FAIL, I NOW HAVE A TRUCK WITH AN ABOVE AVERAGE BODY PERFECT INTERIOR AND A WELL MAINTAINED DRIVE TRAIN THAT IS BASICALLY WORTHLESS. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO REPLACE THESE FRAMES WHEN THEY DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM. WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM INJURY OR WORSE DEATH? I HAVE BEEN DRIVING TOYOTA'S SINCE 1984, THIS IS FIRST TIME THE FRAME FAILED BEFORE THE REST OF THE VEHICLE. REAR BRAKE LINE AND PROPORTIONING VALVE FAILED CAUSING THE BRAKING OF THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL INTERSTATE ROADWAY. THE CORROSION OF THE REAR CROSS MEMBER IS A KNOWN RECALL (SEE ATTACHED) NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 09V444000 RECALL DATE: 2009-11-18 WHICH I JUST FOUND TODAY WHILE SEARCHING FOR A PROPORTIONAL VALVE REPLACEMENT PART! OUR VIN IS SHOWING 0 RECALLS, BUT THIS CANNOT BE IGNORED DUE TO A VIN! DUE TO THE CORROSION, SPECIAL STEPS WILL NEED TO BE TAKEN BY THE REPAIR SHOP TO EVEN FIX THIS PROBLEM. LIVING IN PENNSYLVANIA, DRIVING ON WINDING, STEEP HILLS IS EVEN MORE OF A REASON THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD NOT BE VIN SPECIFIC. I AM ASKING THAT THE REPAIRS NEEDED TO MY VEHICLE (BRAKE LININGS AND PROPORTIONAL VALVE MUST BE REPLACED!) BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER RECALL THAT IS STILL IN PLACE UNTIL 2019. I HAD JUST TURNED AROUND IN A PARKING LOT AND WAS PULLING AWAY WHEN MY RIGHT WHEEL ASSEMBLY WITHOUT WARNING CAME APART FROM THE SUSPENSION AND WEDGED SIDEWAYS IN THE WHEEL WELL. SHORTLY BEFORE THIS I HAD BEEN DRIVING AT 65 MPH OR FASTER AND THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A DEVASTATING EVENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. AFTER THE VEHICLE STRUCK A POTHOLE, IT MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE O2 SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, STATED THAT THE U-BOLT DETERIORATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERE CORROSION AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 124,604.

WHILE SEARCHING FOR THE SPARE TIRE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE TIRE AND REALIZED THAT THE TIRE HAD FALLEN OFF AND THE REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS CORRODED. TOYOTA HAS 3 RECALLS ON MY TACOMA. ONE OF THEM INCLUDE CORROSION ON THE FRAME. HOWEVER IT IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THE CORROSION IS NOT AT THE RIGHT SPOT. THE ORIGINAL REPORT HAS THE CORROSION AT THE FRONT WITH AN OPENING IN THE FRAME. NOW THE CORROSION HAS SPREAD TO THE REAR WHERE THE RECALL SHOULD COVER. HOWEVER, TOYOTA HAS STUCK WITH THEIR DECISION TO NOT COMPLETE A RECALL. THE FRAME IS NOW VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL NOT EVEN PASS AN INSPECTION. ONE OF THE ARGUMENT FROM TOYOTA NOT TO DO THIS RECALL IS THAT TIME WINDOW IS OVER (AT THE SAME TIME ONE OF THEIR ASSOCIATE TOLD THAT THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT FOR A SAFETY RECALL). THE INSPECTION DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT INCLUDING THE DAMAGE ON THE FRAME IN THE INSPECTION. IN THE RECALL FOR FRAME REPLACEMENT, WHAT I GOT REPLACED IS THE CABLE HOLDING THE SPARE TIRE ONLY (SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE TIRE MAY FALL DOWN) IGNORING THE SERIOUS HOLE AND RUST IN THE ACTUAL FRAME. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER DECEMBER OF 2012 FOR THE FRAME INSPECTION (TANK STRAP AND SPARE TIRE ISSUE REPAIRED ON A SEPARATE DATE). I WAS TOLD THAT A FULL INSPECTION TOOK PLACE TO INCLUDE DISASSEMBLING THE BED OF THE TRUCK. I WAS TOLD THAT NO PERFERATIONS WERE FOUND IN THE FRAME. A SPRAY FOAM KIT WAS USED TO TREAT THE FRAME. ON 8/25/15, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO SELL MY TRUCK WHEN A PROSPECTIVE BUYER NOTICED (2) SIGNIFICANT HOLES IN THE FRAME LOCATED JUST IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE ENTIRE FRAME APPEARS TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT RUST CONSIDERING IT IS ONLY 15 YEARS OLD. NEEDLESS TO SAY, A SALE DID NOT TAKE PLACE. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE STATED THAT HE WOULD CONTACT TOYOTA CORP BUT ALSO STATED THAT THEY MAY NOT REPLACE THE FRAME AS IT IS 15 YEARS OLD. HE CONTACTED ME 2 DAYS LATER STATING THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT REPLACE THE FRAME OR BUY THE VEHICLE BACK. THE FRAME RECALL I REFERRED TO WAS NOT A RECALL ACCORDING TO TOYOTA. RATHER, IT WAS A, "GOOD WILL GESTURE" TO CONSUMERS AFFECTED BY THE SITUATION. THE SERVICE MANAGER DID SUGGEST TO LOOK INTO FINDING A WELDER TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPAIR IT. REALLY?? MECHANICALLY, THE VEHICLE IS SOUND. I AM LEFT WITH SCRAP AND OUT AT LEAST $4500 BECAUSE I CANT SELL IT THE WAY IT IS. THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT MY FAMILY IS STILL ALIVE. WHAT A SHAM. THE FRONT SIDE OF THE TRUCK IMPACTED THE PAVEMENT, AND THE TRUCK BEGAN SWERVING. I TRIED TO STOP THE TRUCK, BUT THE BRAKES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING.
