TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED BUT THE WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING HOUSING SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000. UPDATED 7/14/15*CN UPDATED 10/16/217*CN
MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT VEHICLE BRAKE LINE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED, THE TIRE'S REAR WELL WAS CORRODED, AND THE STEEERING COLOMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE ALSO MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND. THE VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. PRIOR TO BEING NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS REMEDIED UNDER NHTSA CAMPIGN: 09V444000 (STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.KH
ROHRICH TOYOTA REPLACED THE SEVERELY RUSTED FRAME ON MY 2000 TUNDRA IN 2009, ONLY AFTER NHTSA DIRECTED THEM TO. ROHRICH TOYOTA AFTER TELLING ME THAT PER MY VIN I WASN'T ONE OF AFFECTED OWNERS!? TOYOTA REPLACED FRAME AND BRAKE LINES AS WELL AS CROSS MEMBER IN 2009. TOYOTA THEN REATTACHED RUSTED FUEL LINE TO NEW FRAME AND NOW RUST FROM OLD FRAME HAS CAUSED THE FUEL LINE TO LEAK SEVERELY. I CALLED ROHRICH AND TOYOTA AMERICA AND WAS DENIED REMEDY OF REPLACING FUEL LINE! I AM A SURVIVOR OF OPEN HEART SURGERY AND MY WIFE IS A DISABLED DIABETIC AMPUTEE AND WE NEED OUR VEHICLE FOR DR'S APPOINTMENTS AND SHOPPING ETC... IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP AND SOON? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE CHANGING THE OIL IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN PULLED THE BED OFF AND COATED THE BACK. THE FRONT WAS NOT TREATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
TRUCK IS VERY HARD TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS AND DOESN'T CORRECT WHEN COMING OUT OF A TURN. STEERING WANTS TO FREEZE UP WHEN MAKING A U TURN. I'VE HEARD THAT THE BALL JOINTS CAN SNAP AND SEND THE TRUCK CAREENING OUT OF CONTROL. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK SPECIFICALLY TO HAVE SOMETHING SAFE FOR TRAVELING LONG DISTANCES AND CANNOT HAVE A MALFUNCTION LIKE THIS HAPPEN. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 1-28-2015 MY 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA,WITHOUT WARNING THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SLAMMED TO THE GROUND SLIDING TO A DEAD STOP THE TIRE JAMMED UNDER THE BODY OF THE TRUCK,VERY FRIGHTENING TO THINK WHAT IF I WAS DRIVING FASTER OR IF ANOTHER CAR WAS COMING TOWARDS YOU OR FROM BEHIND,AFTER CALLING A TOW TRUCK AND GETTING THE VEHICLE OFF THE GROUND WE WERE ABLE TO SEE THE BALL JOINT FAILED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS EXTREME RUST AND HOLES ON THE FRONT AREA OF THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
THE OFF-ROAD WIRING HARNESS BOX WAS REPLACED IN 2012 BY RECALL STILL HAVING PROBLEM WITH THIS UNIT CAN NOT GET IT TO WORK. TOYOTA SAYS ONLY 1 YR WARRANTY. ALSO TAIL LIGHT BULB WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE KEEPS FALLING OUT SO YOU HAVE NO BACK UP LIGHT OR PARKING LIGHT WHEN FALLS OUT. BOTH HAVE HAD RECALLS BUT STILL DO NOT WORK. WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO DO. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA TO HAVE MY FRAME REVIEWED FOR RUST DAMAGE. THIS OCCURRED IN 2012, SO I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD AFTER INSPECTION THAT MY TRUCK SHOWED NO RUST. I RETAINED THE PAPERWORK INDICATING SUCH. ON 12/30/2014 I TOOK MY TRUCK FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WHEN THE TRUCK WENT UP ON THE LIFT IT ACTUALLY BROKE IN HALF. THE SHOP HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS AND WAS AMAZED AT THE VOLUME OF RUST INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY. I CONTACTED MY TOYOTA DEALER BECAUSE I HEARD OF THESE TRUCKS BEING RECALLED FOR FRAME PROBLEMS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME? PLEASE HELP ME. I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THIS TRUCK? *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND SPRAYED WITH A CORROSION PROTECTION COMPOUND. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO CORRODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED OUT. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE RUSTING OF THE FRAME. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN MARCH OF 2013 AND WAS TOLD THE FRAME DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT ONLY NEEDED TO BE "UNDER COATED" WHICH THEY DID. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THIS "UNDERCOATING" STARTED PEELING OFF IN LARGE SHEETS. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK BACK TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS PERFORATION OF THE FRAME. THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FRAME APPROX. 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER. TOYOTA CALLED ME BACK AND I WAS TOLD THEY HAD DONE WHAT WAS REQUIRED FOR THE RECALL AND THEY WOULDN'T BE DOING ANYTHING ELSE. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS A BIG ENOUGH CONCERN THAT A RECALL WAS DECLARED AND IT APPEARS THAT TOYOTA HAS TAKEN THE POSITION THAT AS LONG AS THEY MAKE A TOKEN EFFORT IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I PULL A BOAT WITH THIS TRUCK AND AM NOW CONCERNED THAT IF THE FRAME FAILS IT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
THE FRAME ON MY TUNDRA IS EXTREMELY RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE VEHICLE SAFETY IS BECOMING A CONCERN OF MINE. IT HAS VERY LOW MILES FOR THE YEAR, AND IT IS CONSISTENTLY GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. *TR
ON SATURDAY, 11/1, I STARTED MY TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY, DROVE FORWARD, AND TRIED TO TURN ONTO THE ROAD, BUT I COULDN'T TURN. I BACKED THE TRUCK INTO MY DRIVEWAY AGAIN. I LOOKED IN THE TRUCK'S MANUAL, BOUGHT THE DEXRON FLUID THAT IT RECOMMENDED, AND PUT IT IN THE POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR, BUT THE TRUCK GROANED WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT. THE NEXT DAY, I PUT MORE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR, BUT I COULD NOT TURN IT. WHEN I CALLED THE MECHANIC ON MONDAY, HE SAID TO HAVE IT TOWED IN. BEFORE IT WAS TOWED, I PUT MORE FLUID IN IT. IT LEAKED ALL OVER THE BED OF THE TRUCK THAT HAULED IT TO THE MECHANIC. AFTER IT WAS AT THE MECHANIC'S SHOP, HE SAID THAT BOTH POWER STEERING LINES WERE BROKEN. HE SAID IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE TUNDRA. I WAS GRATEFUL THAT THEY DIDN'T BREAK WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A WRECK. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT KNOWN PROBLEMS OUGHT TO BE SUBJECT TO RECALL AND PAID FOR BY TOYOTA. THEY SHOULD NOT BE LEFT TO THE OWNER TO FIND OUT BY ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SPARE TIRE WAS HANGING LOW AND THE FRAME AND CROSS MEMBER WERE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5 4WD. IT WAS A VEHICLE THAT WAS SOLD AND SPENT SEVERAL YEARS IN PA. IN 2010 MY TRUCK WAS TAKEN INTO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN PA TO HAVE A FRAME RUST INSPECTION PERFORMED DUE TO A TOYOTA RECALL RELATED TO RUST. AT THE TIME THEY REPLACE FUEL TANK STRAPS AND FOUND NO OTHER RUST PERFORATION ON THE FRAME.IN 2014 THERE WAS STILL A GROWING AMOUNT OF RUST SPREADING IN OTHER AREAS OF THE FRAME. IT WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA IN RALEIGH, NC. SERVICE MANAGER THERE AT THE TIME RECOMMENDED A FRAME REPLACEMENT DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. NO FRAME WAS EVER ORDERED. NOW OVER TWO YEARS LATER MY TRUCK STILL HAVE THE RUST AND THEN SOME ON THE FRAME. I CANNOT HANG A SPARE TIRE IN THE REAR DUE TO THE RUST. THE FRAME HAVE 2 HOLES IN IT AND IS UNSAFE. TOYOTA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE FRAME EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RECOMMENDED IN 2014 AND WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I HAVE CALLED AND CALLED AND HAVE OPENED UP A CASE WITH TOYOTA FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY STILL REFUSE TO REPLACE IT NO MATTER WHAT I SAY AND THE PROOF OF THE DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF POOR QUALITY ON THEIR PART. THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND IT SHOULD HAVE A NEW FRAME UNDER IT. I WAS TOLD BY MY CASE MANAGER THAT SINCE IT HAD BEEN INSPECTED PREVIOUSLY IN 2010 THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE RUST THAT APPEARED IN 2014. RIDICULOUS!!!! THE RUST APPEARED. UNDER WARRANTY. NEEDED A FRAME IN 2014. UNSAFE. PERIOD!!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE ORIGINAL BALL JOINT FAILED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED. THE CONTACT, WHO IS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, REPLACED THE BALL JOINT BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 310,000.

FRONT FRAME IS RUSTED IN MULTIPLE AREAS . 3-4 INCH HOLES COMPLETELY THROUGH FRAME . TOYOTA REPLACED BACK GAS TANK STRAPS , SPARE TIRE CARRIER AND SPRAYED FRAME FROM CAB BACK . DIDN'T ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUES ON FRONT OF FRAMEBUT WOULD NOT PASS VEHICLE FOR WV STATE INSPECTION. STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE ! NOTED HOLES IN FRAME BUT SAID THEY WEREN'T REPLACING FRAMES AT THIS TIME . MY RESEARCH SHOWS THEY HAVE REPLACED MANY FRAMES AND MY VEHICLE CERTAINLY IS UNSAFE . ALL I WANT IS FOR MY SONS TRUCK AND MY SON TO BE SAFE ON THE ROAD. .PLEASE HELP. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH 104,000 MILES. IT WAS PART OF A LIMITED CAMPAIGN RELATED TO FRAME/RELATED COMPONENT CORROSION. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP APPLIED CRC TO CERTAIN PARTS OF THE FRAME BUT DID AN INSUFFICIENT JOB AND THE MATERIAL IS FLAKING OFF IN LARGE PIECES. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT ONE OF MY FUEL TANK GAS STRAPS RUSTED OFF AND NOW THE TANK IS HOLDING ON BY ONLY 1 STRAP. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND RETURNED TO DEALER AND NO ONE WILL EVEN CONSIDER HELPING ME REMEDY THE GAS STRAP ISSUE BECAUSE THE RECALL PERIOD IS CLOSED. THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF MY FRAME IS RUSTED AND SEVERAL COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO THE FRAME ARE COMPROMISED. NO, THERE HASN'T BEEN AN ACCIDENT BUT I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THIS IS MECHANICALLY SOUND BUT ISN'T SAFE ENOUGH TO FILL UP WITH GAS FOR FEAR OF A FIRE. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE USES VERY DECEPTIVE PRACTICES CONCERNING SAFETY. IT IS SAD THAT LARGE CORPORATIONS VALUE CONSUMER SAFETY SO LITTLE. *TR
THIS VEHICLE AS A LOT OF FRAME RUST WHERE THE FRAME CONNECTS TO THE LEAF SPRINGS. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS WITH TOYOTA AND THEY DO NOT SEE IT AS AN ISSUE SINCE IT WAS NOT IN ONE OF THE 20 STATES THEY CONSIDERED "SALT" STATES. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TACOMAS AND TUNDRAS WITHIN THIS VINTAGE. IF THERE IS NOT PERFORATION, THEN THEY SEE IT AS NOT A PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH LOTS OF SCALING LEADS TO PERFORATIONS AND POSSIBLE WEAKNESS WHERE THE SUSPENSION CONNECTS TO THE FRAME. *TR
THE BED OF MY 2000 TUNDRA IS RUSTING OUT WHERE THE CROSS MEMBERS ARE WELDED TO THE BED AND WHERE THE BOLTS ARE CONNECTED TO THE FRAME. TOYOTA REPLACED THE FRAME IN MAY OF 2011. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE OTHER TUNDRA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS REQUESTED BY TOYOTA RECALL CENTER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER,HEAD MECHANIC ,AND CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER ALL LOOKED AT THE TRUCK AND SAID IT WAS IN BAD SHAPE AND HAD TO DO WITH INFERIOR METAL,POOR WORKMANSHIP,OR INFERIOR UNDER COATING. LAKEWOOD TOYOTA SAID THEY COULDN'T ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE'S NO RECALL FOR THE BED. IF THE BED BECOMES UNATTACHED FROM THE FRAME THEN THERE COULD BE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS HOPING YOU COULD NOTIFY TOYOTA OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR INFERIOR QUALITY AND POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP WANT TO PUT THIS ON RECORD SO YOUR DEPT CAN ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND OR POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO FURTHER PURSUE THIS MATTER. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRE WAS DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO RUSTING OF THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VERY ISSUE. TOYOTA STATED A RECALL NOTICE WAS MAILED TO THE CONSUMER. FRAME OF VEHICLE HAS RUST PERFORATION! VEHICLE HAS NO RUST ELSEWHERE, BUT THE FRAME ALONE IS ROTTING AWAY IN CERTAIN PLACES. TOYOTA'S RECALL ONLY COVER THE SPARE TIRE AREA OF THE FRAME, BUT FRAME FRACTURE WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL AND LACK OF OCCUPANT PROTECTION. *TR

THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE REAR CROSS MEMBER OVER THE SPARE TIRE OR THE GAS TANK STRAPS BEING AN ISSUE. THEY COULD BE BUT WERE NOT THE IMMINENT CONCERN AT THIS POINT. I HAD JUST REPLACED THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION COOLER DUE TO RUSTING THROUGH AND ANTI-FREEZE ENTERING THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. THERE WERE OTHER ISSUES THAT ARE APPARENTLY COMMON WITH THE TUNDRA - LEAKING/CRACKED MANIFOLDS, ETC. THE TRUCK IS AT THE LOCAL DEALER PENDING REPAIR. DRIVER #1 WAS TRAVELING NE AND ROUNDING A BEND. ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WAS DRIVING IN CENTER OF ROAD. DRIVER #1 VEERED VEHICLE FURTHER NE TO AVOID A COLLISION. HE BROKE LUGNUTS AND STUDS TRYING TO REMOVE THE REAR TIRES. HE REFUSED TO TOUCH THE FRONT TIRES. TOYOTA WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM. ON 10/24/13 I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER TOYOTA GARAGE TO DO AN OVERALL INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE SO I KNEW THE BRAKES AND OTHER COMPONENTS WERE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT HOW COMMON THIS IS ON TUNDRAS AND TACOMAS. ALSO FOUND OUT THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN APPLYING SOME TYPE OF UNDERCOATING TO THESE FRAMES SO THEY ARE AWARE IT IS A PROBLEM. CALLED TOYOTA AND THE AGREED TO INSPECT IT AT NO CHARGE. OF COURSE DEALER DID NOT SEEM TO THINK IT WAS A PROBLEM SO TOYOTA CUSTOMER RELATIONS WAS CONTACTED. GUESS WHAT? THEY SEE NO PROBLEM EITHER! APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO THERE WAS A SEPARATION OF MY BALL JOINT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF MY CAR. I WAS GOING ABOUT 25 MILE AN HOUR AND BASICALLY MY FRONT END COLLAPSED AND THE WHEEL SEPARATED FROM MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC AND HAD IT REPAIRED. THEN ON APRIL 13TH 2014 IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON MY PASSENGER SIDE.THIS TIME I WAS ROLLING TO A STOP SIGN SO THE TIRE DID NOT COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER HAPPENING TWICE I LOOKED UP RECALL AND DISCOVERED THIS EXACT SCENARIO WAS DESCRIBED FOR MY VEHICLE TYPE DURING THE YEARS OF 2002-2004. I WAS LUCKY BOTH TIMES I WAS NOT TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER :EA04024 IS THE RECALL I AM REFERRING TO. *TT
MY 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA FRAME PERFORATED THE SIZE OF MY FIST DUE TO RUST NEAR THE REAR SHACKLE MOUNTS ON BOTH SIDES THIS IS THE MAIN LOAD SUPPORT AREA. I TOOK THIS TO WILSON TOYOTA OF AMES AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE RECALL BUT IT EXPIRED. I HAD IT INSPECTED LAST SUMMER IN 2012 THEY SAID IT WAS FINE. TOYOTA STATED THAT THEY ONLY HAD TO DO A VISUAL INSPECTION FOR PERFORATION. NOW 3 MONTHS AFTER THE EXPIRATION I HAVE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE CARE WHO DENIED PROGRESSION WITH A CLAIM ON A CASE BASIS STATING THE DATE ENDED. I STATED IF I TRIED TO LOAD MY TRUCK TO THE RECOMMENDED GROSS TOWING CAPACITY I WOULD BE AFRAID THAT I COULD BUCKLE MY FRAME OR COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY. I BELIEVE THE QUOTE WAS "AND" OR SOMETHING NON CONCERNING. I CONFRONTED THE STATEMENT THEN HE PROCEEDED TO STATE IF YOUR VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE IT. I'M WRITING THIS TO MAKE AWARE AS THERE WAS A LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE PROCESS AND PROCEDURE IN AND WHEN MY INSPECTION WAS CONDUCTED. THOUGH I MAY BE ONE I FEAR THIS MAY LEAD OR CONTINUE TO GO ON TO OTHERS AS THE PROGRESSION OF RUST TO PERFORATE A FRAME IN LESS THAN A YEARS TIME FRAME A 3000K MILES DRIVEN IS A CONCERN. I DO RESIDE IN IOWA WHERE WE DO RECEIVE JUST AS MUCH WINTER WEATHER AS IL OR MN WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE LIST AS WELL. THANK YOU *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR MAIN FRAME EXHIBITED NUMEROUS HOLES. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V444000 (STRUCTURE). THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE MAIN FRAME WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED; HOWEVER, THE REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS THE ONLY PART BEING REPLACED AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
