CAB SEPARATED FROM CHASSIS. CAB IS ATTACHED TO CHASSIS AT 4 FLANGES WELDED TO FRAME. 2 EACH 10 MM BOLTS CONNECT CAB TO EACH FLANGE. A 71 MM HOLE EXISTS IN FLANGE BETWEEN THE 2 EACH 13 MM HOLES FOR THE 10 MM BOLTS. ONLY 6 MM OF FLANGE STEEL EXISTS BETWEEN 13 MM HOLES AND 71 MM HOLE. CAB SEPARATED BY TEARING 10 MM BOLT NUTS THROUGH THE 13 MM HOLES AT THE 6 MM DIMENSION. IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE IN AIRCRAFT STRUCTUREAL REPAIR THAT THE MINIMUM DIMENSION FOR HOLE SPACING IS 3 HOLE DIAMETERS (I.E., HOLE SPACING SHOULD HAVE BEEN APPROXIMATELY 30 MM INSTEAD OF 6 MM).
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE A HEAVY VIBRATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED. MR
THE CONSUMER IS CONCERNED AT THIS TIME BECAUSE WHEN HE APPLIES THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES IT SHAKES AT VIBRATES, THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED EVERY 4000 MILES BECAUSE THEY WARP. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THE CONSUMER CAN HEAR A BUZZING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA WHEN IN REVERSE AND DRIVING, THE NOISE IS MORE APPARENT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARN. MR *NLM *DT
VEHICLE HAS DRIVER & PASSENGER AIR BAGS - IN FRONT END COLLISION AT 45 MPH NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED, DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK SO DRIVER HIT STEERING COLUMN WITH FULL IMPACT - THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. NLM
TOYOTA CAMRY 2002 MODEL; PROBLEM OBSERVED 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE BRAND NEW CAR; BRAKE PROBLEM? CAR ACCELERATES. REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND THEN TO THE COMPANY; NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I TOLD THEM "I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE SOMETIMES I CANNOT STOP THE CAR".*AK
VEHICLE PURCHASED 4/22/2002. ALL OF THE PULSATING, VIBRATION WHILE BRAKING DOWNHILL (AS DESCRIBED BY SO MANY IN THE PRECEDING 21 COMPLAINTS UNDER "COMPONENT" SERVICE BRAKES. HYDRAULIC), OCCURRED ON: 8/20. 2002-WARRANTY WEEK., 5/1, 2003-MORE WARRANTY WORK, FINALLY ON 1/5/2006 WENT TO NAPA AUTO REPAIR AND FINALLY PAID FOR A SENSIBLE ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM AND SO FAR A GOOD BRAKING EXPERIENCE. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 35,800 MILES!! I HOPE THAT SOMEWHERE IN THIS COMPLAINT I WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE THE REASONED ANALYSIS BY NAPA REGARDING UNSIZED FRONT PADS BEFORE I RUN OUT OF SPACE: LARGER PADS FOR SEQUOIA INSTALLED. SEQUOIA HAS 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES-CURB WT. 5280. TUNDRA-CURB WT. 4518. TUNDRA REAR BRAKES-DRUM. SMALLER PADS IN FRONT THAN SEQUOIA. INITIAL PROBLEMS SEEMINGLY DEVELOP WHEN REAR DRUM SHOES WEAR DOWN UNEVENLY THEREBY PUTTING MORE WEAR ON SMALL FRONT DISCS. NO "FAILURES" OR "DEATHS OR "INJURIES" TO REPORT--(SORRY) BUT ONLY BECAUSE MOST OF US SLOW DOWN BEFORE THE INEVITABLE OCCURS! WARRANTY WORK ON THE TWO DESCRIBED OCCASIONS IS LISTED AS:"F. DISC 1-SD GND COMB:OPPOSITE SIDE REAR BRAKE DRUM (ONE SIDE) R&R OPPOSITE SIDE" IN MAY, 2003 AT 11,611 MI.: "REPLACED CALIPERS PER TSB, RESURFACED FRONT ROTORS, REAR BRAKE DRUM R&R, STRUT SET (2) PARKING BRAKE. LARGER TUNDRA PADS ALONE DO NOT SOLVE THE VIOLENT DOWNHILL BRAKING PROBLEM THAT SO MANY OTHERS ALSO DESCRIBE. 2/20/2006 MILEAGE 35,800. 3/07/2007 MILEAGE 41850. VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A HILL WITH ENGINE ON WHEN SUDDENLY VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD INTO A HOUSE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
MY BRAKES HAVE HAD RECURRING SEVERE VIBRATION PROBLEMS ALMOST SINCE NEW. IT GOT BAD ENOUGH FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE MY ROTORS, DRUMS, PADS, SHOES AND BEARINGS TWO TIMES IN THE FIRST 13700 MILES, AS WELL AS TURNING THE ROTORS AND DRUMS AT OTHER TIMES. THE LAST TIME WE TEST DROVE THE TRUCK, IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN WITH THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER ALONG FOR THE RIDE. AT THAT TIME HE ADVISED FILING A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA FOR ARBITRATION. WITH THE TRACK RECORD OF THIS VEHICLE BEING WHAT IT IS, I DON'T THINK THE PROBLEM CAN BE CORRECTED TO MY SATISFACTION.*AK
CONSUMER STATES BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SPONGY AND THERE IS EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE. DEALER DETERMINED THE MASTER CYLINDER FLUID HEATS UP AND CAUSES THE BRAKE SHOES AND DRUMS TO WARP. FRONT AND REAR SHOES AND DRUMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE REAR AXLE AND BEARINGS, WERE AFFECTED BY THIS BRAKING PROBLEM. TS
CONSUMER STATES WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN THE TIRE WILL NOT CHANNEL WATER OUT CORRECTLY, SO TIRES CAN STAY ON THE ROAD. THEY ARE EXPERIENCING SEVERE HYDROPLANE. CONTACTED DEALER/MANUFACTURER, THEY WERE OF NO HELP TO CONSUMER. SIZE P275/55 R18. DOT# B715FMWX1902.ORGINAL TIRES.*JB
THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT TO HANDLE UP TO A 6200 LB FIFTH WHEEL UNIT. CONSUMER HAD A 5400 LB UNIT ON VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED IT TO HAVE A ROCKING MOTION FROM FRONT TO REAR WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *NLM

I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH MY 2002 TUNDRA TRD 4WD. I HAVE HAD IT IN MORE THAN 4 TIMES FOR THE BRAKES VIBRATING/PULSATING AND LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE TAKING IT IN AGAIN AS THEY ARE STARTING TO VIBRATE AGAIN!! RENO TOYOTA HAS ALWAYS DONE ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON IT AND KEEP TRYING TO SAY IT IS MY FAULT THE BRAKES ARE BAD AND THE ROTORS ARE WARPING. THEY REPLACED THE REAR AXLES A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO BUT I HAD TO PAY THE $50 DEDUCTIBLE. THEY ALSO HAD TO INSTALL A GASKET ON THE CROSSOVER FOR THE ENGINE COOLANT AS THE FACTORY NEVER INSTALLED IT. THE AC DOESN'T GET COOL ENOUGH TO COOL THE INTERIOR. WHISTLING NOISE BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS COMING FROM...SOUNDS LIKE COMING FROM SIDE MIRRORS??? I REPLACE THE WHEELS RECENTLY BECAUSE OF VIBRATION BECAUSE THE WHEELS WERE WARPED. ALWAYS HAVE EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST ON FRONT WHEELS. TRANSMISSION FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS SLIPPING ALL THE TIME. ROUGH IDLE AFTER WARM UP. I BOUGHT IT NEW IN JULY 2002 AND NOW HAVE 69400 MILES ON IT. MOST OF WHICH ARE HIGHWAY MILES WITH NO TOWING EVER...NO HEAVY HAULING EVER. AM TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT OFF-ROAD BECAUSE OF ALL THE BRAKE PROBLEMS...NEVADA=MOUNTAINS=CLIFFS=DEATH...I AM NOT READY TO RISK MY LIFE OR MY GRANDCHILDREN SO WILL NOT EVEN LET ME RIDE WITH ME ANYWHERE. *NM
2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA 4X2 SR5 WITH UNDER 18,000 MILES, AT 45 DEGREE ANGLE WHILE IN DRIVE AND NO LOAD, VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACKWARDS AND WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. WHILE ROLLING A LOUD CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE EMINATES FROM THE REAR END AS IF GEARS WERE SLIPPING. VEHICLE SELDOMLY DRIVEN AND ALMOST NEVER PULLS ANY LOADS, NEVER ABUSED OR WRECKED AND MAINTAINED REGULARLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2002. LAKESIDE TOYOTA INFORMED ME TODAY 9-20-04, THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THE TRUCK AND THAT THEY SIMULATED IT WITH ANOTHER TRUCK.*AK
CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AT 55 MPH, BRAKES LOCKED UP, CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, AND WENT INTO A DITCH. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME, NO INJURY.*AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHASSIS AND THE FRAME ALONG THE BRAKE LINES AND MOUNTS HAVE RUST ON THEM. THE RUST HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DETACH FROM THE FRAME WHILE DRIVING WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE SPEED IS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAS NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL FALL APART AT ANY TIME AND CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN # WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, WATER LEAKED FROM ABOVE AND BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER LEAKED FROM A BODY SEAM UNDER THE DASHBOARD, WHICH WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.

WHILE DRIVING STATE SPEED LIMIT HEARD A KNOCKING ON FRONT END OF VEHICLE WHILE APPLYING BRAKES. *AK *TT
I HAVE A 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA THAT HAS BEEN RUSTING AWAY SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT NEW OFF THE LOT. IT STARTED WITH THE WHEELS RUSTING. I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT. NEXT WAS THE TAILGATE AND NOW THE UNDERSIDE OF MY TRUCK LOOKS LIKE A 20 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT WAS SITTING FOR YEARS. I HAVE HEARD AND READ THAT OTHER TUNDRA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND I AGREE THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. TOYOTA'S ARE NOT CHEAP, I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE QUALITY WAS SUPPOSE TO BE EXCELLENT. I ALSO HAVE A CLAIM IN WITH TOYOTA. *TR

I BOUGHT MY 2002 TUNDRA NEW AND EXPERIENCED BRAKE VIBRATION ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE VIBRATION HAPPENS WHEN IT IS COLD (BOUGHT IN NOV 2001) AND IT IS NORMAL. I DID NOT BELIEVE THIS LOGIC, THEN THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND REFUSED TO DO ANY WORK ON IT UNDER WARRANTY (BUT WAS WILLING TO WORK ON IT IF I PAID; GO FIGURE). FIVE YEARS LATER THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE AND HAD TO REPLACE MY PADS SEVERAL TIMES. STOPPING DISTANCE ON THE HIGHWAY IS GETTING LONGER AND MORE DANGEROUS. I SEE HERE THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. WHAT IS THE NHTSA WAITING FOR TO INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION? FOR A BAD ACCIDENT TO OCCUR AND SOMEONE DIES?
THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE FRON DRIVE TRAIN BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH. IT ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE VIHICLE IS COLD AND GOES AWAY AFTER SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAY IT IS A NORMAL CONDITION AND WILL NOT WORK TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM IT IS COMMING FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL.*AK
2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED TOYOTA DID SEND HIM A CHECK FOR $ 61.63. BUT, THEY DIDN'T REIMBURSE FOR HIS TIME FOR INSTALLING THE FUEL SUPPORT STRAP THAT HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED. WHEN HE CONTACTED TOYOTA, HE WAS INFORMED IT WAS THEIR POLICY TO ONLY PAY FOR INSTALLATION WHEN A BUSINESS PERFORMED THE INSTALLATION NOT INDIVIDUALS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER WAS BUSY AND COULDN'T INSTALL THE STRAP, SO HE AND A FRIEND PERFORMED THE INSTALLATION. *JB
BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED. NO RECALL NOTICE FROM DEALER PROBLEM UNIVERSAL WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. DT
WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT MADE A SQUEAKING NOISE, AND FRONT END VIBRATED. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. THIS CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES DUE TO EXCESSIVE BRAKE DETERIORATION. THEY ALSO ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES BECAUSE THEY BEGAN TO WARP.*AK
