I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK USED IN 2015 AND WAS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALLS DUE TO FRAME RUST. I HAVE REPLACED TAILPIPE, MUFFLER, MANY BRAKE COMPONENTS DUE TO RUST PROBLEMS. THE FRAME NOW RUSTED MORE AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT MAY BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. A MECHANIC TOLD ME ABOUT THIS FRAME RUST RECALL AND I TOOK IT TO FRED ANDERSON TOYOTA IN RALEIGH,NC. THE FOUND THAT ALL RECALL ITEMS HAD BEEN COMPLETED BY THE DEALER IN BOONE,NC. I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE THE RUSTING ISSUE IS MUCH MORE SEVERE. I JUST WANT A FAIR EVALUATION OF WHAT CAN OR SHOULD BE DONE. FRED ANDERSON TOYOTA IN RALEIGH DID HAVE THE TRUCK BUT NOT SURE HOW FAR THEY TOOK THE INVESTIGATION OF RUST.
THE CHASSIS OF THE TRUCK IS VERY DAMAGED BY RUST, IN SOME PARTS IT EVEN HAS HOLES, SO I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS VERY SAFE TO HANDLE IT. I BOUGHT IT AT A CAR DEALER A FEW WEEKS AGO, I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A BIT OF RUST ... BUT WHEN I CHECKED IT OUT BETTER I NOW FIND THAT THE RUST REALLY HARMS THE STRUCTURE, ANOTHER PROBLEM ... IT GIVES OFF A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. ..
FRAME OF TRUCK WAS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT AND VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED "NON-DRIVABLE", BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP "CHECKED" THE FRAME IN 2011 AND SAID IT WAS "FINE" AND WE HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THE TRUCK 40,000 MILES SINCE. THEY SAID TO SALVAGE THE TRUCK BUT IT ONLY HAS 127,000 MILES ON IT!!!! AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY IN A SERIOUS HEAD ON COLLISION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT HARR TOYOTA (100 GOLD STAR BLVD, WORCESTER, MA 01606, (508) 471-2530) IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME HAD EXTENSIVE RUSTING AND CORROSION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SECTION CONNECTING THE CABIN TO THE BED OF THE TRUCK WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED BY THE CORROSION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE LOCAL DEALER FIRST TEAM TOYOTA (3400 WESTERN BRANCH BLVD, CHESAPEAKE, VA) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 195,000.
DURING AN OIL CHANGE THE MECHANIC NOTICED THE FRAME JUST IN FRONT OF THE LEAF SPRING BRACKET WAS SEVERELY RUSTED THROUGH MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. WE DID HAVE TOYOTA SUPPOSEDLY ADDRESS A POTENTIAL RUST SITUATION IN 2012. HOWEVER, THIS DAMAGE SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED IF THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY ADDRESSED. WE HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY HAVE TOLD US THAT THERE IS NO ASSISTANCE THAT THEY CAN PROVIDE AT THIS TIME. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THERE ARE POTENTIALLY MANY OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND ARE TOTALLY UNAWARE OF THEIR DANGEROUS SITUATION.
VEHICLE HAD A RECALL FOR FRAME RUSTING OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT TO KOON TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN 2014 FOR THE RECALL. THEY DID A SPRAY ON THE FRAME THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO CURE THE RUSTING OUT ON THE FRAME. HOWEVER THE FRAME IS STILL RUSTING OUT. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE TO CONNACELLI TOYOTA IN SPRINGFIELD PA, AND THEY DO AN INSPECTION TO FIND THE FRAME NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ON. CONNACELLI TELLS ME THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE TIME HAS EXPIRED ON THE RECALL. THIS I COULD UNDERSTAND IF THE VEHICLE NEVER WAS SERVICED IN THE ALLOTTED TIME, BUT HOWEVER IT WAS SERVICED BY KOON TOYOTA AND THE REMEDY EVIDENTLY DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE.
THE FRAME IS SO RUSTED THERE ARE AREAS I CAN PUT MY FIST THROUGH, THE REAR SHOCK RUSTED OFF THE FRAME WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS ROTTED OUT AND THE MID SECTION OF THE VEHICLE HAD THE MOST RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHO SPRAYED THE CENTER AND MID FRAMES WITH RUST INHIBITOR; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
THE FRAME IS 80% ROTTED THROUGH WITH RUST. I'M SURE IT WILL BE DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND UNFORTUNATELY WAITING ANY DAY FOR IT TO COMPLETELY FALL THROUGH. THE BED IS LITERALLY NOSEDIVING INTO THE FRONT BODY OF THE TRUCK.
THE RUST CORROSION IS SO BAD THAT THE SPARE TIRE FELL OFF HITTING THE LEAF SPRING SUPPORT BRACKET AND COMPLETELY CAUSED THE BUMPER TO FALL OFF THE TRUCK. THE SPARE TIRE ROLLED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE CORROSION IS EVIDENT ALL OVER THE CHASSIS AND OTHER PARTS. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND PULLING A LANDSCAPE TRAILER ON ROUTE 173 IN NEW JERSEY. *TR
WHEN PULLING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK ON A ROADSIDE, THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER SNAPPED AND STOPPED WORKING, MAKING IT UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS INCLUDING PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. UPON REMOVING THE COVER OVER THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER HAD INDEED BROKEN COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN.

My frame is to the point that it can not be repaired. It was coated by Toyota years ago as a safety recall but it is to the point now that my mechanic says it is to bad to repair. I have called Toyota and they say there have been frame issues that have been recalled but not with this year and model. only 135,000 miles on the truck

RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE AND PAY FOR REPLACING SRS SENSOR ASSEMBLY DTC B0133 SHORT IN IN P?R SQUIB AND B1100 AIR BAG SENSOR. OLD UNIT SERIAL # 12625229IF. I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRUCK WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST SO TOYOTA WOULD NOT PAY TO REPLACE IT. SINCE IT IS THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE RECALL, WHY IS MY VEHICLE EXCLUDED IF IT IS THE SAME SAFETY CONCERN? I CUD HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF THIS DEFECT. THE NEW UNIT SERIAL # IS 01860095IF

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. SEATBELT BUCKLE PIECE POPPED OUT AND I HAVE TO PUSH THE RED BUTTON TO SECURE SEATBELT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V444000 (STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.

UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPARE TIRE HAD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPARE TIRE HOLDER WAS SEVERELY CORRODED WITH A HOLE AND THE TIRE BRACKETS WERE ALSO CORRODED. THE CONTACT ALSO FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE'S UNDERBODY FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
WHILE DRIVING, I HAD MY SPARE TIRE FAIL OFF THE CAR DUE TO TUNDRA SPARE TIRE LIFT PLATE ROT. I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS CONDITION AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240,000. *TT *TR CONSUMER STATED RECALL EXPIRED AND WAS NOT PROPERLY NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL. *JB

THE CONTACT REMOVED THE TIP OF THE LEVER TO FIND THAT IT WAS FRACTURED FROM THE MOUNTING BRACKET. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF VISALIA, 922 S BEN MADDOX WAY, VISALIA, CALIFORNIA 93292) WAS CONTACTED BY TELEPHONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
THE REMEDY APPLIED TO MY 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOR SAFETY RECALL 09V444000 HAS PROVEN TO BE INEFFECTIVE. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK USED FROM THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE THE SAFETY RECALL REMEDY HAD BEEN PERFORMED. THE FRAME CROSS-MEMBER WHICH SUPPORTS THE FUEL TANK - A COMPONENT CALLED OUT IN TOYOTA DOCUMENTS RELATED TO 09V444000 - HAS SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME ON BOTH SIDES. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS) THIS CONDITION WAS DISCOVERED DURING MY RECENT STATE INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION UNTIL THE CROSS-MEMBER WHICH SUPPORTS THE FUEL TANK CAN BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. SINCE RECALL 09V444000 WAS ORIGINALLY INITIATED TO FIX THIS VERY PROBLEM, I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE SHOULD STILL QUALIFY FOR THIS REPAIR BECAUSE THE FIX APPLIED WAS A BAND-AID REPAIR THAT DID NOT ADDRESS THE ORIGINAL FAULT. YOUR DATABASE CURRENTLY SHOWS THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY OPEN RECALLS ON MY VIN, BUT THE ORIGINAL FLAW HAS PROGRESSED TO THE POINT WHERE THE VEHICLE (WHICH IS OTHERWISE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION) IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE ON PUBLIC ROADWAY. IS TOYOTA OBLIGATED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, OR WAS THEIR TEMPORARY FIX (THE APPLICATION OF RUST-PROOFING) ENOUGH TO ABSOLVE THEM OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY FROM THAT DATE ONWARD?
TAKATA RECALL. AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON AFTER LAST YEARS REPAIR . TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER. A 126918 CODE B0103 1.0 CODE IS IN HISTORY. SYMPTOM NOT MALFUNCTIONING AT THIS TIME. DEALER GAVE ESTIMATE ON AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (ECU REPLACEMENT).

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA 4WD LIMITED ACCESS CAB. IN DEC 2012 BROUGHT TRUCK TO BURNSVILLE TOYOTA FOR RECALL. THEY ONLY SPRAYED RUSTED INHIBITOR PAINT ON FRAME. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. BROUGHT TRUCK INTO LOCAL INDEPENDENT SHOP. THEY SAID BRAKE LINE TO REAR DRUM BRAKES SHOOK LOSE, DUE TO FRAME RUSTING/CORROSION AWAY FROM SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNT. THEY ALSO STATED TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE FRAME AND CROSSMEMBER SUPPORTS ARE CORRODED AND RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR. CALLED BURNSVILLE TOYOTA AND THEY SAID, THAT THE RECALL 3 YEAR WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO HELP. THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND BODY ARE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE. DISAPPOINTED THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT OFFER TO HELP WITH THERE DESIGNED ERROR IN FRAME.
WHILE DRIVING ON STATE ROAD 27, I STARTING SMELLING FUEL IN THE CABIN; WHEN I GET TO MY DESTINATION, ABOUT 7 MILES AFTER, I CAME OUT WITH THE TRUCK STILL RUNNING, NOTICE A LOT OF FUEL UNDER THE TRUCK, I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY AND THE FLOW OF FUEL GRADUALLY STOPPED.
STRUCTURE. 220,000 MILES I TOOL IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE THE TECH CALLS ME OVER TO SHOW ME THE ROTTED FRAME MEMBER'S. I TOOK IT TO TARBOX TOYOTA IN RI, THEY TOOK PICS AND SENT IT TO TOYOTA. THEY ALSO TOLD ME I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA SAID NO OUTSTANDING RECALL ON IT SO I AM OUT OF LUCK. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALL EXCEPT FOR THE ONE LISTED TO REPLACE A REAR CHASSIS MEMBER WHICH I HAD DONE. THE KILLER IS I HAVE PUT $5000 INTO IT OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS THINKING I WOULD HAVE THE TRUCK FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS...ITS ONLY USED OCCASIONALLY. NOW WHAT DO I DO?
THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER/HOIST RUSTED CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO FALL OFF THE TRUCK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
IN 2012, MY FRAME WAS RECALLED FOR RUST. TOYOTA APPLIED A CORROSION RESISTANT SPRAY COMPOUND. IT DID NOT WORK. NOW I HAVE RUST HOLES COMING FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
THE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING IS RUSTED SO BAD THAT OIL IS SEEPING THROUGH RUST PITS. THE FRAME IS ALSO RUSTED AND HAD TO HAVE IT WELDED. ALSO LOST THE SPARE TIRE DUE TO RUST.
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2017 AND WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL WAS BEGINNING TO LEAK DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. FURTHER INSPECTION OF UNDERCARRIAGE DO TO A NOISE UNDER VEHICLE FOUND THAT THE FRAME AND BODY MOUNT HAD DETERIORATED DUE TO RUST CAUSING A HOLE IN THE BODY MOUNT CAUSING THE CAB TO FLEX AND BOUNCE ON THE FRAME. VEHICLE TREATED BY TOYOTA FOR EARLIER RECALL DUE TO RUST OF THE FRAME AND GIVEN A 5YR EXTENDED WARRANTY. BODY OF VEHICLE IS FREE OF RUST, FRAME AND DIFFERENTIAL HAVE EXCESSIVE RUST MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE MAIN FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED WITH HOLES. WHILE CHANGING THE BRAKES, A LARGE PIECE OF THE FRAME FELL ONTO THE GROUND. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE FRAME REPLACEMENT WARRANTY EXPIRED ON JUNE 1, 2017. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 1708210712. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300,000.
MY TUNDRA WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH CRITICAL FRAME DAMAGE THAT WILL NOT PASS PA. STATE INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY TOYOTA FOR MOST OF IT,S LIFE AND ALL FRAME RECALLS WERE COMPLETED. THE TRUCK HAS 136,078 MILES AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. MY RECENT CLAIM WITH TOYOTA WAS REJECTED BASED ON THE THEIR INTERRUPTATION THAT ALL REQUIRED RECALLS WERE DONE AND THERE IS NOTHING TOYOTA CAN DUE FOR ME. THERE ARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH TOYOTAS RESPONSE. THE FIRST BEGINNING THAT WHEN I PICKED THE TRUCK UP AFTER THE FRAME RECALL TREATMENT I ASKED THE TECH HOW THE FRAME LOOKED, HE SAID GOOD BUT THERE IS A SEPARATION STARTING AT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING. THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE MY PROBLEM LIES TODAY. I BELIEVE TOYOTA COVERED UP THE PROBLEM BY TREATING THE FRAMES RATHER THEN REPLACING THEM IN AN ATTEMPT TO SAVE MONEY. HOW MANY VEHICLES COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY WERE TREATED IN THE SAME MANNER AND ARE STILL CURRENTLY DRIVING ON THE ROADS TODAY? HOW MANY OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES NOW POSE A PROBLEM TO ALL MOTORIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (MARTINEZ BODY SHOP IN BELTON, MISSOURI) FOR HEADLIGHT REPAIRS AND THE MECHANIC NOTICED SEVERE RUST ON THE ENTIRE FRAME. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTIFICATION IN 2014. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MILLEY TOYOTA IN CANTON, MISSOURI FOR AN EVALUATION AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFECTLY FINE AND THERE WAS NO RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 5 ON MY WAY TO WORK AT 70MPH AND AS I WAS ON THE CAUSEWAY THE LOWER BALL JOINT CAME OFF CAUSING MY FRONT TIRE TO COME OFF AND IT RESULTED IN A CRASH THAT TOTALLED MY TRUCK AND DAMAGE TO ME AS WELL .

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS DETECTED COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HUBERT VESTER TOYOTA (3712 RALEIGH RD PKWY W, WILSON, NC 27896, (252) 291-5300). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT PROVIDING A DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ALARM SYSTEM WAS INTERFERING WITH THE IGNITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V444000 (STRUCTURE) DUE TO THE VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS, AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1706013050. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A ROAD ~35 MPH WHEN MY REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LOCKED UP CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ABRUPTLY COME TO A STOP.
TOYOTA HAS A RECALL ON THE TRUCK FRAME THAT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY 70000 MILES ON IT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US TO CALL TOYOTA. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND OPENED A CLAIM AND THEY TOLD US THERE NOT DOING ANYTHING AT THIS TIME FOR THAT RECALL. THE WHOLE FRAME IS ROTTEN AND IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. WE'VE DONE ALL THE RECALLS THEY HAD FOR THE FRAME AND IT STILL ROTTED OUT. NOT SURE HOW I CAN GET THIS RESOLVED WITH TOYOTA. THE FRAME SNAPPED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE FRAME SNAPPED WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN.
MY 02 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR ITS FRAME AND CROSSMEMBERS RUSTING OUT AND CAUSING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN A COUPLE YEARS AGO FOR THE RECALL. THE TRUCK HAD VERY LOW MILES FOR THE YEAR UNDER 60K AND WAS TAKEN GOOD CARE OF. THE DEALER DEEMED THE FRAME WAS NOT RUSTED THROUGH ENOUGH TO WARRANT A COMPLETE NEW FRAME. INSTEAD THEY SPRAYED MY FRAME WITH SOME RUST PROOF PAINT. WELL THAT BAND AIDE HAS ALMOST ALL FALLEN OFF AND THE FRAME IS WORSE THAN EVER WITH CROSS MEMBERS RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I CONTACTED TOYOTA HQTS AND AFTER BEING BOUNCED AROUND FOR OVER AN HOUR WAS TOLD BY A SUPERVISOR THAT I AM OUT OF LUCK BECAUSE THEY PLACED A YEAR WARRANTY ON THE PAINT JOB. ANY PROBLEMS OVER A YEAR PAST THE WARRANTY WORK IS THE CONSUMERS PROBLEM. WELL THE PAINT HELD FOR A BIT BUT ULTIMATELY DID NOT RESOLVE THE UNDERLYING RUST PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO FOLLOW UP WITH THE DEALER THAT HAD DONE THE WARRANTY WORK. THEY INSPECTED THE FRAME AND TOOK PICTURES TO SEND TO TOYOTA, BUT ULTIMATELY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AT THIS TIME. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY RESOLUTION WITH THE ISSUE. MY MAIN ISSUE IS THAT THEY THINK SPRAYING AN UNDERCOAT ON A RUSTED FRAME IS GOING TO RESOLVE THE RUST ISSUE WHEN IN FACT IT WAS A BAND AIDE THAT HAS HIDDEN WHAT WAS MANIFESTING UNDERNEATH AND ULTIMATELY DESTROYING A VERY GREAT VEHICLE. TOYOTA HAS NOT HELD UP THEIR END IN STANDING BEHIND WHAT IT SELLS AND BEHIND RESOLVING MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEMS FOR ITS CONSTOMERS.
VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR FRAME RUST. IT WAS RECORDED IN 2012 THAT THE FRAME WAS COATED WITH CRC TO PREVENT /STOP THE RUST. HAD IT INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND FOUND THE FRAME HAD RUSTED AROUND THE REAR LEAF SPRING AND WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN WITH THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA CANNOT VERIFY HOW LONG THIS CRC COATING WOULD LAST. IS THIS A JUST A FIX TO SHOW THAT TOYOTA HAS FULFILLED ITS OBLIGATION AS REQUIRED BY NHTSA?
TRUCK INSPECTED BY TOYOTA FOR CORROSION AND TREATED WITH CHEMICAL AS PART OF THE RECALL NOTICE.AT THIS TIME I HAD NO CONCERNS WITH CONDITION OF THE FRAME FOR SAFETY CONCERNS.MY TRUCK WAS TREATED 10/24/16 BY TOYOTA AND DURING A ROUTINE EXHAUST FIX MECHANIC SHOWED ME AREAS OF CONCERN ON REAR OF THE FRAME.THE DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE TREATMENT LOOKED AT THE FRAME AGAIN AND STATED THEY DIIDNT WANT TO TOUCH OR CHECK THE AREAS OF CONCERN A INCASE THEY MADE HOLES IN THE FRAME.I OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA AND INDEED GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHOM DEEMED MY VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO FRAME CORROSION IN THE AREAS THAT WERE TREATED , NOW THIS WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS AFTER TOYOTA TREATED THE FRAME. I WAS GIVEN A CASE MANAGER AT TOYOTA FOR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES AS HE QUOTED, AND 2 DAYS LATER WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE. I ALSO HAVE A GAS LEAK WHICH HAS MATERIALIZED AROUND THE ROTTED CROSSMEMBER . OVERALL IN 3 MONTHS I NOW HAVE PERORATIONS AND DELAMINATION OF THE REAR FRAME AND A JUNK TRUCK.
REAR FRAME CROSSMEMBER RUSTED THROUGH AND HOLES IN FRONT FRAME. IN 2011 THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS. FEB,15, 2011 I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THEY INSPECTED THE FRAME AND SPRAYED UNDERCOATING ON IT. IT WAS NOT A SUFFICIENT FIX. TOYOTA REFUSES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL TOYOTA DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT OUR 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS A FACTORY FAULTY AIRBAG/ SEATBELT SYSTEM, AND SAY THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR OUR VEHICLE, AND THAT WE HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT. THE SEAT BELT IS ALWAYS LOOSE, THERE IS A PERMANENT LIT LIGHT RELATED TO THE AIRBAG.
FRAME IS RUSTING BADLY EVEN AFTER TOYOTA SPRAYED CRC TO TRY TO PREVENT RUST.
THE HEADREST ON THE FRONT SEATS ARE TOO SHORT. I AM 6'6" TALL. AT TALLEST EXTENSION, THE HEAD REST PRESSES AGAINST THE TOP OF MY SPINE, BELOW MY HEAD. I FEAR A BROKEN NECK AND HEAD INJURIES IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. I PRESENTED THIS QUESTION TO TOYOTA ENGINEERS SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND THEY WERE INDIFFERENT.
