TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 52 MPH THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE WHEEL ASSEMBLY AND DRIVE TRAIN WERE ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. HE WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS INCLUDED IN RECALL #07V013000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT). HE FILED A COMPLAINT, AND THE CASE# IS 0910124225. HE WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
STARTED TRUCK, CONNECTED SMALL TRAILER TO HITCH. I NOTICED LIGHTS ON TRAILER NOT ON GOT OUT OF TRUCK TO PLUG AND UNPLUG CONNECTOR. LIGHTS CAME ON. ENTERED TRUCK , PUT FOOT ON BRAKE TO PUT IN GEAR. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE TACH. WAS FLUCTUATING BETWEEN 1000 AND 6500 RPM WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. I TURNED THE IGNITION TO THE OFF POSITION. SCARED TO RESTART, I LET IT SIT FOR FIVE MINUTES THEN STARTED ENGINE. EVERYTHING RAN NORMAL AND I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME. THIS HAD NEVER OCCURRED BEFORE OR SINCE THIS INCIDENT. I DID NOT REPORT THIS TO TOYOTA SINCE THE RECALL MODELS WERE OTHER THAN MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA . *TR
FRAME RUST. *TR
2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB HAD SEVERE RUSTING WHICH CAUSED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE AND PIN ATTACHMENTS TO BREAK. WHEN THE DEALER FIXED THE BRAKE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY VERY RUSTED PARTS WHICH THEN LED ME TO DISCOVER THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME OF THE TRUCK IS HEAVILY RUSTED. DEALER CALLED IT FLAKING. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THE DEALER WAS INSTRUCTED TO INSPECT THE TRUCK AND SEND RESULTS TO TOYOTA. THEY NOW CALL IT SURFACE RUST. I ASKED THE DEALER TO PUT IN WRITING THAT THE TRUCK WAS SAFE BUT THEY DID NOT. I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT WITH THE FRAME, BOLTS, NUTS AND JOINTS SO RUSTY IT WILL SOON BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER TUNDRA'S THE SAME AGE AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE APPEARS TO HAVE AN UNDERCOATING THAT I DO NOT. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THE ANSWER THAT TOYOTA HAS GIVEN ME WHICH STATES THAT IT IS ONLY SURFACE RUST. *TR
2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB SR5 WITH 54000 MILES- FRONT SWAYBAR LINKS BREAKING. I JUST BROUGHT MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND BOTH FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS ARE BROKEN. LOOKING ON A COUPLE OF SITES, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. THE TRUCK IS FACTORY ORIGINAL AND IS A PERSONAL VEHICLE, NOT USED FOR OFF ROAD TRAVEL. *TR
MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB HAS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE. BECAUSE OF THIS RUST, THE CAMBER BOLTS CANNOT BE REMOVED TO PROPERLY ALIGN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO USE HEAT TO REMOVE THEM, ALONG WITH A LOT OF FORCE, AND IN TURN MAY DO FRAME DAMAGE IN THE PROCESS. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED BY MY DEALER $5,200 TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH INITIALLY STARTED WITH A SMALL SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH GREW INTO A BIG SHIMMY ESPECIALLY WHILE TOWING. THAT QUOTE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY POSSIBLE CHARGED FROM THE BODY SHOP IF DAMAGE TO THE FRAME SHOULD OCCUR. I DO NOT HAVE $5,200 SO I ENDED UP WITH A NEW SET OF TIRES AND HALF OF AN ALIGNMENT BECAUSE THE CAMBER BOLTS WERE NOT ABLE TO BE REMOVED. HERE I AM MONTHS LATER AND MY NEW TIRES ARE SO BALD ON THE FRONT THAT I AM ACTUALLY SEEING THE TREAD SHOWING THROUGH. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED MY TUNDRA, BUT ALL OF THIS RUST ON THE FRAME AND UNDERCARRIAGE IS VERY CONCERNING REGARDING THE LONGEVITY OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTAS LAST FOREVER. AT THIS POINT I FEEL THAT MY TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO EVEN DRIVE BUT IT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED AND MAINTAINED MANY VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD RUST ISSUES LIKE THIS, NOR HAVE I EVER BEEN FACED WITH SUCH A COSTLY REPAIR ON A NOT SO OLD VEHICLE. I AM STUCK IN A BAD PLACE AND JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO OR WHAT TO DO. I DESPERATELY NEED MY TRUCK. WITHOUT IT I LOSE MY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION AS WELL AS MY ABILITY TO EARN A LIVING. I JUST SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD... MEANING I JUST DO NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY TO BRING MY TRUCK BACK TO HEALTH. ALL OF THIS STRESS AND FRUSTRATION IS A RESULT OF THIS EXCESSIVE RUST. INCLUDED IN THE ESTIMATE IS REMOVE AND REPLACE CAMBER BOLTS $1,957 --- STEERING RACK BOOTS 400.00 ALIGNMENT 90.00---- DRIVESHAFT ASSEMBLY $2,003---- REAR U-JOINT $433.00---- DIFFERENTIAL FLUID $330.00 IT DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE FRAME/BODY IN THEIR ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE CAMBER BOLTS OR ANOTHER BRAND NEW SET OF TIRES. *TR
THE 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA THAT I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE BOTH FRONT ROTORS REPLACED DUE TO WARPING AND SERIOUS VIBRATIONS DURING BRAKING. I RESEARCHED THIS ON THE TOYOTA FORUMS AND ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE THAT MANY OF US OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT TO TOYOTA. TOYOTA HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE AS THE ROTORS WERE MADE TO SMALL FOR THE SIZE AND WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED. VIBRATIONS. THE GLASS ON THE SUNROOF OF MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA CAME LOOSE. *TR
VEHICLE FRAME AND UNDERCARRIAGE SEEMS TO HAVE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST AND DETERIORATION. AS I PERFORM MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE, I AM REPLACING RUSTED PARTS INCLUDING BOLTS, DRAIN PLUGS AS WELL AS SPRAYING THE UNDERCARRIAGE WITH WD-40, 3M UNDERCOATING SPRAY AND CORROSION STOP. THIS ISSUE IS AN ON-GOING FIGHT TO KEEP THE RUST AT BAY. *TR
THE BRAKES FAILED TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GAIN IN SPEED AS I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND TRIED TO NAVIGATE A LEFT TURN AT 70+ MPH. WITH THE REAR END HOPPING SOMEHOW I NEGOTIATED THE TURN BUT COULD NOT TURN AGAIN. I CROSSED THE NEXT STREET AND ENDED UP GOING THRU THE WALL OF AN APARTMENT BUILDING AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LIVING ROOM. IT WAS ONLY GOD'S DESIGN FOR ME NOT TO DIE THIS DAY. HAD I NOT MADE THE FIRST TURN I WAS GOING TO RUN INTO A SMALL GROVE OF MATURE TREES. ALSO, IF ANY OTHER CARS HAD BEEN ON THE STREET I COULD NOT HAVE AVOIDED THEM. LUCKILY THE SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 SMALL CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE LIVING ROOM. *TR
RUST ON EVERYTHING UNDER THE TRUCK AS WELL AS THE REAR BUMPER. PARTS THAT HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF RUST AND/OR RUST PERFORATION OR NEED TO BE REPLACED: 1) ENTIRE FRAME ' PERFORATION GREATER THAN 10MM FOUND ON PASSENGER SIDERAIL 2) REAR DIFFERENTIAL (LEAKING FROM RUST PERFORATION) 3) BRAKE LINES 4) POWER STEERING LINE (LEAKING FROM RUST) 5) SKID PLATE (SUPPORT BRACKETS RUSTED - FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING) 6) BRAKE CALIPERS (MULTIPLE TIMES) 7) COIL SPRINGS 8) AXLES (FRONT AND BACK) 9) CONTROL ARMS 10) CV- JOINT 11) BOOTS 12) HITCH RECEIVER 13) EXHAUST 14) MUFFLER 15) CAMBER BOLT 16) MULTIPLE SETS OF TIRES (UNABLE TO ALIGN TIRES PROPERLY DUE TO RUSTED/SEIZED CAMBER BOLT) CAUSING PREMATURE TREAD WEAR. 17) BRAKE DRUMS (WARPED AND PITTED) 18) WHEEL BEARING 19) TRUCK TAILGATE SUPPORT WIRES ' WIRES RUSTED AND BROKE. TAILGATE WON'T OPEN/CLOSE WITHOUT EXTREME EFFORT BECAUSE IT IS NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY. 20) SHOCKS/STRUTS 21) SEALS, BRACKETS, NUTS AND BOLTS - THE PARTS LISTED ABOVE IS NOT COMPLETE. BASICALLY, EVERYTHING YOU SEE UNDER THE TRUCK IS SUFFERING FROM EXTREME RUST AND/OR PERFORATED. *TRUCK HAS HAD A HORRIBLE SHIMMY FOR YEARS THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT, PARTICULARLY BAD WHEN TOWING. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE TRUCK. IMPROVED SLIGHTLY WHEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND AXLES WERE REPLACED. MOST LIKELY RELATED TO FRAME WARP OR INSTABILITY. *TRUCK HAS HAD ISSUES WITH GETTING IN AND OUT OF 4WD. INCONSISTENT WITH HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET IN AND OUT OF 4WD. THERE IS A LOUD AND JARRING CLUNK WHEN ENGAGING OR DISENGAGING 4WD. *TRUCK FEELS LIKE IT IS ON THE VERGE OF GOING OUT OF CONTROL WHEN A HOLE OR BUMP IS HIT. THE TRUCK WILL LITERALLY JUMP SIDEWAYS. *TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL COMES ON RANDOMLY WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR HOLE. ANOTHER MYSTERY TO MECHANIC. *TR
ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL ENGAGES WHEN WE HIT A BUMP OR POTHOLE. NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. POWER STEERING FLUID LINE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE RUST CAUSING IT TO LEAK. THIS PART ALONE COST OVER 600.00. PREMATURE TIRE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF THE INABILITY TO ALIGN PROPERLY DUE TO EXTREMELY RUSTED COMPONENTS THAT COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED PROPERLY. HORRIBLE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY WHEN ON FREEWAY THAT ALSO CANNOT BE EXPLAINED OR FIXED (EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND AXLE) TRUCK IS EXTREMELY "SQUIRRELLY" AND FEELS LIKE IT CAN GO OUT OF CONTROL, ESPECIALLY AFTER HITTING A HOLE OR BUMP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT SWERVED TO AVOID AN ANIMAL IN THE ROAD. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A DITCH AND TURNED OVER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED AN INJURY TO HIS BACK. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THEY FILED A REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 92,00 UPDATED 09/15/08 *BF. UPDATED 09/18/08. *JB
THERE ARE TWO CABLES THAT HOLD THE TAILGATE IN PLACE WHEN FULLY OPENED(EXTENDED). YESTERDAY(7/17/08) WHILE UNLOADING MY MOTORCYCLE, BOTH CABLES BROKE SIMULTANEOUSLY MID WAY THROUGH THE UNLOADING PROCESS. THE CABLES BROKE AT THE EXACT SAME PLACE WHICH WAS EXACTLY HALF WAY FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER. THE CABLE IS ENCLOSED IN A PLASTIC SLEEVE. THAT SLEEVE IS NOT SEALED AT EACH END. WHEN THE TAILGATE IS IN THE CLOSED POSITION, WHICH IS MOST OF THE TIME, RAIN OR OTHER MOISTURE COLLECTS IN THE PLASTIC ENCLOSURE AND SETTLES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE "U" SHAPED TUBE. OVER TIME THAT MOISTURE HAS CAUSED THE CABLES TO RUST AND WEAKEN THUS THE BREAK IN MY OPINION. THE RESULT OF THE BRAKE WAS THAT THE TAILGATE FEEL UNANNOUNCED TO THE TOP OF THE BUMPER THUS DENTING THE BUMPER AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING HARM TO THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WAS DOING THE UNLOADING. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A FLAWED PRODUCT. *TR
2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA LEAKS GEAR OIL FROM REAR DIFFERENTIAL COVER PLATE. COVER PLATE IS SO THIN A PIN HOLE DEVELOPED. COVER PLATE IS PRESSED ON SO IN ORDER TO CORRECT PROBLEM, A WHOLE NEW REAR AXLE IS NEEDED ACCORDING TO DEALER. WHEN I BROUGHT TRUCK INTO DEALER, DEALER TOLD ME HE SEEN 6 OF THESE LIKE THIS ALREADY. METAL PLATE IS TOO THIN AND DOESN'T HOLD UP TO WINTERS IN NEW YORK AND IS RUSTING OUT DUE TO METAL BEING TOO THIN. COST FOR REPAIR IS $3500 . WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA, THEY JUST SAID THERE ISN'T ANY RECALLS ON THIS SUBJECT YET. THEY DID RECALL TOYOTA TACOMAS DUE TO RUST EATING OUT THE FRAMES BUT NO RECALLS ON REAR DIFFERENTIAL COVER PLATE. IF GEAR OIL FOR REAR DIFFERENTIAL LEAKS OUT, DUE TO METAL FATIGUE, TRUCK IS NOT DRIVABLE AND HEAT CAUSED BY FRICTION OF GEARS COULD CAUSE A FIRE. *TR
EXTENSIVE RUST IS LOCATED ON THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. THIS 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS BUILT ON THE TOYOTA TACOMA FRAMES BEFORE TOYOTA MADE THE LARGER TUNDRA AND FRAMES. IT'S THEREFORE LIKELY THAT THE SAME EXTENSIVE RUST RECALL FOR THE PREVIOUS YEARS TACOMA'S SHOULD EXTEND TO THE TUNDRA'S THAT WERE ONCE BUILT ON THESE FRAMES. SINCE THE DELIVERY DATE ON THIS TRUCK IS DECEMBER 31, 2003, IT IS BELIEVED THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED UNDER THE SAME PREMISE. THE PICTURES FROM THE RECALLED TACOMA FRAMES LOOK VERY, VERY SIMILAR AND THERE SHOULD BE A CHECK ON WHETHER OR NOT THIS 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA FRAME HAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. *TR
EVENT WAS THE GEAR LEVER BECAME LOOSER AND LOOSER. IT RESULTED IN THE GEAR NOT BEING ABLE TO GO INTO PARK. TRUCK WOULD NOT START. IT APPEARED TO BE IN PARK AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY. AAA REPLACED BATTERY. IT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. CREATIVE GEAR MANIPULATION ALLOWED TRUCK TO START. REPAIR DISCOVERED A CRACKED STEERING COLUMN! *TR
FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR DESIGN CAUSES WINDOWS TO RATTLE VIOLENTLY POTENTIALLY LEADING TO SHATTERING. *TR
2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH 44000 MILES HAS DEVELOPED A BRAKE PROBLEM. AIR REPEATEDLY GETS INTO THE BRAKE LINES WITH NO LOSS OF FLUID CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN BRAKING. THE TUNDRA HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR FOUR MONTHS TRYING TO BE REPAIRED, THE TOYOTA REP HAS VISITED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, CALLED THE FACTORY ENGINEERS AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED! REPAIRS COST TO DATE ARE OVER $3500, TOYOTA PICKED UP $2,000 LEAVING ME OUT OF POCKET $1500+ AND A TRUCK THAT HAS A DEFECTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT MUST BE BLED EVERY 75 MILES TO REMAIN DRIVABLE. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN MID JANUARY 2008. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINT RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE OF 2007. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR AND WOULD HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH FOR THEM TO ARRIVE. A MONTH LATER HE CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL UNAVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD CALL HIM WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. MONTHS PASSED AND THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BALL JOINTS BECAME LOOSE AND HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP, IT WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 87,000. UPDATED 12-12-07. *KB UPDATED.
2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA RECALL FOR FRONT BALL JOINTS--2006 RECEIVED NOTICE AND TOOK TO DEALER IN BOZEMAN, MT TO CHECK...WE WERE TOLD OUR TRUCK WASN'T PART OF RECALL....MONTHS LATER, RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE...CALLED AND EMAILED DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT RETURN CALLS OR EMAILS. OCTOBER 2007 FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL "BROKE" WHILE DRIVING AND WE WRECKED. DEALER IN LARAMIE, WY STATED THAT "YES, YOUR TRUCK WAS PART OF THE RECALL AND THIS WAS DUE TO FRONT BALL JOINT FAILURE." LUCKILY WE WERE ONLY DRIVING 10MPH, BUT IF WE HAD BEEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, WE WOULD HAVE ROLLED. *TR
FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTORS SUBJECT TO REPEATED WARPING CAUSING FRONT WHEEL TO VIBRATE WHEN BRAKING AND MAKING THE VEHICLE HARD TO CONTROL. *TR
OVER THREE MONTHS AGO, I CALLED DAVID MAUS TOYOTA IN SANFORD TO GET THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA PER RECALL SSC 70B. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT DID. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM YET AND THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS. THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK IS ACTING UN-STABLE AT THIS TIME AND I FEAR THAT I MIGHT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT IN THIS CONDITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE. SHE WOULD ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE YET THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND BEFORE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE THROTTLE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE THROTTLE WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME AT A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE THROTTLE WAS REPLACED A THIRD TIME YET IT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THAT THERE WAS WATER LEAKING INTO THE CONNECTOR THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD GLASS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE STALLING AND THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,484 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,556.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOR THE FRONT BALL JOINTS. I HAVE CALLED 3 TIMES AND EACH TIME MY NAME IS SUPPOSEDLY PLACED ON A LIST TO CALL AS SOON AS THE PART ARRIVES. WELL, 90 DAYS LATER I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM ANYONE. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER TODAY AND WAS TOLD MY INFORMATION WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN DOWN AND THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PART ARRIVED, I ESCALATED AND SPOKE TO THE MANAGER TO SAID THE PART WAS IN BUT IT COULD ONLY BE INSTALLED ON 7/25/07, NO OTHER DAY OF THE WEEK WOULD WORK SINCE HIS STAFF IS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL? I GUESS THEY JUST EXPECT ME TO QUIT MY JOB IN AN EFFORT TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I ALSO ESCALATED THIS ISSUE TO THE MANAGER OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT LAKE NORMAN DEALERSHIP WHERE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED. THEY KEPT TRANSFERRING ME TO SERVICE DEPT THEN TO PARTS, AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, I ASKED IF THEY WOULD EVEN HONOR THE RECALL NOTICE AND THEY SAID YES, BUT I HAVE TO BE TRANSFERRED AGAIN, NO ONE EVER ANSWERED. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS WAY TO LONG AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY TOYOTA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO THE VEHICLE AND THIS WASN'T MY FAULT, I WISH SOMEONE COULD HELP! I HAVE CONTACTED THE TOYOTA CORPORATE HQ, BUT WAS TOLD THAT MY TUNDRA WAS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE 775,000 OTHER TUNDRAS THAT WERE RECALLED FOR FAULTY LOWER BALL JOINTS. AS OF THIS TIME, THE DEFECTIVE PARTS ARE STILL ON THE VEHICLE AT LONGO. *NM
