FAILURE OF LOWER BALL JOINT ON RIGHT SIDE CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL AFTER WHEEL FELL UNDER VEHICLE, 4 WEEKS LATER LEFT BALL JOINT FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AFTER WHEEL FELL UNDER VEHICLE. BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED. MANUFACTURER STATES THAT THIS YEAR VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER A RECALL AND HAS NO PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE SQUEAKING NOISE. AFTERWARDS, WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH ON A DRIVEWAY, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE TO SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO AWAIT FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCK SHAKES UNDER BRAKING. DURING BRAKE SERVICE REAR BRAKE DRUMS FOUND TO BE WARPED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TOWED OFF THE ROAD AND TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V225000, REGARDING THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. UPDATED 12/18/2006 - *NM
FAILURE OF LOWER BALL JOINT LEFT FRONT WHEEL. UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS BOTH FAILED AND SEPARATED RESULTING IN FRONT WHEEL FALLING OFF AD LODGING UNDER FRAME OF TRUCK. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELT IN THE LEFT REAR SEAT HAD TIGHTENED, AND LOCKED, CAUSING WELTS ACROSS THE PASSENGER'S STOMACH. NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS SOUGHT. AS THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT RELEASE, THE SEATBELT WAS CUT, TO RELEASE THE PASSENGER. THE SERVICE DEALER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE SEATBELT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS AND PRIOR TO MAKING SHARP TURNS, THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. ALSO, AFTER MAKING SHARP TURNS, THERE WAS DIFFICULTY IN THE RETURN MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS DEFECT WAS OF A PERMANENT NATURE. DURING ALL TURNS, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE MEDIAN OR TO THE DIRECTION OF HOW IT WAS BEING TURNED. THERE WAS NO WARNING SIGNALS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE WORN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA RECALL #05V225000 REGARDING SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM: LOWER BALL JOINT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED. UPDATED 01/10/07. *JB
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR, ON A STATE HIGHWAY, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SUDDENLY CAME OFF. THE LOWER BALL JOINT HAD FAILED. VEHICLE HAS 27,000 MILES. ACCORDING TO TOYOTA COMPANY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2005 RECALL SINCE ITS SERIAL NUMBER WAS "OUTSIDE THE SERIES OF NUMBERS RECALLED.". *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE DISLOCATED FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS DETERMINED THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS FRACTURED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN THE CITY, A NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL DROPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO MOVE OFF THE ROAD AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE RIGHT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT FRACTURED. THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED BOTH FRONT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS AND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. UPDATED 11/20/2006 - THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE BALL JOINT BUT THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *NM
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE AXEL ON MY TOYOTA TUNDRA BROKE AND THE ENTIRE RIGHT FRONT END FELL OFF AND I HAD TO STEER OUT OF TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. APPARENTLY, THIS TRUCK WAS RECALLED DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE FRONT END SUSPENSION PARTS AND I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND CALLED THE HOTLINE AND NOW THEY WANT TO DRAG THEIR FEET IN GETTING THIS TRUCK REPAIRED. I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE AND NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH A SLOW RESOLUTION TO A PROBLEM CAUSED BY TOYOTA. WHAT CAN I DO? *NM
THIS IS A SECOND COMPLIANT. THE FIRST COMPLIANT DID NOT HAVE THE CORRECT HOME ADDRESS. THE P.O. BOX IS MY MAILING ADDRESS. ON 2/24/06 ANTIOCH TOYOTA DELIVERED A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA TO MY HOME. THE FIRST COMPLIANT NUMBER IS #10169458 MOST OF THE INFO IS THE SAME ACCEPT THE ADDRESS TO WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED. THE SUSPENSION:FRONT CONTROL ARM LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE AND THE AXLE ON MY TRUCK SNAPPED AND BROKE. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO ALMADEN TOYOTA IN SAN JOSE CA AND THAT IS WHERE IT IS NOW. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME TODAY THAT THIS TRUCK WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS RECALLED ACCORDING TO THEIR RECORDS, BUT THEY WILL HAVE SOMEONE COME OUT AND INSPECT THE TRUCK. HOW DID IT BREAK IF THE PART WAS NOT BAD? THE RECALL DOES NOT LIST VIN NUMBERS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL, ONLY MODEL NAMES: 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA AND MY TRUCK IS A 4DR DOUBLE CAB LIMITED RWD SB (4.7L 8 CYL 4A). IT SEEMS TO ME THEY ARE TRYING TO GET OUT OF REPAIRING/REPLACING MY TRUCK WHEN THE AXLE BROKE WHILE DRIVING IT TO WORK. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. ON JULY 31, 2006 THE LOWER BALL JOINTS FELL OFF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHILE PARKING. A MONTH LATER IN SEPTEMBER 2006THE LOWER BALL JOINTS FELL OFF THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE TIRE WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN. THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPAIRED, AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE SAFETY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT MAILED ALL OF THE NECESSARY INFORMATION TO BE REIMBURSED IN OCTOBER 2006 TO THE MANUFACTURER AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE TO DATE. *AK
I AM A TOYOTA FANATIC BUT I AM CONCERN ABOUT THE FAILURE OF THE BALL JOINT OF MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. ON 9/6/2006 WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROADWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE BALL JOINT OF MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA COLLAPSE CAUSING MY VEHICLE'S FRONT END TO DRAG ON THE ROADWAY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR SERVICE THREE WEEKS PRIOR FOR AN OIL CHANGE. ON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP I FELT A DIFFERENCE IN THE FRONT END, ON CHECKING MY TIRE PRESSURE I FOUND IT TO BE AT 35 PSI. THINKING THIS WAS THE PROBLEM I REDUCED IT TO 32 PSI. CONTINUING MY DRIVE FOR AN ADDITIONAL HOUR OR SO I REALIZED THAT THE REDUCTION IN PRESSURE WHILE IT MADE A DIFFERENCE THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. I RETURNED TO MY DEALERSHIP AFTER MY WEEKEND TRIP AND INFORMED THEM OF THE DIFFERENCE IN THE FEEL AND SOUND OF MY TUNDRA. THEY INSPECTED IT AND TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THE TECHNICIAN DID TO THE VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE DIFFERENCE IN THE FEEL AND SOUND OF MY VEHICLE. I AM CURRENTLY IN CONTACT WITH TOYOTA AMERICA AND THE DEALERSHIP HOPING TO BRING ABOUT AN AMICABLE RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, THEY INDICATED THAT MY 2004 TUNDRA WAS NOT PART OF THE BALL JOINT RECALL CAMPAIGN.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE PADS WORE OUT WITH EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE ON 7 OCCASIONS. THE ROTORS ALSO REQUIRED REPLACEMENT DUE TO PREMATURE FAILURE. THE SERVICE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED, THE STEERING BEGAN TO FAIL WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH., IN DRY, CLEAR CONDITIONS ON THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SLOWED TO 15 MPH. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL FELL OFF DISLOCATING THE AXLE. WHEN TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEALER, THE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINT HAD FRACTURED AND THE UPPER BALL JOINT HAD BEEN DAMAGED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. UPDATED 05/21/07 *TR
I HAVE A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. I HAVE INCREASED STEERING EFFORT IN THE STEERING AND MY TIRES HAVE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE OUTSIDE. THE TIRES HAVE NO THREAD ON THE OUTSIDE. I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 18,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD IT ALIGNED AND IT HASN'T DONE ANY GOOD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS WRITTEN TOYOTA THEMSELVES. THE TOYOTA CORPORATION SAID THAT THERE IS A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP ITSELF SAID THAT IT IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS AND LOWER SUSPENSION. THEY WANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STOPPING DISTANCE EXTENDED WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKES. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKES AGAIN. AS OF DECEMBER 26, 2007, THE FAILURE HAD NOT RECURRED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE SLACK ADJUSTER CAUSED THE FAILURE, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SLACK ADJUSTER WAS FINE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THERE WAS A RECALL # 05V225000 REGARDING THE BALL JOINTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 11/21/06. *JB
WE RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR RECALL FOR ALL TOYOTA TUNDRAS BETWEEN THE YEAR 2002 TO 2004 BECAUSE OF FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINT (SSC50J). BECAUSE OF THE RECALL, WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND WENT TO THE SERVICE LOCATION GIVEN IN THE NOTICE. THE APPOINTMENTS FOR BOTH WERE MADE AND USING OUR VIN NUMBER TOLD US THAT BOTH OUR TRUCKS DON'T NEED SERVICING AND SO DISMISSED BOTH, IN FLORIDA AND NEW YORK. ON FRIDAY, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK IN NEW YORK AND WAS ABOUT TO ENTER A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN THE TIRE FELL OUT. WE ARE INCLINED TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS THE RESULT OF A DEFECTIVE PART PUT IN BY THE MANUFACTURER. BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STEER AWAY FROM A MAJOR COLLISION. BASICALLY WE WERE VERY LUCKY THIS TIME. IMAGINE IF IT WERE SOMEONE, MYSELF INCLUDED, WITH LESS EXPERIENCE WHO HAPPENED TO BE DRIVING, OR IF MY HUSBAND HAD ALREADY ENTERED THE HIGHWAY. ANYWAY WE TOWED THE TRUCK TO OUR PERSONAL SERVICE MECHANIC, WHO CHARGED US $70 FOR THE TOW. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THE FRONT BALL JOINT CAME OUT AND SO THE TIRE CAME OFF. THE TIRE WING AND THE LINE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE INCIDENT. FORTUNATELY, THAT WAS ALL. THE NOTICE GAVE A PHONE NUMBER, 888.270.9371, WHICH WE CALLED. WHEN WE GAVE THEM OUR VIN NUMBER, THEY TOLD US THAT OUR TRUCKS WERE NOT INCLUDED FOR SERVICE PER THE RECALL, SO THEY WILL NOT SERVICE OUR TRUCKS. SO FAR, OUR TRUCK IN FLORIDA DID NOT HAVE THE SAME ACCIDENT, BUT I AM VERY UNEASY, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I AM THE ONE THAT USES THE TRUCK IN FLORIDA AND SINCE WE PURCHASED THE TWO TRUCKS AT THE SAME TIME. AS OF NOW, THE DAMAGED TRUCK IS BEING HELD AT THE MECHANIC'S UNTIL WE CAN HAVE OUR TRUCKS SERVICED. OTHERWISE, WE WILL HAVE TO PAY OVER $1000/ PER TRUCK TO FIX THE PROBLEM, IN WHICH CASE WE FEEL IT IS ONLY RIGHT TO BE FULLY REIMBURSED FOR THOSE SERVICES. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BALL JOINTS HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE. PRIOR TO BOTH FAILURES THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT SIX MONTHS AGO UNDER A GOOD WILL CAMPAIGN. THE LEFT UPPER BALL JOINT ALSO FRACTURED HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPAIR IT AT NO COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED WHO EXPLAINED THERE WAS NOT A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE INSURANCE AGENCY NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THERE WAS A RECALL. NHTSA RECALL # 05V225000 REGARDING THE SUSPENSION FRONT CONTROL ARM LOWER BALL JOINT. WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT FRONT END BRAKE SHIMMY THEY STATED THERE IS A TSB ON THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM. WHEN I ASKED IF DANGEROUS UNTIL I GET FIXED I WAS TOLD NO. I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT THE DAY BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT TO GET THE TSB REPAIRED. NOW MY BRAKES ARE AT 50% 8 MONTHS AFTER REPLACEMENT AS WELL. *JB

THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V225000, REGARDING THE LOWER BALL JOINT. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
WE HAVE A TOYOTA TUNDRA A 2004, MY HUSBAND SAID IT WAS STEERING LIKE SOMETHING WAS CATCHING HE TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, SO WE PICKED IT UP THAT SAME DAY, TOOK IT ON A TRIP, ON OUR WAY BACK GOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IT FELT LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OF OUR TRUCK FELL OFF, IT WAS A TERRIBLE TERRIFYING JOLT MY HUSBAND KNEW THAT WE HAD LOST THE TIRE AND RIM SPARKS WERE FLYING EVERYWHERE AS WE WERE SLIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON THE AXEL, LUCKILY WE WERE ON A STRAIGHT AWAY WITH NO TRAFFIC BUT ONE VEHICLE BEHIND US. THE FRICTION SLOWED THE TRUCK DOWN, WE PULLED IT OFF THE HIGHWAY, WE WERE SURPRISED TO SEE THAT THE BALL JOINT HAD COLLAPSED AND THE TIRE AND WHEEL WERE FOLDED UNDER THE TRUCK SO THAT THE TRUCK WAS ACTUALLY SLIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON THIS TIRE AND WHEEL, THE SHERIFF SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING QUITE LIKE IT. WE CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER TO SEE IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL THAT WE HAD MISSED THEY SAID NO RECALL ON THAT VIN NUMBER. AFTER CHECKING ON THE INTERNET WE FOUND THAT THEY DO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2004 TUNDRA'S BUT OURS WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. TOYOTA IS SAYING THAT IT IS NOT THERE FAULT OR PROBLEM. OUR TRUCK IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD, WITH 52,000 MILES. BEFORE THE BALL JOINT COLLAPSED WE WERE COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN PASS WITH A LOT OF CURVES IF IT HAD OF HAPPENED THEN OUR OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. WE WERE LUCKY TO COME AWAY WITH ONLY SORE MUSCLES. THE COST OF REPAIRS IS GOING TO BE OVER $6,000 DOLLARS. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GET BACK IN THAT TRUCK, I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO RIDE IN IT. HOW CAN YOU SELL SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW IS NOT SAFE. I AM VERY UPSET THAT TOYOTA TAKES THE STAND THAT IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. WE HAD FAITH IN THE TOYOTA BRAND. NOT ANYMORE. TOYOTA'S BOTTOM LINE IS MONEY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT SAFETY. WHO WANTS TO BUY OUR DEFECTIVE TRUCK, ANY TAKERS? WHO WANTS TO PUT THEIR FAMILY AT RISK? IF YOU DO, BUY A TOYOTA. *NM
MY ABS BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON UNDER CONDITIONS OF COLD (AROUND FREEZING) AND DAMP WEATHER. ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS WARMED UP THE LIGHT GOES OFF, BUT THE ATS DOESN'T WORK UNTIL THAT HAPPENS. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THEY CLAIM NO ONE HAS FILED A COMPLAINT. THE TRUCK IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS. *NM
UNKNOWN WHAT HAS CAUSED THIS, IT SEEMS AS IF THE WINDOWS ON MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB WILL FALL OUT OR JUST BREAK IF A DOOR IS CLOSED AND THE RESPECTIVE WINDOW IS NOT ALL THE WAY UP. SHOULD YOU FORGET YOU WILL BE REMINDED BY THE HORRIBLE SOUND AND THE EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT THE WINDOW MAKES WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR OR FORGET TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW WHEN YOU DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THE ONLY FIX I HAVE FOUND IS TO NOT LEAVE YOUR WINDOWS DOWN AND TO ALWAYS HAVE THEM ALL THE WAY UP. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY ANNOYING BUT IS CLEARLY A DISTRACTION WHILE OPERATING TRUCK. *TR
THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN WITH POOR ROAD CONDITIONS. IF THE ROAD CONDITIONS ARE BUMPY AND OR MAY HAVE SOME SMALL WASH OUTS SPOTS. THE BRAKING DISTANCE IS INCREASED. ALSO IN SLICK CONDITION AFTER A SNOW, THE ABS ACTIVATES AND WHEELS LOCK UP. *TR

VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON JUNE 30, 2004. AFTER ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES, THE FRONT TIRE BEGAN TO WEAR EXCESSIVELY ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE, AND THE VEHICLE PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES AND ALIGNED THE END AT AROUND 4K MILES. THE WEAR CONTINUED, AND NOW AT 18K, THE TIRES ARE WORN OUT. THE VEHICLE STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT, AND THE DEALER STATES THAT NO ADDITIONAL FRONT END ALIGNMENTS OR TIRES WILL BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
DT: 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SEPARATED AND THE TIRE FELL OFF. THE CONSUMER FOUND RECALL, 05V225000, BUT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THIS HAPPENED ON AUGUST 31, 2005. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE STEERING FELT FUNNY, LIKE THERE WAS LOW AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED; IT PULLED OUT OF THE AXLE FROM THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. IT BENT THE UNDER CARRIAGE, THE FENDER, TIE ROD ENDS AND STEERING. ALSO, IT RUINED THE TIRE. CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS GOING BETWEEN 30-35 MPH AND HE WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. I HAVE A 04 DOUBLE CAB TOYOTA TUNDRA. WIFE WAS DRIVING AND TRYING TO STOP .WHEN SHE PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TRUCK KEPT ON ROLLING AND SMASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER. I HAD TWO AUTO REPAIR SHOPS TELL ME THAT MY BALL JOINTS WERE BAD I WENT TO HADDAD TOYOTA TO HAVE THEM CHECKED HADDAD TOYOTA TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BALL JOINTS. I THEN PROCEEDED TO HAVE NEW TIRES PUT ON BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE WEAR AT THE TIME THE TIRE STORE SAID YOU HAVE TO REPLACE YOUR VBALL JOINTS SO AT A COST OF 500 DOLLARS I HAD THEM REPLACED WHEN THE FIRST RECALL CAME OUT AFTER I HAD THE JOINTS REPLACE I SENT AL,L THE INFORMATION TO TOYOTA FOR REFUND OF MY MONEY. THEY SAID BECAUSE I HAD THE REPLACEMENT DONE BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN TOYOTA I COULD NOT GET MY MONEY . IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN RECOVER THE MONEY I SPENT AFTER TOYOTA DENIED THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BALL JOINTS? *TR

THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN. THE IGNITION KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A WALL. THERE WERE TWO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE THAT SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE IMPACT INVOLVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 34,000.

I DROVE OFF THE HIGHWAY AND IT FELT LIKE THE TRUCK WAS STEERING ITSELF. I HAD THIS STEERING PROBLEM SINCE IT WAS NEW- DEALER SAID IT WAS TIRE BALANCE AND LATER SHOCKS- BUT " WE WON'T THROW PARTS AT IT"- A INDEPENDENT SHOP REPLACED THE TIE ROD AND THE STEERING VEERING OFF STOPPED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICEABLE WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND GOING AROUND CURVES- THE TRUCK WAS HARD TO CONTROL- SHOOK AND NEEDED STEERING HELP. *NM
2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH A LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL. ON WET PAYMENT, IF BOTH WHEEL SPIN AT THE SAME TIME ( LOOSE TRACTION), THE TRUCK BED WILL KICK LEFT AND PUT THE TRUCK INTO A SPIN. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER SAID THE LSD (LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL) WAS FUNCTIONING. HE ASKED ME WHICH SIDE THE TRUCK KICKED. I TOLD HIM LEFT. THE DEALER HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE WITH THIS TRUCK KICKING LEFT. THE DEALER STATED I HAD TO CONTACT TOYOTA MOTOR SALES AND FILE A COMPLAINT. THIS WAS DONE AND I WAS REFEREED TO TOYOTA REGIONAL OFFICE IN FL. I WAS CONTACTED BY THEM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE LSD WAS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY AND THAT TOYOTA HAS NO INTENTION OF FIXING THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM NEED TO BE FIXED! *JB
GAS TANK DEFECT, SOMETIMES IT INDICATES EMPTY TANK BUT IT IS NOT EMPTY, SOMETIMES IT INDICATE FULL TANK BUT IT IS NOT FULL. THIS TANK IS UNPREDICTABLE POSSIBLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. ALSO THE TIRES WEARS FASTER ON THE OUTER SURFACE UNEVEN. VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING BRAKE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN HILL IN LIGHT SNOW THE VEHICLE WAS PICKING UP SPEED AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS THE NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE BRAKES, AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING CORRECTLY. *AK
VEHICLE FRAME IS ROTTING. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TOYOTA TUNDRA. FOR WHATEVER REASON, PRIOR RECALLS DID NOT APPLY TO THE 2004 MODEL YEAR EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS USED IN AREAS THAT ARE TREATED WITH SALT DURING THE WINTER. FRAME CORROSION HAS RENDERED THIS VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
