SIGNIFICANT RUST AROUND BED BOLTS. NO OTHER RUST ON BODY, OR UNDERNEATH BED, NO RUST ON CHASSIS. NO RUST ANYWHERE ELSE ON TRUCK. SEEMS TO BE SOFTBALL SIZE BUBBLES IN A PATTERN ON BED ONLY. IF NOT FIXED AFRAID BED WILL COME LOOSE WHILE DRIVING OVER ROUGH TERRAIN OR IN A MINOR ACCIDENT.
FRAME WHERE FUEL TANK STRAP IS RUSTING CAUSING STRAP TO COME LOSE AND FRONT OF FUEL TANK FELL AND HIT ROAD WHILE TRAVELING ON ROUTE 62 HWY. TOOK TRUCK BACK TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED AND ON MY WAY HOME IT FELL OFF AGAIN SO I HAD TO PUT A LARGER BOLT IN THE RUST HOLE JUST TO GET MY FUEL TANK TO STAY ON.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT (POWERED) SUDDENLY, RANDOMLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFTS POSITIONS BY A VERY NOTICEABLE AMOUNT. THE MOVEMENT IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD CLUNK/THUNK NOISE THAT IS VERY UNNERVING TO BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER. IN FACT, WE ARE STARTING TO WONDER IF THE SEAT MAY JUST COMPLETELY DISCONNECT FROM THE BODY WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. IF YOU WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE SENSATION OF UNEXPECTED MOVEMENT AND NOISE, I SUSPECT THE SAME THOUGHT WOULD CROSS YOUR MIND AS WELL. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON SOME TUNDRA MODELS AND ON MANY OTHER TOYOTA MODELS. SEE TUNDRATALK.NET, TOYOTANATION.COM, AND TUNDRAHEADQUARTERS.COM. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS AFTER THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN 15 - 30 MINUTES. THE LONGER THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN, THE MORE FREQUENTLY THE ISSUE MANIFESTS. THE SLIGHTEST CHANGE IN ACCELERATION OR SHIFT IN DIRECTION SEEMS TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM.
THE BED OF THIS TRUCK IS RUSTING OUT ESPECIALLY ALONG THE CROSS FRAME BARS AND WHERE THE BOLTS ATTACH THE BED TO THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. AS THE TRUCK AGES THE REAR OF THE TRUCK HAS DEVELOPED A SWAY WHEN ROUNDING TURNS.
I RECENTLY HAD A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVETRAIN OF MY 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA AT ALMOST ANY SPEED AND THE SOUND WAS PRESENT REGARDLESS OF TURNS OR TYPE OF DRIVING. I HAD NOTICED THE NOISE FOR QUITE A WHILE BUT IT STARTED TO GET SO BAD THAT YOU COULD FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE FLOORBOARD. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 75K MILES ON IT AND IT TURNS OUT THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS HAVE FAILED PREMATURELY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO TOYOTA (SEE TSB-0151-01) BUT AFTER ASKING THEIR DEALERSHIP AND CALLING THEIR RECALL CENTER, THEY REFUSE TO ASSIST FINANCIALLY WITH THE REPAIR, WHICH WAS VERY EXPENSIVE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE, AS THE BEARING COULD SEIZE OR COME APART, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE CONSIDER HAVING TOYOTA ISSUE A RECALL. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON ONLINE CHAT FORUMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE CHANGED GEARS. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY AND THE AIR SWITCH VALVE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,500.
HI: I OWEN A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDERA I AM HAVING SOME PROBLEMS WITH IT THE VSC OFF LIGHTS, ABS AND SKIDDING LIGHTS KEEP FLASHING! TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY DID'NT FINE ANY THING WRONG WITH IT.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER BEING SERVICED FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AXLE, THE BEARING, AND THE BRAKE BACKING PLATE FAILED. THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE THE BRAKES TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. IN ADDITION, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE TRUCK BED FLOOR HAS RUSTED AT ALL FOUR HOLD DOWN BOLTS AND HAS EXPANDED TO OTHER ASPECTS OF TRUCK BED FLOOR ITSELF.
TRUCK STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD ROARING NOISE AT SPEED 50 MPH AND OVER. THE RIGHT WHEEL BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. TOYOTA HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON BOTH WHEEL BEARINGS AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAD LESS THEN 30,000 MILES ON IT.
LEAF SPRINGS GIVING OUT, NEVER PUT HALF OF THE MAX WEIGHT CAPACITY, CALLED TOYOTA THEY TOLD ME NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT EVEN THOUGH I PERSONALLY KNOW SOMEONE THAT HAD THEIRS REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE TOYOTA WOULD NOT FIX IT FOR FREE IF THEY DID NOT KNOW THE PRODUCT WAS BAD AND FAULTY. NOISE COMING FROM FRONT END OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 10 TO 30 MPH. I WAS TOLD NEEDED ENTIRE NEW FRONT END, AND OTHER COMPONENTS FOR THE REPAIR. I DID NOT KNOW TOYOTA DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE PUBLIC SO MUCH TO LET UNSAFE VEHICLES TO BE OUT ON THE ROAD. CANNOT DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL THESE REPAIRS ARE DONE FOR WORRY OF SAFETY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.
UPON ROUTINE BRAKE CHANGE/INSPECTION UNCOVERED THAT BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BOLT WAS COMPLETELY DETERIORATED (TOYOTA PART NUMBER TO47814-0C010) PERMITTING THE ENTIRE BRAKE CALIPER TO MOVE FREELY AROUND ROTOR. DEALERSHIP NOTED VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IN CONDITION UNTIL REPAIR COULD BE MADE. REPORTING THIS AS SIGNIFICANT ISSUE GIVEN THAT IT IS DETERMINED UNSAFE BY TOYOTA DEALER, DIRECTLY EFFECTS ABILITY TO STOP, AND IS HAPPENED TO A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE NOT DRIVEN HARD. HALF INCH CALIPER PINS SHOULD NOT DETERIORATE.....UPDATED 01/13/16 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR INTAKE VALVE AND PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
STARTED VEHICLE. WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. RELEASED LOCK MANUALLY AND DROVE TO DEALER (6 MILES). THEY REPLACED FUSIBLE LINK AND FOUND ABS CONTROLLER NOT WORKING. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE HOME AND THEY WOULD CALL 4 DAYS LATER ON AVAILABILITY OF USED CONTROLLER ($300 VS $1953). BRAKES OK BUT NO ABS. HAD SAME THING HAPPEN AUGUST 31, 2014. HAD THE TUNDRA HAULED TO DEALERSHIP. TUNDRA WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A MONTH WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT FUSIBLE LINK. BACKORDERED - OUT OF STOCK ALL THE WAY TO JAPAN. TOYOTA HAD TO MANUFACTURE MORE. MORE THAN EXPECTED DEMAND? BOTH TIMES WARNING LIGHTS FOR BRAKE, CHECK ENGINE, ABS, AIR BAG WERE ON. TURN SIGNALS AND SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAD NO IDEA OF THE CAUSE. TOLD THEM LOW VOLTAGE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER VEHICLE I HAVE. MAKES ME WONDER IF THERE ARE BEING TRUTHFUL WITH ME AND IF OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS MAY BE COMPROMISED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, ALL FOUR WHEELS LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGR THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP CRASHING INTO A DEER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CRASH, THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL, AB,S AND 4WD WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT INTO 4WD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE ABS ACTUATOR PUMP AND A FAULTY SPEED SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA 5.7L DOUBLE CAB W/74,500 MILES 4HI, 4LO, ABS, VSC LIGHTS COME ON AND FLASH AT RANDOM INTERVALS. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE CRUISE WAS SET AT 65 WHEN ALL FOUR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. ALL OTHER INDICATIONS ARE NORMAL. THE TRUCK WILL NOT ENGAGE 4HI, 4LO OR VSC UNTIL IT IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE SAME DAY AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES OF DRIVING ALL FOUR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AGAIN, THIS TIME THE CRUISE WAS NOT ENGAGED. SOMETIMES ONE OR TWO DAYS PASS BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. NO ERROR CODES ARE INDICATED ON THE COMPUTER. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ON GOING PROBLEM WITH MY 2008 TUNDRA 5.7 4X4 THE 4X4 HI/L, VSC, ABS ARE BLINKING WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT TIMES. BROUGHT TRUCK IN RAN TEST AND NOTHING CAME BACK. TRUCK ALSO FEELS LIKE IT BUNNY HOPS WHEN GOING OUT OF FIRST INTO 2ND GEAR. TOYOTA STILL SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. *TR

2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCK WITH 5.7L ENGINE. VEHICLE HAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE THAT SEEMS TO BE A VALVE TRAIN NOISE WHEN TRUCK IS ACCELERATING AFTER SLOWING DOWN, UNDER LOAD OR TOWING A TRAILER. TOOK TRUCK TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES SO FAR , WITH FEEDBACK RANGING FROM CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING TO THIS IS A NORMAL NOISE OF THE ENGINE. I HAVE READ MANY POSTINGS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT DEALER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AND INSISTS CONDITION IS NORMAL. THIS SEEMS TO BE A POOR DESIGN OR POOR QUALITY THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO ADDRESS. I OWN SEVERAL TOYOTAS AND IT SEEMS QUALITY STANDARDS ARE REALLY DROPPING LATELY. PERHAPS IT IS TIME TO MOVE AWAY FROM TOYOTA BRAND. THIS ENGINE SITUATION COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE IF A PART INSIDE OF THE ENGINE BREAKS OFF AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN, LEADING TO LOSS OF BRAKING AND STEERING CAPABILITIES. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF, TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AS THE OWNER MANUAL INDICATES. DIAGNOSE CODE B1801 OPEN SPIRAL CABLE PART# 155740. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIR SYSTEM IS DISABLED AND WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN RESEARCHING IF THIS IS COMMON OR NOT, THERE ARE A LOT OF TUNDRA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SPIRAL CABLE IS EITHER A DEFECTIVE PART TOYOTA USED OR A DESIGN FLAW THEREFORE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED. TOYOTA DEALER WANTS OVER 750 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SPIRAL CABLE. SINCE IT GOES ON AND OFF, TOYOTA OWNERS WILL HAVE TO BE LUCKY IF THEY GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND HOPE THE LIGHT IS OFF AT THE TIME SO THE AIRBAGS WILL WORK. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED ONCE AGAIN THAT THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LTX II TIRES, SIZE: 275-55 R20. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SIDEWALL WAS CRACKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE, VIN AND DOT NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE FAN PULLEY CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED AND BROKE AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSE THE SERPENTINE BELT TO GIVE, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LOOSE POWER STEERING AND CRASH INTO A ROAD SIDE DITCH. THIS TRUCK HAD PARTS REPLACED 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE FAILURE, AND NO PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED TO OWNER. *TR
I STARTED MY TRUCK AND NOTICED THAT THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) LIGHT AND THE 4-HI AND 4-LO LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AS WELL. THE PARKING LOT I WAS IN WAS MOSTLY EMPTY AND SLICK, SO I TRIED A HARD BREAKING AND SURE ENOUGH THE ABS SYSTEM FAILS TO OPERATE. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VSC FAILED TO WORK AS WELL. I TRIED TO SHIFT INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND THAT FAILED AS WELL. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A NUMBER OF FORUMS WHERE OTHERS TALKED ABOUT HAVING THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. SOME STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED, OTHERS THAT IT WAS A BAD CONNECTION. I FEEL THAT A FAILURE LIKE THIS WITHOUT WARNING CAN PUT DRIVERS AT RISK. WE HAVE COME TO RELY ON THESE TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES MAKING OUR VEHICLES SAFER TO DRIVE, AND IF THEY FAIL WITHOUT WARNING, IN THE MIDDLE OF A HARD BRAKING SITUATION, THIS COULD LEAD TO DISASTROUS SITUATION AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE. *TR

WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE POWER DOOR LOCKS ON OUR TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE TRUCK DOES NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH THE FOB OR WITH THE DOOR LOCKS. IT IS AN ISSUE WITH ALL THE DOORS. IT IS ERRATIC AS TO WHICH DOOR RESPOND TO THE FOB AND WHICH DON'T. IT CHANGES EVERYDAY. SOMETHING IS PROBABLY WRONG WITH THE ACTUATOR OR COMPUTER. IT IS A NUISANCE, INCONVENIENCE AND DANGEROUS;IN A CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, ONE WANTS TO BE ABLE TO OPEN ONE'S DOORS QUICKLY. THIS WAS DISCOVERED A YEAR AGO AND CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. *TR
CASE # [XXX] ( FILED WITH TOYOTA) ON JAN 3RD WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM HAVING BRAKES REPLACED ON MY 2008 TUNDRA MY VEHICLE ENGINE DIED ON A BUSY 4 LANE ROAD WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. I LOST MY ABILITY TO STEER IMMEDIATELY. FORTUNATELY I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT BEFORE I LOST TOTAL MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE. I TRIED RESTARTING AND IT WOULD NOT. I CHECKED ALL THE INDICATERS AND EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL. FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED 1/4 FULL WHICH WOULD EQUATE TO APPROXIMATELY 5-7 GALLONS. AFTER EXHAUSTING ALL EFFORTS TO RESTART THE TRUCK I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED I EXPLAINED TO HIM WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND HE SUGGESTED IT MIGHT BE OUT OF GAS!!!...I SHOWED HIM THE FUEL GAGE INDICATOR SHOWING THE 1/4 LEVEL AND HE TOLD ME THAT HIS DAD ALSO HAD A TUNDRA AND HAD EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE FUEL TANK FLOAT HANGING GIVING FALSE READINGS OF WHAT THE ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL WAS. HE SUGGESTED WE TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION AND PUT A FEW GALLONS IN PRIOR TO TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. ONCE WE ADDED SOME GASOLINE THE TRUCK STARTED RIGHT UP. I WAS SHOCKED AND UPSET FOR A NUMBER OF REASON. 1. I JUST PAID A TOW SERVICE $75 DOLLARS FOR TAKING ME DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT A HALF BLOCK TO A LOCAL CONVENIENT STORE TO PUT GAS IN MY TRUCK. 2. I STARTED REALIZING WHAT A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THIS IS. I COULD HAVE JUST AS WELL BEEN TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR AND HAVE MY ENGINE JUST QUIT ON ME!! THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THAT ARE QUITE SCARY AS TO ALL THE ACCIDENT SCENARIOS THAT COULD OCCUR TO INCLUDE LOSS OF LIFE FOR NOT ONLY THE DRIVER OF THE FAILED VEHICLE BUT THOSE TRAVELING CLOSE BY AS WELL. THE MAIN PROBLEM WAS AIR PUMP FAILURE, HAVE A FEELING IT'S ASSOCIATED WITH EXHAUST PROBLEM. TRUCK HAS BEEN TICKING SINCE ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW, I JUST ASSUMED THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS SINCE IT QUIETS AFTER WARMS UP. TURNS OUT MANIFOLD IS CRACKED BY THE PUMP. OF COURSE WARRANTY IS UP. AFTER READING ONLINE SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM. HAVE HAD IT SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS FOR OIL CHANGES ETC. . THE DEALERSHIP'S KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IGNORE THEM. I HAVE TWO OTHER TOYOTA CARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TOYOTA TRUCK I'VE BOUGHT . TOYOTA WE'LL HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM WHEN GO BACK TO BUYING THE CHEVY,FORD, DODGE. THEY WERE BUYING BEFORE THEY CAME OUT WITH FULL SIZE TUNDRA. THE POWER WINDOWS ON ALL 4 DOORS DO NOT WORK WHEN THE WEATHER GOES TO JUST FREEZING. I DO NOT THINK THERE IS ENOUGH INSULATION IN THE DOORS OR WATER IS ACCUMULATING INSIDE THE MOTORS THAT RUN WINDOWS. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2012 AND DID NOT DRIVE IT LAST WINTER AS I WORK AWAY FROM HOME FOR MONTHS AT A TIME. THIS WINTER I WAS HOME AND THE POWER WINDOWS DO NOT WORK WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5 VIOLENTLY SHAKES WHEN BRAKING AT 40 PLUS MILES AN HOUR CAUSING INSTABILITY WHEN DRIVING AND A MAJOR DISTRACTION. TSB 0131-12 FOR THIS ISSUE WAS RELEASED IN AUGUST 2012. HOWEVER, TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND TOYOTA USA HEADQUARTERS WILL NOT FIX THE DEFECT UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN STARTING THE TOYOTA TUNDRA THE 4LO , VSR, CHECK ENGINE , LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER IT WOULD 'NT RUN HAD TO TAKE THE BATTERY CABLE OFF TO RESET COMPUTER, IT CLEARED THE SYSTEM THEN THE SAME THING HAPPEN A WEEK LATER TOOK IT IN TO THE TOYOTA SERVICE SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK ALMOST EVERY OTHER DAY CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT'S ITS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL . I FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SECONDARY AIR PUMPS AND INJECTION SYSTEM AND HAVE ALSO READ THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I TRIED TO INSTALL A GRACO MYRIDE 65 REAR-FACING IN A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA, USING LATCH BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. I ATTACHED THE HOOKS OF THE GREY REAR-FACING LATCH BELT TO THE LATCH RINGS IN THE TRUCK, AND PULLED THE BELT TO TIGHTEN DOWN THE CAR SEAT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE BELT TIGHT, BUT WHEN I PUSHED ON THE CAR SEAT TO CHECK FOR MOVEMENT, THE BELT LOOSENED COMPLETELY. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE LATCH BELT WOULD TIGHTEN, BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY TIGHT. I NOTIFIED GRACO OF THE ISSUE, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO SEND/SELL ME A REPLACEMENT GREY REAR-FACING LATCH STRAP, SO THEY SENT AN EMAIL WITH INFORMATION ON HOW TO OBTAIN A REBATE IF/WHEN I PURCHASED ANOTHER GRACO CAR SEAT. When accelerating on my truck between 45 and 55 miles, the motor starts shaking alot. I have to release the gas pedal to make it stopped. Also the transmission shift by itself when I am at a stop sign. Just once.

FOUND OUT CODE P2442 SECONDARY AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM FAILURE PUT TRUCK INTO LIMP MODE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN JUST PARTS TO REPAIR THIS SYSTEM. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING SAME PROBLEMS WITH SAME VEHICLE. TOYOTA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND RE ENGINEER A REMEDY FOR THIS POOR DESIGN AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS A LITTLE LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT, AND HAS A FEATURE WHICH AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOORS AT 15 MPH, THEN UNLOCKS THEM WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS PUT IN PARK. HOWEVER, THE DOORS WILL NO LONGER LOCK UNLESS I DO SO MANUALLY WITH EACH DOOR; THE POWER MECHANISM HAS FAILED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE CENTRAL RELAY AND CONTROLLER OF THE POWER LOCK SYSTEM IS OK; BUT THE POWER LOCK ACTUATOR (SMALL MOTOR) ON EACH DOOR HAS FAILED INDIVIDUALLY. I FIND IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BELIEVE THAT EACH ONE OF THESE PARTS HAS FAILED IN THE SAME VEHICLE RELATIVELY EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE UNLESS THERE IS EITHER A FAULTY DESIGN OR EXTREMELY POOR QUALITY OF THE PARTS INVOLVED. IN EITHER CASE, THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR, WHICH THE DEALER ESTIMATES AT $1,746.00! PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS IF YOU ARE ABLE TO PUT SOME PRESSURE ON TOYOTA. WHILE COMPLETELY STOPPED IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC, I WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH BEFORE HE SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES. UPON THE COLLISION, THE DRIVER'S SEAT I WAS SITTING IN SLID BACKWARDS ON THE ADJUSTABLE SEAT TRACK TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND MY SEAT FULLY RECLINED. AFTER THE COLLISION, MY SEAT WAS FULLY RECLINED AND I WAS LAYING DOWN IN MY SEAT. MY TUNDRA WAS MAKING SCRAPING NOISES WHEN TURNING. BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO TOYOTA FOR SERVICE TO FIND OUT THE REAR BEARINGS ON BOTH SIDES WERE RUSTING OUT AND THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE CALLED TOYOTA ALREADY EVEN THOUGH MY WARRANTY HAD LONG PASSED. HE STATED THAT TOYOTA HAD INCREASED THE WARRANTY ON THE BEARINGS TO A 5 YEAR/65,000 MILES. TOYOTA DID PAY ABOUT 1/4 TH OF THE COST. SEEMS AS THOUGH THEY KNOW THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE BEARING BUT NOT WILLING TO COVER THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIR. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD BEARING ISSUES ON ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED. I DRIVE MOST OF MY VEHICLES FOR ABOUT 8 YEARS OR MORE. THUS ONE OF THE REASONS I BUY TOYOTAS. NOT SURE IF THAT WILL BE TRUE ANY LONGER. *TR
I LET MY BOYFRIEND DRIVE MY 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA TO WORK. HE WAS ON HIS WAY HOME FOLLOWING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AT 68MPH AND TWO CARS AHEAD SLAMMED ON THEIR BREAKS TO AVOID THE TRAFFIC STOP AND THE THREE CARS COLLIDED. MY TOYOTA TUNDRA SUSTAINED THE MOST DAMAGE BASHING THE ENTIRE FRONT-END OF THE VEHICLE. A WOMEN AT THE FRONT OF THE COLLISION WAS TREATED FOR BACK INJURIES. MY BOYFRIEND DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES THANKS THE GRACE OF GOD BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS IN THE TOYOTA TUNDRA DID NOT DEPLOY. *JS
PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE STEERING COLUMN BECAME VERY LOOSE. I HAD TO KEEP REPOSITIONING IT. I THOUGHT I HAD TIGHTEN THE SAFETY LOCK PIECE THAT HOLDS THE STEERING COLUMN IN PLACE. THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT, AS I WAS GETTING IN MY VEHICLE, THE STEERING COLUMN COMPLETELY CAME DOWN. IT WOULD NOT LOCK IN PLACE. AS I WAS ON MY WAY THE STEERING COLUMN MOVED UP AND DOWN, AND IN AND OUT. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE STEERING VEHICLE. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER. I WAS TOLD TWO PIECES OF THE STEERING COLUMN BROKE OFF. I WAS GIVEN A QUOTE FROM TOYOTA IN THE AMOUNT OF $600 FOR THE PART AND $645 FOR LABOR. *JS
