Product almost set my car on fire, luckily I was stop at a car wash when one the cleaning crew members noticed smoke coming out from under my hood my hood , I opened the hood and the actual light bulb was on fire, it burnt my original hardness of my vehicle and the housing of my head light
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2012 Toyota Tundra. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 137,355. The contact stated that while inspecting the glove box, the contact found three receipts that showed three different odometer readings. The contact then ordered a Carfax report and discovered that the mileage on the Title on October 4, 2025, was 252,307.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2012 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 161,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 260,000.
Wife was driving truck and immediately went into limp mode on the highway. Check engine light came on, no accelerating then died. Had to get it towed. This is the 3rd incident with this issue.
The fuel pump failed on my Tundra. Several dashboard check engine lights suddenly lit up to warn me of the issue. While I was able to safely get it to a mechanic to repair the independent Toyota certified mechanic I use shared they have seen a volume of these where the car stops immediately with the Fuel pump failing completely. I was lucky as the day prior to this I was driving through mountain passes on the highway in Colorado. I have since found out from the feedback from my mechanic that they have repaired a volume of these, and it is a known issue by Toyota who issued a technical service bulletin. The fuel pump needs to be replaced with a different specification - the original pump is not sufficient. My concern is putting driver/passenger safety at risk with a complete fuel pump failure while driving. I consider this a near-miss for me, and would worry about others that are about to have this issue.
ECM safety recall air injection pump failure
Temperature Seat switches are not working, fire hazard does to malfunctioning.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle started leaking fuel, and the contact smelled an abnormal fuel odor. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the fuel leak stopped. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel tank valve assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 20,000.
My power steering gear blew its seal on the passenger side losing all power steering fluid and almost making me crash into a car next to me, and Toyota refuses to cover it stating that I hadn't had the steering gear replaced prior to whenever their dates were this is clearly faulty equipment and faulty machine work on the steering gear itself. why won't Toyota cover it? I tried contacting One Toyota and Downtown Toyota here in Oakland California and they told me that they wanted $250 to inspect my vehicle and that I would definitely have to pay for it because my vehicle was not under recall it states it is a recall if you look it up.It is worded recall if they're not going to cover it sounds like they're trying to back out of covering it until someone gets seriously hurt or killed like I almost did, I will never buy another Toyota again as long as I live because clearly they don't care about the faulty equipment on their vehicles that's going to hurt or kill someone. All they care about is the mighty dollar and that's just wrong. Safety has gone rite the window and if anyone reading this is thinking about buying a Toyota, I would seriously think twice.
2012 Tundra faced a lot of problems like air injection pump failures, sticking of secondary air pumps, knock, along with other issues like speed control, engine cooling, and throttle failure. At present, it has been slapped with 136 complaints, 4 recalls, and 1 investigation as recorded on NHTSA site.Sep 2, 2022
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while plowing his driveway, there was an abnormal burning odor detected. The vehicle suddenly lost power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that oil was needed. The mechanic became aware that oil was dripping through a small crack on the cam shaft on the right cylinder bank onto the exhaust manifold. The contact was informed that the engine wiring harness was burned. The mechanic recommended that the engine and transfer case be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed after an investigation, that there was no evidence of a defect. The claim was denied. There was no additional assistance provided. The approximate failure mileage 175,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the light stayed illuminated while driving. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent certified mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the secondary air injectors needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that the manufacturer had offered an Extended Warranty Program to cover the failure under "Warranty Enhancement Program ZG6" for "Air Injection Pumps and Air Switching Valves" and that the warranty had expired several months prior. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
Computer software issues. Flex full engine.
My driver's side rear lug studs all broke while driving, causing damage to my when and rear axle of the vehicle.
Secondary air injection pump has high rate of failure, recalls in older models. Has caused truck to go into limp mode. Could cause serious accident/fatality if vehicle suddenly goes into limp mode on highway. This has happened on multiple occasions in forums I’ve read. Known problem by Toyota that isn’t being addressed.
The engine leaks oil in front of the faulty designed cam tower seal and leaks on the manifold. This caused smoke to come from the oil burning off.
The truck has paint peeling from it. There is currently a recall out for other models of Toyota with the same paint type as mine. Toyota says that the Tundra is not affected by this recall. I took the truck to Toyota they took down a report and told me to call the cooperate office to report it as well.
My horn stopped working. I have two new drivers and this is a huge safety concern of mine. The dealer is telling me that this is a $800 job. Online I'm finding that this is a very common issue that is occurring ... effecting the safety or our vehicle.

Started my truck and the 4lo, check engine and trac off lights came on. The 4lo was blinking.
The horn can not be operated by the steering wheel. The horn still works when the panic alarm is pressed. According to several forums that I have visited, it’s a common issue with the steering column rubbing the insulation off of the wire. I believe that if this is that common of an issue, it should be reported, and hope that it will be addressed by a recall.
Check engine light which when checked revealed Air pump and air control valve failures. This is a known problem with 2006-2011 Tundras that Toyota issued an extended warranty for 10 years or 150,000 to replace these parts. There was additional extended warranty for 2012 with 5.7 Liter engine but not the 4.6 liter engine. Safety issue is when total failure occurs vehicle goes into limp mode with max speed of 25MPH which would be bad at highway speeds. Code was run by repair facility and copy is enclosed. Email was sent to Toyota corporate and upon phone call follow up, Toyota refused to do anything towards the defect.

The horn no longer works on the vehicle. I can no longer alert drivers who do not see me while driving or in parking lots. My auto shop confirmed the horn did not work and estimated the repair. There were no warnings.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRAC OFF LIGHT CAME ON. CAR AUTOMATICALLY REDUCES SPEED CAUSING DIFFICULTY PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THE SECONDARY AIR PUMPS ARE DEFECTIVE. SOMETHING TOYOTA IS AWARE OF BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY MODEL. NO HELP FROM THERE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT. PROBLEM HAPPENED AS I WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPEED TO GET OUT OF WAY OF INCOMING TRAFFIC.

2012 Toyota Tundra has a known design flaw in that moisture is allowed to condense, accumulate and corrode in components of the secondary air intake system leading to decrease performance especially in regards to acceleration which is critical to operating a vehicle safely.
MY TUNDRA WITH 75,000 MILES HAS A CAMSHAFT TOWER LEAK AND THIS OIL IS FALLING INTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITHOUT BEING NOTICED BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MAKE IT TO THE FLOOR, BUT IT GETS TO THE SENSORS AND STARTS RUINING THEM. TOYOTA MOTOR CO KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN ALL THEIR 5.7L ENGINES AND THAT ITS A FACTORY ROBOT ERROR BY NOT APPLYING ENOUGH SEALANT IN THE GASKET. AND THIS IS JUST BEING FIXED IF YOU ARE EITHER UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLES LOOSE POWER AND IF DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE LEAST THIS COMPANY CAN DO IS OFFER A VOLUNTARY RECALL BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO SO BECAUSE THE FIX WILL COST THEM $3500-$4000 FROM ALL THEIR 5.7L ENGINES ASSEMBLED IN THE U.S. SO FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MANY TOYOTA DRIVERS AND GENERAL HIGHWAY DRIVERS SAFETY, I HOPE THIS WOULD BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. I WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON TO MASS 93 HIGHWAY WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRAC OFF LIGHT AND BLINKING 4 LOE CAME ON. THE ENGINE WENT INTO LIMP MODE GREATLY REDUCING MY POWER AND I LOST CONTROL AND. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE LANE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE NEXT EXIT AND GET TO A MECHANICS SHOP. THEY HOOKED UP A ANALYSIS COMPUTER AND CAME BACK WITH MAINTENANCE CODE P2432, SECONDARY AIR PUMPS AND SECONDARY AIR PUMP VALVES. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH TOYOTA TUNDRAS GOING BACK TO 2007 MODELS. THE WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED ON 2007 - 2010 MODELS BUT NOT NEWER MODELS WHICH ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.I FEEL THIS PROBLEM CONSTITUTES A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE DRASTIC REDUCTION IN POWER WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DEPENDING ON WHEN THE PARTS IN QUESTION FAIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT JOHN HARVEY TOYOTA (2901 BENTON RD, BOSSIER CITY, LA 71111, (318) 741-1337). THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALSO REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 25 MPH AND WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT STAY CENTERED AND THE POSITION WOULD CHANGE. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I WAS STOPPED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL HAD SOME MOVEMENT FROM SIDE TO SIDE. I CHECKED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK DOWN NUT AND IT WAS TIGHT. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A SPLINE BUSHING THAT MATCHES UP WITH A MATCHING SPLINE ON THE SHAFT SO I COULD NOT SEE HOW THIS COULD MOVE. I REMOVED THE LOCKING NUT SO I COULD SEE THE WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL AND SHAFT CONNECT TOGETHER. WITH THE NUT OFF I NOTICED THAT THE SPLINE BUSHING DID NOT MOVE BUT THE STEERING WHEEL DID MOVE ON THE BUSHING. THERE WAS A POTENTIAL DANGER OF THE STEERING WHEEL COMING LOOSE SO THAT I WOULD LOSE CONTROL OR WORSE YET THE STEERING WHEEL COULD COME COMPLETELY OFF THE COLUMN. THIS PROBLEM CAN EASILY BE CHECKED AS I DID WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE LOCKED POSITION. IF YOU HAVE ANY MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE LOCKED POSITION GET IT CHECKED IMMEDIATELY.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL THE SUDDEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND ALMOST WAS IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF NO POWER STEERING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND LOOKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LEAKING OUT OF MY TIE ROD BOOT. I IMMEDIATELY GOT TO MY TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY AUTOMATICALLY KNEW WHAT IT WAS, THE RACK AND PINION BLEW OUT. SO CLEARLY IT'S A TOYOTA THING I FIGURED. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT FIXED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY BUT I STARTED DOING RESEARCH ON FORUMS AND MANY FACEBOOK GROUPS DEVOTED TO TOYOTA TUNDRAS AND DAILY I SEE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR RACK AND PINION GOING OUT AND DAYS AFTER MY FRIEND ALSO HAD HIS GO OUT ON HIS TUNDRA. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM TOYOTA HAS AND IT EITHER NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OR FIXED SOMEHOW SO PEOPLE CAN BE SAFE AND NOT ALMOST GET IN AN ACCIDENT LIKE I DID. WHEN TOYOTA EVEN ACKNOWLEDGES IT AND REFUSES TO NOT FIX IT, THAT THROWS THE RED FLAG RIGHT THERE AND THEY CLEARLY UNDERSTAND IT'S A PROBLEM. THE FIX AMOUNTED TO $1937 DOLLARS ALSO.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS AND PULLING ONTO HIGHWAY THERE WAS NO POWER LIKE TRUCK WAS IN LIMP MODE AND TRACTOR TRAILOR HAD TO SWERVE OFF OF ROAD TO PREVENT SEVERE ACCIDENT. THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION HAS A SEVERE MAL FUNCTION WHICH TOYOTA ONLY RECOGNIZED IN EARLIER MODELS AND THEY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 10 YEAR AND 150,000 MILES. THIS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM I WISH SOMEONE WOULD INVESTIGATE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE AND LIVES ARE LOST. THERE IS NOT MUCH RESPONSE TIME TO MAKE A QUICK DECISION DURING THIS MOMENT. THANK YOU
VERY SERIOUS MALFUNCTION WITH AIR INJECTION PUMP. THIS HAPPENED TO OCCUR AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK. MULTIPLE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. $2000 PLUS IN REPAIRS FOR A VERY DANGEROUS AND APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH RECALLS ISSUED IN PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS OF TUNDRA AND OTHER MODELS OF TOYOTA TRUCKS.
THE TRAC OFF LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CANS ON AT THE SAME TIME. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 10 YEARS OF 150,000 MILES. IF IT WAS THE SECONDARY VALVES AND AIR PUMPS. I GOT A CALL BACK AND THEY SAID IT WAS, BIG MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS AN ISSUES WITH 100S OF TUNDRAS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GO OVER 60 OR GET TO 60 SAFELY. THE TOYOTA BLOGS ARE FULL OF TUNDRA OWNERS COMPLAINING. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
MY 2012 TUNDRA HAD A TRAC OFF AND ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM FOR NUMEROUS TOYOTA TUNDRA IN REGARDS TO FAILURE OF THE SECONDARY AIR VALVES AND PUMPS. I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE 10 YEAR , 150,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I URGE YOU TO FORCE TOYOTA TO ADD MY VIN NUMBER TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY VEHICLE CANNOT GO OVER 60 AND BE SAFE. IT WAS RAINING AND RAIN GOT INTO THE PUMP SYSTEM. TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THOUSANDS OF THESE BADLY DESIGNED SYSTEM AND MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE. IT COST OVER $2,000 TO REPLACE BADLY DESIGNED SYSTEM.
WHEN IN MOTION THE VEHICLE ENTERS LIMP MODE AND LOSES POWER. ACCELERATION BY PEDAL DOES NOT FUNCTION, THE ENGINE ONLY REVS AND DOES NOT SPEED UP. THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN TO ANYWHERE FROM 25 TO 5 MILES PER HOUR ON ITS OWN WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT. THIS HAPPENS ANYWHERE, HIGHWAY, STREET, DRIVING STRAIGHT, TURNING, ETC. NO WARNING. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM EQUATES TO SOMEONE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS!! I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE TODAY! TOYOTA IS AWARE AND HAS BEEN AWARE SINCE 2007 OF THE PROBLEM AND IS PLAYING WITH PEOPLES LIVES!! *TR
'12 TOYOTA TUNDRA APPEARS TO GO INTO LIMP MODE, BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SHIP, A RECALL WAS LISTED FOR SOMETHING, DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. HAD TO HAVE ABOUT $1,500OF WORK DONE. FIXED THE ISSUE....FOR 1.5 MONTHS. BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THROWING ALL THE SAME CODES FOR ALL THE SAME PARTS. CLEARLY THE PARTS BEING USED AREN'T A FIX TO THE PROBLEM, AND SEEMS LIKE MORE THAN JUST IS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. AT THIS POINT IT'S PLAYING WITH PEOPLES LIVES. TOYOTA DEALT WITH THIS WITH EARLIER MODELS BUT ANYTHING 2012 AND UP , NOTHING IS BEING DONE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF THESE TRUCKS GO INTO LIMP MODE ON A HIGHWAY AND THEY GET HIT AT 70-80 MILES AN HOUR FROM SOMETHING OUT OF THE DRIVERS CONTROL, THAT TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT. WHEN WILL A RECALL CONDO THIS, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
WHEN BRAKING THE SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND IF MY FOOT IS PLACE TO THE RIGHT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL I ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THUS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ACCELERATE WHEN I'M WANTING TO STOP. VERY DANGEROUS

IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A HESITATION IN RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. MY 2012 TUNDRA WITH 107K DISPLAYED THE CHECK ENGINE, 4LO, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS AND WOULD ONLY DRIVE IN 'LIMP MODE'. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED AT STARTUP WHEN I WAS LEAVING WORK ONE AFTERNOON, AND NOT AS I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I 'LIMPED' TO THE LOCAL DEALER USING BACK ROADS AND LEFT THE TRUCK FOR DIAGNOSIS. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE TRUCK WAS EXHIBITING CODE 'P2440' FOR A FAULTY SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM VALVE, AND THAT BOTH SECONDARY AIR PUMPS AND VALVES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $2500, BUT "LUCKILY" THE DEALER HAD THE PARTS IN STOCK BECAUSE THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. SINCE I NEEDED THE TRUCK TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK EACH DAY, AND I AM NOT READY TO REPLACE IT, I AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR AND PICKED IT UP THE NEXT DAY. SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH ON-LINE SHOWED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS. TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THESE PARTS FOR MY 2007-2011, AND LATER FOR CERTAIN 2012 VEHICLES AS WELL. UNFORTUNATELY, IT APPEARS THAT ONLY THE 2012S WITH THE 5.7L ENGINE ARE COVERED (MINE IS A 4.6L). FROM MY RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THAT THE PUMPS/VALVES IN MY TRUCK ARE THE EXACT SAME PARTS THAT ARE KNOWN TO FAIL (AND ARE COVERED) IN OTHER MODEL YEARS. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND OF COURSE THEY ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD 'LOG' THE ISSUE AND CONTACT ME SHOULD THE WARRANTY BE EXTENDED TO COVER MY TRUCK. JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS HERE, I FEEL THAT IT WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION AND PERHAPS APPLYING SOME 'EXTERNAL' PRESSURE TO PERSUADE TOYOTA TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND COVER ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN EMISSIONS ISSUE, BUT COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THE TRUCK WERE TO GO INTO LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN DASH LIGHTS LIT UP WHILE TRYING TO GET TO EXIT TRUCK WENT IN LIMP MODE LOST POWER COULD ONLY MANAGE ABOUT 40 MPH,GOT TO EXIT STOPPED.CALLED BROTHER IN LAW HE BROUGHT TRAILER AN WE LOADED TRUCK,STOPPED AT AUTO PARTS STORE AN THEY CHECKED CODE CAME BACK AS SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM, GOING INTO LIMP MODE WAS VERY SCARY NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE IF WOULD HAVE BEEN NECESSARY. BY FORUM'S I'VE READ TOYOTA KNOWS THEY HAVE A SERIOUS ISSUE BUT SEEMS THEY ONLY HELP CERTAIN YEARS.MY TRUCK IS 2012 WITH 93,111 MILES THEVE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SOME YEAR MODELS BUT TELL ME MINE ISNT ONE COVERED.THANK YOU
CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. 4LO SIGN FLASHED. VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE, SLOWING DOWN, AND AT TIMES CREEPING ALONG WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS A LARGE DECREASE IN PERFORMANCE ESPECIALLY GOING UP ANY SORT OF INCLINE. TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP AND WAS TOLD TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THIS MAKE/MODEL IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AT THIS TIME. I CALLED THE TOYOTA HOTLINE, AND THE WORKER VERIFIED SHE COULD SEE INFO ON THE RECALL TALKING ABOUT WARNING SIGNS -BUT THEY WERE NOT SPECIFIC. SHE FORWARDED ON MY INFORMATION TO ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL. THAT INDIVIDUAL CALLED TODAY, AND SHE ADVISED MY WARRANTY WAS OVER AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
I HAVE NOTICED AN OIL LEAK FROM THE CAMSHAFT HOUSING ON MY PASSENGER SIDE. THIS HAS LED TO OIL BURNING ON MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD.
I TOOK MY TUNDRA IN FOR A OIL CHANGE AND THE DEALER SHIP SAID I HAVE OIL LEAK AT THE TIMING BELT. IT WOULD BE OVER 1600.00 TO FIX THIS. IT IS TIME CONSUMING FOR THE LABOR RATE IS HIGH. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT.
A LIGHT CAME ON AND IT STARTED LOSING POWER. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS BAD GAS. I PUT THE CLEANER IN IT AND IT DIDN'T FIX IT. I HAD SOME BUDDIES TELL ME TO UNPLUG MY BATTERY BECAUSE IT SOUNDED LIKE A SAFETY FEATURE. SO I DID. THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE TRUCK ACTED RIGHT FOR A FEW MILES THEN STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. MY BUDDIES REFERRED TO IT AS A "LIMP MODE" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I WAS AFRAID TO HAVE IT WORKED ON BECAUSE I WAS TOLD IF THERE WAS A RECALL THE MANUFACTURER WOULDN'T BE LIABLE.
WHEN DRIVING MY CHECK ENGINE AND "TRAC OFF" LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINEER WILL NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE THIRTY MILES AN HOURS. IF YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RESET THE COMPUTER IT WILL WORK FOR ABOUT THREE MILE THEN THE CHECK ENGINE AND "TRAC OFF" LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS THE SAME INDICATION EARLIER TUNDRA MODELS HAVE WITH SECONDARY AIR INJECTORS RECALL. AN IT IS WIDELY DOCUMENTED ONLINE AS A PROBLEM FOR 2012 TUNDRA'S. YET TOYOTA CONTINUES TO DENIES IT'S A PROBLEM AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.
LEAKY TUNDRA CAM TOWER SEAL. TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT THEY USES A EPOXY TYPE SEAL THAT HAS BEEN FOUND TO LEAK, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH DIFFERENT TYPE OF GASKET SEAL..THE CHARGE FOR THIS APPROXIMATELY $ 5000.00 THAT THEY SAY IS THE CONSUMERS RESPONSIBILITY.
