TOYOTA - DEFECTIVE PLASTIC MATERIALS USED: THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR AND WHEEL WELL MELTED FROM THE SUN WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. TOYOTA FAILED TO USE QUALITY PLASTIC MATERIAL WITHOUT UV PROTECTION AND A HIGHER ENOUGH MELTING THRESHOLD, WHICH RESULTED IN THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR AND WHEEL FLAIR MELTING FROM HEAT OF SUN. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE, SHOULD SUN HEAT MELT A CAR PART WHICH SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND SUN HEAT OUTSIDE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA NORTH AMERICA REGARDING THIS MATTER. I INFORMED TOYOTA NA THAT I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN SEPTEMBER 2017 AND THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR AND WHEEL FLAIR MELTED IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE COMPANY OFFERED TO PAY $200 FOR AN $850 REPAIR. I REQUEST FULL REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR OF MY TOYOTA TUNDRA 2014, PLUS DAMAGES OF $2,400 DUE TO THE TIME FROM WORK THAT WAS REQUIRED TO ADDRESS THIS MATTER WITH THE DEALER AND TOYOTA NA.
THREE DIFFERENT POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK, FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK AND REAR RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK DO NOT OPEN OR CLOSE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON MY WAY TOP WORK WHEN THE SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED. I WAS ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY WITH LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC AROUND ME. NOTHING HIT THE GLASS, IT JUST BLEW UP. I READ ONLINE THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLAINT ON THIS MAKE AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS. COST TO REPAIR IS IN EXCESS OF $800.00. AT 40,000 MILES ALL 4 DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 73 MPH, ALL THE SIDE AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (PAT LOBB'S TOYOTA OF MCKINNEY, LOCATED AT 3350 S CENTRAL EXPY, MCKINNEY, TX 75070; (214) 544-8696) WHO STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AT 800-331-4331 AND STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1706122994. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE FIVE LUG NUTS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL DETACHED. AS A RESULT, THE TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK A PARKED VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTIFIED THE OWNER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000.
VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF GAS (ENGINE REVVED) AND ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN CAUSING VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT DURING WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS AND SENT VEHICLE SMASHING INTO CEMENT BARRIER. VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN SINCE DRIVING OFF LOT IN NOVEMBER, 2016. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, BUT IT'S CLEARLY AN ACCELERATION ISSUE. I'VE ALSO TESTED THIS AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT NEARLY 1.5 MILES FROM MY HOME, MOSTLY UP HILL WITHOUT EVEN STEPPING ON THE GAS. IN ADDITION, MY REAR TIRES SPIN WHEN IN DRIVE WHEN ON SNOW OR ICE WHEN NOT ENGAGING THE GAS PEDAL. ENGINE REVS WHILE THIS HAPPENS, AS IT DID DURING MY COLLISION. TOYOTA CURRENTLY HAS VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT THIS CASE WAS ESCALATED TO CORPORATE DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES. *TR

A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA, WITH TIRE BRAND BRIDGESTONE DUELER ALENZA,TIRE IS STARTING PEEL OFF, LOOK DRY AND PART OF TIRE ARE COMING OFF,THE MILEAGE IN THE TRUCK IS ONLY 32,000,MILES BEARLEY HAS HALF OF THE LIFE OF THE TIRE ACCORDING TO BRIDGESTONE MILES WARRANTY WHICH IS 60,000 TO 70,000 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A DIRT ROAD AND I HIT A POTHOLE GOING AROUND 5TO8 MPH AND MY AIR DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. BOTH SIDE CURTAINS STEERING AND BELOW THE WHEEL DEPLOYED
THE STEERING WHEEL WOOD PORTION IS STARTING TO CRACK IN 2 DIFFERENT PLACES. ASKED TOYOTA SERVICES IF THEY HAD EVER SEEN ONE CRACKING. ANSWER WAS NO. ONLY REMEDY IS CHANGE THE STEERING WHEEL ($$)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE GEAR SHIFTER MOVED OUT OF GEAR AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY. IN ADDITION, WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS LIQUID ON THE GEAR SHIFTER, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL 'GO TO THE FLOOR' UNDER FIRM FOOT PRESSURE AT EXTENDED STOP LIGHTS OR WHEN IN SLOW STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE OF BEING STOPPED THE PEDAL WILL 'GIVE' AND SLOWLY SINK TO THE FLOOR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
THE REMOTE CONTROL DOES NOT LOCK THE 2 BACK DOORS. TOYOTA SAYS IT IS THE ACTUATORS IN THE DOORS AND WANT ME TO PAY HALF THE TOTAL COST WHICH IS $1000. HOW IS THIS MY FAULT? THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINTS

WAS TALKING TO MY FRIEND IN THE FRONT SEAT AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED . WINDOW WAS ALL THE WAY UP . WAS ONLY ONE OTHER CAR NEXT TO US . BED OF THE TRUCK WAS EMPTY AND NOTHING TO HIT IT . JUST EXPLODED OUT OF KNOW WHERE . GLASS MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT FLOORBOARD . NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN . SPECIALLY FOR A NEW TRUCK . BOUGHT WITH 3 MILES ON IT . AND FOR $43,000. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN . CALLED DEALERSHIP WHERE I GOT TRUCK AND THEY TRIED SELLING ME NEW GLASS . NOT REPLACING UNDER WARRANTY . NOT TO HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME SO FAR .
WHEN BACKING OUT OF GAS STATION, PASSENGER SIDE TIRE FELL OFF COMPLETELY FROM ROTOR. ON THE ROTOR CHROME LIKE PIECES OF LUG NUT RETAINED ON. REMAINING LUG-NUTS WHERE INSIDE TIRE WELL. WHEN TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO ORIGINAL PURCHASE DEALERSHIP THEY DID NOT CLAIM NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECALL ON LUGNUTS WITH OUR TRUCK. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO PAY FOR COST ASSOCIATED WITH DEFECTED ITEM AND REFUSING TO FIX OR ADDRESS
TIRE TREAD SPLIT IN HALF AND NOW TIRE IS DISCONTINUED. *TR
2014 TUNDRA 1794 EDITION PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2014 HAS APPROXIMATELY 9400 MILES. THE DASHBOARD IS WARPED & SINKING ALONG LENGTH OF WINDSHIELD. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. MANUFACTURER STATES THIS DEFECT IS WITHIN SPECIFICATION WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES. THE DASHBOARD HAS SANK SO MUCH THAT THERE IS AN IMPRINT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN DASHBOARD THAT IS VISIBLE DUE TO WARPING & SAGGING OF DASHBOARD. I AM CONCERNED IT MAY AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IF THE SINKING AND WARPING OF THE DASHBOARD WERE TO CONTINUE. TOYOTA HAD PAST ISSUES WITH WARPED DASHBOARDS ON EARLIER MODELS OF TUNDRA AND HAD ISSUED TSB'S (TSB-0391-09-IMPROVED A-PILLAR GARNISH) IN RESPONSE. IT APPEARS THIS DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN FULLY ADDRESSED AS THEY STATE OTHER NEW TUNDRA'S THEY INSPECTED ON DEALERSHIP LOT HAVE THE SAME WARPED & SINKING DASHBOARD. ADDITIONALLY, A PLASTIC PART ON STEERING WHEEL IS LOOSE WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED AFFECTING STEERING AND OPERATION OF VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER (TOYOTA) STATES THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE VEHICLE AND HAS SUGGESTED I PURSUE ARBITRATION UNDER LEMON LAW FOR THE VEHICLE. AT THIS STAGE, ALL I AM ASKING FOR IS FOR THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER (TOYOTA) REFUSES TO DO SO DESPITE KNOWING FULL WELL THERE IS A HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL DOOR LOCK SYSTEMS ON TRUCKS. NAMELY DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS. I HAD A 2012 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2 ACTUATORS WENT OUT. NOW A 2014 TUNDRA DRIVERS DOOR ACTUATOR WENT BAD AT 6 MONTHS. SURE TOYOTA WILL FIX THIS IF YOUR IN WARRANTY. AFTER THAT IT'S MY $400-500 BILL. IT'S WIDELY KNOW ON THE INTERNET THESE ACTUATORS A FAULTY BUT TOYOTA JUST KEEPS PUTTING THESE ON NEW TRUCKS. IF THESE ARE NOT WORKING I COULD GET CAR JACKED. CAN I GET OUT IF IN AN ACCIDENT, AS I HAVE TO REMEMBER TO MANUALLY FLIP THE LEVER TO GET OUT. WHEN YOU FIRST START THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN DRIVE, WITHIN 20 SECONDS AT ANY SPEED, A LOUD PING/METAL HITTING METAL SOUND COMES FROM THE REAR GEAR DIFFERENTIAL BOX. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME AT ANY TAKEOFF SPEED. TOYOTA AND MY DEALER DO NOT BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM.

DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. FELT WOBBLY . THE KIND OF FEELING WHEN DRIVING ON FLAT TIRES. DID NOT STOP EVEN WHEN I SLOWED DOWN HAD TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER. RECEIVED TOYOTA URGENT SAFETY RECALL LETTER FOR DEFECTIVE SIDE CURTAIN-SHIELD-AIRBAGS (CSA) ON 11/7/14. CONTACTED MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TODAY (11/10/14) TO SCHEDULE INSPECTION AND GARNISH REPLACEMENT, AS NECESSARY. HAD TO SPEAK TO FOUR SERVICE REPS BEFORE TALKING TO [XXX], SERVICE DEPT. MGR. HE INFORMED ME THEY DON'T HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THIS RECALL AND THAT LETTERS HAVE GONE OUT ALREADY SIMPLY TO "BEAT" THE PRESS. NO PARTS AVAILABILITY DATE WAS OFFERED. THEY WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE BUT EXPECT THE CUSTOMER TO MAKE A SECOND TRIP TO SHOP WHEN REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE ACTUALLY AVAILABLE. CLASSIC EXAMPLE, IN OUR OPINION, HOW MUCH THESE RECALLS HAVE BECOME A GAME BETWEEN CAR MANUFACTURERS AND OVERSIGHT AGENCIES. THE IS AN A/C AND HEATER ISSUE OR HOW ITS VENTING. I'LL HAVE THE SETTINGS TO POINT THE THE FLOOR YET ITS STILL COMING OUT OF THE FRONT VENTS. ITS JUST ANNOYING. ALSO THE BACK SEAT DOESN'T GET THE CORRECT TEMPERATURES WHILE THE FRONT SEATS ARE EITHER FREEZING OR BURNING UP, DEPENDING ON THE SEASON.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA, AND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO PROVIDE A VIEW OF THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW, CAUSING REDUCED VISIBILITY AND THEREFORE INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD OF ACCIDENTS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND THE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FITTED WITH A MIRROR THAT IS LARGE ENOUGH TO PROVIDE A VIEW OF THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ONLY 10 MPH, SHE SLIGHTLY CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BARELY CLIPPED THE TAIL LIGHT OF THE OTHER VEHICLE BUT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRUMBLED ON IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE CAUSE FOR THE DRASTIC DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,689.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V429000 (WHEEL). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS SERVICE OXIDATION WHICH WAS NORMAL ON THE LUG NUTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DECLINED TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800.
WHEN I PURCHASED MY TRUCK NEW AND WAS ON MY WAY HOME I NOTICED A VERY SMALL DENT ON THE TOP SIDE OF MY BED. I DECIDED NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT AS IT WAS BARELY VISIBLE NOR DID I WANT SOMEBODY TO DO BODYWORK TO FIX IT. LONGEVITY ISSUES WITH AFTER THE FACT BODY AND PAINT WORK. UNFORTUNATELY AS TIME WENT ON AND I WAS USING MY TRUCK IT STARTED DEVELOPING MORE DENTS ON THE TOP SIDE OF MY BED. I NOW HAVE 5 OR MORE ON EACH SIDE. I HAVE NEVER HIT THE SIDE OF MY BED WITH ANYTHING. BESIDES, ALL THE DENTS ARE THE SAME IN APPEARANCE. TOYOTA SAYS ITS MY PROBLEM NOT THEIRS AS IT APPEARS TO BE OF AN OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. I HAVE SEEN OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MINE. JUST NOT AS BAD. THE TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO HANDLE 1300 TO 1800 LBS IN THE BED BUT WHEN I LOAD IT WITH APPROXIMATELY 1,000 LBS IT BOTTOMS OUT OVER SPEED BUMPS. I THINK THIS IS WHERE THE ISSUES ARE COMING FROM. THE BED IS FLEXING DUE TO BAD ENGINEERING AND MATERIALS AND CAUSING RIPPLES IN THE BED. THE ABOVE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON 07/06/2014 AT ABOUT 2100 HOURS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME, WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY FIVE MILES AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY AND ON 07/07/2014 RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A POOL OF FLUID UNDER THE PARKED VEHICLE. UPON EXAMINATION I FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE HAD LEAKED A LARGE AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (FRONTIER TOYOTA VALENCIA CA.) I WAS CONTACTED LATER THAT SAME DAY AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A FAULTY TRANSMISSION SEAL WHICH ALLOWED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THEY ALSO ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD LOST TEN OUNCES OF TRANSMISSION FLUID. I PURCHASED A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA IN NOVEMBER 2013. IN MARCH 2014, WITH 2,248 MILES ON THE TRUCK, I WENT TO LEAVE WORK AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT RODENTS HAD CHEWED THROUGH TWO WIRING HARNESSES (E.G., #7 COIL, TEMP SENSOR AND THE ACTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER), ONE OF WHICH WAS THE MAIN WIRE HARNESS. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN OPERATION (WITH MOSTLY CHEWED THROUGH WIRING) THE WIRING COULD HAVE BECOME LOOSE AND THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE LOST STEERING, BRAKES, OR OTHER CRITICALLY IMPORTANT SAFETY FUNCTIONS MAY HAVE CEASED TO WORK. THE END RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN A CRASH, FIRE, INJURY, OR EVEN DEATH. USING A SOY BASED PRODUCT TO COAT THE WIRES IS A DESIGN FLAW WHICH MUST BE CORRECTED. ALTHOUGH THE INTENT WAS TO UTILIZE A MORE ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY INSULATION MATERIAL, THE DESIGN ENGINEERS OMITTED TO CONSIDER THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF THE ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY INSULATION MATERIAL TO RODENTS (E.G., SQUIRRELS, MICE, AND RABBITS), THE RODENTS ARE COMMON IN MOST RESIDENTIAL AREAS IN THE UNITED STATES, AND THE RODENTS COULD EASILY DAMAGE THE WIRES. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALER (STAPP INTERSTATE TOYOTA SCION OF FREDERICK COLORADO) SERVICE MANAGER, TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER, TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC. CUSTOMER RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR, AND TOYOTA MOTOR SALES REGIONAL CUSTOMERFIRST MANAGER. EACH TIME TOYOTA IS DENYING OWNERSHIP OF THEIR DEFECTIVE WIRES AND THE SAFETY-RELATED NEED TO CORRECT THEM. *TR
THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN FULLY APPLIED, BEGAN FAILING TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE A WEEK AFTER PURCHASE. THE PARKING BRAKE HAS BEEN ADJUSTED TWICE BY THE DEALER. THE PARKING BRAKE PETAL WHILE FULLY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, DOES NOT APPEAR STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE, ESPECIALLY WHEN PARKED ON A HILL. THE DEALER TRIED TO ADJUST THE PARKING BRAKE TIGHTER DURING A WARRANTY REPAIR ON 7/25/2015 . AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS READJUSTED AGAIN BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY TO IT'S NORMAL POSITION. THE PARKING BRAKE CONTINUES TO FAIL TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE.
I PURCHASED A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA ON 02/04/14. I HAD DRIVEN THE TRUCK APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES AND ON 02/10/14, WITH 236 MILES, I STARTED THE TRUCK TO GO TO WORK. I WENT BACK IN MY HOUSE, AS THE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 0 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND ALLOWED THE TRUCK TO RUN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. I RETURNED TO MY TRUCK AND LEFT FOR WORK. AFTER DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK ENTERED "LIMP MODE." I WAS NOT FAR FROM WORK SO I CONTINUED TO WORK, DRIVING AT A MAX SPEED OF 40 MPH. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND ADVISED THEM OF THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. ON 2/12/14 I PICKED THE TRUCK UP FROM THE DEALER. I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN AIP (AIR INJECTION PUMP) FAILURE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THERE IS NO FIX, AND THE PROBLEM COULD HAPPEN AGAIN IN COLD CLIMATE. AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE, I GOT NOWHERE. I WAS TOLD THERE IS A FIX IN THE WORKS, BUT FOR NOW I AM LEFT WITH A TRUCK THAT MAY GO INTO LIMP MODE WHEN IT IS COLD OUT. LIVING IN THE NORTH EASTERN UNITED STATES, IT IS COLD HERE FROM OCTOBER TO MID-MARCH. IF THIS TRUCK WERE TO SUDDENLY ENTER LIMP MODE WHEN I AM ATTEMPTING TO ASCEND A HILL, THIS COULD PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE TO MYSELF AND OTHER MOTORISTS, AS I WOULD SEVERELY BE IMPEDING THE SAFE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, GOING 10 MPH UPHILL, WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A WARNING. I FEEL THE SUDDEN REDUCTION IN POWER COULD GREATLY REDUCE THE OPERATORS ABILITY TO SAFELY OPERATE THE TRUCK, ESPECIAL WHEN NEGOTIATING TRAFFIC. IT IS EXTREMELY DISHEARTENING TO ME TO KNOWING THAT I BOUGHT A $39,000 TRUCK, TOUTED AS BEING AMONG THE MOST RELIABLE AND DEPENDABLE, THAT MAY OR MAY NOT RUN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FALLS..AND AFTER SPEAKING WITH TOYOTA, THEY KNOW IT IS A PROBLEM.. *TR

THIS IS PROBABLY NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AS OF YET BUT COULD TURN INTO ONE. I BOUGHT A NEW TUNDRA 2014 IN JAN. 2014 FROM COMMUNITY TOYOTA IN BAYTOWN, TEXAS. THE VERY FIRST TIME I GET IN THE TRUCK TO COME HOME THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD FOR ME. THE SALESMAN GOT THE SERVICE PEOPLE TO LOOK AT IT AND HE FOOLED WITH IT TILL IT STARTED TO MOVE. AFTER BRINGING THE TRUCK HOME I HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE SEAT TO MOVE AGAIN. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MAN SAID THAT IT LOOKED NORMAL TO HIM. THE SERVICE MANAGER CAME OUT AND SAID THAT THEY HAD ME A NEW SEAT ORDERED AND WOULD NOTIFY US WHEN IT CAME IN. THAT WAS IN FEB.2014. IN MAY THEY SAID IT WOULD BE HERE AROUND THE 27TH. ON JUNE 20TH I CALLED AND THEY SAID IT WAS THERE. WE TOOK IT DOWN TO THE DEALER AT 9 AM AND THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 5 HOURS. WHEN WE CAME BACK MY HUSBAND WENT OUT TO TEST THE SEAT AND IT STILL DIDN'T MOVE FREELY. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THIS NORMAL FOR THIS TRUCK. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS MAN THE NEXT MORNING. HE SAID THAT THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE ON THESE TRUCKS TO KEEP THE DRIVER FROM BEING THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I THOUGHT THAT THAT WAS WHAT SEAT BELTS WERE FOR? HE SAID THAT HE WOULD GO DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CHECK OUT SOME OF THE TRUCKS THERE BUT I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING FROM HIM AND THAT WAS ON JUNE 24TH. HE ALSO SAID THAT THE SEAT HANDLE BAR ON THE TUNDRA HAD TO BE GRABBED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BAR. THAT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO MOVE. MY HUSBAND IS NOT DISABLED SO HE CAN GRAB IT IN THE MIDDLE AND IT STILL WILL NOT WORK. BECAUSE OF MY DISABILITY I CAN'T REACH BETWEEN MY LEGS TO GRAB THE BAR THERE. I WALK WITH A CANE AND AM HAVING A HIP REPLACEMENT SOON. HE SAID THAT HE WOULD CHECK OUT OUR TRUCK PERSONALLY THE NEXT TIME WE WHERE IN TOWN. WE LIVE 2 HOURS AWAY. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS TROUBLE. *TR
