Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Toyota Tundra through a private sale. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 171,837. After obtaining a Carfax report, the contact discovered that the vehicle mileage was 186,000.
Airflow into the hood bulge strained the thinly built brackets causing them to break and subsequently causes the bulge to pop loose when driving.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Tundra. The contact observed that an object was hanging down from the rear wheel well on the driver's side. The contact inspected and saw that the rear fuel tank strap had rusted and detached from the frame. The contact stated that part of the fuel tank was resting on the skid plate. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.
I purchased the truck thinking it had 80k miles it’s was misrepresented by the dealer I got it from in reality it should’ve been 280k miles. I don’t have the money to go after them as I spent it on the truck and timing chains as well as some other repairs. They will likely flee the country if they find out I was to go after them anyway
purchased a 2014 toyota tundra on Facebook Marketplace from an individual on 4/27/2025 The seller represented the mileage as 88,461 miles, but after reviewing the vehicle history through Carfax/AutoCheck, I discovered that the actual mileage is significantly higher. The odometer appears to have been rolled back. I have filed a police report regarding this fraud and am submitting this complaint to report the tampering. I have supporting documentation including the listing, communication with the seller, and the vehicle history report.
The sidewall of my tire completely blew out on a flat, clear road. Leaving my neighborhood, I heard a questionable sound that I thought may be ice build up on my mudflap rubbing against the tire. I continued to monitor my suspicion, as it was hard to tell whether there was actually a sound, or if it was in my head. Turning out of my neighborhood, I continued listening for anything suspicious. After feeling like I was in the clear, I brought the truck up to 45-50mph. Suddenly, the truck began bouncing like crazy, and I was able to manage pulling off to the side of the road. The shoulder was only a couple feet wide, followed by a steep hill, so my truck was sticking out into the road quite far, and it was night time. I sprung into action as quickly as possible to minimize risk as I went to change the tire and replace with the spare. Since it was night time, and the road only had one lane in each direction, there were at least 3 times that my car / myself were almost rammed into, or the car approaching me wasn't able to see cars approaching from the other direction, and almost caused a head on collision. There hasn't been an official inspection of the tire yet. There were no warning lamps prior to the failure. The only symptoms of the problem were a suspected sound that may or may not have actually been there. Tire size: 275-55R-20
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while comparing the real Carfax to the fake Carfax provided by the private seller, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The private seller also provided a fake vehicle title, which allowed the vehicle to be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Additionally, the original seller of the vehicle confirmed the mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase and registration, the vehicle mileage was 111,000, but it was later discovered that the mileage was 230,000.
I bought my 2014 Toyota Tundra in March 2014, with no chips or peeling paint. Fast-forward a couple of months, the paint around the top side of the windshield is chipping and peeling. Living in a state that gets snow & ice, I am concerned about the potential for rust. Toyota is aware of the issue with their Super White paint with other models (Service Bulletin 23TE08), such as the following: 2008–2009 Lexus GX 470 2008–2017 Toyota Avalon 2008–2017 Toyota Camry 2008–2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid 2008–2017 Toyota RAV4 2009–2018 Toyota Corolla 2010–2015 Toyota 4Runner 2011–2015 Scion xB 2012–2015 Scion iQ It is nonsensical to omit other models using the same Super White paint from this recall.
Not sure how long the paint has been peeling on the truck, but the truck is immaculate except for the peeling paint. The paint was peeling at time of purchase, and we were told by dealer that it was covered as Toyota had issues with their white paint. After purchase, we were told that Toyota wouldn't cover it. The peeling paint is not localized to one spot but peeling on every panel. It is peeling off the top and all sides. The vehicle has always been stored under cover. We have never had a vehicle peel as this and have inquired with a few body shops that relate it to manufacturer defect and that the entire truck will have to be stripped and repainted to correct the problem. There were several models of Toyotas during 2014 that had the white paint related issues that Toyota corrected. Not sure, why the white paint on the Tundra’s wasn't included as it clearly has the same problems. After internet searching and speaking with dealers, this is a widespread issue. The truck is available for inspection. Peeling paint can pose several safety issues, especially with children. It also will cause premature aging of the vehicle making it more susceptible to rust and deterioration. The problem has been inspected and confirmed with a dealer.
Found Truck bed floor rust corrosion in the bed of 2014 tundra. Bed has localized corrosion and rust perforation in specific areas on the top side of the bed. Bed assembly does not appear to have been properly sealed using hemming and sealing procedures outlined in CRIB bulletin:163 sealing Hem-flanges and body seams. The truck bed underside is rust free except where the bed sections were welded and sealed together. Truck is garage kept and has been undercoated with fluid film annually since I purchased in 2017. Truck only has 45,800 miles on it. Rust is forming in between the seems and spreading under the bed supports and around the bolts that secure the bed to the truck frame. I am concerned that the bed may become loose and fall off while driving down the highway if not replaced or repaired properly. Toyota had a TSB 0101-12 for older model tundras years 2007-2011. The service manager at my local Toyota dealership acknowledges the issue and agrees that the issue is unacceptable. Dealer also stated that this issue is common on generation 3 Tundra vehicles. I am currently working with Toyota Customer care to resolve this safety concern. Local dealer will not authorize repair due to vehicle age even though issue is a manufacturing defect.
My Tundra 2014 have vibration during light to hard braking. The vibration can felt in any combination, Steering wheel, seat, and entire vehicle. To can fell over a large or short rang of speed. The truck have a new rotors and New break pads (I change twice in 2 years helps a little bit but not fix the problem). I purchased the truck on 2023 and come with this issue, i tried to many shops and no one can find the problem until i see some complaints for the same problem, this maybe to late, i hope some cam help me please.
The driver’s seat heat connection appeared to have an electrical failure and appears burned.
There is fuel leaking from above the fuel tank. This is an immediate hazard in my book. The tank is half full at this point in time. I believe it is leaking from the fuel pressure switching valve. No warning lights are illuminated at this time. I will confirm that this weekend when I remove the fuel tank to inspect. I have a photo of the leak but it is too large to upload. I will gladly email it to you. I am an ASE certified technician.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn, the maintenance required warning light was illuminated. The contact then stated that after he made it to his destination, he checked under the hood of the vehicle and noticed that the power steering pump was leaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front power coolant line and an unknown gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The consumer stated there was a recall but was not covered at the dealer due to the power coolant line not being covered. The vehicle was repaired at Autobody shop at the owners expense.
While driving my rear sliding window just dropped about a foot. Luckily it didn't shatter or hurt anyone. When rear panel was accessed found pulley cable that holds window up had broken off its plastic retainer in the window regulator.
First the break keeps broken. I was told the master cylinder for the break needs to be replaced. This is after I spend thousands to work on breaks at dealer. Second, the window does not close. I thought it might be caused by a broken breaker BUT, none of the breaker is bad. Thirdly, the most frustrated thing is the transmission fails to work. The truck is dead on the street. I sent the truck to dealer to replace the transmission to a new one. After it is done. I drove it on the street and just a few days later, the transmission is failed again and Gear shifting stick failed to work as soon as it is out of dealer parking lot. Dealer repair department told me I need to put money out to buy another transmission. They said transmission oil line is broken, and it caused transmission not to be covered by any wanrrenty. .
The grill cowling has plastic pins that attach to hood. Grill cowling is the part that sets above actual grill via bolts, and plastic pins. The grill cowling is constantly popping out , plastic pins not holding. Have read on line that others are having this problem. If grill cowling becomes loose while traveling, and breaks or snaps off it will be airborne could cause vehicle crashes. Has not been inspected by manufacture, police, insurance reps or others. Is available for inspection.
In the course of cleaning my vehicle, I noticed corrosion on edge of door sill (emanating from under inside rubber door seal) of my 2014 Toyota Tundra on June 13, 2021. After removing the plastic scuff plate and rubber door seal, it was apparent that openings from the underside of the vehicle into the cabin are present from the design/manufacturing process - these opening are not sealed. The openings are not a result of corrosion but rather are associated with the geometry of the floor pan at the floor pan to rocker pinch weld - it is not a sealed surface. After removing the rubber seal I was able to look downward into the openings and see daylight from the underside of the cabin. Electrical cabling is immediately adjacent to these openings beneath the plastic scuff plate. It was apparent that the openings permit water and salt infiltration into the cabin, and would appear to be the primary cause of corrosion and build up of salt residues in the cabin and door sill area. My first impression was the condition that I observed was a manufacturing defect. On reflection many questions came to mind including: was the infiltration of water, salt and potentially exhaust through the openings in the floor pan going to have safety consequences - would the deterioration of the body structure as a result of corrosion have consequences in the event of a crash, or would the potential infiltration of exhaust gases affect the safety of cabin occupants? In following up the dealer and manufacturer over the last week, no resolution has been found . Owing to the age I was advised that there was no warranty coverage. The dealer reportedly inspected other Tundras and the design/manufacturing conditions (ie. opening in the floor pan) were the same as I had observed. It was only through my own initiative that I identified a Manufacturer Communication (NHTSA ID 10173991) that shed some light on the issue.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO IRA TOYOTA OF ORLEANS (16 O'CONNOR RD, ORLEANS, MA 02653, (774) 801-7100) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE LUG NUTS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V311000 (WHEELS) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 163,000.
GLOSS COATING ON STEERING WHEEL HAS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE AREAS, HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE HAS BECOME UNCOMFORTABLE. MOST RECENT CRACK IS ABOUT 2MM WIDE AND GOES ALL AROUND THE WOODEN GLOSS PART OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND I FEEL THAT IF THIS CONTINUES MY STEERING WHEEL WILL BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE UNEVENNESS AND POSSIBLY CAUSE SOME PIECES TO FALL OFF MY STEERING WHEEL.
ENGINE HAS DEVELOPED CAM TOWER OIL LEAK THAT IS DRIPPING ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. PER TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER "POTENTIALLY BE A DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH THE 5.7 ENGINES TOYOTA USES ACROSS MULTIPLE VEHICLE MODELS. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DESIGN DEFECT THAT IS RESULTING IN A SAFETY HAZARD.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A NOTIFICATION FOR NO TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON. THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 50MPH, AND STRUGGLED TO GO UP HILLS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S THE AIR INJECTION VALVES. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE PARTS AND FOUND THAT IT IS COMMON FOR THEM TO GO BAD, AND THAT TOYOTA HAS PUT OUT A MEMO STATING THAT IT WOULD BE A COVERED REPAIR FOR VEHICLES UP TO THE 2010 MODELS WITH UP TO 150,000 MILES. IN MY RESEARCH I FOUND THAT IT STILL CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE EVEN IN LATER MODELS. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA THAT IF THEY KNOW THIS IS A CONSISTENT ISSUE THAT THEY SHOULD RECALL THE PART. SINCE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH LIMITED POWER I HAD TO USE MY HAZARD LIGHTS UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION.
TRUCK WAS IN TOYOTA SHOP IN VERMONT FOR STALLING OF VEHICLE. THOUGHT IT WAS FUEL PUMP DUE TO RECENT RECALL - SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF IT COULD BE THAT AND WAS TOLD NO. THEY FOUND MICE NEST IN INTAKE MANIFOLD, KNOCK SENSOR WAS FOUND TO BE CHEWED, AND REPLACED. ONCE I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE, IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING AFTER 2 DAYS. UPON LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD, FOUND THAT THE AIR INTAKE FILTER WAS LEFT OFF. I FIXED THAT, AND THEN THE SAME ISSUE STARTING OCCURRING AGAIN. HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO DIFFERENT SHOP (TO TRUSTED MECHANIC) THEY HAVE FOUND AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY AND A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, THAT IT IS TRULY IN FACT THE FUEL PUMP. THEY TESTED FUEL PUMP AND IT'S ONLY PUTTING OUT 20PSI INSTEAD OF 40. I CALLED TOYOTA, BUT THEY ARE CLAIMING THAT ONLY THE NEWER TOYOTAS ARE AFFECTED, BUT ON THE RECALL LIST IT GOES BACK TO 2013 IN DIFFERENT MODELS. THIS SEEMS SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE SUBARU WAS HAVING WITH THEIR AIR BAGS. MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, SHOULD NOT JUST BE ASSUMING THAT THIS COULDN'T BE CORRELATED WITH FAULTY FUEL PUMP. MY VEHICLES SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS WHAT THE RECALL HAS STATED HAPPENS. BEFORE DENYING ME ANYTHING, THEY SHOULD BE WILLING TO AT LEAST INVESTIGATE AND LOOK AT MY VEHICLE. IT'S ALSO SUSPICIOUS TO ME THAT MY VEHICLE STARTED DOING THIS ABOUT 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO A HUGE SAFETY RECALL COMING OUT IN REGARDS TO FUEL PUMPS.
GOT A PRETTY MAJOR FUEL LEAK LEAKING OUT OF LEFT SIDE BEHIND DRIVERS DOOR COMING OUT OF THE FRAME RAIL. HAS AROUND 120,000 MILES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT'S THE FUEL PUMP COMPUTER, NO WARRANTY OR TSB. SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE WARRANTABLE BECAUSE IT'S SAFETY RELATED. TRUCK COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE IF SOMEBODY FLIPPED A CIGARETTE UNDER IT IN TRAFFIC. IT'S A STEADY DRIP ABOUT ONE DRIP PER SECOND WHILE THE TRUCK IS RUNNING. AFTER YOU SHUT IT OFF, THE LEAK STOPS AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES AS IT DEPRESSURIZES. *TR
2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH 180,000 MILES. THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK AT TIMES WHEN BRAKE IS PRESSED. I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE TRUCK MANY TIMES TO LEAVE MY HOUSE AND WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE TO TAKE IT OUT OF PARK IT WILL NOT UNLOCK THE SHIFTER. I HAVE TO PRESS AND RELEASE THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE SHIFTER IS UNLOCKED.
THREE FACTORY INSTALLED RIMS DEVELOPED CRACKS REQUIRING ALL RIMS TO BE REPLACED. TOYOTA DETERMINED THE CRACKS WERE CAUSED BY ME. I STRONGLY DISAGREE AND BELIEVE THE CRACKS REPRESENT A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR ALL EXISTING RIMS STILL ON THE ROAD TODAY. *TR
TOYOTA HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THEIR 5.7 L V8 ENGINE WITH THE CAM SHAFT TOWERS LEAKING OIL ONTO THE EXHAUST WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD. THIS IS A RESULT OF THEM NOT APPLYING ENOUGH SEALANT AT THE FACTORY, WHICH WAS CONFIRMED TO ME BY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. TOYOTA REFUSES TO COVER THE ISSUES EVEN THOUGH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ISSUE ONLINE, CLASS ACTION SUITS HAVE BEEN OPENED AND THERE IS A PETITION ONLINE TO GET THEM TO RECALL THIS ISSUE WITH OVER 6,000 SIGNATURES. MINE PERSONALLY HAS THE OIL LEAK AND I CAN SMELL BURNING OIL EVERY TIME I GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A LARGE OIL BURN STAIN ON THE EXHAUST WHERE THE OIL IS FALLING. APPARENTLY IT'S GOING TO TAKE A FIRE AND SOMEONE TO GET HURT BEFORE TOYOTA RECOGNIZES THIS ISSUE AND FIXES IT.
MY 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA (1794) HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT/PERIODIC LOSS OF FRONT HEADLIGHTS (AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING),INSTRUMENT LIGHTING AND RADIO AND NAVIGATION SIMULTANEOUS REBOOTING, WHEN TURNING ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL. IN MOST OCCASIONS, EVERYTHING RESTORES ONCE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AUTOMATICALLY STOPS ONCE TURN IS COMPETED. AT TIMES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE IMMEDIATELY AFTER OCCURRENCE BUT MOST OF THE TIME I AM NOT ABLE TO. THIS CREATES AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT IN AREAS NOT WELL LIT AS YOU EXPERIENCE IMMEDIATE LOSS OF ABILITY TO SEE PEDESTRIANS, OBJECTS AND ROAD WHEN ENTERING AND GOING THROUGH THE TURN. UPON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER (UNIVERSAL TOYOTA - SAN ANTONIO, TX), THEY STATED THEY TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE UNSAFE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME. THE SAME EVENING IT WAS RETURNED TO ME, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN WHICH I WAS ABLE TO RECORD. IN LOOKING AT ONLINE FORUMS, THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN TO MANY TOYOTA OWNERS, ALL EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES AND ALL STATING TOYOTA DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND RETURNED THE UNSAFE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION TO THE RADIO AND NAVIGATION REBOOTING AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, THE RADIO AND NAVIGATION ALSO REBOOTS RANDOMLY AND BECAUSE THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE WHEN I TAKE IT IN, NOTHING GETS FIXED (HAVE VIDEO OF THAT AS WELL). I WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED TO VERIFY I HAD THE LATEST UPDATE (WHICH I DID) AND THEN WAS TOLD THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE WITH PEOPLE WITH IPHONES. THIS IS ALSO A KNOWN PROBLEM ON MANY ONLINE FORUMS WITH THE SAME RESOLUTION BY TOYOTA - DID NOTHING. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO COMPROMISE THEIR SAFETY (LIGHTS GOING OUT AT NIGHT) NOR SHOULD THEY WAIT UNTIL WARRANTIES ARE EXPIRED TO THEN HAVE TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY TO CORRECT WELL KNOWN SIMILAR PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY TOYOTA OWNERS,
APPLE IPHONE WILL NOT ALLOW BLUETOOTH TO FUNCTION WITH TOYOTA ENTUNE SYSTEM. SYSTEM CONTINUES TO REBOOT UNTIL I TURN OFF BLUETOOTH FUNCTION. I MUST USE MY PHONE WITH THE HANDSET WHICH IS NOT MY SAFEST OPTION. THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM AND NEITHER APPLE NOR TOYOTA WILL FIX IT.
THREE STUDS OR LUGS BROKE OFF MY RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING IT TO COMPLETELY BREAK OFF AND DAMAGE THE RIGHT FRONT PART OF MY TRUCK. THANKFULLY I WASN'T DRIVING VERY FAST OR IT WOULD OF BEEN MUCH WORSE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP AND HAD IT REPAIRED. THE MECHANICS SAY THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. I'M AFRAID MY OTHER WHEELS MY DO THIS AS WELL. MY TRUCK IS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA PLAT 4X4
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON DURING A LONG HWY DRIVE HOME, HAD VEHICLE CHECKED OUT AND PULLED CODE B1863. CODE WAS CHECKED AND EVERYTHING CHECKED GOOD, SO CODE WAS RESET. IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH AND AIRBAG LIGHT JUST CAME BACK ON DURING A DRIVE HOME. TAKING IT IN TO SEE IF IT'S THE SAME ODE OR A DIFFERENT ONE THIS TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A FUEL ODOR WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF SANFORD (3321 HWY 87, SOUTH SANFORD, NC 27332) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINES FAILED DUE TO MATERIAL DETERIORATION, WHICH CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK ONTO AND AROUND THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 190927-1657. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.*DT *TR
I WAS DRIVING APPROX 5-15 MPH ON A SMOOTH, PAVED, SLIGHTLY UPHILL ROAD WHEN MY DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE FRONT AND BACK SEAT DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AS WELL AS THE DRIVERS SEAT AIRBAG. THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ALSO LOCKED UP. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ON THE OUTSIDE WHAT SO EVER. IT HAS 57,XXX MILES. I PURCHASED IT NEW AND ALL SERVICE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AT THE PURCHASING DEALERSHIP. THIS IS THE FIRST ISSUE IN WHAT HAS BEEN AN EXTRAORDINARY VEHICLE UP TO THIS POINT.
AIRBAG MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE DOOR LOCK AND THE KEY REMOTE, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR NEEDED TO BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF KINGSPORT (2525 E STONE DR, KINGSPORT, TN 37660 423-246-6611), BUT THE MECHANIC FAILED TO PROVIDE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
IPHONE X MAX WILL NOT PAIR WITH THE ENTUNE SYSTEM MAKING IT HAZARDOUS AND ILLEGAL TO RESPOND TO PHONE CALLS WHILE IN THE TRUCK. TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THE RADIO HEAD UNIT TWICE AND SPENT OVER A YEAR TRYING TO FIX. NEITHER APPLE OR TOYOTA KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE IN TRUCK PHONE SYSTEM FAILS WHILE MOVING OR SITTING STILL. THOUSANDS OF TOYOTA CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM
I WAS CARRYING AN OLD BATTERY ON THE TRUCK BED AND THE BATTERY LEAKS SO THE FLUID SPILLED OVER MY FUEL TANK AND BURN/CORRODE THE VACUUM AND GAS LINES. I THINK THE FUEL TANK SHOULD BE PROTECTED WITH AN UPPER SKILL PLATE BECAUSE IS A TRUCK AND YOU ALWAYS CARRY DIFFERENT THINGS AND THIS IS KIND OF EXPOSE OR DRAIN HOLES OF THE BED ARE NOT LOCATED PROPERLY, SO THEY WANNA CHARGE ME 2K DLS FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A BAD DESIGN PROBLEM.
THE TOYOTA 5.7L V8 ENGINE FOUND IN TOYOTA TUNDRAS, SEQUOIAS, SIENNAS, LAND CRUISERS, AND LEXUS LX570S SUFFER FROM CAM SHAFT TOWER LEAKAGE, AND IT WILL MOST LIKELY HAPPEN TO ANYONE THAT OWNS ONE. IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE FROM 1K MILES TO 100K MILES, BUT IT CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE AND OTHER IMPORTANT PARTS AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE, AS IT LEAKS IN TO THE EXHAUST AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE. I OWN A 2014 TUNDRA THAT HAS THIS ISSUE AND THE DEALER WANTS ME TO PAY $3K TO FIX IT!
PZ169 OIL FILTER COLLAPSED; TOOK TRUCK TO SHOP BECAUSE ENGINE WAS SHUTTING DOWN; FINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS THE OIL FILTER HAD COLLAPSED FROM MY RECENT OIL CHANGE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT AN INTERSECTION WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, IT ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN IN PARK. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
HOOD BULGE KEEPS POPPING UP OUT OF PLACE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 65/70 OR WHEN IT'S WINDY OUTSIDE.
Door locks no longer automatically lock when vehicle reaches forward driving speed
ON 2 SEPERATE OCCASSIONS 02/25/2016, MICE ATE MY WIRES IN MY TRUCK. THE FIRST TIME I DROVE HOME FROM WORK, AND COULD NOT SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THERE WAS ONLY 17,506 MILES, I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY HAD ME DRIVE MY TRUCK THERE. THERE WAS A MOUSE NEST INSIDE THE FUSE BOX AND THEY HAD CHEWED THRU MY WIRES. THE 2ND TIME 09/12/2018 I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND THE TRUCK JUST STALLED AND I WAS UNABLE TO START IT AGAIN. (30,892 MILES)
HORN STOPPED WORKING. REALIZED IT WILL WORK ONLY WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. FUSE ARE GOOD. DANGEROUS NOT HAVING HORN OPERABLE. TWO CLOSE CALL ACCIDENTS WHERE I COULD NOT WARN OTHER DRIVER.
Randomly the air bag light comes on saying that their is an malfunction in one of the air bags. The dashboard light comes on more frequently when the weather is hot out side. Can’t remember the date when it started but it’s been happening a lot and Toyota said their are no recalls or issues with that are known and I would need to pay which is costly.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY (NOT USING CRUISE CONTROL) WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE THROTTLE CONTROL CHANGED. THE TRUCK WOULD RANDOMLY THROTTLE WITHOUT PUSHING ON THE PEDAL. ADDITIONALLY, IF I PUT THE PEDAL DOWN THE TRUCK COULDN'T GET BEYOND 60MPH GOING UP A HILL. HOWEVER, GOING DOWN HILLS THE TRUCK WAS THROTTLING ON ITS OWN AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO ATTAIN A SPEED OF 70MPH EVEN THOUGH THE CRUISE CONTROL WASN'T ON OR EVEN FUNCTIONING (AT THIS POINT I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY). IF I BRAKED THE THROTTLING WOULD STOP; HOWEVER, WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE TRUCK WOULD CONTINUE TO THROTTLE. WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY THE TRUCK ONCE AGAIN WAS RANDOMLY THROTTLING. I DISENGAGED THE BATTERY THINKING THAT POSSIBLY REBOOTING THE TRUCKS COMPUTER WOULD HELP. I STARTED THE TRUCK IN PARK AND IMMEDIATELY THE RPMS INCREASED AS IF SOMEONE HAD THERE FOOT FULLY DECOMPRESSING THE PEDAL. I KNOW TOYOTA HAD RECALLS ON THEIR VEHICLES BUT APPARANTLY NOT ON THE 2014 TUNDRA MODEL. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE TRUCK ISSUE THAT LUCKILY OCCURRED IN A RURAL SETTING. I LET THE TRUCK SIT FOR TWO DAYS AND DROVE THE TRUCK AROUND THE 4 MILE BLOCK. INITIALLY THE TRUCK DROVE NORMAL FOR THE FIRST TWO MILES. BY MILE 3 IT WAS UNCONTROLLABLY THROTTLING. THE THROTTLING DID NOT STOP THIS TIME EVEN WHEN HOLDING DOWN THE BRAKES BUT LUCKILY THE BRAKES ARE AT LEAST GOOD ENOUGH TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN.
NOTICE STRONG SMELL OF OIL IN THE CAB, MY KIDS COMPLAINED ABOUT IT SO , I DECIDED TO GO UNDERNEATH AND CHECK WHAT'S GOING ON AND THERE IS A OIL LEAK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE COMING FROM THE ENGINE , MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 40K MILES AND I RESEARCHED AND FIND OUT A LOT OF REPORTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I'M AFRAID THE OIL DRIPPING ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WILL CATCH ON FIRE , NOT TO MENTION THE SMELL AND CARBON MONOXIDE THAT WE ARE BREATHING INSIDE THE CAB. ESPECIALLY MY KIDS.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT SIDE CONTROL PANEL DISENGAGE FROM THE SEAT, IN WHICH CREATES AN UNREASONABLE SAFETY RISK GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEATS HAS WORN TREMENDOUSLY.
MULTIPLE FAILED ELECTRIC DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS. TOOK IN UNDER WARRANTY REFUSED TO REPLACE BUT SAID THEY "CLEANED IT" RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY WAS OVER, IT FAILED AGAIN. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE IS FAILING. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA. EVEN THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY KNEW IT WAS AN ISSUE BUT ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT.
JANUARY, 2018, DRIVERS SEAT BELT SETS OFF ALARM WHEN DRIVING. PASSENGERS SIDE SEAT BELT WINT CONNECT AT ALL. THIS STARTED SUNDAY, 1/13/19.
