TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 65-70 MPH SHE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. SHE WAS ABLE TO DECELERATE BY SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR. 2 WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY BECAUSE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,150 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5500. UPDATED 02/03/10 *BF UPDATED 02/11/10.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V356000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND SEATBELT LOCKED WITH NO IMPACT. *TR
VEHICLE'S COMPUTERIZED GASOLINE FULL/EMPTY EQUIPMENT COLLAPSED WHILE DRIVING THE HIGHWAY, AND VEHICLE RUNNING SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN NOT ABLE TO START AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. FUEL CONSOLE SHOWED THE VEHICLE HAD 1/2 TANK FUELING BUT WOULD NOT START. VEHICLE TOWED TO TOYOTA CAR DEALER. DEALER REPLACED THE WHOLE COMPUTERIZED FUEL WARNING SYSTEM. GAS TANK WAS ENTIRELY EMPTY HOWEVER SHOWED THAT HAD 1/2 TANK FUEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK ON THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE AND LANDED ON HIS HEAD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRUNK WAS MANUFACTURED IN THAT MANNER. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE CONSUMER HUSBAND WAS STRUCK ON THE BRIDGE OF HIS NOSE BY THE TRUNK. THE FAILURE LEFT A SMALL GASH ON HIS FACE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT ASSIST AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS. EVERY MORNING WINTER OR SUMMER, I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY CAR TO WARM UP IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT UP THE ROAD IF I WANT TO GO MORE THAN 25 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT WANT TO GO OUT OF FIRST GEAR UNTIL THE CAR IS AT A CERTAIN TEMP. I CAN'T GO UP A ROAD THAT IS 35-45 MPH IF I JUST STARTED MY CAR, OTHERWISE THERE WOULD BE ALOT OF UPSET PEOPLE BEHIND ME BECAUSE I CAN'T GO FAST UNTIL THE CAR WARMS UP. THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT IS COMMON FOR ANY TOYOTA CAR AS THEY MAKE THEM THAT WAY TO ENSURE THEY LAST AS LONG AS THEY DO. YOU SHOULD NEVER JUST GET IN YOUR CAR AND GO. IT NEEDS TO WARM UP AND GET FLUIDS TO THE PROPER TEMPERATURE. IS THIS A CROCK BECAUSE I SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS AND NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THAT THE DEALER SAYS THIS CAR SHOULD ACT THIS WAY AND THIS IS NORMAL? *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 60 TO 70 MPH THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND TO THE LEFT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THE TOYOTA DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. CURRENT MILEAGE OF THIS TOYOTA YARIS IS 21,755. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SHOULDER BELT JERKED CONTINUOUSLY. THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE DISENGAGED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE AND THE CONTACT MADE TWO ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE BUCKLE ENGAGED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 25,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. WHENEVER THE CONTACT TURNS THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, SHE HEARS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FAILED AND WAS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
OUR LOCAL TOYOTA SERVICE DEALER DOES NOT PERFORM SAFETY RECALL REPAIRS ON THE WEEKEND, OR ON WEEKDAYS AFTER 4PM. SO CAR WILL REMAIN IN SAME CONDITION UNTIL A DEALER IS FOUND THAT CAN REPAIR SAFETY RECALL ON WEEKEND...IF POSSIBLE. THE RODLAND TOYOTA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS ACTUALLY VERY RUDE TO ME ON THE PHONE. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO FROM HERE. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY UNDERSTANDING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT IN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE COULD MAKE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 57,000.
MY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME ON MY 2007 YARIS SEDAN. THE MANUAL STATES TO STOP DRIVING THE CAR AND CONTACT THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR IS A DAILY COMMUTE CAR WITH 75,000 MILES AT THE TIME. THE PROBLEM WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSOR (PART NUMBER 42450-52060 / HUB & BRG ASSY R), AND CLEANED CORROSION FROM THE WIRING HARNESS WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE SPEED SENSOR. THE TOTAL REPAIR COST WAS OVER $650. THE AMOUNT OF CORROSION ON A CAR JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD ON THE REAR ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSORS SHOWS A POTENTIAL DESIGN FLAW IN THIS PART AND HOW IT IS ATTACHED ON THE YARIS VEHICLE LINE. THIS FAILURE DISABLES THE ABS SYSTEM AND CAUSES ERRATIC OPERATION. ON ONE OCCASION ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER WHILE THE ABS LIGHT WAS OFF I HAD A BRAKE ANOMALY. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AT A PARKING LOT STOP SIGN AT SLOW SPEED (~5MPH) AND THE ABS KICKED IN AND I COULDN'T STOP. THE WEATHER AND STREET WAS DRY. IT TOOK MORE THAN 25FT TO STOP! THE CORROSION AT THIS CONNECTION IS CAUSING INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF THE ABS SYSTEM WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA YARIS SEDAN ALONG I-75 NORTHBOUND TOWARDS ATLANTA WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WINDOW JUST EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. CONTROL OF VEHICLE LOST ON DIRT ROAD. VEHICLE ROLLED OVER 3X. LANDED ON ROOF. NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS AT ALL. *TR
THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT 62-64MPH. HEARD THE TIRE BLOWOUT AND FELT THE CAR PULL TO THE RIGHT. TURNED ON EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. THE CAR SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER, RIGHT DOOR, SIDE SKIRT, HOOD, FRONT BUMPER, ABS WIRING AND OTHER WIRING. THE TIRE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER HAD TO STOP FREEWAY TRAFFIC TO GET THE TREAD OFF THE FREEWAY. HE CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO ABNORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS OR OBJECTS ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: MY NAME IS [XXX] ,RESIDENT OF GURABO, PUERTO RICO. THE REASON OF THIS LETTER IS BECAUSE I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM AND I NEED TO KNOW HOW YOU CAN HELP ME. I AM PROPRIETOR OF A CAR TOYOTA YARIS OF YEAR 2007, CLEAR GREEN COLOR. AT DAWN OF THE PAST MONDAY MARCH 17, 2008 THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE IN MY RESIDENCE APPARENTLY BY A SHORT CIRCUIT. THE VEHICLE ALREADY TURNED A YEAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES. I PROCEED TO MAKE A CLAIM TO THE INSURANCE AGENCY. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SENT A ELECTROMECHANICAL EXPERT TO VERIFY MY CAR ON APRIL 8, 2008. THE ELECTROMECHANICAL EXPERT VERIFIED THE CAR, BUT HE CANNOT DETERMINATE FROM WHERE THE FAILURE CAME, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE BY THE PART AIRBAG OF THE PASSENGER AND BY THE LATERAL CENTER OF THE SIDE OF THE DRIVER. THAT WAS, TWO ISOLATE FIRES. THE ELECTROMECHANICAL DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE NEVER HAS BEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT NOR HAS BEEN ALTERED SINCE THE VAHICLE IS NEW OF FACTORY. THEREFORE, THE ELECTROMECHANICAL EXPERT DETERMINED THAT IT A FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. BY SUCH REASON, I LET KNOW MY CASE TO KNOW IN WHAT FORM SOMEONE CAN HELP ME. I AM A DISABLED PERSON THAT I NEED AN AUTOMOBILE TO ATTEND CONTINUOUS MADICAL APPOINTMENTS AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT THEY CANNOT MAKE ME ANY REIMBURSEMENT BY THE MONNEY ALREADY PAID BY AN ENTIRE YEAR AND IN ADDITION, THEY INFORMED ME THAT I MUST CONTINUE PAYING THE VEHICLE UNTIL AS MUCH THE INSURANCE SETTLES THE ACCOUNT TO THE BANK. AT A LOW SPEED ACCIDENT SEAT CAME FORWARD, AIRBAG EXPLODED UNEVENLY, ENGINE MOUNT CAME LOOSE.
AIR BAG DEPLOYED AT A LOW SPEED IMPACT. GOING 20 TO 30 MPH, THE AIRBAG EXPLODED UNEVENLY MOSTLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE, SHOULDER HURT FOR MONTHS AFTERWARDS
TIRES ARE OF VERY POOR QUALITY. WERE BALD AFTER LITTLE USE. ENDED UP UNABLE TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE AND INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT. THROUGH SERVICE CHECKS IT WAS NEVER NOTED TO ME OF THE TIRE CONDITION AND THE TIRES SHOULD NOT OF BEEN IN THE CONDITION THEY WERE IN. I FEEL AS THOUGH IT IS A DEFECT OR POOR QUALITY PRODUCT TOYOTA IS SELLING ON THEIR VEHICLES. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 YARIS WITH A FAULTY CENTER PILLAR SOUND INSULATOR DUE TO THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP(CLASSIC TOYOTA OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS) REFUSES TO SERVICE MY TOYOTA VEHICLES, STEMMING BACK FROM AN INCIDENT IN WHICH I WAS OVERCHARGED $750 ON A 2008 SCION XB LAST YEAR. THEY HAVE TOLD ME TO 'TAKE MY CAR ELSEWHERE FOR REPAIRS"..BUT THIS IS NOT A "REPAIR" DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR..IT'S A SAFETY RECALL. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER, AND SHE IS UNWILLING TO PROCESS MY SAFETY RECALL WORK. I FEEL AS IF I'M BEING CHEATED OUT OF THE GUARANTEED WARRANTY I PURCHASED WITH MY NEW VEHICLE, AND THEY ARE INTENTIONALLY RISKING MY SAFETY BY NOT FIXING A DANGEROUS RECALL (SEAT BELT TENSIONER). COINCIDENTALLY, THE SEATBELT ALREADY FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY WHEN MY CAR WAS STRUCK BY A SMALL TRUCK DIRECTLY IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR...IF THE SEATBELT WAS CORRECTLY WORKING I WOULD LIKELY HAVE SUFFERED LESS DAMAGE TO MY SHOULDERS AND NECK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE HAND BRAKE WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
THE FAILURE WAS NOT ON MY VEHICLE, BUT ON SOME 18 WHEELER WHICH LOST ITS RETREAD. I HIT THE RETREAD DEBREE LAYING IN THE ROAD, A PIECE 2-3 FEET LONG. I NEARLY WRECKED 1ST TRYING TO AVOID IT AND THEN WHEN I HIT IT. IT TORE UP MY EXHAUST PIPE WHICH WILL NEED REPAIR. I BELIEVE THESE RETREADS AUGHT TO BE MADE ILLEGAL SINCE THEY MUST BE RAILING AT A HIGH RATE, JUST LOOKING AT THE DEBREE I NOTICE ALONG THE SIDE OF A TYPICAL INTERSTATE. IS THE COST SAVINGS TO TRUCKERS WORTH THE RISK IMPOSED ON OTHER DRIVERS AND THE COST OF REPAIR TO THEIR VEHICLES, MOST OF WHICH IS ABSORBED BY THE VICTIM OF THIS JUNK. IT IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS FOR DRIVERS OF SMALL VEHICLES, WHICH HAVE LOW GROUND CLEARANCE. I HIT THIS WITH A YARIS. *TR

GOING 35 MPH SOUTH ON PAVED ROAD, IT HAD JUST STARTED RAINING, I SLOWED DOWN TO DUE TO DEER IN THE ROAD, INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN, MY CAR WHEN INTO A COMPLETE 180 SPIN, HAD NO CONTROL, THE ANITLOCK BRAKES DID NOT KICK IN, MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I FEEL THAT MY CAR SHOULD HAVE RESPONDED MORE EFFECTIVELY, TO ME PUMPING THE BRAKES, BUT INSTEAD, I LANDED IN THE DITCH. CAR WAS JUST REPORTED TO ME AS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
OCT 19, 2007 FRONTAL COLLISION OF 2007 TOYOTA YARIS - AIRBAGS FAILED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER LEAKED WATER INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT NOTICED MOLD AND MILDEW ON THE CARPET ON BOTH SIDES. A MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY TISSUE AND NAPKINS IN THE GLOVE BOX CLOGGING THE DRAIN VALVE. IF THE CONTACT LEFT THE GLOVE BOX EMPTY, IT DID NOT LEAK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
REAR LEFT SEAT BELT BECAME SO TIGHT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS WE WERE UNABLE TO RELEASE MY CHILD. SHE WAS UNDER A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN AND THE SEAT BELT HAD TO BE CUT. APX A WEEK LATER SHE BECAME STUCK IN THE SAME MANNER IN THE RIGHT SEAT BELT AND WAS ABLE TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE HER *JB
TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. HAS CONFIRMED TO ME THAT THE 2007 MANUAL-TRANSMISSION TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE HAS INSUFFICIENT COMPRESSION TO HOLD THE CAR ON AN INCLINE WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF AND THE TRANSMISSION IS IN FIRST GEAR. I EXPERIENCE A CONTINUAL BUMPING-BACK ON A SLIGHT HILL. (I DISCOVERED THIS ONLY WHEN I HADN'T SET THE PARKING BRAKE BECAUSE I WAS SITTING IN THE CAR.) I'VE DRIVEN STICK-SHIFTS ALL MY LIFE AND EVERY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC I'VE SHOWN THIS TO HAS AGREED THAT IT IS A TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN. SEVERAL NOTED THAT IT IS CALLED "REVERSE DIESELING". PROBLEM #1: CONSUMERS ARE NOT BEING INFORMED OF THIS SITUATION. I'D NEVER HAVE PURCHASED THE CAR IF I'D KNOWN. SOLUTION: A LETTER MUST BE SENT TO ALL YARIS OWNERS IMMEDIATELY, INFORMING THEM OF THIS. AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN TURNED OFF WILL NOT RELEASE THE KEY WHEN NOT IN PARK. SOLUTION: AT THE VERY LEAST TOYOTA MUST RETROFIT THE CARS WITH AN AUDIO/VISUAL SIGNAL WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT SET. UPCOMING MODELS MUST INCLUDE A QUALITY SAFEGUARD. PROBLEM #3: PAGE 129 OF THE OWNER'S MANUAL MILDLY STATES,"WHEN PARKING, FIRMLY APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE TO AVOID INADVERTENT CREEPING." PLEASE NOTE THAT THE IDENTICAL VERBIAGE IS USED IN THE MANUAL FOR BOTH TYPES OF TRANSMISSION. SOLUTION: OBVIOUS. PROBLEM# 4: PARKING BRAKES ARE NOTORIOUSLY UNRELIABLE FOR MANY REASONS. VEHICLE FAILED TO MAINTAIN ITS COURSE UNDER SUDDEN STEERING CHANGES ORIGINATED TO AVOID COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT SPUN DUE TO EITHER LIGHTNESS OF THE VEHICLE OR FAILED STEERING, AND HIT THE GUARD RAILS. THE NEW 2007 TOYOTA YARIS VEHICLE HAD ONE NEW BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE92 TIRE (DRIVER SIDE REAR) REPLACED BY THE DEALER EARLIER THAT DAY JUST BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. *JB
RADIO FADED IN AND OUT. HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR 6 MONTHS. THEY HAVE CONTACTED THE RADIO MANUFACTURER , FUJITSU TEN AND TOYOTA. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE RADIO AND ANTENNA SYSTEM, BUT NO SUCCESS. THEY CONTINUED TO CONTACT THE RADIO MANUFACTURER AND TOYOTA, BUT THEY HAVE NO SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME YESTERDAY THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. MY OPTIONS WERE TO DEAL WITH IT OR PURSUE THE LEMON LAW. IN ADDITION, I WAS GIVEN A 2007 CAMRY LOANER CAR WHILE THEY LOOKED INTO THE PROBLEM, AND THE RADIO IN IT DID THE SAME THING. THE SERVICE MANAGER AND I DROVE ANOTHER NEW YARIS THAT WAS ON THE LOT, AND IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK

I BOUGHT 2007 TOYOTA YARIS 4 DOOR SEDAN WITH AUTOMATIC. WHEN I USED CRUISE CONTROL, IT HAD AT LEAST TWO TIMES SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY MADE HUGE NOISE FOR THE ACCELERATION, AND I WAS SCARED AND IMMEDIATELY CANCELED IT. ALTHOUGH IT CAN BE CANCELED, IT IS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY WHEN GOING FROM 10 TO 45 MPH. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY TO THE NEXT GEAR. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE WHEN IT IS JUST STARTING OFF IN THE MORNING RATHER THAN AFTER IT WARMS UP.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS. WHILE HE WAS DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLID ON AN ICY ROAD CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SPUN OUT AND CRASHED INTO A TREE WITHOUT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYING. THE MAJORITY OF THE DAMAGE WAS DONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT, WHERE THE AIR BAGS SENSORS ARE LOCATED. WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING IT WILL ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE BY ITSELF WITHOUT ME EVEN TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. ACCELERATION BETWEEN 20-45 MILES PER HOUR WAS "JUMPY" AND "UN SMOOTH" ON A BRAND NEW 2007 AUTOMATIC SEDAN TOYOTA YARIS. THIS STARTED A WEEK AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION WAS DONE. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT WITH 11 MILES ON IT AND BY 6,400 IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAD A BRAND NEW CAR FOR LESS THAN THREE MONTHS AND IT HAD A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE NOISE BECAME WORSE WHEN TURNS WERE MADE TO EITHER SIDE. ACCELERATOR ON 2007 YARIS IS SENSITIVE AT LOWER RPMS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO START OFF IN FIRST GEAR CAUSING A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WHEN STARTING OFF ON A HILL OR STEEP GRADE. WAS TOLD BY BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, IT'S A DESIGN ISSUE. THE DEALER DID MENTION THAT THEY HAD RECEIVED OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SENSITIVITY OF THE ACCELERATOR. I'VE OWNED MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS MY ENTIRE LIFE AND ALTHOUGH YOU EXPECT DIFFERENCES IN ACCELERATOR AND CLUTCH COMBINATIONS, THIS IS THE WORST I'VE EVER OWNED.*JB

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THE SNOW OR RAIN AND APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO SKID AND THE DRIVER HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO DEFECT IN THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. 2007 TOYOTA YARIS HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO WARM UP, BEFORE HE COULD CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. IN THE WINTER TIME, IT WAS WORSE. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GEARS WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. THE VEHICLE ALSO PULLED TO THE RIGHT/LEFT WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE ALSO VIBRATED. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.
