CONSUMER STATES HIS VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH, PROBLEMS IS DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE STEERING WHEEL IS UNCONTROLABLE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURES HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. PH
I HAVE CLAIMED TO VOLKESWAGEN WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN ON RECALL ALTHOUGH THE SERVICE IS ADVISING ME THAT THEY CANNOT KEEP UP WITH SERVICE SINCE THEY KEEP HAVING THE SAME MODELS OF CAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE SERVICE FOR OVER A WEEK AND A HALF NOW SINCE VW IS OUT OF STOCK ON THIS PARTICULAR PARTS. SERVICE CAN NOT START WORKING ON VW TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT CALLING FOR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT JUST WAIT FOR THE OWNER OF THE CARS WITH DEFECTED PARTS TO FIND OUT THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL VOLKESWAGEN IS TAKING A PROPER ACTION ON THIS DEFECTED PARTS. WISH SOME KIND OF PROPER ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY SOON. DT
TRANSMISSION OF 2002 VW BEETLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED . THE CAR HAS ONLY 31,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL CARED FOR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON VW BEETLES. COULD THERE BE A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSIONS OF THERE CARS? *TR
THE TURN SIGNALS TO NOT WORK. CONSUMER HAS TO REMOVE THE BULB AND REPLACE THEM TO MAKE THEM WORK. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR THE ONGOING PROBLEM, AND THE DEALER HAS ONLY REPLACED THE BULBS.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE BULBS THAT WHERE REPLACED WHERE NOT BURNT OUT AND THE PROBLEM RESIDES IN THE SOCKET. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SOCKET AND THE BULB IS NOT SOUND AND THEREFORE THE BULB RATTLES. AFTER TIGHTENING THE BULB WILL WORK A FEW DAYS AND THEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. THE DEALER JUST TIGHTENS THE BULB BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. *TC
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, ANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE ACTIVATES THE MOTOR PROTECTION CIRCUIT, THIS CIRCUIT REMAPS THE COMPUTER TO SHUT OFF THE TURBO, THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHICH CAUSED A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. *TS *NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. VEHICLE "SPUTTERS" AND THEN STALLS. MR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS FAILED TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
EACH TIME I SELECT THE TURN SIGNAL IT NOW BLINKS A COUPLE TIMES AND THEN STOPS WORKING. THE HAZARD LIGHTS WORK FINE. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2002 NEW BEETLE FAILS TO ENGAGE FOR A SECOND OR TWO AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE. DOESN'T DO IT AT OTHER TIMES, ONLY WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AN HOUR OR MORE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED TRANSMISSION MODULE TWICE (TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS) AND THE THIRD AND FOURTH TIME I BROUGHT IT IN WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BEHAVE THIS WAY. INHERENT TO THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION WAS THIS SMALL DELAY FOR EMISSIONS REASONS. I AM NOT BUYING IT, NOT WITH ALL THE OTHER ISSUES I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOUR TIMES FOR POWER WINDOW PROBLEMS AND GETTING READY TO BRING IT IN FOR A FIFTH. THE MONSOON STEREO HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND IS MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY BROKE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. LOTS OF BOTHERSOME PROBLEMS AND NOW I HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A VALVE TAP.*AK
DURING A REAR IMPACT, MY SON STATES HIS SEAT LUMBAR SECTION TILTED TOWARDS THE BACK SEATING AREA AND THE PASSENGER SEAT (EMPTY) TILTED FORWARD, TOWARDS THE WINDSHEILD. MY SON LITTERALLY HAD TO USE THE STEERING WILL TO HELP PULL HIMSELF BACK UP FORWARD.*AK
A COMPONENT WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO EITHER NOT COME OUT OF PARK OR WHILE BEING DRIVEN THE VEHICLE DROPS DOWN TO 20 MPH AND SPEED CANNOT BE REGAINED. NLM
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE HAS STALL MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. PLEASE FURNISH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. MR
WHILE CONSUMER HAS HIS FOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THE TRANSMISSION IN FORWARD GEAR, IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. WHEN REMOVING HIS FOOT, THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE AND THEN LURCH FORWARD INTO GEAR. IF ON A HILL THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACKWARDS BEFORE ENGAGING. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *JG
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE WITH FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKES IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. WHEN FOOT IS REMOVED FROM THE BRAKE VEHICLE WILL HESITATEAND THEN LURCH FORWARD. DEALER CONTACTED, CANNOT FIX PROBLEM. *MR
TRANSMISSION NOTED TO BE DOWNSHIFTED VERY HARD WHEN COMING TO A SLOW STOP. WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP AND REACHING THE 15-20 MPH AREA CAR WILL JERK HARD. TOOK BACK TO TONY HONDA FOR SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT TO VOLKSWAGEN SPECS AND THEY WERE NOT GOING TO CHECK INTO IT ANY FURTHER. VOLKWAGEN WAS CONTACTED BY ME AND TOLD TO TAKE CAR FOR SECOND OPINION AT CUTTER VOLKWAGEN HERE IN HONOLULU. STEVE FROM SERVICE DROVE THE CAR AND COULD NOT BELIVE IT WAS DOING THE DOWNSHIFTING. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS IN THE SHOP THEY REPLACED PARTS OF THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS STILL DOING IT. THEY WERE AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION WITH ANOTHER FROM A NEW CAR IN STOCK BUT THEY ALSO DID THE SAME THING. IT TURNS OUT THAT THERE IS A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION IN THE TRANSMISSION AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING THIS IN FROM GERMANY AND SO FAR I HAVE BEEN WAITING 2 WEEKS. DURING THIS TIME I SPILLED HOT COFFE ON MY LEG AND HAVE 2ND DEGREE BURNS DUE TO THIS SHIFTING PROBLEM AND WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH MY SON HE HIT HIS HEAD ON THE DASHBOARD COMING TO A STOP WHEN THIS DEFECT OCCURRED. THEY TOLD ME THIS IS NON-LIFE THREATENING BUT I BEG TO DIFFER. THEY TOLD ME THAT I WILL BE THE FIRST IN HAWAII TO HAVE THIS REPROGRAMMING DONE. I WANT OUT OF THIS CAR, IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND VOLKWAGEN DOESN'T CARE.*AK
CAR DOWNSHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP, CAUSING DRIVER AND PASSENGERS TO BE LUNGED FORWARD IN THEIR SEAT.. DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND INCREASES WHEN VEHICLE IS WARMED UP. ON OCCASION DOWNSHIFT OCCURRED SO HARD THAT I THOUGHT I WAS JUST REAR -ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR. I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR MY WIFE AND NOW SHE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.*AK
2002 VOLKSWAGEN NEW BEETLE 1.8 TURBO HAD COILPACK FAIL ALONG WITH TURBO BLOW OFF VALVE. THIS IS A RE-OCURING PROBLEM AMONG THESE VEHICLES AND IT IS INEVITABLE THAT THE OTHER COILPACKS WILL FAIL AT SOME POINT. VW WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE FAILED COILPACK, I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OTHERS TO FAIL PUTTING MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF MY PASSENGERS IN JEOPARDY
WHILE DRIVING 55-65 MPH STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE AND VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. *AKTHE DEALER REPLACED THE CU AXLE AND RELATED FRONT END PARTS. *NLM
WHENEVER THE SUN ROOF IS OPEN 1 1/2 TO 2" WIDE, EXHAUST FUMES WOULD COME INTO VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK DEALER STATED TO CONSUMER, THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS NO FIX AT THIS TIME. *JG
I BOUGHT MY NEW BEETLE BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2001. THE DAY AFTER I BROUGHT IT HOME (OVER 2 HOURS AWAY), THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT DIDN'T MEAN ANYTHING UNLESS IT WAS FLASHING SO I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. 2 MONTHS LATER MY ABS WENT OUT WHILE I WAS AN HOUR FROM MY HOUSE AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED AND REPLACED. THE WINDOWS CONTINUALLY GO UP AND DOWN BY THEMSELF BUT THE DEALER CAN'T FIX IT. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER YESTERDAY BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND TOLD THEM AGAIN ABOUT THE CEL LIGHT. THEY THEN TOLD ME I NEEDED TO HAVE THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR REPLACE (NEARLY $400) AND THAT IS WHY MY CAR HAS BEEN DOWNSHIFTING BY ITSELF AND LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. THIS MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR THAT I HAD WANTED FOR SO LONG. DT
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENLY LOSE POWER AT A CERTAIN SPEED AND STAY THERE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE CONSUMER HAS TRIED TO STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WILL STILL DRIVE AT THE SAME SPEED. CONTACTED DEALER AND THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*JB *YH
WINDOW REGULATOR KEEPS BREAKING, CAUSING POWER WINDOWS TO MALFUNCTION. HAD PART REPLACED 3 TIMES. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING. *AK

VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR VARIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. DURING ONE SITUATION VEHICLE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING. OTHER PROBLEMS WERE IMMOBILIZER FAILED AGAIN, AFFECTING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. ALSO, FRONT LIGHT COVERS WERE RETAINING WATER, CAUSING A SHORT. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
WHEN FOLLOWING THIS VEHICLE IN BRIGHT SUN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE BRAKE LIGHTS OR THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THE SUN JUST WASHES THEN OUT. THEY NEED TO BE MOUNTED VERTICALLY AND NOT ON A SLOPE AS THEY ARE NOW.*JB
PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING, CAUSING CONSUMER TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID MNOT DEPLOY AFTER HITTING VEHICLE. PLEASE ADD VIN. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE ABS SYSTEM SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, THE ABS SYSTEM MODULE WAS REPLACED, THIS WAS THE 2ND TIME IT HAD HAPPENED. NLM
WAS DRIVING 10 MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN RED LIGHT, THE OTHER VEHICLE HIT THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY RESULTING IN INKURY TO THE DRIVER. NLM
CONSUMER STATED HE HAS LEARNED THAT THE REAR SPOILER WILL DEPLOY WHEN DRIVING 45-50 MPH, CONSUMER STATED ON THE 2001 MODEL IN ORDER FOR THE REAR SPOILER TO DEPLOY, THE VEHICLE MUST BE DRIVEN AT A RATE OF 80 MPH, CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS FEATURE WAS MISREPRESENTED AND WANTS TO RETURN THE VEHICLE OR HAVE THIS FEATURE DISENGAGED SINCE THE SPOILER IS DESIGNED TO DEPLOY AT SUCH A LOW SPEED.*JB
