TAKATA INFLATORS , I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM VW BACK IN APRIL THAT THE AIR BAG WAS FAULTY AND HAS BEEN AT VW TWO TIMES AND THEY SAY THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A FIX FOR IT YET , I ASKED IF THEY WERE BUILDING NEW CARES WITH FAULTY AIR BAGS THEY JUST SAID THAT WHEN THE NEW TAKATA INFLATED CAME IN THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE APRIL ??? HELP

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP IN THE STEERING WHEEL. ON THE DISPLAY IT SHOWED AIRBAG ERROR AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE CALLED ME AN TOLD ME THAT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK IN A CRASH AN THAT THERE IS TWO RECALLS ON MY CAR ONE BEING THE TAKATA AN THE OTHER BEING NHSTA RECALL NUMBER 15V48300. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPED AN THEY SAID THERE WAS RECALLS ACCORDING TO MY MODEL BUT WASN'T ANY RECALLS THEY CAN FIX ACCORDING TO MY VIN NUMBER WAS CURIOUS WHAT I NEED TO DO ABOUT THIS

MY 2.0L TSI TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED CAUSING TIMING CHAIN TO JUMP TIMING AND DAMAGING OTHER ENGINE PARTS. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT AND NOISE CAME IN.
TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT STATES WITH HIGH HUMIDLY AND HOTTER TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE THE AIR BAGS TO IMPLODE. BASED ON THE AFOREMENTIONED AS WELL AS THE ACTUAL RECALL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THIS WILL BE RECTIFIED. MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLES RECALL FOR AIRBAGS REPAIRED OR AT LEAST PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR UNTIL A FIX IS AVAILABLE. VW HAS OFFERED ME NOTHING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE AIR BAGS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE AIR BAG WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN.
FOR NO APPARENT REASON, STEERING CLOCK SPRING CEASED FUNCTION, RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE HORN AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. UPON INTERNET SEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, STARTING AT 50,000 MILES.
A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO, I WAS LEAVING WORK AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. I ACCELERATED TO GO AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE CC STARTED TO ACCELERATE, AND THEN WITH NO WARNING, IT COMPLETELY LOCKED DOWN AND STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO CRANK IT BACK UP AND WENT HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING MESSAGES, LIGHTS...ANYTHING TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. LATER THAT DAY, I TOOK MY DAUGHTER TO DANCE AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND THE NEXT DAY WE PUT THE CAR IN THE SHOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT IT WAS HAPPENING DUE TO AN OIL CAP NOT BEING PLACED IN RIGHT AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. THIS WAS FIXED, AND THE CAR PERFORMED OKAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK, AND THEN STALLED AGAIN; SAME CIRCUMSTANCE: MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, AFTER A STOP, NO WARNING. THE CAR WENT BACK INTO THE SHOP. THIS TIME THE MECHANIC DETERMINED IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TURBO SEAL. THIS WAS 'FIXED'. CAR WAS RETURNED AND AGAIN WAS OKAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK. IT ONCE AGAIN STALLED. SAME CIRCUMSTANCE. THIS TIME, THE MECHANIC STATED HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. WE THEN TOOK THE CAR IN TO SOMEONE WHO SPECIALIZES IN VW. HE DETERMINED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL SENSOR. HE REPLACED THE SENSOR AND WE HAD THE CAR RETURNED TO US TODAY. IT DIED ON MY HUSBAND IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT IS NOW BACK IN THE SHOP, BUT THE MECHANIC STATES HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT; IT IS SHOWING NO ERROR CODES. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS TO BE COMMON IN VW CCS. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUE? THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS; THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT COMPLETELY LOCKS DOWN. NOT TOO SAFE IN 5PM RUSH HOUR BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK, LEFT SHOULDER, AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
DRIVING ALONG PUSH GAS NO RESPONDS CAR LIGHTS COME ON CAR NOT IN GEAR. ON HIGHWAY NO PHOTOS BUT THE 08 & 09 WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON.
EVERY TIME ONCE THE COLD WEATHER HITS THE CAR WONT START AND I GET A STEERING COLUMN DEFECTIVE NOTICE ON THE DASH. I HAVE TO PULL OUT THE KEY WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND TRY AGAIN
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, VEHICLE FAILED TO START, BUT DISPLAYED A "STEERING WHEEL LOCK DEFECTIVE" ALERT. WHEN KEY IS REMOVED AND REPLACED IN THE IGNITION, IT WILL THEN START. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE IS NOW IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT DUE TO OIL RUNNING LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED ON ITS REGULAR 10,000 MILE SCHEDULE AND DID NOT GIVE ANY WARNINGS OR ALERTS. IT ALTOGETHER FAILED TO START AND GAVE ONLY A SHAKING/RATTLING NOISE WHEN TRYING TO CRANK. IN ALL INSTANCES, THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
RECEIVING A STEERING LOCK MSG WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR , RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND WHEN CALLED TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THE SERVICE TECHS ADVISED IT WOULD COST 122.71 TO RUN THE DIAGNOSIS. WHEN I PROTESTED I WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE STEERING COLUMN BUT A SPRING IN THE STEERING WHICH WOULD NOT CAUSE THIS ERROR! I'M NOT SURE HOW THEY RUN THEIR BUSINESS BUT IF A RECALL IS INVOLVING A STEERING COLUMN LOCK AND THE CUSTOMER IS RECEIVING A ERROR REGARDING THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK FAILURE, SHOULDN'T THE DEALER BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND IF IT TURNED OUT TO BE SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THE CUSTOMER TO BE ALERTED AND PROVIDED REPAIR OPTIONS IF NEEDED? THEN THE REP CALLING ME BACK IS FUMBLING ON HER STATEMENT TO ATTEMPT TO ASSURE ME THAT MY ISSUE IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS...HOW WOULD SHE KNOW IF THE RECALL IS REGARDING A STEERING COLUMN ISSUE AND I AM RECEIVING A STEERING COLUMN FAILURE MESSAGE? WOULD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEED TO BE RUN? CHECKERED FLAG VOLKSWAGEN OF VA BEACH REALLY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TYPE OF DIAGNOSIS
AT 9:30 AM ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2015 I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE CAR CUT OFF. TWO (2) ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. AFTER AN HOURS WAIT (FOR AAA), ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE CAR AND IT STARTED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT AND NO USUAL NOISES. THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE COMPUTER FLASHED A WARNING THAT THERE IS A PARKING BREAK ERROR AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO STOP. WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. FOLLOWING THE REPEATED ( OVER 6 TIMES) SHUTTING DOWN AND RESTARTING OF THE CAR THE PARKING ERROR WARNING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN PROCEEDED TO STOP AND NO FORWARD MOTION TOOK PLACE WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON TWO MAJOR HIGHWAYS AT HIGH TRAFFIC/ RUSH HOUR TIMES. FOLLOWING THESE INCIDENTS THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY SUNRISE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP. THEY PREFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP INJECTION SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AND A LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER (OCTOBER 22ND) THE SAME PROBLEM REOCCURRED ONCE AGAIN SHUTTING DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM, PRIOR MALFUNCTION HAS RESULTED IN REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED SEVERAL COOLANT SYSTEM ISSUES FOR WHICH I HAVE HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EACH TIME I'M TOLD THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED, I AM EXPOSED TO POSSIBLE HIGHWAY FATALITY AS I RESUME DRIVING. MY SUGGESTION THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPLACED WAS REJECTED AND EACH ATTEMPT AT REPAIR HAS PROVEN TO BE UNSUCCESSFUL IN RESOLVING THE PROBLEMS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSION CYLINDER AND THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS) AND 15V483000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE TURNING ONTO A MAJOR INTERSECTION, A RED STEERING WHEEL LIGHT POPPED UP ON MY DASH DISPLAY AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IMMEDIATELY... IT TOOK A GREAT DEAL OF STRENGTH TO GET MY CAR TO SAFETY IN A PARKING LOT BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT BE MOVED AT ALL. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AS I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT BECAME DISTRACTED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BUMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED MORE THAN FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS REDUCED POWER TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE COULD SHUT DOWN AT ANY MOMENT, CREATING THE RISK FOR A POTENTIAL CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO CITY CHEVROLET OF SAN DIEGO (2111 MORENA BLVD, SAN DIEGO, CA 92110, (619) 597-1636). THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, BUT INDICATED THAT IT MAY BE RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V509000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,700.
WHILE DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOPPED FUNCTIONING TO INCLUDE MY HORN, AIRBAG, ESP, AND TRACTION CONTROL. AFTER RESEARCHING THE WEB I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON ALL VW MODELS AND OCCURS AROUND 40,000 MILES. APPARENTLY THE VW CLOCKSPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY HAS A DESIGN FLAW, AND THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. *TR
TWO YEARS AGO THEY PROMISED TO REPLACE AIRBAGS BUT HAVE NOT DONE SO. WE WANT TO GET NEW CAR BUT WE CANNOT SELL IT WITH THIS RECALL IN EFFECT. HOW CAN WE GET THEM TO FIX OUR CAR. OR CAN WE MAKE THEM BUY IT BACH.
DRIVING AT 65 MPH SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM WAS BLOCKED. BECOME VERY HARD TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL & ALSO VERY NOISE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO MOVE IT. THE CAR WAS TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID. THAT THE STEERING GEAR BOX FAILED. LATER ON THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FREE PHONE LINE OF VW SAID THAT WAS A QUALITY ISSUE. THEY SAID ARE NOT LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE IS NOT WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD. FOR THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE GONE TO GET MY CAR CHECKED OUT, AND THE PROBLEM ISN'T GETTING RESOLVED. THERE'S A CONSTANT RATTLING, THAT MAKES THE CAR SEEMED UNBALANCED OF SORTS. ALSO MY TIRES ARE GETTING USED UP, VERY RAPIDLY AS LITTLE AS 2-3 MONTHS. THEY SAY THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BUT STILL MY CAR NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT IN FOR THE SAME THING. *TR
COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BRAKES. TRIED TO STOP AT 90 DEGREE TURN AND PEDAL WENT WITHIN TWO INCHES OF THE FLOOR. CAR HAD ALMOST NO BRAKES. WENT OFF THE ROAD BUT WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT OUT OF 6 FOOT DITCH. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT A FAILURE IN THE VACUUM PUMP CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THIS FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A BROKEN PART INSIDE. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. NO WARNING OF FAILURE WHATSOEVER. VW TREATED IT LIKE IT WAS THE SAME AS A FLAT TIRE. I FELT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ASKED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE REMAINDER OF THE LEASE. I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T DO THAT. I TRADED THE CAR FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE AS I FELT THE VW CC WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO PULL ON THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO RELEASE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO DID NOT PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,678. UPDATED 05/02/12*BF THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED A HEADLINER CLIP HAD BECOME LOST DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HEADLINER AND HAD BECOME LODGED BEHIND THE FOOT PEDAL. UPDATED 05/11/12
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FELL OFF WHEN THE HINGE SNAPPED UPON OPENING. ALSO, THE UNDER BODY SHIELD FELL OFF, EXPOSING THE BRAKE LINES TO ROAD DEBRIS THAT MAY HIT IT. *TR
TAKATA RECALL AND MORE. I DONT KWN THE VEHICLE ANY LONGER, HAD UNTIL OCTOBER 2P16. I DONT BELIEVE WE WERE EVER MADE AWARE OF ANY OF THE SEEMKNGLY SERIOUS RECALLS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I DROVE MY TWO CHILDREN KN THIS VEHICLE DAILY AND AM SHOCKED AT TJE SERIOUS NATURE OF THE RECALLS WE WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT. SKMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING; HOWEVER, THEY RESUMED WHEN THE CONTACT ACCELERATED AT 10 MPH OR MORE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER HE DROVE BELOW 10 MPH AND WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED A TECHNICIAN WOULD COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEALER FOR A POSSIBLE RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE SET THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN THE LOW POSITION, THEY OPERATED SUFFICIENTLY AS LONG AS HE WAS DRIVING, BUT WHEN HE STOPPED AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS, STOP SIGNS OR FOR ANY REASON THE WIPERS WOULD SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, LEAVING NO VISIBILITY THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER STATED HE REMAINED WITHOUT VISION UNTIL HE MOVED SEVERAL FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION. THE DEALER RESOLVED THE ISSUE, BUT REFUSED TO ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. UPDATED 11/15/11
