While I was driving I notice my steering wheel making a crumbling of plastic noise when I made any kind of turn . A few days later my Airbag error lamp started to blink. I parked and restarted my engine then the airbag became solid . My dash read “Airbag Error” . I notice all my steering wheel buttons do not work . Came home and neither does my horn . My car has never been in accident , but I feel it’s a safety hazard . I’m basically driving mute and I’m sure my airbag will not deploy in case of accident . Also, Vw does have a recall on the Clock spring but was never completed due to not hearing back from manufacturer . That was a few years back and do not understand how recalls work , but a recall was started for a reason and NOT completed. Is that even possible? This a serious safety issue if I’m in an accident without an Airbag . Also the horn will not work in case to warn other drivers of a possible fatal hazard
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen CC. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. Additionally, the horn was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that no fault codes were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,652.
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen CC. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the air bag warning light would remain illuminated and the horn would not operate. In addition, the cruise control was inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V483000 (Air Bags). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF HER VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF BETWEEN 55-70 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. NONE OF THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH CAUSED THE GEAR SHIFT, DASHBOARD, AND BATTERY COMPARTMENTS OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO CRUMBLE INWARD AND BREAK APART. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S RIGHT LEG AND HIP WERE PINNED DOWN. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD AND SUFFERED A DISLOCATED KNEE CAP, PELVIS FRACTURES IN THREE PLACES, FOUR BROKEN RIBS, NINE STITCHES TO THE FOREHEAD, CUTS AND BRUISES ON BOTH ARMS, TWO SEIZURES, AND A BURN TO THE FACE DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG. THE OTHER DRIVER SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR FIVE DAYS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY TO THEIR LOCATION FOR INVESTIGATION. FINDLAY VOLKSWAGEN (983 AUTO SHOW DR, HENDERSON, NV 89014, (702) 558-6600) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF BEING APPRAISED TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT 43 TO 50 MPH, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSS ABILITY TO MOVE WHILE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, (LIKE IT HAD BEEN SWITCHED TO NEUTRAL). THE ENGINE JUST REVVED AS THE CAR CAME TO A STOP ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING. THE PARK BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DRIVE INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION WHILE OTHER DRIVERS WERE BLOWING AND YELLING AT ME FOR BLOCKING TRAFFIC. AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 7 TO 10 MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DROVE NORMALLY.
REGARDING THE ONGOING INVESTIAGTION FOR FAILED REPLACEMENT OF THE CLOCK SPRING RECALL. (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA18003). TWO WEEKS AGO, WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT MY STEERING WHEEL MADE A DISCERNING CLICKING SOUND. AFTER RETURNING TO MY CAR I NOTICED AN AIRBAG ERROR AS WELL AS ALL CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL NOT FUNCTIONING INCLUDING THE HORN. SINCE THEN THESE PROBLEMS HAVE REMAINED. I HAVE CHECKING MY VIN TO SEE IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED FOR THE RECALL BUT THERE ARE NONE. I PRESUME THAT THE REPLACEMENT CLOCK SPRING IS FAULTY JUST LIKE THE ONE THAT WAS REPLACED.
LOW BEAM LIGHTS STOP WORKING. TURN LIGHTS OFF AND THEN BACK ON, LIGHTS WOULD WORK FOR 3 MINUTES. MUST REPEAT TO KEEP LIGHTS ON. THIS IS BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY.

FAILURE OF THE INLET MAIFOLD FOUND FROM CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE 2 YEARS APART. ONE AT APPROX.92000 AND AGAIN AT 111000
TAKATA INFLATORS. I WENT AND GOT MY FUEL PUMP RECALL COMPLETED MONTHS AGO AND MY LOCAL DEALER DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE AIRBAG RECALL. THEY SAID IT TAKES ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO TO RECEIVE THE PART AND IT HAS BEEN MUCH LONGER THAN THAT AND THEY STILL AREN'T ABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS RECENTLY COME ON AND I SAW THAT THERE IS ALSO A RECALL FOR A CLOCK SPRING. I GOT MY CAR CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED A CLOCK SPRING REPLACEMENT. I NOTIFIED VOLKSWAGEN OF THIS AND WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL BUT HOW CAN THAT BE WHEN THE EFFECTED MODELS ARE VOLKSWAGEN CC 2011-2014. THEY ARE REFUSING TO MAKE REPAIRS ON MY VEHICLE. I AM 8 MONTHS PREGNANT AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE ON MY COMMUTE TO AND FROM WORK. MY LOCAL DEALER IS UNRELIABLE AS THEY ARE NEVER ABLE TO COMPLETE REPAIRS. WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS TURNING INTO A RESTAURANT AND HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. MY HORN NO LONGER WORKS NOR DO THE BUTTONS ON MY STEERING WHEEL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE AND EPC (ELECTRONIC POWER CONTROL) WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE REOCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO VOLKSWAGEN OF OAKLAND DEALER (2740 BROADWAY, OAKLAND, CA 94610, (866) 920-4215) WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MICHAEL VOLKSWAGEN (6061 N BLACKSTONE AVE, FRESNO, CA 93710, (559) 431-7504) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE, FUEL PUMP, AND HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V509000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL ONLY COVERED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING ABNORMAL NOISE (TICKING). CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND LET THEM KNOW I WAS BRINGING IT IN TO BE CHECKED OUT. ON THE WAY THERE THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND I PULLED OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. SEVERAL DAYS LATER DEALERSHIP CALLED AND TOLD ME THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND CATASTROPHICLY DESTROYED THE ENGINE. PURCHASED THE VEHICLE CERTIFIED USED WITH 25,578 MILES. AT THE TIME OF THE ENGINE FAILURE IT HAD 62,569 MILES. THE TIMING CHAIN THAT DESTROYED THE ENGINE PREMATURELY FAILED. I HEARD ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT IN NEW JERSEY FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARED MY MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE WAS IN THE GROUP TO BE REIMBURSED FOR DAMAGES. WITH NO OTHER OPTIONS I HAD TO TAKE MONEY FROM MY RETIREMENT SAVINGS AND REPLACE THE ENGINE. AFTER ABOUT ONE MONTH I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THEY HAD BAD NEWS. APPARENTLY AFTER REPLACING THE ENGINE, THEY STARTED THE CAR AND IN TWO MINUTES THEY HEARD AN ABNORMAL KNOCK COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND TOLD ME THAT THE NEW ENGINE WAS GOING TO NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOW I JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY YEAR VEHICLE 2013 CC VW IS NOT PART OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. ALL THE EXACT ISSUES I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT HAVE HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY THIS DEFECT IS NOT LIMITED TO ONLY THE VEHICLES IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND PAID EXTRA FOR IT BECAUSE IT WAS CERTIFIED USED. I NEEDED A VERY RELIABLE COMMUTE VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK AND BACK HOME SAFELY. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAVING MY CAR FOR OVER TWO MONTHS, I WAS DRIVING A COUPLE DAYS LATER AND THE CAR HESITATED AT A STOP AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME ONE OF THE FUEL INJECTORS WAS "ACTING UP". VWOF A KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE TIMING CHAIN. NOW I HAVE TO GIVE THEM MORE MONEY!!!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CLOCK SPRING HAD FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CLOCK SPRING WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

TAKATA RECALL - AIR BAG ERROR WARNING AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE TAKATA HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. CLICKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AFTERWARDS FAILURE OF ALL BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. SUSPECTED FAILURE OF THE CLOCK SPRING.
MY FUEL PUMP ISN'T WORKING ON MY VEHICLE WHICH THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL FROM VOLKSWAGEN WHICH WAS PUT IN PLACE AUGUST OF 2017 THIS IS NOW MID APRIL AND MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF COMMISSION AND VOLKSWAGEN CLAIM EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE OPEN RECALL THEY AREN'T AUTHORIZED TO START MAKING THE REPAIRS FOR THESE FAULTY VEHICLES WHICH LEAVES US CONSUMERS STUCK WITH UNSAFE VEHICLES AND IN MY CASE AN VEHICLE I'M MAKING PAYMENTS ON BUT CAN'T CURRENTLY DRIVE BECAUSE MY FUEL SYSTEM WENT COMPLEXITY OUT SO NOW MY CAR WON'T CRANK WHICH LEAVES ME IN AN EXTREME BIND CONSIDERING I USE MY CAR FOR WORK. SO NOW I'M CURRENTLY OUT OF WORK I SPOKE WITH THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY CAN'T OFFER ANY LOANERS OR ANY ASSISTANCE UNTIL THEY RECEIVE AUTHORIZATION TO START REPAIRS. 8 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AND THEY ARE STILL NOT AUTHORIZED TO MAKE THESE REPAIRS????? THEY CLAIM THEY STILL HAVE NOT BEEN SHIPPED THE PARTS????? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON AFFECTED BY THIS SITUATION IT'S A RECALL ON 281,000 VEHICLES MADE BY THEM. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD ACT SWIFTLY IN REPAIRING THESE VEHICLES MY CAR INITIALLY WOULD STALL OFTEN BUT I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE AGAIN IT'S MY ONLY MEANS ON TRANSPORTATION AND I HAVE A LOAN OUT ON IT AND CAN'T JUST NOT MAKE MY CAR PAYMENTS OR MY CREDIT WILL BE SCREWED. SO AFTER DRIVING AN U SAFE CAR THAT STALLS ON THE HIGHWAYS, LOCAL ROADWAYS AND ANYWHERE ELSE I MAY HAVE DRIVEN MY VEHICLE NOW IT'S NOT WORKING AT ALL AND THERE'S NOTHING THEY ARE DOING ABOUT IT AS OF YET.....8 MONTHS AFTER THEY ISSUED THE RECALL AND STILL NO HELP TO THE CONSUMERS DEALING WITH THESE ISSUES

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE FAILURE WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VOLKSWAGEN OF SOUTH CHARLOTTE (9900 SOUTH BOULEVARD, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA 28273, 704-612-0407) SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE, BUT A DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODE WAS UNABLE TO BE FOUND. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS A RESULT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V509000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,379. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
"TAKATA RECALL" WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALER OVER 6 MONTHS AGO TO GET OUR AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. TO DATE, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED OR EVEN PLACED ON THE SCHEDULE. OUR LOCAL DEALER HAS BLAMED VW CORPORATE THE ENTIRE WAY. WE ARE GOING ON VACATION JULY 14TH-21ST 2018 AND REACHED OUT TO VW CORPORATE FOR HELP IN THE WAY OF A LOANER VEHICLE. AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF ON HOLD, THEY HAVE NOT COME UP WITH ANY SUITABLE OPTIONS. THEY ARE REFUSING A RENTAL CAR AND CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT OUR CAR WILL BE FIXED BEFORE WE LEAVE. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND WE'VE BEEN DRIVING IT DAILY BECAUSE WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. OUR CHILDREN WILL BE IN THIS CARD DURING VACATION AND VW DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE.
CAR HAS STALLED 2X WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WILL BUCK AND HESITATE AT ABOUT 2K TO 3K RPM AND HAVE VIRTUALLY 0 ACCELERATION. THE EPC LIGHT WILL KICK ON AND THEN THE CAR HAS SLOWER ACCELERATION BUT IT DOES NOT BUCK AND HESITATE. THE ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND WARMING UP. WHEN THE CAR STALLED, I WAS DOWNSHIFTING, AND THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR JUST DIED. HAD TO PULL OVER AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD THEN BUCK AND HESITATE AGAIN UNTIL THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN CROSSING A ROAD AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY IN SAN DIEGO, MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND LOSING POWER. THEN THE EPC & CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS TURNED ON, ON THE DASHBOARD. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, AND DRIVE OFF THE UPCOMING EXIT RAMP. I LOST TOTAL ENGINE POWER, AND I HAD TO CALL THE TOWING TRUCK TO TAKE ME TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP, AS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I WAITED 5 HOURS TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING, AS I LIVE IN ANOTHER CITY. THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THEY RECORDED SEVERAL PISTON MISFIRES, BUT AFTER RESETTING THE COMPUTER, THE FAULTS NEVER CAME BACK. THEIR INTERNAL POLICY REQUIRED THE FAULT TO BE PRESENT FOR THE COMPANY TO COMPLY TO REPLACE FAULTY PARTS, EVEN WHEN THEY HAD THE RECORDS. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME, AND ADVISED TO TAKE THE CAR AND DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LIVED. I DID SO, AND I GOT THE SAME RESPONSE FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME DUE TO INTERNAL POLICIES, AND THAT I SHOULD DRIVE THE CAR AS IS, UNTIL THE ISSUE CAME UP AGAIN. I EXPLAINED THIS COULD PUT ME & MY FAMILY AT RISK OF INJURY, EVEN POSSIBLE DEATH DUE TO A HIGHWAY ACCIDENT, NOT TO MENTION THE COST I COULD INCUR FOR ANOTHER TOW TRUCK & HOTEL EXPENSES. THEY DECLINED TO REPLACE THE PARTS, EVEN AFTER I OPENED A CASE WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT MANAGER. I EXPLAINED I WOULD HAVE TO SEEK LEGAL ADVICE AS I FELT I WAS BEING A VICTIM OF FRAUD BY WV COMPANY. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NOT ONLY NOT FIXED MY PROBLEM, BUT HE CHARGED ME WITH A CHECK-UP FEE. WE HAD THE PASSENGER AIR BAG REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL, EVER SINCE THE DASH LIGHTS, AIR BAG AND OTHERS HAVE BEEN COMING ON, NOW THEY STAY ON ALL THE TIME. THE VW GARAGE SAID IT WAS THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION MODULE. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL AFTER WE HAD THE PASSENGER AIR BAG REPLACED.

WHEN I TRY TO START MY CAR, MY STEERING STARTS SHAKING BADLY FOR 30 SECONDS. THE WHOLE CAR IS SHAKING AS WELL. AFTER THE SHAKING, THE STEERING FREEZES AND LOCKED. THIS CONTAMINATION MAY TEAR THE CABLE AND RESULT IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG. CONSEQUENCE: A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG WILL PREVENT THE AIR BAG FROM DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. THE LOCAL VW DEALER SAYS OUR CAR IS NOT INCLUDED HOWEVER, NOTHING WORKS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IN THE DASH IS ON. WHEN CONTACTING VW DIRECT I AM TOLD NHTSA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EXPANDING THE RECALL TO INCLUDE OUR VIN. QUESTIONS? IS OUR CAR SAFE TO DRIVE? IF WE HAVE A FRONT END COLLISION WILL THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG WORK? IF NHTSA IS AWARE OF 420,000 RECALLS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE WILL THE RECALL BE EXPANDED TO COVER OTHER VIN? THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX AND ALL LOGIC TELLS ME IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL.
