THERE HAS BEEN A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH ABNORMAL NOISE IN THE TWO FRONT DOORS OF THE VEHICLE. SO FAR THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO OR WANT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. NLM
WHILE COMING OUT OF DRIVEWAY BOTH SIDE AND FRONT AIRBAGS ON PASSANGER'S SEAT DEPLOYED WITH NO REASON.*AK
THE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY ON MY JETTA PARTIALLY DETACHES WHENEVER IT SCRAPES AGAINST A CURB OR PARKING BLOCK. I HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED THREE TIMES AND TRIED TO REPAIR IT MYSELF THREE TIMES. I HAVE SPENT OVER FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MUCH MORE WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM THAN IS BEING REPORTED. @ 20000 MILES DESERT VW PERFORMED WARRENTY SERVICE (5 WEEKS AGO) WHICH INCLUDED A COMPLETE BREAK INSPECTION. AT THE TIME NO PROBLEM WAS SEEN. @ 22000 MILES BOTH PADS ON THE BACK WERE TOTALLY GONE. I UNDERSTAND VW USED A THINNER PAD ON THE 2001 JETTA'S. THIS WAS TO CUT DOWN ON NOISE NOTED ON THE 2000 MODELS IN 2002 VW WENT BACK TO THE OLD PADS. I CONTACTED VW OF AMERICA, AND DESERT VW. BOTH TOLD ME CHANGING THE BACK BRAKES @ 22000 MILES WAS NORMAL. HOW WAS MY PADS BEING WORN DOWN TO NOTHING MISSED AT 20000? @ 22000 I'M DOING A BRAKE JOB ON THE BACK BRAKES ONLY? IT WOULD SEEM THAT BRAKES, (ON THE BACK), SHOULD LAST 2 TO 1 FROM THE FRONT. THE SHOP THAT DID THE REPAIR SAID HE HAS NEVER ENCOUNTED THIS BEFORE AND THIS SHOP HANDLES IMPORTS ONLY. CONSUMER NOTICED A DECREASE IN ACCELERATION ABILITY. DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THE COIL SPRINGS WERE BAD. BUT WILL ONLY REPLACE THEM AS THEY GO OUT. CONSUMER FEELS UNSAFE DRIVING WITH 3 DEFECTIVE COIL SPRINGS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*JB
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION COIL PACKS. ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND STALLS. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE IGNITION COILS WERE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT THEY ALSO TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW FOR HOW LONG THEY WERE GOING TO LAST FOR. TS

CONSUMER WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE FOLLOW UP WAS FOR THIS VEHICLE REGARDING THE DEFFECTIVE AIRBAGS. *JG *JB
THE COIL PACK FAILED ON THE VEHICLE, THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED CONSUMER ONLY THE DEFECTIVE COILS WOULD BE REPLACED. *JB
THE LOCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DID NOT LOCK WITH THE KEY OR THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER HAD TO LOCK THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. *JB
THE GEAR WAS HARD TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND THE BRAKE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT IT IN THE REAR. CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS DUE TO BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FAILING. *AK
BRAKE LAMP SWITCH DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY WHICH CAUSES BRAKE LIGHTS TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT WITH ABS AS STATED IN RECALL 02 V 031 000, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKES AT 30-35 MPH FROM REAR AND FRONT OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY TECHNICIAN, CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*AK
PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE'S IGNITION COILS.*MR CONSUMER'S VEHICLE DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE MANUFACTURED AFTER THE PRODUCTION OF HER VEHICLE. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. *PH *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 65/70 MPH VEHICLE WENT OVER A SMALL OBSTACLE IN THE ROAD. WHEN THIS OCCURRED PASSENGER'S SIDE CURTAIN AND SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *AK
BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT REPEATEDLY. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP A NUMBER OF TIMES, YET THE PROBLEM KEEPS RECURRING. VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE.*AK
PASSENGER'S SIDE AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH.*AK
THE CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 55 MPH AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CURTAIN/ SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE SAME DAY VEHICLE WAS PARKED DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING CONSUMER HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE DEPARTMENT. DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A REAR BRAKE PROBLEM. CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS METAL TO METAL GRINDING OF THE BRAKES. PADS AND ROTORS WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOST POWER WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. A TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. CONSUMER APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED CLEANING DUE TO INTAKE MANIFOLD BEING CLOGGED WITH CARBON. *AK
