CONSUME RWAS TRAVELING 25MPH ON A SIDE STREETAND HIT A DRAINAGE GATE, AND PASSENGER'S AIRBAG WENT OFF. HE HAS CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. *AK IE04-078*PO
THE TRUNK PROTECTION PLATE (STAINLESS STEEL) AT THE LATCH CUTOUT AREA IS RAZOR SHARP CAUSING ME TO CUT A CHUNK OF MEAT OUT OF MY FINGER TO THE BONE REQUIRING MEDICAL ATTENTION. I CALLED VW AND THEY STATED THAT THE CONSUMERS SAFETY WAS NOT THEIR CONCERN. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE TO RECALL THIS PART AND FIT IT WITH A PROTECTIVE GASKET OF SOME SORT.*AK
VEHICLE STALLS AT ANY SPEED/ ANY TIME. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. TAKEN TO DEALER WHO REPAIRED. HOWEVER, VEHICLE STALLS ON A DAILY BASIS, TAKEN TO DEALER 6 TIMES, CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
SINCE I HAVE HAD MY JETTA I HAVE HAD TO KEEP OIL IN THE TRUNK BECAUSE THE CAR BURNS OIL, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR A CAR TO USE THAT MUCH OIL, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE SWITCH REPLACED, THE ARM REST LATCH REPLACED, CD PLAYER REPLACED TWICE, MY PASSENGER REAR BRAKE LIGHTS BURN OUT REGULARLY (ONLY PASSENGER SIDE), MY KEY IN THE IGNITION ALARM AND LIGHTS LEFT ON ALARM TURNED AND STAYED ON EVERYTIME I DROVE MY CAR. THE DEALER'S SOLUTION TO ALL THESE PROBLEMS WAS TO DOWNGRADE MY CAR AND BUY A VW BEETLE. I PURCHASED A 2002 USED BEETLE - DEALER ALLOWED ME TAKE CAR AND PROMISED TO FIX ANYTHING ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. THERE WAS A LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT WAS LIT UP CALLED EPC - I ASKED THE DEALER WHAT THE LIGHT WAS FOR AND THEY SAID THAT THE ALIGNMENT NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED NO BIG DEAL THEY WOULD FIX IT WHEN I RETURNED ON MONDAY. I DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT GOT ABOUT 20 MILES FOR THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CAR DIED ON THE FREEWAY!!!!! WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I READ IN THE CAR MANUAL THAT EPC STOOD FOR ELECTRIC POWER CONTROL - IT SAID IF THIS LIGHT GOES ON DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE - TOW TO DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY - AFTER THAT I MARCHED RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALER AND GOT MY JETTA BACK - HOWEVER I STILL HAVE ALL OF THE ABOVE PROBLEMS AND FEW TO ADD TO THE LIST DEFECTIVE ELECTRIC WINDOW, NOISY BRAKES WHEN IN REVERSE EVEN AFTER BRAKES WERE REPLACED. I CAN'T WAIT TO TURN THE PIECE OF @#$%# IN TO THE DEALER WHEN MY LEASE IS UP AND WALK AWAY - I JUST FEEL SORRY FOR THE FOOL THEY TURN AROUND AND SELL IT TO! *LA
VW DEALER REFUSES TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, NOR DO THEY RECOGNIZE THE BRAKE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE'S FUEL INJECTORS HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND WAS SERVICED ON 11-28-01 BY THE DEALER. THEY REFUSE TO COOPERATE WITH ME IN WORKING THESE MATTERS OUT IN A FAIR MANNER. *AK
AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR . THIS NEVER HAPPENS AT FIRST START.*AK *YD
THIS PART WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, MY WARRANTY IS ALMOST UP, HOW MANY MORE WILL I HAVE TO REPLACE?*AK
THE 2001 VW JETTA HAS HAD THREE O2 (OXYGEN) SENSOR FAILURES SINCE PURCHASE IN SEPTEMBER 2000. IN ADDITION HAVE EXPERIENCED THE NEED, ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP, TO HAVE O2 SENSOR CLEANED, WHICH AGAIN CAUSED ENGINE LIGHT TO APPEAR. HAVE TALKED TO VW OF AMERICA, CLAIM MY JETTA IS NOT ONE OF THE CARS ISSUED AS A RECALL FOR THE O2 ISSUED ON 1/11/2002. YET IT IS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM. HAVE SPOKEN TO TWO VW MECHANICS. THEY CLAIM VW IS AWARE THEIR SUPPLIER OF THE PART HAS MANUFACTURED FAULTY O2 SENSORS, YET CONTINUE TO PURCHASE THESE PARTS. TALKED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON AN O2 NEEDING A 'CLEANING'. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THIS SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY FOR ANY VEHICLE. MAKES ME WONDER IF THIS IS TO AVOID THE LEMON LAW -- LIST THE REPAIR AS A CLEANING INSTEAD OF REPLACEMENT. VW OF AMERICA HAS ISSUED ME A CASE NUMBER, YET VW FEELS THIS IS A DEALER PROBLEM NOT A CORPORATE PROBLEM. I STRONGLY DISAGREE, BASED ON HAVING AN O2 SENSOR FAIL FROM TWO VW DEALERSHIPS. THE DEALERSHIPS CAN ONLY SUPPLY THE PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER INWHICH VW HAS AUTHORIZED. CONFIDENCE IN VW'S RECALL JARRED. EXPERIENCE WITH THEIR COSUMER SERVICE AND SATISFACTION DISMAL. MY JETTA IS EXPERIENCING SOME SITUATIONS AS THE RECALLED CARS, YET I AM NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL UMBRELLA. THE CEHCK ENGING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS A FAULTY IGNITION COIL. TS *JB
ONE WEEK AFTER PURCHASING MY 2001 JETTA, MY FRONT BUMPER WAS ALMOST ENTIRELY RIPPED OFF AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. IT CAUGHT ON THE PARKING CURB AND SUBSEQUENTLY RIPPED OFF. UPON CONTACTING VW I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY DRIVING AND IT WOULD COST OVER $300 TO REPAIR. IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES. TWO YEARS LATER, NOW MY CAR IS PAID OFF AND I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER VW DEALERSHIP TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD FIX THE BUMPER. I DID AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY WANTED $237.00 TO FIX IT. THEN THEY ASKED WHAT I DID TO IT. I EXPLAINED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES. THEY STATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. UPON PICKING UP MY CAR I BROUGHT AN ARTICLE REGARDING THE BUMPERS, THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT, THEY STATED, "WE KNOW, WE HAVE SEEN ALL THE ARTICLES, BUT WE HAVE NO CLOUT WITH VW, ONLY THE CONSUMER". SO, I NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER DEFECTS, BUT THIS IS A MAJOR ONE THAT VW IS NOT WILLING TO REPAIR. THE OTHERS THEY HAVE AT LEAST ATTEMPTED TO FIX. *NM
WHILE INSTALLING A CSS ALL REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLES AND ANCHORS WERE PULLED OUT.*AK
TRANSMISSION REPLACED ON FEBRUARY 8, AND ABS SENSOR REPLACED ON FEBRUARY 21. BRAKES HAD FAILED. *AK
VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED A MINIMUM OF 20 TIMES FOR REOCCURING PROBLEMS. SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD 800 MILES ON IT, IT HAS HAD ISSUES RUNNING PROPERLY. VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON MORE THAN A FEW OCCASIONS, AND PUT BOTH MY CHILD AND WIFE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BY MY STANDARDS. HERE IS A SMALL SAMPLE OF WHATS BEEN REPLACED ON A 3 YEAR OLD 40500 MILE VEHICLE: THROTTLE BODY 4 TIMES SECONDARY AIR PUMP 2 TIMES DIVERTER VALVE 2 TIMES COILS 5 TIMES ENGINE WIRING HARNESS ABS CONTROL UNIT FUSE FOR SECONDARY AIRPUMP ECM 2 TIMES ARMREST ON DOOR 2 TIMES CENTER CONSOLE ARMREST 2 TIMES REAR BRAKES UNDER WARRANTY AT 10K MILES
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MAKES HIGH PITCH SOUND ON ACCELERATION/ AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ERRATIC/ VEHICLE DID NOT PROCEED FORWARD ON ACCELERATION IN DRIVE POSITION, REMAINED IDLE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO VERIFY IF ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF, SHIFT HANDLE LOCKED UP IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE, FREE FROM NEUTRAL AND PUT BACK INTO PARK POSITION WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, CAR JUMPED FORWARD./ VEHICLE EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY IN REACHING SPEEDS OF 60 TO 70 MILES PER HOUR. BROUGHT CAR IN FOR INSPECTION. OTHER COMPLAINT WAS DRIVERS SEAT MOVED TOO MUCH. DEALER TO REPLACE WITH NEW SEAT HARNEST. DEALER ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION WITH NEW. I TALKED TO VW ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER AND IS TELLING ME THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TRANSMISSION. ALSO ADMITS THAT ENGINE GEARS FOR TRANSMISSION WERE FAULTY IS THE REASON FOR THE HIGH PITCH NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WISH TO EXCHANGE MY VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER. CAN YOU HELP ME DO THIS? *AK
NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!!! THE DAY I WAS TO PICK MY CAR UP, DRIVER WINDOW NEEDED REPLACEMENT. SINCE THEN IT HAS FALLEN INTO DOOR 3 TIMES. AIR CONITIONER LEAKED INTO INTERIOR, SOAKING CARPETS AND SMELLS BAD. BRAKE LIGHTS STUCK ON WHEN CAR IS OFF, ARM REST AND GLOVE BOX BROKE. RECEIVED ZERO HELP FROM DEALERSHIP OR VOLKS.OF AMERICA. WHAT IS NEXT???
PARKING ON A CURB STONE OR PARKING CEMENT BLOCK WITH FRONT OF CAR NEAR THE CEMENT STOP. (2) PLASTIC FRONT BUMBER CLIPS OVER ANY BLOCK HIGHER THAN 4 INCHES AND LIKE A LOBSTER TRAP, WHEN REVERSING, RIPS THE BUMPER FROM IT'S FASTENING. BUMPER COULD FALL OFF AND GO UNDER THE MOVING CAR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. (3) REMOVE FRONT BUMPER. *AK
IGNITION COIL MALFUNCTIONED, BUT ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP MY CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE VW CUSTOMER SERVICE ACTION REPLACING IGNITION COILS ON OTHER 2001, 2002 JETTAS. I HAVE DIFFERENT COILS? DEFECTIVE COILS ARE DEFECTIVE COILS PERIOD! THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. *AK
CAR WOULD MAKE AWFUL HIGH-PITCHED HOWLING NOISE AT 40MPH. THOUGHT IT WAS ROAD NOISE, DEALER SAID MIGHT BE DRIVESHAFT, CHANGED DRIVE SHAFT, STILL HOWLED, CHANGED TRANSMISSION, NOW IT SEEMS TO BE OK. SEEMS MANY OTHER 2001 VW JETTA'S IN THE S.FLORIDA AREA EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEMS BECAUSE I SAW MANY MORE JETTAS IN THE REPAIR SHOP, AND MOST OF THE VEHICLE OWNERS I SPOKE TO THERE SAID THEY WERE GETTING NEW TRANSMISSIONS PUT IN. SOME WERE GETTING THEIR 3RD AND 4TH CHANGES. *AK
OFTEN WHEN ACCELERATING, MY AUTOMATIC JETTA WILL SEEM TO GO INTO NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE WILL BE ROARING AND THE RPM WILL FLY UP INTO THE RED ZONE ON THE DAIL. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEEDS FROM 5 MPH- 75 MPH. IT ALWAYS OCCURS AS I GO TO ACCELERATE, OTHERWISE I CAN FIND NO OTHER SIMILARITIES OF OCCURRENCES.
DEALER HAS REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS "4" DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN LESS THAN 3,000 MILES. WE BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE UNSURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. WE HAVE HAD THE COIL PAC REPLACED 2 WEEKS LATER GROUND WIRES CLEANED @ COIL PAC,THIRD TIME IN IT HAD "10" FAULTS PULLED "MAINLEY SHORT TO GROUND WITH SPRO MISFIRE IN ALL CYLINDERS" REPLACED LOWER FUSE PANEL & FUEL PUMP RELY. MILAGE @ THIRD VISIT 2,274 MILEAGE 2ND VISIT 1,270.. 4TH VISIT MILEAGE 2,893. THEY CLAIM THE SPARK PLUG WIRE WAS MISSING INSULATION WHICH CAUSED IT TO ARC CAUSING ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON 4TH TIME. DATES OF SERVICE 12/4 00 845. MILES 12/20/00 MILEAGE 1,270.00 1/25/01 MILEAGE 2,274. 4TH VISIT 2/4/01 MILEAGE 2893.*AK
TRUNK ON VEHICLE WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK BY ITSELF WHETHER CONSUMER IS DRIVING OR NOT. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE OF PROBLEM. *AK
ACCIDENT, IMPACT AT 40 MPH, DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER STATED THAT WAS DUE TO LOCATION OF THE SENSORS. *AK
THE VEHICLE BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY ADD OIL. EVERYTIME I'VE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALER HE JUST GAVE ME THE RUN-AROUND. THEY CONDUCTED 2 OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS BUT NEVER DID ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE VEHILCE WAS PURCHASED IN NJ FROM DOUGLAS MOTORS. AT EVERY SCHEDULED SERVICE I COMPLAINED OF THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOTHING WAS DONE TO FIX IT.*AK
SUBJECT VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A MINIVAN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. PASSENGER SIDE, SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO SIDE IMPACT. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER 1 AND 3/4 TIMES. THE PASSENGER SIDE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. THE DRIVERS SIDE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG DID DEPLOY, PASSENGER SUSTAINED PERSONAL INJURY, ATTORNEY FOR CLIENT, UPDATED 1/4/01. NLM
CONSUMER WAS STRUCK ON PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEN BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
CAR WAS PARKED ON NEAR-LEVEL SURFACE OF DRIVEWAY. CAR WAS LEFT IN NEUTRAL (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) AND PARKING BRAKE WAS SET. DOORS WERE LOCKED. CAR BEGAN TO ROLL 165 FEET DOWN DRIVEWAY ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER USE. CAR RESTED IN A FENCE POST. DEALER CLAIMS THAT CAR SHOULD BE LEFT IN GEAR BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM ON THIS CAR IS HYDRAULIC, AND WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVEN, THE REAR DISC BRAKES HEAT UP, AND WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED, THE BRAKES COOL DOWN. THE SAME BRAKES THAT COOL DOWN ARE THE SAME BRAKES THAT HEAT UP. WHEN A BRAKE PAD HEATS UP, IT EXPANDS, WHEN IT COOLS DOWN, IT CONTRACTS. MY PARKING BRAKES FAILED BECAUSE THEY COOLED OFF AND BECAME INOPERABLE, CAUSING THE CAR TO ROLL ALL ON ITS OWN. I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM ON THIS CAR WAS NOT A SEPARATE DRUM BRAKE, AND I WAS NEVER ADVISED BY THE DEALER DURING DELIVERY TO LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR WHILE PARKED BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE WILL BE USELESS AFTER EVERY TRIP.*AK
WHILE DRIVING DOWN AT STEEP INCLINE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. ALSO, EXPIERENCED A PROBLEM WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH, CONSUMER TRIED TO BRAKE, AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR.*AK
THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THAT THE VW SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE AIR BAG CONTROL SYSTEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE 2 AIRBAGS WHICH WERE USED (FRONT DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER), THEN REPLACED THE FRONT SEAT BELTS, THEN REPLACED THE COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. STILL: THEY CANNOT GET THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY.
I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH MY 2001 JETTA. ONE WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUG 2001 THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE SEATS STARTED TO MOVE EVERYTIME I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. A FEW MONTHS LATER I NOTICED THAT FLOOR PADDING ON THE BACK SEAT AREA (BOTH SIDES) STARTED BULGING. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT IS NORMAL FOR ALL 2001 JETTAS. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WHO DRIVES VW AND THEY NEVER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR FLOOR PADDINGS. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE BROKE. ALL IN ALL MY DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS HAVE MALFUNCTIONED 5 TIMES. IN ADDITION TO ALL THESE PROBLEMS, THE TEMP GAUGE ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD MOVE FROM EXTREMENME HEAT TEMP TOCOLD TEM AND VICE VERSA. WHAT UPSET ME IS THAT THERE ARE TWO CURRENT RECALLS FOR 2001 JETTAS AND I HAVENT HEARD FROM VW. I WASN'T EVEN INFORMED ABOUT THE WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING INTO 4TH GEAR WHILE DRIVING THROUGHT CITY, CALLED FOR TOW TO DEALER. DEALER SAIR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. AFTER AUTO TRAVELED TO KY WHILE PARKEN IN CARPORTE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM LOWER DRIVERS SIDE UPWARDS INTO DRIVERS VIEW ABOUT 8 INCHES. DELAER REFUSS TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD IMMEDIATELY. SAYS THAT FAILURE MUST BE VERRIFIED BY SOME ONE WHO IS ON VACATION, WILL BE GONE WEEK. MONTGOMERY VW IN ELIZABETHTOWN KY, SERVICE MANAGER REPORTED THAT IT WAS A STRESS CRACK, AND THAT SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN AS UNSAFE, DEALER WILL NOT SUPPLY REPLACEMENT AUTO, OR ANYTHING TILL INSPECTION, ALL THIS TIME I AM WITHOUT A NEW AUTO. THIS IS NOT ANY WAY FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
FRONT BUMPER OF VEHICLE HAS BEEN PULLED OFF 10 TIMES DUE TO WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT BUMPER GETS STUCK ON ANY PARKING BLOCK WHICH RESULTS IN THE BUMPER BEING PULLED AWAY FROM THE CAR AND HAVING TO BE REPLACED OR REATTACHED. WE HAVE SPOKE TO OTHER JETTA TDI OWNERS AND HAVE FOUND THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERS WE HAVE SPOKE TO ARE ALSO AWARE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE BUT BECAUSE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL NOTHING THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING AND WE CONTINUALLY HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. 8JB
ELECTRONIC LOCKING SYSTEM ON VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. *MR THE DOORS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY LOCK INTERMITTENTLY. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO BECOME LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY REPROGRAMMING THE LOCKING SYSTEM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHOUT ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEM. BOTH FRONT SEATS ROCK FRONT TO BACK ON THEIR TRACKS. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO TWO DEALERS FOR A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES. ONE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM, AND SAYS THAT THERE IS NO FIX, THE OTHER SAYS THAT THE ROCKING IS NORMAL. THESE SEATS ROCK TOO MUCH. THEY ARE A DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING, THUS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS CAR IS A LEMON. THE DEALER THAT CLAIMS THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE EASILY REPLACED THE SEATS. THE DEALER THAT SAYS THIS PROBLEM IS NORMAL HAS OTHER 2001 MODELS WITH THE SAME DEATS, ALL OF WHICH DO NOT ROCK.

WHEN I PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE WITH A CONCRETE TIRE BUMPER, THE BUMPER GOT CAUGHT WHEN I PULLED OUT AND CAUSED THE PARKING LIGHT GRILL COVERS TO POP OUT. THE SERV. DEPT. REPLACXED THEM, NO CHARGE. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED THEY ACCUSED ME OF "RUNNING OVER THE TOP" OF SOMETHING, AND DAMAGING THE CAR, WHICH I DID NOT DO. THE MANUFACTURERS REFUSE TO FIX IT SAYING IT IS AN INSURANCE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH THE SER. DEPT. TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINT WITH OTHER CARS, AND EVEN THE MANAGER OF THE SERV. DEPT. SAID IT HAPPENED TO HER JETTA! I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGE, SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT. *AK

I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS REPEATEDLY WITH VW CUSTOMER CARE CONCERNING THE INFERIOR MATERIAL USED TO UPHOLSTER THE JETTA TDI (GLS). I STATED TO THEM THAT IT WAS LIKE DRIVING A GIANT LINT BRUSH! ANY CLOTHING YOU WEAR STICKS TO THE SEATS AND DOORSAND ON A GOOD DAY, EVEN THE CEILING! THE OPERATOR I SPOKE WITH WAS VERY POLITE WHEN HE ASKED ME WHAT I THOUGHT THE RESOLUTION SHOULD BE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM? I STATED TO HIM THAT THE CAR SHOULD BE COMPLETELY REUPHOLSTERED AT VW'S EXPENSE!AT WHICH POINT, HE OFFERED TO SEND ME A KIT TO HELP DEAL WITH THE LINT PROBLEM. I ASKED IF THEY HAD RECEIVED A VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND THE OPERATOR STATED, NO. I ASKED HIM, WHY DO YOU CONVENIENTLY HAVE A KIT AVAILABLE FOR A PROBLEM YOU SAY DOES NOT EXIST? WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CALL WAS VERY SILENT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO. THE KIT CONSISTED OF (1) LINT BRUSH, (EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE I PURCHASED PREVIOUSLY), AND (1) 3M CLOTH. IT IS TRULY A MYSTERY WHAT VW EXPECTS ME TO DO WITH THE 3M CLOTH...I SUPPOSE I COULD USE IT TO MUFFLE MY SCREAMS OF FRUSTRATION!*AK
A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE DEALERSHIP CONCERNING THE FACT THAT MY DRIVER SEAT IS LOOSE AND AN AUDIBLE CLICKING SOUND WAS PRESENT AS I BRAKED OR MADE SHARP TURNS. REAR LEFT WHEEL BEARING WAS MAKING NOISE AND CAUSING PULLING DURING LEFT HAND CURVES. THE GREASE WAS LIKE POWDER AND SMELLED BURNED. THE INNER RACES AND THE BEARINGS WERE PITTED BADLY. WITH THE CAR RAISED THE TIRE WOBBLED A QUARTER INCH. I HAVE A 2001 VW JETTA 4 CYL. WITH 25,000 MILES ON IT THAT BURNS 1 QT. OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO SOUTH SHORE VOLKSWAGEN WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR ALL OF ITS 5,000-MILE SERVICE APPOINTMENTS INCLUDING OIL CHANGES. ALTHOUGH VW IS TELLING ME THIS IS 'NORMAL' FOR A JETTA I DISAGREE. PER OLKSVWAGEN POLICY I AM NOW DOING OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS WHICH IS ONLY CONFIRMING THAT THE CAR DOES GO THROUGH 1 QT. OF OIL PER 1000 MILES. THERE OBVIOUSLY IS A PROBLEM WITH THE JETTA MODEL THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AT VW'S EXPENSE.*AK
I WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT 1 QUART/1000 MILES IS NORMAL. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. BURNING THIS MUCH OIL IS NOT NORMAL AND IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.*AK
