PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. HAD REPAIRED. THEN DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON.
I HAVE TWO MAJOR SAFTEY PROBLEMS THAT COULD HAVE ENDED IN A FATALITY.FIRST MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITHOUT A WARNING WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 75 MPH AND A 18 WHEELER WAS BEHIND ME THE CAR DROPT DOWN TO 40 MPH AND I ALMOST GOT REARENDED BY THE SEMI.I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILD.SECOND THING I PULLED OUT OF BURGERKING AND THE CAR HAS NO POWER AND ABOUT GOT TBONED AND THERES NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL FAILURES THAT INCLUDED THE HEADLIGHTS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING, THE DOOR SENSORS ERRONEOUSLY INDICATING THE DOORS WERE OPENED (WHICH ALSO CAUSED AN AUDIBLE WARNING CHIME TO ACTIVATE), AND THE FLOOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPERATE, THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD NO LONGER OPERATE, AND THE AIR BAG SENSOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
THROTTLE LAG EITHER IN START OR MOVING FROM 1ST TO 2ND TO 3RD TO 4TH TO 5TH TO 6TH. FELT MORE STRONG WHEN USING THE TIPTRONIC TRANSMISSION IN AUTOMATIC. ALSO FELT IN MANUAL BUT NOT AS STRONGLY, VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE WHEN PEDAL DEPRESSED UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 20 SECONDS AFTER APPLYING PRESSURE. CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN TURNING INTO OR ONTO A STREET OR HIGHWAY. THE EXPECTATION IS THE CAR WILL MOVE, BUT RESPONSE IS SLOW. THIS IS MORE NOTICEABLE AS THE WEATHER GETS WARMER.
THE DRIVER DOOR WIRING HARNESS IS TO SHORT AND IN TIME THE WIRES BREAK WHERE THE WIRES GO FROM THE BODY INTO THE DOOR. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2005 AND 2004 YEARS FOR THIS PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTING WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF VEHICLE START. LOUD CLUNK NOISE THRU 4 GEARS. CAR IN GARAGE. OST 50-75 DEGREES. AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON WITH WIRING EXTENSION COMPLETED.
I'VE GOT A 2006 JETTA, 2.0TDI WITH THE DSG, I PURCHASED 04-16-2016 FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. IT SEEMS AS IF EVERY TIME I STOPS AND TAKES IT OUT OF GEAR AND ATTEMPTS TO GO INTO REVERSE IT WON'T ENGAGE AND THE FLASH OF DEATH HAPPENS. HAS TO TURN THE CAR OFF/ON TO GET IT TO MOVE AGAIN. THIS IS A CLASSIC SAFETY HAZARD. I READ VOLKSWAGEN AND AUDI (FEW YEARS AGO) ARE RECALLING 16,000 VEHICLES BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT MAKE THEM LOSE POWER -- OR COMPLETELY STALL -- OUT OF THE BLUE.

THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES EACH TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT REPORTED THE CONCERN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WHO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE FURTHER TESTED TO DETERMINE A REPAIR SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI 2006 GOT THE PRNDS FLASH OF DEATH, AND I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE MECHATRONIC UNIT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 75MPH WHEN THE FLASHES STARTED TO OCCUR. I COULDN'T GIVE MY ENGINE ANY POWER AND I STARTED TO DECELERATE AT A QUICK PACE, AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE FOR ME AND FOR ALL OTHER OCCUPANTS ON THE HIGHWAY, BECAUSE MY FAULTY CAR COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT, THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN MANY INJURIES. I WANT TO BRING THIS ATTENTION TO THE NHTSA TO, PROVIDE ME WITH MORE INFORMATION AS TO WHY THE VEHICLE IS FAULTY, AND THE AMOUNT OF TROUBLE I WOULD BE IN IF I DIDN'T MANAGE THIS SITUATION LIKE I DID TO PROTECT MYSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND SOMETIMES FAIL TO SHIFT. THE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. AT VARIOUS TIMES, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WEST BROAD KIA (9001 WEST BROAD ST., RICHMOND, VA 23294, (804) 270-9000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG HIGH LIMIT WAS REACHED, WHICH MEANT THAT THE MEMORY SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 193,028.
MY VW JETTA HAS HAD ISSUES LOSING ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ON AND OFF, TYPICALLY WHEN IT RAINS OR THE ROADS HAVE BEEN SALTED AND IT IS SLUSHY OR SNOWING. THIS LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING AND I LOST TRACTION CONTROL, CRUISE CONTROL, TACHOMETER, ABS BRAKES AND OIL PRESSURE. THE CAR WOULD NOT IDLE. RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I FOUND THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. I INSPECTED THE HARNESS AND DISCOVERED THAT SEVERAL WIRES HAVE BEEN CHAFED BY THE PLASTIC LOOM AND WORN THROUGH THE INSULATION, EXPOSING THE WIRES. I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE POSITIVE CABLE TO THE STARTER HAD CHAFED AND WORN THROUGH THE GROUND WIRE INSULATION CREATING A POTENTIAL HAZARD TO SHORT THE BATTERY.
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD PREVIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS THEY PERTAIN TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WINDOW AND ITS CONNECTION TO ITS POWER DRAW AND BATTERY. IN 2014, THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLACED ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE FOR REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR OF THE WINDOW/DOOR MOTOR MECHANICS AND WIRING HARNESS. I AM NOW EXPERIENCING RECURRING ISSUES AND MY BRAND NEW BATTERY'S CHARGE WILL NOT HOLD - OFTEN BEYOND 24 HOURS AS A FAILURE IS CAUSING A POWER DRAW TO DRAIN THE CAR'S BATTERY.
CAMSHAFT FAILURE DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR ON A VEHICLE WITH 160,000 MILES DESPITE USING VW RECOMMENDED 505.01 SPECIFICATION OIL AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE. ENGINE DEVELOPED A RATTLING NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, DECREASED PERFORMANCE, EXCESSIVE BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF TAIL PIPE, AND $1500 REPAIR BILL. DUAL MASS TRANSMISSION FLYWHEEL FAILURE ON A VEHICLE WITH 120,000 MILES RESULTED IN RATTLING NOISE IN THE TRANSMISSION, VIBRATION OF THE WHOLE VEHICLE AND $1200 REPAIR BILL. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE WIDESPREAD. MULTIPLE OWNERS OF THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE EXACT SAME ISSUES DUE TO POOR QUALITY PARTS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AND FIX THESE ISSUES DUE TO THEM BEING WIDESPREAD. THERE ARE NUMEROUS DISCUSSIONS ON PUBLIC FORUMS OF THESE ISSUES AS WELL.
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY (HUTCHINSON RIVER PARKWAY, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY), MY POWER DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED MOVING FORWARD (TOWARDS THE WHEEL) ON ITS OWN. I STOPPED IT BY PUSHING BACK ON THE SWITCH. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE MORE WITHIN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES AND AGAIN OVERNIGHT (LAST NIGHT) WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED (I CAME TO IT THIS MORNING AND FOUND THE SEAT WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY FORWARD). OBVIOUSLY, A DRIVER'S SEAT WITH A MIND OF ITS OWN COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THE SEAT MOVING WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED MEANS IT MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO BE STOPPED EVEN BY SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. AT 6FT2, I WOULD BE CRUSHED IF I WERE UNABLE TO STOP THE SEAT FROM MOVING UP.
AIR BAG SENSORS - DEFECTIVE. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE SENSORS IN THIS VEHICLE TWICE IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE JULY OF 2015, GOING ABOUT 70 MPH, MY 2006 VW JETTA SHOOK AND LOST ALL POWER. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR ANY LIGHTS AT THAT MATTER CAME ON. PRIOR TO THIS I WOULD NOTICE THAT TAKING OFF SOMETIMES THE TURBO WOULDNT KICK IN AND I WOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER WHILE GETTING UP TO SPEED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AND ONCE OFF OF THE FREEWAY I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AND WAS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER I LOST ALL POWER THE SECOND INCIDENT, I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT 2 CYLINDERS WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. HAD TO SPEND 2400 DOLLARS TO HAVE A NEW MOTOR PUT IN AND NOW THE THING IS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. BATTERY LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF WITHIN A SECOND AND THERE IS A LOUD TICKING NOISE WHILE IDLING. SOUNDS LIKE A LOUD VACUUM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE DRIVING IT. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASES ARE PRESENT. WHILE RESEARCHING RECALLS I NOTICED THERE WERE SOME FOR THE YEAR OF MY JETTA SO WANTED TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT FELL ASLEEP AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND MOUTH INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. UPDATED 8/6/15*CN THE CONSUMER ALSO EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED, BUT BEGAN TO JOLT AND MOVE SLOWLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY "GEORGIA FUEL" AND THAT THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. ALSO, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAR WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REWIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA EQUIPPED WITH AFTERMARKET SPYDER HEADLIGHTS, PART NUMBER: 444VG06-HID-DRL-BK. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY ADEQUATELY ENOUGH TO SEE AT NIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
JUST GOT THE CAR AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER SAID THE WIPER FLUID STOPPED WORKING. *TR
TDI ENGINE WIRING HARNESS CHAFED INSIDE THE WIRE LOOM CAUSE NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES. INCLUDING ABS, STEERING MODULE, AIRBAG, ENGINE SPEED SENSOR, TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND STABILITY CONTROL. VERY DIFFICULT AND COSTLY TO DIAGNOSE.
DRIVER SEAT LOWER RIGHT BACK OVERHEATED. BURNT A HOLE IN THE SEAT AND MELTED THE COAT I WAS WEARING. SMELL OF BURNING IN THE CAR AND INTENSE HEAT ON MY BACK. TURNED OFF THE SEAT HEAT. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, NOTICED THE BURN IN THE SEAT AND LATER NOTICED A BURN ON MY COAT. INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED, NEVER FLOODED OR ABUSED. NOW I HAVE A CAR DRIVER SEAT THAT IS BADLY DAMAGED, A RUINED COAT AND SCARED TO OPERATE THE CAR OR TO PARK IN MY GARAGE IN FEAR OF A FIRE THAT COULD BURN DOWN MY HOUSE AND CAR PUTTING MY SELF AND FAMILY IN HARMS WAY. I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL VW CARS IN THE PAST WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE SAME SPOT AND WAS ALWAYS THANKFUL THAT IT WAS NOT MY CAR. NOW IT IS MY CAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. CALLED THE VW DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CAN CAUSE A BAD BURN ON A PERSON. I AM GLAD I HAD A COAT ON WHILE DRIVING, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HAD TO SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR THE BURN. WOULD LIKE TO SEE VW CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND REPLACE THE SEAT AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNERS. AFTER REPLACING THE CAM SHAFT AND TIMING BELT I TOOK THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE. THE PROBLEMS WERE APPARENT, A HARD SHIFT FROM A STOP INTO FIRST GEAR AND HARD SHIFTS ALL THE WAY TO 4TH GEAR. FROM A FULL STOP IT WILL NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR AND IF IT DOES IT JOLTS. MULTIPLE TIMES CROSSING TRAFFIC THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOT RESPOND, AND I HAVE NEARLY BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES. I BROUGHT IT INTO A SERVICE SHOP AND THEY HAVE SAID IT IS THE MECHATRONICS UNIT THAT CONTROLS THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD THAT IS AN ISSUE IN MANY VEHICLES LIKE MINE, AND TO REPORT IT TO NHTSA AND VOLKSWAGEN. *TR
VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2006 SAGGING HEADLINER FABRIC FROM HEADLINER. THE SEPARATED HEADLINER FABRIC CREATES A VISIBILITY OBSTRUCTION AND POSSIBLY A DANGER TO THE DRIVERS VISIBILITY. IT SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT WAS TOLD THAT WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, REPAIR WOULD BE UP TO ME. COST TO FIX IT AT THE DEALER IS HOWEVER OVER $1000. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OR WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS WHILE THE GAS PEDAL IS BEING STEPPED ON ALSO AFTER A STOP IT WILL NOT ENGAGE AT TIMES IT STAYS ON 5 GEAR WHILE MOVING SLOWLY AND WILL NOT DOWN SHIFT. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD, WHILE ACCELERATING MY ENGINE STARTED REVVING, AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I PULLED OVER SAFELY BUT WAS UNABLE TO PUSH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. WHEN TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN, MY PRDNS ON DASH WAS FLASHING. THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD WHILE IN DRIVE OR BACKWARDS WHILE IN REVERSE. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL NOTHING HAPPENS. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE ARE RECALLS ON 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TRANSMISSIONS, BUT WONDERING IF THIS COULD BE PART OF THAT PROBLEM. *TR
THIS CAR HAD A DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS. DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY 2 YEARS AGO, NOW ITS GETTING WORST AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR IT. *TR
PURCHASED A "PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED" 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA AFTER HITTING 90,000 MILES THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND CV BOOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WAS GETTING HEAD ACHES WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AND SITTING IN TRAFFIC OR AT A STOP LIGHT. SMELLED A SULFUR LIKE SMELL FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. COULD HEAR LOUD BLOWING SOUNDS ON ACCELERATION. DEALERSHIP FOUND AN EXHAUST LEAK IN THE BACK OF THE DIESEL MOTOR FROM THE EGR COOLER ASSEMBLY. THE ENGINE WAS BLOWING SOOT IN TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND IT COULD BE HEARD AND SMELLED THROUGH THE FIREWALL. THIS IS A DIESEL SO THE EXHAUST CONTAINS CARCINOGENIC CHEMICALS. DIESEL EXHAUST CONTAINS A NUMBER OF POTENTIALLY TOXICOLOGICALLY RELEVANT ORGANIC COMPOUNDS ACCORDING TO THE EPA THAT HAVE HUMAN HEALTH HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH EXPOSURE. THE EGR COOLER IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE 8 YEAR 80K FEDERAL EXHAUST EMISSION WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT IS A MANDATED PART OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AS PART OF THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM. A SHAFT GOING THROUGH THE WALL OF THE EGR COOLER CONNECTING TO A BUTTERFLY VALVE USED TO DIVERT THE EXHAUST GASES IN TO THE COOLER HAS A FAULTY SEAL THAT WILL FAIL AND ALLOW THE EXHAUST GAS TO EXIT THE EXHAUST IN TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND GET IN TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THIS IS NOT ONLY AN EPA VIOLATION BUT A HEALTH HAZARD TO EVERY VW TDI OWNER OR PASSENGER. TO REPAIR THE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE EGR COOLER HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST TO THE OWNER OF $1000. VW CUSTOMER CARE WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT BUT DID REALIZE THE ISSUE AND OFFER REPLACEMENT IN THE FIRST 2 YEARS OR 24K MILES. MOST ISSUES OCCUR AT 70K TO 120K MILES BECAUSE OF A POORLY DESIGNED PART. *TR

DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD AND COOLANT SUDDENLY FLUSHED OUT OF CAR. WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH TIMING BELT. OIL LEAKS IN MULTIPLE PLACES ARE STARTING TO APPEAR. I WONDERED WHY I WAS GOING THROUGH SO MUCH OIL. MECHANIC ALERTED ME TO THE POOR DESIGN AND BUILD AND TOLD ME TO CHECK OF OPEN RECALLS AND SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE BODY VALVE IN THE TRANSMISSION ON MY JETTA. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PART THAT ENDED IN 2012. I AM EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH MY CAR NOW AND IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. MY CAR SHIFTS SO HARD BETWEEN 1ST AND 4TH GEAR AND WILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT LAG TIME BETWEEN ACCELERATION WHICH DURING TRAFFIC, CAN CAUSE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. VW WON'T OFFER ANY REIMBURSEMENT TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY HOWEVER I THINK IT IS RIDICULOUS WHEN THEY KNOW THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE PART IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO NOW I AM STUCK PAYING ANOTHER $1,500 REPAIR BILL FOR THIS CAR IN ADDITION TO ALL OTHER REPAIRS I HAVE PAID FOR. UPON RESEARCH ON BLOGS AND REVIEWS THE 2006 JETTA HAS SEVERAL OF THE SAME ISSUES. CAR HAS 54K MILES AND CV BOOTS ARE CRACKED AND NEEDING REPLACEMENTS. THE HEADLINER DROPPED WHILE DRIVING IMPAIRING VISIBILITY OF ROAD WAYS AND HINDERS VIEW OUT BACK WINDOWS. DRIVERS SIDE WIRING HARNESS. *TR
THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR HAS BROKEN. THE WINDOWS, LOCKS, AND BLINKER ON MIRROR DO NOT WORK AT ALL OR WILL WORK SPORADICALLY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE DASH TURNED ON INDICATING THE AIRBAGS ARE DISABLED. A MECHANIC CONFIRMED IT WAS THE WIRING HARNESS AND IT WAS TEMPORARILY FIXED SO THE WINDOWS COULD BE ROLLED UP TO PREVENT ANY DAMAGE INSIDE FROM SNOW AND RAIN. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM A SETTLEMENT COMPANY IN REGARDS TO THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE LETTER STATES "..THE LEFT FRONT (DRIVER'S SIDE) DOOR OR ANY WIRING OR CONNECTORS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHEN REPLACING SUCH WIRING HARNESS,..." I CALLED THE NUMBER TO ASK ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT OF MY WIRING HARNESS, AND WAS TOLD BECAUSE IT WAS THE PASSENGER DOOR IT DID NOT MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED THE RECALLS ON THE 2006 VW JETTA WIRING HARNESS AND WHAT I WAS ABLE TO FIND, IT DID NOT SPECIFY A PARTICULAR SIDE, BUT STATED THE JETTA'S MADE IN THAT YEAR WHERE MANUFACTURED WITH THE WIRING HARNESSES BEING TO SHORT, CAUSING THE WIRES TO BREAK. THIS IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MINE. ANY INFORMATION REGARDING IF I MEET ANY GUIDELINES TO HAVE THIS FIXED WITH NO COST TO ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THE SAFETY OF MY SON AND I IS VERY IMPORTANT. TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE MOUNTS SNAPPED THAT SECURED THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
WHEN THE DSG TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD IT DOES NOT ENGAGE, THE RPM GAUGE ALMOST REDLINES, THEN WHEN IT ENGAGES TO 3RD IT JERKS AND THE WHEELS PILL OUT, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING TO ME ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE TO GET TO WORK! JIGGLING THE WIRING HARNESS GASKET SEEMS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE EACH TIME IT OCCURS. SUNROOF WILL OPEN TO VENT AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT ANY BUTTONS BEING PUSHED. *TR
AT HIGHWAY SPEED, CAR SUDDENLY WENT INTO NEUTRAL WITH A FLASHING PRNDS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND "PRESS BRAKE PEDAL" INDICATOR. ONCE PULLED OVER ON THE ROAD, CAR WOULD LOCK IN PARK AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. CAR HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY MECHATRONIC UNIT. PREVIOUS RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR 2009-2010 MECHATRONICS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT NOT THIS 2006. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER IS PE09035 AND RECALL NUMBER IS 09V333000 FOR THE 2009-2010 CARS. VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO REALIZE THE SCOPE IS FAR BROADER THAN JUST 2009-2010 CARS. THIS VEHICLE ALSO SUFFERS FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR WIRING HARNESS FAILURE LIKE MANY OTHERS (UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS, OPERATE WINDOWS, ETC). *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED BY IT-SELF AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ENGINE'S ACCELERATION COMMANDS. SINCE THAN IS HAS BEEN MORE OFTEN, AND HAS CAUSED FEAR AND ANXIETY. THERE IS NO WARNING SIGNS ON THE DASHBOARD TO NOTIFY THE DRIVER OF ANY PROBLEMS. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE MODEL 2007 AND NEW-ER. THE 2006 MODEL IS NOT FOR SOME REASON INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN AND IT WAS JUST A WASTE OF TIME.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WIRING HARNESS HAS FAILED AND WITH IT THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROLS DO NOT WORK. THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK, THE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL DOWN, THE GAS CAP RELEASE DOES NOT WORK AND THE TRUNK RELEASE DOES NOT WORK. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I HAVE CHECKED ALL FUSES AND HAVE FOUND NO PROBLEMS. AFTER I HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC CHECK THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED ALL THE WIRES IN THE DRIVER SIDE WIRING HARNESS ARE ALL BROKEN. *JS
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY 2006 VW JETTA, WITH ONLY 57000 MILES, CAME ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG A FEW YEARS AGO AND I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AT THAT TIME TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED TO ADDRESS THAT RECALL. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE LOCAL VW DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT MY PASSENGER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG WAS "DEFECTIVE" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS AIRBAG IS LOCATED IN THE SAME LOCATION WHERE THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE. I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL VW DEALER THAT THE AIR BAG MUST BE DEFECTIVE, BECAUSE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE, THERE IS NO EXCUSE THAT SUCH AIRBAG SHOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO "WEAR AND TEAR." I WAS CHARGED $128.40 BY THE LOCAL VW DEALER FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND WAS QUOTED AN ADDITIONAL $724 PLUS TAX FOR THE AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE. THE LOCAL VW DEALER TOLD ME TO CONTACT VW CORPORATE, AS I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG THAT WAS ALREADY RECALLED IN THE PAST. WHEN I CONTACTED VW CORPORATE, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR, AS THEY DO NOT FEEL THAT THE AIRBAG IS DEFECTIVE (EVEN THOUGH THEIR OWN DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS) AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SAFETY REPAIR OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. I DID MY RESEARCH, AND APPARENTLY THERE ARE MANY 2006 JETTA OWNERS WHO ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME AIRBAG DEFECT ISSUE. VW REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL AND REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE NHTSA MUST FORCE VW TO REPLACE ITS FAULTY AIRBAGS AT NO COST TO INNOCENT CONSUMERS! I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE NOW AND WILL NOT ALLOW MY PREGNANT WIFE IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL VW DEALER THAT THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND ONE OF THE AIRBAGS IS DEFECTIVE. *JS

FIRST NOTICED THAT THE SUNROOF ON MY '06 JETTA TDI WOULD INTERMITTENTLY OPEN AND (SOMETIMES) CLOSE ON IT'S OWN. SINCE THEN MY DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER FUNCTION ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT AND REAR DOORS. I CANNOT USE THE KEY TO LOCK ALL OF THE DOORS AND ACTIVATE THE CAR ALARM. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR NEVER LOCKS EVEN WITH THE KEY AND CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE BY THE PASSENGER. THE ALARM SYSTEM WILL NOT ENGAGE AND THE REAR WINDOWS WILL ONLY OPERATE FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR. INITIALLY THESE ISSUES WOULD COME AND GO BUT HAVE NOW BECOME A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM. THE CAR CANNOT BE SECURED. THESE ISSUES POSE A SAFETY HAZARD TO MY FAMILY AND MY PERSONAL PROPERTY. I WAS PLANNING ON PASSING THE CAR DOWN TO MY SON WHEN HE BECOMES OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE (IN 2 YEARS) HOWEVER WITH THESE ISSUES I DO NOT TRUST THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE COMPLAINTS IN THIS DATABASE I AM SHOCKED THAT VW HAS NOT BEEN MADE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNDER A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A SHORT TRIP(<5 MILES) WHEN MY CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED GOING ON A BUSY STREET. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY ON COMING TRAFFIC. I HEARD A LOUD POP PRIOR TO ITS LOSING POWER. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK WHO TRIED TO JUMP CAR BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC WHO HAD SOLD THE CAR TO ME AND I WAS TOLD THAT ONE OF THE PISTONS HAD RUPTURED THE ENGINE BLOCK. THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION ABOUT WHY THIS HAD HAPPENED. THE CAR HAD BEEN SERVICED( OIL CHANGE, VALVE REPAIR, TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT, WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT) ABOUT 500 MILES BEFORE. *TR
