So it appears to be fine until about 30/45 mins drive time Then it starts shifting/slamming real hard and hesitates to shift in the next gear To the point where stopping and going isn’t an option or it slips After about 45 mins all the prnds lights turned on and did the same in manual mode.. I read someone it’s a valve body that leads to a faulty Tranny I’ve read almost 150 of the same exact accounts on here and Reddit With the same 2006 Vw Jetta 2.5 It’s too common of an issue Most of them were under 100k miles and never dealt with by the manufacturer Myself my car has roughly 168k miles and I’ve been working to fix it up I just got it a month or so ago And now I have to deal with this Honestly is sad that VW hasn’t been held accountable for an issue that is WAY TOO COMMON to not be their fault. I understand the car is almost 20 years old but a bunch of these accounts i were reading dated as far back as 2009 with 86k miles it’s a shame..
The windshield wiper broke the window, brakes need replaced to soon, fuel system car has trouble fueling and after fueling and engine over heating due to engine cooling malfunction. None of these have been repaired yet it shows 0 unprepared recalls.
The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission shuddered without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT ON INDICATING REPAIR IS NEEDED.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED BACK TO A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS IN THE DOOR HINGE. THIS IS A VERY COMMON VW ISSUE, AND MANY OTHER ONLINE COMPLAINTS REFERENCE A WIRE HARNESS THAT IS TOO SHORT. I REPAIRED THE SEVERED WIRES WITH BUTT CONNECTORS. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I INSPECTED THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM (CONNECTORS, WIRING, FUSES, ETC.) TO NO AVAIL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. AGAIN, OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS SAME ISSUE WHEN FIXING A VW'S WINDOW (I.E., FIX THE WINDOW AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES). THE TWO ISSUES SHOULD NOT BE CONNECTED, AND THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME.
I HAVE A 2006 JETTA THAT I JUST GOT FROM A FRIEND, THEY STATED THAT IT NEEDED SOME SENSORS LIKE THE MAF REPLACED. I SPENT THE 39.99 AND BOUGHT THE CARFAX REPORT AS WELL TO ENSURE IT WAS A GOOD CAR. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT UNTIL I DROVE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME LONGER THAN 20 OR 30 MINUTES. I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHEN IT GOT HOT AND THE GEARS NOT SHIFTING. AS I BEGAN TO LOOK UP THESE SYMPTOMS TO VERIFY WHAT THE ISSUE WAS I RAN INTO SOME VERY CONCERNING STATEMENTS. MULTIPLE SOURCES SAY THE CARS ARE KNOWN FOR HAVING BAD TRANSMISSIONS/ VALVE BODY ISSUES. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE DRIVING 2006 VW JETTA 2.5 LITER AUTOMATIC CARS WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE HARD SHIFTING AND SLIPPING AND SOME WERE WORSE THAN THAT. MY CAR ONLY HAS 103,000 MILES ON IT AND MANY OF THESE OTHER VEHICLES WERE BETWEEN 75K AND 140K. HAVING TO HAVE ENTIRE TRANSMISSIONS REPLACED. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOT NEEDING TO SWITCH GEARS BUT STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN. IT DISCOURAGES ME THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND A RECALL HAS NEVER BEEN ISSUED FOR IT. THERE IS NO WARRANTY ANYMORE . MULTIPLE MECHANICS HAVE LOOKED AT THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY STATED THAT THE 09G VALVE COVER THAT VW USED WAS NOTORIOUS FOR THESE ISSUES AND THEY ARE STILL PRETTY COMMON. THERE HAS BEEN TAMPERING DONE TO MY VEHICLE HOW DO I ASSURE SAFETY AND HAVE IT INVESTIGATED AND HAVE A REPAIR MAN LOOK OVER THE VEHICLE AFTER THE THEFT?
THERE IS VACUUM PUMP DEFECT, MECHANICAL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKETS, BREAKS, HOSES/PUMPS, WINDSHIELD FLUID MOUNTED HOUSES NEAR WINDSHIELD (FLUID SPRAYS THROUGH THESE HOUSES ON TO THE WINDSHIELD) AND KEY IGNITION INTERLOCK. PLEASE CALL AUDI FOR THE FULL DESCRIPTION OF DEFECTIVE PARTS AND REQUIRED MAINTENANCE. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE HEARD A LOUD POP OR BREAKING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT OPERATE STIFFENING THE STEERING WHEEL. AUTO WAS STOLEN AND CAME BACK WITH LOUD SCREECHING NOISE. UNKNOWN.
The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that brake fluid had leaked from her vehicle as the check engine light illuminated the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where she was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. Soon after repair, the failure returned. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20E064000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which she linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
AIRBAG/SEATBELT LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY WHILE CAR WAS OCCUPIED AND IN PARK. NO ACCIDENTS.

CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF - KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. HAVE TO PUSH THE STEERING WHEEL IN FORCEFULLY TO BE ABLE TO TURN KEY AND ENGINE OFF.
TRANSMISSION GOES INTO LIMP MODE ONCE VEHICLE REACHES NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. CODES ARE P1689 AND P0746. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR WILL ONLY FUNCTION IN 2ND GEAR AND NOTHING ELSE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ON INTERSTATES WHERE THE MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT CAN NOT BE REACHED. RESEARCHING ONLINE, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THE MECHATRONIC NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE AIRBAG DRIVER IS NO WOKS..THE AIR BAG IS ON CHECK ALL TIME.
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION AND I CANNOT TURN OFF THE ENGINE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO WALLACE VOLKSWAGEN OF JOHNSON CITY (3101 E OAKLAND AVE, JOHNSON CITY, TN 37601, (423) 952-0888) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TAKATA RECALL IGNITION SWITCH WAS LOCKED. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHEN TURNING KEY IT WOULDN'T TURN. CAR WAS IN PARK AND FOOT ON BRAKES AND TURN OF THE STIRRING WHEEL DIDN'T GET IT TO TURN. HAD TO GET TOWED AND THE FULL IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED.
CAR CAN SPUTTER ON FREEWAY AT TIMES AND CAN STALL OUT WHEN DECELERATING FROM FREEWAY CRUISING SPEED. FUEL LINES ARE EMPTY DESPITE HAVING REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND FILTER, AS WELL AS WIRING HARNESS.
APRIL 12, 2019 AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SERVICE CENTER OF THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP CAR WAS PURCHASED AT. AFTER DIAGNOSIS THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT TESTED FAULTY WHICH COULD BE RENDERING THE AIRBAG INOPERABLE. THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE ORDERED IN ORDER TO REPAIR IT AT A SECOND APPOINTMENT. CONCERNING THAT THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T CARRY PARTS THAT COULD AFFECT THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THE JETTA IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS JETTA HAS NEVER HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY OR ANY ISSUES WITH THE SEAT BELTS UNTIL NOW.
THE TRUNK DID NOT LATCH WHEN FIRST CLOSED. I THEN WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUNK TO LATCH AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE IT. HOWEVER, THE TRUNK CAME OPEN LATER ON IN MY TRIP. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE HAD TROUBLE CLOSING THE TRUNK, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAS POPPED OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 3 YEARS, MY REAR WINDSHIELD HAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. WHEN I GOT IN, I HEARD A LOUD POP. I LOOKED BACK AND SAW THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I HAD NOT YET STARTED THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED 3 YEARS AGO, I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND IT SHATTERED. THE KIDS WERE IN THE CAR THE FIRST TIME AND GOT GLASS ON THEM.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, MY DRIVERS SEAT BEGAN MOVING ON IT'S OWN. THE TOP PART OF THE SEAT PUSHED ME UP AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE BOTTOM HALF PULLED ME BACK SO I COULDN'T REACH THE PEDALS. I HAD MY 2 YR OLD GRANDCHILD IN THE BACKSEAT AND BARELY MADE IT OFF OF THE FREEWAY. THE SEAT CONTINUES TO MOVE EVEN WHILE THE CAR IS OFF. THE TOW TRUCK REFUSED TO HELP BECAUSE OF LEGAL REASONS AND THE VW DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME $140 JUST TO LOOK AT IT BECAUSE IT'S NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. VW SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DEFECTIVE PARTS REGARDLESS OF THE YEAR OF THE CAR AND SHOULD NOT BE CHARGING ANYONE TO FIX THIS.
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT HEATER OVER HEATED AND MELTED THE SEAT AND CLOTHING OF THE DRIVER. NO BURNS WERE NOTICED ON THE DRIVERS BODY, BUT COULD FEEL THE INTENSE HEAT FROM THE HEATER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES WITHIN A YEAR. THE NEW BATTERY WAS REPLACED WITHIN A MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE RADIO CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED YORK VOLKSWAGEN (3475 E MARKET ST, YORK, PA 17402, (717) 755-1015) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT THEY COULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE KEY FAILED TO INSERT INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR THE IGNITION FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SO INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE I AM UNABLE TO OPEN MY TRUNK BY FLIPPING THE TRUNK SWITCH. MY LEFT PASSENGER DOOR IS UNABLE TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE WINDOWS WON'T TOLL DOWN, THE DOOR IS UNABLE TO LOCK AND IT'S STRESSFUL BECAUSE MY CAR GOT BROKEN INTO BECAUSE OF IT. MY RIGHT MIRROR TURN SIGNAL DOESN'T FUNCTION ANY MORE WHEN I SIGNAL RIGHT IT SIGNALS REALLY FAST AND IT'S ONLY SIGNALS USING MY HEADLIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT SIGNALS. SOMETIMES THERE IS A KICK TO MY CAR WHEN I'M DRIVING AND IN A COUPLE OF OCCASION WHEN I START MY VEHICLE MY CAR REVS UP ON IT'S OWN. JUST A BUNCH OF ISSUES IT'S STRESSFUL..
WITH MY CAR IN MOTION EVERY TIME I TURN MY CAR ON, I HAVE MULTIPLE WARNINGS THAT COME ON DUE TO A FAULT IN SENSORS CAUSING MY CAR TO HAVE THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR AIR EMISSION ON MY CAR OR AIR BAG RECALLS ON MY CAR AND THERE ANSWER WAS NO. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN OFF TO WHERE YOU CANNOT PROPERLY CLOSE THE DOOR (I HAVE KRAZY GLUED IT BACK ON ONCE ALREADY) AND IT JUST IS BECOMING A BIG ISSUE. EVERY TIME I FIX ONE ISSUE, ANOTHER ONE RISES UP CAUSING ME MORE HEADACHES AND STRESS DUE TO NO ONE HAVING ANSWERS FOR ME.
DRIVERS SEAT ADJUSTMENT AUTOMATICALLY MOVES SEAT WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU ARE TALL, THE SEAT MOVES YOU INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND I'M AFRAID THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS YOU CANNOT TURN STEERING WHEEL AND YOUR KNEES ARE PINNED UNDER THE DASH.
TRANSMISSION NOR SHIFTING PROPERLY(AUTOMATIC). CREATES SAFETY ISSUES PARTICULARLY ON HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE DRIVER SEAT STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD ON ITS OWN TOWARDS THE STEERING WHEEL IN WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE DRIVER SEAT IT WOULD NOT REVERSENEARLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HORN NO LONGER WORKS DUE TO SOME SORT OFELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE ISSUE TOOK PLACE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY.
ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I NOTICED MY DRIVER'S SEAT WAS TOO FAR FORWARD, SO I USED THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT CONTROLS TO MOVE IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS COMFORTABLE. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND PERIODICALLY THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, WHETHER I WAS DRIVING (HIGHWAY OR LOCAL), STATIONARY, OR STOPPED (WITH THE ENGINE TURNED OFF!), THE SEAT BACK WOULD MOVE BACK AND FORTH, SOMETIMES LUNGING FORWARD 4-6 INCHES AND THEN BACK ABOUT 10 INCHES. THIS CAUSED ME, WHILE DRIVING, TO BE PRESSED ALMOST ON THE STEERING WHEEL OR AT FULL ARMS-LENGTH, BACK AND FORTH NUMEROUS TIMES. SOMETIMES PUSHING ONE/ANY OF THE SETTING BUTTONS WOULD STOP THE ROCKING FOR A SHORT TIME; SOMETIMES IT HAD NO EFFECT. THIS ISSUE IS OF SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN TO ME AS IT MAKES STEERING AND BRAKING/ACCELERATING VERY DIFFICULT AND NOT CONTROLLABLE. THERE MUST BE A RECALL ON THIS MODEL AS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THIS SITE SINCE THE MODEL FIRST CAME OUT IN 2006! IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE THAT NO RECALL HAS YET BEEN ISSUED.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS LITE. REPAIR GARAGE INDICATES PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT TENSIONER IGNITOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (HEWLETT VOLKSWAGEN, 7951 HEWLETT LOOP ROAD, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS 78627) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CLOCKSPRING WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,894. *TT
ELECTRICAL HARNESS IN DRIVER'S DOOR MANUFACTURED 2 INCHES TOO SHORT WIRES BROKEN NO WAY TO ADJUST DRIVER'S MIRROR PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR OPEN TRUNK OPEN GAS CAP OPEN DRIVERS WINDOW OR ANY OTHER WINDOWS NOR TO LOCK OR UNLOCK DOORS. WHEN SWITCHING DRIVERS THE OTHER DRIVER CANNOT ADJUST THE MIRRORS IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER INABILITIES OF THESE SWITCHES NOT WORKING IN THAT DOOR. VOLKSWAGEN KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THOUSANDS OF CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM! JUST GO ONLINE AND SEE ALL THE COMPLAINTS.
VW JETTA TDI 2.5L 2006 - PLASTIC ENGINE COVER TAPPED A HOLE INTO FUEL RAIL. DIESEL FUEL LEAKED ALL OVER ENGINE AND ENGINE STARTED SMOKING. FIRE WAS IMMANENT HAD I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. LOST FUEL ON ROAD AND GROUND. VW CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE SAYS MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW A RECALL FOR THIS BUT THE LEAK ISSUE IS POSTED ALL OVER INTERNET AND TDI FORUM SITES AND YOUTUBE. VW SHOULD RECALL THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. HOLE LOOKS LIKE A LESION OR A SORE THAT HIS BEEN RUBBED BY THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE WEAK METAL TUBE FUEL RAIL. NOW, NEW JETTAS ARE MADE WITH RUBBER FUEL TUBES. THEY HAVE DEFINITELY KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR MANY YEARS (SINCE 2007 AT LEAST).

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SIGNAL FROM THE ECU AND TRANSMISSION MODULE INDICATED THAT THERE WERE TWO PINS THAT WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. COLONIAL VOLKSWAGEN (89 TURNPIKE RD, WEST BOROUGH, MA) WAS CONTACTED REGARDING THE FAILURE, BUT THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR SEEMINGLY POPS OUT OF GEAR (GOES FROM 50 MPH TO 10 MPH OR LESS WITH NO WARNING). IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE, EVEN WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. VERY UNSAFE! WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE (ONE WHICH VW RECALLED 2007-2010 MODELS FOR).

THE VEHICLE HAS A LONG HISTORY OF THE THROTTLE BECOMING INOPERATIVE RESULTING IN NO-POWER (IDLE POWER STRICTLY SPEAKING) CONDITIONS. THAT CONDITION IS CLEARED WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED AND RELEASED. RECENTLY THERE WAS AN INSTANCE OF UNCOMMANDED ACCELERATION: INSTEAD OF NO POWER, FULL POWER WAS APPLIED BY THE ENGINE. AGAIN CYCLING THE CLUTCH CLEARED THE CONDITION. THE NO-POWER CASES APPEARED MORE LIKELY IN URBAN DRIVING AND SOON AFTER A TRANSMISSION SHIFT BUT DID OCCUR UNDER ALMOST ANY CONDITIONS. THE FULL-POWER CASE OCCURRED ONCE, CLIMBING A HILL AT ~2800' ALTITUDE. THE POWER FAIL OCCURRED AS EARLY AS 34K MILES, AND CONTINUED WITH VW'S KNOWLEDGE UNTIL ~72K MILES, WHEN VW OF AMERICA TECHNICIANS FINALLY DID SOMETHING TO END IT. IN MOTION, SUDDEN STOP REAR-ENDED, TRUCK IN FRONT WHILE GETTING ONTO URBAN COMMUTER INTERSTATE FROM RAMP, DUE TO MULPLE COLLISIONS AHEAD ON HEAVY TRAFFIC INTERSTATE LANES NOT VISIBLE FROM LOWER ON RAMP. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO UPPER BODY, HEAD FACE, BACK, LIMBS, CONTINUED MEDICAL ISSUES. MY CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS WENT BAD AND WERE REPLACED IN 2015. IT WAS JUST AROUND 100,000 MILES. THEN I FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THEY WERE BAD AGAIN. MY UNDERSTANDING FROM THE MECHANIC IS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND LOOKING AT THE VOLKSWAGEN TDI FORUM, THAT YEAR IS PARTICULARLY BAD. THIS CAMSHAFT FAILURE CAUSED A LOSS OF POWER ON THE INTERSTATE DURING A HEAVY TRAFFIC TIME, BOTH TIMES. FIRST INCIDENT WAS ON I-240 IN ASHEVILLE MIDDAY. SECOND TIME WAS TRAVELLING WEST ON I-40 NEAR MORGANTON, NC IN EVENING TRAFFIC. LOSS OF POWER, SMOKING. I COULD BARELY GET OFF THE EXIT. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE IMPEDED TRAFFIC, BOTH TIMES.
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON , I PAID $1,110.00 , TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. IN LESS THAN A WEEK THE DRIVER SIDE DID THE SAME THING. I NEED HELP, PLEASE.
