I PURCHASE MY VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2007 FOR A DEALER IN PALM SPRINGS AREA, I ALWAYS HAD TROUBLES WITH MY VEHICLE. I SHOWED MY FATHER THE AGREEMENT ON THE FORM AND I WAS UPSET TO SEE THEY TOOK ADVANCED OF MY DAUGHTER, THE CAR WAS POSTED AS IS. A MONTH AFTER SHE BOUGHT THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION WAS CAUSING TROUBLE, THE CAR WOULD HESITATER THEN MAKE A CHIRP NOISE AND THEN HIT A FASTER JUMP INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES THE CAR WOULD MAKE SKID MARKS. NOW MY DAUGHTER WAS TRYING TO BACK OUT OF OUR GARAGE TODAY JULY 27, 2018 AND THE VEHICLE DOESN'T SHIFT TO ANY GEARS. BOTH BACK PASSENGER DOORS NO LONGER LOCK. EVEN WITH CHILD LOCK ON THEY OPEN FREELY. HAVING CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM AS THEY CAN OPEN THE DOORS AT ANY TIME. THERE IS NO WARNING THE LOCKS HAVE FAILED. I'VE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 02/18/15*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE REQUIRED A NEW RELAY. THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THIS WAS ACOMMON PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 165K MILES. RIGHT AT ABOUT 120K MILES, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING HARSHLY. AT TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD GET STUCK AT 3RD GEAR, AND THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR PANEL LIGHTS UP PRND ALL AT ONCE. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING HILLS, OR STOP AND GO DRIVING. MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALSO ON CONSTANTLY. I'VE HAD THE ISSUE FIXED PREVIOUSLY, HOWEVER, THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED. LASTLY, MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LIKE ALL THE TIME. I'VE TRIED TO REMOTELY AND MANUALLY LOCK THE DOOR; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY.
RIGHT SIDE DRIVE SHAFT AND LEFT SIDE DRIVE SHAFT FAULTY. VACUUM PUMP LEAKING OIL BAD, AND NEW GASKET NEEDED. LEFT SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH ALSO DOES NOT LOCK POSING A THREAT TO SAFETY AND LEAVING POSSIBILITY FOR ROBBER, VEHICLE DAMAGE AND OR BODILY HARM DUE TO INTRUDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG POSSIBLY WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
IGNITION SWITCH BUSHING. THERE IS A NYLON OR PLASTIC BUSHING IN THE KEY IGNITION SWITCH TO START THE CAR THAT CAN BECOME DISLODGED AND PREVENT THE KEY FROM GOING INTO THE PATHWAY. CAR CANNOT BE STARTED FOR THIS REASON. MUST BE TOWED. VW HAS TOLD US THAT THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY TO THE VW JETTAS. NOTE: THERE MAY BE OTHER MODELS AFFECTED IF THEY USE THE SAME TYPE OF IGNITION SWITCH. REPAIRS WILL COST ~$600 FOR INSTALLATION OF A NEW IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
THE FRONT AND SIDE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS INOPERABLE DUE TO A WIRING PROBLEM UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. *JS
ON JULY OF 2013, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO OPEN ROAD VW AFTER REACHING OUT TO NHTSA AND VW OF AMERCIA FOR ASSISTANCE WITH GETTING THE CAR REPAIRED DUE TO THE WARRANTY BEING EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAGS THAT WOULD HAVE IMPAIRED THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. VW REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE. ON SEPT OF 2014 IN THE EARLY MORNING THE AIR FAULT INDICATOR CAME ON AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED OPEN ROAD VW AND EXPLAINED THE RECURRING ISSUE. I SPOKE TO [XXX] WHO STATED TO ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING VW COULD DO SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE EVEN IF IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT BROUGHT UPON WEAR AND TEAR. SHE THEN ASKED ME TO CALL VW CUSTOMER CARE CENTER 1-800-822-8987 AND SPOKE TO A [XXX] WHO STATED TO ME IN A SARCASTIC MANNER THAT IF IT CONCERNED ME THAT MUCH I SHOULD GET IT REPAIRED BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT GOING TO STAND BY IT THIS TIME. I THEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR AND HE REFUSED. I THEN ASKED FOR HIS COMPLETE NAME AND HE REFUSED TO PROVIDE HIS LAST NAME. HE THEN PUT ME ON HOLD FOR TEN MINUTES AND ATTEMPTED TO FIND A SUPERVISOR TO NO SUCCESS. I ALSO ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR NAME AND NUMBER AND HE REFUSED TO PROVIDE THAT OR TRANSFER TO ANYONE THAT COULD. CAR SHUTS OFF AND BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON IMMEDIATELY PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHERS SO I WILL NOT GET HIT FROM BEHIND BOTH TIMES I HAVE BEEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR DO TO THE FACT IT COULD STOP AT ANYTIME FIRST I TOOK MY CAR TO MY CERTIFIED VW SPECIALIST HE RAN DIAGNOSTICS KEPT MY CAR FOR THREE DAYS DROVE IT BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE TOOK MY CAR BACK THEN AGAIN THE NEXT WEEK SAME THING HAPPENED I HEARD A CLICK CAR SHUT DOWN AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME I DID NOT FEEL SAFE TO EVEN GET IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SO I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. FEELING FRUSTRATED 2ND WEEK RENTING A CAR WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE THING WORSE I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW OFF THE SHOW ROOM FLOOR FROM [XXX] THAT DEALERSHIP HAS SINCE CLOSED DOWN I HAVE NOTICED CRACKING IF THE PAINT ON THE HOOD VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT I WAS TOLD FROM A BODY SHOP THAT REPAIR WORK WAS DONE TO THE CAR PROBABLY BECAUSE IT WAS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING AND IF THE COST OF REPAIR IS NOT AT LEAST 6 PERCENT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE VW DOES NOT HAVE TO DISCLOSE TO CUSTOMER. MY CAR'S DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT IT, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE WIRING IN THE HARNESS/HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS EXPOSED (THE COLORED COATING PROTECTING THE WIRING WAS GONE). I ORDERED A LEFT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. IN THE MEANTIME, THE OLD HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS BROUGHT TO THE VW DEALER, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY "SEE A LOT OF THESE COME IN", BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL OR OWNERSHIP OF POOR QUALITY FROM VW. WHEN THE PART CAME IN AND WAS BEING INSTALLED, I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. I WASN'T ALLOWED TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I WAS TOLD IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THE EXPOSED WIRES TOUCHED EACH OTHER, THE CAR COULD JUST STOP OR, PERHAPS THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL, WHICH WOULD BE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IF I WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT. EITHER WAY, I WAS TOLD AN ACCIDENT OF SOME SORT WOULD OCCUR, WHICH IS WHY I WOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO USE THE CAR WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN. IF VW HAS SEEN "A LOT OF THESE" INCIDENTS COMING INTO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ONE WOULD QUESTION WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ALLOWING DRIVERS TO BE OUT ON THE ROADS WHEN THE CAR HAS INFERIOR AND DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL PARTS. DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS...DANGEROUS FOR THE OTHERS WHO MIGHT BE INVOLVED SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR. I DO HOPE THAT A FOLLOW-UP WITH VW COMES OUT OF THIS COMPLAINT AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. A RECALL SHOULD BE IN ORDER AND I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SEAT HEATER CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED THE CONSUMER AND HER CLOTHING. *SMD AFTER THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS, IT WAS RETURNED TO HER IN THE SAME MANNER AND SHE WAS OFFERED $1200 AND THEY WOULD DISCONNECT THE HEATER. *JB
MY 2007 VW JETTA WITH 37K ON IT STARTED TO INDICATE ON THE DASH CLUSTER PANEL THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHEN ITS OPEN. THE VEHICLE ALSO AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOOR ON ITS OWN ONCE I HAVE EXITED THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN LOCK MY CHILDREN INSIDE THE CAR, CAN AFFECT OTHER AREA OF THE CAR AND CAN CATCH FIRE WHILE ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DISCOVERED ON VARIOUS JETTA, GTI, ETC AND VW HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. ON 7/3/2014 @ 10AM, VW OF AMERICA WAS CONTACTED AND WERE NOT HELPFUL AND DID NOT WANT TO ASSIST OR STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT DIE TO THE WARRANTY BEING EXPIRED. OPEN ROAD VW OF MANHATTAN WAS CONTACT FOR INFORMATION AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS FREQUENTLY ON THE ABOVE MENTIONED MODELS AND THAT THEY ESTIMATE THE JOBS TO BE FROM $700 AND UP. THIS LOOKS, SOUNDS AND IS A FACTORY DEFECT. PLEASE ASSIST TOWARDS THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKE CABLE FAILED CAUSING THE REAR BRAKE TO SEIZE AND EMIT SMOKE. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE CABLE, THE REAR PADS, AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
MY VW JETTAS SENSOR FOR THE AIRBAG CONSTANTLY COMES ON WHEN I START THE CAR TELLING ME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG AND IT WILL NOT DEPLOY. PROBLEM FIRST STARTED BACK IN 2008(BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW) AND WHEN I CONTACTED VW FOR REPAIR THEY TOLD ME THAT NONE OTHERS HAD THIS ISSUE AND THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. WHEN I STARTED DOING RESEARCH I'VE FOUND THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE SAYING THE SAME THING ABOUT THEIR VW AIRBAG SENSOR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THAT THE AIRBAG WON'T DEPLOY IN A CRASH. *TR
MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR DOESN'T LOCK, THE DOOR LATCH IS OUT. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT STATES THAT EVENTUALLY MY DRIVERS DOOR LATCH IS GOING TO GO OUT AS WELL. TWO CAR DOORS DO NOT LOCK LEAVING MY CAR AVAILABLE FOR POSSIBLE BREAK INS. CURRENTLY CAN'T LEAVE VALUABLE THINGS IN MY CAR SINCE IT WONT LOCK. CAR DOORS HAVE BEEN ACTING UP, LEAVING CERTAIN DOORS TO OPEN AND OTHERS NOT. MY PASSENGER FRONT DOOR WONT OPEN, AND CURRENTLY ONLY THE DRIVERS DOOR OPENS, THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE CHANGES OFTEN AND CERTAIN DOORS WILL LOCK AND THE NEXT DAY IT CHANGES AGAIN. CALLED MANUFACTURE INFORMED ME NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. CALLED MY DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. CAR CURRENTLY ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY, BOUGHT IT WITHOUT A WARRANTY. STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND NOT HAVING A CAR THAT WILL LOCK AND LET ME IN, IS AN ISSUE. *TR
AFTER ENGINE WARMS UP THE CAR JERKS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS UP AND DOWN. IT GETS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AT TIMES. I TOOK THE CAR TO SERRA VOLKSWAGEN AT 1490 CENTER POINT PKWY, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35215. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT HE FOUND METAL SHAVEN IN THE TRANSMISSION AND DRAINED IT. AFTER A FEW DAYS THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN 2018. I JUST PARKED THE CAR UNTIL I CAN FIGURE WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON WITH MY CAR. TODAY JULY 7, 2019 I DROVE THE CAR TO MY NEW RESIDENT AND IT GOT STUCK IN 3RD GEAR. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM CONCERNING MY TRANSMISSION.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING. PULLED OVER AND SHUT CAR OFF THEN RESTARTED AND LIGHT STAYED ON. LOOKED LIGHT UP IN MANUAL AND IT STATES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND THEY MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS CONCERNS ME AS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. SECONDLY MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK FAILS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK INTERMITTENTLY. AS A RESULT I HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR UNLOCKED AT TIMES SINCE THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY. ALSO IS A SAFETY CONCERN IF THE DOOR WON'T UNLOCK IN A CRASH SITUATION. *TR
I NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON FEW WEEKS AGO THEN THE SHAFTS' LIGHTS STARTED TURNING ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME (P-R-N-D). THE CAR WAS MOVING AND A KNOCKING SOUND STARTED WHEN THE WEATHER GETS HOT. I TOOK IT TO COUPLE OF CAR SHOP SERVICES AND NON WAS ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM BUT RATHER, THEY OFFERED TO CHANGE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION FOR +4,500 DOLLARS SO THAT THEY WOULD WORK IT SIMPLY WITH A GOOD PROFIT! WHILE DRIVING EARLIER TODAY, THERE WAS A VERY WEIRD SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND I PLANED TO TAKE IT TO VW SERVICES SO THAT THEY'D TAKE A LOOK AT IT. UNFORTUNATELY, FEW MINUTES LATER THE CAR STOPPED MOVING AND I HAD TO PULL UP. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT VW IS CALLING VW JETTA 2006-2009, ENGINE 2.01 FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. THOUGH, MY CAR IS 2.5 ENGINE BUT HAPPENED TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. I'M TOWING THE CAR TOMORROW MORNING AND I'LL TAKE IT TO VW SERVICES AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL CONSIDER THIS INCIDENT FOR THE 2.5L CARS ALSO. *TR
THE DOOR LOCK DOESN'T WORK. IT DOES NOT LOCK ALL THE DOORS WHICH CAN LEAD TO A FATALITY IF MY LITTLE CHILDREN OPEN THE DOOR BY ACCIDENT. FOR WHAT I SEEN THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT IN ALL THESE VEHICLES. *TR
WHILE SHOPPING ON BLACK FRIDAY AND INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN THE LEFT REAR DOOR WON'T LOCK. HAVING A SMALL CHILD THAT IS IN THE BACK SEAT, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR OUR FAMILY. IT ONLY TAKES ONE PULL OF THE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. *TR
WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK UP UNTIL VEHICLE STRUCK AN OBJECT THAT WAS OBSCURED DUE TO THE HEADLINER OF THE VEHICLE THAT HAS FALLEN OFF THE CEILING. HEADLINER IS ALMOST COMPLETELY OBSTRUCTING ALL REAR VIEW THROUGH THE REAR GLASS OF THE CAR. *TR

STARTED EXPERIENCING HARD SHIFTING IN THE LOWER GEARS (1-3) AS DESCRIBED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY. UNFORTUNATELY I AM ALREADY PAST THIS WARRANTY DATE AND HAD NO IDEA OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL IT HAPPENED, AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. THE VW DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA SAID IT IS ABOUT A $2300.00 FIX. *TR
I WAS COMING OFF A RAMP AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO MORE THAN 20MPH. ALL THE GEARS ON THE GEAR SELECTOR DISPLAY FOUND IN THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER STAYS LIT UP AND AFFECTS THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS ARTICLES THAT STATES THERE IS A RECALL RELATED TO MALFUNCTIONING MECHATRONIC UNITS. THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THE ORIGINAL DSG RECALLS. VW CUSTOMER CARE OR THE DEALERSHIP I TAKE IT TO WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EVEN WITH THE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET ABOUT IT. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPAIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. BOTH RADIATOR COOLING FANS HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER A CHECK FOR ENGINE FAULTS WERE PERFORMED WITH A TOTAL COST TO ME OF $786.43. THE V.W. JETTA IS A 2.5 LITER ENGINE. THIS WAS THE SECOND 2.5 LITER JETTA THE LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR COMPANY HAS DONE TODAY WITH DATE OF JUNE 13, 2013. ALL THE MAJOR DEALERSHIPS IN DENVER WERE CALLED TO COMPARE AVAILABILITY AND PRICE OF PARTS. ALL DEALERSHIPS HAD BOTH RADIATOR COOLING FANS THAT NEEDED REPLACED IN STOCK. THE AVAILABILITY OF THESE PARTS AT ALL DEALERSHIPS LEADS TO THIS SUMMARY: THE MAJOR VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIPS WERE ANTICIPATING HAVING TO REPLACE THESE PARTS IN MANY OF THE 2.5 LITER JETTA VOLKSWAGENS. I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY WHEN LARGE PIECES OF TIRE STARTING FLYING IN THE ROAD FROM A SEMI-TRUCK. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED FOUR TIMES TO THE DEALER. TWICE, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS SHOWING; THE CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY. THIS PROBLEM NORMALLY OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE PART, A REBUILD KIT AND TORQUE CONVERTER WERE REPLACED AS PART OF THIS PROCESS. SUBMITTED THE INVOICES TO VW. RECEIVED LETTER THAT PAYMENT FOR REPAIRS WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE INVOICES THAT I SUBMITTED STATED THAT "THE REPAIR PERFORMED WERE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER". NOT TRUE. RPMS WOULD INCREASE THEN DECREASE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. ENGINE WOULD ENGAGE THEN DISENGAGE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIOLENTLY BUCK, SHAKE, AND JERK. THE PRNDS NOMENCLATURE WOULD FLASH RAPIDLY, INDICATING A FAULT WITHIN THE SYSTEM. THE FINAL INDICATION OF THE SEVERITY OF THE DSG TRANSMISSION'S COMPLETE FAILURE WAS THE CARS INABILITY TO MOVE UNDER THROTTLE. THE CARS VELOCITY WAS COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLABLE. I AM VERY METICULOUS ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE OF MY VEHICLES. VW REQUIRES A FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE AT 40,000 FOR THE DSG. I HAD MINE DONE AT 39,000 THIS HAPPENED ON I70 ON THE BORDER OF PA/MD. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT LOSS OF LIFE OR PROPERTY. HOWEVER, HAD THIS DSG/TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED ON 495 IN VA/MD, ( WHICH WAS MY LOCATION JUST 2 HOURS PRIOR) THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. VW IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH ITS DSG TRANSMISSION, BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. NOTE THE VIN SPECIFIC RECALL IN THE US FOR DSG/MECHATRONIC/ TEMP SENSOR. HOWEVER, THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD. MY VIN IS NOT SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL, YET MY VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND FAILURE AS THAT SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. I DID NOT SEE SMOKE OR FIRE BUT WHEN I PULLED OVER I FOUND THAT THE HEATING ELEMENT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT HAD STARTED BURNING THE SEAT. IT ACTUALLY MELTED A HOLE IN THE SEAT IN ONE SPOT. THE BURN MARKS ARE VISIBLE RUNNING VERTICALLY 13 INCHES ON THE BACKREST OF THE PASSENGER SEAT. *TR
THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2007 JETTA FAILED TO LOCK OR UNLOCK USING THE ELECTRIC LOCK BUTTONS IN THE DOORS OR BY USING THE REMOTE. ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR RESPONDS TO ANY LOCK ACTION. THE DRIVER'S DOOR ONLY LOCKS AND UNLOCKS WITH THE KEY IN THE LOCK. THIS WAS NOT DUE TO DEAD BATTERIES IN THE REMOTE CONTROL. THIS IS A COMMONLY REPORTED PROBLEM (AS OBSERVED BY ONLINE REPORTS BY OTHER OWNERS) AND COULD LEAD TO SAFETY CONCERNS IF A PERSON IS UNABLE TO UNLOCK A DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, OR PERSONAL PROPERTY CONCERNS IF A PERSON CANNOT LOCK THEIR DOOR. *TR
