When you turn on the vehicle, the abs and traction light illuminates. The light that says "BRAKE" also illuminates and the vehicle beeps 3 times. When driving the vehicle, the red light "BRAKE" flashes constantly, while the ABS and traction control light remains illuminated but no flashes. The dealership says it's a fault ABS module and Hydraulic Pump Assembly. I researched and found a Volkswagen safety recall code: 45F2 (published March 17, 2017) that seems very applicable to my vehicle. Safety concerns include but are not limited to the following: loss of vehicle control, failure to brake properly, auto engagement of brakes not by the driver, etc. All safety concerns may cause my life or the life of another individual.

ABS module in 2010 VW Jetta wagon malfunctioned. Warning lights in dash were lit for ABS, Brake, and airbag on 5/18/24. Towed to local auto shop by AAA on 5/20/24. Verified by local auto shop as faulty ABS module on 5/21/24. Prior year VW Jetta wagon (2009) already has recall for this issue. Car is not safe to drive due to brake issue and will not pass state inspection. This VIN / make / model of VW should be added to existing VW ABS recall. I have not towed vehicle back to house and do not have the auto shop report yet.

1) IGNITION SWITCH - yes 2) car wont turn off, key is stuck and wont allow to be turned off. this is dangerous for car to be left on. 3) yes - common problem with VW 4) yes by mechanic 5) no warnings, typically ignition needs jiggling to start and turn off ignition but this is the first time it has refused to budge.

2010 Jetta, manual transmission Key gets stuck in ignition and wont cut car off. Eventually got key out, ignition locked wont let key turn car on. This is a known vw issue with over 860 complaints on this exact issue between 2009-2013. VW refuses to do recall, even though this is a manufacturing parts issue.
FAULT ON ANTI LOCKING BRAKE (ABS), INDICATED BY ILLUMINATION ON DASH, ESC LIGHT ON AND FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT ON. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THAT ISSUE AS LISTED IN SAFETY RECALL 16V-913 APPLIES TO OTHER VEHICLES NOT LISTED ON VIN RANGE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS OTHERS HAVE INDICATED THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS ON THEIR MODELS NOT COVERED BY VIN RECALL. CUSTOMER SERVICE (VW) WAS CALLED, PER DEALER DIRECTION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE AT VW DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO READ THE VIN CODES OR CAN TELL ME WHICH VIN CODE MAKES THE FAULTY ABS MODULE APPLICABLE OR NOT APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE.
"Key gets stuck in ignition and I cannot turn off the engine."
On certain vehicles, a fault within the antilock brake system (ABS) may cause the module to fail during ABS and/or electronic stability control (ESC) activation. This will cause warning lights for ABS, brake and the ESC systems to illuminate. If this happens, the brake system related vehicle stabilizing functions (ABS/ESC) may not be available, increasing the risk of a loss of vehicle control and could lead to a crash causing injury and/or property damage
In June of 2021 my car had a warning light for the DPF filter come on and told me to follow the instructions in the manual to drive it on the freeway at certain RPMs to get it to clear well that didn’t work and eventually the check engine light came on as well, I took it to the dealership and found out that the Diesel Particulate Filter was bad and needed to be replaced, the DPF was under an extended warranty because of the whole Dieselgate issue, my car had approx 95k miles or so on it when the filter was replaced along with my timing belt. Well six months later the DPF filter light came on again so I brought it back to the dealership that replaced it and they said it wasn’t their fault and that now the glow plugs and thermostat needed to be replaced to get the filter to work so I spent a bunch of money fixing that and now just recently the DPF light and check engine light came on again so I brought it back to the mechanic and they said I needed a new O2 sensor and that would fix this problem, well the replaced the sensor and I drove away and now my Turbo blew which was incredibly scary cause my car lost all power and made a crazy siren noise as I tried to get to a safe area. and my car isn’t driveable at all, my car only has 101,000 miles in it and it going to cost me over $3000 to fix the turbo when I just spent $600 to replace the sensor, $600 on glow plugs and themostat, and $1000 on the timing Belt. This is a lot of extra money to spend on a car in just one year. I don’t think that the DPF filter should be giving me problems every 6 months. I’m a single mom and I don’t know what to do, I can’t afford a new car but I also can’t afford to keep fixing this one. My car is currently at the VW dealership waiting to be fixed and I hope I’m not wasting my money just for it to break again. I’m going into Credit card debt just to keep This car running at this point.
Hit head on by train and air bags did not deploy.
After a hard braking situation, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights activated. A computer scan by the dealer indicated the ABS system failed and needs replacement (computer printout and repair estimate attached). There is a recall (16V-913) for the identical issue for the same year/make/model of my vehicle; however, the date of production is different.
Received an ABS Break light flashing on my dash board. Went to the Valley Volkswagen dealer in Staunton, VA and confirmed the ABS Module needs to be replaced. This is the same part that was on Volkswagen recall 45F2/45F5 ABS and stability control becomes inoperative. With a warning A loss of vehicle control can increase the risk of a crash. This is a safety issue and needs to be repaired as soon as possible. I'm driving an vehicle that is unsafe to drive. Please include my VIN # in this recall. Thanks
Car spontaneously caught fire while driving
My ABS system light has been on, but I haven't had the funds to take care of it. I inherited the car after my daughter passed away, so I don't know how long it's been on. I was just told by my mechanic that there was a recall for this very issue. I'm not in a position to pay what they're asking, but it seems like I shouldn't have to since there was a recall for this. I don't know why your website says there are no recalls for my car, but I feel I fall in this category for the ABS recall. I had a woman pull out in front of me and my car's system didn't work
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the ABS warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module, stabilizer links, and carbon manifold needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. While the owner does not expect VW to pay for the stabilizer links or carbon manifold repairs, they do expect the ABS module to be covered because it was the same faulty module which was in all the other 2009 and 2010 Jettas which were recalled previously. This specific vehicle was, I believe, limited to 1,000 vehicles as it is a limited edition version of the 2010 VW Jetta. It does, however, have the same ABS module as the 2010 Jettas with the open recall. VW Corporate as well as Platinum VW in Hicksville were informed about the recall for 45F2 which recalled the ABS module on most VW Jettas from 2009 to 2010. We were told that our vehicle, for unknown reasons, was not part of that recall. Mind you, this is DESPITE having the same exact failure of the ABS module and Traction Control as the regular 2010 VW Jettas We got the vehicle repaired and had to pay a very large amount of money to replace and repair the module which should have been covered under the recall. We should not be penalized because we have a more limited edition of a vehicle, please help, thank you! I've attached the invoices and payment slips from VW and Eagle Nest Motors which analyzed and repaired the vehicle.

the vehicle ABS module failed back in Nov2020 and was brought to local VW Dealer and diagnosed as bad module. fast forward to Aug 2021 and ABS module failed again and bad wiring was found which is why the first module failed to begin with in my belief. both times when the module failed was after my wife slammed on brakes hard activating the ABS system which in turn caused the warning lights to come on and car go into limp mode. I tried limping the car to the dealership for repair and was almost hit by a large truck coming from behind as I had no response from the accelerator pedal. I am not sure why this particular VIN was never added to the recall list as it fits the criteria as all other vehicles experiencing this issue. we paid $2600 the first time for the repair and are now out more money to have this known problem fixed again !
Im thinking electrical problems lights windshield wipers air locks windows locks dont work when you turn the car off lights dont go out! there is 6 recalls on this car i need to find out if they have been fixed. It was bought for my daughter and can not give it to her like this
I was driving 75 miles an hour on a major interstate and the car stopped accelerating while I was driving.(major safety issue) I was able to get to the side of the road and the car died and would not start again. The glow plug warning light started flashing as this was happening. I was able to get it towed to a repair shop or they told me the high-pressure fuel pump failed and that it was a catastrophic failure because there was metal from the pump through the whole fuel line.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear passenger’s side coil spring had fractured. Additionally, the front passenger’s and driver’s side coil springs were also fractured. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The cause of the failure was not determined. When I try to start the car it was giving me a hard time to turn the key in the ignition then when I got it to start I was coming home and I park the car try to stop the car and take the key out the ignition it won't cut off and the key stuck in the ignition while the car still on it wouldn't let me stop or cut off the car and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition
VEHICLE WILL CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. MULTIPLE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED OVER THIS TIME. THE INTERNET HAS MANY CASES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. VW MUST KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM?
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ONTO A SIDE STREET AND POPPED THE HOOD. THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I THEN PULLED MY PANICKED 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OUT OF HER CAR SEAT AND TOOK HER ACROSS THE STREET. WE THEN CALLED 9-11 AND THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE HE SAYS THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LINE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL FOR MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT FOR MY VIN# EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME CAUSE AS MY CAR'S FIRE!
ONGOING OCCURRENCE: WHEN I START MY CAR THE SUNROOF TILTS OPEN. I START TO DRIVE AND THE SUNROOF WOULD START RANDOMLY OPEN AND CLOSE WITHOUT ME TOUCHING KNOB TO OPEN SUNROOF. I COULD PUSH ON KNOB AND SUNROOF CLOSES FROM TILT POSITION AND AT TIMES IT WOULD JUST OPEN RIGHT BACK UP. THIS OCCURS DURING DRIVING AND WITHOUT DRIVING WITH CAR IGNITION ON. SEEMS LIKE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITHIN THE SUNROOF CONTROLLER.
KEY WONT TURN, AS IF THERE IS A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL (EVEN THOUGH THERE ISN'T). AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED, BUT COULDN'T TURN THE CAR BACK OFF WITHOUT APPLYING AN OVERLY STRONG INWARD PRESSURE TO TURN OFF THE CAR. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS STIFF AND LOCKS UP.
CONTROL PANEL FAN STOPPED WORKING AND BACK PASSENGER FLOOR IS WET.
CAR WILL UNPREDICTABLY STALL SOME TIMES, CLOSE THE IGNITION SWITCH AND ENGINE WILL BE ABLE TO START,,, WILL GO IN LIMP HOME MODE WHEN THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR DTC P00AF....
THE KEY WILL NOT START AND THEN WON'T TURN OFF. IT GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE WHEEL LOCKS. THE LOCK AND NOT STARTING HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY AND THE NOTOTR IS OFF. THE NOT TURNING OFF THE CAR HAPPENS WHEN IT'S STOPPED BUT IGNITION CANNOT BE TURNED OFF.
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION AND I CANT TURN CAR OFF.
I HAVE A 2010 VW JETTA WITH 118K ON IT AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY ENGINE DIED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY CAUSING SOME SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I EVETUALLY HAD THE CAR TOWED TO NEAREST REPAIR SHOP AND THEY ESTIMATED REPAIR COST TO BE BETWEEN 4-5K RANGE TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN TENSINOR. I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND THOUNDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. VW SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS. VERY DISSAPONTED. WON'T BUY ANOTHER VW EVERY AGAIN.
Abs and stability control became inoperative at around 50mph. It's a 55mph road thats heavily trafficked since its near a port. I had to stop the car on the side of the road since we almost crashed into an 18 wheeler. Fortunately we were close to home I drove the car at a reasonable speed just to get home. After that incident we have stopped using this vehicle since it gets even more dangerous every time, especially when it rains. Since then brake light has come on and hydraulic and suspension has been bad. This happened last year when pandemic was still full force and without a vehicle. Had to save and buy a more reliable vehicle for our own safety. I know this is a really good car but i really hope y’all can help me fix this since it’s really not the consumer’s fault. I’ve checked there is a recall for this but my “Jetta” is not in those vehicles that were recalled. I really cant drive the vehicle therefore i have no use for it. Please let me know if something could be done since i wouldn’t like to pay out of pocket for something that could be done by the manufacturer and even save our and others life’s in the future when more vehicle owners come forward. IGNITION SWITCH STOPPED WORKING AND CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON. COST $800 DOLLARS TO REPLACE.
MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND I SEE CERTAIN LIGHTS SHOW UP WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE I LOSE THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT POWERS BACK ON. I'VE ALREADY RULED OUT THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR IN THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND THOUGH THERE IS NOT ONE ASSOCIATED WITH MY VIN THERE ARE RECALLS THAT ARE VERY SIMILAR TO MY ISSUE THAT I HAVE FROM DECEMBER 15, 2016. WHEN THE VEHICLES ELECTRONICS SHUT OF THE WHEEL LOCKS MAKING ME UNABLE TO TURN. WHEN THE ELECTRONICS COME BACK ON I REGAIN FULL MOBILITY. *TR
Every time it rains, water comes down im assuming from my sunroof, ive cleaned the drains multiple times, it doesnt make a differenc, the water goes through my fuse box on the driver side fuse box inside the car like a white water rapid and collects in the floorboard. It blows all of my fuses, it also blows out my headlights, brake lights, and turn signals. Not to mention the mold that must be growing in the car from all the water. I tried contacting volkswagen but they wont do anything.. eventhough ive spent who knows how much money replacing all those bulbs and fuses. Plus the damprid containers ive bought to help dry everything up, and the cleaners, the air freshners, the cost of vacuuming all that water up.. also my doors wont lock, i cant control anything in the car with the drivers side controls, cant open my trunk with the switch by the drivers seat. This has changed my whole opinion of volkswagen vehicles.. i used to think they were really good cars, not anymore!

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON AND I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A RECALL NOTICE. *TR
ALL SYMPTONS OF VW RECALL NO. 37E3/S7 OR NHTSA 09V333000" TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL. THE SELECTOR LEVER POSITION INDICATOR WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL FLASH. THE DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL INDICATOR LIGHT WILL BE ILLUMINATED, ALSO THE TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN A GEAR AND IT WON'T SHIFT. IN BOTH CASES, ONCE YOU STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN IF OFF AND CRANK IT BACK ON, THE PROBLEM WILL SOLVED.
ABS CONTROL MODULE IS DEFECTIVE. I LOSE BRAKING POWER RANDOMLY ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE ON. BRAKE LIGHT WARNING WILL FLASH RANDOMLY AND THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPS UP AND DOWN RANDOMLY.
NOT A COMPLAINT JUST CURIOUS. HAS ANYONE "FRIED" THEIR ABS MODULE AND OR REPLACED ONE. WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET PARTS? HOW MUCH WAS THE AVERAGE COST OF REPAIRS?

TRUNK WIRING HARNESS HAS SHORT CURCUIT WILL NOT OPEN . DEALER RECOMMEND REMOVE AND REPLACE TRUNK WIRING HARNESS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ABS INDICATOR BEGAN TO BEEP. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKES DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN INITIALLY. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY SLOWED DOWN AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP THE VEHICLE FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE CONTACT SLOWLY DROVE HOME WITH THE ABS AND OTHER UNKNOWN INDICATORS FLASHING AND THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE MOVED BACK AND FORTH ERRATICALLY. IT TOOK THE CONTACT HOURS TO DRIVE HOME. GUNTHER VOLKSWAGEN OF FORT LAUDERDALE (1660 S STATE RD 7, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33317, (954) 797-1660) INFORMED THE CONTACT TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE ABS FAILED AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $2,800.
