TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER COIL SPRING FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PERFORMED THE REPAIRS ON THE VEHICLE BY HIMSELF. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER COIL SPRING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE STARTING MY CAR AND GETTING READY FOR WORK I NOTICED I HAD A HEADLAMP OUT. I THOUGHT I COULD DRIVE TO WORK SAFELY SO, I STARTED MY COMMUTE. HOWEVER, ON STOPPING TO GET COFFEE I NOTICED I HAD TAILLIGHTS OUT AND UPON FURTHER TESTING BRAKE LIGHTS WERE FAILING TO. I STOPPED AT A AUTOPARTS STORE TO REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHTS AND NOTICED THAT I HAD LOST THE OTHER HEADLAMP AND BACKUP LIGHTS. I DECIDED TO PARK THE CAR AND CALL THE DEALERSHIP FOR ADVICE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED (TO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE) TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AT THAT TIME IT WAS DIAGNOSED OF HAVING A BURNED FUSE PANEL BOX. IT WAS REPLACED FOR A TOTAL OF $533.11 DOLLARS. THE REASON I AM REPORTING THIS IS I READ AN ARTICLE IN MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER (ZANESVILLE TIMES RECORDER)ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING IN VW TIGUANS. I WANTED TO BRING TO LIGHT THAT IT IS HAPPENING IN VW JETTA'S ALSO. MY CAR IS A 2010 VW JETTA DIESEL. THE HIGH MILEAGE IS DUE TO A 110 MILE ROUND TRIP DAILY COMMUTE. I HAVE THE BURNED FUSE BOX PANEL IN MY POSSESSION IF YOU WOULD LIKE IT FOR INSPECTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE GEARS WERE SHIFTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH KIT INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V333000 (POWER TRAIN). HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AFTER EXITING THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED....I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. *TR
VIBRATION/ DRAGGING FELT WHEN RELEASING THE CLUTCH PEDAL ON MY 2010 VW JETTA TDI SPORT WAGON. CAR WAS TAKEN INTO LOCAL VW DEALER FOR SERVICE. CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, FLYWHEEL, CLUTCH, PRESSURE PLATE AND RELEASE BEARING REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE PLAY IN FLYWHEEL AND HOTSPOTS ON THE FLYWHEEL ALONG WITH BROKEN SPRINGS. NOW AT 31184 MILES AND 10,344 MILES ON THE NEW CLUTCH, ETC. I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE LOCAL VW DEALER SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND IT IS A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD LAST UNTIL 80,000-100,000 MILES PLUS. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS IN MY 17 YEARS OF DRIVING THEM. THIS TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE (I77SOUTHBOUND) AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STARTED SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES. INSTANTLY I HIT MY BRAKES AND STOPPED SAFELY WITHOUT HITTING THAT VEHICLE. LITERALLY 2 OR 3 SECONDS LATER, A CAR REAR ENDS ME AT SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH WHILE I WAS STOPPED. AFTER THAT CAR HIT ME AT THAT RATE OF SPEED, IT CAUSED ME TO COLLIDE INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I DIDN'T HAVE A SINGLE ONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOY AT ALL. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN BECAUSE OF THIS REASON. *TR
7/6/13 AC NOT WORKING AT ALL. ALL MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE AC-COMPRESSOR AND DRIER- WERE REPLACED 7/18/2013 BY VW. AC WORKED FINE FOR REST OF 2013 SEASON. MAY 2014 DELAYED/INTERMITTENT COOLING IN LAS VEGAS, NV. 6/18/14 TOOK TO VW IN HENDERSON, NV AND TOLD THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE SYSTEM. WARRANTY IS 12 MONTHS/12K- 16+K MILES PUT ON CAR BY THE TIME I TOOK IT TO VW IN 6/14-THEREFORE NO WARRANTY. VW RECHARGED SYSTEM AND COOL/COLD AIR BLOWING WHEN TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS UNDER 105 DEGREES. WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP IS 105+DEGREES- AC CUTS IN AND OUT-2 MIN ON/10 OFF/REPEAT. TOOK IT TO VW SERVICE FOR AC DIAGNOSTIC ON THURS 8/7/14 AT 10AM AND GOT THE CAR BACK 8/8/14 AT 4PM. VW SAYING THAT THE WHOLE AC UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED-AC COMPRESSOR, DRIER, CONDENSER, RECEIVER, ACCUMULATOR. VW OF AMERICA WAS CONTACTED AND REGIONAL MANAGER WILL NOT ASSIST WITH COST OF REPAIR-$2300. REASON: THE CAR HAS 93K MILES ON IT. AN AC SYSTEM SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 3 1/2 YEARS (CAR BOUGHT 12/09) AND THEN WHEN MAJOR COMPONENTS REPLACED-AC COMPRESSOR- THEY SHOULD LAST LONGER THAT 10 MONTHS REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY MILES WAS PUT ON THE VEHICLE. THE AC IN THE VW CARS HAVE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE COMPRESSOR, REFRIGERANT CONTROL VALVE, AND FANS. SEE THE VW FORUMS FOR THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THE AC SYSTEM. VW NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
I AM A 51 YEAR OLD DISABLED MAN WITH FULL TIME CUSTODY OF MY 2 KIDS. I DRIVE A 2010 VW JETTA TDI CLEAN DIESEL BOUGHT SLIGHTLY USED WITH 38000 MILES ON IT AND JUST AFTER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY OF 80000 MILES RAN OUT THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER FAILED ON THE CAR WITH UNDER 88000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT'S A $2400.00 REPAIR. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH VWOA AND AFTER INVESTIGATING THEY PAID 100% PARTS AND LABOR ON THE REPAIRS. BUT 3 WEEKS LATER THE SAME PARTS FAIL AND ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE TO VWOA AND I TOLD THEM THE SAME PARTS FAILED THAT WERE JUST INSTALLED AND THEY REFUSE TO SUPPLY THE PARTS OR LABOR TO FIX THE CAR INSTEAD THEY ARE SENDING ME A LETTER THAT THEY REFUSE TO FIX A $2400.00 EMISSION PROBLEM AND I WILL HAVE TO FILE FOR A EMISSIONS WAVER FROM THE CT. DMV . SO MY 2010 VW CLEAN DIESEL WILL NOT PASS IT'S FIRST EMISSIONS TEST INSTEAD WITH THE DMV WAIVER I WILL LEGALLY SPEW SMOKE AND SOOT OUT THE TAILPIPE OF MY VW CLEAN DIESEL AND AFTER READING MANY VW TDI ENTHUSIAST FORUMS THERE ARE LOT AND LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH VW'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SO THERE IS NOTHING CLEAN ABOUT VOLKSWAGEN'S CLEAN DIESEL STAY AWAY FROM BUYING ONE. *TR
2010 JETTA TDI. WHILE DRIVING, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED CAUSING MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO METAL SHAVINGS IN FUEL SYSTEM. VOLKSWAGEN USED THE CONTAMINATED FUEL EXCUSE BUT COVERED THE NEAR $5000 REPAIR BILL. *TR
ROUTINE FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT REVEALED METAL FLAKES IN THE FUEL FILTER INDICATIVE OF FUEL PUMP FAILURE WHICH COULD LEAD TO ENGINE FAILURE AT SPEED. VEHICLE: 2010 JETTA TDI SPORTWAGON (DIESEL). *TR
VEHICLE FAILED AFTER IT WAS DRIVEN 200 MILES POST FILL-UP. THE CAR WAS FILLED WITH DIESEL FUEL IN THE MORNING PRIOR TO COMMUTING INTO ST. PETERSBURG AND BACK TO ST. CLOUD, FL, 206 MILES ROUND TRIP. WE WENT OUT TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START, AND SAID SERVICE NOW. MY WIFE, WHO DROVE THE VEHICLE DURING THE DAY REPORTED NO POWER LOSSES OR IRREGULAR BEHAVIOR WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DAVID MAUS VW WHERE THE TECH FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE FUEL FILTER AND DIAGNOSED AS HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE DUE TO CONTAMINATED FUEL. WE HAVE RECEIPT FROM FILL UP IN THE MORNING SHOWING DIESEL FUEL PURCHASE. *TR
RADIO/CD PLAYER STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THIS DISABLED THE BLUETOOTH HANDS-FREE FUNCTION AS WELL. THIS IS A DRIVING SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP RELAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
PULLED ON TO HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. ENGINE WENT TO IDLE. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. AFTER SEVERAL PEDAL PRESSES IT TOOK OFF. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THE MAIN COMPUTER CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WHILE ON VACATION AND BACKING UP IN THE HOTEL PARKING LOT, BRAKING, THEN PUTTING IT IN DRIVE, THE CAR WOULD STALL OUT; IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN ONE DAY. LUCKILY, I WAS ONLY IN A PARKING LOT WHILE IT STALLED OUT INSTEAD OF IN TRAFFIC, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A BIG HAZARD. WENT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. *TR
PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR LOCK - CANNOT ALWAYSLOCK/UNLOCK DOOR WITH FOB. ALSO SOMETIMES ALL DOORS WOULD LOCK WHEN YOU EXITED THE CAR, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. SOMETIMES THE FOB WOULD UNLOCK ALL DOORS OTHER TIMES ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. A CHILD WAS SECURED IN THE BACK IN A CAR SEAT AND THE FOB SOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR SO I COULD GET THE CHILD OUT - HAD TO USE THE DOOR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. DEALER REPLACED THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM ON THE REAR DOOR. SAME PROBLEM RE-DEVELOPED ON DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR AT 70,000 MILES - AGAIN DEALER REPLACED DOOR LOCK MECHANISM ON THAT DOOR. *TR
ONE OF THE REAR COIL SPRINGS BROKE WHILE DRIVING. *TR
DRIVING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR, AS I ACCELERATED TO PASS ON THE LEFT, THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND ACCELERATED IN SLOW MOTION, IT TOOK ABOUT 1/2 MILE TO GET UP TO 45 MPH. THEN I NOTICED THE DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS STILL DRIVING, NOW ATTEMPTING TO GET ON TO THE INTERSTATE. ACCELERATING AT ABNORMALLY SLOW SPEEDS, IT TOOK ABOUT A MILE TO GET UP TO 60. I THEN DETERMINED FROM THE MANUAL THAT THE LIGHT WAS A "GLOW PLUG" LIGHT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME I COULD CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR, BUT I SHOULD BRING IT TO THEM RIGHT AWAY. THE CAR DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 MILES, AT WHICH TIME THE RED BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. I HAD TO CROSS TWO LANES OF TRAVEL IN ORDER TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. BY THE TIME THE TOW TRUCK CAME, MY LOCAL DEALER WAS CLOSED, AND I WAS FORCED TO CALL A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP OWNER THAT WORKS ON NOTHING BUT VWS AND AUDI'S. (THIS SHOP IS TRUSTED, AND HAS WORKED ON MY VEHICLES FOR 8+ YEARS). HE DIAGNOSED IT AS FUEL PUMP PROBLEM, AND CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS ONLY DIESEL IN THE TANK. I CONTACTED VW USA, WHO WANTED TO TAKE NO ACTION AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RESTITUTION, NOR WOULD THEY TAKE ANY ACTION UNLESS INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. SADLY, VW OBVIOUSLY IS AWARE THEY HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM, AND THIS PUMP SEEMS TO BE EITHER ON BACK-ORDER OR HOARDED BY THE DEALERS, THUS MADE UNAVAILABLE. AT THE CURRENT TIME, MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP IS WORKING DILIGENTLY TO FIND A PUMP SOMEWHERE IN NORTH AMERICA. *TR
I HAD THE AC COMPRESSOR REPLACED, VW OFFERED TO REPLACE PART FOR FREE AND I PAID FOR LABOR AT GUNTHER VW IN FT. LAUDERDALE IN 2013. NOW IN 2015, THE AC IS NOT COOLING AGAIN AND I TAKE MY VW FOR THE 100K MILE SERVICE. I ASK GUNTHER TO CHECK ON THE AC SYSTEM AND THE AC FAILED A PERFORMANCE TEST. AC COMPRESSOR, RADIATOR AND COOLING FAN NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AT A COST OF $1300! REDICULOUS! THE QUALITY OF THIS CAR AND ITS COMPONENTS IS AWEFUL! IVE NEVER HEARD OF AN AC SYSTEM NEEDING TO BE REPLACED LESS THAN 5 YEARS OF MANUFACTURING DATE OF CAR , ON TOP OF AN AC COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT UNDER 75K MILES. I WOULD LIKE VW TO COVER THE COST OF THE PARTS NEEDED TO RUN MY AC AT OPTINUM CONDITION.
THE CAR WAS FUELED UP WITH DIESEL FUEL DURING A ROAD TRIP. AFTER DRIVING FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE REFUEL ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE EVENING, THE GLOW PLUG SENSOR FLASHED, FOLLOWED BY A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THE CAR WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND UNABLE TO BE RE-STARTED. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE CLOSEST VW DEALER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED, CAUSING METAL FRAGMENTS TO BE SENT THROUGHOUT THE FUEL SYSTEM. VW DEALER WILL NOT WARRANTY THE HPFP FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI. THE CONTACTED STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
WHILE IN DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, DSG TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL, WHERE IT BECAME LOCKED. ESP ICON ON DASH ILLUMINATED. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AFTER COMING TO A STOP I PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. I WAS THEN UNABLE TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE FROM PARK BECAUSE THE SHIFTER BECAME LOCKED. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, AND RESTARTED IT, AND THAT SEEMED TO FIX IT; AS I WAS THEN ABLE TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. DURING THIS, I HAD MY 10 MONTH OLD AND 4 YR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME...A SCARY AND UNSAFE SITUATION WITH HEAVY AND FAST MOVING TRAFFIC, WHILE LEFT STUCK REVVING IN NEUTRAL WITH NO POWER AVAILABLE TO MOVE ME OUT OF HARMS WAY. JUST GLAD I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER MY VEHICLE OVER TO SAFETY. SIMILAR SITUATION HAPPENED AFTER REFUELING THAT SAME DAY. STARTED CAR, SHIFTED TO DRIVE, ESP ICON CAME ON, TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK AND REVVING IN NEUTRAL, EVEN THOUGH I WAS IN DRIVE. SHIFTED INTO PARK, WHERE IT AGAIN BECAME LOCKED AND UNABLE TO SHIFT. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, AND WAS OK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN HOT AND HUMID WEATHER, THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR BOX OIL LEAKED OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DURING A NORMAL FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT I NOTICED METAL SHAVINGS IN THE FUEL FILTER. HAVING BEEN AWARE OF THE FAILURE RATE OF THE HP PUMP ON THE TDI'S I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL VW DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THE SERVICE MANGER ASSISTED ME PERSONALLY. THE TECHNICIAN REMOVED THE FUEL FILTER AND IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL FILTER THERE WERE SHAVINGS PRESENT. HE THEN REMOVED TANK FUEL PUMP AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF WATER NOR GAS FOUND IN THE DIESEL TANK. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED VOA'S TECH LINE AND WITHIN A HALF AN HOUR I WAS GIVEN A FREE LOANER CAR. MOST MAJOR PARTS WERE REPLACED IN THE FUEL SYSTEM INCLUDING THE HPP, THE REGULAR FUEL PUMP, ALL FOUR INJECTORS AND ALL OF THE FUEL LINES IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE DIESEL IN THE TANK WAS DRAINED THE TANK WAS FLUSHED OUT AND REFILLED WITH FRESH DIESEL AS WELL AS ALL OF THE FUEL FILTERS WERE REPLACED. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME ON THE 30TH OF APRIL 2013 WITH A FULL TANK OF DIESEL AND COMPLETELY DETAILED. THE CAR SEEMS TO BE RUNNING JUST FINE BUT THEN AGAIN IT WAS RUNNING JUST FINE WHEN I DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. *TR
ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS AT A 4-WAY STOP SIGN. CAR WAS TOWED TO VW SPECIALIST CENTER AND WAS DETERMINED THAT TDI FUEL PUMP AND INJECTOR SYSTEM HAD FAILED. VW SPECIALIST INVESTIGATED AND DETERMINED THERE WAS NO CROSS CONTAMINATION OF DIESEL FUEL, WITH WATER OR GASOLINE. DIESEL FUEL WAS 100% DIESEL IN FUEL SYSTEM. *TR
2010 VW JETTA TDI'S CHECK ENGINE AND GLOW PLUG LIGHTS WENT ON. VEHICLE ERROR CODE READ P0087. VEHICLE ENTERED "LIMP MODE" AND TURBO STOPPED FUNCTIONING. TOWED VEHICLE TO VW DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS SUSPECTING IMMINENT HPFP FAILURE AT MY COST. PAID THE DEALERSHIP $100 TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS A SECONDARY FUEL PUMP ISSUE, REPAIRED THE PUMP, AND CLEARED THE CODE, WHICH COST ME APPROXIMATELY $760. WITHIN 2 HOURS OF PICKING UP MY VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE AND GLOW PLUG LIGHTS WENT BACK ON, VEHICLE ENTERED "LIMP MODE" AND THEN COMPLETED STALLED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START. VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO VW DEALERSHIP, THIS TIME AT THEIR COST. DEALER PROVIDED ME WITH A RENTAL CAR, AT THEIR COST. ONE DAY LATER, DEALER DIAGNOSED ISSUE AS A CATASTROPHIC HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE (HPFP). DUE TO THE DISINTEGRATION OF THE HPFP, SHARDS OF METAL ENTERED THE ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT A LARGE PORTION OF THE VEHICLE'S FUEL SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS A RESULT OF THIS HPFP FAILURE. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER, VW CHOSE TO COVER THE REPAIR (PERHAPS IT IS DUE TO FACT THAT I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND MADE THEM AWARE OF MY SUSPICIONS, YET THEY CHOSE TO SLOUGH OFF MY DIAGNOSIS). FROM THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRING TO COUNTLESS OTHERS, VW IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THE ISSUE, AND SHOULD MOST CERTAINLY RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE STALED OUT WITH COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, WOULD NOT RESTART. HAD CAR TOWED TO VW DEALER, AND IT TOOK 8 DAYS FOR THEM TO FIX. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND CONTAMINATED THE WHOLE SYSTEM. IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT I WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THE 2010 JETTA WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY IT WOULD HAVE COST $4660.22 TO FIX IT.

I TOO WAS NEARLY HIT BY AN ON COMING CAR WHILE MAKING A TURN. NOT TO MENTION IT STALLED WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY GETTING TO THE DEALERSHIP. DURING THE FIRST VISIT FOR THE STALLING PROBLEM, VW HAD THE DEALER DRAIN MY FULL TANK OF DIESEL AS THEY THOUGHT I USED BAD FUEL AND THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. EXCESSIVE METAL SHARDS WERE EVIDENT ON THE FUEL FILTER. VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED PENDING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. SAME VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC AFTER BOUGHT NEW AT APPROXIMATELY 8000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER IN 2010 BUT ENGINE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC FOR THE 1ST STALLING INCIDENT AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. NO SERVICE WAS PERFORMED TO CHECK FUEL SYSTEM AT THAT TIME. *TR
I HAVE HAD 3 DIFFERENT BOUTS WITH MY JETTA STALLING SEEMINGLY RANDOMLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EACH SET OF INCIDENTS RESULTED IN A SERVICE TRIP TO THE VW DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. FOR THE FIRST INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY AND AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANT. THE SECOND SERIES OF INCIDENTS OCCURRED ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER, AFTER THE CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR - REPLACEMENT OF THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. ANOTHER SERIES OF INCIDENTS HAS JUST BEGUN AND I'M HEADED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. ALL 3 SERIES OF INCIDENTS HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS: 1) THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY STALLING UNEXPECTEDLY DURING ACCELERATION AND 2) SLOW CHUGGING START OCCASIONALLY WHEN THE CAR IS WARMED UP. *JB
