NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
I was sitting at a light and when I started to go, my gas pedal went to the floor and that was it. I was able to coast a few feet. I tried to start the car but it would crank but not connect to start. I had roadside assistance drop the car off at the Peoria Volkswagen dealership. a few days later, I was told that the turbo exploded and the propeller broke and destroyed everything. just by looking at it, I was told that it's going to be at least $7400. my car was driving great. there were no check engine lights, no noise, nothing. I asked the dealership if this was common and he said that this was the first time with my kind of car.
Upon pulling out of my driveway in the middle of June 2022, I noticed a piece of metal on the driveway, located near where the front passenger side tire would have been. Upon inspection, it appeared to be a piece of a suspension spring that had somehow broken off and was later confirmed to be true. I have retained the broken piece, which was about 1/2 the circle of the lowest rung of the spring, but do not have the rest of the spring (disposed of by the repair shop). Pictures are attached, as is a copy of the repair invoice. The repair shop (an independent shop) has anecdotally told me that he has seen a number of these situations on Volkswagen's, Volvo's, and another brand which I cannot remember. At this writing, I have not yet contacted the manufacturer but plan to in the upcoming week. This vehicle has just over 10k in mileage and will be 9 years in service come October 2022. As you can see it is not used very much so I find this failure quite disturbing in the sense of safety, material, and repair cost. A couple of weeks earlier, I noticed that the car just seemed to handle slightly different and appeared that it might have been leaning a bit on the passenger's side, but I didn't think much of it as the car materially handled as usual. As you will see from the pictures, I am quite lucky to not have been involved in a serious crash because the sharp angle of the spring failure could have caused a punctured tire while I was driving. As an aside, in my research I have found a recall for spring failures on Volkswagens, but for the rear springs and starting in 2015, and my car is a 2014 with a front spring failure. Still, it does make one think it could somehow be related.
This May, I started hearing a rattling noise under the right front corner of my car. After several hours of looking, I discovered that the right front coil spring was broken! Because of that I couldn't drive my car until it was fixed. On June 3, I bought a used strut assembly from Economy Auto Parts in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Well since struts have to be replaced in pairs, on June 8th, I bought another used strut assembly from the same place. After replacing struts you have to get a front-end alignment too. The parts totaled $85.60. The front-end alignment at Belle Tire in Warsaw, Indiana was $59.99. I have pictures showing the broken spring. I called my local Volkswagen dealer about a recall on those springs, but they said no. You can't drive your car with a broken spring. A broken spring could result in multiple things happening. A piece of the broken spring could fall off and cause a tire to blow out, it could sever the brake line, or sever the ABS sensor wire at the wheel position. And then the broken spring could fall out onto the road and damage another car, motorcyle or truck. There's a number of things that can wear out on a motor vehicle, but a spring only breaks if it is overloaded or has a manufacturing defect. I've noticed on several VW forums online that front coil spring failure is not uncommon. One more thing, when I called my local VW dealer, they said it would cost over $500 to replace just one strut assembly. I think that VW should have to replace the inspect the coil springs, and that they should be replaced if needed.
When turning the car on with the clutch and brake depressed, the car will roll until the engine turns over and the car starts. The brake stops functioning as the ignition is turned and does not function until the car is on. The car will roll if on any incline while this happens. When this happens if I attempt to lift my foot off the brake and put it back to get it to work the brake pedal can no longer be depressed. Once the car is running the brake works and can be depressed again. This is a safety issue as it could cause a crash or car to roll into traffic. No lights or warning signs turn on when it happens. I'm not sure when this first happened but it has happened on multiple occasions.
The key gets stuck in the ignition and won't turn. This can make it so the car can't be turned off. The key won't turn regardless of how the steering wheel is manipulated to make sure it isn't locking the key in place. No warning signs or messages were associated with the incident.
EPC light randomly comes on when driving ,car goes limp and I’ve came close to have 3 accidents.Had car checked out at Volkswagen dealership and they said no repairs were needed .The EPC continues to come on and off This is dangerous Occurs multiple times
The windshield wiper motors are extremely noisy. There is a knock technical service bulletin on this issue but VW says it is not covered as a recall. The issue is that water gets into the improperly sealed motor and then starts to rust the internal metal and then a very loud, noisy whining sound emits from the motor. It should be a recall and it should be replaced for free by Volkswagen. I don’t understand why I should foot the bill for their mistake or their parts supplier’s defect. It does affect safety because the loud wiper motor is a distraction to driving, as well as the unit can potentially seize in the future and cause complete failure of the wiper system.
VW said it is the ABS module. It appears they had this same problem in a previous recall. Safety Recall 45F2 - ABS Control Module Software Certain 2009-2010 Model Year Volkswagen Vehicles They said any or all of the of the components represented by the warning lights may not work. With ABS, traction control, brake & airbag potentially not working that could harm me & my occupants as well as other drivers on the road The component has not been replaced yet as it has taken 4weeks already for the part to come in. It is scheduled to be replaced 3/28/22 I got a warning with three beeps then warning lights come on & stay on (ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE, AIRBAG, TPMS)
I was driving on a busy interstate at 65-70mph when an error notification flashed saying that there is a problem with my hybrid system, then disappeared. A short time later, my car began to rapidly decelerate and the engine just revved when I pushed on the gas. Fortunately, I was in the second to right lane of 5-lanes heading north and was able to coast into the far right lane. Unfortunately, there was no shoulder due to construction, so I was still blocking a lane. After turning on my flashers, I put the car in park, then turned it off. I was able to restart the engine, but could not get it into drive. I tried this multiple times with the same effect. the engine would start, rev when I pressed the gas, but would not move forward. This was a terrifying and life-threatening experience. I am so lucky to have avoided a catastrophic collision with another vehicle. As it was huge semis and other cars were passing me very closely and rapidly. After finally getting through to roadside assistance and the state patrol, I made progress in getting off the interstate and arrange a tow. The engine would go into neutral, so I was eventually able to be pushed off the interstate onto the shoulder of an exit ramp. The transmission shop owner the car was towed to could not accurately diagnose the issue but found this article: https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1126507_2013-2015-volkswagen-jetta-hybrid-recalled-for-transmission-issue. He recommended having it towed to the dealership for further diagnosis. Diagnostic screenshots are attached. There was a recall (38C4) to deal w/ the mechatronic unit, but that did not prevent the problem. The dealership states that it's a "Transmission mechatronic accumulator/transmission internal failure." I spent time on the phone w/ VW America Customer Care. They refuse to help w/ this KNOWN problem with this make, model, and year of this car. The repair estimate is $9,965.67. I have already spent $500 out of pocket for 2 diagnoses and towing.
While driving home from work the vehicle suddenly stopped and stalled in the middle of the road creating an unsafe condition with regard to oncoming traffic. There were no indicator lights that the vehicle was in need of attention, the check engine light was never on, the car had sufficient oil and gas and the battery less than a year old. The vehicle had to be towed. After having a mechanic look at it was told the engine seized and will have to be replaced. The car is only 6 years old and has less than 85k miles on it. Upon looking into the issue with 2014 VW Jettas, I have read several reports of similar instances happening to many others, some even within a year of owning the car. This is a safety hazard. When I spoke to VW of America, I was told there was a recall of the ECM (electronic control module) however they would not give me information as to whether this would cause the car to stall or to need a new engine and would not pay to have their faulty vehicle taken to the dealership via a tow.
SRS system error, says my seatbelt is not fastened when it is, warning chime and light intermittently will continue to chime with light illuminated saying my seatbelt is not fastened. When key is inserted wheel will sometimes not unlock allowing the key to turn from off to accessory or start position, as if the key isn’t working properly.
The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the heater and the defroster were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the heater core was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was determined that the vehicle was designed with a silica bag near the coolant reservoir, and the silica bag had ruptured, causing silica to leak into the engine compartment and to clog the heater pipe. The mechanic was able to flush out a significant amount of silica; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that she resided in a small country area, where it was significantly cold, and the defroster and heater failure had reduced the contact's ability to see the roadway while driving in cold weather and to remain warm inside the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that all the compromised hoses, pipes, and parts might need to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Motor was replaced at 104,714 miles due to knock in engine. Got car after motor replacement and car is doing same exact thing with less than 5000 miles on new motor. Codes that are appearing are oil pressure switch and power train computer issues.
My car has progressed from an intermittent crank/no start issue to outright failure while driving. There have been several incidents where I am driving at ~40 mph and my car completely dies in the middle of intersections/fast moving traffic putting me in grave danger. I have visited the dealership 4 times now with multiple parts replaced but the issue persists, and I feel unsafe driving the vehicle but I have no other option. I have not been given a loaner vehicle at any time from the dealership despite requesting one. There has been no check engine light present at any time. I have had the car since it was brand new and it has been serviced precisely at each service interval only at VW dealerships.
Got the Jetta in 2017 with 70,000 miles on it. It ran good in the beginning but gradually the engine light and the EPC light came on. It began to idle rough and die in the middle of driving it. With my child in the car! We took it to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong with it except it needed an update. Well that didn't help, eventually the whole engine shut down in the middle of driving it, luckily I was right by my house so I was able to get it started again and parked in the garage for a couple months until we could get it into the dealership. They looked at it and said it was an oil consumption problem with no leak and we need a new engine. They wanted to charge us 14 grand for a new engine! Appearently this is a common problem for Jettas. I'm contacting Volkswagen also.
Without any warning, the clutch failed to engage with the transmission. There appeared to be sudden loss of power to the wheels, which left the car inoperable. Upon encountering this issue, we had the vehicle towed to a local VW service center. They proceeded to do an inspection of the vehicle and recommended replacing the entire transmission given issues with their mechatronic units. As we later discovered this is an issue that VW is aware of. Recall 34j6 regarding the mechatronic unit and transmission. I called VW Customer Care and they refused to cover any cost associated with the recommended transmission replacement from the service center. Given that this is a known defect, I'd like VW to stand behind their product and cover the cost of repair, which was estimated at around $9000.
I HAVE A 2014 JETTA HYBRID. MY CAR LOST POWER WHEN I TRIED TO USE IT. BROUGHT IT TO VW OF HAYWARD AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY MECHATRON UNIT. WHICH I PAID FOR. I FOUND A RECALL ON THIS UNIT BUT FOR SOME REASON THE RECALL DIDN'T COVER MY VEHICLE. THAT ODD BECAUSE IT SAYS THAT 2013-2015 JETTA ARE BEING RECALL FOR MECHATRON FAILURES (RECALL CODE 34J6). ALL OF THE PROBLEMS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL WERE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. I THINK MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE RECALL. I DON'T THINK I SHOUILD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR ($2400). THIS DEFECT WAS KNOWN BY VW AND IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO COVER THE COSTS.
The transmission stopped working leaving the vehicle to suddenly lose power. My safety was put at risk trying to cross a busy intersection with no way to propel forward. The dealership is aware of the issue.
The transmission in my 2014 Jetta HYBRID has failed. The vehicle has only 52,315 miles on it. I believe Volks Wagon has a serious problem with the transmissions in a number transmission recall. VW's Customer Care and corporate office offer no explanation or help. A friend had the same thing happen to her VW - low miles - total transmission failure. She paid $6000.00 for a new transmission with a 1 of models it makes. I have had the car serviced at all the recommended mileage intervals at the dealership where I purchased it - the last time about 6 weeks before it broke down. Their multipoint inspection didn't have any issues with the transmission on it. VW's TDI models had a major year warranty and 13 months later that transmission also failed. My car is at the dealership and they're awaiting my decision on repairing it. The cost to do so is $9033.55 probably more than my friend's because mine is a HYBRID. The HYBRID system in my car has an 8 year warranty on it and I realize that the transmission is not the total hybrid system but it does connect to the braking system in hybrids. I guess what I'm saying is that there is something inherently wrong with Volkswagen's transmissions and they need to fess up and replace them at no cost. I purchased their product in good faith believing in legendary German engineering and have been sorely disappointed. The cost of this repair is almost 1/3 of what I paid for the car and my friend's experience has me doubting repairing it. My car is at Heritage VW in Union City, Georgia for inspection. VW has a policy that independent repair places must get a certification on each vehicle for each repair in order to purchase genuine VW parts. The cost of doing this is prohibitive so independent transmission facilities won't do the work. They're monopolizing the repairs to VW's. IF MORE PEOPLE KNEW THIS I DON'T THINK VW WOULD SELL VERY MANY VEHICLES IN THE UNITED STATES IN THE FUTURE. Please help if you can. Thank you.
Please look into this matter ASAP. Still car is at service center in Hamilton VW NJ - Problem1: Emachine repair part of hybrid system covered under warranty Problem2: Multi clutch repair for transmission related which under recall for these cars 2014 hybrid jetta (not sure why service people charging 1700 USD for this repair though there is a recall already reported by VW and my car is clearly impacted with same issue) https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1126507_2013-2015-volkswagen-jetta-hybrid-recalled-for-transmission-issue Vehicle repair history since last 1 month. Air bags failed to deploy on my 2014 volkswagen jetta. I hit a Guardrail head on at 50-60 mph pushing it 8 feet back. I sustained a large laceration on my forehead eventually needing 6 staples and 6 stitches to close it up. My passenger got abbrastions to her head from hitting the window. Which is now cracked and broken throughout. The air bag light came on my dashboard but no air bags were ever deployed. Having just bought this vehicle 6 months ago from a dealership and them verifying that everything was in working order has me wondering what to do about this? $18,000 for a trip to the E.R that night. Needless to say I'm pretty disappointed and know that if the airbags would have properly went off it would have made things Alot easier!!
The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle prior to the vehicle losing motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the timing chain and alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
timming chain damaged engine
I ALSO SUFFER FROM MAJOR OIL LOSS IN MY 2014 JETTA SE 1.8. I HAD CODES POP UP TELLING ME TO REPLACE SOME SENSORS, AND TURNS OUT MY OIL WAS JUST VERY LOW. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH I HAD THE VEHICLE, PURCHASED USED IN 2020, THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY DRY CAUSING ME TO QUESTION THE DEALERSHIP'S PROMISE THAT AN OIL CHANGE WASN'T DONE. I JUST REPLACED THE PCV VALVE, BUT NOW I'M GETTING P0301 AND P03AF CODES, AND MY CAR BARELY MADE IT TO WORK THIS MORNING. I HAD A SUCCESSFUL TEST DRIVE LAST NIGHT WITHOUT ANY ISSUES, BUT NOW I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AT ALL WITHOUT PUTTING THE OLD VALVE BACK IN.
IN EARLY APRIL, MY 2014 JETTA STARTED EXPERIENCING JERKING INTO GEAR WHILE DRIVING OCCASIONALLY. IT APPEARED THAT INCLINES OR ACCELERATION (EVEN THOUGH BOTH WERE GENTLE) WERE THE CULPRIT. SO I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR EVEN GENTLER THAN I ALREADY AM. ON APRIL 16, HOWEVER, THE CAR ALMOST COMPLETELY STALLED ON A BUSY 75 MPH HIGHWAY MULTIPLE TIMES. AS SUCH, I WAS DRIVING AT 20MPH IN CASE IT WAS SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND SPEED THAT WAS THE CULPRIT. I COULDN'T DRIVE ANY FASTER. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THIS MAKES FOR AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SO THIS IS HAPPENING EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. I BITE THE BULLET AND DRIVE ON THE RIGHT LANE AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. I TAKE IT TO AAMCO ON APRIL 20TH, AND THE MECHANICS THERE ARE ALL TERRIBLY SLICK AND SLEAZY. THEY [XXX] ME AND ESSENTIALLY WANT TO CHARGE ME $4000 TO FIX THE TORQUE CONVERTER/TRANSMISSION. WHICH IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS, BECAUSE ACCORDING TO KBB MY CAR COULDN'T BE WORTH MORE THAN $2K. NOW, I'VE TAKEN MY JETTA TO BE RECALLED FOR TWO SEPARATE ISSUES (THE SPECIFICS I FORGET) OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. NEVER HAS VW EVER MENTIONED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2014 TRANSMISSION/POWER TRAINS. UPON DOING RESEARCH, THERE ARE HEAPS OF FOLKS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS ME. SOME ARE ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL, SOME ARE NOT. THIS IS ALL DEPENDENT ON VIN. NOW, I CALL MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY MY VIN ISN'T ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL. HOWEVER, I DISAGREE. THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE PLAGUING MY JETTA ARE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE - BASICALLY THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY. THE O-RING SEALS ARE CLEARLY LEAKING FLUID, WHICH IS IN TURN COMING IN CONTACT WITH MY HOT ENGINE. MY CAR OVERHEATS AND SMOKES, AND TOTALLY STALLS. I THINK THAT DESPITE WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS, MY JETTA IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS RECALL. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I was on lunch brake, going through a McDonalds drive thru, the car just shut off. I had to have it pushed out of drive thru. After several tries it did start again but shut off in the middle of traffic. I couldn’t shift it. I had to have it towed. VW dealer said I needed a new transmission at 62,000 miles. Then I read about the recall and knew that’s what was the matter with my car. The trouble is my car is not on the recall list. It’s the same with many of us who bought jetta hybrids. So I am out $15,000. The only transmission that can be used is the one on the recall.
LAST YEAR I STARTED NOTICING MY ENGINE WAS RUNNING VERY ODD. THE LOW ENGINE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I HAD BARELY ANY OIL LEFT SO I GOT AN OIL CHANGE THINKING THAT WAS THE ISSUE. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, IT STARTED RUNNING ODD AGAIN. I CHECKED THE DIPSTICK AND IT WAS LOW ON OIL AGAIN. THIS KEPT HAPPENING FOR MONTHS. I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO VW SERVICE SHOP TO GET IT CONFIRMED IF THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. THEY TOLD TO COME BACK TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FOR $300. I DIDN'T WANT TO PAY THAT MUCH JUST FOR A TEST SO I ASKED MY FRIEND THAT WORKED THERE IF THEY KNEW ANYTHING. TURNS OUT, THE SERVICE TECHS KNOW ITS A COMMON ISSUE WITH JETTAS AND IT WOULD COST $4K TO GET MY ENGINE REPLACED TO FIX THE ISSUE. I BOUGHT THE IN 2017 AND WAS SO CLOSE TO PAYING IT OFF THIS YEAR.........NOT WORTH IT..... :(
WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY CITY ROAD CAR JUST STOPPED/DIED IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT ALSO HAS MAJOR ISSUES NOT RESTARTING AFTER I TURN IT OFF.
I HAD 38C4 RECALL FIXED ON MY CAR ON 1/14/20. PRIOR TO THAT I DID SOME ELECTRONIC ISSUES FIXED. RECENTLY I PARKED MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. I GOT OUT OF PARKING SPOT AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FWD. I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO WORK WITH MY COWORKERS AND MY CAR JUST SUDDENLY DIED. I RESTARTED IT AND IT WENT A SMALL WAY FURTHER AND DIED AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO GALPIN VW, IN WEST HILLS, CA. THEY SAID THE COMPUTER READ THAT IT NEEDS A NEW GEARBOX. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PART OF A COUPLE RECALLS BUT HASN'T BEEN FLAGGED. ONE OF THE RECALLS ENDED WITH PRODUCTION DATE 10/2013 AND MINE WAS MANUFACTURED 11/2013. THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN 34F6/4V. NOT SURE. MY CAR DIED BEFORE THE FIX FOR 38C4 ALSO. I WAS ON A BUSY STREET AND COULD HAVE GOT MYSELF AND MY COWORKERS KILLED. I TRIED TO SPEAK WITH VW CUSTOMER CARE, WITH JENNIFER WHO SAID AFTER SPEAKING WITH SUPERIORS THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO. MY CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 62,000 MILES. I NEED HELP WITH THIS.
My car died at McDonalds and we had to push it out of the way. I was on lunch with coworker. Then it started and on the way back to work the car just stopped. We did not get hit but we sure could have. I had to have my car towed to dealer with my triple A. They told me I needed a new transmission. After many calls and much haggling I decided to purchase a transmission if I could have the old transmission back. I am sure my car should be part of safety recall VW34J6 and NHTSA 19V866. There are so many of us that are NOT on the recall but have the same problem. My car only had 62,000 miles. And I still owed a loan on it.
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was oil leaking onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics and diagnosed with a transmission coolant assembly leak. One of the mechanics related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V182000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was informed that the transmission oil cooler assembly and the intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer and diagnosed with a rear transmission leak. The dealer informed the contact that the rear main seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
IN THE PROCESS OF DIAGNOSING A TRANSMISSIONS ISSUE FOR A 2014 VW JETTA TDI WITH A DSG TRANSMISSION; THIS CAR WAS RECALLED AS PART OF DIESEL-GATE AND RESOLD AFTER MODIFICATIONS. WE ARE FINDING THE TRANSMISSION CODE RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE IS NOT BEING FOUND IN ANY DATABASE RELATED TO THIS RECALL AND THE RELATED FIRMWARE FOR THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT PART OF THE COC APPLICATION. WE ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE PRIOR TO PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE.
THE CAR STARTED TO SPUTTER AS YOU PRESS THE GAS. IT STALLS AND THEN PULLS BACK, NOT ALLOWING A SMOOTH DRIVE. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AT AN INTERSECTION AFTER DRIVING THROUGH A STOP SIGN. IT IS ALMOST AS IF THE BATTERY AND THE CAR ARE FIGHTING TO SEE WHICH MECHANISM DRIVES THE CAR AND THEN THE BATTERY DOES NOT ENGAGE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS STATED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE ISSUE. THIS CAR HAS HAD ANOTHER RECALL FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSION PARTS.
GOT THIS CAR FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD SON. IT KEEPS STALLING WHILE HE IS DRIVING AND ALSO WHILE IDLING. BEEN TO SHOP 2 TIMES. HAVE REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND CRANKSHAFT AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AND I'M OUT $1200 IN REPAIRS! SERVICE CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR A WEEK....THEN 2 WEEKS...AND IT STILL IS STALLING. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I HATE THIS CAR AND FEEL ABSOLUTELY RIPPED OFF BUYING IT USED. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY CHILD BECAUSE OF THIS STALLING ISSUE, VW IS GOING TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE SEEN YEARS AND YEARS OF COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND NO ONE HAS EVER GOTTEN A RESOLUTION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
VOLKSWAGON JETTA IS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. CONTACTED VW THEY ADVISED ME, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I EXPLAINED TO THEM I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT DUE TO THE RECALL STATES(38B9/9V) IT CAN CAUSE FIRES.
TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LEAKING TRANSMISSION OIL. TOOK TO VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND THEY ATTEMPTED REPAIR AND I LEFT IN THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR START SMOKING AND LEAKING OIL ALL OVER THE ROAD.
2014 VW JETTA HYBRID. DQ200 complete failure. Vehicle shuts off while driving and won’t go into gear. Taken to Osteen VW Jacksonville Fl. Osteen VW + personal research shows that my vehicle ( should** ) be included in RECALL [ 34J6 ] NHTSA CAMPAIGN 19V86600. Have contacted VW Customer support, they told me to screw the off, that only NHTSA can add my vin #. Why is my Vin # not added when 100% of everything involving Recall 34J6 matches my vehicle??? Please lord help me- my car has been in my driveway useless for over a year. I do not have $9000 for this repair. There are literally hundreds of people in my shoes dealing with this identical issues. Please help all of us.
AS I WAS ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY ON-RAMP, MY CAR MADE A LOUD CRACKING SOUND AND SMOKE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO COME OUT OF FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND I STEERED THE CAR TO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. ALL THE SERVICE AND WARNING LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE WERE NOW ON. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE. AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES FOR THE SMOKE TO DISSIPATE, I OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTED OIL ON THE FLOOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK/HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A BLOWN PISTON. MY VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 63,000 MILES AND HAD JUST RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE 5 DAYS PRIOR. THIS CAUSED ME TO FILE A CLAIM WITH THE COMPANY THAT PROVIDED THE OIL CHANGE. PER THE REPORT ATTACHED, THE COMPANY'S INSURANCE INSPECTOR DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS NOT A RESULT OF THE OIL CHANGE. SEE INSPECTOR'S REPORT AND PICTURES ATTACHED, WITH PERSONAL INFORMATION REDACTED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT FUNCTIONAL. BASED ON ADDITIONAL RESEARCH, THIS I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE A RESULT OF A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT AFFECTS A VARIETY OF VW MODELS. HOWEVER, BASED ON VIN LOOKUP AND DISCUSSION WITH VW CUSTOMER CARE, MY VIN HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED TO BE COVERED UNDER THE TIMING CHAIN EXTENDED WARRANTY STIPULATED IN BULLETIN VWP-18-07.
MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER IS LEAKING TRANSMISSION OIL ALL OVER MY CAR/UNDER MY CAR. MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO VW DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC ONLY FOR THEM TO NOT FIX THE CAR AFTER 700.00 AND I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS FIXED UNTIL I DROVE IT 10 MIN DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR WAS SMOKING AND LEAKING OIL EVERYWHERE. THE CAR ALMOST CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO THE LEAK.
CAR BEGAN USING EXCESSIVE OIL IN LAST YEAR. STARTED ABOUT 60,000 MILES. CURRENTLY 69,000. TODAY WOULD NOT START AND NO LOW OIL LIGHT. CHECKED OIL AND LOW. ADDED 1 QUART IN A 4 QUART SYSTEM CAR STARTED, RAN. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ALL BURN OIL .SOME BURN A QUART EVERY 1500 MILES. THE 2.0 LITER TURBO ENGINE IM FINDING IS THE CULPIRT. HAVE ONE OTHER IN CAR A TIGUAN BUT NO PROBLEM YET (2018 MODEL YEAR). IF THIS OIL GET LOW AS DRIVING WITH NO CHECK OIL LIGHT COMING ON 1( CAN IT STALL AND POSSIBLY CAUSE ACCIDENT.OR 2) KILL MOTOR AND LOOSE POWER TO ALL AND POSSIBLY CAUSE ACCIDENT? ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS? ANY HELP AS WHAT TO DO? THANK YOU
EVERY SINGLE LIGHT ON THE DASH IS TURNED ON EVEN THOUGH THERE'S NO PROBLEM, AND THE SPEEDOMETER METER DOESN'T MOVE. I GOT THE ISSUE FIXED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SAID THE COMPUTER ONLY NEEDED TO BE RESET, BUT THE VW DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT I STILL HAVE A BIG ISSUE THAT CAN EFFECT THE USAGE OF MY BRAKES, AIRBAGS, EVERYTHING, AND WANTS TO CHARGE ME $3500 FOR A NON-PROBLEM. SINCE THE SENSORS ARE ALL ON, I DON'T KNOW WHEN TO FILL UP OIL OR GAS, AND I WON'T BE ALERTED IF I HAVE A FLAT TIRE OR THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT SINCE THE SENSORS ARE DEAD IT MAY NOT DEPLOY MY AIRBAG SYSTEM. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S NOT WORTH FIXING, MY CAR ONLY HAS 49,537 MILES AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION; THIS IS ABSURD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, HE NOTICED OIL WAS LEAKING FROM VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RITCHEY AUTOMOTIVE (5320 I-55 NORTH JACKSON, MS 39211, (888-698-7459) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER O-RING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN THE FOLLOWING, LB/HB IS LOW BEAM, HIGH BEAM: ' THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR FOR HB IS ALWAYS ON, EVEN WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN LEVER IS ON LB AND LIGHTS ARE REALLY LB. ' THE TURN SIGNAL DASHBOARD LIGHT BLINKS FAST -- LIKE THERE IS A BURNT-OUT BULB -- BUT THEY ACTUALLY FLASH FINE. ' WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN LEVER IS SET TO HB, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE ARE DEAD; OR, THE HB BULB DOESN'T LIGHT AT ALL AND THE LB BULB GOES FAINT. ' WHEN I TURN THE LIGHTS OFF WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, THEY STAY ON ' SAY I'M DRIVING AT NIGHT ALL EVERYTHING IS FINE. I TURN THE CAR OFF; WHEN I START IT UP AGAIN SECONDS LATER, THE LIGHTS ARE MESSED UP FINALLY, THE LIGHTS USUALLY STAY EITHER WORKING OR ARE MESSED UP WHILE DRIVING, BUT ONCE IN A WHILE, THEY WILL GO FROM WORKING TO MESSED UP OR VICE VERSA WHILE DRIVING. BUT I WORK AT NIGHT AND LIVE ONLY ONE MILE FROM MY JOB, SO I HAVE NOT HAD THIS CAR ON THE ROAD AT NIGHT FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT LENGTH OF TIME. THE MOST COMMON SCENARIO IS THAT THE CAR HAS SAT FOR HOURS; I START IT, AND THE LIGHTS ARE EITHER MESSED UP OR WORKING FINE, AND THEY STAY THAT WAY UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND STARTED AGAIN.
IF I DRIVE WITH THE CAR THE BRAKE-WARNING LIGHT, ABS LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON. IT ALARMS. I BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AND THEY ASKED GERMANY BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WRONG IS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE WITH THESE LIGHTS. THEY RESET THE COMPUTER BUT IT HAPPENS AFTER 20 MILES AGAIN.
PROBLEM WITH AIR BAGS. CODE 9437201 WILL RESET BUT COMES BACK.
ON JUNE 21, 2020 WHILE DRIVING DOWN A PAVED FLAT ROAD MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING SNAPPED. I DID NOT HIT ANY BUMPS. THE PART WAS NOT RUSTY AND DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF WEAR. I HAD THE PART REPLACED. YESTERDAY, AUGUST 3, 2020, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT COIL SPONTANEOUSLY SNAPPED WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PAVED FLAT PARKING SPOT. AGAIN THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY RUST, ROT, OR WEAR ON THE SPRING. THE SPOT WHERE EACH HAS BROKEN IS VERY CLEAN.
EPC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY; VEHICLE THROTTLED DOWN AND CONTINUED TO BUCK AND STALL OUT; LOSS OF POWER AND SPEED. VERY DANGEROUS WHILE IN TRAFFIC. NO SPECIFIC DIAGNOSTIC CODE(S) WERE SAVED OR TRIGGERED. THIS CAUSES COSTLY AND UNNEEDED DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIRS
WHEN THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS TO LOWER GEARS THE ENGINE STUTTERS AND EVENTUALLY STALLS OUT
