When driving the vehicles power dropped suddenly, especially above 3000 RPM. The actuator arm on the waste gate for the turbo charger broke. Error P2263 was seen on an OBD reader. A quick search online seems to show this is a prolific issue with Volkswagen 1.4 TSI engines between 80,000 and 90,000 miles. My wife and daughter could be seriously hurt down a highway onramp and the power cuts out.
We own a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving at 55 MPH, he heard a loud Bang noise and experienced difficulty steering the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. We pull over to inspect the vehicle, We did not see any problems with the tires and they looked ok. But there was smoke coming up from the front passenger side. We were able to drive the vehicle another mile before more smoke was coming from under the passenger side. When we pulled over again we realized the right front tire on the passenger side was shredded. We called AAA. replaced the tire with the spare and went home. We called the VW dealer and took the car in. They said it was a front suspension coil spring that broke and punctured the right front tire.
Front left headlight has no power going to it. Rear right tail light has no power going to it. Third, brake light has no power going to it. Wind shield washer pump has no power going to it. Both rear doors do not lock. This issue is all connected with each other because it fixed itself. Once and they all came back on together and then it went back out.
My check engine line came on; code P05A0. A scan showed that it is my active radiator shutter assembly that is causing the error. My car only has 26K miles, and it seems strange that it would be having an issue. When I took my car to the dealership, the service rep told me it is a very common issue. It is also going to cost around $900 to repair. My car is perfectly drivable (the service rep confirmed it), but I won't be able to pass emissions in AZ with my check engine light being on. The shutters remain open at all times. I can hear it open and close and reopen sometimes when I start my car or while I'm driving, but it will always remain open. My dealership is so backed up that I'd have to leave my car for several days before they could even get to it. I do not have the time or money to do the work, so I didn't leave it for it to be repaired. I have found others on VW forums that have gotten the same error message at about the same mileage I am at. Your organization released a technical bulletin for this issue for 15-16 Jettas, and I appreciate it if you could look to see if the issue continued through the 17 models.
Car won't start. I have had to call AAA every other day because my car is not starting. It won't start unless I drive it every day. One month after buying the car I was having trouble with it starting. Purchased a new battery,in2020.Drivetime should be investigated for taking advantage of a senior citizen.having had cars in the past I have never had anything like this VW Jetta.It was not because of the weather either.

The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was started, the infotainment touch screen occasionally went black and did not respond to touch commands. Additionally, the side buttons of the infotainment screen did not respond when depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the infotainment screen was inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, he heard an abnormal rattling noise and experienced difficulty steering the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. As the contact attempted to pull over to inspect the vehicle, he noticed that the rattling noise was coming from the front driver’s side spring. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle home without further incidence. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
The seat belt anchor will not grip, click and lock right away. It takes several times before it locks. Afraid it will become dislodge while traveling. Auto dealer will have to remove and replace entire seat belt mechanism and was advised not to drive the vehicle due to safety concerns.
Airbag wiring under front seats deteriorate over time causing an error to the airbag system, disabling the airbags.
Infotainment unit is extremely faulty with proximity sensors going off randomly engaging brakes and rear view camera not working. VW solution was a full replacements in excess of car's value
My daughters car was hit on highway on drivers rear quarter panel. Major damage, frame and axle on car bent. Airbags did not deploy. No serious injuries. Occupants head hurts from impact, w steering wheel, seat belt was on.
Door lock actuator for all passenger doors, the only one that hasn't failed is the driver's door.
Battery died. Went to dealer in another vehicle to purchase a battery. Installed the new battery and now have an airbag light. Called dealer to learn how to reset airbag, and they said it requires a special tool to reset along with a service charge ($80 to $160). Should an airbag system require special tool and/or knowledge when the car is required to have them? Everything else is operating normally, but airbags are out of service.
I WAS PARKED AND SUDDENLY MY CAR DID NOT WANT TO START, NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. AFTER BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ACCORDING TO THEM BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND IT HAS BEEN ONLY ABOUT 2 YEARS OR LESS FROM LAST REPLACEMENT. THIS ISSUE CLEARLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY AS BATTERIES SHOULD LAST FOR MINIMUM OF 3 YEARS. ALSO AFTER EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP IS STATING I MUST REPLACE FAULTY AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT AND PAY IT FROM MY POCKET WHICH I FIND UNACCEPTABLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FURTHER INVESTIGATED AS AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR CAN ALSO BE RELATED TO ' VOLKSWAGEN'S CLOCK SPRING PROBLEMS'.
I WAS DRIVING ON ROAD & I HIT A MAJOR ROCK OR A POTHOLE I WAS IN HYATTSVILLE. I WORK & LIVE IN THE CITY OF HYATTSVILLE. I DRIVE THOUGH THE BLADENSBURG/HYATTSVILLE TO DO MY DELIVERIES WORKING BUT THIS ONE JUST DAMAGED MY VEHICLE & STARTED A MAJOR LEAK FROM MY TRANSMISSION PAN. I LEFT WORK CAUSE I NOTICED IT WAS LEAKING CONSTANTLY DROVE IT HOME AND SAT IT DOWN.
The contact owns a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, it was discovered that the horn was inoperable and there was no longer an audible sound while activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure continued intermittently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Additionally, the TPMS warning light would remain illuminated even though the tire air pressure levels were at the correct air pressure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IT TURNED OFF ON ME AND STARTED LEAKING FUEL.
Dealer does not have parts to fix recall. Received fuel rail recall notice in March. It is late May and have called dealer multiple times with same response. Recall is for fuel rail that may leak.
AS I BRAKED FOR A STOP SIGN IN MY TOWN, THE CAR BEHAVED AS IF ON ICE OR SNOW, IT WASN'T. THE LIGHT WITH THE SKIDDING CAR, THE ABS LIGHT, AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. AS I CONTINUED, IT HAPPENED TWICE MORE ON MY WAY HOME.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE CODE CAME ON AS WELL AS THE EPC LIGHT. THE CAR WOULD TRY TO START BUT WOULD RUN VERY ROUGHLY. WHEN I GOT IT HOME I STARTED IT AND NOTICED FUEL POURING FROM THE FUEL RAIL
CAR CAN BE TURNED OFF EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE UNBEKNOWNST TO THE DRIVER. THIS RESULTED IN THE CAR ROLLING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGE TO PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER VEHICLES. A ACCIDENT DID OCCUR ON FEB 12, 2021 IN SPROUTS GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT IN LA MESA, SAN DIEGO CA. INSURANCE COMPANIES HAVE BEEN INVOLVED TO REPAIR THE OTHER PARTIES VEHICLE INVOLVED. THE DAMAGE TO THE MENTIONED CAR INCLUDES DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER, TAIL LIGHT AND SIDE BODY. THE OTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED NEEDS THE ENTIRE SIDE PANEL REPLACED.
I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN TODAY TO ASK ABOUT THE FUEL RAIL REPAIR AND WAS INFORMED THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION NOR A TIME FRAME OF WHEN THEY INTEND TO BE ABLE TO FIX IT. I PERSONALLY DON'T FEEL SAFE ALLOWING MY SON TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT I COULD NOT SELL THE CAR DUE TO THE RECALL NOW I'M STUCK WITH A VEHICLE I CANNOT SELL OR DRIVE DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT MY CATCH FIRE. I FEEL AS THOUGH THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX IT IN A TIMELY MANNER OR BUY THE VEHICLE BACK
RECALL NUMBER: 20V648 IS NOT RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THERE IS NOT A REPAIR AVAILABLE YET.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM LARSON AUTOMOTIVE GROUP IN MID JANUARY 2021 AND, ONLY AFTER CHECKING YOUR SITE, FOUND THE RECALL. I NOTIFIED THEM AND THEY RETURNED THE CAR AND I PURCHASED A DIFFERENT JETTA THAT I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH. MY CONCERN IS THAT THEY ARE STILL SELLING THIS VEHICLE AND AT LEAST 4 OTHER JETTA 1.4 TS ON THEIR SITE. I AM WORRIED OTHERS WILL NOT CHECK AS I DID AND BE SOLD A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE, WITH AN ACTIVE RECALL.
CAR HAS 65K ON IT AND HAS BEEN ACTING UP FOR AT LEAST 10K MILES ON THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 1. THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON DASH WENT ON FOR NO REASON AND I HAD TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE FOR IT TO BE RESET. 2. THE RADIO LINKS TO MY PHONE ONLY 50% OF THE TIME WITH A FAILURE NOTICE POSTED ON THE MONITOR. THE BLUETOOTH WILL STILL WORK BUT TO CONNECT WITH MY CORD TO ALSO CHARGE, VERY INCONSISTENT. 3. THE TIRE DASH LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED DESPITE HAVING THE TIRES AND MONITORS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES. 4. THE BACK UP WARNING INDICATOR HAS RECENTLY STOPPED ALERTING ME AND I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF BACKING INTO A CAR TODAY. I WOULD LIKE MY DASH TO BE ERROR MESSAGE FREE AND MY RADIO RELIABLY WORKING VIA MY PHONE CORD. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT CORDS, PURCHASED NEW TIRES AND MONITORS, AND THE SAME ISSUES CONTINUALLY OCCUR. THIS ALL OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS POWERED ON, DOES NOT MATTER IF IT IS PARKED OR BEING DRIVEN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER BROOKLYN VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE CENTER (599 E 56TH ST, BROOKLYN, NY 11203, (718) 484-7788) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED. THE VIN STILL SHOWED THE VEHICLE AS UNREPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000.
MY VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL BECAUSE MY FUEL RAIL BOLTS CAN BECOME LOOSE CAUSING A FUEL LEAK AND A FIRE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE ALLOWING MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE GOING BACK AND FORTH TO COLLEGE. I HAVE CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE CONCERNING A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL A REMEDY EXIST. THEY TOLD ME THE DEALERSHIPS HANDLE LOANERS AND A RECALL THAT DOES NOT HAVE A REMEDY DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A LOANER CAR PER THE DEALERSHIP. I STILL HAVE TWO YEARS TO PAY ON THIS VEHICLE THAT IS DEEMED UNSAFE AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT EVIDENTLY. IS THERE A LAW FIRM HEADING UP A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR IS THE GOVERNMENT HELPING IN ANY OTHER WAY. THIS IS HOW THE BIGGEST AUTOMAKER IN THE WORLD HANDLES RECALLS. WE HAD A RECALL WITH NO REMEDY IN OUR LINCOLN AND CORPORATE LINCOLN GAVE US A LONER AT NO COST FOR 7 MONTHS UNTIL THEY FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX IT. I AM FORCED TO KEEP PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT MAY KILL MY DAUGHTER. IF THEY CAN'T FIX IT THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY IT BACK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MOLLE VOLKSWAGEN (808 W 103RD ST, KANSAS CITY, MO 64114) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR COST. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V648000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SMELLED GAS, PULLED OVER, CAR DIED, EPC LIGHT CAME ON. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST VW DEALER.
VEHICLE FUEL PUMPS FAILED AND VEHICLE DISABLED. I IMMEDIATELY SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC; UPON INSPECTION, NOTICED, SMELLED GAS LEAKING FROM VEHICLE RAIL BOLTS. VOLKSWAGEN AMERICA CONTACTED AND VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP (OURISMAN, WALDORF, MD). INITIALLY TOLD NO GAS LEAKING, CHARGED $229.00 WITH RECOMMENDATION TO CLEAN ENGINE AND INTERIOR COVERING UNDER THE HOOD AND NEW CABIN FILTER (I DECLINED AND VOICED MY FRUSTRATION). TOLD NO GASOLINE LEAKING AND RELEASED THE VEHICLE. A FEW DAYS PASS AND VEHICLE SITS, NOTICE A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE AND CALLED DEALERSHIP. TOLD TO TOW VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, TOLD AGAIN NO GASOLINE LEAKING. I TRAVERSED TO DEALERSHIP AND POINTED OUT THE ISSUE. THEN TOLD MY ISSUE AND NOT COVERED BY RECALL .... LOTS MORE TO TELL VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA CASE NUMBER # 04621276

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON A LEAKING FUEL PROBLEM. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT BUT THEY SAY THEY CANT REPAIR IT. I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN SOME LEAKING LIQUID.
I NOTICED TODAY AFTER DRIVING MY CAR WHEN TURNED OFF, THE FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM EXHAUST PIPE.
REMOVING THE KEY WHILE THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN A POSITION OTHER THAN "PARK" INCREASES THE RISK OF AN UNINTENDED VEHICLE ROLLAWAY THAT MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR A CRASH. I ASKED AFTER I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. I CALLED RECENTLY AND WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT IS A DAILY DANGEROUS FAILURE ON VW'S PART. IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY AND WHEN CALLED THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I DID NOT GET ANY RECALL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ISSUE.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 11/05/2020 GOT IT CHECKED AND A OIL CHANGE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE DUE WITHIN 500 MORE MILES, THESE CODES CAME UP MB2, BR80, MA28, P068A. CAR IS RUNNING FINE BUT MY ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE TO CYLINDER'S MISFIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO CITY VOLKSWAGEN OF HIGHLAND (9601 INDIANAPOLIS BLVD, HIGHLAND, IN 46322), WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,200.
I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A 40 MPH ZONE TO A 65 MPH HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THEN ENTER A LIMP MODE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I RAISED THE HOOD TO SEE AN OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF FUEL SPRAYING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST CERTIFIED MECHANIC, VALLEY MOTOR HONDA, SHERIDAN WY. THERE WAS NOT A VW SHOP WITHIN 100 MILES OF THE BREAKDOWN. UPON ORIGINAL INSPECTION, A TORQUES HEAD BOLT WAS DISCOVERED LOOSE FROM THE FUEL RAIL AND THE FUEL RAIL WAS SEPARATED FROM THE INJECTOR ON THE DISTAL CYLINDER (SEE PICTURE). SIMPLY TIGHTENING THE FUEL RAIL DID NOT SATISFY THE PROBLEM. THIS IS REPORTEDLY THE RESULT OF THE INJECTORS SHIFTING POSITION AND/OR BEING DAMAGED. AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THIS COMMON VW JETTA PROBLEM, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP IN BILLINGS MONTANA. IT APPEARS THAT THE PRESCRIBED RECALL FIX FOR THIS ISSUE MIGHT ONLY REQUIRE SOME LOCTITE AND WRENCH TURNING FOR THE CARS THAT HAVE NOT YET EXPERIENCED THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE FIX LOOKS TO BE MORE EXTENSIVE FOR CARS LIKE MINE THAT WERE NOT CAUGHT IN TIME. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT BILLINGS VOLKSWAGEN FOR 14 DAYS WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PARTS ARE INVOLVED OR WHY THE REPAIRS NOT AVAILABLE. I CAN PROVIDE A COPY OF THE REPAIR BILL FROM VALLEY MOTOR HONDA IN WHICH THE FUEL RAIL WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE SOURCE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE.
THIS 2017 JETTA HAD A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SPRAYING FROM THE FUEL RAIL WHICH WAS CAUSED BY POORLY INSTALLED FUEL RAIL BOLTS. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A CERTIFIED VW DEALERSHIP ON NOV 11TH FOR REPAIR OF THIS DOCUMENTED MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE CAR REMAINS IN THE POSSESSION OF BILLING MONTANA VOLKSWAGEN WITH NO RESOLUTION TO THE OPEN SAFETY RECALL. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 28TH, 2020. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN VW HANDS FOR 46 DAYS. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD TAKE UP TO SIX MORE MONTHS TO FIGURE OUT THE "PRESCRIBED FIX".
PROBLEMS WITH FRONT ASSIST. I WAS TOLD THIS FEATURE WAS ON MY VEHICLE AND VERIFIED THAT IT WAS AT THE TIME OF SALE. UNFORTUNATELY IT DOES NOT EVER DETECT A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I COULD BE IDLING AND HIT A BRICK WALL OR GOING 65MPH DOWN I95 AND A VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPS IN FRONT OF ME EITHER EVENT NOTHING HAPPENS. THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AS DESCRIBED AND THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD AND THE FRONT ASSIST SYSTEM IS ENABLED EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. THE FACT THAT THIS SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK AT ALL IS VERY DISAPPOINTING AS IT WAS A MAJOR SELLING POINT OF THE CAR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THAT 4 BOLTS WERE REPLACED IN THE PAST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,400. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

A POLICE ARRIVED AT THE THE CRASH SCEEN AND THE CONTACT DID NOT RECIEVE NOTICE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR WAS SMASHED IN FROM HITTING THE TREE, THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED SEVERLY. THE FRONT OF THE SMASHED IN THE MIDDLE FROM CRASHING INTO THE POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY TO AN IMPOUND LOT FOR THE POLICE. AN IVESTIGATION JUST ENDED ON 12/04/20 AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE RELEASED SO IT COULD BE DECLARED TOTLED BY HER INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER SPRINGFIELD MITSUBISHI313 BALTIMORE PIKE, SPRINGFIELD, PA 19064 (484) 574-8434 STATED THEY WOULD NEED ALTTER FORM THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR A FULL FINANCIAL SETTLEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING NORMALLY AND WITHOUT ISSUE UNTIL I GOT IT HOME AND WHEN I NEEDED TO LEAVE AGAIN, THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT START. FOUND TO HAVE A GAS LEAK POOLING UNDER MY CAR AND FUEL LEAKING OUT FROM AROUND THE FUEL ROD EVERY TIME I TURNED THE KEY. I WORK AS A HOSPITAL EMPLOYEE ON CALL AND MY CRITICALLY ILL PATIENT'S CARE WAS DELAYED BECAUSE OF MY INABILITY TO GET MY CAR RUNNING.
THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS NO IMPACT BY DEBRI OR COLLISION... IT JUST EXPLODED SUDDENDLY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT IS ALARMING WHILE DRIVING, SHATTERED GLASS FLYING AT YOU IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO THE DRIVER, THE PASSENGERS, AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD!
MY CAR CAN BE TURNED OFF AND DOES NEED TO BE IN PARK. THE ELECTRICAL COMES AND GOES BUT THE MOST ALARMING IS THE JETTA ACCELERATES ON IT'S OWN AND IT TAKES A COUPLE OF MINUTES TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL. AT ONE POINT I HAVE NO WAY OF STOPPING THE ACCELERATION TO STOP. ALSO, I ASKED CRESTMONT VW IF IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE CAR OFF AND NOT IN PARK. THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS NORMAL. THE JETTA HAS ROLLED BACK AND ALMOST HIT PEOPLE. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALLS FROM THE COMPANY. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
PURCHASED NEW 2017 VW JETTA FROM THE DEALER. ALWAYS KEEP UP WITH THE SERVICE. ALARM HORN HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY WORKING AND FINALLY WENT OUT AT 43000 MILES. AFTER READING MANY MESSAGE BOARDS SEEMS LIKE AN ONGOING ISSUE ON MANY NEW MODELS WITH LOW MILES.

FROM THE START, THE HANKOOK KNTROL M&S 224/45/R17 TIRES PROVIDED VERY POOR CONTROL IN WET OR EVEN LIGHT SNOW DRIVING CONDITIONS, IN SPITE OF GOOD ALIGNMENT AND WHEEL BALANCE. BY 22,000 MILES(07/2020) THE TIRES HAD BECOME EXTREMELY NOISY , WITH A THUMP, THUMP NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, DID A COMPLETE VEHICLE CHECK IN AUGUST OF 2020, INDICATED NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND PLACED THE BLAME ON THE TIRES, OF WHICH THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY. HANKOOK CORPORATE SAID THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY, IN SPITE OF TIRES STILL BEING WITHIN WARRANTY . READING NUMEROUS CONSUMER REVIEWS SHOWED THAT MY PROBLEM AND SAFETY CONCERNS ARE SHARED BY MANY WHO HAVE OEM HABKOOKS. THIS INCLUDES TOYOTA AND HONDA OWNERS, FOR EXAMPLE. MY CONCERN IS THAT BEYOND THE 'NOISE'ISSUE, THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. OF THE 150 + REVIEWS, A COMMON CONCERN WAS NOT JUST POOR PERFORMANCE AND VERY SHORT TREADWEAR LIFE, BUT A VERY REAL SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE A 2017VW JETTA WHICH SUDDENLY 'LOCKS' AS I AM DRIVING. MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTS REDUCING SPEED AND THE BREAKS BECOME STIFF. I SEE SEVERAL LIGHTS FLASH ON THE DASHBOARD, SUCH AS THE EPC LIGHT, TIRE WARNING LIGHTS, AND MOTOR LIGHT. AFTER THE MATTER, IF I WANT TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN, THE BREAK AND SHIFT STICK BECOME STIFF AND I CAN'T START THE IGNITION. I RECALL THIS HAPPENING TO ME ONE YEAR AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE BUT ALL I DID WAS TURN OFF THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY. SAME THING, I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAIT FOR ABOUT 20-30 MIN FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. YESTERDAY THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF AND MY CAR STARTED REDUCING SPEED ON ITS OWN. I NO LONGER HAD CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FORCING ME TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AT A VERY LOW SPEED ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 15 MIN FOR MY CAR TO START AND WAS ABLE TO GET DOWN OF THE FREEWAY BUT IT KEPT ON HAPPENING ON MY WAY HOME AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ABOUT 6 TIMES WAITING 10-15MIN EACH TIME FOR MY CAR TO START. I SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND HOPEFULLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO GET ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
