THIS IS A BRAND NEW MANUAL TRANSMISSION JETTA GLI WITH ONLY 160 MILES. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 16 MINUTES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE CAR QUIETLY STALLED OUT WHILE COMING TO A STOP ON AN EXIT RAMP. I RESTARTED THE CAR, DROVE TO A STOPLIGHT ABOUT A MINUTE AWAY AND AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT THAT LIGHT THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN AND DRIVE OFF. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE CAR WAS TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN OR AT HIGH SPEED ON AN EXPRESSWAY.
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY FROM A STOP, THERE IS A SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT COMES FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. IT ONLY HAPPENS BETWEEN ANYWHERE FROM 25-40 MPH AND IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW HARD OR EASY ACCELERATION IS HAPPENING. I TRIED TAKING IT OUT OF ECO MODE TO SEE IF THAT WAS IT, BUT IT WAS NOT. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE EXPLAINING THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL, BUT NOT REALLY TOLD WHAT IT WAS THAT WAS CONSIDERED NORMAL. THE SECOND TIME I HAD A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM KICKING ON. I'VE NOTICED DRIVING IT MORE NOW THAT IT DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE IT'S COMING FROM THE POWER TRAIN.THE CAR IS A LITTLE OVER A MONTH OLD AND WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW.
THE ENGINE OF MY NEW 2019 JETTA GLI 6MT SOMETIMES STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS FULLY DEPRESSED (DISENGAGED), WITH THE STICK EITHER IN 1ST OR NEUTRAL. THIS HAPPENED 3 OR 4 TIMES YESTERDAY, AUG 1 2019, AFTER DRIVING WITH MEDIUM SPEEDS ON HILLY ROADS FOR 30-45 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE HAS AROUND 350 MILES ON IT.
The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger’s side air bag system had erroneously deactivated while a passenger was seated in the seat. Occasionally, the system activated while no passenger was seated in the seat. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated, and no issue was found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 900.
INITIALLY THE ISSUE WAS WHEN TURNING FROM A LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD GET STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND REV REAL HIGH, UNTIL IT STRAIGHTENED OUT A LITTLE, THEN IT WOULD SWITCH. THE LAST ISSUE, FROM A STOPLIGHT, THE CAR GOT STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND I COULDN'T GO PAST 20 MPH UNLESS I WANTED TO BLOW THE ENGINE. I STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED ABOUT 15 MINS AND SLOWLY TESTED IF THE GEARS WOULD SHIFT AND IT DID. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST SIMPLY REFILLED THE FLUID AND STATED TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. THIS CAR'S TRANNY FLUID WAS REFILLED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. NO PARTS CHANGED AT ALL, BUT THEY SAY IT'S FIXED. MUST BE MAGICAL TRANNY FLUID THEY PUT IN THIS TIME. SO NOW I WAIT FOR THE CAR TO BREAKDOWN AGAIN AND HOPE THAT I DON'T GET CAUGHT IN A POSITION WHERE I NEED TO ACCELERATE AND IT GETS STUCK IN A LOW GEAR. AND TO TOP IT OFF, I GOT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT A NEW CAR WOULD BE DEPENDABLE... I DRIVE SICKLY ELDERLY CLIENTS TO THEIR APPOINTMENTS, AND THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN ENDURE A BREAKDOWN OF THE CAR AND WAIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
ENGINE STALLS OCCASIONALLY, I HAVE THE DSG AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND SOMETIMES WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND A REQUEST DISPLAYS ON THE SCREEN ASKING ME TO MANUAL RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 5 TOMES ALREADY SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LAST A FEW DAYS AGO. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 400 MILES ON IT, I'VE PURCHASED IT NEW. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE MIGHT STALL ON THE HIGHWAY AND I'M CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY WITH THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE DIES AT STOP LIGHT WHILE IDLING AND HAS TO BE RESTARTED MANUALLY.
ENGINE STALLING ON NEW VEHICLE. TWO EVENTS OCCURRED IN ONE NIGHT, 7/23/2019, WITH ABOUT 790 AND 801 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IN BOTH CASES, THE CLUTCH WAS DISENGAGED WHILE BRAKING AND SLOWING TO APPROACH A TURN. THE ENGINE WAS UNDER NO LOAD AND SHOULD HAVE RETURNED TO IDLE WHEN I DISENGAGED THE CLUTCH. ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND HAD TO BE RE-STARTED VIA THE STARTER BUTTON. MY VEHICLE IS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA GLI, 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND 2.0 LITER TURBO ENGINE.

THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE OR DIAGNOSE THE MALFUNCTION BECAUSE IT'S OCCURRENCE IS INTERMITTENT AND THERE ARE NO CODES LEFT IN THE ECM OR TCM.
BRAKES ARE MAKING A PULSATING SOUND FROM WHEN IT WAS AT 20000 MILES , HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THE CAR FROM DAY 3 OF OWNING IT . VOLKSWAGEN REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK SAYING THATS NOT A VALID COMPLAINT.. ENGINE MAKES A RUMBLING OR A GRINDING SOUND WHEN IT IS AT 35-40MPH ! CAR LOOSES TIRE PRESSURE EVERY WEEK. WHEN GOING THROUGHT EVEN A MINOR POTHOLE IT FEELS AS IF THE STRUTS WERE RAMMED ON THE ROAD !! INSUFFICIENT LIGHTING ! DRIVES ALMOST LIKE A BULL ! FEELS LIKE ITS JUST DRAGGING ITSELF .... AWFUL TO THE CORE ! SEAT FRAME HAS BEEN CHANGED ONCE BEFORE IN 3 MONTHS 2DAYS OF OWNING MY CAR AND IT HAS STARTED TO SHAKE AGAIN BUT WAS IGNORED BY THE DEALERSHIP! AND ALL THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHEN ON HIGHWAY AND CITY! CAR MAKES VIBRATING SOUNDS BUT IGNORED BY THW DEALERSHIP
ON MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION GLI, THE ENGINE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT A COMPLETE STOP, AT WALKING SPEED, AND ONCE AROUND 10MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL COMPLETELY DEPRESSED WITH THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR, AND HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE IDLING IN NEUTRAL WITH FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE CLUTCH. IT IS NOT A HARD STALL LIKE LEARNING TO DRIVE STICK. IT JUST STRUGGLES AND SOFTLY DIES OUT. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR WILL TEND TO DISPLAY THE WRONG GEAR, PARTICULARLY WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE RPMS ARE SOMETIMES AFFECTED SIMPLY BY PUSHING IN AND LETTING OUT THE CLUTCH. I FIRST NOTICED THIS PARKED IN MY LEVEL CARPORT. WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PUSHING IN AND LETTING THE CLUTCH OUT WILL RESULT IN A BRIEF SLIGHT RPM SPIKE. ON OTHER OCCASIONS IT IS COMPLETELY ABSENT LIKE NORMAL OPERATION. I CLASSIFIED THIS AS POWER TRAIN, BUT IT COULD BE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, ETC.
NHTSA: THIS CAR HAS WIDE SCALE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN A WRECK OVER IT. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO INVESTIGATIONS. I TRIED OPENING AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS AND GOT BACK A WEIRD AND DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE FROM THIS DEPARTMENT. AS A TAX PAYER, I THINK IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HOLD VW ACCOUNTABLE FOR FRAUD AND MAKE THEM FIX THIS MESS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED! WE PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM STEVE WHITE VW IN GREENVILLE, SC AND THEY ARE COMMITTING FRAUD WITH VW TO HIDE THIS FROM CONSUMERS BY SAYING SCRAPING TRANSMISSIONS ON BRAND NEW CARS ARE NORMAL. THE DOCUMENT FROM OCTOBER 26TH ON MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS IS PROOF THEY ARE PLAYING GAMES AND THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! THERE'S ALREADY A CLASS ACTION FILED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM NATION WIDE.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GRINDING, BOGGING, SHAKING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN LETTING OFF THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS AND THE CAR SHAKES. HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 25-50MPH.
2019 R LINE JETTA WAS ORIGINALLY MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AT 1500 RPM. NOW I JUST GOT A CHECK OIL LEVEL NOTIFICATION ON MY DASH. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 7,000 MILES.
GRINDING SOUND AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN SHIFTING UP. AUTOMATIC 8 SPEED R-LINE. SOUND TENDS NOT TO HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN "SPORT MODE". VW DEALERSHIPS SAY THEY DON'T HEAR ANYTHING BUT EVERYONE I KNOW DOES AND EVERYONE ON LINE HAS THE ISSUE TOO. VW NOT ACKNOWLEDGING IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS UP TO 40 OR SO MINES OR WHEN SHIFTING. CONCERNING NOISE.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAVE GROANING AND GROWLING SOUNDS AT GEAR 4,5, AND 7. VERY LOUD AT TIMES. ALSO THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME HESITATION TO ACCELERATE. VW KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IS DOING NOTHING. MOREOVER, VW KNOWS IT'S THE TORQUE CONVERTER AS THEY SENT OUT A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO UNSOLD JETTA'S TO DEALERS BUT AREN'T DOING ANYTHING TO ALREADY SOLD JETTAS. ONLY SAYING THESE NOISES ARE NORMAL. THIS DEFECTIVE CONVERTER IS ON HUNDREDS OR EVEN THOUSANDS OF JETTA AND EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S DANGEROUS AND A SAFETY ISSUE.AND DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION
JETTA 2019 MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN PUTTING THE GEAR ON REVERSE(MANUAL CAR). EVEN IF STATIONERY FOR MORE THAN 3 SECONDS IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE ON THE CAR THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS HIDING FROM ME. I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR KNOWING ITS DEFECTIVE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. COOK VOLKSWAGEN (2110 BELAIR RD, FALLSTON, MD 21047, (410) 401-8684) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
THE PROBLEM IS WITH MY 2019 MANUAL TRANSMISSION GLI. EVEN WHEN THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED, (FOOT ON THE CLUTCH) AND THE CAR IS COMING TO A HALT, THE CAR STOPS/STALLS. THIS ISSUE OCCURS RANDOMLY, BUT ONCE IT STARTS, IT KEEPS HAPPENING, UNTIL RANDOMLY THE ISSUE STOPS SHOWING UP. BECAUSE OF THE APPARENT RANDOMNESS OF WHEN THE ISSUE SHOWS UP, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONVINCE THE SERVICE FOLKS.
I PURCHASED A NEW JETTA 2019 ON 05.31.2019 AND STARTED NOTICING A TRANSMISSION NOISE (SCRAPING OR SCRATCHING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS AT LOW SPEED) SOON AFTER. FIRST APPT TO DEALER ON 06.13.19 AND THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 4 DAYS. ON 06.17.19 SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT VEHICLE'S NOISE IS NORMAL. I MADE AN APPT AND ANOTHER DEALER FOR 06.19.19 (TODAY). DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE SOUND HOWEVER THEY ARE UNABLE TO COVER TRANSMISSION NOISE BECAUSE VW USA ISSUED "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN / TECH TIP" ON 04.18.19 (TRANSACTION NO. 205788/4) RECOMMENDING "NO FURTHER REPAIRS". NOW CUSTOMERS ARE LEFT TO DEAL WITH ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION SOUNDS WHEN DRIVING AND UNABLE TO FIX THEM UNDER WARRANTY. KEEPING IN MIND THAT I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE 7 YEAR / 72K MILES WARRANTY. I CAN HONESTLY SHARE WITH YOU THAT THIS HAS BEEN THE WORSE PURCHASE I'VE MADE.
"HILL HOLD ASSIST" DOES NOT DISENGAGE QUICKLY IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES WHEN STOPPED FACING UP AN INCLINE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO EITHER STALL THE VEHICLE POTENTIALLY IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS OR BURN THE CLUTCH WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING CAUSING PREMATURE CLUTCH WEAR. OFTEN TIRES SPIN ONCE THE BRAKE IS RELEASED CAUSING PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. THIS COULD EASILY BE SOLVED WITH SOFTWARE UPGRADES ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE AND/OR REFINING THE RELEASE TO BE MORE INSTANTANEOUS.
When vehicle is at a stop and then goes to accelerate, between 25 and 30MPH there is a low growl from the engine area and a lag in acceleration and a drop in power, which has proved dangerous when trying to avoid a collision when someone ran a stop sign and I had to try and hurry through to avoid being hit. Sometimes if foot is not on accelerator letting the vehicle coast and then reapplied with vehicle going a decent speed there is also a jumping/jerking motion. Also, the blind spot censor illuminates when nothing is present.
MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION-EQUIPPED 2019 JETTA GLI (2.0T) STALLS AT SLOW SPEEDS AND AT STOP LIGHTS DESPITE THE CLUTCH PEDAL FULLY ENGAGED ("TO THE FLOOR") OR THE VEHICLE COASTING IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND IN TWO OF THOSE DAYS, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH CITY STREETS AND AT STOP LIGHTS. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPEN AT APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WITH THE SECOND AT AROUND 120 MILES. THE VEHICLE SHOWED NO PREEMPTIVE SIGNS OF A STALL, AND NECESSITATED A FULL RE-IGNTIION OF THE ENGINE IN ORDER TO PROCEED OUT OF TRAFFIC. A QUICK SEARCH OF "2019 JETTA GLI/GTI STALLING ISSUE" RETURNS A LARGE LIST OF IDENTICAL OCCURRENCES WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS IN 2019-BUILT ENGINES/DRIVETRAINS.
ENGINE ON MANUAL TRANSMISSION REPEATEDLY SHUTS OFF WHEN COMING TO STOP WITH CLUTCH PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE AUTO-SHUTOFF FEATURE IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, BUT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH MANUAL. CAR MUST THEN BE RESTARTED WITH PUSH BUTTON START. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC.
AT COMPLETE STOPS (6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION) OCCASIONALLY THE ENGINE STOPS. IT HAS HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES WHILE IN TRAFFIC. ENGINE TURNS OFF BUT EVERYTHING ELECTRONIC IS STILL OPERATING. WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND LIGHT TURNED GREEN. ENGINE TURNED OFF AND HAD TO START THE VEHICLE UP IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
TRANSMISSION ISSUE LOW SPEED LOSS TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE
VEHICLE IS RANDOMLY STALLING WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR, IF THE CLUTCH IS FULLY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, OR IF THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS TURNED ON. THE VEHICLE IS EITHER SLOWING TO A STOP OR HAS COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN THE DRIVEWAY. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
UPON ACCESSING THE TRUNK, I HAVE BEEN STRUCK ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE THE TRUNK LID DOES NOT STAY UP UPON OPENING. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS DESIGN FLAW WAS CORRECTED AFTER A CERTAIN MANUFACTURER DATE, BUT I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALER WHO DID NOTHING ABOUT IT AND SAID THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT.
2019 JETTAS WITH A PRODUCTION DATE BEFORE JANUARY 2019 HAVE TRUNK LIDS THAT NEED TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY BACK OR YOU RISK HAVING THE TRUNK LID FALL ON YOUR HEAD CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN SHIFT GEAR AT LOW SPEED.
WHILE IN NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE SHUDDERED A LITTLE AND THEN CUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. MOST RECENTLY I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR.
AROUND 35 MPH, I HEAR A GRINDING NOISE (NOT EXACTLY SURE WHERE IT'S COMING FROM). I DID CALL THE DEALERSHIP BUT WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. SEEMS LIKE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE.
WHILE EITHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, AND NO MATTER WHERE THE VEHICLE IS, THERE IS A PRONOUNCED RATTLING THAT COMES FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, AND OCCASIONALLY FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE AS WELL, WHEN THE RADIO IS TURNED UP TO AN ENJOYABLE VOLUME. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS IT'S A RATHER IRRITATING PHENOMENON THAT DISTRACTS THE DRIVER WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I SUSPECT THIS RATTLING IS DUE TO A LACK OF SOUND DEADENING OR OTHER FORM OF NOISE INSULATION INSIDE THE DOORS. THIS NOTION IS FURTHER SUPPORTED BY CONSIDERABLE ROAD NOISE CAUSED BY THE APPARENT LACK OF SOUND INSULATION IN THE FLOORS AS WELL.
THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT SYSTEM THAT SWITCHES ON THE HEADLIGHTS UNDER CONDITIONS OF DARKNESS. HOWEVER, THE CAR HAS NO PROVISION TO PROVIDE THE DRIVER WITH FEEDBACK AS TO WHETHER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ACTUALLY ON OR OFF AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. THIS LEAVES THE DRIVER UNINFORMED. THE DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING HEADLIGHTS ON TO COMPLY WITH LOCAL LAWS, BUT THE CAR DOES NOT PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO THE DRIVER AS TO WHETHER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ACTUALLY ON OR OFF. THIS DEFICIENCY SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. THIS IS AS YET UNRELATED TO A SPECIFIC INCIDENT.

CHECK OIL LEVEL LIGHT/WARNING BELL CAME ON. LET THE CAR COOL, WENT OUT TO CHECK THE OIL WITH THE DIPSTICK, WAS VERY LITTLE OIL IN THERE !WENT TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE , CHECKED IT AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THE OIL WAS BACK. CAR WAS OK FOR 2 DAYS THEN LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN.
SINCE DAY ONE CAR IS SHAKING LIKE A BOAT, WHEN I DRIVE IT ON A HIGHWAY MAKING IT NOT STABLE. BRAKES SQUEAK AND I SEE SIGNS ON THE BRAKE DISK.I AM WITH THE ORIGINAL BRAKES. CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN WHEN I PARK. WHEN I SWITCH AGAIN TO DRIVE, IT IS COMPLETELY OFF FROM ITSELF, KEY IS INSIDE AND I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND THEN START THE CAR AGAIN. AIR CONDITION IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY VW SAID THEY HAVE BETTER 8 ZONES AIR CONDITION. I HAD OIL LAMP AROUND 5000-6000 MILES THEY SAID THAT THE CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEMS TILL 10 000 MILES. I HAVE PROBLEMS ACCELERATING, I AM LOOSING POWER. I HAVE GRINDING SCRAPING NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO TRANSMISSION JUMPS WHEN I DRIVE, SLOW RESPONSE. THE ENGINE IS GIVING ME LAG WHEN I AM AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, VIBRATION AND SHAKING. I MAKE MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA TO TOW AND FIX MY CAR THAT I LEASED. I EXPLAIN THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. I AM NOT FEELING SAFE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. IT'S BEEN MORE THAN HALF YEAR AND NOT ONE PROBLEM IS FIXED.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS GROUND GOING INTO REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE JETTA'S. WHILE DRIVING, I WILL PUT IT INTO 1ST GEAR AND START MOVING, AND THEN IT WILL EITHER GET "STUCK" INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR, I CAN TAKE IT OUT OF GEAR BUT CANNOT ENGAGE ANOTHER GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN SMELL THE CLUTCH BURNING. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASSURED ME MY TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH WERE FINE. DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, ONLY ABOUT ONCE A MONTH AND IT HAPPENS IN VARYING WEATHER CONDITIONS. NO TWO TIMES WERE THE CONDITIONS THE SAME. I HAVE NOT CHANGED MY DRIVING, I AM NOT HARD ON MY VEHICLES. MY 2014 FIESTA ST HAD THE STOCK TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH UNTIL I SOLD IT IN 2019, NEVER SLIPPED OR GROUND INTO GEARS, ALONG WITH MY 6 OTHER MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES I'VE OWNED. I FEEL LIKE VOLKSWAGEN JUST DOESN'T WANT TO FIX THEIR TERRIBLE TRANSMISSIONS AND CLUTCHES AND TRIES TO BLAME IT ON USER ERROR.
THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DISPLAYS A MESSAGE SAYING 'OPERATING OUTSIDE OF NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE' WHEN THE HEATER IS RUNNING, AND SHUTS OFF DISABLING ANY FUNCTIONALITY. INCLUDING BACK UP CAMERA, WHICH HAS PERSONALLY CAUSED ME TO BACK INTO A POLE AS I WAS MID REVERSAL WHEN IT SHUT OFF. IT HAPPENS WHEN MOVING OR STATIONARY. HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CAPTURE IMAGES, HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE.
WHILE ACCELERATING, A DISTINCT GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE IS CONSISTENTLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. MY VEHICLE IS ROUGHLY 5 MONTHS OFF THE LOT AND HAS LESS THAN 10K MILES, SO THIS NOISE IS VERY CONCERNING. THIRD PARTY MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS A HAZARD FOR THE TRANSMISSION, AND HAVE ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO VOLKSWAGEN FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR. BOTH THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE NOTIFIED ME THE GRINDING NOISE IS NORMAL AND OF NO CONCERN. HOWEVER, A SOFTWARE PATCH IS AVAILABLE TO "FIX" THE "NON-ISSUE". VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO NOTIFIED ME THE PATCH DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE GRINDING NOISE. WHEN I PRESSED FURTHER, CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTIFIED ME THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS AND "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO AT THIS TIME TO FIX IT." THE DEALERSHIP ALSO CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS PRESENT IN OTHER 2019 JETTAS ON THEIR LOT, WHICH IS WHY THEY SAID THE NOISE IS NORMAL FOR MY VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE VW HAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH ALL 2019 JETTAS, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW AND/OR REFUSE TO FIX IT.
I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON RECALL 19V188 - REAR AXLE COIL SPRINGS. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL VIA THE LOCAL NEWS STATION AND WAS DIRECTED TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE, WHERE I LOOKED UP THE VIN ON MY CAR AND CONFIRMED THE RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK WITH IF THEY HAD THE PART AND WHEN IT COULD BE REPLACED. 4 DAYS LATER (TODAY) I GET THE CALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. THIS UPSET ME BECAUSE IT IS A SERIOUS REPLACEMENT. I DRIVE 500 MILES TO WORK ON THE INTERSTATE A WEEK! THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR, ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD, WITH A $450 A MONTH PRICE TAG (THE WHOLE PRIORITY FOR LIFE). I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS BROUGHT AND WAS TOLD THAT CARS GET RECALLS ALL THE TIME AND THAT THIS WASN'T A BIG DEAL. THOUGH THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL THEY COULD GET THE PARTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS HIGHWAY RISK AND AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE, FROM A MANUFACTURER THAT CLAIMS TO ALWAYS HAVE YOUR BACK!!!!!!! I COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF WITH A USED VEHICLE. I'M GUESSING THE MANUFACTURER IS OK WITH UNSAFE VEHICLES BEING OUT ON THE ROADWAY. LIKE MANY OTHERS SAID IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT FOR ME. I HOPE VW WILL TAKE ACTION AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. ON TOP OF THAT I LOST ALL MY RADIO PRESETS AND THE SCREEN HAS STARTED TO FREEZE. I ALSO NOTICE A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE REAR SUSPENSION OVER NORMAL BUMPS.
WHEN ACCELERATING A GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION BETWEEN 25 MPH & 35 MPH THE CAR FEELS IRRESPONSIVE. THERE IS AN UPDATE THAT FIXES THE ISSUE BUT IT'S ONLY BEING APPLIED TO 'UNSOLD' UNITS.
ALL SENSORS INCLUDING AIRBAG AND ABS REPORTED ERRORS. VW REPRESENTATIVE OVER THE PHONE SAID IT DOES NOT SOUND SAFE TO DRIVE. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED NO ISSUES FOUND WITH THE VEHICLE. RATTLING SOUND WHICH IS PERSISTENT AFTER VW INSTALLED A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING GEARS. WHILE THE ENGINE RUNNING AND CHANGED FROM PARK TO REVERSE, THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A POLE WHICH STOPPED IT FROM MOVING FORWARD WHILE IN REVERSE. ALL PHOTO AND VIDEO DOCUMENTED. VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS THIS PROOF DOES NOT MATTER BECAUSE 'THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO A RESIDUE FROM MANUFACTURING ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO REMOVE, AND THE ISSUE IS STILL PERSISTENT. THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD OR ADMIT THE PROBLEM IS FROM MANUFACTURING. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND CONTINUED TO BE TOLD 'NOTHING IS WRONG' AND MY DOCUMENTED PROOF 'DOES NOT MATTER'.
