TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A GLITCH ACROSS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE DUE TO THE REMEDY NOT BEING AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL BACK IN A FEW WEEKS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I CONTACTED THE VOLKSWAGEN HEADQUARTERS CONCERNING A RECALL NOTICE FOR, A FUEL PUMP MODULE AND WAS INFORMED THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL THIS PART COULD RESULT INTERRUPTION OF ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP, DRAINED BATTERY, FUEL PUMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY AND LOSS OF POWER WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION RESULTING IN POSSIBLE INJURY OR CRASH. I AM ALREADY EXPERIENCING TROUBLE WITH DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE COMPANY SUGGESTED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND I WOULD BE REIMBURSED. I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO DUE THAT MONETARILY. I BELIEVE THE COMPANY SHOULD PROVIDE A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT UNTIL THIS MATTE IS RESOLVED. THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, THE FIRST WAS AIRBAGS WHICH WAS REPLACED, THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE CONCERNING THIS MATTER.
LATE SEPTEMBER 2017 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF IN MY 2007 PASSAT WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. I TOOK THE PASSAT IN FOR A REPAIR THE FOLLOWING DAY, AND THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS REPAIRED, AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON, LESS THAN 100 YARDS AWAY. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR, AFTER THE REPAIR, OTHER THAN TO MY DRIVE WAY, LESS THAN 5 MILES AWAY. WHILE WE WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DAY, LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, OCTOBER 12, 2017, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL, THAT WHAT I HAD JUST REPAIRED WAS A RECALL, AND SAFETY ISSUE. WE CALLED THE SHOP, AND THEY INFORMED US THAT SINCE IT WAS A RECALL TO WAIT FOR VW TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS WITH VW CORPORATE OFFICE, AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS WHO HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING THE REPAIR, I FINALLY GOT A HOLD OF SOMEONE THAT WAS KIND ENOUGH TO LISTEN. SHE MADE A PHONE CALL TO HAVE OUR CAR LOOKED AT, THE CLOSEST VW DEALERSHIP AND WE HAD IT TOWED IN ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL US THERE WERE SEVERAL ISSUE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. SO WE CALLED OUR LOCAL VW CERTIFIED MECHANIC, TO VERIFY THE ISSUES, SINCE HE HAD JUST SEEN IT, AND HE INFORMED THAT NONE OF WHAT THEY WERE TELLING US WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. WE THEN HAD IT TOWED BACK TO OUR MECHANIC LOCALLY, AND HE LOOKED AT THE CAR AGAIN. SINCE WE HAD BEEN OUT OUR SECOND VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS, WE ASKED HIM TO FIX IT SO WE COULD AGAIN USE IT. THE MECHANIC HAD THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS, WHEN HE THOUGHT IT WAS REPAIRED, HE WOULD FIND MORE ISSUES. AFTER AT LEAST THREE PHONE CALLS OF MORE ISSUES, IT WAS REPAIRED, WITH A HEFTY BILL, OF NEAR 2K DOLLARS, ONTOP OF THE OVER 2K WE PUT IN TO REPLACE THE RECALL A MONTH EARLIER. I DECIDED TO TRADE IN MY CAR AS I NEEDED SOMETHING RELIABLE AND SAFE.I HAVE BEEN CHECKING ON LINE SINCE OCTOBER 2017 FOR REPAIR REMEDIES, OF WHICH THREE IS NONE, AS OF 1/11/18.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEARS AND HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DIRIRO BROTHERS WALNUT CREEK VOLKSWAGEN (2020 N MAIN ST, WALNUT CREEK, CA 94596 (925) 934-8224) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
I HAVE HAD MY CV BOOTS REPLACED IN 2013 ON THE LEFT SIDE AND THEN AGAIN ON JANUARY 2016. I HAD MY VEHICLE LOOKED AT ON 9/15/17 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SAME BOOT HAS A TEAR IN IT AND NEEDS REPLACING.

THERE IS AN OUTSTANDING SAFETY RECALL THAT OPENED 08-16-2017 INVOLVING THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. VOLKSWAGEN SAYS A REPAIR IS NOT YET AVAILABLE - AFTER NINE MONTHS! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK IS DEFECTIVE IT WILL NOT START IF IT STARTS IT STALLS OUT LOCKS UP CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY
THE LID FOR THE FUEL TANK WHICH CONTAINS THE VEHICLE FUEL FILTER IS CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING PRESSURIZED FUEL UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER REAR SEAT ANY TIME THE KEY WAS ON. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT VOLKSWAGEN HAS ISSUED RECALL 20Z4 FOR TOUAREG MODEL VEHICLES. THE FIRST SYMPTOM I NOTICED WAS THE CAR HAD TO BE CRANKED FOR ONLY A SECOND OR TWO LONGER FOR THE ENGINE TO START. AFTER ABOUT 3 DAYS OF EXPERIENCING A MINOR SHORT CRANK I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING STRUCTURE AND HAD TO CRANK THE ENGINE OVER FOR ALMOST 20 SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED. THIS IS WHEN I BEGAN TO SMELL GASOLINE. I DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 2 MILES HOME AND REMOVED THE REAR SEAT AND FUEL PUMP ACCESS PANEL AND FOUND THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK COVERED IN FUEL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED MY DIAGNOSIS OF A "FUEL FILTER FLANGE" LEAKING WHICH WAS REPLACED AND RESOLVED THE FUEL LEAK AND PROLONGED CRANK.
THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS PROVIDE EXTREMELY POOR LIGHTING RESULTING IN VERY POOR VISIBILITY AND CREATING A CONCERNING UNSAFE NIGHT DRIVING. THE FRONT PROJECTOR HEADLAMPS FIXTURE INSTALLED IN THIS MODEL ARE VERY POOR AND CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING, I HAVE TRIED TO UPGRADE THE LAMPS BUT THERE IS NOT IMPROVEMENT. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RECALLED FROM THE MANUFACTURER, IT IS A LIFE SAFETY MATTER. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU.
TAKATA TECALL I HAVE CONTACTED VW TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR FOR MY TAKATA AIRBAGS NUMEROUS TIMES, AND FOR MONTHS THEY HAVE STALLED ME, GIVING ME NO ANSWERS, AND NO REPAIRS. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THAT I CAN TO TRY AND GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED TO SAFETY, BUT VW REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH THE RECALL.

THE MANUFACTURER SENT SOME PAPERWORK TO THE CONTACT THAT NEEDED TO BE COMPLETED FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.

TAKATA RECALL I CONTACTED ALL LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL AND WAS INFORMED PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER. I UNDERSTAND THE OVERWHELMING IMPACT THIS IS CREATING (PRODUCTION/DELIVERY/INSTALLATION) HOWEVER I INQUIRED AS TO WHETHER THERE IS ANY WAY TO DEACTIVATE OR TURN OFF THE AIRBAG IN THE MEANTIME (3+ MOS) AND WAS INFORMED THERE ISN'T A WAY TO DO SO. NOW I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR. IS THERE NO TEMPORARY "FIX" TO PREVENT FROM THE AIRBAG BEING DEPLOYED AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH?
ON A TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY IN EARLY JUNE 2017, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM ABOUT 20 MILES/H TO 40 MILES/HOUR ON BRADDOCK ROAD EASTBOUND WHILE ON ITS BRIDGE CROSSING THE CAPITAL BELTWAY (I-495 IN VA) WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JOLTED FORWARD. NO OTHER INDICATORS WENT ON AT THE TIME, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE NEXT TIME I STARTED THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO VW OF FREDERICKSBURG (VA) FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. AT THE TIME, IT WAS ON ITS FIRST REPLACEMENT LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP/CONTROL MODULE SET THAT WAS INSTALLED AT PRIORITY VW OF CHESTER, VA, IN LATE SEPTEMBER 2014. REPLICATION OF THE JUNE 2017 PROBLEM TOOK JUST A DAY IN THE SHOP, BUT DIAGNOSING THE CORE ISSUE AND REPLACING THE ASSOCIATED PARTS TOOK ANOTHER 5 WEEKS. THE FUEL PUMP AND CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED UNDER ANOTHER RECALL, PLUS A PORTION OF THE 1ST REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP LODGED IN THE FUEL LINE RUNNING FROM THE FUEL TANK TO THE ENGINE. THAT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF SEVERAL FUEL LINES AND ASSOCIATED FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS. THE RELEVANT PORTION OF THE FINAL BILL TOTALED OVER $2000. THE $470 PORTION COVERING THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND ITS CONTROL MODULE WERE TAKEN CARE OF BY VW OF AMERICA, BUT THE $1500-1600 PORTION COVERING THE REST OF THE FUELING SYSTEM WAS NOT.
VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 2007 PASSAT WATER LEAK FOOTWELL THAT CAUSES PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DAMAGED : SUDDENLY AFTER A RAINY DAY, WATER COMES FROM SUNROOF TO THE PASSENGER SIDE FOOTWELL AND MADE CARPET WET AND STORES WATER BELOW THE CARPET. THAT CAUSED PASSENGER SIDE 'S AIRBAG MALFUNCTION RESULTS IN AIRBAG FAULT. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT HAPPENS WITH SOME VW CARS AND PLEASE GET YOUR CAR CHECKED FOR WATER LEAK. THEY TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR NEITHER THE AIRBAG NOR THE WATER LEAK. I BELIEVE THERE WAS TOO MUCH WATER BELOW THE CARPET WHICH DIRECTLY PUTS THE INTEGRITY OF THE SAFETY IN DANGER SINCE IT THE ELECTRONIC PARTS AND WIRES WERE IN WATER FOR LONG TIME.
FIRST OF ALL THE TEKATA AIRBAGS ARE A RECALL. THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. IT ALL STARTED WOH PHEN THE FUEL PUMP MODULES FAILED AND THE CAR WOULD TURN ON BUT TURN RIGHT OFF AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP MODULES WHEN I HAD IT DIAGNOSED. NOW IT LEAKS OUT A LOT OF GAS IN FOUR DIFFERENT SPOTS UNDER THE CAR ON PASSENGERS SIDE. WHEN WE PARKED THE CAR WE STARTED NOTICING THIS 4 MONTHS AGO.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WENT FROM BEING OKAY -- TO NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE TO FASTER THAN 20 MILES PER HOUR AND RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH. I WAS ON A BUSY STREET AND THIS WAS QUITE FRIGHTENING. TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND AFTER $1600 OF OTHER REPAIRS WITH NO RESULT HE FINALLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE TIMING BELT SLIPPING DUE TO A FAULTY OIL PUMP BOLT. APPARENTLY THIS OIL PUMP BOLT IS FAILING ON LOTS OF PASSAT 3.6 VORTEX ENGINE AND SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL -- SINCE THE FIX IS A RIDICULOUSLY HIGH AMOUNT. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO FIX THIS VEHICLE AND WILL BE PAYING FOR A CAR I CAN'T DRIVE.

TAKATA RECALL - CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN (BOBBY BECK'S LEWISVILLE VOLKSWAGEN) & THEY STATED THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT PART FOR 69M8, MEANING THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN ORDER TO CARRY OUT THE REPLACEMENT & HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION, INCLUDING IF & WHEN THAT WILL CHANGE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY FAMILY USING THIS VEHICLE, HOW & WHEN WILL THIS DEFECT BE RECTIFIED? WHEN WILL VOLKSWAGEN BE ABLE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART?

REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE AFTER MANY MONTHS OF BEING TOLD BY THE LOCAL DEALER THAT THE PART WAS NOT READY, I CONTACTED VW OF AMERICA IN DECEMBER 2016 AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NO PLANS FOR MAKING THIS REMEDY INFLATOR AVAILABLE AND DID NOT FORESEE EVER HAVING THIS PART MANUFACTURED IN THE NEAR OR DISTANT FUTURE AND THEREFORE COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ESTIMATED DATE OF AVAILABILITY. TAKATA RECALL NHTSA RECALL #16V079 STILL HAS NO FIX AVAILABLE FROM VOLKSWAGEN. THE START OF THIS RECALL WAS FEB. 9, 2016. IN NEARLY 10 MONTHS NO FIX HAS BEEN PROVIDED. THE CONCERNING PART IS THE POTENTIAL RESULT IN DEATH OF A LIFE SAVING AIRBAG ACTUALLY DEPLOYING. THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT AN AIRBAG SHOULD DO. "IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS" VW AND TAKATA NEED TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEFECT WARNING ON MY DASH AND THE CAR OFTEN WILL NOT START WITHOUT REPEATED ATTEMPTS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON AND VERY EXPENSIVE DEFECT WITH PASSATS AND THE VW PASSAT BLOGS ARE FULL OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS DEFECT. I CONTACTED VW AND THEY WERE NO HELP. THE REP OFFERED HER SYMPATHY BUT NOTHING AS FAR AS VW TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THIS DEFECT CAN RESULT IN STEERING WHEELS LOCKING WHILE DRIVING, ENGINES CUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING, AND THE CAR NOT STARTING LEAVING DRIVERS STRANDED. I WILL BE DELIVERING THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL VW AGENCY FOR REPAIR AND REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA REQUIRE VW TO REIMBURSE ALL PASSAT OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL RELATED EXPENSES TO CORRECT THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT. *TR
CURRENTLY MY 2.0T 4 CYLINDER ENGINE IS EXPERIENCING FAILURES NOTED BY THE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM WITH FAULT CODE P2181 COOLING SYSTEM PERFORMANCE ALONG WITH A CYLINDER 1 AND CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE. THE SUGGESTED REMEDY FOR THE P2181 ERROR IS TO REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT AND/OR THE WATER PUMP. IN RESEARCHING COMMUNITY FORUMS, THIS PAIRING OF ISSUES APPEARS WIDESPREAD. THERE IS A POSSIBLE MANUFACTURING DESIGN FLAW THAT CORRELATES THE FAILURE OF ENGINE COILS AND/OR PLUGS WITH FAILURE OF THE WATER PUMP AS THE WATER PUMP IS DRIVEN BY THE TIMING BELT. FURTHERMORE, THE FUNCTIONS ARE LINKED IN THIS WAY ALLOWING ONE TO CAUSE THE OTHER TO FAIL. THIS IS EVIDENT WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT ALL TIMES AND WHILE DRIVING THE MISFIRE WILL OCCUR BETWEEN 2000-3000 RPM AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO JERK AND STUTTER. THE MISFIRE CAUSES LOSS OF POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES.
TAKATA RECALL THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DOESN'T WORK ACCORDING TO MY LENDING BANK. I FOUND THIS OUT WHEN I REFINANCED THROUGH THEM.

FOUR MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND STILL THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. IT IS NOT REASONABLE THAT VOLKSWAGEN DOES NOT ISSUE AN UPDATE AS TO WHEN THE REMEDY MAY BECOME AVAILABLE. CONSEQUENTLY, WE LIVE IN DAILY FEAR OF A POSSIBLE DEATH BY AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. TODAY'S NY TIMES HAS A FRONT PAGE ARTICLE DETAILING THE MONEY-BASED WRONG DECISIONS OF GM TO BUY THE TAKATA PRODUCT WHEN EXPERTS IN THE FIELD TESTIFY THAT THE AMMONIUM NITRATE USED IN THE DEVICES IS UNSTABLE OVER TIME. DEATHS AND INJURIES HAVE RESULTED. WHEN WILL WE KNOW ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF THE REPLACEMENT PARTS?

I.E., I AM DRIVING A CAR WITH A POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFAULT, WHICH IS KNOWN OF, YET THE MANUFACTURER IS EITHER UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO REMEDY ASAP? I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AND UNSURE HOW TO PROCEED.
TAKATA RECALL. THERE IS NO TIMELINE FOR FIXING THE AIRBAG IN THIS CAR. I CAN'T DRIVE IT AND I CAN'T SELL IT. IT WAS RECALLED IN FEB 2016 AND THERE IS STILL NO TIMELINE FOR REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS AIRBAG NEEDS TO GET THESE FIXED.
PURCHASED A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT IN 2013 FROM CURRY HONDA DEALERSHIP ON PEACHTREE IND BLVD AND THEY TOOK IT TO VOLKSWAGEN DEALER TO GET CERTIFIED AND INSPECTED / VOLKSWAGEN FOUND 5 RECALLS THEY SAID THEY UPDATED, BUT 2 YRS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON ....THE SENSOR WAS BAD WHICH WAS FOUND IN THE ENGINE UPON DIAGNOSE. VOLKSWAGEN DEALER WOULD NOT FIX IT ON COBB PKWY AND DID NOT LOG IT AS AN ISSUE. I WAS UNABLE TO GET EMISSION INSPECTION YEAR TO YEAR AND FINALLY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GIVE IT BACK TO THE BANK / CAPTIOL ONE. CURRY HONDA REFUSED TO FIX OR TAKE THE CAR BACK.
THIS CAR IS OUT RIGHT DANGEROUS.MY WIFE IS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY 70 MILES AN HOUR THE EMERGENCY BRAKES COME ON TO HER SURPRISE AND LOCK UP.THANK GOODNESS IS WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE OFFSIDE WITHOUT INCIDENT.IT SEEMS THIS A COMMON THING WITH THIS MODEL, THE GAS PEDAL ALSO CUTS IN AND OUT UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK VIOLENTLY IN TRAFFIC. AFTER CONTACTING VOLKSWAGEN, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A U.S. SPEC. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT PREVIOUS RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SATISFIED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
