TAKATA RECALL - AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON - I HAVE 2 AIRBAG ISSUES AND HAVE ASKED VW TO ASSIST WITH RENTAL CAR AS LONG AS THEY CANNOT REMEDY A NEW TAKATA AIR BAG, AND DEALER INFORMS IT WILL BE MONTHS. CONTACTED THE DEALER AND VW AMERICA SEVERAL TIMES FOR ASSISTANCE FOR TEMPORARY CAR REPLACEMENT IF THEY CANNOT FIX THE TAKATA AIRBAG, VW AMERICA CALL CENTER DOES NOT HELP AND THEIR SERVICE CENTER IS SNEAKY TO RING MY CELL NO AND LEAVE NO MESSAGE TO DOCUMENT A RECORD OF CUST SERVIC- WITH NO SOLUTION. YET DEALER DID SAY ANOTHER CUSTOMER ASKED FOR RE-IMBURSEMENTS OF RENTAL CAR AND NOW VW REFUSES TO WORK WITH CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE RENTED CARS, THE PROBLEM HAS LEFT ME OUT OF POCKET FOR HUNDRED OF DOLLARS. ACCORDING TO VW AMERICA THEY DO NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ' THAT IS THEIR DECISION NOT TO HELP CUSTOMERS MANUFACTURE NEEDS TO PROVIDE. THIS IS COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE ON BEHALF OF VW AMERICA. HONDA IS COVERING THEIR CUSTOMERS.

I'M IN ZONE A (OR 1), TEXAS AND MY CAR IS A 2007, 9 YEARS OLD AND WITHIN THE RANGE THAT I'VE SEEN STATED HIGH RISK BUT MY CAR ISN'T LISTED IN ANY OF THE PRIORITY GROUPS FOR REPAIR. ACCORDING TO THIS, PRIORITY GROUP 1 IS VEHICLES FROM MODEL YEARS 2008 OR OLDER THAT HAVE SPENT TIME IN A HIGH ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY REGION AND HAVE EITHER A RECALLED DRIVER-SIDE INFLATOR OR RECALLED INFLATORS ON BOTH SIDES. "TAKATA RECALL" MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AND REMAINS ON. UPON GOING TO A VW DEALERSHIP...I WAS TOLD "YA THAT MEANS THE AIR WON'T DEFLATE IF YOU WERE IN AN ACCIDENT". THEY NEVER WENT INTO THE CAR! I WAS TOLD FOR THEM TO RUN A TEST IT WOULD COST 125.00. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING FROM A VW DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RESOLVED WITH A COST TO THE CUSTOMER. I THEN WENT ON TO A GAS STATION...THEY HAD HAND HELD DEVICE THAT COULD DETECT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. IT CAME UP AS DEFECT # 01217, SIDE AIR BAG IGNITER, DRIVERS SIDE(10199). THEY RECOMMEND TAKING IT TO CERTIFIED DEALER(WHICH I DID) AS THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR. THE GAS STATION DID NOT CHARGE ME ANYTHING. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE!
"TAKATA RECALL" EVERYTHING WAS FINE JUST ANOTHER DAY WHEN I SHUT OFF MY CAR FOR THE NIGHT ALL OF A SUDDEN MY AIRBAG LIGHT DECIDES TO STAY ON WHEN STARTING MY CAR IN THE MORNING AND AFTER WORK IT SAYS AIRBAG FAULT ON DISPLAY AND LIGHT STILL ON.
PASSENGER HEADLAMP (DIPPED LOW BEAM) IS HELD IN PLACE BY FRICTION ONLY. NEW LAMPS INSTALLED FALL OUT OF SOCKET WHILE IN USE DAYTIME RUNNING AND NIGHT TIME VISION). NEW HARDWARE WAS PURCHASED PER MANUFACTURER ILLUSTRATION, BUT THERE WAS NO PLACE TO ATTACH HARDWARE TO BACK OF LOW BEAM SOCKET. ENTIRE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY (INCLUDING HIGH BEAM AND MARKER LIGHT) HAD TO BE REPLACED.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. TOOK VEHICLE TO VOLKSWAGEN DEALER TO FIX PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE INSULATION CAME OFF THE WIRES INSIDE THE DRIVER HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE 2 EXPOSED WIRES TOUCHED AND SHORTED OUT THE CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE A HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY 3C0-941-005-AE AND CONTROL MODULE 3C8-937-049-AC REPLACED FOR THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT TO WORK.
TAKATA RECALL AIR BAG FAULT LIGHT IS ON NON-STOP, A RECALL FOR AIRBAG IS ISSUED, CONCERNED THAT IF AIRBAG DEPLOYS I WILL BE KILLED BY THE SHRAPNEL. CAR IS NOT WORTH THE REPAIR TO THE AIRBAG FAULT LIGHT, AS THE AIRBAG IT WILL DEPLOY IS DANGEROUS. VW OF USA CANNOT HELP ME. CAN'T SELL THE CAR AS IS...TOO DANGEROUS. ALSO A WANDERING ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT CAUSES DOORS TO BE UNOPENABLE FROM THE OUTSIDE...NEVER KNOW WHICH DOOR OR HOW MANY WILL NOT OPEN. TODAY IT IS THE DRIVER'S DOOR.HAVE BEEN PAYING ON IT, BUT HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT (OUT OF FEAR) SINCE AUGUST '15. I OWE $2045 ON IT...WANT VW TO BUY ME OUT AND SCRAP IT. CAR WOKE UP WITH THE AIRBAG FAULT LIGHT ONE DAY. VW USA IS VERY SORRY FOR MY PROBLEM, BUT NO FIX AVAILABLE/NO BUYOUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
