This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling specific 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2013-2016 ILX, 2013-2014 ILX Hybrid, 2003-2006 MDX, 2007-2016 RDX, 2002-2003 3.2TL, 2004-2006, and 2009-2014 TL, 2010-2013 ZDX and 2001-2007 and 2009 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid, 2001-2005 Civic GX NGV, 2002-2007 and 2010-2011 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2007 Fit, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, and 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.

The passenger side seatbelt does not latch
While highyway driving for 6 hours the “Check system charging” light came on for a few minutes, then went off for 10 or so minutes, then came back on. I was 10 miles from exit. I exited and left the car running while I checked in to motel. Drove to a parking place, turned off car engine, took a bag to room. When I came back out, flames were flaring from under the hood from battery area near fight front. The car had about 33,500 miles on it. A few weeks before, a “check battery” light had come on briefly. I took the car to dealership and told them about the battery light. I was going on a long trip so I told them to check everything. They replaced the battery and claimed to have checked the alternator, which they said was good. Even though the car only had less than 33,000 miles at that point, this was the fourth battery the car had had put in. 1) the original, 2) second put in by the same dealer, 3) a third when my battery went dead at a casino le one night. The valet charged it and I drove to an all night Autoxone where I bought a new batttery, and 4) the last one a few weeks ago. The Acura had a hard cardboard engine cover that you have to unscrew and remove to access the battery or the rest of the engine. This cover was completely burned up. The car was totaled. I believe the cardboard engine cover played a big part of the fire. Note: the fire occurred at Prescott, Arkansas. I had driven about 7 hours from Austin, Texas that day. The car was serviced in Las Vegas. I have pictures in my phone of the burned out car which I can send to you.
CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF. CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON AT ALL
THE VSA SYSTEM LIGHT IS ON THE DASHBOARD I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THE COMPUTER IS SIGNALING IS LETTING US KNOW THAT IN A CASE OF A ACCIDENT I WOULDN'T BE SAFE ALSO THE AIRBAGS ARE SHOWING AN MALFUNCTION IT WOULD NOT PROTECT ME BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY ALSO DUE TO AN ACCIDENT
WHEN PARKING MY VEHICLE ON AN INCLINE AND PLACING MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION INTO FIRST AND TURNING OFF THE CAR, WITHOUT APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE, THE CAR WOULD SLOWLY JERK BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL.
I CHANGED MY OIL AND DROVE MY VEHICLE ROUGHLY 1500 MILES IN OVER A MONTH TIMEFRAME AND I PROPERLY CHECKED MY OIL WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON LEVEL GROUND TO FIND THAT MY OIL LEVEL WAS VERY LOW. I THOROUGHLY CHECKED MY ENGINE FOR ANY OIL LEAKS AND THERE WAS NO LEAKS TO BE FOUND. THERE IS NEVER AN OIL LEAK IN MY GARAGE WHERE I PARK MY VEHICLE EVERYDAY. AT THIS POINT IT IS REASONABLE TO ASSUME THAT THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL IN SOME WAY.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION IN THIS RECALL. LOOKING OVER MY CREDIT REPORT AND IT TELLS ME THAT THERE ARE 2 RECALLS FOR THE AIRBAG INFLATORS FEBRUARY 22,2017 IN WHICH I DID NOT HAVE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL 2018. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL APRIL 19,2019 THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THIS MATTER. ACCORDING TO CREDIT REPORT THERE HAVE 0 RECALL REPAIRS. I NEED TO KNOW WHY I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED AND WHEN WILL ACTION BE TAKEN TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED AND FIXED.
ALL ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED AFTER 100K MILES *LN VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.*JB
BLUETOOTH HANDS FREE MODULE HAS AN OPEN CIRCUIT CAUSING BATTERY TO RUNDOWN PREMATURELY. ALSO KEYLESS FOB SLOT GETS WORN DOWN AND REMAINS IN STUCK OPEN POSITION NOT ALLOWING DOORS TO LOCK AS IT THINKS THE KEY IS STILL INSIDE THE SLOT.

TAKATA RECALL. CAR WAS T-BONED BY A VEHICLE PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY IN PASSENGER SIDE HARD ENOUGH TO DAMAGE BOTH DOORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND CAUSED ENOUGH FRAME DAMAGE THAT CAUSED THE FRAME TO BE PULLED AND RIGHT REAR QUARTER PANEL TO BE REPLACED FROM THE ROCKER PANEL UNDER THE RIGHT REAR DOOR TO HALFWAY DOWN THE ROOF HOWEVER THE TAKATA PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS GOING 14MPH AND HIT BY A CAR GOING APPROX 15-20MPH AND ACCELERATING.
TAKATA RECALL I AM AFRAID TO LET MY FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVE THIS CAR, BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF INJURY/DEATH, IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. HONDA IS TAKING TOO LONG TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION FOR ME.
ACURA STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE AT MY DEALERSHIP IN ASHEVILLE, NC. WHEN I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST, 2016, TO SCHEDULE MY AIRBAG REPLACEMENT, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL BACKORDERED, AND THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT ACURA/HONDA, KNOWING HOW MANY CARS ARE ON THE ROAD WITH THIS AIRBAG, HAS HAD ALL YEAR TO PRODUCE ENOUGH AIRBAGS AND THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. HOWEVER, THE MEDIA HAS ONLY REPORTED THAT THE OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AIRBAGS NOT BEING REPLACED YET. KNOWING HOW MANY DEATHS THE AIRBAGS HAVE CAUSED, ACURA SHOULD BE FORCED TO PRODUCE THE PARTS SO THAT ACURA AND HONDA OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DYING WHILE DOING THEIR DAY-TO-DAY DRIVING. IF THE NHTSA IS TRULY CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS, THEY SHOULD DO MORE TO PROTECT THEM INSTEAD OF LETTING ACURA TAKE THEIR SWEET TIME TO PRODUCE THEM AND RISKING MILLIONS OF LIVES WHILE BLAMING DRIVERS FOR NOT SCHEDULING A REPLACEMENT.

VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TABS INSIDE OF THE KEYLESS REMOTE SLOT BECOME WORN, STICK BACK AND/OR BREAK . IN ADDITION TO BEING COSTLY TO REPLACE, IT POSES AS A SECURITY HAZARD OR A HIGH RISK FOR THEFT BECAUSE THE CAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND ALARM BECOMES DISABLED. THE VEHICLE WILL THINK THE KEY IS STILL IN THE IGNITION. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THAT COUNTLESS PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE TODAY. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A BUSINESS PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
