I was refueling my vehicle at Fullerton Costco, the internal metal flap of the capless fuel filler neck is stuck closed and preventing me from inserting a gas nozzle to refuel the vehicle. I could not refuel my gas tank. Luckily, my vehicle still has some fuel left, enough for me to get to the nearest Acura dealer (Cerritos Acura) to have them fix it. It was expensive though for an issue that should not happen at all. Also, a vehicle cannot be refueled or has a failed fuel neck flap, it can become a safety hazard and this is the main reason I file this complaint against Acura.
The contact owns a 2017 Acura TLX. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) but the fix failed to repair the vehicle. The contact stated that after the repair was performed, there was an abnormal fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately five times to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the oil rings on the fuel injector had detached. The oil rings were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 142,000.
My 2017 Acura was involved in a low-speed collision where it failed to stop in a timely manner, resulting in a total loss declaration. This vehicle had open safety recalls (including the fuel pump/rod bearing issues) that remained unrepaired for over 1.5 years. Despite multiple inquiries, the manufacturer failed to provide a repair timeline or remedy. I believe these unresolved defects directly contributed to the braking failure and subsequent safety incident.
My car shuts off at idle without warning. No lights or codes. I’ve seen a fuel pump issue is the cause on other models like mine.
Hello i am writing in to see why the Acura TLX recall range is 2018-2020. The original effected engines for the TLX were 2015-2020 Acura TLX 3.5 v6. The engines for the 15-17 are the same as a 18-20 Acura TLX
I was driving on the freeway and I heard something explode followed by a clanking noise. The oil light and battery light came on simultaneously and I could not accelerate. I immediately pulled over and noticed that all the oil drained out of the car. When I got a chance look under the vehicle there was a hole in the oil pan. A mechanic said that it had happened from the inside. Possibly something from the motor broke off and shot out of my oil pan.
Electronic parking brake and check emissions system lights going on simultaneously. Car stalled on freeway and check transmission light also went on simultaneously. Very dangerous. Multiple reports submitted for similar issue by many people. Please look into this. Acura needs a recall on these TLX models
My daughter was driving her car to work. Well in the middle of rush hour traffic the car put itself in neutral and then would not move and all of the lights were displayed on the dashboard as if the car was turned off. The car would not go into gear to move forward. She put the car in park and then shut the engine off. The engine shuttered and the car shook while it turned off. He then tried to start it and then started again and it started up okay and was able to put the car in drive and move forward. I spoke to my mechanic and he said that there is a recall on this car for fuel pump issues. I checked the VIN and it said that there was no open recall. However I wanted to report this incident to document it for this particular car because it could have a fuel pump issue.
On September 30, 2024 I received a notice from Acura titled “Important Safety Notice” (Recall Number 23V-751). The recall concerns a manufacturing defect of the engine crankshaft. On October 1, 2024 I contacted Nalley Acura of Marietta, Georgia about scheduling an appointment and was told that the first available appointment was not until July 24, 2025 (almost ten months later). I was also told that the recall is not a safety concern and that I can continue to drive my car. I find it incredulous that Acura can issue a “safety recall” and then claim that the first opportunity to perform the repair is ten months later. Being forced to wait ten months to repair a manufacturing defect is outrageous and dangerous. Is this a subterfuge by the Company to avoid performing the repairs? In addition, I am confused by the dealerships response that this is not a safety concern. The recall notice states “due to a manufacturing defect of the engine crankshaft, the connecting rod bearing can prematurely wear and seize, causing engine damage. A damaged engine may run improperly or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a fire, crash, or injury”. Is the recall notice incorrect - that the matter under recall is not a safety concern? Additionally, I received a call from Honda Customer Service on Friday, October 4, 2024. Among other things, I was told that as part of the recall, I may be charged for a "diagnostic test" if the dealership looks at my car and finds a repair is not needed. Waiting ten months for a safety recall is unacceptable and I hope the NHTSA investigates this further and forces Acura to explain how it can take so long to perform the service caused by its manufacturing defect. Also, to incur a charge as part of the recall process is unacceptable and will only discourage consumers from taking their car to a dealer.
The contact owns a 2017 Acura TLX. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the failure occurred five months after the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine started knocking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed a valve adjustment, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer had an engineer inspect the vehicle at the dealer and discovered there was wrist pin play on piston #2. The contact was informed that the short block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but refused to replace the short block due to aftermarket components on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Acura TLX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Car experiences intermittent electrical system failure. Upon failure, drivers will experiance random and rapid clicking, clanking, and electrical systems discharging like lights, screens, and alarm. After restarting the car, users will find, all warning lights displayed with a few blinking: transmission, parking brake, traction control, a few more. Headlights will randomly turn on, as well as the alarm, intermittently. All ADAS offline. Experienced sudden system failure causing all ADAS to fail while stationary/parked or moving/(actively driving on highway). Does actively affect driving ability more specifically: disrupts steering ability, causes random malfunctions with electrical components, cannot exceed 40 mph, car will not shift above 3rd gear, engine does seem much louder. After a thorough investigation/diagnosis with the dealership I concluded the main fault is due to the "Smart Power Control Unit" located behind the glovebox compartment of the vehicle. More specifically, one of the chips on the circuit board is not fully coated with sealant from the factory, leading to a potential for some kind of mold, dust, or organic growth to form and short one of the ground pins on the end of the chip. Driver States: This is a control unit failure, I believe a small short on a single ground pin with the positively charged chip housing was causing a short within the control unit circuit board where the chip was not fully covered with non-conductive coating/sealant. This caused a handful of issues, like electrical systems prematurely wearing due to rapid discharge of electronics. Impairs drivers ability and ability in turning, braking, and accelerating. Also car will roll backwards if driver is not careful. BIGGEST CONCERNS: FIRE, partial loss of control while driving, and premature wear on electrical components. A extra note: Disconnecting battery does temporarily fix issue but rarely, most time it will start discharging electrical systems immediately or in the day.
The contact owns a 2017 Acura TLX. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), and the dealer confirmed that the rod bearing had been replaced under the recall remedy. After receiving the repair, while driving approximately 15 MPH, the contact became aware that the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. The contact stated that the vibration became more prominent at speeds of 70 MPH or higher. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and lost motive power briefly before regaining normal operation. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who performed the recall repair to confirm that the engine had been inspected. The dealer confirmed that the rod bearing had been replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,300.
There was a recall issued on Nov 2023. The manufacturer has informed me about this in Jan 2024. After that there is no update. In other words, its been 6 months and mfg still haven't fixed this. Based on what I read on the description of recall, this issue can be serious (Stall of engine) which is not safe and also can get expensive if it happens. So, I am raising this complaint hoping you will look in to this and make manufacturer act on this sooner.
On May 11, 2024, while driving my 2017 Acura TLX on a local city street, multiple dashboard lights suddenly came on. Since that time these lights began to come back on more frequent and often will go into a Limp Mode. I have had the vehicle inspected at my local Acura dealership only to be told that the vehicles rear PAWS Actuators and Control Unit need to be replaced at a cost of around $8,000. They also informed me that a recall for this issue was only for the 2015 TLX and RLX models but there could be a recall for my model year at some future date. I find this to be unacceptable as I have found out there are multiple instances of this same issue happening with many other Acura owners.
Emissions system problem/electric parking brake problem

My car’s lights were on. I went to Acura to get a diagnostic and they said to replace the fuel pump. I replaced it, and the lights came back on. I got another diagnostic and I was told the fuel pump has a leak. I have an 2017 Acura TLX that was not apart of the recent recall which I believe it should have been because my car is slow to steer which may cause an accident.

On May 26, 2023, I purchased my 2017 Acura TLX from Sterling McCall Acura Houston, TX. On July 16th, my son was driving the Acura TLX and the engine burst into a fire. After the engine fire, I had to replace the entire. On November 20, 2023, after reading an article and contacting American Honda ( [XXX] ) I became aware of a recall on my Acura TLX. [XXX] [XXX] > 4:28 PM (19 minutes ago) to takahiro_hachigo American Honda 1919 Torrance Blvd PO Box 2215 Torrance, CA 90509 - 9870 RE: Request for Financial Compensation Vehicle: 2017 Acura TLX VIN: [XXX] Dear American Honda Executive, I am reaching out as a long-term and loyal Honda customer, having owned multiple Honda vehicles over the past 30 years, including a 1990 Accord, a 2000 Accord, a 2005 Accord, a 2006 Odyssey, a 2011 Odyssey, a 2012 Accord, and most recently, a 2017 Acura TLX. Honda’s reputation for reliability has been a significant reason behind my continued support. However, recent mechanical issues and recalls, especially those affecting V6 engines, have left me with concerns. I purchased the 2017 Acura TLX in May 2023, unaware of any recalls or issues associated with this car’s make, model, and year. Just a month later, in June 2023, the vehicle’s engine caught fire while my son, a college student, was driving. Fortunately, he was able to walk away without injury, but this experience was alarming and has led to significant repair expenses. After the fire, I learned that there was a recall affecting Acura TLX models. I promptly filed a claim with Honda in November 2023, but the claim was denied without explanation, leaving me to cover the costs myself. With the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now investigating similar engine failures, I feel that my concerns are not isolated. Given my longstanding loyalty to Honda, I respectfully request financial compensation for these repair costs or, alternatively, a credit toward a certified used or new vehicle. I am open to working with Honda to resolve this matter fairly and amicably. Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
UNKNOWN- I was on the Interstate coming from work when I heard a loud BOOM sound. Then I heard wind. I got to where I could pull over and saw nothing. I looked at my sunroof and it was completely shattered. Just out the blue. Thankfully my sunroof was closed and my shade was pulled or I would have been seriously injured or worse.
I was driving on highway 3 weeks ago and all of a sudden my car shifted into neutral on its own and would not let me select any gears. Luckily I was safely able to pull over to the shoulder without getting rear ended. Once I powered off the car and restarted, it let me select "D" drive gear again and behaved normally. I contacted Acura dealer and they said it is a software issue and Acura is aware of it and no fix is available at this time. Then it happened again 3 days ago while I was turning into a parking lot and this time I took it to dealer service department. They checked but could do nothing about it other than clean gear selector push buttons which does not solve the issue. My car has had all recommended maintenance including transmission fluid change done about 5000 miles ago. This is an extremely serious issue and could have resulted in major accident on highway resulting in injuries or death.
Every time I took my car in for State emissions test computer at facility said car could came back saying “not ready”. Took it 5 times and it always said same result. Took it to dealer and they said they’ve seen this before but don’t know what caused it. They said the only was to resolve it was for Acura mechanic to take car to testing facility while his laptop was hooked up to cat computer, to “trick” testing facility into allowing cat to pass EPA test. Car was still under warranty at this time and had 60,000 miles on it. Car passed tested dealer charged me $400 and said it was not covered under warranty because they could not find a code for the problem. Acura mechanic said he has seen this on other Acura TLXs…
Alarm system goes off randomly. Alarm does not “beep” when you press the key fob. Hood latch sensor is the problem.
Acura TLX TECH showing "Check Engine", "Break" and Warning sign on the dashboard. Vehicle was taken to Acura Dealer at East Brunswick on 08/29/2022. They inspected the car and advised that the issue with "Pipe Kit, Fuel Filler Part #06160-TZ3-A11". The part was ordered by the dealer up on my request with a comment that part is back ordered and no firm expected time per Acura corporate and advised that I shall look for part from other dealers as well. I was advised that vehicle is drivable. As a fallback I ordered part from OEM Acura Parts on 08/30/2022 and got the same message from them as well that its back ordered. Upon several follow ups and calls still part is unavailable and car is not fixed. Dealer advised in April 2023 that I shall call Acura corporate to determine the expected arrival and I open a case with Acura Corporate with Case ID: 13772219 and had follow up call with customer services on 04/21/2023 and 4/28/2023. Finally got a call back from Case Manager Chris on 05/01/2023 and he said "No definitive ETA, Part not available. What best he can do is to send period update via email and call when part is available." I am in the state of New Jersey and vehicle inspections are mandatory, My car inspection is due soon and in case car is not fixed, then there is no way vehicle will pass inspection and I will be forced NOT to drive the car.
Auto start-stop system failed on several occasions, the car shut itself down Since then every time I start the cat I disable it. Transmission feels clunky, there is kick to it between 2nd and 3rd gear, many complaints found on the web. Bought the car with 16xxx miles 2 years old.
Auto Stop/Start feature fails to restart vehicle, rendering vehicle inoperable. Powering off the vehicle and then powering up the vehicle thus far has restarted everything, much to the frustration of myself and the drivers behind me.
These lights just came on Emissions system problem and Electric parking brake problem
Rear rotors warped after only about 15000 miles. Calipers failed early too. This causes the vehicle to shake very hard when braking, and creates an unsafe condition. Competent mechanics have inspected the vehicle and confirmed this.
I have been stopped by traffic or stop light when I put my foot on the gas to start up, the car stalls. The whole dashboard is lights up and I have to try several times to get engine started. This is very scary.... I took the car to dealership. After 4 hours at the dealership and $155, my car is stalling again. I am scared I could get hurt in this car!
Car stalled while in traffic line with Auto idle engaged. Took foot off brake to move forward and car stalled. Unable to restart car after the stall. Had to be towed to Honda dealership, they assessed it was an alternator issue. Alternator replaced car starts normally. Drove car for approximately 30 min and had turned off the Auto idle feature. Car stalled again after sitting in traffic and trying to move ahead. This time car restarted without issue. No warnings or messages on that I noticed. Have read many forums that describe similar issues to Honda and Acura's
AFTER COMPLETING GROCERY SHOPPING IN WALMART I RETUNED TO MY PARKED VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT AND, TO MY HORROR THE CERTIFIED PREOWNED 2017 ACURA TLX THAT I JUST TOOK DELIVERY ON 12/23/20 WOULD NOT START. GOT ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR JUMP START, CAR STARTED BUT COULD NOT PUT IN REVERSE, DRIVE, OR NEUTRAL. DASH PANEL WAS LIT UP WITH MULTIPLE WARNINGS INDICATED. THIS HAPPENED ON A SUNDAY SO HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY RESIDENCE A MILE AWAY BECAUSE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPENED FOR ME TO TOW THERE. DISGUSTINGLY I DID NOT MAKE A FULL MONTH FROM DELIVERY DATE BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. I WAS FORCED TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO MY RESIDENCE A MILE AWAY, DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE OVERNIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. IN FACT, COULD NOT EVEN LOCK THE VEHICLE. HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. HOPEFULLY GET A PERMANENT FIX. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE UNCOVERED MULTIPLE INSTANCES ON THE INTERNET DESCRIBING THIS VERY SAME ISSUE THAT HAD I KNOWN PRIOR TO MAKING THE PURCHASE I WOULD HAVE GIVEN STRONG CONSIDERATIONS TO "NOT" BUYING THIS VEHICLE.

STARTED MY CAR AFTER WORK TO ALMOST ALL MY DASH LIGHTS ON LIKE PARK, EMISSIONS CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE WITH AN EXCLAMATION MARK BESIDE IT, ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM, HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM BRAKE HOLD SYSTEM PROBLEM VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST PERTINENT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON!
I BOUGHT MY ACURA ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO BUT SAW THEY HAD SOME RECALLS ON OVER 400K OF THESE VEHICLES WITH FUEL ISSUES! IS THIS GOING TO BE AN ISSUE FOR ME LATER WITH THIS VEHICLE? RIGHT NOW MY VEHICLE IS FINE THOUGH, JUST WANTED IT TO BE KNOWN.
ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 75 MPH, CARS THROWS ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND COMPLETELY LOSES POWER. WARNING LIGHTS COME ON SAYING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION, ELECTRIC BRAKE, AND EMISSION SYSTEM. CAR COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IS COMPLETELY DEAD, BUT DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE ON. CAR IS LOCKED IN NEUTRAL AND CANNOT BE SHIFTED. SAT WAITING FOR A TOW FOR 30 MINUTES, CARS CAN NOW BE TURNED OFF, THEN RESTARTED AND SUDDENLY IT CAN BE DRIVEN AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS AND I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH DEALERS EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED PROBLEM. FIRST THEY SAID IT FUEL PUMP, THEN A SOFTWARE ISSUE. SINCE I BROUGHT IT TO DEALER, TRANSMISSION NOW DOES NOT SEEM TO SHIFT PROPERLY, ITS VERY JERKY. THE CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO TAKE ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE, A VERY HOT DAY.
JERKING FROM TRANSMISSION. WHEN A STOP AND GO MOTION IT FEELS LIKE GETTING REAR ENDED. MY TRANSMISSION IS AUTOMATIC AND WHEN DOING A QUICK STOP AND GO THE JERK AND ACCELERATION FEEL LIKE I WAS DRIVING MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE

THE CONTACT OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOORS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PHIL SMITH ACURA (940 N FEDERAL HWY, POMPANO BEACH, FL 33062), AND WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC HAD REPLACED THE RUBBER LATCH ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ACURA TLX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIRST ACURA SALES (16 HIGHLAND AVE, SEEKONK, MA 02771) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN 2017 I HAD THE CAR LOSE THROTTLE POWER WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND EVERY LIGHT IN THE CAR BEGAN TO FLASH. I LET OFF THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES AND TRIED ACCELERATING AGAIN AND THIS DID NOT WORK. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OR SO OF TRYING THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND SO WAS THE WARNING OF "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM" AND "EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK PROBLEM". THE NEXT DAY I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT ACURA. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD ME THE CAR HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND TRIPPED THE SENSORS BUT THEY CLEARED THE CODES AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THEY ALSO TRIED TO BLAME MY LENGTHY ROADTRIP FOR THE MALFUNCTION. WHEN YOU SPEND 40,000 DOLLARS ON A CAR THAT HAS 6,000 MILES ON IT YOU DO NOT EXPECT A "MALFUNCTION" BUT I ACCEPTED THE RESULT AND WALKED AWAY. IN 2018 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH AND I LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONE. BUT SUDDENLY THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED INTO 4TH GEAR(GOING 60MPH) AND WAS SITTING AT ABOUT 4500 RPMS AND I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT BUT REGAINED THROTTLE RESPONSE SO I PULLED OVER. I ALLOWED THE CAR TO SIT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS. I DID NOT TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER THIS TIME BECAUSE ALL OF THE LIGHTS HAD CLEARED OVERNIGHT. IN JUNE 2019 THIS HAD HAPPENED AGAIN FOR THE LAST TIME AND I TOOK THE CAR STRAIGHT BACK TO ACURA AND TOLD THEM TO FIGURE IT OUT. THEY CALLED ME 2 DAYS LATER AND TOLD ME THEY HAD TO UPDATE MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID THEY FIXED IT. SO I ASSUMED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED AND I WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY. BUT NOW JUST THE OTHER DAY AUGUST 19TH 2019 THE THROTTLE LOST COMPLETE POWER AGAIN EXCEPT THIS TIME NO LIGHTS CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON WITH NO ISSUES. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP WITH THIS MATTER. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOU TIME!
WITH THE VEHICLE AUTO STOP FUNCTION ENGAGED (WHICH IS ALWAYS ENGAGED WHEN STARTING YOUR DRIVE, CAN'T BE DISABLED AUTOMATICALLY) AND YOU COME TO A STOP, THE ENGINE WILL AUTO STOP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY YOU NEED TO RESUME DRIVING, THE SYSTEM WILL GENERATE A 61-12 ERROR, FLASH WARNINGS ABOUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM POSSIBLY NOT WORKING AND ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. THIS MEANS THAT YOU ARE STUCK WHERE YOU ARE UNTIL YOU GATHER YOUR WITS AND DISENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IN AN INTERSECTION, PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO UNEXPECTEDLY STOP AND TRY TO HURRY ON THRU YOU CAN GET CAUGHT IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, HAS HAPPENED TWICE! THE CAR HAS BEEN SEEN BY ACURA 11 TIMES AND VARIOUS COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT THIS ACTIVITY IS ACTUALLY NORMAL AND TO AVOID THIS SITUATION, ALWAYS MANUALLY DISENGAGE THE AUTO STOP FUNCTION. 1. THIS IS TOO EASY TO FORGET, HUMANS DON'T ALWAYS REMEMBER AND 2. DOING SO LIGHTS UP A VERY IRRITATING AMBER WARNING LIGHT. THIS "NORMAL" OPERATION IS HAZARDOUS! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FROM 2,000 MILES TO MY CURRENT 36,000 MILES!
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED TO THE REDLINE. A 'TRANSMISSION TOO HOT' NOTIFICATION CAME UP ON THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAY. VEHICLE HAD NO POWER AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE KEPT REVVING UNTIL IT WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE AND SHUT DOWN. AFTER THAT, WE WERE UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. CAR WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS DIAGNOSED. LATER, THEY TOOK OUT THE ENGINE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE FLYWHEEL HAD BEEN SHEARED OFF. VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, SO ACURA REFUSED TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY, ALTHOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN BRAKES WERE EMPLOYED AND VEHICLE DID NOT STOP BUT GRINDER FORWARD, HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT.
