THE WHEELS/RIMS ON MY BMW ARE CONTRIBUTING TO MY TIRES FAULTS. THE BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RTS TIRES ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING BUBBLES FORM ON THE TIRES WITH NORMAL DRIVING. I HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL TIRES AS A RESULT. THEY TELL ME IT IS ROAD HAZARD. IF THAT WAS THE CASE I WOULD HAVE REPLACED TIRES ON MY OTHER CARS THAT I DRIVE MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY. LAST WEEK ANOTHER BLOWOUT ON INTERSTATE 395 IN VA. $500 FOR A NEW TIRE AND THEN THEY FIND ANOTHER TIRE WITH A BUBBLE. BMW IS AT FAULT AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR WINDOW REGULATORS WOULD PREMATURELY WEAR AND FAIL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED EACH TIME AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DROVE TO MALL. PARKED CAR. CAME BACK OUT TO A RED STEERING WHEEL WITH A PADLOCK ON THE DASH. I PUT THE KEY IN THE CAR. PRESSED THE BUTTON, CAR WOULD NOT START. TRIED TO UNLOCK THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IT WOULD NOT BUDGE. I SEARCHED THE SYMBOL TO FIND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM "INTERMITTENT IR IMMEDIATE STEERING WHEEL LOCKOUT". I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT BMW SAID WAS THE ONLY OPTION. DIAGNOSIS NEED A NEW STEERING COLUMN. NO WARNING. NO STEERING ISSUES. NO VISIBLE DAMAGE. JUST AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED OUT AND LEFT STRANDED.
THE FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT PROTECTION MAT IN THE 2007 BMW 328XI IS DISPLAYED ON MY DASH INSTRUMENTATION FOR OVER A YEAR.IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG COULD BE DEACTIVATED RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY. I LOOKED UP THE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT INDICATED THAT THE MODEL WAS RECALLED. I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I UNDERSTAND THAT NUMEROUS BMW OWNERS HAVE MADE A SIMILAR COMPLAINT ABOUT THEIR VEHICLE AND RECALLS ARE USUALLY INITIATED IN THIS MANNER. REGARDLESS OF THE PRODUCTION TIME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS MADE, MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME DEFECT AS THE OTHER VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY BMW.
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH PASSING VEHICLE ALLERTED ME OF FIRE AND SMOKE COMING FROM MY REAR. AS I SLOWED DOWN FLAMES AND SMOKE INCREASED. SMOKE FILLED INTERIOR UPON MY EXITING. REAR FIRE CO0NTINUED TO BURN UNTIL FIRE DEPARTMENT. DOOUSED CAR WITH WATER. POLICE REPORT TAKEN. CAR TAKEN TO REPAIR SHOP AND DECLARED TO EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR.
IN TRAFFIC BELT SHREDS AT 70-75MPH ALL ELECTRICAL STEERING AND LIGHT BREAKES GONE
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE STEERING LOCK MALFUNCTION LITE UP OUT OF NOWHERE. THE CAR CAN NOT MOVE. THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT'S DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE TO FIX. VERY COMMON PROBLEM EXPRESSED BY MANY OWNERS WITH THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR AS MY CAR. THEY SHOULD'VE CONDUCTED A RECALL ON THIS!! *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WITH SOMEWHERE AROUND 60K OR 65K MILES IT NOW HAS AROUND 80K MILES AND SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN PURCHASED IT HAS HAD ONE PROBLEM AFTER THE NEXT. THE ELECTRICAL FOR THE WINDOWS,MIRRORS,DOOR LOCKS,GPS SYSTEM,HEAD LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I RECEIVED A FAULT WARNING THAT THE OUTSIDE RUNNING LIGHTS OR HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. I HAVE NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND TOOK IT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT WHICH I WAS TOLD OBD CODE READS MISFIRE #2 IGNITION COIL. I HAD THE PARTS REPLACED AND CODES CLEARED AND STILL THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON READING THE SAME FAULT CODE HAD IT CHECKED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD IT IS A NEW PART AND IT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND HE CANNOT FIGURE WHY IT WOULD COME BACK THE SAME THING. THE ONLY EXPLANATION HE HAD FOR ME IS THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE OBD COMPUTER. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS HAD TROUBLE CRANKING, STUTTERS ON TAKE OFF, STALLS AT STOP LIGHTS, I HAVE HAD A LOSS OF POWER IMMEDIATELY WHILE ON GETTING ON THE FREE WAY AND THE CAR SAID REDUCED ENGINE POWER SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT LET ME GET OVER SPEEDS OF 20. I HAVE SMELT FUEL WHEN THE AC WAS TURNED ON. HAS BEEN NUMEROUS THINGS ONE AFTER THE OTHER. I WAS LOOKING AT NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR THE ELECTRICAL, THE FUEL PUMP,THE LIGHTS,AND NOW THE AIR BAGS .AND SEAT BELT TENSIONERS. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THE CAR WAS EVER BROUGHT IN TO BE FIXED FROM THE RECALLS, OR IF THE RECALLS EXPIRE. CAUSE I HAVE NOT OWNED VEHICLE VERY LONG
A MESSAGE IN RED APPEARED ON THE DASH WITH A STEERING WHEEL AND PADLOCK. CAR WOULD NOT START. WAS TOLD STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
SUNROOF EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY IN THE ONRAMP AT ABOUT 45MPH, VERY BRIGHT AND SUNNY (BUT NOT HOT, MAYBE 75F) DAY. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS OPEN, A/C OFF, SUNROOF WAS CLOSED, SUNSHADE WAS ALSO CLOSED. SUDDENLY I HEAR WHAT BASICALLY SOUNDS LIKE A GUNSHOT RIGHT ABOVE MY HEAD, AND SINCE HAVING ALREADY HEARD ABOUT THIS PHENOMENON HAPPENING ON A CAR FORUM (E90POST.COM) I REGULARLY VISIT, I INSTANTLY GUESSED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I LOOK IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND SEE LARGE PIECES OF MY SUNROOF BOUNCING ALONG ON THE ROAD BEHIND ME. ONCE I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR, I SAW THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED OUTWARDS. THE BROKEN GLASS WAS CURVED UP AROUND THE HOLE. FROM THAT SAME FORUM THERE ARE SEVERAL THEORIES FLOATING AROUND, THE ONE MOST PEOPLE SEEM TO AGREE ON AS BEING MOST PLAUSIBLE IS THERE'S A HEAT/PRESSURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SUNSHADE/SUNROOF AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THE NEGATIVE PRESSURE ON THE OUTSIDE + THE INCREASE OF HEAT UNDER THE GLASS IS ENOUGH TO STRESS WHATEVER IMPERFECTION MIGHT HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN THE GLASS AND LITERALLY SUCK IT OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN PARK, THE CONTACT NOTICED STRONG FUEL FUMES OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED REPLACING THE FUEL CAP. THE FUEL CAP WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD FRACTURED AND AS A RESULT, THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I PARKED ON MY DRIVE WAY NORMALLY WITH EVERYTHING FINE. THE NEXT DAY WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE CAR ON, IT WOULDN'T START AND IT GAVE ME A STEERING WHEEL LOCK ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON AN EMPTY ROAD WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, THE CABIN LOST ALL POWER AND THE CAR WENT ON BLACK OUT MODE. I BEGAN TO PRESS THE BRAKE BUT IT WAS ROUGH AND UNRESPONSIVE, I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO CONTINUE TO STOP SLOWLY, ONCE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I BEGAN TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT IN THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE AND SEEMED TO BE FINE, I POPPED THE HOOD OPEN, EXAMINED A LITTLE BIT MORE FOR FLUIDS OR SIGNS OF OVER HEATING AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, CALLED A TOW TRUCK, THE DRIVER TESTED THE BATTERY AND SAID THE BATTERY WAS NOT TAKING THE CHARGE, SO HE TOWED ME HOME, THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE BATTERY TO THE PLACE I PURCHASED IT FROM SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THIS BATTERY HAD A 2 YEAR WARRANTY AND WAS USED FOR 8 MONTHS. I INSTALLED THE BATTERY AND THE POWER IN THE CABIN AND DASH WAS REESTABLISHED, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH SHORTLY AFTER I TRY TO START THE CAR AND A CLICKING NOISE FROM WHERE THE FUSE BOX IS LOCATED, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BEGAN. I PULLED THE KEY OUT, ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND AN ICON OF A STEERING WHEEL AND LOCKED POPPED UP, ALL IN RED. I CEASED TO ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR, I RESEARCHED THE FOLLOWING DAY AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE BMW DEALER, ON TUESDAY 4/22 THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THE BATTERY WAS DEAD ONCE AGAIN AND THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE STEERING COLUMN MECHANISM WHICH WAS LOCKED, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE $1200 TO PERFORM THE LABOR, APPARENTLY THEY RESET THE CODE AND THE CAR WAS TURNED ON, ONCE I REALIZED THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE AND THAT THERE IS NO SPECIAL CODING TO PERFORM THE JOB, I ASKED FOR THE CAR TO BE RELEASED AFTER PAYING $160. THE VEHICLE HAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAUSES THE BATTERY TO PUT OUT HIGHER VOLTAGE THAN THE CAR NEEDS AND THEREFORE CAUSES THE BATTERY TO MALFUNCTION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HOV LANE OF THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR ABOUT 5:15 PM MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO RATTLE WHEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDDLE. I TOOK MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDDLE WHILE STILL DRIVING WITH ABOUT 60 MPH. I TRIED THE GAS PEDDLE SOME SECONDS LATER AGAIN AND EXPERIENCED STILL RATTLING AND NO ACCELERATION OF THE CAR. I TOOK MY FOOT AGAIN FROM THE GAS PEDDLE. IN THE MEANTIME I WAS DOWN TO 40MPH. ABOUT 20-30 SEC LATER FROM THE FIRST RATTLE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND 1 SEC LATER THE ENGINE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. AT THAT TIME WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED I WAS STILL DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH. LUCKILY THE FREEWAY HAD A LEFT SHOULDER AND I TURNED OVER TO THE LEFT WITH THE LAST REMAINING SPEED AND SLOWLY STOPPED THE CAR. I'M SO GLAD THAT THE LEFT SHOULDER WAS AVAILABLE. THE FREEWAY WAS VERY BUSY AND I ASSUME I WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, IF THE LEFT SHOULDER WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE. THE LOSS OF POWER WAS TOO SUDDEN AND ENTIRELY UNEXPECTED. THE STALLED ENGINE CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS MOMENT WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY. THE BMW SHOP CAME BACK TO ME TODAY AND EXPLAINED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED. A KNOW ISSUE WITH THE CAR MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. *TR
SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT BROKE DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING, POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY LOST. BELT REPLACED; AFTER 2000 MILES BELT WAS FOUND TO BE FRAYED AND SEVERELY WORN. BELT WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME. BELT THEN BROKE A THIRD TIME AFTER 8000 WHILE DRIVING, SAME CONDITIONS AND SYMPTOMS. DIAGNOSED AS DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE BELT AND POWER STEERING PULLEY DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE WITH THE FRONT SUBFRAME. BMW HAS HAD A TSB FOR THE ISSUE SINCE 2008 (SI B11 09 08) FOR ALL E90 SERIES WITH N54 ENGINES (135I, 335I) UP TO 04/08 PRODUCTION; RECOMMENDED REPAIR FOR VEHICLES THAT HAD SUBFRAME CONTACT WITH THE PULLEY IS TO REPLACE FRONT SUBFRAME WITH UPDATED PART -- NO WARRANTY EXTENSION OR RECALL AT PRESENT FOR AFFECTED VEHICLES, COVERED UNDER NEW WARRANTY ONLY. OWNER EVENTUALLY REPLACED SUBFRAME WITH UPDATED ONE OUT OF POCKET.
MY CAR IS DISPLAYING "PASSENGER RESTRAINT MALFUNCTION" ERROR ON MY IDRIVE DASHBOARD. I SEARCHED AND IT SEEMS THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL BUT WHEN I ENTER MY VIN NUMBER, THE RECALL IS NOT SHOWN FOR MY SPECIFIC CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ASKED ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V044000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE A 2007 BMW 328I AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE MY AIR BAG AND RESTRAINT LIGHTS CAME ON. I KNOW THERE ARE RECALLS ON THEM BUT WHEN I ADD MY VIN IT IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I AM A LITTLE WORRIED THAT IF I WERE TO GET INTO A ACCIDENT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER DETECTION MAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 335I. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE FAULT IN THE PASSENGER RESTRAINT WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED CAUSING THE AIR BAG SEAT BELT TENSION SYSTEM TO ACTIVATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SENOR UNDER THE MAT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
JUST THE OTHER DAY I DECIDED TO TAKE A TRIP TO THE STORE . I STEPPED IN THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO STATE IT. I GOT THE ( ELECTRIC STEERING WHEEL LOCK MALFUNCTION ) IT AUTOMATICALLY DISABLES THE VEHICLE NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED . I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE AND IT WOULD COST ME UP TOWARDS $1500 OUT OF POCKET .. THAT IS CRAZY !! NOW I HAVE A HEAVY AND EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT IN MY DRIVEWAY . I DID SOME RESEARCH ON A COUPLE OF BMW FORUMS TO DO SOME HOME WORK I COULDN'T BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE . THE KICKER IS ITS A DEALER PART ONLY . I HAVE NOW CHOICE BUT TO GO THE DEALERSHIP AND BE FORCED TO PAY PREMIUM PRICES FOR A DEFECTIVE PART THE IS COMMON TO BREAK . ITS A SENSOR THAT IS LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF THE CAR THAT FAILS . BMW DESIGNED THE STEERING COLUMN TO BE ONE UNIT SO I HAVE TO CHANGE OUT THE WHOLE COLUMN INSTEAD THE EFFECTED PROBLEM WHICH COST NOTHING IN COMPARISON. HOW IS THIS MY FAULT . WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY THIS OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OUT OF MY HANDS . *TR
MY CAR MIGHT HAVE TURBO CHARGER ISSUE THAT WAS SETTLE UNDER CLASS ACTION IN 2010 . I'M BEING CHARGED FOR REPAIRS THAT WILL ABLE BMW TO MAKE DIAGNOSIS FOR THAT PROBLEM AT FIRST FOR VACUUM TURBO LINES ALMOST FOR 1000 DOLLARS AND TODAY FOR SOME OTHER ISSUE ANOTHER 500. I'M BEING PRESSURED BY BMW TO FIX IT OR QUIT. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS ONLY TILL 82 THOUSAND MILES. SO EITHER I PAY OR END UP NOT KNOWING IF MY CAR HAS THIS ISSUE. WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND TRYING TO SPEED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING THAT ENGINE IS NOT WORKING IN FULL CAPACITY AND TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP... PLS HELP ME TO RESOLVE THAT ISSUE. THANK YOU. I CALLED BMW OR NORTHERN AMERICA AND SPOKE WITH SKY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS WHAT IT IS AND I HAVE TO PAY SINCE THE MECHANICS KNOW BETTER WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. WHEN I ASKED FOR SOMEBODY THAT IS IN DIRECT RELATIONS WITH BMW OF GERMANY I WAS TOLD THAT HE IS THE TOP OF THE LINE PERSON AND ENTITY IN HIS SELF. I FEEL THAT ANYTHING RELATED TO THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE COVER BY BMW NOT ME. *TR
AIRBAG PROBLEM LIGHT CONSTANTLY LIT; "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. MECHANIC STATES THAT THE CAR IS GIVING A CODE FOR A FAILED PASSENGER OCCUPANCY SENSOR. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR (NHTSA CAMPAIGN 13V564000), BUT MY CAR (BUILD DATE JULY 07, 3-SERIES WITH SPORTS SEATS) IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL OR THE VOLUNTARY WARRANTY EXTENSION ACCORDING TO BMW... .UPDATED 10/04/17 *BF THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THE VEHICLE BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS IF IT'S THE SAME SENSOR PAD AND/OR SAME MALFUNCTION. WHY IS IT ONLY A FRACTION OF THE MODELS? ALSO IT'S UNFAIR FOR YOU GUYS TO MAKE MISTAKE WITH THIS INFORMATION. BY THE TIME YOU HAVE CORRECTED THE ISSUE I WILL HAVE DIED OR PAID FOR EVERY DEFECT OUT OF MY OWN POCKETS. REMEMBER BMW IS A BUSINESS I AM NOT. I HAVE DONE THE MOST RECENT 3 RECALLS ON MY BMW, I NOTICED THROUGH KREDIT KARMA THAT IT CLAIMS A FOURTH ONE FOR THE DETECTION MAT ON THE PASSENGERS SEAT AIR BAG SYSTEM. I DID MENTION THIS RECALL TO BMW WHEN I RECENTLY VISITED FOR THE 3 MOST RECENT RECALLS, BUT THEY CLAIMED IT WAS NOT AFFECTED. THE ALERT OF THE MALFUNCTION ONLY SHOWS WHEN PASSENGER IS SEATED, IT CLEARS AFTER TURNING OFF IGNITION, BUT ONCE BACK IN PASSENGER SEAT, IT MALFUNCTIONS ONCE AGAIN. I WOULD JUST LIKE SOME CLARIFICATION ON THIS IF POSSIBLE. THANK YOU.

ONE EVENING IN DECEMBER 2014, MY CAR (2007 BMW 328XI) SUDDENLY STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLANGING NOISE AND VIBRATING VIOLENTLY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DRIVESHAFT (PROPELLOR SHAFT) HAD BROKEN. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, THE VEHICLE'S TRANSFER CASE FAILED - DAMAGE FROM THE DRIVESHAFT THAT HAD BEEN UNDETECTED AT THE TIME OF THE DRIVESHAFT RUPTURE. IN JANUARY 2015 I CONTACTED BMW AS I HAD HEARD OF OTHER DRIVERS OF SIMILAR 3 SERIES BMWS HAVING DRIVESHAFT AND TRANSFER CASE PROBLEMS, BUT BMW DENIED THERE WAS AN ISSUE. BUT IN AUGUST 2015, BMW ANNOUNCED A "COMPONENT SPECIFIC LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION" FOR THE DRIVESHAFT FOR THE BMW X5 - FOR 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES. NO SUCH PROGRAM HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR THE 328XI. GIVEN THAT THE FAILURE OF THE DRIVESHAFT AND TRANSFER CASE OF MY 328XI WAS VERY PREMATURE AND THAT IT WAS IDENTICAL TO THE REPEATED DRIVESHAFT FAILURES THAT LED TO THE ACTION ANNOUNCED FOR THE X5, I BELIEVE THAT THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS FOR THE 328XI AND MERITS AN INVESTIGATION AND ACTION BY NHTSA.
