A LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD CAME UP SAYING THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
I WAS PARKED, PLACED MY CAR IN REVERSE AND IMMEDIATELY ALL OF MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED (4X4 MALFUNCTION, ABS BRAKE FAILURE, TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION) THEN MY CAR LOST POWER. THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE SET POSITIONING MOTOR FAILING ON THESE VEHICLES. THE BMW DEALER PART # IS 27 10 7 546 671. THERE IS AN INTERNAL GEAR, WITH IN THE SET POSITIONING MOTOR, MADE OUT OF PLASTIC THAT WEARS PREMATURELY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH BMW'S AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. MY VEHICLE BECOME DISABLED WITH OUT WARNING, LEAVING ME STRANDED WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND A WARNING LIGHT COMES ON STATING STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE POWER OFF TO READ UP ON THE WARNING LIGHTS, I GOT A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL AND CAR WOULD NOT START. *TR
2007 BMW E92 335I - JUST TOOK OFF FROM MY HOME (CAR WAS NOT TURNED ON SINCE THE DAY BEFORE ATLEAST NOT AFTER 8PM) 10 MINUTES INTO THE ROAD I TURNED ON MY A/C BLOWER ON MAX. ON ABOUT 2 OR 3 MINUTES, SUDDENLY IT SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED WORKING FOLLOWED BY PLASTIC BURNING SMELL. AS I TRIED TO PULL OVER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT THE DASHBOARD AND JUST LIKE THAT THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE ON THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND SO ON... I STRANGER FROM AN TIRE SHOP RAN UP AND USED AN EXTINGUISHER TO STOP THE FIRE. SADLY THERE WAS SEVERE DAMAGE TO GLOVE COMPARTMENT, DASHBOARD, ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS LIKE FUSE BOX, PASSENGER DOOR, FRONT AND TOP INTERIOR.PLUS SOME MONEY I HAD STORED IN THE (WAS MY WAY TO THE BANK TO MAKE A DEPOSIT AND PICKUP MY FIANCEE) IM STILL WAITING FOR MY INSURANCE DECISION. IM VERY WORRIED SINCE I'VE SEARCH AROUND IN FORUMS AND I'VE READ ABOUT SOME OTHER PEOPLE HAVING SAME PROBLEMS AND OTHER ELECTRICAL FIRES WITH NO RESPONSE/RESOLUTION FROM BMW. I'VE OWNED A MINI COOPER AND 2 BMWS. MY COUSINS, AUNT, GRANPA (E30) HAVE BMWS. ANY SUGGESTIONS? *TR
APPARENTLY, THE ELECTRONIC KEY IS DEFECTIVE, LEADING TO AN ENGINE SHUTDOWN. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO STEER OFF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT POWER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE CAR WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO START. I NOTIFIED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS AFTER THE INCIDENT. I WAS TOLD THAT THESE KEYS HAVE A NON-REPLACEABLE RECHARGEABLE BATTERY, THAT MAY "WEAR OUT", AND THEREFORE NOT HOLD A CHARGE! THEY INFORMED ME THAT AS MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A REPLACEMENT KEY UNLESS I PURCHASED A NEW ONE ($250), I POINTED OUT THAT NOWHERE IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL IS IT STATED THAT KEYS NEED REPLACEMENT, NOR THE HAZARD OF DRIVING WITH A "WORN OUT" KEY. THE REPRESENTATIVE ([XXX], EMP.#[XXX]) STATED "THERE IS NOTHING BMW CAN DO IN THIS CASE." INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
UPON STARTING THE CAR THERE WAS A RAPID SOUND OF THE DOOR LOCKS, LOCKING AND OPENING SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN STOPPED. THE DRIVERS DOOR WAS LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. CHECKED ALL THE FUSES BUT NONE WERE BLOWN. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH DID REPLACE THE #57 FUSE WITH A 20 AMP VS 15 AS SUGGESTED BUT STILL NOT WORKING. IF YOU MESS WITH IT LONG ENOUGH IT WILL UNLOCK BUT THE OTHER DOORS WILL BE LOCKED. IF I WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND THIS HAPPENED , MYSELF OR THE OTHER OCCUPANTS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY ENOUGH TO PREVENT HARM TO US. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND BMW SHOULD TAKE SOME ACTION TO CORRECT THIS, AN OVERRIDE FIX OR OTHER SAFETY MEASURE AT THEIR EXPENSE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN MY VIEW! *TR
SOUND OF METAL BEING DRAGGED ALONG THE GROUND. FRIENDS WIRED THE METAL PIECE TO CAR'S UNDERBODY AND I DROVE OVER 300 MILES ON THE HIGHWAYS NOT REALIZING IT WAS THE STRAP FOR THE GAS TANK. TOOK IT TO BMW AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET IT ON A LIFT TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS. TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND TOOK OFF THE 'BROKEN' STRAP. NOW WAITING FOR TWO DAYS FOR THE PIECE TO COME FROM BMW. WENT ONLINE AND SAW THERE WERE OTHER POSTINGS ON A BMW 'BLOG SITE' REFERRING TO THIS PROBLEM, AND CAUSING ME SOME ALARM THAT THE GAS TANK COULD SPLIT!!! HOPE THIS ISN'T A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF 328XI MODELS! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328XI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER RESTRAINT FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE RESULT OF THE SEAT SENSOR MAT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS OFFERED THE PART FOR FREE, BUT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF A RECALL RELATING TO THE FAILURE, BUT WAS NOTIFIED FROM THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 335I. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND THE CYLINDERS SHUT DOWN. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
FUEL INJECTORS FAILING. KNOWN RECALL EXISTS WITH BMW FOR MFG DATES BETWEEN 04/02/2007 THROUGH 10/31/2008. BMW REFUSES TO COVER MY CAR UNDER THE RECALL AS MY CAR WAS PRODUCED IN LATE 2006. HOWEVER, THE PIEZO INJECTOR PART NUMBER IS THE SAME AS THE PART NUMBER UNDER RECALL, THE SYMPTOMS AND RESULTING FAILURE OF THE CAR IS ALSO EXACTLY THE SAME AS DOCUMENTED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE DOCUMENTED THOROUGHLY ONLINE AND WITHIN BMW'S DATABASE. I PROPOSE BMW TO EXTEND THEIR RECALL TO COVER ALL MODEL YEARS WITH THIS PART NUMBER. *TR

MY CAR'S AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE SUMMER INDICATING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS DISABLED, EVEN WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT WITH THEIR SEAT BELT FASTENED. AFTER AWHILE, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON CONSISTENTLY, AS WELL AS THE SEAT BELT LIGHT. THE CAR NOW HAS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG PERMANENTLY DISABLED. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE FOR A FRONT PASSENGER AS THERE IS NO WAY TO ENABLE THE AIRBAG MANUALLY. I WAS INFORMED BY BMW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL (2007 328I) FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, HOWEVER MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR EITHER THE RECALL, OR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AS IT IS ONLY MODELS WITH A CERTAIN PART NUMBER. *TR
BOTH REAR LIGHT HOUSINGS HAVE MELTED FROM SOME SORT OF SHORT OR GROUNDING ISSUE. *TR
DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPEN LEAVING ME LOCKED OUT OF THE CAR AND STRANDED. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED 300 MILES TO GET IT BACK HOME WHERE A BMW REPAIR PLACE WAS AVAILABLE. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT DOOR ACTUATORS AT A COST OF $600.00 JUST TO GET BACK INSIDE MY CAR. IF A BABY WAS TRAPPED IN THE CAR IT COULD OF DIED BY THE TIME IT WAS TO GET ANYONE TO HELP GET THE DOORS OPEN. THE MOST DANGEROUS DESIGN I'VE EVER HEARD OF. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WILL NOT WORK AND NO WAY TO GET OUT OF THE CAR IF IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS INSIDE. *TR
FAULT CODE "PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION" APPEARS ON THE VEHICLE. NO ACCIDENT THE CODE IS FAULTY. CODE COULD AFFECT THE PASSENGER IF VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN COLLISION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 335I. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE BY USING THE EMERGENCY KEY ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V044000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
INJECTORS 1-3 HAVE FAILED. LOOKED UP BMW CUSTOMER TSB'S AND FOUND (SI B13 14 10) CUSTOMER LETTER DESCRIBING A KNOWN FAILING PART WITH SPECIFIC PART NUMBERS THAT CORRELATE. I HAVE THESE PART NUMBERS CURRENTLY INSTALLED IN MY CAR AND FAILING. MY CAR WAS TAKEN IN PREVIOUSLY FOR A RELATED TSB DUE TO FAULTY FUEL PUMP AND SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT LOOK INTO THE REST OF THE FUEL SYSTEM. **A LETTER WAS SENT TO ME ABOUT THE FUEL PUMP AND SOFTWARE UPDATE. I DID NOT REQUEST SERVICE OR HAVE ANY ISSUES AT THE TIME. NOW THAT MY "EXTENDED SERVICE" FOR THESE PARTS IS UP, BMW IS NOT WILLING TO HELP! I THINK THIS IS BS CONSIDERING 1. THE DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE CHANGED THE KNOWN FAULTY PART DURING MY PREVIOUS SERVICE. 2. WHY WAS THIS NOT FOLLOWED UP ON BY BMWNA SINCE ITS ALL PART OF THE FUEL SYSTEM? *TR
HI, I THINK, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT BMW HAS TO FIX. MY AUTOMATIC CAR LOCK GETS STUCK AND I CAN ONLY OPEN DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOESN'T OPEN. THE MANUAL LEVER THAT IS SUPPOSED TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND BACK DOOR DOESN'T OPEN THE DOOR. MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE STUCK AND SOME HOW MANUALLY THEY CRAWLED OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. IT WAS VERY STRESSFUL AND I WAS WONDERING IF MY SON WAS 20YRS OLD, HOW CAN HE COME THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE FROM THE BACK SEAT. BMW IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS NOT RECALLED THE CARS TO FIX THE MANUAL OVERRIDE WHEN THE AUTOMATIC DOOR OPENER DOESN'T WORK. *TR
THE ELECTRICAL DOOR LOCK FAILED AND PREVENTED THE DRIVER'S DOOR TO UNLOCK FROM THE INSIDE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR. THERE IS NO MANUAL WAY TO UNLOCK CAR DOOR FROM INSIDE. *TR
THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. A KNOWN AND CONSISTENT PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE, YET NO RECALL. A FAULTY LOCK MECHANISM IN THE STEERING COLUMN COULD LEAD TO A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
I PARKED THE CAR AT WORK AT 7:30 AM. AT NOON A CO-WORKER NOTIFIED ME THAT MY CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE IN THE CABIN. I WENT OUTSIDE AND SAW THIS AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. I WAITED FOR THEM TO SHOW, AND OPENED THE DOOR AS SMOKE POURED OUT FROM THE CABIN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID THERE WAS AN ACTIVE FIRE IN THE GLOVEBOX. IT LOOKS LIKE IT STARTED AROUND THE BLOWER MOTOR FOR THE AC AND THE FUSE BOX . MY INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED ON 3 OCCASIONS CAUSING ME TO FAIL SMOG INSPECTION THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. *TR
GOING APPROX. 55-60 MPH, SUDDEN NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, ONCE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SHUT DOWN THEN RESTART AND DRIVE FOR ABOUT 200FT THEN WENT INTO LIMP MODE, STAYED IN LIMP MODE UNTIL I GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 DAYS LATER. TRIED RESTARTING TWICE THE FOLLOWING DAY WHICH RESULTED IN 3-6 SEC CRANK TIME THEN ONCE STARTED IT WOULD HAVE LOW THROTTLE RESPONSE WITH HEAVY VIBRATION, AFTER ABOUT 10 SECS IT WOULD GO IN LIMP MODE AGAIN WITH HEAVIER CHUGGING AND VIBRATION AND EVENTUALLY SHUTDOWN WITH 7 SECS WITH A "CHOKING" SOUND. LACK OF FUEL. *TR
PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR FAILED (CODE 93C3), DISABLING POTENTIAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. APPARENTLY THIS PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE EXPAND THIS RECALL. BMW HAS REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNDER THE RECALL, SO WE PAID NEARLY $1,200 TO REPLACE THE FAULTY OC3 MAT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR 15-20 MINUTES, THE YELLOW ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND QUICKLY TURNED TO RED, WITHIN 5 SECONDS. THE CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND MY SPEED QUICKLY BEGAN TO SLOW. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE CAR WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO ACCELERATION WHICH NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. MY CAR WAS ROLLING TO A STOP ON HE HIGHWAY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE. HOWEVER, THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 15-20 MINUTES. *TR
AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH REMAIN LIT AT ALL TIMES. ADDITIONALLY, THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG DISABLED" INDICATOR REMAINS LIT AT ALL TIMES. THERE IS A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR MAT ISSUE WHICH CAUSED THESE PROBLEMS, YET APPARENTLY NOT FOR MY VIN. THE DISABLED PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, AND CLEARLY MY VIN SHOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL. *TR
ENGINE MOUNT BOLTS: WAS DRIVING OUR CAR YESTERDAY AND WENT OVER SOME TRAIN TRACKS. THEY WERE BUMPY BUT NOT JARRING OR EXCESSIVE. RIGHT AFTER THAT A STRONG VIBRATION STARTED GOING THROUGH THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR HOME AND FOUND THE FOUR BOLTS HOLDING THE MOTOR MOUNT BRACKET TO THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD ALL SHEARED OR FALLEN OUT. THE ENGINE IS NOW SITTING AT AN ANGLE. *JS
I HAVE A COMPLAINT/SITUATION WITH MY 2007 BMW 328IX SEDAN. BMW REFUSES TO REPAIR AT THEIR COST A SIGNIFICANT LIFE SAFETY FUEL PROBLEM. ON AUGUST 1, 2014 WHILE DRIVING ALONG A PAVED STREET IN PULLMAN WASHINGTON, THE CARS ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO CAMP BMW IN SPOKANE WASHINGTON FOR EXAMINATION AND REPAIR. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST ABOUT $700 AND WOULD BE REPAIRED THAT DAY. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE REP WHO SAID THEY DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM TO BE WORSE THAN EXPECTED. THE FUEL PUMP HAD A DRAW TUBE THAT DREW FUEL TO THE FUEL PUMP AND I WAS TOLD IT FELL OFF AND THEY WERE TRYING UNSUCCESSFULLY TO FISH IT OUT OF THE FUEL TANK, AND THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE READY THAT DAY. I STARTED AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER BMW'S OF APPROXIMATELY THE SAME AGE/MODEL. WHAT WAS ALARMING WAS THAT COMMENTS I WAS SEEING INDICATED THAT THE DRAW TUBE THAT FELL OFF IN OTHER BMW'S HAD DONE SO BECAUSE THE FUEL GRADE REQUIRED FOR BMW'S WERE CORROSIVE TO THE DRAW TUBE AND THE FUEL ATE AWAY AT THE TUBES UNTIL THEY FELL OFF WITH THE SAME RESULT OF IMMEDIATE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. INDICATIONS FROM OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM INDICATED THAT DEALERSHIPS TOLD THEM THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, TANK AND DRAW TUBE FOR UPWARDS OF $3,000. A REPLACEMENT TANK AND FUEL TANK WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN ANOTHER 7 YEARS OR LESS AND IT'S A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR NOT TO MENTION A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. MY SERVICE REP CONTACTED BMW ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND BMW TOLD HIM THEY WOULD CREDIT MY REPAIRS FOR THE SUM OF $500 BRING MY COST FOR THE REPAIRS IN EXCESS OF $1,900.
STEERING COLUMN LOCK FAILED AND STRANDED CONSUMER. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE IN THE 2007 328XI AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS DONE NOTHING OTHER THAN FORCE THE CONSUMER TO MAKE EXPENSIVE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING/ENGINEERING FLAW. *JS

THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK HAS CEASED TO OPERATE ON MY 2007 BMW 328I. IT DOES NOT UNLOCK WITH EITHER THE KEY FOB OR THE MAIN UNLOCK SWITCH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF THERE WERE ANY KIND OF EMERGENCY INVOLVING THIS DOOR NEEDING TO BE OPENED. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN A HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR STARTED VIBRATING SEVERELY, SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE, ENGINE ALMOST DYING AND I WAS FORCED TO TAKE THE SHOULDER LANE AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT ONLY WHITE SMOKE WITH FUEL SMELL COMING OUT OF TAIL PIPE, BUT I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SLOWLY TO HOME. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND EVENTUALLY WAS TOLD THAT ENGINE IS COMPLETELY SHOT - 3 OR 4 CYLINDERS WERE CRACKED, COMBUSTION FAILURE, ETC. MECHANIC CAN'T FIX IT WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE ENGINE WHICH HE ESTIMATED AT LEAST $7,000.00. GEICO WON'T COVER SINCE THEY CONSIDERED MY CAR ISSUE STRICTLY A "MECHANICAL FAILURE". BMW CONCORD IS UNRESPONSIVE TO MY REQUEST. I'M ON MY OWN HERE AND NOW I'M PAYING FOR THE RENTAL CAR FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS NOW WHICH GEICO DOESN'T FULLY OR EVEN PARTIALLY COVER DUE TO THE MECHANICAL FAILURE STATE OF MY CAR. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR AND MY USAGE IS LESS THAN AVERAGE. DRIVING IT PRIMARILY TO WORK (ANTIOCH,CA - CONCORD, CA) AND BACK HOME WHICH IS ONLY APPROX 40 MILES ROUND TRIP. MY DRIVING HABITS ARE VERY GOOD, CAR WAS NEVER ABUSED. I TOOK GOOD CARE OF THE CAR, HAD IT SERVICED AND MAINTAINED REGULAR BASIS. I'VE BEEN WORKING FROM HOME PERMANENTLY FOR OVER A YEAR NOW SO MY MILEAGE USAGE IS VERY LOW AND GEICO KNOWS ABOUT IT AS I PROVIDED PROOF OF LOW MILEAGE USAGE. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY BMW - A PERFORMANCE CAR AND THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE - WITH LOW MILEAGE, NEVER ABUSED, WELL MAINTAINED - COULD GO THIS WORSE. NOW THE CAR SITS IN MY GARAGE DEAD, NOT FIXABLE, NOT ABLE TO TRADE IT. I'M SO FRUSTRATED AND VERY UPSET THAT THIS HAPPENED AT A TIME WHEN I'M EXTREMELY BUSY AT WORK, AND JUST ADDS TO MY STRESS LEVEL THAT I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK FROM JUST DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING MY BMW 328I 2007 AND HAD PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. APPARENTLY ONE OF THE DOOR LOCK FUSES BLEW. I AM UNABLE TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE PASSENGER DOORS WITH THE KEY FOB NOR FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. I AM ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MANUALLY BUT THAT IS IT. IN OTHER WORDS, THE PASSENGERS IN MY CAR COULD NOT MANUALLY OPEN THEIR DOORS AT ALL. THEY HAD TO CRAWL THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE! THANK GOD I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT, THERE WASN'T A FIRE. I'M NOW BEING TOLD THAT BMW HAS TO "RUN A FULL DIAGNOSTIC" BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN ANY PASSENGER DOORS OF THE VEHICLE FOR ENTRANCE OR EXIT UNLESS I POTENTIALLY SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUE. THIS FAILURE SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHEN I CONTACTED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS, THEY STATED: "THANK YOU FOR CONTACTING BMW OF NORTH AMERICA, LLC REGARDING OUR AMENDED VOLUNTARY RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT FOR CERTAIN 2006-2007 MODELS DEPENDING UPON SEAT TYPE. INCLUDED 3 SERIES ARE 2006-2007 3 SERIES SEDANS WITH SPORTS SEATS THAT WERE PRODUCED BETWEEN DECEMBER 2005 ' SEPTEMBER 2006. EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I HADN'T NOTICED ANY CHANGES EXCEPT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. THEN I NEEDED A JUMP AND IT TOOK RIGHT AWAY. THE NEXT TIME I NEEDED A JUMP IT WOULDN'T TAKE. TOOK THE BATTERY TO AUTOZONE AND HAD IT CHECKED AND IT WAS FINE. SO REALIZED IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. ID TRY TO START THE CAR BUT NOTHING HAPPENS NOT EVEN A CLICKING NOISE NOTHING. WHILE TRYING TO PASS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY I WAS TRYING TO EXCEL SPEED GET PASS SEMI TRUCK. WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR LOSS POWER AND ALMOST CAUSED A HUGE ACCIDENT. I WASN'T PREPARED FOR THAT, OR HAVE HEARD OF SUCH A THING. AFTER RESEARCHING IT SEAMS TO BE A BMW PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. I LITERALLY JUST GOT MY CAR BACK FROM MY LOCAL BMW DEALER IN CHARLOTTSVILLE VA SAME DAY.SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR AND PLANNED ON KEEPING IT FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 7 YRS OR MORE.
