MY CAR OVERHEAT WHENEVER I TURN ON THE HEATER IN THE CAR. THE CAR DOES NOT OVERHEAT WHEN THE HEAT IS TURNED OFF.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ONE DAY, I MADE A QUICK STOP, TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF AND WENT BACK TO MY CAR TO START IT AND NOTHING. ONLY TO FIND THE STEERING LOCK LIGHT. MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START NO OTHER INDICATION OF POWER BESIDE INTERIOR LIGHT. I THINK THIS PRESENTS AN UNSAFE CONDITION, THAT WOULD LEAVE PEOPLE STRANDED SOME WHERE (THANK GOD IT WASN'T MY WIFE AND 4 KIDS STRANDED WITH THE CAR). NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO A BMW SERVICE. I AM REALLY SHOCKED THAT THEIR IS NOT ALREADY A RECALL FOR THIS, WITH THE HIGH AMOUNT OF CASES I HAVE READ ABOUT ON FORUMS. I PRAY SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
I HAVE A 2007 BMW 328I WITH 120,000 MILES. MY CAR STARTED TO SMELL LIKE GAS JUST ABOUT A MONTH AGO, EVERY TIME I GO INTO MY CAR IT SMELLS LIKE GAS IT GIVES ME A HEADACHE.

2007 328 I. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VALVE HEATER SAFETY RECALL. *LD *JS
THIS INVOLVES RECALLS 17V-676 (BLOWER MOTOR WIRING) AND 1V-683 (PCVC VALVE HATER. RECALLS DATE BACK TO OCTOBER 2017. BMW KEEPS TELLING ME THEY AREN'T IN A POSITION TO SERVICE MY VEHICLE ON THESE RECALLS HAS NOT DESPITE SEVERAL INQUIRIES. RECALLS DATE BACK TO OCTOBER/ NOVEMBER 2017 (9 MONTHS). THAT SEEMS VERY UNREASONABLE TO ME.

THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE AFTER AUGUST OF 2018. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE ARE TWO OUTSTANDING (FOR WHICH I HAVE RECEIVED WRITTEN NOTICES) DEFECTS ON THE CAR. I GOT THESE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017. I HAVE CALLED BMW SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A STATUS AND THEY HAVE, ON EACH OCCASION, TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT YET ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS. IT IS NOW 10 MONTHS LATER. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS LONGER THAN ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR ITEMS THAT DEMAND WRITTEN NOTIFICATION OF DEFECTS. SO, I AM WRITING TO ASK YOU TO ASSIST IN GETTING THESE RECALL ITEMS ADDRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
BMW DEALER REPLACED DRIVER AIRBAGS, BUT NO PASSENGER AIRBAGS, STATING PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND VEHICLE WOULD REMAIN ON THE ACTIVE RECALL LIST UNTIL PASSENGER AIRBAGS WERE REPLACED; THEN THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE OFF THE RECALL LIST. NOW DEALER STATES SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER ON RECALL LIST, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACEMENT IS NO LONGER REQUIRED. AND REFUSES TO HONOR TOTAL RECALL, LEAVING PASSENGERS AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH.

BLOWER MOTOR : THIS RECALL INVOLVES THE WIRING FOR THE SYSTEM, KNOWN AS A BLOWER-MOTOR, THAT CONTROLS AIR FLOW FOR THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. OVER TIME, THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE WIRING AND THIS SYSTEM COULD DETERIORATE AND, IN RARE CASES, COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING. BMW HAS INSTRUCTED PEOPLE WITH THESES VEHICLES TO AVOID PARKING IN THEIR GARAGE DUE TO POTENTIAL FIRE RISKS. PCV VALVE: THIS RECALL INVOLVES AN ENGINE COMPONENT KNOWN AS THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER. THE PCV VALVE HEATER MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PRODUCED TO SPECIFICATIONS. OVER TIME, IT COULD DETERIORATE AND, IN RARE CASES, COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING. NOTIFICATION OF RECALL OCCURRED 10/25/2017, AS OF JANUARY 23, 2018. BMW STILL HAS NO REMEDY OR ANTICIPATED DATE FOR COMPLETING NEEDED REPAIRS.

RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES IN OCTOBER 2017 FOR POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER AND BLOWER MOTOR WIRING. BMW HAS NOT CONTACTED US SINCE THEN TO DO THE REPAIRS, AND RECALL WEBSITES STATE THEY'RE NOT YET READY TO DO REPAIRS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR! THIS IS A FAILURE ON THEIR PART TO REMEDY A SAFETY MEASURE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328XI. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V676000 (Electrical System) and 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced an unstated failure and was no longer driving the vehicle. Parts distribution disconnect. The failure mileage was unknown
I WENT IN TO HAVE A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE A BRAKE FLUSH BY THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP I STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH STEERING AND BRAKES. THEY INFORMED ME TO BRING CAR BACK IN TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE CAR HAS NOW BECOME INOPERABLE. THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT STATING THAT THE ISSUE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OIL CHANGE AND BRAKE FLUSH BUT WOULD MOST LIKELY BE A PERSISTENT VALVE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR HAS TWO RECALLS IN THE PAST WEEK AND YET THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT ON MD 495 HEADING TOWARD SILVER SPRING. I HAVE TRIED TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH BMW OF SILVER SPRING AND BMW OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.

ROCKVILLE BMW IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V683000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. *TT
CAR OVER HEATS AND SMOKING
THE CENTRAL LOCKING FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING. THE UNLOCKING DOES NOT WORK THROUGH THE KEY FOB OR THE CENTRAL UNLOCK/LOCK BUTTON WITHIN THE VEHICLE. ONLY THE DRIVERSIDE DOOR IS ABLE TO BE UNLOCKED BY PULLING ON THE INNER DOOR HANDLE. THE OTHER 3 DOORS ARE UNABLE TO BE OPENED AND POSE A SEVERE SAFETY RISK. THE FIX PER BMW IS TO REPLACE 15A FUSES WITH 20A. THIS WAS ALREADY DONE TO MY VEHICLE IN THE PAST AND THE PROBLEM HAS APPEARED AGAIN. DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY OVERNIGHT HAS ALSO BEEN A FIX, BUT THAT DOES NOT WORK EITHER.
THE SEAT BAG SENSOR IS CONTINUOUSLY ON. THERE IS NO ONE IN THE SEAT. THIS STARTED AT ABOUT 65K, THE CAR NOW HAS 106K...IS THIS DANGEROUS TO A PASSENGER? OF COURSE, THIS SEEMS TO ACTIVATE THE SEATBELT LIGHT ALSO...
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILING
WHILE DRIVING BMW, 328I, 2007 ON A HEAVILY USED HIGHWAY, I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A TURN TO AN OFF RAMP WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. FORTUNATELY DUE THE ANGLE OF THE WHEELS I MISSED A RETAINING WALL AND AN ISLAND SEPARATING ON-COMING TRAFFIC. UNFORTUNATELY WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED I IMPEDED TRAFFIC UNTIL A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED (2 HOURS). THIS OCCURRED AT THE TURN-OFF OF BELT PARKWAY (QUEENS, NY) AND VAN WYCK EXPRESSWAY (ENTRANCE TO JFK AIRPORT). ON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE OTHER BMWS HAVING THE SAME DEFECT.
THE TWO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLA HAVE BEEN IN INTERIM PHASE SINCE OCTOBER OF 2017. I PERSONNALY KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS THE SAME RECALLS AND THEIR PARTS HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. I WANT MY VEHICLE REPAIRED ASAP
POWER STEERING PULLEY COMES INTO CONTACT OF AXLE CARRIER, IT'S A CLEAR DESIGN FLAW AND THIS CAR HASN'T HAD MUCH RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DONE, THE COMPANY KNOWINGLY PUT AN UNSAFE BETA CAR ON THE MARKET. MY BELT BROKE BECAUSE OF THE PULLEY TO FRAME CONTACT AND STALLED ON THE 405 FREEWAY AND ENDED UP GETTING INJURED WHEN THE CAR WAS REAR ENDED AT 60MPH. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN WITHIN BMW'S SYSTEM DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE AND THEY WANT CONSUMERS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS. I SPOKE TO CORPORATE AND THEY HAVE GIVEN ME THE COLD SHOULDER SO FAR. MY MISSION IS TO GET THIS ESCALATED TO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT.
FUSE # 56 AND #57 BLEW LEADING TO THE INABILITY TO OPEN ANY DOORS USING THE FOB. THE EMERGENCY KEY ONLY UNLOCKS THE DRIVER DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE OTHER DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED UNLESS THE FUSE IS REPLACED. IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, HAD THE FUSES BEEN DAMAGED FOR SOME REASON, AND THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE OR SOME OTHER REASON NECESSITATED AN EMERGENCY EGRESS, THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER AND LIKELY THE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN THE DOORS IN A POWER FAILURE. BMW HAS NO EMERGENCY DOOR LATCH TO BYPASS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AS OTHER CARS DO.
THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE RIGHT BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. THE FIREFIGHTERS SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE CAR WAS OFF AND PARKED IN A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT. THIS HAPPENED ON 9/22/17. SOMEONE SAW THE CAR ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THIS HAPPENED AROUND 6:00PM. SEVEN HOURS LATER, THERE WERE STILL BUZZING SOUNDS COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH. WE WERE TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR!
MY 2007 BMW 328I, DID NOT START AND IT SHOWED THAT IT HAD A LOCK STERRING WHEEL. ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH MY DRIVER SIDE MIRROR BEING FOLDED BACK WORLD AND DID NOT ALLOW ME TO POSITION TO A SAFE VIEW. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE STERRING WHEEL WAS LOCKED.
LEFT TURN BULB SOCKET BURNED OUT, DAMAGING THE HEADLIGHT
DEALER ONLY REPLACED DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG, STATING PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACEMENTS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE OFF THE RECALL LIST, SO NOW THEY CLAIM THAT THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER RECALL. I HAVE TWO BMW'S THAT HAVE THIS RECALL AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACEMENTS ARE OUTSTANDING WITH NO PROSPECT OF REPLACEMENT, LEAVING PASSENGERS AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION IN FEBUARY OF 2017. THE DEALER (GLOBAL IMPORTS, 500 INTERSTATE NORTH PKWY SE, ATLANTA, GA 30339) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE AVALIABLE, BUT NEEDED TO BE ORDERED. THE CONTACT REQUESTED TO HAVE THE PARTS ORDERED TWICE, BUT DID NOT HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE DEALER GUARANTEED THAT THE REMEDY WAS AVALIABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHECKERED FLAG BMW (5225 VIRGINIA BEACH BLVD, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23462; 866-414-7820 OR 757-490-1111) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE VOLUNTARY RECALL REGARDING THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

THE FAILURE PROGRESSED TO THE POINT THAT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STARTER AND DRIVE BELT TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

IS THE INFORMATION ON THE SITE INCORRECT THAT THESE WOULD BE READY? I AM CONFUSED ABOUT THE INFORMATION AS RPESENTED ON THE SITES. I AM MOST CONCERNED DUE TO THE AGE OF MY CAR. TAKATA AIRBAG. I RECEIVED MY AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2016. SINCE THEN, I CALLED MY BMW DEALER ASKING FOR INSTALLATION OF REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID IT WASN'T AVAILABLE. I LATER VISITED THE DEALER ON AUGUST 2, 2017. THEY, AGAIN, SAID THE AIRBAG WASN'T AVAILABLE. I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THEY SAID I SHOULD HAVE THE AIRBAG BY LABOR DAY. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTICE OF MY AIRBAG BEING AVAILABLE BY LABOR DAY. THE NHTSA SITE SAYS IT'S AVAILABLE. HOW DO I GET BMW TO INSTALL IT IF THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT'S UNAVAILABLE?

IT WAS A HUMID SUMMER (JULY) MORNING BMW FAULT COULD HAVE KILLED MANY, A VERY DANGEROUS PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD. I WAS STRANDED FOR HOURS UNABLE TO DRIVE BMW. *ADDING INSULT TO INJURY THE HIGH HUMIDITY COULD HAVE SET-OFF THE AIRBAG FAULT UNRESOLVED BY BMW 18 MONTHS & COUNTING. DESPITE REPEATED PHONE CALLS TO BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND STOPPING AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN BY BMW FOR A RECALL REGARDING A SPONTANEOUS FIRE THAT CAN OCCUR WITH MY VEHICLE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS GARAGED AND NOT IN USE. CUSTOMER SERVICE REPEATEDLY TELLS ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE. I LEARNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM A YEAR AND A HALF AGO FROM THE NEWS. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM BMW, ALTHOUGH I VERIFIED WITH THEM THEY HAVE MY VIN NUMBER AND MY CAR IS PART OF THE RECALL. I HAVE AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT ISSUE. COMMONLY DEFINED AS A 93A8 - CODE BY BMW. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG TO GET DEACTIVATED DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THE TRIGGERING CIRCUIT FROM THE AIRBAG. THIS IS A CHRONIC BMW PROBLEM, WITH MULTIPLE REPORTS FROM THE CONSUMER FOR THE SAME ISSUE. (I'VE ATTACHED FORUM REPORTS) I HAVE A CAR, THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN AS THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG IS COMPLETELY DEACTIVATED INDICATING A FAULT IN THE CIRCUIT. BMW IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND IS INDICATING, I WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE CAR IN TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES AND REPLACEMENT OF AIRBAG MODULE/HARNESS & AIRBAGS. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE WITH A FAILING TRIGGERING CIRCUIT DURING GENERAL DRIVE. MANY CONSUMERS HAVE REPORTED ON THE SAME ISSUE AND THIS CAUSES THE AIRBAG TO NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT
