THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,821.
BMW RECALL DATED 11/12/2013, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000. RECALL UP TO 76,565 UNITS FOR FAILURES OF FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT PROTECTION MAT. AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. CONTACTED BMW AND WAS TOLD MY VIN DOES NOT FALL INTO BMW RANGE BUT I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE EXACT FAILURE SINCE YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AT 3 -5 MPH WITH NO ONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW 2007, CURRENTLY HAS 83,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. BMW HAS LIKELY NOT IDENTIFIED THE TRUE VIN RANGE OF VEHICLES IMPACTED BY DEFECTIVE OCCUPANCY MATS AND REFUSES TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT AND TOLD ME IT WAS "CUSTOMERS COST" BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN DEC., 2006 AND THE RECALL ONLY WENT THROUGH CARS MANUFACTURED UP TILL SEPT. 30 2006 MANUFACTURE DATE. I THINK ASKED HER IF THEY PUT IN A NEW PART ON THE VEHICLES IN DECEMBER VS. SEPTEMBER OF 2006 AND SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW. IT WOULD SEEM LIKE A LOGICAL ITEM TO HAVE IN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE HELP TOOLS INSTEAD OF REFUSING TO FIX A CRITICAL SAFETY DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. I SAID THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM POSTING IT ON THE INTERNET AND BMW SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT THEY MANUFACTURED WHICH SHE REALLY DIDN'T CARE, I GUESS SHE DOESN'T CARE IF MY AIR BAG DEPLOYS OR NOT. I SAID TO HER YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER CLASS ACTION SUIT AFTER A FEW PEOPLE DIE WHICH SHE DIDN'T REALLY CARE.
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP & VACUUM LINES TANK 1 & 2 FAILURES. TURBOCHARGER & WASTE GATE FAILURE AS WELL, FUEL SENDING UNITS DEVELOPED HAIRLINE FRACTURES THAT CAUSE FUEL TO LEAK ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD LIKELY TO CASE A FIRE WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE CAR LUCKILY THE MECHANIC NOTICE THE LEAKAGE. I HAVE A 2007 BMW 335I WITH A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAVE BEEN A NON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM FROM THE RELEASE OF THE CAR. BMW REFUSES TO HELP THERE OWNERS EVEN WHEN THE ESTIMATED REPAIR IS ABOUT 2000. VEHICLE STALLS TWICE (2 TIMES) ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. VEHICLE LOST POWER COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. BOTH INCIDENTS HAPPENED WHEN VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT 20-25 MPH. ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON LATEST INCIDENT. FIRST STALL HAPPENED AT 99500 MILES AND 2ND STALL HAPPENED AT 100340 MILES. THERE WAS NO LIGHT INDICATOR WARNING OR SIGNS OR DISTRESS ON ENGINE BEFORE POWER WAS COMPLETELY LOST. CAR STALLED IMMEDIATELY AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED.

WHEN DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER, THE VEHICLE WILL RECOGNIZE THAT THERE IS AN ERROR IN THE PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND SEATBELT LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. THIS CAUSES A POTENTIAL THREAT TO SAFETY. THIS ISSUE IS RECOGNIZE IN ANOTHER COMPLAINT, BUT NOT EXTENDED TO NEWER MODELS. THE VEHICLE WITH THIS ISSUE IS A 2007 BMW 335I WITH SPORT AND PREMIUM PACKAGES, BUILD DATE IN MARCH 2007.
WHILE PARKING THE CAR AT 5 MPH EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BLOCK WALL 8 FEET IN DISTANCE. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
THE STEERING LOCK WARNING LIGHT IN RED DISPLAY. I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO REPLACE THE STEERING LOCK "ELV" AND PROGRAM NEW CONTROL MODULE. IT COST $1,975.00 TO REPLACE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THIS MIGHT BE KNOWN PROBLEM TO BMW, BUT YET, I HAVE NEVER HEARD ABOUT IT, UNTIL THE INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME. WHEN THE WARNING SYMBOL DISPLAYED, IT DISPLAY EVERY TIME EVEN WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR.

TAKATA RECALL THE MINNETONKA, MINNESOTA BMW DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME ON APRIL 4 2016 THAT DUE TO THE RECALL ON TAKATA'S PSDI-5 DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATORS IMPACTING MY VEHICLE, THERE WAS A 'SALES HOLD' ON MY VEHICLE. THIS MEANS THAT THE BMW DEALERSHIP WILL NOT OR CANNOT SELL THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER CONSUMER UNTIL THE DEFECT IS REMEDIED. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE APPROXIMATE EXPECTED TIME FOR PARTS TO BE AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WOULD BE 12 MONTHS. WHEN I CONTACTED BMW CORPORATE ON APRIL 6 2016, THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AROUND 12 MONTHS. FURTHERMORE, BMW CORPORATE IS NOT OFFERING IMPACTED VEHICLE OWNERS COMPENSATION FOR THE DRASTIC REDUCTION IN VEHICLE VALUE RELATED TO THE SALES HOLD AND THE EXTENDED TIME TO REMEDY THE DEFECT. THE EXCESSIVE REMEDY TIME FOR THIS DEFECT IS UNACCEPTABLE IN THE ABSENCE OF COMPENSATION FOR THE SEVERE DETERIORATION IN VEHICLE VALUE AS I INTEND TO SELL MY VEHICLE IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS.
WIRING INSULATION CRACKING DEGRADING LEAVING EXPOSED BARE WIRING CAUSING SHORTS AND POSSIBLE FIRE IN HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESSES, WIRES ARE STATIONARY DO NOT MOVE. INSULATION IS CRAKED AND FALLING OFF WIRES. NOTICED FAILURE DURING BULB REPLACEMENT. MADE THIS COMPLAINT AFTER READING ABOUT NUMEROUS OTHER BMW OWNERS NOTICING SAME FAULT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

AS THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY DEVICE THAT COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH ?.. I WOULD LIKE THIS REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. TAKATA RECALL WE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NEED FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW AIRBAGS IN MARCH 2016. WE WENT INTO DEALER 2X BUT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. IT IS SIX MONTHS LATER, AND STILL WE HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION THAT REPLACEMENT FOR FAULTY AIRBAG IS AVAILABLE. THIS COULD RESULT IN FATAL CONSEQUENCES, THE OFFICIAL NOTICE FROM BMW STATED. THE DELAY IS DANGEROUS AND UNCONSCIONABLE.

MANY MONTHS AGO A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2007 BMW 3281I CARS. NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS SPRING (2016) I CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO SAID IT HAD HEARD NOTHING FROM BMW. IS NHTSA MONITORING BMW? IF NOT, WHY NOT? IT'S NOT BEYOND THE REALM FOR BOTH PARTIES TO HOPE THAT THE ISSUE WILL BE FORGOTTEN ABOUT AND IT WILL GO AWAY. MY DEALER IS BMW OF FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA. BOTH DEALER AND DISTRIBUTOR NEED TO BE TOLD TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE RECALL.

I WAS INFORMED BY BMW DEALER PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND IT WOULD BE REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 2016. ACCORDING TO DEALER THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE PARTS - PLEASE EXPEDITE THIS SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

ONE YEAR HAS PASSED, AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY FURTHER NOTICE REGARDING AVAILABILITY OF PARTS TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I SPOKE WITH MY LOCAL DEALER, SEATTLE BMW, ON 03/28/17, AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS FOR FINAL REMEDY ON THE VEHICLE. PER THE NOTICE, I AM NOTIFYING THE NHTSA ADMINISTRATOR THAT THE REMEDY HAS NOT BEEN MADE AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED RECALL NO. 16V-071 FROM BMW IN MARCH 2016. IT HAS NOW BEEN 13 MONTHS AND BMW HAS NOT RECALLED THE CAR AND REPAIRED THE AIRBAGS. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA "TAKATA RECALL EXPANSION: WHAT CONSUMERS NEED TO KNOW", SINCE I LIVE IN ZONE A AND THE CAR IS OLDER THAN 2011 THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED BY NOW. I'M FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST BMW FOR NOT RECALLING AND REPAIRING MY 2007 BMW 328I AS IT LEAVES ME AND MY PASSENGERS AT RISK.
TAKATA RECALL....STILL AWAITING UPDATE/NOTICE/REPAIR/ANYTHING FROM BMW NORTH AMERICA SINCE I WAS INITIALLY NOTIFIED IN MARCH 2016. IT IS NOW AUGUST 2017! I HAVE A CAR THAT I AM INSURING, SITTING UNUSED IN MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I CAN'T SELL IT, OR TRADE IT IN DUE TO DECREASED VALUE OF AIRBAG LIGHT ON, AND LACK OF REPAIR. IT IS COMING UP FOR STATE INSPECTION SOON, AND WON'T PASS BECAUSE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS A VERY FRUSTRATING, UNFAIR AND WORSE, POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS OR FATAL SITUATION. I FIND IT INEXCUSABLE THAT IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF SINCE FIRST NOTIFICATION, AND A REMEDY HAS STILL NOT BEEN MADE. BMW NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS IN A MORE TIMELY AND REASONABLE MANNER. IT IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS IS TAKING SO LONG. IF REPAIRS CANNOT BE MADE, BMW SHOULD BUY THE VEHICLE BACK AND COMPENSATE THE OWNERS FOR LOSS OF USE PLUS FAIR MARKET VALUE.

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A HEAD, ELBOW, SHOULDER, ANKLE, AND BACK INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED FOR THE INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BATTERY CABLE CONNECTOR WENT BAD IN OUR CAR. THIS WAS RECALLED BY BMW FOR OUR TYPE OF CAR BUT OUR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FORCING US TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COST US OVER 300.00 TO REPAIR
THE DRIVE SHAFT SNAPPED IN HALF AT THE JOINT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE VIBRATION IN THE MOMENTS BEFORE IT HAPPENED. I WAS ON A CITY STREET AFTER JUST GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY.

PASSENGER SEAT MAT SENSOR HAS GONE BAD. THIS IS THE SAME TYPE OF RECALL AS THE TAKATA RECALL BUT BMW SAYS THAT THIS CAR ISN'T COVERED FOR THAT RECALL. RECALL COST OVER $1000.00 TO REPAIR FOR A AIRBAG SAFETY ISSUE. SEEMS TO EXTREMELY COMMON IN BMW'S. TOOK CAR TO BMW DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE ISSUE WITH THE CAR. SPOKE TO BMWUSA DIRECTLY AND THEY WON'T COVER REPAIR.

TAKATA RECALL - RECALL ISSUED FEBRUARY 2016. CALLED BMW OF NORTH AMERICA ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2016 TO CHECK STATUS OF RECALL AND OBTAIN RESOLUTION. REQUESTED REPLACEMENT PARTS BE EXPEDITED AND BMW AGREED. BUSINESS WAS TO CALL ME TO PROVIDE DETAILS ON EXPECTED DATE BMW OF SAN DIEGO WOULD RECEIVE PARTS. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. I CALLED BACK 3 DAYS LATER AND LEFT A MESSAGE WITH NO RETURN CALL. ON 10/24/16 I CALLED BMW OF NA TO OBTAIN AN UPDATE. WAS TOLD THE CASE WAS STILL OPEN AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXPEDITED WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF INITIAL CALL. I REQUESTED AN ALTERNATIVE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND WAS TOLD SOMETIMES THEY CAN GET AUTHORIZATION FOR A LOANER CAR, SO MY CASE WAS ESCALATED TO A CASE MANAGER. RECEIVED A CALL SAME DAY AND WAS NOW TOLD THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS AND MAY GET PARTS EARLY 2017! ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION WOULD NOT BE PROVIDED BECAUSE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DOES NOT REQUIRE BMW TO DO SO. THE AIR BAG MAY OR MAY NOT FAIL, BUT RESEARCH WAS DONE THAT FAILURE IS NOT LIKELY. SO TRY AGAIN NEXT YEAR. I'M RECEIVING THE RUN AROUND WITH A DIFFERENT ANSWER EACH TIME. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE THAT THE VEHICLE AIR BAG MAY FAIL. BMW IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RECALL OR ANY "PROMISES" THEY MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE DONE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY OTHER COMPANIES SUCH AS TOYOTA AND HONDA ARE CONCERNED FOR THEIR CLIENTS AND PROVIDE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION TO ENSURE SAFETY.
