MARCH 28, 2018 - DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, CAR SUDDENLY COMES TO A STOP AND SHOWS MESSAGE FUEL PUMP WITH CAR ON ROCK ICON. CAR GETS TOWED. NEXT DAY MECHANIC SAYS IT RAN OUT OF GAS, ADDED GAS STARTED THE CAR. MARCH 29, 2018 CAR STALLS AFTER 5 MILES NEAR THE RAMP OF EXIT. GET THE CAR TOWED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC. MECHANIC DOES NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. APRIL 14TH, 2018 - CAR STOPS ON THE FREEWAY. TOW IT TO MECHANIC MECHANIC SAYS THAT ITS RELATED TO FUEL TANK SENSOR. THIS CAUSES A WRONG READING OF LEVEL OF GAS IN THE CAR. MECHANIC CHANGES IT AND CAR RUNS OK FOR 2 MONTHS. JUNE 21, 2018 - CAR STOPS ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE SAME MESSAGE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WITH THE CAR ON ROCK ICON. I GET TOWING SERVICE TO ADD GAS AND WAIT FOR AN HOUR. RESTART THE CAR AND IT WORKS. THE MESSAGE IS GONE, THE ICON IS GONE. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME I WAS STRANDED ON THE FREEWAY.
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY BETWEEN 70-80 MPH. THE ENGINE STALLED AND I WAS UNABLE TO PRESS THE GAS. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF ON AN EXIT DUE TO MOMENTUM. AFTER SITTING IN A PARKING LOT FOR 30 MINUTES, THE CAR CRANKED BACK UP WITHOUT ANY ISSUE. THE STALLING ISSUE HAS OCCURRED TWICE.
MY SITUATION IS POWER SUPPLY RELATED, MY HEADLIGHTS AND PART OF MY CLUSTER DISPLAY CASH BOARD BEGAN FLICKERING, MAKING AN ELECTRICAL NOISE AND WITH THE SWITCH ON OFF POSSITION THE LIGHTS DID NOT WANT TO TUIRNO OFF. I NOTICE THIS ON AROUND JUNE OF 2018, I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME FROM EATING PIZZA, SMELL SOMETHING LIKE BURN PLASTIC, I ASKED MY WIFE DO YOU SMELL SOMETHING LIKE BURN RUBBER?, SHE SAID YES BUT WERE IS IT COMING FROM?, I PAID NOT MUCH MIND TO THIS LATER WHEN I GOT HOME I SMELLED IT AGAIN, LFELT THE CAR SOME WHAT HOT BUT THE SAMEL WAS NOT STRONG SO I PAID NO MIN, AFTER A FEW WEEKS I HAD TO CHANGE A WATER HOSE THEN ANOTHER WATER HOSE, THE WHEN I TUERN THE CAR OFF THE LIGHTS ON THE CAR AND THE TRIANGLE HAZARD LIGHT DID NOT WANT TO TURN OFF EVEN WITH THE LIGHT SWITCH ON THE OF POSSITION. MY 2009 328I BMW WAS LEFT AT THE AUTORIZED BMW SERVICE CENTER IN GUAYNABO, P.R. ON THE 18TH OF AUGOST 2018 AND IS STILL AT THIS SERVICE STATION BUT ALWAYS COME WITH AN EXCUSE TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I KNOW ITS RECALL RELATED BECAUSE ITS AN ELECTRICAL SITUATION BUT THE ADVISOR AT THE SERVICICE CENTER ALWAYS SAYS ITS NOT RECALL RELATED, AT FIRST THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE LIGHT PROBNLEM BUT THE NOISE CONTINIUED AND THAT THE NOISE CAME FROM THE RADIOS AMPLIFIER, THEN THEY SAID IT CAME FROM TYHE CARS FUSE BOX, NOE THEY SAY ITS THE CARS CAS BUT THA THIS IS NOT RECALL RELATED, I TOLD THEM THAT IF THIS CAS IS THE CODIFIED KEY ENTRY THAT THIS SHOULD BE RECAL;L RELATED BECAUSE ITS A POWER SUPPLY COMPONENT AND THATS AN ELECTRICAL PART SO ITS RECALL RELATED, THEY SAID ITS NOT RELATED BUT THAT THEY HAVE SENT FOR THE PART AND WOULD BE ARRIVING ON THE 2ED OF NOVEMBER OF 2018 AND THEY WILL INFORM ME WHEN THE PART ARRIVES AND THAT THEY ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THE PART AND THE SERVICE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR AS THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED OVER SIX MONTHS AGO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AFTER TWO DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BMW OF DALLAS (6200 LEMMON AVE, DALLAS, TX 75209, (972) 763-5528) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND WERE ON BACKORDER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, BUT DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR PACKAGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE GASKET. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WAS SOLD TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING HOME, POWERFUL IMPLOSION, GLASS EVERYWHERE.
THE ROOF IS LEAKING AT THE POINT WHERE THE TOP ATTACHED TO THE WINDSHIELD ON BOTH SIDES. AFTER IT RAINS OR CAR WASHED THE WATER WILL LEAK OUT AND FALL BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE DOOR. I'VE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAYS THE DRAIN GETS CLOGGED BUT IT'S BE OKAY FOR A MONTH OR SO AND THE PROBLEM RETURNS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, YOU CAN PRESS ON THE BREAKS AND THE WATER WILL DRAIN AND THE SAME GOES FOR STEPPING ON THE GAS.
THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FLEMINGTON BMW DEALER (908-788-2691, LOCATED AT 216 US-202, FLEMINGTON, NJ 08822) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME BY THE SAME DEALER. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. FE
2009 328 XI BMW WITH 120K FUEL PUMP JUST BREAKS. BMW REPLACED FOR FREE DUE TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND RECALL INFO,THIS SUCH BE A NATIONAL RECALL AS SOMEONES CAR CAN JUST STOP WHILE DRIVING,AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
2009 328XI BMW FIRST BATTERY GOES DEAD,ONE MONTH LATER CAR STOPS WHILE DRIVING,BMW SAID IT WAS FUEL PUMP AND HOSE,THEY FIXED THAT,WHILE AT DEALER THEY SAID FAULTY CODE CAME UP FOR ALTERNATOR . ALL THIS WITHIN 1 MONTH. NO SIGNS OF LIGHTS DIM,CAR NOT STARTING,HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN ALL AT ONCE AND WITH NO WARNING.SEEMS THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE.DEALER FIXED FUEL PUMP.BUT HOW DOES ALTERNATOR GO WITH NO SIGNS.
TAKATA RECALL: JUST CANT BELIEVE MY CAR JUST WENT DEAD WHILE DRIVING. THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP BUT NOBODY IS MAKING PEOPLE AWARE OF THIS SO IT CAN GET FIXED.IT WAS REALLY SCARY . BELT TENSIONER WAS REPLACED FROM BMW IN 2014. THEN BELT TENSIONER GOES BAD AGAIN IN 2016. STEERING SUPER TIGHT ,JUST REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP 10 MONTHS AGO..
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND IT JUST COMPLETE LOST POWER,I CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY DID SOME TESTING. KEEP IN MIND I JUST GOT A NEW BATTERY THREE MONTHS AGO,HAVE SHOWN NO SIGNS OF ANY POWER ,START UP ISSUES,. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A CAR WITH A HIGHER STANDARD JUST DIES. THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. ITS SEEMLY INTERESTING HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND BMW SHOULD BE ASHAMED WITH THEMSELVES NOT TO RECALL THIS ISSUE ,AT LEAST ADDRESS THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THE ISSUE..FUEL PUMP ISN'T SOMETHING THAT SHOULD GO AT 100K.VERY DISAPPOINTED. THE CAR WILL NOT START,I CAN GET A CRANK BUT NOTHING MORE.
THE WIRES ON THE INSIDE OF MY HEADLIGHTS ARE CRACKED, AND HAVE A LOT OF BARE COPPER SHOWING. I NOTICED THIS WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE BULBS OUT. THIS IS SEALED FROM OUTSIDE ELEMENTS. NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE BULBS TO GO OUT. IT DID HOWEVER CREATE A SHORT THAT NEEDED TO BE CLEARED AFTER I TAPED UP THE WIRES THE BEST I COULD.
RECALL # 17V676, 17V683 IT HAS BEEN NEARLY A YEAR AND I'M STILL UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIR APPOINTMENT WITH BMW DEALER FOR REASON OF PARTS UNAVAILABLE. MY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM COULDN'T KEEP CAR COOL ENOUGH AS HEAT FROM THE ENGINE IS HIGH.
HELLO, MY 2009 BMW E92 328I IS EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, WHICH WILL CAUSE THE AIRBAG AND SEATBELT TO NOT FUNCTION AS INTENDED. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT WITH THE SAME DESIGN AND PARTS, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MY CAR IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE READ ON SEVERAL ONLINE FORUMS THAT IT IS A RECURRING PROBLEM IN THE CARS AFTER THE EFFECTIVE RECALL DATE. I AM TRYING MY BEST TO DO DUE DILIGENCE AND INFORM THE NTSB TO REVIEW THIS INCIDENT WITHIN OTHER BMW MODELS AND TO HOPEFULLY REMEDY ANY AFFECTED CARS. THE DESIGN OF THE SENSOR IS VERY POORLY CONSTRUCTED AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX, LEAVING MANY OWNERS TO SIMPLY FOREGO MAKING THE NECESSARY FIXES. IN FACT, SEVERAL MECHANICS INFORMED ME THAT CUSTOMERS TYPICALLY AVOID MAKING THE FIX DUE TO HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS, RUNNING THE RISK OF THEIR PASSENGER NOT BEING PROTECTED IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD IT TOWED TO BMW OF SCOTTSDALE IN SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN MARCH OF 2017 PER AN UNKNOWN FUEL PUMP RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MARCH 29, 2018 AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 BMW 328I. SHORTLY AFTER PARKING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE FLAMES ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE. A FIRE INSPECTOR EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE THAT CAUSED THE FIRE, WHICH ORIGINATED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. SCHOMP BMW, CAR DEALERSHIP, LOCATED IN HIGHLANDS RANCH COLORADO, IS ILLEGALLY SELLING RECALL AFFECTED BMWS. THE ABOVE VIN IS ONLY ONE OF SEVERAL BMW'S SOLD LAST MONTH WITHOUT THE DEALER REPAIRING THE NHTSA BMW US BLOWER MOTOR WIRING HARNESS RECALL. TAKATA RECALL IN LATE SEPTEMBER I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE A ROUGHLY 3 WEEK WAIT FOR PARTS. CALLED AGAIN THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 4-6 WEEK WAIT. I'M STILL GETTING THE RUN AROUND BY BMW OF DALLAS AND BELIEVE THEY MAY BE ONLY HELPING SELECT PEOPLE.
AIR BAG LIGHT HAS CAME ON, WHEN I WAS BACKING UP, I HIT A GARBAGE CAN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BUT NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED

BMW ANNOUNCED A RECALL OF THE A/C AND HEATING CIRCULATING FAN IN OCTOBER 2017. A YEAR LATER "NO REMEDY IS AVAILABLE." HOW CAN THIS BE? I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT OUR VEHICLE MAY SUFFER A FIRE BECAUSE THE FAN HAS BEEN BEHAVING IN A STRANGE FASHION -- RUNNING FAST UNPREDICTABLY, ETC.
UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR, HESITATION TO START, ABNORMAL DISPLAY IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2013 FOR BATTERY CABLE CONNECTOR AT BATTERY AND FUSE BOX. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION.

TAKATA RECALL, WHENEVER I DRIVE MY CAR FOR MORE THAN 30MIN IT OVERHEATS AND COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS LIKE IT RUNS OUT OF GAS AND I CAN'T START THE CAR FOR AT LEAST 20 30 MINUTES. THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED THAT AND 3MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM COMES BACK AND NOW I CAN'T RUN THE A/C WITHOUT IT SHUTTING OFF RANDOMLY. THE CAR HAS HAD A STRONG SMELL OF MELTING PLASTIC COMING FROM THE AIR FLOW IN THE VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER THE COURSE OF 3 WEEKS AND NOT SURE WHAT THE MELTING PLASTIC IS COMING FROM. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND ESPECIALLY WORSE WHEN THE HEATER IS ON.
SEAT OCCUPANCY DETECTOR FAULTY. PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON SO TOOK TO BMW DEALER. (AS AN ASIDE THIS OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER (WI 3-4 MONTHS) AIR BAG REPLACED DUE TO TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL). TOLD RELATED TO SEAT MAT SENSOR, WHICH WAS UNDER/IN PASSENGER SEAT. NOT TOLD THAT COULD DISABLE FRONT AIR BAG. NOT TOLD THAT MULTIPLE BMW MODELS INCLUDING 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 AND 2010 MODELS HAVE SAME DEFECT, INCLUDING THE 3 SERIES, AND THE 328I MODEL, AND THE 5 SERIES,AND IN PARTICULAR, MODELS WITH CLIMATE OR SPORT SEAT (LIKE MINE). TOLD REPLACEMENT COST WELL OVER $1,000. DECLINED SERVICE THINKING IT WAS JUST A DEFECTIVE SEATBELT NOTICE ISSUE (AND SEATBELT WORKED), NOT REALIZING IMPACTED SAFETY. WHEN AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO STAY ON AND CAME ON MORE FREQUENTLY, TOOK CAR TO A NON-BMW REPAIR SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION, WHICH TOLD ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH BMWS AND THAT DEFECT PREVENTS PASSENGER AIR BAG FROM DEPLOYING. CALLED BMW DEALERSHIP BACK AND RESTATED WHAT OTHER REPAIR SHOP HAD SAID AND THIS TIME SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME MAY BE SUBJECT TO RECALL, BUT WHEN HE LOOKED UP VIN NUMBER THIS PARTICULAR MODEL NOT INCLUDED. THIS TIME BMW SERVICE PERSON ALSO TOLD ME THAT ISSUE WILL DEACTIVATE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. BMW REFUSED TO REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGING FULL AMOUNT. CALLED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND SERVICES AT BMW USA TO COMPLAIN AND WHILE ACKNOWLEDGING ALL OF THESE ISSUES WITH OTHER MODELS/YEARS CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT ASSUME THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING HERE. REALLY??? THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. BMW IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SHAME ON BMW.

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. TAKATA RECALL MY BMW DEALER/SERVICE CENTER IN MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA STATES THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE E92 AIRBAGS TO REPLACE MY DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. THEY TELL ME IT WILL TAKE MONTHS TO GET A NEW AIRBAG. I WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA TO CONTACT BMW ABOUT THIS MATTER AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO MAKE THIS A TOP PRIORITY. I'VE BEEN DRIVING AROUND WITH THIS DEFECTIVE PART LONG ENOUGH, AND BMW HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO ACT SWIFTLY TO REASSURE OWNERS THAT THEY ARE ON TOP OF THIS. I WOULD ULTIMATELY LIKE MY DEALER TO CONTACT ME WITH THE PART ASAP AND HAVE THIS REPAIR COMPLETED.

IN NOVEMBER 2017 I RECEIVED TWO (2) RECALL NOTICES FOR MY 2009 BMW 328I. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR WIRING (RECALL CAMPAIGN # 17V-676) AND PCV VALVE HEATER (RECALL CAMPAIGN # 17V-676) WERE DEFECTIVE. I WAS FURTHER NOTIFIED THAT NO REMEDY FOR EITHER DEFECT WAS AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME. IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 2018. I HAVE CONTACTED BMW AND BEEN ADVISED THAT AT THIS TIME A REMEDY REMAINS UNAVAILABLE. I AM CONSIDERING SELLING OR TRADING IN MY VEHICLE BUT BECAUSE THIS RECALL HAS NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED MY RESALE PRICE MAY BE LOWERED. IF TWO (2) RECALL REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN PERFORMED 10 MONTHS AFTER A RECALL NOTICE HAS BEEN ISSUED, WHY BOTHER ISSUING THE RECALL NOTICE IN NOVEMBER 2017 IF IT IS FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE THAN BUREAUCRATIC PAPER SHUFFLING FOR BMW TO CLAIM TO THE NHTSA THAT BMW IS GOING TO FIX A DEFECT WHILE ACTUALLY DOING NOTHING TO REMEDY THE DEFECT?
