TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT HAS FAILED ON MY VEHICLE. THIS MEANS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS NOT ACTIVE. IT HAS BEEN RECALLED IN THE PAST BY BMW MULTIPLE TIMES, 17V605 AND 17V428, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. HOWEVER, THIS APPEARS TO STILL BE AN ISSUE.
DOORS WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUT . YOU CAN OPEN ONLY THE DRIVERS DOOR WITH THE KEY ONLY . THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 10 MONTHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS CAR. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND BMW WILL NOT FIX IT MY WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXSPIREF FOR THREE DAYS. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD FIX IT WHERE IT'S BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR SINCE THE LAST TIME AND IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY .THIS HAPPEN AFTER DRIVING TO WORK CAME OUT TO UNLOCK CAR AND NOTHING WOULD UNLOCK. HAD TO USE KEY . THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY THING FOR ME BECAUSE IF SOMETHING HAPPEN YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CAR
ON THURSDAY, MAY 2ND, 2019, MY WIFE AND 19-MONTH OLD SON WERE AT THE PARK AND RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT. MY WIFE HAD THE KEY FOB IN HER BAG. SHE PLACED HER BAG ON THE FLOOR OF THE CAR, JUST BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. SHE PLACED OUR SON IN HIS CAR SEAT, STRAPPED HIM AND CLOSED THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE THEN PROCEEDED TO LOCK ITSELF, THUS LOCKING MY SON IN AND MY WIFE OUT. SHE HAD TO CALL EMS TO COME AND BREAK OPEN THE CAR IN ORDER TO GAIN ACCESS, THIS TOOK CLOSE TO 15-20 MINUTES TOTAL IN WHICH TIME MY SON WAS TRAPPED IN THE CAR WITH TEMPS IN EXCESS OF 100 DEGREES AS IT WAS ABOUT 90 OUTSIDE AT THE TIME IT OCCURRED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH BMW'S COMFORT ACCESS FEATURE. THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN ONE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR OWNERS TO RECOVER EXPENSES, HOWEVER I FEEL THIS IS A BIGGER ISSUE. IF A PERSON OR PET, WHO ARE UNABLE TO OPERATE DOORS OR LOCKS, GET TRAPPED IN A VEHICLE IT COULD VERY EASILY RESULT IN DEATH UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES. WHEN THEY PULLED HIM FROM THE CAR HE WAS SOAKEDDD IN SWEAT, GLOSSY EYED AND OUT OF IT. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH AND I FEEL BMW SHOULD STEP UP AND FIX THESE VEHICLES. MY WATER PUMP FAILED AT 57,000 MILES WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR STALLED AT 30 MPH UNTIL I COULD FINALLY EXIT. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER LEAVING TWO MESSAGES ON BMW DEALER VOICE MAIL, I WAS TOWED TO NEAREST AUTO SHOP THAT I HAD USED PREVIOUSLY. $1450 IN REPAIRS FOR FAULTY WATER PUMP/THERMOSTAT (BAD DESIGN FLAW - ELECTRONIC SENSOR ISSUE? ) BMW WILL NOT REIMBUSRSE ME SINCE REPAIRS WEREN'T DONE AT THEIR REPAIR SHOP, AND HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR 2013'S EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE FOR 2011-2012 MODELS. IT IS UNFAIR TO LIMIT REPAIRS (PER WHAT THEY SAY ARE THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED RULES) SINCE I WASN'T AWARE OF THEM, THEY DIDN'T RESPONSD TO ME IN TIME, AND IT WAS OBVIOUSLY AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. WHILE DRIVING ONE RAINY AFTERNOON ON A CITY ROAD, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE SMOKE TURNED INTO FLAMES. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED 911. AN OFF DUTY POLICE OFFICER STOPPED AND HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. HE WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT MOST OF THE FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP AND FINISHED THE JOB. THE FIREMEN THOUGHT THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE. THE BMW DEALER SAID THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE WIPER MOTOR. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALER THE PREVIOUS WEEK FOR THE AIR BAG RECALL.
OCCUPANCY SEAT SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE PART TO FIX THE ITEM IS $1,500 INCLUDING LABOR. THE PART IS OUT OF STOCK. SO THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY BMW. APPROVAL TO REPLACE HAS BEEN GRANTED ON OTHER BMW MODELS. WHY ISN'T MINE COVERED? THE SENSOR IS ALWAYS ON EVEN IF NO ONE IS IN THE SEAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING LOW SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BLUEGRASS BMW (3235 PARK AVE, PADUCAH, KY 42001, (270) 444-0660) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A HOLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED IN THE ENGINE AND THE DRIVESHAFT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 76 MPH WHEN A MESSAGE CAME UP TELLING ME "ENGINE HOT DRIVE MODERATELY." I CONTINUED TO DRIVE ANOTHER 3 MILES WHEN THE LIGHT MYSTERIOUSLY SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP WHEN I REACHED COLUMBIA. THEY DETERMINED THE WATER PUMP HAS FAILED AND MUST BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS 83,XXX MILES. HAD I NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO THE SHOP TODAY AND DROVE IT AFTER THE LIGHT WENT OFF THE ENGINE COULD HAVE BEEN RUINED OR POSSIBLY THE X5 CAUGHT ON FIRE IF THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME BACK ON.
MY 2013 BMW X5 35D WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, WHEN IT STALLED, LOST ALL POWER AND ULTIMATELY WOULD NOT RESTART. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE, BUT NOT OFF THE ROAD AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A STILL UNIDENTIFIED SOURCED, FUEL LEAK INTO THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND FINALLY POOLING INTO THE DDE COMPONENT, FRYING THE DDE COMPONENT TO FAILURE. THERE WAS ENOUGH FUEL IN THE DDE COMPONENT THAT IT WAS DRAINED INTO A DRIP PAN AND FUEL COVERED THE WIRING CONNECTION POINTS AS WELL AS HAD DISCOLORED THE WIRING. I WAS INFORMED THAT HAD THIS BEEN A GAS ENGINE AND NOT DIESEL, IT WOULD HAVE PROBABLY CAUGHT ON FIRE AS FUEL WAS ABLE TO ACCESS AND TRAVEL ACROSS THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE CAR. BMW HAS REFUSED TO HELP IN ANYWAY TO INVESTIGATING THE REASONING FOR THIS HAPPENING AND OR ANY REPAIRS THAT WOULD BE INVOLVED AS THEY "DO NOT HAVE A FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY" I FEEL THAT THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO DISCOVER THE REASONING WITHOUT THE DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE THAT A FIRE WOULD HAVE CAUSED AND THEY ARE CHOOSING NOT TO DO SO AS TO CLAIM IGNORANCE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES THAT THIS HAPPENING REPRESENTS.
ENGINE MALFUNCTION, LOW POWER OUTPUT, BMW DEALER SW IN THE MODULE THEIR WERE 2 SEPARATE MISFIRES BUT CANNOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM
SPORADICALLY, THE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO BE OPENED FROM INSIDE CAR WHEN PULLING ON DOOR HANDLE. THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED WITH ELECTRONIC KEY FOB OR POWER UNLOCK BUTTON IN THE MIDDLE CONSOLE. THE DOOR FAILURE TRAPS THE OCCUPANT IN THE CAR AND IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT WITH POWER LOSS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE CAR.
THE VEHICLE HAS A THROTTLE DELAY ISSUE. WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND READY TO GO IT WILL TAKE AS LONG AS 2 SECONDS FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND AND START MOVING AFTER YOU DEPRESS THE GAS PEDDLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL EVENTUALLY COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE.
ENGINE OVERHEAT DUE TO WATER PUMP FAILURE, CAR AUTOMATICALLY SLOW DOWN ON HIGHWAY. THE CAR ONLY HAS 44K MILE. ALSO OIL FILER HOUSING LEAKING.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. WIFE UNLOCKED DOORS USING LEFT/REAR DOOR HANDLE (VEHICLE HAS COMFORT ACCESS LOCKING SYSTEM) AND PLACED BABY AND DIAPER BAG WITH KEY FOB INTO THE BACK SEAT. SHE CLOSED THE REAR DOOR AND THE DOOR LOCKS IMMEDIATELY LOCKED WITH NO INPUT FROM MY WIFE. THE CAR WOULD NOT UNLOCK. POLICE WERE CALLED AND BROKE OUT THE REAR WINDOW. THEY WERE UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR USING THE INTERIOR HANDLE. THEY HAD TO RETRIEVE THE KEY FOB FROM THE BAG, BRING IT OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, AND AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS WERE ABLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME, I WAS ABLE TO RECORD VIDEO OF THE LOCKS RANDOMLY LOCKING WITHOUT USER INPUT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRAMAN BMW BACK IN AUGUST, 2017 FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE AND THE LEFT/FRONT DOOR HANDLE WAS REPLACED. IT IS DISCONCERTING THAT OCCUPANTS CAN BE RANDOMLY LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY AND NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE INTERIOR HANDLES TO OPEN THE DOORS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 BMW X5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO PASS AN INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID TANK WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
UNIVERSAL JOINT AND DRIVE SHAFT BROKE. PER TECHNICIAN AT BMW DEALERSHIP EXACTLY THE SAME AS FOLLOWING RECALL ALTHOUGH MY VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL: RECALL NUMBER 17V138000 RECALL DATE 03/02/2017 COMPONENT POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN LOAD BANG, FOLLOWED BY INCREASING LOAD NOISE. PULLED RIGHT OVER. DRIVESHAFT SLAMMED INTO OIL PAN CAUSING LOSS OF ALL OIL AND HYDRAULIC STEERING FLUID
IN JULY 2018 I WAS NOTIFIED BY BMW OF NORTH AMERICA THAT MY CAR HAS A RECALL FOR IDLER PULLEY BOLT. OVERTIME THIS PART CAN COME LOOSE, BREAK AND IMPAIR STEERING CAUSING A CRASH. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER 6 WEEKS AND NO REMEDY HAS BEEN PROVIDED. I HAVE CONTACTED BMW OF NORTH AMERICA TWICE AND ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION IS NOT PROVIDED BECAUSE TOO MANY CARS ARE EFFECTED. I DRIVE MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN DAILY AGES 5, 4, AND 1. BMW HAS SHOWN NO CONCERN OVER MY PERSONAL SAFETY AND SAFETY OF MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES SINCE PURCHASING MY CAR AS A CPO VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MINIMUM OF 6 TIMES. THERE IS ALSO CURRENTLY A STOP SALE FOR THIS VEHICLE. IF MY CAR IS IN THE DEALERSHIP LOT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SELL IT, HOW IS IT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE IT? MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF ARE PUTTING OURSELVES IN DANGER AND OTHER ON THE ROAD DAILY.
AFTER 65,00 MILES WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LOCKED UP AND WILL NOT RUN. THE CAR DID NOT HAVE AN OIL LEAK OR EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION, BUT HEAVY BLACK SOOT WAS EMITTED FROM THE TAIL PIPES ENOUGH THAT HAS TURNED THE REAR TAILPIPE SURROUND BLACK. I HAD BMW DEALER LOOK AT THIS TWICE AND THEY FOUND IT TO BE NORMAL. A NEW ENGINE IS 23,000
2 OF 4 PIRELLI VERDE SCORPION - RUN FLAT (255/55 R18 109H M + S ALL SEASON RUN FLAT) TIRES HAVE FAILED DUE TO INNER WALL SEPARATION WITHIN 30 DAYS. BOTH WERE FRONT TIRES ON MY 2013 BMW X5 35D. THESE ARE RUN FLAT TIRES THAT BOTH FAILED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EACH OTHER. THE "INNER WALL" HAD COMPLETELY SEPERATED FROM THE FIRST TIRE RENDERING IT FLAT. THE SECOND TIRE TO FAIL DID NOT GO FLAT BUT HAD A CUPPING IN THE CENTER AND CAUSED A STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION. THE TIRES WERE BOTH REPLACED AND DEEMED UNSAFE BY LES SCHWAB (TIRE VENDOR). THIS PARTICULAR CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS AND I CAN TESTIFY THAT THE TIRE PRESSURES WHERE ALL AT THE PSI POSTED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. THESE ARE NOT A STAGGARD SET AND ARE ALL 4 WHEELS THE SAME.
DRIVERS DOOR NOT OPENING OR CLOSING PROPERLY. THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE MALFUNCTIONS NOT ALLOWING DRIVER TO OPEN DOOR. IN SOME CASES AFTER OPENING DOOR THE DOOR ACTUATOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AN MAINTAINS DOOR IN LOCKED POSITION WHICH PREVENTS CLOSURE OF DOOR. BOTH SITUATIONS ARE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE AND/OR CLOSE DOOR. ISSUES HAPPEN FREQUENTLY BUT ARE HARD TO REPRODUCE. THE ONLY WORK AROUND IS TO REPEATEDLY PRESS THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON UNTIL DOOR OPENS OR CLOSES. THIS PROBLEM ALWAYS OCCURS WHEN STOPPED AND VEHICLE IS IN PARK.

ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNING. SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY BMW X5 OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, THE LIKELY CAUSE IS A BAD WATER PUMP. IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY USERS, IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. ALSO I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON WATER PUMP FOR 2008-2011 MODELS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON COUNTY ROAD WHEN OVERHEAT WARNING CAME ON ADVISING TO SLOW DOWN. WITHIN 10 SECONDS VEHICLE OVERHEATED WARNING CAME ON AND CAR SHUT DOWN FORCING VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. NO APPARENT OTHER WARNING, NO SYMPTONS SUCH AS STEAM FROM BLOWN HOSE OR HOLE IN RADIATOR. VEHICLE 4 YEARS OLD W/69K MILES; WATER PUMP & THERMOSTAT WENT BAD. $1500 REPAIR. APPARENTLY BMW KNOWINGLY MANUFACTURED X5 WITH INFERIOR WATER PUMP W/50K WARRANTY. THIS IS ONLY COMING TO LIGHT TO CUSTOMERS NOW SINCE X5'S ARE OVERHEATING AFTER WARRANTY. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY WITH VEHICLE JUST SHUTTING DOWN ENROUTE IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD. FOR A LUXURY VEHICLE MANUFACTURER THIS IS A MAJOR FAIL AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED.
SUFFERED AN ENGINE KILL AT 65MPH DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. WE RECEIVED A WARNING THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE. CAR TOWED AND PROBLEM PER BMW SERVICE WAS THE WATER PUMP.

FAULTY DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS CAUSE DOORS TO LOCK BUT NOT UNLOCK WITH BUTTON OR KEY FOB. HAPPENED AFTER DEALER CHARGED TO REPLACE JUNCTION BOX MODULE.

ENGINE IS HOT MESSAGE APPEARED AND CAR LIMPS AT THE FREEWAY SPEED. IT SEEMS TO BE WATER PUMP ISSUE
I HEARD THE ENGINE FAN GOING AT MAX SPEED. ABOUT A MILE LATER, WARNING MESSAGES CAME ON TO DRIVE THE CAR MODERATELY AND THEN TO PULL OVER AND TURN IT OFF. SAID THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS TOO HIGH. ELECTRONIC WATER PUMP FAILURE
VEHICLE PARKED AND TURNED OFF AT MY HOME. MANY HOURS LATER VEHICLE WAS DISCOVERED BY A ONE OF MY CHILDREN ON FIRE . RESULTING FIRE DESTROYED THE AUTO AND IGNITED A MAJOR FIRE TO MY RESIDENCE.

THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT BMW WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION OR THE ENGINE FREE OF CHARGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VIBRATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,500. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
RUNNING ON THE HIGHWAY RECEIVED HIGH ENGINE TEMP WARNING ORANGE. IT QUICKLY WENT TO RED AND READ ON DASH TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE LOST MUCH POWER AND STEPPING ON ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT LET IT GO FASTER. I HAD TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE SOME VEHICLE SPED THROUGH TO THE RIGHT OF ME WHILE TRYING TO PULL OVER. 55000 MILES AND WATER PUMP HAD FAILED WHEN I TOOK IT TO A SHOP. A $2000 REPAIR
PLASTIC FIRE WALL BULKHEAD BETWEEN ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CABIN FILTER HOUSING LOCATION, BULKHEAD IS PRONE TO BREAKAGE AND WILL SNAP BETWEEN THE UPPER SECTIONS AND THE LOWER LETTING FUMES TRAVEL INTO THE PASSAGES COMPARTMENT. ENGINE COMPARTMENT CHEMICAL FUMES WILL IS SMELLED IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND THE ENGINE IS HOT. SMELL DISSIPATES DURING DRIVING AT HIGH WAY SPEEDS. BMW PART NUMBERS 51717169419,51717169420,5171769421. THIS IS COMMON ON ALL E70 X5 BMW, THE PLASTIC BULKHEAD SEPARATES DUE TO THE THIN AMOUNT OF PLASTIC BETWEEN THE UPPER SECTION AND THE OFFSET LOWER SECTIONS OF THE BULKHEAD PARTS. PRESSURE FROM THE HOOD AND HEAT MAY CAUSE THE FAILURE OF THESE PARTS. A SHOP REPAIR OF THIS PROBLEM COULD COST UP TO 500$ AND WOULD BRAKE AGAIN LATER ON.
RECENTLY STARTED TO LOSE POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE WHILE DRIVING. TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALER, THEY SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN (NOT A RECALL) ABOUT A SENSOR THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME I WAS WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE PROBLEM BUT THE WARRANTY OF PART EXPIRED. THIS MAKES NO SENSE SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

ON 4/6/2017 I PARKED MY 2013 BMW X5 AT 7:30PM, AROUND 3AM I HEARD A POPPING SOUND AND THE ALARM GOING OFF . I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND FIRE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. ON 3/20/2017 I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE IT DID SOMETHING CRAZY AND THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON, ALSO THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE FOG LIGHTS. BMW SAID THEY THEY CHANGED THE COIL IN THE ENGINE AND FIXED THE LIGHTS THEY ALSO TOLD US WE NEED TO UPGRADE THE SOS BUTTON OR TAKE A $300 REFUND AND NOT FIX THE SOS SYSTEM . THEY COMPLETED THAT REPAIR ON 3/28/17 . 8 DAYS LATER MY TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE

WARNING LIGHT ON DASH THAT READS "FAULT IN PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM AFFECTING AIRBAG, TENSIONER OR BELT-FORCE LIMITER." BMW DEALER (ROADSHOW BMW / MEMPHIS) DID REPLACE BELT TENSIONER AT A COST TO ME BUT THE ERROR CODE REMAINS. THE PASSENGER SEAT MAT COULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SEAT MAT? I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DEALING WITH AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS. THE BMW DEALER IN JACKSON, MS DID REPLACE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAG UNDER A RECALL BUT I AM STILL CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY DUE TO THE "SYSTEM MALFUNCTION...FAULT IN PASSENGER-RESTRAINT SYSTEM AFFECTING AIRBAG" WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD. THIS WARNING MESSAGE AND SEATBELT WARNING LIGHT REMAINS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MARCH 17, 2015 (33,000 MILES) FROM MY SISTER WHO BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM THE BMW DEALER IN NASHVILLE, TN. THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS ON THE DASH AT THAT TIME. THE CAR NOW HAS APPROX 64,000 MILES.
DRIVESHAFT UNIVSAL JOINTS ARE RECALLED BUT NO REMEDY AVAILABLE FROM BMW. THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH ACCORDING TO THEIR LETTER.

I DON'T KNOW WHY BMW WOULD TAKE SO LONG TO FIX A RECALL ON MY CAR. IT'S BEEN 6 MONTHS AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE, THE DRIVE SHAFT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOOK MY CAR TO BMW AND THEY CAN NOT FIX THE RECALL YET BECAUSE I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE FINAL NOTICE.
TAKATA RECALL - WE HAVE ASKED THAT OUR CAR BE REPAIRED AND THE LOCAL BMW OFFICE AND THE CORPOARATE OFFICE REFUSE AND SAID THEY ARE ONLY FIXING CARS BEING TRADED IN FOR NEW BMWS. I GOT AN ESTIMATE FOR A TRADE IN ON MY CAR FROM GMC AND THE VALUE WENT DOWN $10K BECAUSE OF THE RECALL AND IT NOT BE FIXED. I WOULD LIKE MY CAR FIXED, THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL AND THEY ARE PRIORITIZING MY SAFETY OVER THAT OF SOMEONE BUYING A NEW BMW.
