TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED AS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. UPDATED 02/11/14*LJ
THE FRONT PASSENGER SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED TO A FAULTY PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM ASSEMBLY. THE COST OF REPAIR IS ESTIMATED AT ABOUT $650. I WOULD DEEPLY APPRECIATE YOUR INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER. THANK YOU SO MUCH. *TR
MY WIFE, WITH 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND ONE ON THE WAY, GOT STUCK IN A PARKING LOT, UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. SHE WAS PINNED IN AND CALLED ME IN TEARS TO HELP. I DROVE DOWN TO THE STORE TO HELP HER EXPECTING SOMETHING SIMPLE BUT FOUND THAT I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. STEERING FLUID WAS FINE AND I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE IT INTO A SPACE. THE NEXT DAY WE WENT BACK TO TRY AND MOVE THE CAR AND IT SEEMED FINE. I DROVE IT HOME BUT WHEN I TRIED TO TURN INTO MY ROAD I OVERSHOT THE TURN AND FOUND MYSELF SIDEWAYS ACROSS THE RD. HALFWAY PASSED THE INTERSECTION! THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE! I HAVE SINCE BEEN ONLINE AND FOUND MANY, MANY SIMILAR STORIES. THE DEALER THAT FIXED THIS SAID THAT THIS EFFECTS OTHER BUICK MODELS AS WELL AND INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED OVER THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A $2200 REPAIR AND I'VE READ THAT IT JUST COMES BACK FOR SOME PEOPLE IN ANOTHER 20,000 MILES! PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS... ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND FAILED TO RESTART AFTER IT WAS SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,040.
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY DAUGHTER, AND DOGS FROM THE VET; THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND EVENTUALLY STOP. I TRIED TO RESTART AND VEHICLE TURN ON LIGHTS, AC, RADIO CAME ON HOWEVER WOULD NOT CRANK. PEDESTRIANS PUSHED ME OUT OF HARMS WAY AND INTO A PARKING LOT. TOWED TO DEALER IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT INSPECTION THEY SAID IT IS ENGINE FAILURE AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OVER 7000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE CAR HAD A FULL WARRANTY AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH JUST RECENTLY ENDED. I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 1 YEAR. *TR
EVERY TIME IT RAINS WATER GETS INTO MY VEHICLE FROM SUNROOF. I RESEARCHED INFORMATION AND IT WAS A RECALL ABOUT IT IN 2009 UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RECALL NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT AND WATER MAY CAUSE DAMAGE THAT I CAN NOT SEE.
I,THE DRIVER, WIFE, MOTHER-IN-LAW WERE STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC WHEN WE WERE REAR-ENDED. MY VEHICLE THEN STRUCK THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME, THAT VEHICLE THEN STRUCK THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF IT. THE VEHICLE THAT STRUCK ME WAS THEN REAR- ENDED. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. THE OCCUPANTS IN MY CAR WERE TRANSPORTED TO EMERGENCY ROOM.. I HAD A BROKEN BACK, BROKE RIBS, DAMAGED RIGHT LUNG.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED AT APPROX. 9000 MILES FOR A FAILURE THEN UNDER GM WARRANTY. CAR NOW HAS 62500 AND DEALER ADVISES PUMP IS BAD AGAIN. WILL NOT COVER REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH IT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT BUT GM IS NOT ISSUING A RECALL AND THE REPLACEMENT PUMPS ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THE SUNROOF TUBE FAILED CAUSING WATER TO PENETRATE INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE SUNROOF, THE SUN VISOR AND THE WINDSHIELD. THE DRIVERS SIDE CARPET AND FLOOR HAD WATER DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR THE SUNROOF TUBE DRAINING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING. DRIVING HOME, STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. ENGINE WAS ON AND WOULD REV, TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE, BUT CAR DIDN'T GO. TURNED OFF CAR FOR A COUPLE MINUTES, TURNED BACK ON, CAR STARTED. TRIED TO DRIVE HOME, BUT AT ABOUT 20 MPH ALL POWER TO THE WHEELS FAILED AND WE COASTED TO A STOP. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER, $5000 REPAIR BILL, 10 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE WORST PART WAS THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING ABOUT THE FAILURE. IT WAS GOING FINE, AND THEN SUDDENLY WE HAD NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. FORTUNATELY WE WERE GOING SLOWLY AND NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT IF THIS HAPPENED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS IT COULD BE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. IN DOING SOME SEARCHING, IT SEEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE IN CARS BUILT AROUND 2H 2007. BUICK NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
THE STEERING RACK & PUMP WERE REPLACED AT 23,000 MILES UNDER WARRANTY. NOW, AT 70,000 MILES, IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN ($1900 REPAIR) FOR THE SAME REASON. THE STEERING WHINES WHENEVER THE WHEEL IS TURNED, AND LOSES POWER AT ANY TIME DURING LOW SPEED. SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY! OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE... I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL THEN BACK TO DRIVE AND IT WENT FORWARD VERY SLOWLY, THEN NOTHING. I COASTED OFF THE ROAD (AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION) AND FORTUNATELY 2 POLICEMEN STOPPED TO HELP ME. THEY LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. THEY CALLED THE BUICK DEALER FOR A TOW AND WHEN I WENT INTO THE DEALER THEY SAID THEY 'THOUGHT' IT WAS PROBABLY THE TRANSMISSION, BUT WOULDN'T KNOW THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE TRANS. WAS DROPPED. ALSO THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED IN JULY! I WAS TOLD, TWO DAYS AND $3100.00 LATER IT WAS A WAVE PLATE PROBLEM. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE AND OTHER GM PRODUCTS. I BOUGHT THIS ENCLAVE USED IN JAN./2010 WITH 41,000. MILES. IT SUPPOSEDLY HAD RAVE REVIEWS, AND NOW HAS TERRIBLE ONES. THAT SAYS A LOT. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION AFTER 5 YRS., OR 66,000 MILES, ESPECIALLY IN A HIGH END MODEL VEHICLE THAT COSTS THIS MUCH! *TR
HAD WARNING IN THE DIC. WARNING WAS SERVICE AIR BAG. I HAD A BULLETIN THAT SAID VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT WEAR WHICH COULD LEAD TO CORROSION IN THE CONNECTOR TERMINAL PINS AT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE BODY MAIN WIRING HARNESS AND THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO BILL WALSH GM SUPERSTORE AND THEY FOUND ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART - THEY REPLACED PASSENGER SEAT PRESENCE MODULE AT A COST TO ME OF $400.00. WANTING TO KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN SOLD A CAR THAT HAD DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, HOWEVER THE AIR BAGS BECAME DEFECTIVE OVER TIME. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE. NO REVERSE OR 2ND GEAR. GM DID NOT PAY FOR THE COSTLY REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL TSB. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED OUT OF NO-WHERE WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION. BARELY MISSED SIDE-SWIPING A POLICE CAR. ONLY HAD ASSIST UNDER HIGH RPM'S.(I AM AN ADULT AND HAVE HAD PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE DRIVING VEHICLES WITH NO POWER STEERING, MY TEENAGE CHILDREN WOULD HAVE NOT KNOWN WHAT TO DO OR HOW IT FEELS TO LOSE POWER STEERING, SO I AM THANKFUL THAT THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND NOT THEM!) THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION, AND NO RECALL? CAR WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THE VEHICLE MADE LOUD WHIRLING NOISES WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BEING TURNED. DEALERSHIP FOUND STEERING RACK-LEAKING FROM END SEALS, THEY FLUSHED POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND POWER STEERING GEAR, PUMP, FLUIDS REPLACED. $1987.49 TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE AGAIN. *TR
LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. OCCURS WHEN TURNING FROM STOP SIGNS/SIGNALS, TURNING INTO PARKING SPACES, AND OTHER LOW SPEED DRIVING. MY 2008 ENCLAVE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP TODAY FOR REPAIRS. THEY SAY IT MAY NEED NOT ONLY A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT THAT THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM MAY NEED REPLACED. THE SERVICE DEPT. STATES THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE AT LOW SPEEDS FOR THE POWER STEERING TO KICK IN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN INTERSECTIONS. ALMOST TRADED IT IN LAST WEEK TO AVOID ALL OF THE COSTLY REPAIRS, BUT CAN'T FIND ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT SUITS MY NEEDS AS WELL AS THIS ONE (I'VE OWNED IT FOR 4 YEARS, AND AM SPOILED). HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE ONE THAT GM IS FULLY AWARE OF AND SHOULD RECALL SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. ALTHOUGH THE CAR IS ALMOST PAID OFF, I DON'T HAVE $3500 LAYING AROUND AND AM HAVING TO REFINANCE THE VEHICLE TO PAY FOR THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRS TO THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. *TR
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR AND PARKING, NEXT DAY NOTICED LEAKAGE IN CARPORT UNDER CAR. AFTER A DAY OR TWO NOTICED A BIGGER SPOT UNDER CAR, CHECKED SPOT OUT IT LOOKS LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID ON THE CARPORT SURFACE AND ON THE UNDERSIDE OF VEHICLE. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILS AT LOW ENGINE RPM, MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN AT INTERSECTIONS WITH NO GAS APPLIED. *TR

STEERING LOSES POWER (LOCKS UP) AT LOW SPEEDS. I STRUGGLED TO TURN AT ALL. IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING SHE WOULD HAVE CRASHED, SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN STRONG ENOUGH TO CONTROL THE CAR. *JB

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON WHEN A PASSENGER IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. AFTER I FIRST NOTICED THE LIGHT NOT BEING ON....SOMETIMES IT COMES AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT COME ON. *TR
MY TWO CHILDREN AND I WERE TRAVELING ON A HIGHLY ELEVATED RAMP BETWEEN MAJOR HIGHWAYS IN SAN ANTONIO (281 AND 1604) WHEN MY CAR NO LONGER WOULD MOVE INTO A HIGHER GEAR AND SUDDENLY STALLED AT ITS CURRENT SPEED. THE ENGINE ROARED, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER. THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME, AS I UNEXPECTEDLY WAS NOT INCREASING SPEED AS ONE WOULD TYPICALLY DO ENTERING A HIGHWAY. IT WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING TO ALL THREE OF US (ESPECIALLY MY 9 YEAR OLD) AND REQUIRED OUR EXITING THE HIGHWAY IMMEDIATELY. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, AND WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM QUICKLY, BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN A FREQUENT REPAIR. THE "WAVE PLATE" FAILURE LED TO THE FAILED TRANSMISSION WITH ADDITIONAL ENGINE PROBLEMS. THE BILL EXCEEDS $6000. BOTH THE NEAR ACCIDENT AND COST HAVE BEEN HIGHLY STRESSFUL. WE WANT GM TO ADDRESS THIS "WAVE PLATE /TRANSMISSION" ISSUE BEFORE MORE PEOPLE ALMOST GET HURT. THE FORUMS FOR GM VEHICLES CONTAINING THIS PART HAVE DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ALREADY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY BUICK ENCLAVE AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 10 MILES TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND IT LOCKED IN ME I WAS SCARED TO DEATH!!! STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE TURNING AT LOW SPEED, ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR IN THE PROCESS. BUICK KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE ON THE ENCLAVE PLATFORM, STILL, NO RECALL. IF I DID GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND A FATALITY OCCURRED, LITIGATION WOULD HAVE BEEN IN ORDER. IS THIS WHAT BUICK IS WAITING FOR? SOMEONE TO GET INJURED, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ORIGINAL STICKER PRICE FOR MY 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE WAS NORTH OF $40,000, WOW AND THEY CAN'T GET SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A STEERING RACK AND PUMP RIGHT? THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, I JUST HAD TO PAY $2800 TO GET THIS FIXED, AND NOT REALLY SURE IF IT WILL OR WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS, APPARENTLY BUICK DOES NOT CARE ONE BIT ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND DEFINITELY DOES NOT WANT REPEAT BUSINESS. I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO AVOID BUICK AT EVERY EXPENSE AND NEVER, NEVER, NEVER BUY AN ENCLAVE. I AM ALSO CONSIDERING SELLING THE ENCLAVE AND BUYING SOMETHING THAT IS WORTH IT AND SAFE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND UPON TRYING TO PRESS THE BRAKE THE CAR JOLTED ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT ANOTHER CAR. THE CAR SAID TRACTION CONTROL OFF. I CAUTIOUSLY DROVE HOME WITH THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING BUT REALIZE THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL KEPT GOING ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. WHEN I READ ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE I REALIZED A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR ARE DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE NO MATTER THE MILEAGE. *TR
STEERING RACK SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO STEERING ISSUES WHILE DRIVING. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER WE WERE TOLD THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS IT WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE IN THAT CONDITION. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE STEERING COULD FAIL OR LOCKUP. *TR

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH DOOR BY PRESSING THE OPEN BUTTON ON THE FOBIK; HOWEVER, THE LIFTGATE FAILED TO OPEN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE LIFTGATE FAILED TO CLOSE WHEN THE CLOSE BUTTON WAS PRESSED ON THE FOBIK. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE LIFTGATE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE), BUT THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
WE BROUGHT THIS CAR FROM LANDERS FORD COLLIERVILLE IN 19APR13 AND I HAVE HAD TO GET THE BRAKES REDONE, AND A VALVE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER FIXED. BUT WE WENT TO SUNRISE GMC ON 28JUN13 AND THEY ADVISED US THAT WE NEED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION IN THE CAR DUE TO A CRACK IN SOME PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVEN'T HAD THE CAR THAT LONG AND NOW IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. LANDERS FORD KNEW THAT CAR HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. GMC ADVISED US THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS IN THE BUICK ENCLAVES AND THE ARCADIAS. SO IF YOU KNOW THAT THIS CAR HAD THESE PROBLEMS, THEN WHY HAVEN'T A RECALLED BEEN DONE ON THE CARS. WE DID RESEARCH THIS PAST WEEK AND EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. WE ALSO CALLED GMC AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP AND NOT GMC THAT THEY CAN NOT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. BUT THEY CAN GIVE US 70/30 WE PAY 70 PERCENT OF THE REPAIRS WHICH I CAN NOT AFFORD. THEY ADVISED US THAT THE CAR CAME OFF THE LINE IN 2007 AND THAT IS WHY THE CAR IS 10 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
STEERING STARTS TO FAIL WHEN I DRIVE AT LOW SPEEDS. IT LOCKS UP CAUSING ME TO MAKE SUDDEN REACTIONS. I HAVE A VERY HARD TIME MAKING A TURN OR PULLING IN OR OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. IT IS A DANGER TO MY FAMILY AND TO OTHER DRIVERS. *TR
STEERING LOSES POWER (LOCKS UP) AT LOW SPEEDS. *TR
DURING WET WEATHER, THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO SHUT DOWN AND MAKING IT VERY HARD TO STEER THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER JUST STARTING OUT AND DRIVING THRU A SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER AND AFTER A FEW MILES SEEMS TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THIS IS THE SAME COMPLAINT I HAVE SEEN FROM OTHER OWNERS AND NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. WE HAD ONE CLOSE CALL, HOW EVER DO TO THE LOW SPEED WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR IN TIME. SOMEHOW WATER MUST BE GETTING INTO THE STEERING COMPONENTS. *TR
THE LIFTGATE IS BROKEN. THE HYDRAULICS SUPPORTING IT WILL NOT KEEP IT IN AN OPEN POSITION AND IT FALLS IF NOT HELD UP MANUALLY. IT ALSO ELECTRONICALLY MISFIRES AND WILL SHUT WITH THE LIFTGATE MOTOR AND CANNOT BE STOPPED. IT HAS CLOSED ON BOTH ME AND MY CHILD. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I AM FRUSTRATED THAT IT HAS BEEN RECALLED WITH NO REPAIR DATE FORTHCOMING.
VEHICLE WAS ALREADY ONCE SERVICED FOR A WATER LEAK. WATER COMING FROM INTERIOR REAR BACK UP SENSOR NOTIFICATION. ALSO WATER LEAKING INTO THE A PILLAR. ALSO WATER COMING OUT OF THE VISOR ATTACHMENT TO THE HEAD LINER. AGAIN, WATER IS COMING INTO THE INTERIOR. PASSENGER CARPET IS ALWAYS SOAKED. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL WHITE SUBSTANCE ON THE WHEELS THAT COULD NOT BE REMOVED. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE A RECOMMENDATION OR A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,311. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,520.
WE WERE DRIVING AND THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WITH POWER WHEN THE GAS WAS PRESSED. WE COASTED TO A STOP AND WERE NEARLY REAR ENDED. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

WHILE TURNING INTO PARKING SPOTS OR IN AN INTERSECTION WHILE AT LOW SPEEDS THE STEERING BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE. *TR
AN AUDIBLE "SLOSHING" SOUND HAD BEEN DETECTED FOR SOME TIME BUT ORIGIN/EXACT LOCATION OF SOUND NOT IDENTIFIED. WHEN PARKING CAR AFTER DRIVING IN THUNDERSTORM ALL WARNING SYSTEMS LIGHTS FLASHED, RADIO STOPPED, AND RADIO AND TURN SIGNALS FAILED. CAR DID RESTART AFTER SITTING FOR BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME AND SYSTEMS WORKED EXCEPT FOR XM RADIO. TOOK VEHICLE TO BUICK DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS LEAKING WINDSHIELD, REMOVED AND REINSERTED FUSE FOR XM RADIO, AND REFERRED TO COMPANY WHO HAD REPLACED WINDSHIELD SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE. WINDSHIELD COMPANY DETERMINED WINDSHIELD NOT LEAKING, BUT DRAINED WATER FROM MOTOR BLOWER AND BLEW OUT DRAINAGE TUBES. ONE WEEK LATER, WATER STARTED TO POUR ON TO PASSENGER FLOOR MAT. WARNING LIGHTS FOR ALL SYSTEMS FLASHED AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AND CARE WOULD NOT RESTART FOR A FEW MINUTES (AND COULD NOT CONNECT TO ONSTAR). WHEN CAR RESTARTED, LIGHTS DID WORK, BUT TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS INSIDE CAR DID NOT, NOR DID SPEEDOMETER, POWER WINDOWS, PASSENGER AIRBAG, ETC. HAD TO DRIVE 60 MILES TO DEALERSHIP WITHOUT THESE WORKING. PAID TO HAVE "FOAM SEAL" REPLACED TO PREVENT RAIN FROM ENTERING CAR (THE PRESUMED SOURCE OF PROBLEM). THEY ALSO CLAIMED TO HAVE DRAINED WATER FROM MOTOR BLOWER HOUSING CLEARED TUBING. ON THE WAY HOME FROM REPAIR, WATER AGAIN POURED FROM AREA OF MOTOR BLOWER ONTO PASSENGER FLOOR MAT, AND ONCE AGAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS NOT WORKING. BUICK STILL DOES NOT KNOW WHERE WATER IS COMING FROM, [BUT BELIEVES THAT SINCE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WORKING FINE...AFTER SITTING THERE FOR 24 HRS...EVERYTHING IS FINE. OBVIOUSLY IT IS NOT. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE DATING AS FAR BACK AS 3 YEARS. I WILL ADD THAT THIS FOLLOWS 2 YEARS OF DEALING WITH STABILITRAK ...WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE A "SAFETY" SYSTEM BUT CAN BE LIFE THREATENING WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY REDUCES POWER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND/OR NO MAINTENANCE LANE. *TR
STEERING WOULD CLICK, GRIND & KNOCK WHILE DRIVING, PARTICULARLY WHEN TURNING. WE TOOK OUR ENCLAVE TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP WHERE THEY FOUND THAT THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN, SO WE HAD THE INDEPENDENT SHOP REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY IMMEDIATELY. I'VE CONTACTED GM AS WELL AS THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THIS ISSUE. ASKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF REPAIR COSTS SINCE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW BY GM, NOT A CONSUMER DRIVING ISSUE. I HAVE 60K MILES ON MY 2008 ENCLAVE AND ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN KEPT UP TO DATE ON THIS VEHICLE AND WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD IN NO WAY REIMBURSE ME BECAUSE ONE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP NOT A DEALERSHIP AND TWO MY BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY IS OUT AND RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY IS UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER NOT THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WHICH IS AVAILABLE TO US FOR THE NEXT YEAR (APPROX). I TOLD GM THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL POSTINGS ON THE INTERNET (INCLUDING NHTSA.GOV) REGARDING RACK AND PINION ISSUES WITH THE ENCLAVE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE INTERNET WAS FREE AND ANYONE COULD POST ON THERE. MY RESPONSE BACK WAS I PERSONALLY KNOW TWO ENCLAVE OWNERS THAT THIS HAPPENED TO AND THEIR REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY BUICK BECAUSE THEIR WARRANTY HADN'T EXPIRED. GM TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL TO DATE. I FIND THIS TO BE DISAPPOINTING AS THERE OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW ISSUES WITH THE ENCLAVE. I AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND AND ON MY LATEST CALL WITH A SUPERVISOR AT GM I WAS TOLD THAT HE WOULD PASS THE INFORMATION TO HIS MANAGER, BUT I PROBABLY WOULDN'T GET A CALL BACK BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE HR THEY DON'T HANDLE CUSTOMER ISSUES. I WAS TOLD TO SEND A LETTER TO GM VIA USPS. THE ENCLAVE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE STEERING CAN LOCK UP AT ANY TIME. I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED MORE CLOSELY AND AS A RESULT I BELIEVE A RECALL WILL BE DONE. *TR
MY 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE RPMS WOULD RACE UP BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE AIR CONDITIONER ALSO QUIT WORKING AT 39,000 MILES BUT I WAITED UNTIL THIS BREAKDOWN TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE COOL SEASON. THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE TO THE CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
THE MOONROOF IS LEAKING WATER INTO THE INTERIOR. THE WATER IS SOAKING THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE POTENTIALLY CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH OTHER SYSTEMS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

MY WIFE AND I, WITH OUR 2 KIDS WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRANSMISSION JUST STOPPED WORKING. WE WERE STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY FOR HOURS AND WOUND UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING. GOOD THING THERE WASNT A LOT OF TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. THAT WAS LAST YEAR. NOW THIS WHINNING NOISE THATS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE HAS GOTTEN LOUDER AND LOUDER. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE RACK AND PINNION. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *JS
