2006 BUICK LACROSSE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO HEAD LAMP DRIVER MODULE RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED OPERATING ON THEIR OWN. THE CONSUMER STOPPED AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FUSE BOX. HE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE, BUT SMOKE WAS STILL COMING OUT. HE REMOVED THE COVER FROM THE FUSE BOX AND A PART OF THE FUSE BOX HAD MELTED AND SMOKE CONTINUED TO COME OUT BUT AFTER A MINUTE IT STOPPED. THE WIPERS EXTENDED OVER THE WINDSHIELD AND WOULD NOT WORK EVEN WHEN THE BATTERY WAS RE-CONNECTED LATER. THE FUSE BOX AND WIRING HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB UPDATED 12/22/15.*JB

WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN DURING THE EARLY EVENING MY HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO DETERMINE MY OPTIONS. I TRIED USING THE SWITCH (INSTEAD OF THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS) TO FORCE HE HEADLIGHTS TO TURN ON. THAT DID NOT WORK. I BEGAN TO HEAD BACK TOWARD HOME TO TRY TO DETERMINE WHAT WENT WRONG WITH MY CAR. WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME (WITHIN A MILE OF THE HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF) MY HEADLIGHTS TURNED BACK ON. ABOUT A BLOCK OR TWO LATER THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF AGAIN. ANOTHER BLOCK OR TWO AND THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED BACK ON. I DROVE TO GET SOME DINNER AND WHILE WAITING AT THE DRIVE-THRU THE HEADLIGHTS AGAIN TURNED OFF. A MINUTE OR TWO LATER THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED BACK ON AND STAYED ON FOR THE DRIVE BACK HOME. IN AUGUST, 2014 I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF GM RECALL 14299, BUT THEY STATED THE PARTS WERE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. IN SEPTEMBER I RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING ME THAT THE PARTS WERE NOW AVAILABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE GETTING THE PARTS IN ONLY A FEW AT A TIME AND RIGHT NOW THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY, BUT THEY TOOK MY NAME AND NUMBER AND SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY CAME IN.
