The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that while driving in reverse and reversing out of the driveway, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and drove in reverse across a parking lot crashing into two parked vehicles, and hitting a tree before driving across a side road and into a ditch. During the incident, the front driver sustained neck stiffness and the front passenger sustained a bruised right elbow. Neither injury required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was later driven to the home. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. PREVIOUSLY THIS P2138 HAS OCCURRED. I WAS CLEARED WITH A COMPUTER SCANNER.THE CAR DROVE NORMAL ANOTHER DATE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING (IN MOTION)ON CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY 62 IN THE CITY OF YUCCA VALLEY CALIFORNIA 92284 WHEN THE CTS SUDDENLY LOST POWER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. SHE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR HOUSE. WE PUT A SCANNER ON THE COMPUTER WHICH READS P2138 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR (APPS) ERROR CODE. THE SCANNER WAS USED TO CLEAR THE CODE. THE CTS DROVE NORMAL.I REVIEWED FOR ANY RECALL FOR 2006 CTS ON P2138. THERE WERE P2138 RECALL FOR THE 2006 CTS -V ONLY. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE 2006 CTS SEDAN HAVING MY VIN#. ON 4 JANUARY 2017 I WAS DRIVING(IN MOTION) THE 2006 CTS ON LERRERA AVE TWENTY-NINE PALMS, CALIFORNIA 92277 WHEN THE CTS LOST POWER TO 5 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO A SIDE STREET. I USED THE COMPUTER SCANNER TO CLEAR THE CODE IN ORDER TO GET HOME. BECAUSE THIS HAS OCCURRED THE THIRD TIME LATER THAT DAY ON THE 4 JANUARY 2017 WE HAD THE TOW TRUCK BRING THE CTS TO JESSUP CADILLAC 68-11 EAST CANYON DRIVE, CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA 92234 ( OVER 60 MILES AWAY)FOR DIAGNOSTIC. I WAS CALLED BY THE DEALERSHIP ASKING WHAT WAS THE ISSUE. I EXPLAINED THE CODE WAS P2138 THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. ALSO, I EXPLAINED THE CODE WAS CLEARED IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET HOME. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. SO FAR NO ISSUES IN 45 DAYS. I HAVE ATTACHED MY REPAIRED INVOICE. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED BY GM FOR THE EXPENSES THIS MALFUNCTION HAS CAUSED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY GM DID NOT DO A RECALL FOR MY 2006 CTS? ALSO, I AM GRATEFUL MY WIFE AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER OUT OF THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. IT WOULD BE DISASTROUS IF WERE IN A METROPOLITAN AREA WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC.
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN WHEN I TRIED TO PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS THE CAR STARTED TUG AND IT WOULD ONLY DO THAT ON THE FIRST GEAR ONE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM AND I KEPT TESTING THE CAR OUT AND I KEPT PRESSING ON THE GAS TO SEE IF THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE BUT IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING AS THE FIRST TIME
AROUND 3:30 P.M , I NOTICED MY CAR WAS JERKING VERY HARD , IT CHANGED GEARS HARD , I LOST POWER , IT WAS HARD TO PICK UP SPEED , AND WHEN I ARRIVED HOME 20 MINUTES LATER , IT STARTED SMOKING UNCONTROLLABLY. *TR
IT HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES WHEN TURNING INTO PARKING SPACE OR PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACE MY 2006 CADILLAC CTS 3.5 DID NOT STOP WHILE BRAKING THE CAR IN EITHER DIRECTION. DURING THAT I FELT A SHUDDER SOUND COMING OUT OF FRONT WHEELS AND BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. AT THE SAME TIME A MESSAGE ?SERVICE BRAKES ASSIST? APPEARED ON THE VEHICLE INFORMATION DISPLAY WINDOW AND THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE TURNED ON IN THE DASH BOARD. I TOOK MY CAR TO MORE CADILLAC LOCAL DEALER AT CHANTILLY, VA. AND GET IT CHECKED IN REFERENCE TO RECALL # 09149, BUT HE TOLD ME THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE FITTING ARE NOT CORRODED AND HE COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 11/06/2014 AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION OF THE ISSUE. THEY ASSIGNED ME A REFERENCE # [XXX] AND WE HAD A CONFERENCE CALL WITH THE MOORE CADILLAC SERVICE ADVISOR. IT SEEMS LIKE THE GM AND MOORE DEALER ADVISOR ARE NOT ADMITTING THAT IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE, BUT I HAVE READ SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE WWW.SAFECAR.GOV SITE AND FEE LIKE THAT IT IS A GM MANUFACTURER ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. CURRENTLY, MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS ONLY 59,200 AND I NOTICED THIS ISSUE AT MILEAGE 55,000. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLIPS FOR THE FLOOR MATS BROKE. THE MAT BECAME LODGED UNDER THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS CAUSING THE CLUTCH TO NOT FULLY ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO GAVE HIM REPLACEMENT CLIPS WHICH BROKE SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE MATS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
2006 CTS ENGINE RACED AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN BACKING UP WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. *TS THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE, HOWEVER THE SECOND INCIDENT RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE RACING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET AND INTO A NEIGHBORS HOUSE, WHICH CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE AND THE CAR.
