I brought my car to my trusted local mechanic, and he informed me that the noise I was hearing from the rear of my car was the differential. He also informed me that it was dangerous because it could lock up, causing my car to go into a skid and lose control. I did some due diligence on the internet and discovered it’s a common problem, and although it has been recalled on the sub model of the V sport, the standard CTS has not been recalled.
Our mechanic told us that the differential is making a grinding sound and he add differential fluid, but said the problem would only get worse. The car only has 62k miles on it and it is VERY EXPENSIVE to have the differential replace/repaired. I feel that this is a defect of the car and should be recalled by Cadillac to have the differential replaced. For the differential to go bad at 60k miles is unacceptable and is terrible reliability.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, there was a loud sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The speed was reduced however, the sound became louder. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear differential had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 177,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the contact heard a roaring noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle but did not find an issue with the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving however, the abnormal noise was still heard while the contact was driving the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed a failure with the rear axle differential which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
HEARD A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE WHEN STEPPING ON THE ACCELORATOR, TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO GET A INSPECTION AND TURNS OUT THE ROLL PINS IN THE REAR-AXLE DIFFERENTIAL ARE CLOSE TO FRACTURING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL IN THIS REGUARD TO 2014-15 CADILLAC CTS (V-SPORT) MODELS BUT NO OTHER CTS MODELS GET THE RECALL. I HAVE A 2014 CADILLAC CTS (LUXURY) SEDAN, HOPING THERE WILL BE A RECALL FOR ALL CTS MODELS IN REGARDS TO THE HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
THE EPS SOMETIMES WORKS AND SOMETIME FAILS 03IN MOTION
STARTING AROUND THE END OF FEBRUARY, MY 2014 CTS 3.6 AWD STARTED TO HAVE NOISE FROM THE REAR END WHILE DRIVING. THE NOISE BECOMES LOUDER IF I DRIVE FASTER AND THE CAR WOBBLES. I FEEL EXTREME UNSAFE AND HAVE VISITED INDIVIDUAL MECHANICS, AND MECHANICS TOLD ME THE ISSUE IS FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS, AND CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THROUGH MY RESEARCH, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE COMMON AMONG THE CTS MODEL. HOWEVER, WHILE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE CTS VSPORT, NO ACTIONS ARE TAKEN FOR OTHER VERSIONS OF CTS. FROM NHTSA COMPLAINT SITE, SEVERAL COMPLIANT CASES HAVE BEEN FILED FOR THE NON-SPORT CTS. THERE ARE OTHER CASES MENTIONED ACROSS THE INTERNET: HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/UCMIMOHFEPQ . THIS PROBLEM SOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY TO AVOID SAFETY RISKS. I BELIEVE THIS REAR DIFFERENTIAL ISSUE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO 1.GET REPLACEMENT PART AND SERVICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO FIX THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ISSUE ON MY CAR AND GET REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL COSTS 2.URGE THE MANUFACTURER TO PUT THE CTS MAKE ONTO THE RECALL LIST FOR SAFETY OF OTHER CTS OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMALLY LOUD SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT WAS RELATING THE ISSUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V038000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
Rear differential failure at low mileage
I was hit by a truck while parked with the car on and the airbags weren’t deployed the truck hit me going at least 45-60
ON OCTOBER 27TH, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS GOING OUT AND THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE COMPARTMENT. THE SALES REP, NICK, SAID THERE WAS NOT A RECALL AND THE REPAIR WOULD BE $3300. THROUGH MY RESEARCH THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR "DEFECTIVE ROLLING PINS IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL THAT WERE FATIGUING AND FRACTURING AND EVENTUALLY CAUSING THE REAR END TO LOCK UP" BUT ONLY FOR THE 2014 CADILLAC CTS-V NOT THE REGULAR CTS. SINCE THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, I HAD TO RENT A CAR ON 11/11 TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. AFTER CONVERSATIONS NOT RECEIVING ANY COOPERATION FROM CADILLAC CORPORATION, I WAS REFERRED TO GM CORPORATION. THEY NEGOTIATED A DISCOUNT, REDUCING THE COST FOR REPAIR FROM $3300 TO $1400. THE REPAIR WAS NOT COMPLETED UNTIL 12/1. THEY REDUCED THE PRICE BY ANOTHER $500 THE DAY I PICKED UP MY CAR. SO, I PAID $900 FOR THE REPAIR AND $517.17 FOR THE CAR RENTAL (TOTAL $1,417.17). ALTHOUGH THEY SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED THE COST OF THE REPAIR, I STILL BELIEVE THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN EXPENSE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN THE RECALL. THE REAR DIFFERENTIALS IN A CADILLAC CTS-V AND CTS ARE THE SAME. THE CTS-V HAS A STRONGER ENGINE, MEANING MORE TORQUE, WHICH MEANS THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IN THE NORMAL CTS SHOULD LAST EVEN LONGER. MY 2014 CADILLAC ONLY HAD 70,000 MILES; THEREFORE, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT SO SOON. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR ALL COSTS AND SEE THIS ITEM PUT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THE SAFETY AND BENEFIT OF OTHER CTS OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS SISTER WAS DRIVING 40 MPH, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER CONTINUED DRIVING TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED GATEWAY CHEVROLET CADILLAC (501 38TH ST S, FARGO, ND 58103; (701) 282-5522) AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V038000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2014 CADILLAC CTS 3RD GEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL GOING OUT AT WAY TO SOON. BEFORE THE 80K MILE MARK IN ALOT OF THESE CARS. AS EXPENSIVE AND RARE AS THIS PART IS, IT SHOULD NOT BE FAILING OR LEAKING SO SOON, AS IT IS THE MAIN PART THAT MOVES THE WHEELS IN A RWD CAR. I DID NOT BELIEVE IT AT FIRST BUT AFTER MY PURCHASE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT BAD AT ONLY 75K MILES. I REPLACED IT, WITH A USED REAR DIFF THAT HAD ONLY 50K MILES, 10K MILES LATER, IT STARTS LEAKING AND GOING BAD AGAIN. EVEN USED ONES ARE A WHOPPING $1K AND UP. THIS PART SHOULD DEFINITELY BE INVESTIGATED AT ALL DEALERSHIPS NATIONWIDE, I ASSURE YOU THAT THERE IS AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF RECORDS OF THIS PART GOING BAD TO SOON.
I CONTACTED CLAUDE NOLAN CADILLAC JACKSONVILLE FL(DEALER) IN MAY 2020 TO PERFORM A RECALL SERVICE AFTER RECEIVING NOTIFICATION FROM GENERAL MOTORS GLOBAL VEHICLE SAFETY. I WAS INFORMED BY DEALER THAT THE PARTS WERE ON ORDER AND I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS WERE RECEIVED. I CONTACTED THE DEALER ON AUGUST 11TH 2020 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED AN ABNORMAL SMELL WAS COMING THE REAR OF VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO A LOCAL GAS STATION AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS GEAR OIL ON THE EXHAUST AND MUFFLER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER MOSSY CADILLAC LOCATED AT 241 FRONTAGE RD SUITE B, PICAYUNE, MS 39466 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50 MPH, a loud grinding sound came from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear tires needed to be replaced. The contact had both rear tires replaced; however, the loud grinding noise recurred and was also heard a sound when starting the vehicle, shifting into drive(D) and slowly accelerating. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer who determined that the rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. I, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE BEEN WAITING ON PARTS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. GM DOES NOT SEEM TO BE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. WE ARE ALSO BEING PROVIDED WITH LOANER CARS CAR BUT IT WAS NOT ONE I COULD ACCEPT AND AS SUCH, RISK INJURY EVERY TUBE WE DRIVE.*DT*DT*JB*JB

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, FUEL PUMP, BATTERY AND FOUND THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD FAILED. THE TIMING CHAIN WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,400.
THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, PERTAINING TO THE REAR-AXLE DIFFERENTIAL, GM RECALL N192279370. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL DURING THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2020. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE MID-MAY 2020. ON JUNE 29TH 2020, I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER, HARVEY CADILLAC OF GRAND RAPIDS, TO REQUEST THE NECESSARY PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO GIVE ANY TIMELINE ON PARTS AVAILABILITY OR TIMELINE ON REPAIRS. I WAS UNABLE TO GET A LOANER OR RENTAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH HARVEY CADILLAC AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT CADILLAC CUSTOMER CARE FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE. I MADE CONTACT INITIALLY ON JULY 7TH 2020 AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND RECEIVED A BOILERPLATE RESPONSE ABOUT LACK OF PARTS VIA VOICEMAIL. IN DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED TO THE NHTSA, GM STATED THAT COURTESY TRANSPORTATION MAY BE MADE AVAILABLE UNTIL REPAIRS WERE ABLE TO BE MADE, AND REFERENCED COMPANY MEMOS INDICATING HOW THIS WERE TO TAKE PLACE. FURTHER CONTACT TO CADILLAC CUSTOMER CARE REQUESTING THIS LOANER/RENTAL ASSISTANCE VIA MULTIPLE TELEPHONE CALLS, VOICEMAILS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA WENT UNANSWERED. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE CONTACT OR PROMPT ANY RESPONSE SINCE THAT INITIAL JULY 7TH DESPITE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. HARVEY CADILLAC ON AUGUST 17TH STATED NO PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE ON PARTS AVAILABILITY OR A TIME FRAME ON WHEN THE REPAIR COULD BE COMPLETED. TODAY'S DATE IS AUGUST 31ST, 2020, AND IT HAS BEEN NINE WEEKS SINCE I INITIALLY CALLED TO SCHEDULE REPAIRS FOR A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD PUT MY FAMILIES SAFETY AT RISK. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY DEALER AND CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVES THAT I SHOULD AVOID DRIVING THE VEHICLE IF POSSIBLE, AS THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL COULD LOCK UP AND CAUSE A CRASH AT ANY TIME WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, BUT HAVE BEEN GIVEN NO SOLUTION OR ASSISTANCE AS TO HOW TO ACCOMPLISH SUCH A MEASURE. I HAVE NO ESTIMATED DATE WHEN THE REPAIRS COULD BE COMPLETED.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
I CANNOT GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED IN THE ALLOTTED TIME DUE TO PARTS NOT BEING ON HAND ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
CADILLAC CUE SCREEN CRACKING, CREATING A SPIDER WEB APPEARANCE ON THE SCREEN. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN DRIVE WAY ALL DAY AND NIGHT. WHEN I WANT TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT MORNING THE CRACK APPEARED ON CUE SYSTEM. NO ONE HAD USED OUR TOUCH THE SCREEN DURING THAT TIME. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS THE SPIDER WEB KEPT SPREADING. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE ANYTHING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BACKUP CAMERA. GPS IS DIFFICULT TO READ ON LEFT SIDE . *TR
MY 2014 CADILLAC CTS VSPORT IS PART OF GM RECALL N192279370 (FAILURE OF ROLL PINS IN THE REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL). IN EARLY JULY, I BEGAN THE PROCESS TO HAVE THE REPAIR ACCOMPLISHED, BUT THE DEALER (BOB MOORE CADILLAC IN EDMOND, OKLAHOMA) TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THE RECALL. SIX WEEKS HAVE PASSED SINCE THAT INTIAL CONTACT AND THERE ARE APPARENTLY STILL NO PARTS IN STOCK AT ANY LEVEL. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL, WITH THE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF THE FAILURE (LOCKING UP OF BOTH REAR WHEELS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS) BEING VERY SERIOUS. I IMPLORE THE NHTSA TO PRESSURE GM TO COME UP WITH THE NECESSARY ASSETS TO GET THIS ACCOMPLISHED ON ALL 2866 AFFECTED VEHICLES, OR PROVIDE EQUIVALENT TRANSPORTATION UNTIL SUCH TIME IT CAN BE DONE.

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL ONCE THE PARTS ARRIVED. A MONTH LATER THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND HE RECEIVED THE SAME INFORMATION. TWO MONTHS LATER HE CALLED COULTER CADILLAC TEMPE (7780 S AUTOPLEX LOOP BUILDING 200, TEMPE, AZ 85284) WHERE HE WAS AGAIN INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THEY ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT HE HAD TO WAIT A FEW MONTHS FOR THE PARTS TO ARRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING AN ACTIVE RECALL ON MY CADILLAC...MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBERN192279370 AND NHTSA RECALL NUMBER20V038. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL AND IN MAY 2020 THAT THE PARTS TO FIX THE CAR WERE NOW AVAILABLE. I WENT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR AND THE PARTS WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND WERE ON BACK ORDER. AS OF THIS DATE THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS RECALL COULD POTENTIALLY BE A SERIOUS ISSUE, BUT GM SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE DRAGGING THEIR FEET ON FIXING THE PROBLEM! IT WILL SOON BE 5 MONTHS SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PARTS SUPPOSEDLY BEING AVAILABLE BUT MY CAR IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. IT SEEMS A BIT UNREASONABLE TO ME FOR THIS TO BE TAKING SOOOO LONG TO FIX A SERIOUS FLAW IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO SPEED THIS PROCESS UP? MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL SYS IS MAKING A LOUD GRINNING NOISE, I CONTACTED CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE 04/28/20, TO SEE IF IT UNDER RECALL STATUS AND I WAS ADVISED IT WAS NOT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2014 CTS. I HAVE 98139 ON MY CADILLAC AND I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. THAT LOUD GRINNING AND WHINING SOUND IS VERY ANNOYING AND EMBARRASSING. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKES AT FIRST HOWEVER I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM IS CAUSING THE WINNING AND GRINNING SOUND.
REAR DIFFERENTIAL AT RISK OF FAILURE. I CONTACTED CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DID NOT SEE THE RECALL IN THEIR SYSTEM AND ADVISED ME TO CONTACT NHTSA. MY CAR IS A 2014 CTS VSPORT. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE AUGUST OF 2017, AND IT HAD 42,563 MILES WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD 'TIRE ISSUES' WITH THE CAR SINCE DAY 1. THE 1ST WEEK I OWNED THE VEHICLE, THE TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED, ALTHOUGH THEY HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE, THE CAR WAS MAKING VERY LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND IT WAS DETERMINED THEY HAD 'UNEVEN WEAR.' ALONG WITH THIS, THE 'REAR AXLE SYSTEM OFF' LIGHT WOULD OCCASIONALLY COME ON. NOTHING THE DEALER COULD FIND WITH IT AND IT ALWAYS SEEMED THE LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF WHEN IT WAS AT DEALERSHIP. NOW 2 ADDITIONAL SETS OF TIRES, AND THE 'REAR AXLE SYSTEM OFF' LIGHT NOT TURNING OFF, I WAS TOLD REAR AXLE 'PIECES' NEED TO BE REPLACED TO INCLUDE THE REAR AXLE PINS AND PUMP, COSTING 2700.00. ALONG WITH THIS REPAIR THE CAR WILL NEED TO HAVE TIRES REALIGNED DUE TO UNEVEN WEAR AND REAR BRAKES. THE DEALER STATED THEY CANNOT REPLACE THE REAR AXLE UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THE RECALL IS 'INCOMPLETE WITH NO SOLUTION.' IN ADDITION, THEY TOLD ME MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO RISK OF THE REAR TIRES LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

THE STEERING GEAR EXPERIENCED A SHORT CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL. THE ENTIRE MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED.
THE CUE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN CRACKED/WEBBED WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY JOBS PARKING LOT. THIS CAUSED ALL FEATURES USING THE SCREEN INCLUDING HANDSFEE FOR CALLS INOPERABLE. THE DEALER STATES THIS IS A KNOWN RECURRING ISSUE WITH THE 2014 CUE SCREENS. APPARENTLY THEY ARE PRONE TO DELAMINATING AND CRACKING DUE TO A POOR MANUFACTURING GM DESIGN. THEY STATED THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SCREENS YET AND THE REPAIR WILL BE OUT OF POCKET.
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH ON A STRAIGHT, FOUR LANE ROAD. IT MADE A LOUD THUMP AND FELT AS IF THE BRAKES WERE SLAMMED ON. THE CAR PULL HARD LEFT AND THE REAR TIRES WERE SMOKING. MANAGED TO GET THE CAR BACK TO THE RIGHT AND STOPPED AFTER HITTING THE CURB. FORTUNATELY NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED. THE ELSD IS ON BACKORDER AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 90 DAYS.
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IN MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. TWO OF THE MAIN BEARINGS FAILED. WE NOTICED A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE BACK AS WE DROVE. IN AUGUST OF 2019, I TOOK IT TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC AND HE RODE IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. HE HEARD AND FELT THE GRINDING. HE RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE IT TO A REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC. I TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO BAY AREA TRANSMISSIONS. MY VEHICLE WAS ON THE BRINK OF A CATASTOPHIC FAILURE ACCORDING TO THE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC. HE TOOK ME FOR THE TEST DRIVE AND UPON RETURN, IMMEDIATELY PUT IT UP ON THE RACK. REMOVED THE PLUG AND SHOWED ME THE BLACK FLUID AND METAL SHAVINGS ON THE PLUG. HE SAID THAT THE PINNION AND RAR BEARINGS WERE SHOT AND THAT THE WHOLE UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE PARTS FOR THIS ARE NON-EXISTANT. HE FOUND A REFURBISHED UNIT AND REPLACED IT AT THE COST OF $1800.00. I HAD CALLED OUR LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER SERVICE DEPT. THEY QUOTED ME A NEW ONE FOR $2600.00 BUT, DIDN'T HAVE ONE IN STOCK AND COULDN'T TELL ME WHEN OR IF THEY COULD GET ONE. THE CARS DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AS WE HAD 90000 MILES ON OUR VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED IT IN OCTOBER 2018 WITH 68000 MILES ON IT. WE STARTED NOTICING A NOISE FROM THE REAR BACK IN JUNE OF 2019. THERE WERE APPROX. 80000 MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. I WROTE CADILLAC A LETTER AND SENT THEM A COPY OF THE BILL ASKING FOR HELP ON THIS AS I FELT THAT THIS FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A WELL MAINTAINED, LUXURY VEHICLE SUCH AS CADILLAC. THEY RETURNED A CALL TO ME SAYING THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THAT THEY COULD DO. I TOLD THEM THAT THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND LOSS OF LIFE. THEY DON'T SEEM TO CONCERNED. I INFORMED THEM THAT I WAS GOING TO CONTACT THE NHTSA. I'M WRITING BECAUSE I'VE READ THAT THIS TYPE OF FAILURE HAPPENS IN THESE VEHICLES MORE OFTEN THAN GM WOULD LIKE TO ADMIT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROMISED TO CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated while driving approximately 10-15 MPH, there was an abnormal whining sound detected coming from the rear axle. The contact called the local dealer and inquired about an estimate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
