My drivers side heated seat burned when initiated switch after a while. I felt extreme heat while driving and turned off seat heating switch. I did not take to dealer for further inspection. I seen on a forum someone else had the same issue
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE FUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL STARTED TO LEAK FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURES TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 00V153000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). COLE VALLEY CADILLAC LOCATED AT (4111 ELM RD NE, WARREN, OH 44483) AND PRESTON CADILLAC LOCATED AT (3510 WILMINGTON RD, NEW CASTLE, PA 16105) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 167,000.
FUEL TANK BEGINS LEAKING WHEN STARTING UP VEHICLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ABS WOULD ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATE CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PULSATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
BRAKE AND FUEL LINES CRITICALLY RUSTED. THIS IS NOT A SALT ONLY ISSUES. THIS IS A MATERIAL DEFECT THAT CADILLAC SHOULD BE FORCE TO RECALL THIS IS A POTENTIAL LIFE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY. *TR
SMELLED GAS FUMES COMING FROM GAS TANK AREA. A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN THE GAS TANK AREA THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS THIS MAY IGNITE CAUSING FIRE. WE SAW ON LINE THAT THERE WAS INDEED A RECALL OF THIS CAR MODEL FOR THE SAME ABOVE CITED REASON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE AND WOULD THEN SLIP INTO NEUTRAL. THE GRINDING NOISE WOULD ALSO BE A RESULT OF THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE SLIPPING INTO 2-WHEEL DRIVE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE TRANSFER CASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE TO ACCOMMODATE TRAFFIC, BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT DISENGAGE; MY VEHICLE SLOWED A FEW MILES PER HOUR AND THEN RAPIDLY ACCELERATED, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I TRIED TO BRAKE AGAIN, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED! ONLY WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL WAS I ABLE TO STOP! I HAVE READ A FEW OTHER SIMILAR REPORTS IN WHICH THE CAR WAS NOT EVEN USING CRUISE CONTROL AND AM NOW AFRAID OF GETTING INTO A "TOYOTA"-TYPE ACCIDENT EVEN IF I DO NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE PASSENGER SIDE VIEW MIRROR ON MY 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE "EXPLODED" LEAVING GREEN GOO ALL ALONG THE SIDE OF THE CAR. THE MIRROR SHATTERED FROM THE FACE PLATE ASSEMBLY WHICH ITSELF POPPED OFF THE MIRROR COWLING, LEAVING IT DANGLING BY ITS THREE CONNECTOR WIRES. COST TO REPAIR: $500 FROM THE DEALER (NICHOLAS CHEVROLET, GARDEN GROVE, CA). THE PARTS PERSON TOLD ME "THIS THING HAPPENS A LOT ON ESCALADES." *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE REAR CONTINENTAL SPORTIVA (SIZE P265/70R16) TIRES BLEW OUT. THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SHREDDED. THE CONTACT DID NOT DRIVE OVER ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE LED TO SUCH A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 81,000.
I HAD 2000 YEAR MODEL ESCALADE SUV. FIVE YEARS AGO IT PRESENTED THE PROBLEM OF REAR COMPARTMENT AIR BLOWER NOT STOPPING ON TURNING THE ENGINE OFF. BATTERY WAS GETTING DRAINED. NO HELP FROM GM. I TOOK THE FUSE OFF FOR THE AIR BLOWER TO STOP BATTERY DRAIN. TWO YEARS LATER I PUT THE FUSE BACK TO CHECK IT . IT FUNCTIONED OK. IS IT ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH OF THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE FLASHER DIMMED WITHOUT WARNING. HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE LIGHTS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FLASHER LIGHT COMPONENT IS TIED IN TOGETHER, WHICH COULD CAUSE A FAILURE. THERE IS A UNIT THAT COULD BE TIED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT HAS NOT NOTIFIED THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE HE WANTED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS A RECALL. NO RECALLS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 68,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
TL*- THE CONTACT CALLED TO REPORT THAT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AND RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR INTERNAL FLUID LEAKS IN THE BRAKE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (RECALL # 00V114000). THE CONTACT CALLED AN AUTHORIZED DEALER LAST WEEK AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CAR HAS ALSO STALLED WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OF TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT HAS OCCURRED OVER 10 TIMES.
WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND CONNECTOR CORRODE, ABS LIGHT ON AND ABS BRAKING AT DIFFERENT TIMES. REPLACED SENSOR AND CONNECTOR. GM HAS A RECALL FOR PICK UPS FOR THIS SAME THING. NEEDS TO INCLUDE ESCALADE. *JB
ANTILOCK BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. VEHICLE LOSSES CONTROL AT LOW RATES OF SPEED WHEN BRAKING ON WET/SLICK SURFACES. RECENTLY HAS SPUN 360 DEGREES ON A LEFT HAND TURN IN WET WEATHER, TRAFFIC CONDITIONS WERE FAVORABLE AND NO DAMAGE OCCURRED .CONTINUAL PROBLEMS IN COLD WEATHER, BRAKES WILL FAIL WHEN SLOWING FOR STOP SIGNS/RED LIGHTS ,NO CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND IT SLIDES UNTIL IN LOSES MOMENTUM OR BRAKES KICK BACK IN. AGAIN HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE AND OTHER VEHICLES STEER CLEAR. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S TIRES SPLIT ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ON ALL FOUR OCCASIONS, THE TIRE THAT SPLIT WAS THE SAME SIZE AND MADE BY THE SAME MANUFACTURER. THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR TIRE SPLITS SINCE 33000 AND 68000 MILES AND THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT THEY WERE DEFECTIVE. THE TIRE WAS COOPER LIFELINER TOURING SLE (H-RATED), SIZE: 225/60R16.*AK UPDATED 10/17/2006 - WHEN IONE OF THE TIRE SEPARATED IT DAMAGED THE VEHICLE'S WWHEEL WELL LINING, TORE APART TWO WIRING HARNESSES, AND DAMAGED TEH BUMPER. *NM
GAS LEAKING. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING UNDER 10 MPH ON SLIPPERY OR WET ROAD CONDITIONS, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR RESULTING IN DECREASED STOPPING POWER. THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE REPAIRS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND TURNING SHARPLY LEFT OR RIGHT THE FRONT TIRES RUBBED THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHUTTER, THIS HAPPENED EITHER IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. UPON INSPECTION THE FRONT TIRE ROD ENDS WERE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE THE CORRECT SIZE. HOWEVER , REPLACING THE TIRE ROD ENDS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 06/05/2006. *AK *TS
CLAYTON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT ENGINE 1 RESPONDED TO A SERVICE CALL FOR A HEATED SEAT IN A CADILLAC ESCALADE THAT CAUGHT FIRE. THE OWNER STATED THAT SHE STARTED THE CAR AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SEAT. SHE INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THAT THE DRIVER SEAT WAS BURNING. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE OWNER. CLAYTON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT DISCONNECTED THE POWER SOURCE TO THE SEAT. THE ONLY DAMAGE OBSERVED WAS TO THE WIRING UNDER THE SEAT, AND A BURN MARK ON THE LEATHER SEAT. AS A POINT OF REFERENCE OUR INCIDENT REPORT # IS: 06-0000373. *NM
DT: 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. WHEN THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER THEY HAD TO PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN IT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS THE THROTTLE GASKET. THE VEHICLE JUST HAD THE 30,000 MILE CHECK UP TWO WEEKS AGO. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS AT THIS TIME. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHT BEFORE THIS AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.*AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING I LEANED BACK ON THE SEAT AND THE LOWER LEFT FRONT OF SEAT PULLED UP ABRUPTLY, IT CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HAVE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I CHECKED OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED , THE SEAT TRACK THAT ATTACHES THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT TO THE GLIDE RAILS PULLED THROUGH THE BOLT AND SNAPPED OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED GM ABOUT REPLACEMENT , THEY SAID THEY WILL GET BACK TO ME . THE PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. *JB

MY 2000 ESCALADE STARTED HAVING A STRONG GAS SMELL FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE RESULT WAS THE VEHICLE HAD A CRACKED GAS TANK ON THE TOP. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGE KEEP FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS THAT I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE WITH AN ELECTRIC HOT WATER HEATER RIGHT BESIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FUMES COULD HAVE EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING OR JUST SITTING IN OUR GARAGE. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO OTHERS?*AK

WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH TREAD SEPARATED ON THE TIRE, CAUSING A BLOW OUT. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER AND CHANGE THE TIRE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. GOODYEAR, 265/75R16 . *AK
DT: 2000 CADILLAC ESCALATE. THE ABS WILL ACTIVE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED OCCURRING IN JUNE 2004. THIS WILL HAPPEN AT SLOW SPEEDS, AT 10 MPH AND UNDER. THE BRAKES WILL ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO DRAG FURTTHER THAN NECESSARY BEFORE STOPPING. THE CONSUME TTOK N IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST 6 TIMES. HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED TWICE, AND BOUGHT FOUR NEW TIRES. TSB 02-05-25-006A WA SISSUE DFOR THE ANTI LOCK ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY TOLD HER THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER FELT THIS WASX A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THAT THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.*AK
BOTH WHEELS HITS THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WASS ACTIVATED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RELEASE WHEN CAR IS PUT INTO DRIVE. OCCURS ABOUT 95% OF THE TIME AND IT IS NECESSARY TO RELEASE MANUALLY. WHEN USING THE MANUAL RELEASE, THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL COMES UP FAST AND INJURES HAND. HAD THE BRAKE RATCHET ASSEMBLY REPLACED ONCE BY DEALER. SIX MONTH LATER, THE PROBLEM IS BACK. *JB
WHILE DRIVING MY CADILLAC ESCALADE (YR. 2000) TO A BUSINESS MEETING THE HEATED DRIVER SEAT WAS ON AND BURNED THROUGH THE LEATHER AND BURNED ME AS WELL. I HAD TO DO AN EMERGENCY PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD IN ORDER TO AVOID GETTING BURNED SEVERELY. I ALMOST WRECKED MY VEHICLE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE HEAT WAS SO INTENSE THAT I HAD TO LIFT BY BOTTOM OFF THE SEAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-45 MILES PER HOUR. I TOOK MY VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN A HEATED SEAT GET THAT HOT BEFORE ON ANY VEHICLE TYPE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINED THAT THE CAUSE WAS A SHORT IN THE HEATER BUT A SHORT IS SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY TURN OF THE HEATER. THEY ESTIMATED THE HEATER GOT UP TO 140-150 DEGREES IN ORDER FOR IT TO BURN THE LEATHER SEAT. I CONTACTED CADILLAC TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SEAT AND THEY STATED THEY HAD NO RECALLS ON 2000 CADILLAC ESCALADES FOR THE HEATED SEATS. I SIMPLY REQUESTED FOR THEM TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE SEAT BUT THEY STATED THAT MY WARRANTY AND CONTRACT DID NOT COVER THAT TYPE OF MALFUNCTION. NOW I AM AFRAID FOR ANY OF ALL THE OTHER HEATED SEATS (PASSENGER AND BACK SEATS) TO BE TURNED ON. *CB
VEHICLE VIBRATES SEVERELY. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE 2 FRONT TIRES WERE BAD, AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THEM. THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. PLEASE PUT THE CORRECT MODEL OF YOUR VEHICLE. PH
2000 ESCALADE SUV FUEL PUMP-THREE WIRES INSIDE BURNING AND MELTING TOGETHER-MY MECHANIC SHOP HAS PART AND OTHER ONES THAT HE HAS REPLACED-WE FEEL THAT ONE DAY THERE WILL BE AN EXPLOSION IN FUEL TANK-SPOKE WITH ONE OF YOUR INVESTAGATORS A FRANK BARRIS WHO TOLD ME TO REPORT THIS.
THIS TO REPORT A NON-CRASH INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE INVOLVED IS A 2000 CADILLAC DEVILLE, DTS. THE BACK SEAT RESTRAINT SYSTEM HAS BEEN USED WITH A CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS ONLY. OTHER THAN THAT, IT HAS SEEN LITTLE USE AT ALL. THIS SUMMER THE RETRACTOR QUIT WORKING AND THE DIFFERENTIAL SLIDING DEVICE BROKE IN HALF. I REPORTED THIS TO THE CADILLAC DEALER. HE REFUSED TO SERVICE THE RESTRAINT BELT SYSTEM AS A WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAD ONLY BEEN USED FOR 2 YEARS AND APX. 12,000 MILES. I WAS SHOCKED AND TOLD HIM I WOULD REPORT THIS. HE SAID GO AHEAD. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE FAILED COMPONENTS I WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE. PLEASE ADVISE HOW TO DO THAT.
WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 65 MPH THE STEERING WENT OUT AND LIGHTS WERE FLICKING ON AND OFF ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS INCIDENT HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE. *NLM

ALSO REPLACED MASS AIR FLOW DUE TO INTERMITTENT ENGINE ROUGH IDLE/TRANSMISSION: CONTROL PMODULE, PCM FAILURE/ RADIATOR/ WATER PUMP/SERPENTINE BELT/ ENGINE CRANKSHAFT/REFLECTOR MISSING ON DRIVER'S DOOR AND WAS REPLACED, AND REAR ARM REST HOLDER BECAME LOOSE. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CONSTANTLY CAME ON. *AK

JACKING UP A 2000 CADILLAC DEVILLE AND THE VERY FLIMSY JACK FAILED AND THE CAR COME DOWN WITH MY ARM BETWEEN THE WHEEL WELL AND THE TIRE AS I REPLACED THE FLAT TIRE. DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF JACK SIMPLY TO SAVE MONEY ON A PART RARELY USED. *JB

THE TRUNK FLOODED DURING A HEAVY RAIN FALL. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND THE SEAL AROUND THE BACK DOOR HAD COME APART. THE CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER WAS IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SCC
FRONT BRAKE PADS ARE WEARING OUT EXCESSIVELY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 26,000 MILES, DEALER MADE REPAIRS. *AK THE BRAKES ON THE FRONT HAVE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE PADS. THE INDICATOR WHICH LETS YOU KNOW WHEN YOU HAVE WORN OUT PADS ARE ON THE OUTSIDE PADS. THE INSIDE PADS WERE BOTH WORN OUT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CONSUMER PUT FOOT ON BRAKE TO PUT IN GEAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE. VEHICLE ACELLERATED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE OTHER VEHICLE RAN INTO A TREE. HER FOOT WAS ON BRAKES DURING THIS THIS INCIDENT. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
