The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The vehicle had previously been serviced at the dealer under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V473000 (Suspension) however, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle after the recall repair was performed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and diagnosed with strut failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front sway bar was loose. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Purchase the vehicle less than a month ago, drove it for the first time at night and the headlight visibility was horrible.it was so horrible it scared the s*** out of me!! I had to pull over and wait till day light. I was afraid I was gone get hit or I was gone hit some one.what a scary situation. I am so disappointed in GMC and Cadillac!! People lives are in DANGER!!!! Please HELP!!!!
I've had my 2014 Cadillac SRX for a little over a year and had a dealership run the VIN to ensure this particular vehicle had no issues. A couple of months ago, I was returning from a late night assignment and after leaving the city limits realized I couldn't see. I was on a 4 lane mountainous road. At a traffic signal I pulled into the turn of road and flashed the lights to make sure they were on. I had approximately 5 more miles to go and started wondering how I was going to get home since I couldn't really see the road. I started to call the police but decided not to -- I'm new to the area, it's rural and I'm and AA woman over 55 years old -- too many variables not in my favor. So I started praying, drove in the on the white line in the center of the highway because I couldn't see the edges. It took me quite a while driving at 15 mph to make it home. By the time I arrived home I was shaking like a leaf in the wind. I have never felt so scared and unsafe in my life. I actually went to my eye doctor again because I thought I was having eye issues since I wear contacts. Then I thought well maybe I just can't drive at night anymore. I discovered neither were an issue. I stopped by the local Cadillac dealership to have the lights checked. I happened to mention to the service guy my incident on the road and he proceeds to inform me that the headlights on this SRX has issues but there is no recall. I researched this on the internet later and discovered the stories of so many others in my same situation. Supposedly GM issued a letter to owners a couple of years ago but has followed done little follow through with reimbursements. I am appalled considering that this is clearly a safety issue. However, two lawsuits were filed in 2017 and 2019. Is NHTSA going to demand that GM conduct a recall? Headlights are a safety necessity and required by law. I now have to replace the headlights in order to drive at night and in bad weather.
THE HEADLIGHT HAVE BECOME SO DIM I CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE AT NIGHT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ARTICLES/LAWSUITS REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED.
Headlamps are very weak on low beams.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH at night, the visibility was reduced due to the headlamps not properly illuminating the roadway. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the reflector inside the headlamps were faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Factory headlights have bulbs that are known to be too hot and many owners have dim issues on low beams - we can’t drive safely at night or early am as our drivers side headlight is not reflecting any light to the road and dim on passenger side. The issue we are told is the bulbs heat has caused burning to the assembly and dulls the projected light. There was a reimbursement some for California owners but not nationwide. Complete assembly replacements are needed and cost will be about $1300-$1500. We have to turn on high beams to see to drive at night…very unsafe.
The low beam headlights provide very little illumination. Driving this vehicle at night is a safety hazard due to low light illumination. As a result, I use the high beams for better illumination coverage at night or under low light conditions. This problem is progressive and has degenerated over time. The vehicle was taken to a dealership and local repair shop. Replacing the headlight assembly was the final solution from both mechanics ($2000 repair) which is temporary as the problem will reoccur. The low beam reflective lamp housing is scorched or deteriorated due to high halogen bulb heat. I was not involved in any accidents concerning this issue. Driving this vehicle with the low beams on is like having no lights on at all.
There appears to be a known issue with 2010-2016 Cadillac SRX models related to defective seals on the headlights that allow moisture to accumulate and condense, therefore damaging and dimming the headlight bulbs. My vehicle is a 2014 model and has recently been afflicted with this problem. The light quality has degraded so completely that I cannot drive the vehicle at night. In my research, it appears that this is a known and frequent issue with the 2010-2016 models. Apparently there have been class action lawsuits in the past and the manufacture at one point had a reimbursement program but that has since expired and the dealerships are instructed to simply replace the bulbs and reflectors, NOT actually repair the seal problem. ie. The issue will only repeat itself, particularly in warm Florida climates. Itr is my hope and others that a formal recall should be issued for adequate replacement of the headlights with good seals.
Headlights are so dim that you cannot see to drive at night or after dusk. I have to use the high beams in order to drive at night, so I drive with the high beams, then other drivers are flashing their lights at me to dim my lights, I can’t believe there is no recall on this problem because if there is a safety problem, it would be driving at night and not being able to see where you are going. I also noticed that of all the complaints about this year, make and model, 90% of all complaints were this same problem. Come on nhsta recall this problem!
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the headlights dimmed, causing the contact to not see the road ahead. The contact was pulled over by the police on three separate occasions because the headlights failed to illuminate as needed. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
Class action lawsuit was file for headlights that go dim after life of the vehicle. I never received letter in regards to lawsuit and dealer will not help to replace headlights. This should be a recall headlights are very important dealer and manufacture are aware of this headlight issue because of the class action lawsuit they settled. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL HEADLIGHTS GO DIM NO VISIABILITY AT NIGHT!!!! Manufacture recommends to replace out of pocket expense to consumer knowing it is a manufacture defect on their part. No accident but many close calls.
The low beam headlights have become so dim that they are virtually useless for night driving. The only way I can drive after dark is with the brights which creates a safety blinding hazard for oncoming vehicles. In going on line I have found this has been an ongoing problem for several years but GM or Cadillac Motors has never announced a recall. The problem is not the bulb or even the globe.
Since we moved to the East Coast, four years ago, the headlights on the 2014 SRX have slowly dimmed until they are completely ineffectual. When looking out the front window on a dark road, there is only a very dim, barely perceptible, lightening of the road directly in front of the car when the headlights are turned on. When approaching another car, the headlights resemble running lights or parking lights and could easily be overlooked in snow or heavy rain. Similar complaints are everywhere online, some indicating that internal Cadillac service memos cite defective seals that allow moisture to enter and corrode the whole light housing and that the only fix is replacing both the light assemblies for $2000...WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART! $2000 represents close to 13% of the Kelly Blue Book Value of the car. For a few months, coinciding with the initial Covid outbreak, Cadillac offered some people (not us) the option of having the light assemblies replaced and applying for a reimbursement within a very narrow time window. I never heard about this at the time and have no idea how these people were selected for notification and contacted. I would like to see Cadillac accept responsibility and recall the part which is obviously a huge safety issue!
2014 CADILLAC SRX. CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FROM VEHICLE REPAIRS MADE REGARDING REAR AXLE.
My car is undriveable after sunset because of low beam dim headlights. My car is a 2014 Cadillac SRX with 74971 miles. I've had a estimate of $1763.24 to fix problem at Labadie Cadillac in Bay City, MI. After investigation this has been a problem known to you for years, I don't understand why a safety recall has not already been ordered against GM, we can't see where we're going at night, that sounds like a safety problem to me. I know GM has paid for repairs after class action lawsuits, but why wasn't a safety recall ordered by you?
Unable to see safely driving at night especially during rainy or snowy driving. Headlamps are so dim my automatic high beams go on constantly even when opposing traffic are coming towards me. I purchased the Cadillac used 2021. I called the Cadillac dealer they stayed Cadillac used to reimburse owners prior to last year. I cannot afford $3400 for replacing the headlamps! This is putting my family and opposing traffic at high risk for an accident.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V473000 (Suspension). The vehicle was repaired but after retrieving the vehicle it was discovered that the ABS, Stabilitrak and traction control warning lights were all illuminated. The cause of the failure was not determined. The service center refused to repair the additional issues. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 127,249.
Headlights are so dim at night that I have to use highbeams to see properly which is extremely dangerous. This is a ongoing problem I have had since I bought the vehicle and it is getting worse. I try not to drive at night because of this issue. A recall by GM should be immediately initiated. The estimate I received to replace is more than $1,600! Why would there be such a high cost to replace when this issue has been happening since purchasing the vehicle?

The original factory headlights (low beams specifically) are not bright enough to safely drive at night. We have attempted to just replace the bulbs to stronger LEDs but it resulted in such a minimal change - indicating a larger issue. There are several online accounts of the same issue with no sort of recall.
The stock halogen headlights (low beams) are so dim you can't tell if they are on or not. New halogen bulbs did not help. I replaced them with LED units at my own expense.
you can not see the highway at night.one has to slow down or stop to see.the only way to see is with the high beams on,which is unsafe for other drivers coming toward you.on other ocassions,i simply had to pull over to the side of the road.
Headlights are so dim I have to use highbeams to see properly so both the dim lighting and having to use highbeams is very dangerous. Even after replacing bulbs in the headlights with the brightest bulbs available for the car, the headlights are too dim to see the road or anything while driving at night. This creates a safety hazard for the drivers and passengers in the car and other drivers on the road. Even the lines on roads are not clearly visible unless they are freshly painted. GM refuses to fix the problem and the replacement lenses do the same thing when paid to be replaced by the car owner.
PROBLEM: LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON 2014 CADILLAC SRX: With age, the low beam headlights become too dim to drive at night even though there is nothing wrong with the actual headlight bulb. The problem is related to the materials and design of the Cadillac SRX headlight assemblies. The reflector of the low beam headlight is made of plastic with a chrome coating. The heat of the OEM bulb deteriorates the chrome coating on the reflector until it appears as the dull white color of the plastic base material. Without the chrome coating the low beam headlights are very dim. Replacing the headlight bulb will not remedy the situation. The only fix is to replace the entire headlight assembly and this is usually done at a dealership because the whole front grill/bumper must be removed). During 2019 and 2020 Cadillac had a reimbursement program for people that complained or owners that received letters about the program which was handled by a 3rd party. There had been complaints to Cadillac about these low output headlights but they kept this problem out of the public realm by quietly settling with those customers. The estimate I received today from Everett Chevrolet-Cadillac in Hickory NC was $1900 to replace both headlight assemblies with factory original parts. I spoke to Cadillac customer care today and they said they may possibly assist in the replacement but I would have to submit a written estimate to them for review. If Cadillac is not responsible for this problem then why have they paid for replacements in the past and why will they consider paying for them now on a case by case basis? These aging Cadillac SRX models are not safe to be on the roads with these dim low beam headlights. Owners either have to be very careful or use their high beam headlights in night time traffic.

2014 CADILLAC SRX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SAFETY RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT THE FAILURE.
I recently purchased this vehicle and have discovered that you cannot see the road at night with dim beam, the cause is the reflector compartment on the light modules burns up from the heat generated by the light and takes away the reflector capabilities that give out light to the road. I am forced to currently drive with main beam everywhere which is a big safety issue. I investigated to see if tis is just my car and have found on You Tube that it is a major issue with is car model. I am told that if I take the car in and pay to have it fixed that GM will reimburse in their own time. This is not acceptable, it should have been addressed by your department years ago and it is not on the recall list why? No accidents for us yet but we cannot drive the car after dark unless very important reason then full beam and my wife will not drive it at all at night! I will wait to hear back from you before I pursue this further but time is of the essence here so please respond soon. Thank You. Low beam headlights are dim. The vehicle is unsafe to drive at night or in low light conditions There has not been an incident at this time. Because of the dim light condition I am afraid to drive the vehicle at night
The floor mat does not stay in place and can get jammed behind the break peddle preventing breaking.

The headlamp assembly is faulty. There is virtually no visibility from headlights. The headlamps were so bad, I was put at risk because I was almost hit head on by an oncoming vehicle at night. I had to veer off the road to avoid collision, risking mine and my daughter's life. It has been inspected by dealership and confirmed the headlight assembly faulty because of damage to internal component. An independent service center diagnosed and confirmed as well.
There was a recall on the toe links, but the dealer did not follow procedures. The toe link was replaced during a recall, but the mechanic never aligned the wheels. This should be standard process and should come free after the recall takes place. They never get back to me after a service request.
