This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured April 14, 2009, to September 1, 2014, and 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X vehicles manufactured February 1, 2011, to September 13, 2011. On the affected vehicles, the jam nut in the rear suspension toe adjuster link may not be torqued to the proper specification. A loose toe adjuster link can cause the vehicle to sway or wander at highway speeds. A loose toe adjuster link may lead to thread damage and eventual failure. Failure of the toe adjuster link will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.

ABS- TRACTION CONTROL- BRAKE- POWERSTEERING ALARM APPEARS STATING TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION- HAVE TAKEN THE VECHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY STATE THEY CAN NOT REPAIR THE ALARM- I ASKED IF THIS WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A RECALL ISSUE DUE TO SAFTEY ISSUE. AS THE CAR STATES IT IS NOT SAFE TO BE DRIVEN- AS I SEE THIS A AN IMMINATE SAFTEY HAZARD AS THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK AND ABS BRAKE DOES NOT WORK AND TRACTION CONTROL DOES NOT WORK.
Low beam headlights extremely dim. Feels like driving with parking lights only. Very difficult to see. While checking different positions of the headlight switch discovered that in the parking light position ALL lights go off.
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the headlight wiring harness for the low beam headlights produced a burning odor. The contact believed that the burning odor was coming from loose terminal connections, which caused the terminals to overheat and melt. The headlights were inoperable. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
The low beams make it impossible to see at night. I replaced the bulbs to high visibility LED and still nothing. It's so dim and bad I have to drive with high beams on. It's terrible that it's been like this for 4 years and still we have no recall on the headlights when they now there's a problem with the reflective material and/or condensation on the inside of the headlight.
Low beam lights are extremely dim pretty sure it’s caused by the projector screen infront on the bulbs not allowing enough light to come thru. Can not see the road infront of you or around the side or your car when needing to make a turn, extremely dangerous
For years I did not drive at night because I could not see the road well enough to feel secure driving after dark. Fast forward when my daughter asked me if my headlights were on, I realized it was the dim headlights on low beam that was the issue all these years and not my eyesight at night. I have a 2014 Cadillac SRX. Never received a safety notice or recall from GM nor the dealership. This has been proven to be a major GM problem they should be required to fix.
While on low beam, the headlights are WAY too dim. Apparently, this is a common and well known problem. I just purchased this car, have replaced the bulbs, checked the voltage and cleaned the lens. I cannot see to drive at night on low beam.
Complaint: 2014 Cadillac SRX Dim Headlights Subject: URGENT SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECT: Severely Dim Headlights on 2014 Cadillac SRX (Affecting 2010-2016 Model Years) – Failure to Act Despite Class Action and NHTSA Complaints Vehicle Information: * Year: 2014 * Make: Cadillac * Model: SRX * VIN [XXX] 4 * Owner/Complainant [XXX] r * Contact [XXX] [XXX] m 1. The Defect and Safety Hazard The headlights on my 2014 Cadillac SRX have become severely and progressively dim, constituting a major safety hazard for night driving. * Hazard: The lack of adequate light output dramatically reduces visibility, compromises the driver's ability to see obstacles, and increases the risk of a severe accident during operation at night, dusk, or in poor weather. This is a critical failure of a core safety component. * Cause: The root cause is a well-documented design flaw in the headlight assembly (affecting 2010-2016 models) that allows moisture to enter the sealed unit. This moisture degrades the internal reflective coating, permanently destroying the light's effective output. 2. Failure to Act Despite Known Issues General Motors (GM) and the appropriate safety regulators have been aware of this critical defect for years, yet no mandatory safety recall has been issued: * NHTSA Complaint History: According to public records, complaints regarding this exact issue have been "pouring in" for the last five years or more. The high volume of complaints clearly demonstrates a systemic, widespread, and dangerous failure across this vehicle platform. * Class Action Lawsuits: This defect has been the subject of class action litigation against General Motors, further establishing that the company is fully aware of the design flaw and the resulting safety hazard. 3. The Unacceptable Repair Burden I am being forced to bear the cost of replacing the defective assembly with a new part that utilizes the same fundamentally flawed design. Safety Defect Remedies on 2014 Cadillac SRX (VIN: [XXX] ) Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing as the owner of a 2014 Cadillac SRX, VIN [XXX] , to address two critical safety defects that I believe are the manufacturer's responsibility to remedy. Water Intrusion and Electrical Failure: My vehicle has a known defect where water from the sunroof consistently leaks into the trunk. This water repeatedly causes electrical damage to the component located under the spare tire. I have personally replaced this component on three separate occasions, only to have it fail again after rain. This recurring failure disables my rear windshield wiper, a crucial safety feature. Driving with my child in the car while unable to clear the rear window is the most unsafe I have ever felt. Dangerously Dim Headlights: The front headlights are dangerously dim and do not provide adequate illumination for safe night driving. This is a well-documented issue with this model and poses a clear and present danger to my family and others. I have already spent my own money attempting to fix a problem that is a design flaw. I have no desire to pay for any further remedies for these issues. As the manufacturer, General Motors is responsible for the safety of its vehicles. I have also filed a formal complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding these matters. I await your prompt response and a clear plan to resolve these critical safety issues at no cost to me. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Vehicle VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: 134,683 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I have been trying to enjoy this vehicle from the time it became part of my life. The first 6 months, I was unable to close the sunroof, because of that my passenger seat cracked since its been exposed to the sun for 5 years, the driver's side window could not roll down which we fixed; I never owned a vehicle where I could not access my trunk. The first 6 months of having this vehicle the lifgate became inoperable. the lift gate does not work. The sensors of the vehicle are useless, the car radioi does not work the cue sticks, which can be distracting and can cause an accident so I use the YouTube on my phone for entertainment. The sensors led to the transmission deteriorating to the point of the transmission fluid burning faster and deteriorating the components of the transmission. This is going to cost me 6000.00 These are known manufacture defects for the SRX 2014. Please help
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the ABS control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
I started my car using the remote start. When I opened my car the driver side seat was smoking and a hole had been burned in the back. The inside of the hole was red and appeared to be light up like a hot coil. I turned my car off and tapped/blew on the area to put out the little fire.
The ABS control module in my car is inoperable. I have lights on for ABS, brakes, and stabiltrac. Upon further investigation the ABS module is no longer available and no aftermarket part available. This leaves my car useless being I no longer feel safe driving it. If I lock up brakes in an emergency, my car could go into an uncontrollable slide (being front wheel drive) especially on wet roads. This would hold true for all of this make and many year models therefore many unsafe vehicles on road without the ABS braking control. I am at a loss....
Cadillac cue system started with spider veins on screen then stopped working at same time light gate goes up and down on its own when driving very dangerous, sometimes when parked it will go up part way down up again and then close someone walks by might hurt them shame Cadillac will not admit to this mistake on a 50000 car

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH, the infotainment screen intermittently darkened and became inoperable. Additionally, the back-over prevention camera was intermittently inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an unknown component failure that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Vehicle has dangerous and life threatening transmission problem that has cause me to lose control of my vehicle. Problem with jerking and cutting off started approximately in 2022 with 2 visits to shop for repair. In May 2023 until 2024, vehicle has been in repair shop for repairing including replacing transmission with a rebuilt transmission. Repair shop said vehicle is still u nsafe and may need to replace tranmission computer . Repairs has already caused me almost $20,000.
I noticed that changing out my headlight bulbs on my vehicle that I still could not see at night. I also bought a very good brand / new led lights for my 2014 srx. I have done research and noticed the headlights itself seems to be an issue on a lot of these specific vehicles . It makes it very hard at night to see and honestly makes it very dangerous to drive it darker areas without keeping my brights on .
The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the headlights were extremely dim, making it difficult to see while driving at night. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case opened. The failure mileage was 16,000.
The seals on the factory headlight housings are faulty. They allow moisture into the low beam unit which blocks the light from projecting properly. The car is also safe to drive at night time.
