The interior dash caught on fire and burned only in the middle of the dashboard. This happened hours after it started smoking inside the car and the headlights would not turn off even though they were already off.
Lights malfunction. Headlights dim intermittently, turn signal causes headlights to turn off, dashboard lights do not work, running lights work intermittently. The splice pack in the fuse box is burnt and so are the wires connected to it.
Front subframe. Pulls one way during acceleration and pulling the opposite way during braking
The splicer connected to the fuse box in the engine burns up after a while of use causing the Dash lights, right brake light and front marker light to not work at night. It is a major safety issue and hundreds/thousands of complaints online (via google) have been made about it burning up.
This is happening to my car. Would like them to fix it . Manufacture defect and it is a huge safety issue. Effect pedal function. Some customers may comment on an intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) being Illuminated with a message or an indicator that displays Reduced Engine Power. The technician may observe on a scan tool DTC P2138 - Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation set as Current or in History. This condition may be caused by water intrusion into the instrument panel (IP) to body harness connector, which carries the APP sensor signals to the ECM/PCM. This water intrusion results in a voltage difference between APP Sensor 1 and APP Sensor 2 that exceeds a predetermined value for more than a calibrated period of time, setting P2138. This technical bulletin provides repair information for repairing the ip to body harness connector to correct a customer concern for intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illuminated with reduced engine power displayed and dtc p2138 set. POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING OUT, RELEASE VALVE GETS STUCK.

A DEER WAS HIT IN THE FRONT HOOD AND BUMPER OF THIS CAR WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF COUNTY ROAD AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
IT DOESN'T RUN AFTER THE SIDE DRIVER FRONT LIGHT GOT MESSED UP, IT OVER HEATS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SWITCH GEARS AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO COMMUNITY CHEVROLET (200 W OLIVE AVE, BURBANK, CA 91502, (866) 610-2450) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE AND AIR BAG WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,794.
SO I WAS AT HOME AND MY CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE INSIDE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. IT DAMAGED THE DASHBOARD AND THE WINDOW. MY ELECTRICAL PANEL WAS DEFECTIVE, SENT IN 4 TIMES AND THEY CLAIMED TO REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL PANEL. IT WAS RIGGED BY CROSSING WIRES AND LIGHTS IN DASH DONT WORK AND RADIO TAPPED INTO WIPERS. THEN CALIPERS,SWAY ARMS,SHOCKS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND ALSO NEVER REPLACED RIGHT. PAID SOMEONE TO PUT EMISSIONS STICKER TO PASS.
I TRY TO PUT A SEAT BELT ON A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT AND IT DOSE NOT WORK AT ALL. THE STEERING ON MY AVEO IS ALSO NOT SAFE IT FEELS AS IF MY AXEL ON MY CAR IS GOING TO BRAKE? ALSO THIS CAR HAS CAUGHT ON FIRE AS I WAS ON THE FREEWAY COMING FROM WORK. I HAVE REPLACE THE CADILLAC CONVERTER ON THIS CAR AS WELL AS 2,000 OTHER REPAIRS INTO MY CAR. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS KNOWING THAT ONE DAY WHEN I GET IN MY CAR IT MAY CAUGHT ON FIRE IF IT GET TO HOT. IT VERY SAD ALL I WOULD LIKE TO DO IS GO TO SCHOOL AND WORK GET HOME SAFE GUARANTEED EVERY DAY.
MY 06 CHEVY AVEO HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT LAST YEAR. UNFORTUNATELY I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS PAPERWEIGHT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVEROLET AGAIN. READING HOW THIS ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED FOR ANYONE AND CHEVROLET WONT OWN UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE, WHATS THE POINT IN EVEN TRYING BUT TO THROW THIS VEHICLE IN THE GARBAGE? LAST TIME I TOOK MY AVEO IN FOR A RECALL ON THE MODULE, THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AND THEY DID NOT BECAUSE ITS STILL BURNING UP, SO I JUST TRY TO NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT. I HAVE A TWO YEAR OLD AND THREE YEAR OLD AND IF THOSE AIRBAGS RANDOMLY DEPLOY AND WE GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT, THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS.

IN ADDITION, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

IN OCTOBER 2016 MY 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO LS HATCHBACK'S BATTERY DIED, UNABLE TO JUMPSTART ANYMORE. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH HAS ILLUMINATED SOLID SINCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. THE GM DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TOO WASN'T ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE VEHICLE HAD 130,000 MILES AT THE TIME THE BATTERY DIED AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I NOW DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE WITH ME BECAUSE I'M AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL MALFUNCTION.

DASH AND SHIFTER LIGHTS WENT OUT AND CAME BACK ON AND EVENTUALLY WENT OUT COMPLETELY- WOULD NOT COME ON UPON STARTUP. SOME FRONT AND REAR LIGHTS AS WELL. BLINKERS & FLASHERS STILL WORK. HAVE CHECKED ALL FUSES AND BULBS. NEEDS ELECTRICAL REPAIR.
ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. PRIOR TO BURNING SMELL, THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ALL INSIDE DASH LIGHTS AND CLOCK LIGHTS AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A MAJOR CITY STREET. ALL LIGHTS STAYED OFF FOR ABOUT 20 MINS. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGTS NEVER CAME BACK ON. CLOCK LIGHTS STILL GOES OFF AN ON. DASH LIGHTS AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS CAME BACK ON ONCE. BUT HAVE BEEN OFF A MONTH NOW. REPORTED TO GM. RECALL ON DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS FIXED FREE. BUT THEY SAID NO RECALL ON WIRING OF LIGHTS. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER THAT HAS THOS PROBLEM THERE ARE MANY WHO HAVE WRITTEN COMPLAIYS ON GM. RECALL WEBSITE. I HAVE PICTURES OF BURNT FUSE CONNECTOR RELAY THAT CONTROLS ALL LIGHTS. 10 MINS OF MECHANIC CHECKING THE PART WAS SO HOT HE COULDN'T TOUCH IT. ON 8/09/2016 TERRY CULLEN FIXED RECALL. I PAYED THEM $100.00 TO CHECK PROBLEM ABOUT LIGHTS THEY SAID THEY NEEDED $400 MORE DOLLARS FOR 4 HOURS OF MORE LOOKING. MY FAMILY MECHANIC FOUND PROBLEM WITH IN 10 MINS...... DEALER.. ALL ABOUT MONEY! I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE SAW THE PROBLEM OR EVEN KNEW IT.

ON A WINTER MORNING I WENT OUT AND STARTED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK, I GOT ON THE ROAD AND REALIZED THAT MY DASHBOARD , HEATING CONTROL, AND SHIFTER LIGHTS DID NOT WORK. I MOVED THE SETTINGS SWITCH AND NOTHING CAME ON. I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES. THEY ARE FINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY AVEOS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. AND THE ONLY FIX IS TO REWIRE THE SYSTEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. IF I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP IT'S GOING TO COST ANYWHERE BETWEEN 50-100 DOLLARS OR MORE. IF ITS A PROBLEM TO THE CONSUMERS THEN IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT JUST A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IF THIS IS A WIRING ISSUE THEN IT COULD POSSIBLY END UP CAUSING A FIRE.

THE SAME TIME THE RECALL FOR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS MODULE CAME MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS INDICATOR STARTED FLASHING AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO DEALER TO FIX DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS MODULE, I ALSO HAD AIRBAG LIGHT CHECK AND THEY SAID THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED AND IT COST ME OVER $300.00 TO FIX. IS THIS CONNECTED TO DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODULE PROBLEM? IF SO I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY BACK! LET ME KNOW PLEASE.

THE DEALER ADVISED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V261000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) WOULD ONLY REPAIR THE DRL MODULE AND WOULD NOT REPLACE ANY ADDITIONAL FAILURE CAUSED BY THE RECALL. THE CONTACT ALSO WANTED TO STATE THAT THE ENGINE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE ENGINE FLUID TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS AIRBAG LIGHTS REMAIN ON NO MATTER IF PARKED OR DRIVING. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS DO NOT APPEAR TO BE WORKING. FEAR THAT BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. FEEL GM NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ISSUE, DEALERS ARE CLUELESS, I DO NOT INTENT TO HAVE THIS FIXED OR EVEN DIAGNOSED BASED ON THE SHEER QUANTITY OF SAME/SIMILAR COMPLAINS WITH NO CLEAR CUT RESOLUTION. PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES WHETHER SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT OR NOT, DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES NO MATTER IF PARKED, RUNNING, IN REVERSE, NEUTRAL, OR DRIVE. I SERIOUSLY HOPE THIS CAR DOESN'T KILL ME. SEEMS WITH ALL OF THE AIRBAG SAFETY RECALLS, THIS ONE NEEDS TO BE ADDED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE DEATH. *TR
MY AVEO HAS HAD A BURNING ELECTRICAL SMELL IN THE CAB FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS. A RECALL WAS ISSUED 8 MONTHS AGO AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. GM STATES THAT THE REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE. SINCE THE RECALL THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER AND THE ELECTRICAL SMELL HAS GOTTEN WORSE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN PLAGUED BY ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND I DO BELIEVE THEY ARE ALL RELATED. I REALLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR EVERYWHERE WITH MY FAMILY IN IT DUE TO THE RISK OF IT CATCHING FIRE. GM SAFETY RECALL 14093, JULY 2014- PARTS STILL NOT AVAILABLE- FRIDAY, 16 JAN 2015, I SPOKE WITH A LADY, ONLY NAME GIVEN WAS [XXX]- WHO STATED GM HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A VENDOR WHO CAN MANUFACTURE A HEADLAMP SWITCH TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE. I FIND IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FATHOM HOW GM, PRODUCING MILLIONS OF VEHICLES EACH YEAR, EACH AND EVERY ONE EQUIPPED WITH A HEADLAMP SWITCH, YET CANNOT FIND A VENDOR TO PRODUCE A HEADLAMP SWITCH. [XXX] STATEMENTS LEADS ME TO DEDUCE GM HAS NO INTENTION OF REPAIRING THIS VEHICLE. [XXX] ALSO STATED THAT BECAUSE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE REPLACEMENT OR BUY-BACK AVAILABLE UNDER THE US NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT. IS THAT TRUE? DASH LIGHTS DID NOT TURN ON WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TURNED ON. ALSO, RUNNING LIGHTS DID NOT TURN ON AFTER MY HEADLIGHTS WERE TURNED ON (FRONT AND REAR RIGHT). LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THIS WAS DUE TO THE SPLICE PACK MELTING. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHEVROLET AVEO'S. THIS SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURERS ISSUE AND NOT THE OWNERS IF IT IS A KNOWN HAZARDOUS ISSUE. *JS
2006 CHEVROLET AVEO, HAVE HAD RECALL NOTICE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. HAVE HEARD NOTHING NEW, DRL FAIL REGULARLY AS WELL AS PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS. HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS, SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE SLIGHT MODIFICATIONS THAT FIX IT TEMPORARILY. AVEO OWNERS NEED A PERMANENT FIX IMMEDIATELY. *TR

I FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL WENT THROUGH THE MEDIAN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 80 OUTSIDE DOUGLAS WYOMING. AS I WOKE WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MEDIAN MY CAR IMPACTED A CONCRETE CULVERT AND WENT THROUGH THE GUARD RAIL ONTO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE WHERE IT FINALLY CAN TO A STOP ACROSS THE OTHER TWO LANES OF ON COMING TRAFFIC ALL WITH NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. *TR
THE FRONT SIGNAL LIGHT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE STOPPED WORKING, SO I PURCHASED A BULB AND WHEN MY SON WENT TO REPLACE IT, IT WAS WORKING. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER, I WENT TO START THE CAR AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THE BATTERY WAS CHARGED AND IT WORKED THE NEXT DAY. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID MOTOR DID NOT WORK FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS, BUT RECENTLY, IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THIS SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO LT THAT I PURCHASED NEW, AND IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IT FAILED VIRGINIA SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE HUDGINS HOLIDAY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA ON NOVEMBER 5, 2014 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. AFTER A THROUGH DIAGNOSIS, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR, AND IT WILL COST $1,152.00 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE AVEO. I FOUND A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF ENTRIES WHERE OTHER AVEO OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH, AND SINCE IT SEEMS TO EFFECT MANY AVEOS, I FEEL THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL, OR AS A MINIMUM, GM SHOULD REPLACE THE SENSOR AT NO COST TO THE EFFECTED AVEO OWNERS. *TR
MY KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION BETWEEN THE "ACCESSORY" SETTING AND HAVING THE CAR RUNNING. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM; RECOMMENDED FIX WAS TO REMOVE FUSE FOR RADIO, SO I DID. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE KEYS FROM IGNITION BUT WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE AGAIN I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 'PARK.' I PUT THE RADIO FUSE BACK IN, AND MY GEARSHIFT & TRANSMISSION WORK PERFECTLY. EVERY TIME I GET OUT OF MY CAR I HAVE TO PULL THE RADIO FUSE OUT, REMOVE MY KEYS, THEN INSTALL THE RADIO FUSE AGAIN SO THAT I CAN GET OUT OF 'PARK' WHEN I NEED TO DRIVE LATER. *TR
