THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN MADE THE CONTACT AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V261000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HWY ABOUT 60 MPH AND TRIED TO PUSH THE GAS BUT ALL IT DID WAS SPUTTER AND SLOWDOWN. HAD TO PULL OVER AND SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. COD NOT FIND ANYTHING SO I STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND THE SAME THING. IT JUST SPUTTERS. SO I DROVE TO A SERVICE STATION (VERY SLOWLY) THAT I JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGE THE PREVIOUS DAY THINKING THEY MAY HAVE DONE SOMETHING. AFTER THEY CHECKED IT, THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING RELATED TO THEM BUT THAT THEY HOOKED IT UP TO A MACHINE AND IT WAS READING 11 DIFFERENT TYPES OF CENSORS CAUSING IT TO MISFIRE. THEY HAD JUST HAD IN A 2007 CHEVY COBALT DOING THE SAME THING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON. WONDERING IF THE RECALL FOR THE 2006 AVEO FOR THE DRL WOULD CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS?! THEY SERVICE TECH MENTIONED MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS NOT 11 CENSORS BUT JUST 1OR 2 AFFECTING THE OTHERS READ ON THE MACHINE. *TR

2006 CHEVY AVEO I GOT MY DAUGHTER THIS CAR IT SEEMED TO BE GREAT WHEN WE FIRST GOT AVEO LAST YEAR WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE SWITCH. THERE WIRING ISSUES AIR BAG LIGHTS ON AND CLOCK COMES ON AND OFF THIS YEAR ODOMETER MILEAGE IS FADING AND HEADLIGHTS ON NO LIGHT FOR MILEAGE. LOW FUEL AND LOW WATER DOES NOT COME ON AND ON THE 7/1 AND TWO TIMES ON 7/4 HER SPEEDOMETER IS NOT READING RIGHT IT READ 15 MILES OFF FROM WHAT THE CAR IS GOING FASTER. THE THREE TIMES GETTING PULLED OVER AND SHE SAID THE GAUGE BEEN ACTING WEIRD THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL THE ONE COP SAID I KNOW THATS WHY I DON'T HAVE ONE OF THESE CARS AND STILL GAVE HER A TICKET. SO NOW THE CAR SITS UNTIL THE RECALL BUT THE BEST THING ( NOT ) I HAVE TWO AVEOS MY HUSBANDS THAT SIT AND WE GET TO SHARE BETWEEN THE THREE OF US IS MY VAN THAT'S A DODGE. I CANT BELIEVE WIRING HEATING UP BY THE DAY TIME MODULE THAT WILL CATCH FIRE AND IT TAKING THIS LONG SAFETY AND CHEVY HAS NOTHING ON THERE SITE FOR THE RECALL WOW. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE MULTIPLE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. IT WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO HER, THAT THE VEHICLE HAD FRAME DAMAGE, IT WAS A FLEET VEHICLE, AND THE AIR BAGS WERE REPLACED WITH USED ONES. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, A BOLT IN THE BROKE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO COLLAPSE AND LANDED ON THE AXLE, BREAKING IT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ALSO, SHE HAD THE AXLE REPLACED PREVIOUSLY, NOT KNOWING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRAME. DUE TO THE FRAME DAMAGE AND WARPED UNDERCARRIAGE, A BOLT CONNECTED TO THE FRAME THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR MOUNT HIDDEN UNDER THE ENGINE HAD PREVIOUSLY BENT AND SEVERED 3/4 OF THE WAY THROUGH THE BOLT. IT WENT UN-DETECTED AND HER MECHANIC DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR, SINCE THE FRAME WAS NOT DISCLOSED. *JB
RECEIVED LETTER STATING VEHICLE WAS BEING INCLUDED IN A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. LETTER STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND ANOTHER LETTER WOULD BE SENT OUT WHEN THEY DID BECOME AVAILABLE. HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT PARTS BECOMING AVAILABLE OR ANY OTHER NEWS AT ALL. SO FAR I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES BUT AM CONCERNED THAT NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK ON 6/8/2014 AND WHEN I REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, THE KEY WAS VERY HOT IT NEARLY BURNED MY HAND. I LITERALLY SAID "OW", I INFORMED MY FATHER WHO WAS NEARBY AND HE ASKED ME TO CHECK THE AROUND THE KEY IGNITION PANEL WHICH I DID AND IT WAS ALSO VERY HOT. I CALLED MCGEE CHEVROLET (877) 823-5348 IN RAYNHAM, MA THIS MORNING ON 6/9/2014 AND ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS, HE RAN THE VIN NUMBER AND SAID THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON THIS CHEVY AVEO MODEL, BUT I INFORMED HIM THAT THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD AND THIS COULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. HE SAID THAT THIS COULD BE THE FIRST ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE TYPE AND COULD BE A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. WE SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO GO TO THEIR SERVICE STATION AT 11 AM TODAY 6/9/2014. HE INFORMED US THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIRS AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT WE SHOULD KEEP THE RECEIPT IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. *TR

I DROVE FROM WORK TO LUNCH APPROX 2 MILES. PARKED THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF, GOT OUT TO GO INSIDE TO GET LUNCH, WHEN I CAME BACK AND OPENED THE CAR DOOR THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD. I WAITED A MINUTE TO SEE IF IT WOULD STOP. IT DID NOT SO CALLED 911 TO HAVE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT COME OUT. WHILE WAITING FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, I SAW FLAMES AND THE WHOLE DASHBOARD AREA OF THE CAR CAUGHT ON CAR. *TR
DRIVING AND LOST STEERING AND BRAKES AND RAN INTO A TRUCK. TRIED TO STEER AND STOP AND COULD NOT. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE RACK AND PINION BROKE AND SHE LOST STEERING. BECAUSE OF THAT SHE HIT A TRUCK WITCH THEN DAMAGED HER CAR WITH $4100 IN DAMAGE. I THINK GM SHOULD HAVE PUT A STRONGER RACK AND PINION IN THE CAR. IT DIDN'T BRAKE AT THE JOINTS IT BROKE AT THE GEAR THAT GOES TO BOTH TIE RODS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V261000(ELECTRICAL). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT IS ON.TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND TESTED. TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THE SEAT CONNECTORS ARE DEFECTIVE CAUSING A HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE CIRCUIT. AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY. CONNECTORS NEED REPLACED. WIRING HARNESS NEEDS REPAIRED/REPLACED. *TR

ARRIVED AT A HOTEL FIVE HOURS AWAY FROM HOME, PARKED MY CAR AND COULD NOT GET MY KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. FORTUNATELY I HAD MY SPARE KEY WITH ME SO I WAS ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND IT COST ABOUT $500 TO FIX. THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE IGNITION LOCK SOLENOID. I READ A LOT OF SIMILAR CASES WITH THIS MODEL ONLINE AND IT IS UNFAIR THAT WE ALL HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. RECALL! *TR
MY CHEVROLET AVEO 2006 AUTOMOBILE HAS SEVERAL ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. MY CAR HAS ISSUES WITH SHIFTING AND IT SUDDENLY SPEEDS UP FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALL OF THE TIME. I TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP AS THE MANUAL STATES AND IT REMAINS ON. ALSO, THERE COULD BE POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS LINE AS THE CAR IS MAKING A LOUD SOUNDS WHEN I ACCELERATE AND SMELLS LIKE GAS. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE LAST YEAR AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY MAIL WHEN PARTS WERE READY. AFTER 6 MONTHS, I CONTACTED CHEVROLET WHO REPLIED THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT READY AFTER NO RESPONSE FROM CHEVROLET. I HAD TO DO THE LEG WORK MYSELF. THEIR ABSOLUTE DISREGARD FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION IS UTTERLY REPREHENSIBLE. PEOPLE ARE BEING KILLED OR INJURED BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF OR INABILITY TO ADDRESS THE SITUATION. *JS

HIT FROM BEHIND WITH A CAR PUSHED MY CAR INTO A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. DRIVERS FRONT AIR BAG DEPLOYED. IT COMPLETELY BLEW UP; BURNING MY HAND AND ARM. THERE WAS MOSTLY SECOND DEGREE BURNS. INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FUSE KEPT BLOWING, ONLY WHEN FUEL GAUGE WAS BELOW HALF OF A TANK. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND PROBLEM. SOON AFTER INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS, GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS, AND PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WENT OUT. REPLACED TAIL LIGHT BULBS, AND STILL DID NOT WORK. READ FORUMS AND FOUND THE PROBLEM WAS SPLICER IN THE HOOD COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL DUE TO EXTREME SAFETY ISSUES. CANNOT SEE OR BE SEEN AT NIGHT, CANNOT SEE GAUGES WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,300.
HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND EVERYTIME THE PROBLEM IS "FIXED" IT HAPPENS AGAIN A FEW DAYS OR SOMETIMES WEEKS LATER. FIRST, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FUSE KEPT BLOWING. SEEMED TO HAPPEN WHEN FUEL GAUGE READ 1/2 FULL. EVENTUALLY, AFTER MANY TRIPS TO DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT, IT WORKED FOR THREE WEEKS AND THE FUSE STARTED BLOWING AGAIN. THEN, RPM GAUGE STARTED MOVING ERRATICALLY FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. FORTUNATELY, THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUSE BLOWING, BUT OVERTIME, MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID THE SAME THING, AND NOW MY FUEL GAUGE IS STARTING TO GO. IF I DRIVE OVER 55 MPH, SOMETIMES THE RPM AND FUEL GAUGE WILL MOVE, BUT NOT ACCURATELY. WHEN I DID THINK THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR THOSE THREE WEEKS, I HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM. SPEEDOMETER/INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS NOT WORKING INTERIOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING TAIL LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING ALL OF THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THE WIRING DESIGN INSIDE THE SPLICER IN THE HOOD COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX WAS PRONE TO FAILURE (A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM). I MENTIONED THIS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SURE ENOUGH THAT IS WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY ALSO SAID THAT MY OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAD TO DO WITH THIS AS WELL. THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT THEN THREE WEEKS LATER, THE INITIAL PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FUSE WAS BACK. I CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING THE CAR IN FOR THE SAME REPAIR. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. IT IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A CAR THAT ISN'T ELECTRICALLY RELIABLE. *TR
DASH LIGHTS AND CLOCK LIGHT FLICKERED FOR MONTHS THEN DASH LIGHTS FINALLY WENT DEAD. DASH LIGHTS NO LONGER WORK AND ALSO HAS AFFECTED REAR PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LAMP. THE PLASTIC SPLICE CONNECTOR BOX IN THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX IS BURNT TO A CRISP. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE IT APPEARS AS THOUGH SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM.
WENT TO LOCK DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND INSIDE LOCK WOULD NOT PUSH DOWN AND FOUND OUTSIDE LOCK HAD FALLEN INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL. ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON AVEOS DUE TO DEFECTIVE PLASTIC PARTS AND DEALERSHIPS SEEM TO BE CHARGING VERY HIGH AMOUNT TO REPAIR. SEEMS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL PROVIDED BY GMC TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AS PREVENTS BEING ABLE TO SECURE THE VEHICLE AND BELONGINGS AND OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

2006 CHEVY AVEO - ISSUE REAR AXLE BEAM BUSHINGS FAILED AT 65,000 MILES. THE FAILURE ALLOWS THE REAR AXLE TO HAVE UP TO AN INCH OF TRAVEL LEFT TO RIGHT. AS YOU GO DOWN THE ROAD YOU CAN FEEL THE BACK OF THE CAR SHIFTING AS YOU HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD OR SIMPLY BY TAKING AN EXIT RAMP. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE AXEL AT HALF PRICE. NOW 2 YEARS LATER I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE THE AXLE FOR THE SECOND TIME. I AM WORKING WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE.. MY 2006 CHEVY AVEO HATCHBACK WAS SITTING PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAD NOT BEEN TURNED ON IN THE LAST 12 HOURS. MY DOGS STARTED TO BARK, AND THAT IS WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR ALARM WAS GOING OFF, VERY QUIETLY. I WENT OUTSIDE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THAT IS WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND THAT IT WAS COMING OUT OF MY AIR VENTS AS WELL. HOWEVER THE ENGINE WAS NOT ON FIRE, NOR WAS IT EFFECTED. I TRIED IMMEDIATELY TO UNLOCK MY CAR, BUT MY LOCKS HAD GONE OUT, SO I HAD TO USE MY KEY AND MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS. IT WAS ONCE THE SMOKED CLEARED I COULD SEE MY DASH WAS COMPLETELY MELTED IN WHERE MY AIR VENTS AND CLOCK ONCE WERE. IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT IT HURT THE CD PLAYER DIRECTLY BELOW IT HOWEVER. MY WINDOWS ARE RUINED BY THE SMOKE AS WELL AND THEY ARE DARKENED WHERE THE "FIRE" STARTED. PRIOR TO THIS DAY MY BATTERY HAS GONE DEAD TWICE, BUT THERE WAS NOT WARNING SIGNS THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THIS CAR HAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND IAC(IDLE CONTROL ASSEMBLY) .I HAVE TO TRY TO CRANK IT 7-8 TIME BEFORE IT WILL STAY RUNNING.I AM PHYSICALLY DISABLED AND ON A FIXED INCOME ,THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WILL COST $1000 TO $1500 TO FIX THIS CAR WHICH THERE IS NO WAY I CAN PAY THIS LARGE AMOUNT. I BELIEVE THAT CHEVORLET SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND PUT THERE DEFECT ON THE RECALL LIST.

ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES PERIODICALLY STOP WORKING AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FUSE BLOWS FREQUENTLY. ALSO HAVE TO FREQUENTLY USE THE SHIFT-LOCK RELEASE FEATURE IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK. HAVE HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ALSO PERIODICALLY STOP WORKING (THEY TURN ON AND OFF RANDOMLY). HAVE NEEDED TO HAVE DAMAGED WIRES IN THE HOOD COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX REPLACED, BUT ALL PROBLEMS KEEP COMING BACK. CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRS AND CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR, SO I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING WITH ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. BACKING UP FROM A PARKED POSTION APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND. A VACUUM LEAK FROM A CRACKED/BROKEN RUBBER ELBOW CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. OVER THE PAST 2-1/2 YEARS THE ELBOW HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES THE THE SAME THING. *TR
