MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE PRETTY MUCH NEVER WORKED, I HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO MANUALLY ENGAGE MY LIGHTS OTHERWISE THE DTR LIGHTS WOULD GO FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN BURN FLICKER AND SHORT OUT, ONLY WORKING WHEN I TURN THE LIGHTS ON THE MANUAL WAY. MY BACK TURN SIGNAL SHORTED OUT AROUND EARLY 2012. NOT ONLY DID IT STOP WORKING BUT IT MELTED THE LIGHT SOCKET HOUSING, MAKING IT SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE LIGHT SOCKET. MOST RECENTLY, EITHER MAY 14TH OR 15TH, I STARTED UP MY CAR, BUT I COULDN'T PUT IT INTO GEAR, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT INTO GEAR, SO WE TRIED TO TURN OFF THE CAR TO FIGURE OUT OUR NEXT MOVE. BUT THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT, SO WE HAD TO RESTART THE CAR AND FINALLY GOT THE GEAR TO ENGAGE, AND WE TOOK IT HOME AND HAD TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY BECAUSE WE COULD NOT TAKE OUT THE KEY BUT DID NOT WANT IT TO WEAR OUT THE BATTERY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000. UPDATED 02/11/14*LJ UPDATED 02/11/14
THE THERMOSTAT CASING AND THERMOSTAT BLEW WHEN I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR PERSON, HE SAID THE PARTS ARE REALLY CHEAP. IT'S A DESIGN FLAW AND CHEVY SHOULD DO A RECALL. *TR
THE INTERIOR INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ALL WENT OUT. THIS IS AN ISSUE I FOUND OUT FROM OTHER OWNERS HAS HAPPENED TO ALL OF THEM. *TR
AT A STOP THE CAR WAS PUT IN PARK, IGNITION SWITCH TURNED OFF AND THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT. STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFTER OUT OF PARK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. IGNITION LOCK MODULE WAS NOT SENDING SIGNAL. IT WAS NOT GROUNDING OUT AS DESIGNED. MODULE WAS REPLACED. THERE WAS STILL NO CHANGE IN RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. TESTED SHIFTER AND FOUND INTERNAL FAILURE OF MODULE. THE ENTIRE SHIFTER MODULE AND ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. *TR
2006 AVEO RED AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. CAR HAS HIGH MILES BUT AIR BAG PROBLEMS SEEM TO BE RAMPANT IN THESE CARS NO MATTER THE MILEAGE. GM SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS, MOST MANUFACTURERS CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR
DRIVING VEHICLE THROUGH RESIDENTIAL AREA, SMOKE AND SUBSEQUENT FLAMES SEEN COMING FROM CENTER DASH OF 2006 AVEO. VEHICLE STOPPED IN STREET AND FIRE EXTINGUISHER USED TO CONTROL FIRE AND BATTERY DISCONNECTED. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND INSPECTED VEHICLE. VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC SHOP AND INSPECTION REVEALED DRL MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE, AND EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING BLACKENED AND MELTED ALONG WITH MULTIPLE AREAS OF THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A CLAIM SUBMITTED TO THEIR CENTRAL CLAIMS DIVISION FOR CONSIDERATION. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS CURRENTLY IN STORAGE AWAITING DECISION FROM GENERAL MOTORS. *TR
2006 CHEVY AVEO WITH APP. 82,000 MILES. LOCK ON DRIVER'S SIDE FELL IN, CANNOT LOCK THE DOOR. *KB
WE HAVE A 2006 CHEVY AVEO. IT HAS A PROBLEM IN THE REAR END, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS AND IT ALLOWS THE REAR AXLE TO MOVE ABOUT ONE INCH FROM LEFT BACK TO RIGHT, AROUND CORNERS AND ACROSS BUMPS. WE WERE TOLD BY OUR MECHANIC IT WOULD BE OVER 800 DOLLARS TO FIX, WHICH WE DO NOT HAVE. IN ADDITION, OUR MECHANIC STATED THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE INITIATED A MASSIVE RECALL. I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER CAR RIGHT NOW AND AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL CAUSE ME TO WRECK. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF FOR RANDOM AMOUNTS OF TIMES, FROM HOURS TO WEEKS AT A TIME. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR TESTING. THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS REPLACED. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY COMING ON. JUNE, 2011 LIGHT KEPT COMING ON EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT FOR O2 SENSORS. JULY, 2011 THERMOSTAT HOUSING GOES OUT WITHOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. HOUSING REPLACED AND LIGHT KEEPS COMING BACK ON AGAIN. ALTERNATOR WENT OUT RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN TEMPERATURE DROPPED QUICKLY OUTSIDE. OTHER PARTS REPLACED AS WELL. *KB
TIRES NEVER LAST VERY LONG, MAY GET 10,000 MILES OUT OF A SET SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. CAR HAS BEEN MAKING ALOT OF NOISE GOING OVER ANY LITTLE BUMP AND WE CHANGED THE SHOCKS AND ONE WAS BAD, STARTED AROUND 90,000. IT IS STILL MAKING SOME NOISE AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THE REAR AXLE BUSHING IS BAD AND WOULD HAVE TO GET A NEW REAR AXLE $$$-$$$$. ALSO THE PAINT ALONG THE BOTTOM OF BOTH DOORS ON THE OUTSIDE ON BOTH SIDES HAD BEEN STARTING TO COME OFF. *TR
FIRST MY CLOCK WOULD GO OUT THEN MY MILES WOULD DISAPPEAR WHILE DRIVING MY HORN WENT OUT AND THEN MY RADIO, WHEN CHECKED OUT IT WAS NOT MY FUSES IT WAS TOLD TO ME IT WAS MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND MY CAR SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES. *TR

DUE TO A WIRE SHORT THAT APPEARS TO BE COMMON IN THIS YEAR/MODEL. CREATED DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR MY WIFE. WIRES MELTED TOGETHER, COULD HAVE BEEN FIRE HAZARD. *TR
REPLACED EVERY EMISSIONS AT LEAST FOUR/TWO SETS OF TIRES/SHOCKS/STRUTSENGINE SEALS/SIGNAL LIGHTS/HEADLIGHT /TAIL LIGHT PRETTY MUCH EVERY LIGHT INCLUDING INSIDE CAR THAT I CAN THINK OF/ REPLACED TWO BATTERIES/ HAD CORROSION TAKEN OUT OF DIFFERENT PARTS UNDER HOOD AS WELL REPLACE MANY WIRES UNDER HOOD. I HAVE PUTTING MONEY IN THIS CAR SINCE 2009. I AM DONE IT HAS A TOTAL OF 43,000 MILES .DO NOT BUY ONE. *TR
2006 CHEVY AVEO HATCH BACK MY WIFE HAD PURCHASED THE 2006 CHEVY AVEO AND JUST ONE MONTH AGO IT STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS 1- BATTERY WENT DEAD PURCHASED 2 NEW ONE BEFORE IT W OKAY 2- LIGHTERS DID NOT WORK HAD IT CHECKED AND THEY COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM COULD BE WIRING 3- ALTERNATOR GOES OUT LEAVING MY WIFE STRANDED 4-ALTERNATOR GOES THE NEXT WEEK AGAIN LEAVING MY WIFE STRANDED FOR AT LEAST AN HOURS AND A WEEK BEFORE THE ITEM COULD BE FIXED 5- THERMOSTAT HAS BROKE IN HALF AND NOW SINCE I LIVE ON GUAM ITEM IS NOT IN STOCK HELP US ON GUAM *TR
THERE WAS NO SPECIFIC EVENT LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED IN MY 2006 CHEVY AVEO. THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING (MADE OF PLASTIC) COMPLETELY BROKE APART AND ALL THE ANTIFREEZE FLOWED OUT. THERE WAS NO WARNING. I HAVE ORDERED A NEW HOUSING AND THERMOSTAT, WHICH CHEVY HAS RE-DESIGNED TO ALUMINUM....NO LONGER PLASTIC, AND MY HUSBAND WILL BE REPLACING. OBVIOUSLY, CHEVY KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE OR THEY WOULD HAVE STUCK WITH THE PLASTIC VERSION. I BELIEVE THIS ITEM SHOULD BE RECALLED. THANK YOU *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS (SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE, ETC.) LIGHTS ON SHIFTER, AND RIGHT REAR TAILLIGHTS ALL WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. FUSES WERE ALL STILL GOOD, LIGHT BULBS STILL GOOD. EVENTUALLY TRACKED IT DOWN TO A BURNT OUT WIRING SPLICE, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE LOSS OF INTERIOR LIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD - ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FIX REQUIRES HUNTING DOWN BAD FACTORY WIRING. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO CAME ON AT ABOUT 110,000 MILES. I WORRY THAT THE BAG COULD SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOY, OR FAIL TO DEPLOY WHEN IT SHOULD. HAVING READ THE OTHER COMPLAINTS OF DEALERS NOT BEING ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, I HESITATE TO SPEND MONEY I CAN'T SPARE ON A "FIX" THAT DOESN'T WORK. CHEVROLET SHOULD SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR MODELS THAT USE THIS TYPE OF AIRBAG. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE REAR AXLE BUSHING WAS DEFECTIVE AND UNABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE PROPERLY ALIGNED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE FRONT TIRES TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,989.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE COULD NOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE ON AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR INSPECTION HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
2306 CHEVROLET AVEO LT THERMOSTAT HOUSING CONSISTS OF TWO PLASTIC PARTS GLUED TOGETHER WITH THERMOSTAT BETWEEN THE TWO HALVES. THE GLUED JOINT CAME APART AND THE THERMOSTAT FELL OUT ON THE ROAD. THE COOLANT PUMPED OUT AND THE ENGINE SEVERELY OVERHEATED. TOWING CHARGES FROM A REMOTE HIGHWAY LOCATION WERE $190. REPAIR AT LAMB CHEVROLET IN PRESCOTT, AZ, TOTALED $195. THIS WAS FOUND TO BE A COMMON AVEO PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FACTORY RECALL ITEM! *TR
CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT DISENGAGE WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED ON A 2006 AVEO. *TR
I HAVE A CHEVY AVEO 2006 AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT FOR THE DRIVER IS ON, THAT MEANS IT HAS AN ISSUE. FOR ALMOST 7 WEEKS THE GM DEALER IS TRYING TO FIX IT WITHOUT ANY RESULTS. THEY GAVE ME THE CAR BACK A COUPLE TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. I HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THIS CAR IN 2007. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM AND IT LOOKS LIKE MY AVEO IS NOT ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS, I?D LIKE GM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR TO TAKE THE CAR BACK, I DON?T FEEL SAFE ANYMORE WITH DRIVING THIS CAR! THANK YOU! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGAN TO ABNORMALLY JERK FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL MOMENTARILY BEFORE INDEPENDENTLY RESTARTING. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 54,000.
FRONT TIRES HAD UNEVEN FRONT TIRE WEAR. OUTSIDE EDGE OF FRONT TIRES WORE MORE QUICKLY THEN INSIDE EDGE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN CAR WAS NEW AND ALIGNMENTS WERE PERFORMED. THE ALIGNMENTS DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. THE ORIGINAL TIRES LAST LESS THAN 30,000 MILES DUE TO THE PROBLEM. THE TIRES WOULD'VE LAST LESS TIME IF NOT FOR FREQUENT TIRE ROTATES. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED UNTIL THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT STRUT MOUNTS IN ABOUT 2010. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE REAPPEARING. *TR
2006 CHEVY AVEO - ISSUE REAR AXLE BEAM BUSHINGS FAILED AT 65,000 MILES. THE FAILURE ALLOWS THE REAR AXLE TO HAVE UP TO AN INCH OF TRAVEL LEFT TO RIGHT. AS YOU GO DOWN THE ROAD YOU CAN FEEL THE BACK OF THE CAR SHIFTING AS YOU HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD OR SIMPLY BY TAKING AN EXIT RAMP. GM WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I EXPLAINED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT FELL ON DEAF EARS. I READ ON LINE THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MOST AVEO OWNERS. THESE ARE NOT OLD CARS AND THIS SAFETY ISSUE FAILURE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY GM.
I HAVE A 2006 AVEO. EVERY SINCE WE BOUGHT IT WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKE IT SPEEDS UP. IT DOES NOT DO THIS ALL THE TIME. THIS LAST TIME I ALMOST T-BONED A TRUCK. I STOPPED IT BY TURNING OFF THE KEY AND JUST AVOIDED A WRECK. HAVE YOU HAD ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS? WHILE MY 2006 AVEO WAS FACING OUT FROM A DRIVEWAY TO ENTER A FOUR LANE ROAD, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO RACE WILDLY, THE CAR BUCKED, I PUT MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE. I SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND RESTARTED IT; THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE. I REPEATED THIS AND WAITED LONGER BEFORE RESTARTING; THIS TIME THE ENGINE WAS AT A NORMAL IDLE. CONSIDERING EVERYTHING GOING ON; I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD BE MADE AWARE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 AVEO. IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS, THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR LOSS OF POWER TWICE, THROTTLE SENSOR REPLACED. BATTERY REPLACED, HEADLIGHTS BLOW OUT WITHIN MONTHS OF BEING REPLACED. IGNITION GETS EXTREMELY HOT. RADIO BLEW OUT, A/C NO LONGER WORKS, PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS NOW BURNED OUT, INSTRUMENT PANEL/SHIFTER LIGHTS GOING OUT. AND THE CAR IS NOW BACK IN THE SHOP WITH A BAD ALTERNATOR. THE COST OF REPAIRING THIS VEHICLE IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS IS RIDICULOUS...NOT TO MENTION THE TOWING, THE STRANDEDNESS AND STRESS. I ALSO HAVE A 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA THAT HAS NEVER BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE I PURCHASED IT OTHER THAN ROUTINE REPAIRS.....THE AVEO IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY, EVEN WHEN PURCHASED USED. *TR
MY ENGINE RACED AS I APPROACHED A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO STOP WITHOUT MUCH DIFFICULTY. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE CAR WITH NO FURTHER DIFFICULTY. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE. I AM REPORTING THIS MINOR INCIDENT AT THIS TIME BECAUSE I AM TOLD THE VEHICLE HAS AN ENGINE MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN. *TR

I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO AND IT HAS SEVERAL OCCURRENCES OF THE AIR BAG NOT ON LIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR REPAIRS THE FIRST 4 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY AND THE LAST VISIT LIGHTENED MY WALLET BY ALMOST $500.00 AND GUESS WHAT IT'S BACK ON AGAIN. I HAVE PEOPLE NOW THAT RIDE WITH ME THAT REFUSE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THE BAGS WILL OPERATE PROPERLY IN A CRASH. LIKE I SAID THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES NOW IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. THEY HAVE REPLACED SENSORS, CONNECTORS, WIRE BUNDLES AND 1 TIME COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE AFTER THEY RESET IT. SO MY QUESTION IS TO YOU, WHO DOES MY ATTORNEY NEED TO CONTACT WHEN THE LAWSUIT IS FILED AFTER SOMEONE RIDING IN MY VEHICLE DIES FROM LACK OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT? WILL CHEVROLET STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OR DO THEY SHIFT BLAME TO YOU FOR LACK OF PURSUIT IN THIS MATTER? LET ME KNOW SO THE VICTIMS RELATIVES CAN LIGHTEN YOUR OR CHEVROLETS WALLETS FOR LACK OF ACTION ON A VERY VITAL SAFETY ITEM IN THESE VEHICLES. *TR

DEALER CLAIMS THAT AVEO HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH ALTERNATORS, BUT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALTERNATOR CAUSES MASSIVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT CAR. ONE CAR LOST BATTERY, DOME LIGHT, RADIO, WIPERS, THROTTLE SENSOR DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING ALTERNATOR. ALTERNATOR ON AVEO SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS IT IS A PREVALENT ISSUE FOR THE MODEL. PARKED THE CAR IN A PARKING SPOT AT A STORE, WENT INSIDE FOR A LITTLE WHILE, CAME BACK OUT TO HAVE THE SHIFTER NOT SHIFT FROM PARK AFTER BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. I'VE ALREADY TRIED REPLACING THE BRAKE SWITCH NEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL AND REPLACED THE BRAKE TRANSAXLE SOLENOID. NEITHER OPTION HAS WORKED. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. $80 LATER, THEY WANT OVER 400 TO FIX THE SHIFTER BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE SHIFT ASSEMBLY. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE, THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE AUTOMATICALLY TAKEN CARE OF BY THE DEALERSHIP AT NO COST TO US. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER AUTOMOBILE IS STARTED. THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS NOT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. AIRBAGS MAY NOT INFLATE IN A CRASH OR MAY INFLATE WITHOUT A CRASH. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST WAS IN JANUARY 2008. WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS TIME IT IS NOT. 2006 CHEVY AVEO - ISSUE REAR AXLE BEAM BUSHINGS FAILED AT 45,000 MILES. THE FAILURE ALLOWS THE REAR AXLE TO HAVE UP TO AN INCH OF TRAVEL LEFT TO RIGHT. AS YOU GO DOWN THE ROAD YOU CAN FEEL THE BACK OF THE CAR SHIFTING AS YOU HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD OR SIMPLY BY TAKING AN EXIT RAMP. AS THE AXLE WAS SHIFTED TO ON SIDE WHEN YOU HIT A HARD BUMP IT WOULD BR METAL TO METAL AND WOULD CAUSE SPARKS UNDER THE CAR. BY 49,000 MILES IT BECAME UNDRIVEABLE AS THE SMALLEST BUMP OR TURN WOULD SHIFT THE AXLE. GM WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I EXPLAINED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT FELL ON DEAF EARS. I HAVE REPLACED THE AXLE BEAM AT A COST OF $461.00 FOR THE BEAM IT SELF FORM GM AS THE GM OEM PART IS THE ONLY PART AVAILABLE, I PUT IT MYSELF - 6 HOURS OF LABOR. WILL THIS FAIL AGAIN IN ANOTHER 40K MILES. I READ ON LINE THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MOST AVEO OWNERS. THESE ARE NOT OLD CARS AND THIS SAFETY ISSUE FAILURE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY GM. *TR

THE KEY WILL NOT MOVE FROM THE LOCKING POSITION. IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT MUST DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY MUST THEN BE RECONNECTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $300. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,857.

AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, MY 06 CHEVY AVEO'S ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE. I HAD TO PRESS HARD ON MY BRAKES TO STOP ME FROM ROLLING. I HAD TO REMOVE MY KEY AND START MY ENGINE AGAIN. I WAS STILL IN DRIVE WHEN MY ENGINE DIED AND EVERYTHING IN MY CAR WAS STILL ON IE RADIO AND LIGHTS. THERE IS NO REASON THAT MY AUTOMATIC CAR SHOULD BE ROLLING BACKWARDS WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID MY COMP WAS RUNNING A THROTTLE BODY REPAIR. SINCE THAT WOULD BE THE THIRD THROTTLE BODY IN NINE MONTH, THE DEALER DECIDED TO CONTACT GM AND LOOK INTO IT. THROTTLE BODY CHECKED OUT FINE, AND GM TOLD DEALERSHIP TO RUN MORE DIAGNOSTICS AND PUT MILES ON MY CAR. AFTER A WHOLE WEEK, THE BEST THE DEALERSHIP COULD TELL ME WAS THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND GM DIDN'T KNOW EITHER. THEY SAID IF IT WAS REPLICATED AGAIN, TO HAVE IT TOWED AND NOT TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON. AN 06 WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS. IN ONLY NINE MONTHS OF OWNING MY CAR I HAVE HAD TWO THROTTLE BODIES, A NEW HEAD, A NEW TIMING BELT, AND A NEW BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. I WILL NEVER BUY THIS CAR AGAIN. I PURCHASED MY '06 CHEVY AVEO NEW FROM FRIENDLY CHEVROLET IN FRIDLEY MN AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS I REALIZED THAT I WAS NEEDING TO CHANGE HEADLIGHTS FAR TOO FREQUENTLY FOR ANY CAR. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT AT THE TIME AND WAS TOLD THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT ANY PROBLEMS. SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS ALSO LOOKED AT IT AND I WAS TOLD THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWHERE BUT COULD NOT SPECIFY WHERE WITHOUT DIGGING INTO IT. EVERY OTHER MONTH (APPROXIMATELY) FOR OVER THREE YEARS, ONE HEADLAMP OR THE OTHER WOULD GO OUT. I RECEIVED THE LECTURE ABOUT NOT TOUCHING THE BULB WHEN INSTALLING, THOUGH I KNEW THIS ALREADY, AND IT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. BOTH HEADLAMP PLUGS ARE NOW CHARRED AND APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER I GOT THE ORIGINAL RECALL LETTER, BOTH HEADLAMPS WENT DIM, SO DIM THAT THE PARKING LIGHTS SHED MORE LIGHT, MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE FOR DRIVING OTHER THAN DAYTIME. WHEN I ACCELERATE LEFT FRONT WHEEL RATTLES. I DRIVE SLOW IN IT AND ONLY GO TO SCHOOL TO GET GRAND KIDS AND TO STORE PRIMARILY. WENT TO A BIG CITY AND CAR( DRAGGED, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE )ON UP RAMPS, WENT TO ORLANDO ONCE TO VISIT FAMILY, SAME THING. TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE CAR ACTED DEAD, WOULD NOT START,TOOK OFF BATTERY CABLES, REPLACED THEM AND CAR STARTED. I CALLED THE PH # IN OWNERS MANUAL AT ONSET OF PROBLEMS, THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTICS. I HAD REPAIRS DONE BY MECHANICS NOT ASSC'D W/ DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE OF COST.
